CHART OF RADOVAN KARADZIC born on the same day as Aung San Suu Kyi

Two persons in the news these days and the item is freedom or not: Aung San Suu Kyi and Radovan Karadžić. They were born on the same day and I don't have the hours of birth. Karadzic has been arrested yesterday. He was one of the most wanted war criminals. Like Aung San Suu Kyi he lived with limited freedom. As he was wanted since the 90's, he could not move freely and had to be vigilant. In 1990 Aung San Suu Kyi won the elections and that was the start of her detention. That is what Aung San Suu Kyi and Kardzic 'share': the restrictions. Here you see the chart of Aung.

CALLING SUN
I also like to point at the Sun in their charts. The Sun does not make Ptolemaic aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. The 'calling' Sun in their charts is telling us that they want to be noticed and that they might be a leader.

URANUS
Aung San Suu Kyi, a non violent activist, was in the newspapers yesterday. Karadzic was arrested. The sun was semi square their oriental Uranus and highlighted issues of freedom. Within a year Uranus - prominent in their charts - will be square the natal and inconjunct the progressive Sun.

JUDGEMENT
The birth hours of the two politicians are unknown. So we do not know the crucial placements, the degree of the Moon, the Ascendant or the Midheaven. That information is crucial. Birth charts, transits, progressions and solar return chart or solar arcs...they do not judge. Circumstances, culture, gender and genes have an important effect on what a person does with the characteristic that are given in the chart. Karadzic's father spent most of his life in jail, for example. And Aung's father is an honoured general.

WHAT THEY (DON'T) SHARE...
The difference in their lives is clear. Karadzic is responsible for the death of thousands of people. Aung is non violent. But there are also many things that they have in common. She is a writer. Karadzic is a poet (notice Mercury square Neptune). And both spent many years in house arrest. Aung in her house. Karadzic in his region, hiding from the authorities.

I heard the helicopters during the move mr. Karadzic from Rotterdam Airport to his prison in Scheveningen (The Hague, Netherlands) and it crossed my mind that one can be an involuntary international with Jupiter calling, like Karadzic has...

These are the birth positons of Aung San Suu Kyi, leader (notice the 'calling*) 'Sun!) of the Burmese opposition who has not been allowed to leave her house since she won the elections.

Within a year Uranus - prominent in her chart - will be square her natal and inconjunct her progressive Sun. As her birth hour is unknown it is not clear when exactly. And an inconjunction (quincunx) always involves 'besides' and 'but's...'. The Birmese government has shown before that their place in society values more than the freedom of the inhabitants. Aung Suu Kyi and the end of house arrest

The progressed Sunsign of Aun Suu Kyi has changed sign: time for a change in lifestyle. Her house arrest is over. Transit Uranus square natal Sun is another symbol of change (and nerves and upheaval).  What you don't see on this chart is that transit Quaoar is opposition progressed Mars. That is an indication of something happening outside/by others, that is creating a competition or fight. I wonder what will happen next.

Transits and progressions of Aung San Suu Kyi (and Karadzic)

Aung San Suu Kyi (The Lady of Myanmar) is in the news on CNN after the arrest of an American tourist who swam to her house, where she lives isolated in house arrest (already 13 of the last 18 years). See CNN...
Dutch newspapers report that her physical condition demanded the visit of a doctor. She has low blood pressure.

Notice that her progressed Sun is in the final two degrees of Leo. This is reflecting a period of transformation. Within 2 years her progressed Sun will have changed sign and a new kind of life might start. The amount of transits in 2009/2010 however tells us that there will be several developments before that.

HEALTH (Saturn and Neptune)
Unfortunately the first transit Saturn will be square her natal Sun (in October 2009 and April 2010). Usually, in her kind of circumstances, this will not improve health. In March/April 2010 Neptune will trine her natal Sun. The combination of Saturn and Neptune indicates health issues.

RESTRICTIONS (Saturn and Uranus) AND IMPROVEMENT (Jupiter)
Also in April 2010 Uranus will be opposition her natal Sun. That means that in April 2010 the issue of restricted liberty might be 'hot'. Also ther is the square of Jupiter in May 2010. AS Jupiter is the final transitting planet ver her Sun, that might mean that her conditions and situation might improve after April 2010. Let us hope that the Myanmar government will allow medication and a docter before that.

KARADZIC (same day of birth)
Karadzic, born on the same day, has the same kind of transits and progressions. Of course there is a difference in time and place of birth, but the tendencies are similar. Karadzic is on trial right now, in The Hague. He arrived there on Juyl 30, 2008. He was arrested July, 21 2008 after the year of the transit of Pluto opposition his natal Sun. In that year the officials intensified the search for him. Thirteen years before he started to live as an alternative healer, wearing a long white beard as a disguise. The same day of birth, the same issue of restricted freedom, another cause...

Personal situations, conditions, genes, gender, politics...they should all be taken into account when you try to get a picture of the situation in April 2010. I wonder about the effect of the same sort of transits and progressions in the charts of these two politicians, both in a situation of restricted freedom.

BIRTH CHART THAN SHWE, BAN KI-MOON AND AUNG SAN SUU KYI The world not allowed to help...

Than Shwe is the leader of the Myanmar junta. He was born in Mandalay, February 2, 1933. It was not a special day with special placements. Maybe he was born at a crucial moment, but we don't know. So in this case the combination of time and place must have been perfect to produce a person who is unwilling to help his own people because he is anxious to keep Myanmar (Burma) a secret, hidden and isolated place without influences from abroad. I found the components of his behaviour in the positions of the day of his birth.

50% of his placements are in earth signs for a materialist and realist. He has a strong will (Sun Aquarius, Moon Taurus) and the strongest (most tight) aspects are:

1. Mercury conjunct Saturn and inconjunct Neptune
When he was young he had a traumatic experience in wartime. He has been treated in a psychological hospital (around 1950, when his progressed Sun was moving to another sign). Saturn-Neptune is the combination for illnesses and Mercury is symbolic for the mind (= mental illnesses). Also Saturn is the symbol of borders, limitations and fear. With Mercury (communication, contact) and Neptune (illusion, fantasy, immaterial) the combination Mercury-Saturn-Neptune might lead to unrealistic (Neptune) fear (Saturn) for contact and communications (Mercury). Particulary since the inconjunction is the aspect that is connected to disbalance and illnesses.

2. Venus trine Jupiter (and sextile Pluto)
He may not be very popular world wide, but in his group he apparently managed to get support (or else he would never have been a leader). Venus with Jupiter and Pluto points at being loved by many and at being wealthy. Although the people are poor, mr. Shwe (who they call 'king' sometimes) had a splendid reception for his daughters' wedding.

3. Mars inconjunct Uranus
This very tight aspect is a disturbing one. Mars - Uranus indicates an explosive nature and special energy. The inconjunction adds disbalance and discrepancy. Rebellions, 'freedom fighters' and terrorist seem to need this aspect, because most of them have it: the drive to make an immediate change. In this case the freedom and independancy that he fought for, has been attacked by himself. It does not really fit. More about Mars-Uranus...

4. Jupiter sextile Pluto
Many of his contemporaries were born with this lucky and promissing aspect. Not many will have this connected to a personal planet (in the case of Than Shwe with both Venus and Mars for passion).

There are some minor and wider aspects about his chart (and him) that could be of importance:
- Sun biquintile Mars (and conjunct Saturn, almost out of orbs) for being a creative fighter.
- Jupiter sesquisquare Saturn for a longlasting carreer (a question of hierarchy, he was the next person in charge when a general stepped back in 1992)
- Jupiter quindecile Nodes (for the obsessive support and protection of his group and the advantages of it)
- Saturn quintile Uranus (being creative with the protocol or the limitations of freedom....i.c. creating his own prison)

2007
On the 4th of January 2007 he did not show up to celebrate independance day as he was ill. That was with transit Pluto semi square his Sun (a frustrating fysical problem).

2008
Right now his Sunsign is on it's way to another change, due in 2 years time. It will change his life. Progressed Venus will be conjunct his Sun within a year. The biquintiles in his progressed chart (Sun and Venus biquintile Jupiter) point at a creative way to have a good time. But how about the disaster in his country? It might have stopped the protests against his government for a while. On the 3rd of May mr. Than Shwe had transit Jupiter and transit Ceres tightly trine his natal Jupiter: a fortunate combination. Other observations for that day: Transit Pluto was trine progressed Mars and semi square progresses Saturn for the theme of violent death. Transit Saturn conjunct Mars, for death. And transit Uranus trine Pluto for an easy complete change (an easy way out?).
I don't want be cynical, but in fact this disastrer helped him to keep his position of power and punish the rebellious people.

BAN KI-MOON (born Ban Ki-moon 13061944 062600 JST Seoul)
Today mr. Ban Ki-Moon will try to convince mr. Shwe to accept foreign aid. In his chart Uranus is square Sun and sesquisquare Pluto to indicate the attempt to make a change. Transit Jupiter and Uranus are both inconjunct the natal Jupiter of Ban Ki-Moon. That expresses un unbalanced and disproportional optimism and relief. Also notice Saturn square Mercury for bad communications. And how about Mars semi square Sun and conjunct Pluto for using force and pressure. So many people have already died and suffered in vain...
It is nog an easy job for the chief of the UN, who was born June 13, 1944 at 6:26 a.m. JST in Seoul with Jupiter biquintile Uranus for a creative look at the future.

THE JOB
The interaction between Ban Ki-Moon and Than Shwe is visualised in the chart below.

Notice the tightest aspects:

The progressed Mars of Ban Ki-Moon is in between Mars and Jupiter of Shwe. Uranus of Shwee is square the progressed Moon of Ban Ki-Moon. All of this does not promise an easy conversation, I am afraid. But the fact that Ban Ki-Moon has been allowed into Myanmar is the first good sign in days. Than Shwe says he needs 7 billion dollar. Ban Ki-Moon wants him to open up the borders in return. Soon we will know the results. With the oriental Jupiter of Shwe it would not be surprising if he left the country. If he does, it will not be without the money.

MARS IN ASPECT WITH URANUS

This article is about the aspect Mars-Uranus and the midpoint Mars/Uranus. It is the combination of the radical action. Fast and sometimes too fast actions are part of Mars and Uranus. The goal is to establish a change. It is the aspect of the revolutionary, the rebel and the independently operating soldier. Not surprisingly Mars/Uranus midpoint and Mars in aspect with Uranus are clearly shown in the charts of terrorists and freedom fighters. This aspect is also to be found in the charts of those causing accidents and involved in the crime scene. Arrests and operations belong to the Mars/Uranus combination. As an example: Frida Kahlo (6th July 1907 8h30 Coyoacan Mexico) had Mars conjunct Uranus. When young she suffered from a heavy accident that crippled her and later in life she was arrested and imprisoned for a while.

Here below you find several examples and a few to make you know that statistics do not work the other way around, and neither does astrology. Attention, also! Having such a clue as Mars-Uranus does not mean a person needs to become a terrorist or has to cause a bomb explosion. It is the other way around. The indication is apparently needed to create a terrorist or rebel.

Gudrun Enssling was a terrorist as a member of the Rote Armee Fraction. Born 15th of August 1940 at 18 hour in Bartholom. Mars makes an almost exact square with Uranus and Uranus squares the midpoint Sun/Mars.

3. Begin (16081913 060000 LMT Brest-Litovsk)
Menachem Begin started his political carreer as a terrorist. He had Sun sesquiquadrate Mars/Uranus.

4. William of Orange (the first, 24041533 085000 LMT Dillenburg)
Willem van Oranje (William the Silent) has Sun conjunct Mars/Uranus in the natal chart.

5. Mohammed B. (murdered Theo van Gogh, born 8th of March 1978)
(Recently called the leader of the Hofstadgroup and in prison now. Mohammed B. has Sun trine Mars and trine Uranus and that Sun is making an opposition within 2 degrees of orb with Mars/Uranus.
Mohammed B.'s Saturn is right in between Mars and Pluto of his victim Theo van Gogh. His Mars is on the midheaven of Theo van Gogh and his Pluto conjunct the Ascendant of Van Gogh. We see a double combination of violent death: Mars-Saurn-Pluto.)

7. Osama Bin Laden (10th of March 1957)
Mars conjunct Sun/Uranus

The Sun square Saturn and Mars square Pluto and Saturn quindecile Pluto: a combination for using hard violence. Fifty percent in watersigns: to be influenced and involved too much, a desire to belong. Sun square Sarturn and sesquisquare Uranus: limited freedom. No placements in airsigns and an afflicted Mercury: not always reasonable. Mercury square Saturn in Sagittarius: not always telling the truth about being strickt in applying the religious rules. These are observations of the positions for the day that Osama Bin Laden is supposed to be born. That was on March 10 1957 in Jeddah (time unknown) according to the CIA. On that day there are combinations for success, but there are also indicatons for limitations of freedom and for hard confrontations. Yet, the narrowest aspect is Mercury conjunct Venus: he is a communication talent.

ACCIDENTS
Explanation:
Mars with Uranus is an explosive combination. Mars is energy, Uranus is the spark. Uranus is also the planet of ‘now or never’. Two explosives coming together to execute radical solutions… Somtimes the one with these indications becomes the victim of an accident (perhaps as a result of being hasty). This was the case with the next persons. Mind you: it take at least three indications for heavy accidents!

Conclusion :
Ebertin calls Mars/Uranus the principle of sudden effort and sociological: the freedom fighter or revolutionary. Accidents, injuries and operations are part of the meaning of Mars/Uranus. Harmonically it does indicate the good result of a dangerous situation. People with these aspects will not give in easily and be rebellious. Those are characteristics that might cause accidents. Combined with the Sun life can change drastically due to an accident, arrest or in the case of women a birth or pregnancy.

It takes more then one aspect or midpoint combination always! That does not make astrology an easy subject to statistics. But perhaps these examples clarify that Mars-Uranus stands for the unexpected action to bring a radical solution and that action sometimes collides with the life and will of others or with the law.

Moussaoui, born 30th of May 1968 in Saint Jean de Luz, France took part in the preparations of the attacks op 9-11. This terrorist also has a connection between these planets. Natal Sun is conjunct Mars and square Pluto. Mars is (widely) square Uranus and is semi square the midpoints Sun/Uranus and Sun/Pluto. The mark of a man who wants to make changes with struggle and violence.
