Wealth in the chart with Placidus and whole house

Full house with whole house?
House systems are one of the weak sides of astrology, IMO. I never think much about houses. In this post however,  I am thinking about them. Just thinking...? No, I also try to check a few things.  Like:
A. Is it the 2nd house or the 11th house that indicates possible wealth?
B. Is it the Placidus system or the whole sign house system that connects the 2nd and 11th house with the 10th house (and NOT the 12th) in the charts of those who became rich?
C. DOES a chart indicate wealth at all?

That is a lot to think about, especially because I am not very fond of house systems and if I can avoid houses, I will, though sometimes I mention them. This aversion against houses started with the meaning of Saturn in my 7th house (Placidus), while I married young and am still married and my husband is my age. I know that assumptions like getting married late or marrying a person with age difference or more/less status are not used in modern astrology (the 'political correct' astrology), but this idea still lives and can be found on websites, too. In the Porphyry house system, Saturn moves to the 8th house. What system should I use?

And what house ruler? The ancient rulers (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) in modern times have to share their rulership with Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Meanwhile Libra-Taurus and Gemini-Virgo still have to share their ruler. Also, Cancer's ruler is the Moon (a satellite instead of a planet). It is so very confusing, and it makes such a difference!

Picture this: my house ruler 1 might be Jupiter in 12 or in 1. It might also be Neptune in 7 or in 8. So I have 1/3 of the 12 houses as an option! Now who am I? Am I a typical 1 in 7, a 1 in 8, a 1 in1 or a 1 in 12 person? And how about the other house rulers? The differences between Placidus, Porphyry and Whole-sign are amazing! And I haven't even tried to other systems!
And that is bad, because lots of people tend to connect 'fate' to positions in houses. If that assumption is correct, there can only be one correct system or you go the wrong way!:)

There are astrologers who use rulership placements to define if someone will or will not get children, be rich and famous, get a wedding party one day or be in jail, regardless of their social circumstances. The 12th house, in their opinion, is a bad house and ruler 10 in 12 doesn't help you to become rich and famous. Ruler 10 in 2 is so much better, they say. It is also important to have planets in the second house. Let me test this '10-2 12-2' idea.

Donald Trump is a controversial person. He wants to become the President of the USA and though he has many followers (40% of the Republican voters) few think that he will ever be the POTUS. Hillary Clinton has better 'cards' (even though her time of birth is unknown*). Donald Trump is rich (so is Hillary, but he has more money than she has). Now let's see how this wealth is being mirrored by the chart in the whole-sign-house-system and in the Placidus house system.

SECOND HOUSE
Usually the second house is used to see how the finances are.

Donald Trump has ruler 10 in 12 in the whole-house-system and an empty 2nd house, even though with the 2nd lord in 12! Also, in the whole-sign-house-system transit Jupiter is in the 2nd house at the time of his bankruptcy!

In Placidus and in Porphyry he has Neptune and Jupiter in the 2nd house for the wealth (and for the bankruptcy on October 5, 1991). The 2nd house ruler is in 11 there.  In Placidus the bankruptcy was  with transit Mars exactly conjunct the 2nd house cusp. See the chart with transits and progressions for October 5, 1991 (first is the whole sign chart, the second one is for Placidus):

It might be, of course, that the whole house system rules and Donald Trump will give away all his money to charity and give up his ambitions (a 12th house idea). Otherwise, Now how about Hillary Clinton? It is hard to say, because her time of birth is a well kept secret. Astrologers are best off with the chart of Bill Gates, who has 2 planets (Jupiter and Pluto) in the 2nd house Placidus and even 3 in the whole-house-system, without relationships between 2 and 12. In the whole-sign-system Oprah's second house Placidus Sun, Mercury and Venus move over to the 3rd, leaving the 2nd house empty...

It is always like that with house systems. Even the whole house doesn't provide a full house! Or, could it be that the 2nd house is more about public performance than about wealth? Up to now the results seem to be in favor of the Placidus system and that means that I have to tolerate that Saturn in 7 of mine:).

Of course, planets in the 2nd house just give us information about public performance and what you have (talents or money). Ruler 2 in 12 might waste talent and money.  Have I told you yet that my ruler 2 is in 10 in Placidus? I am not rich (yet:).

ELEVENTH HOUSE
There are astrologers who say that wealth and gain is in the 11th house,(http://www.astrologykrs.com/wealth-in-astrology.html here is an example)

In that case, in the whole-sign-house-system, lord of the 11th house is in 12 (Mercury) and there are planets in the 11th house in both systems for Donald Trump. The 12th house is a drain! Or is the 12th house media, too (all behind the screens?). In Placidus the lord of the 11th house is in 4 (real estate!).

Bill Gates has an empty 11th house, with it's ruler Venus in 5, conjunct Saturn. 5 is a lucky house  and the house of entertainment, plays and games.

Oprah has Moon+Mars (Placidus) or Neptune (whole house) in 11 with ruler 11 in 3 always. The 3rd house is the house of talk-talk-talk.

MORE EXAMPLES
  • Michael Schumacher has ruler 2 in 10 and Venus in the 11th house in Placidus, In whole-sign: empty 2 and 11, ruler 2 in 9.
  • Dominique Strauss Kahn has ruler 2 and ruler 11 in 10, Mercury+Uranus in 11 and Saturn in 2 in Placidus. In whole-sign: rulers 2 and 11 in 10, empty 2nd house, Uranus in 11.
  • Duchess of York Sarah has Jupiter ruler 2 in 2; Venus and Pluto in 11 and ruler 11 in 1 in whole-sign. In Placidus, Saturn is in the 2nd house and Venus in 11. Ruler 2 is in 1 and ruler 11 in ...12.
  • Bernie Madoff had transit Saturn conjunct Placidus cusp 2 on December 10, 2008 (the day of his confession). His chart has an empty second house. Pluto, ruler 4 is in 11 and Neptune in 1. Ruler 2 in 9. Now the whole-sign-chart: Neptune in 2 and Mars in 11. Ruler 2 and 11 in 9. (Here you may choose which system is better:)
  • Angelina Jolie has 2 in 11 and 11 in 12, an empty 2nd house and Sun+Mercury in 11 in Placidus. In the whole-sign chart we see both houses empty, with ruler 2 in 12.

The Placidus system generally seems to be a better tool to see how the finances are, no matter if you use the 2nd or 11th house to see what rich people have (2) or gain (11), but not always  Maybe there is a reason why most astrologers prefer to use Placidus... Of course, this list doesn't contain enough examples to be sure. This try out of house systems is only valid if it is true that the 2nd and 11th house related to 10 offer better prospects for richness, than the 12th...And of course, it takes a whole chart and you need to know circumstances, too.

But I have the idea, that I have to stick to that Saturn in 7 (in an intercepted sign, maybe that 'helps') or that I continue to try to avoid houses. I am still not convinced. Maybe I should try other houses?

Do you use house rulers much? What system do you use and why do you think it is a good one? And where do you look for 'wealth' in a chart? Questions, questions...

Zero degree declination (Progressed) Moon

Did you know that Dominique Strauss Kahn and Bill Cosby share a Moon declination in the 1st degree, close to point Zero? Dominique Strauss Kahn later had a progressed Moon out of bounds, while the progressed Moon of Cosby remaind in bounds. What could the difference be between molesting ladies WITH or WITHOUT a progressed Moon OOB? This?
Molesting females WITH OOB Progressed Moon makes you lose your wife and reputation because you are beyond your limits.
Molesting females WITHOUT OOB Progressed Moon means that you can go and and on....because the community protects you.
When you were born with the Moon in the 1st degree of declination, would haat mean that your OOB Progressed Moon brings you in a danger zone? Or would it mean that the theme of how to deal with women will be prominent? Is the 1ste degree of declination the lowest for behaviour? Of course, there is more than just that declination, and we shouldn't generalize, but still: I find the fact that they both have that Zero degree Moon very interesting.
But now this one: the declination of the progressed Moon of Máxima Zorreguieta (now wife of the King of the Netherlands)... When the Dutch Queen got engaged and married the progressed Moon (going to be OOB later) would be at a very low point in the graph (although in 2002 - year of the marriage - the progressed Moon got higher again). In her natal chart, the Moon is In Bounds and in the 12th South. I think that there is something uncontrollable about the progressed Moon at Zero degrees declination. I think that, because her life was dominated by the public's opinion, the media and politics and that - at that point - lost her independence.
Could it just be, that the Zero Degreee Declination of the Moon refers to a critical and not so controllable point?
Right now, the Moon is in the 11th degree of declination, in bounds. If you want to know where your natal or progressed Moon is, try Astro.com (Exertion diagram progressed declination in the Special Charts section). Progressed Moon Out of Bounds: special periods?

Does the Out of Bounds declination of the progressed Moon signify a period of successes or is the OOB progressed Moon a risk? To answer this question I looked at the charts of Lance Armstrong, Dominique Strauss Kahn, Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, JK Rowling and Jean-Marie le Pen. I came to the conclusion that the four years before reaching the highest degree, the progressed Out of Bounds Moon signals an exceptional period of growth (and alienation), while the first time after reaching the top position, there seems to be a danger of decay.
When the progressed Moon was OOB and reaches the lowest position later, there is a period of drawing back (a pause).

You can find the declinations of the Progressed Moon in the Special Charts of Astro.com (select Ebertin Life Diagram Progressed Declination). A position is Out of Bounds when it reaches a declination degree of  23° 26' 14.675″ (23° 26′ 16″) north of the Equator or  23° 26' 14.440 South.

For a better view of the graphics:
CTR + Tap or click in the chart, open new window and maximize the size!

My examples are:

1. LANCE ARMSTRONG
Lance Armstrong had a very successful period after his illness and later he lost it all…Progressions and transits cooperated with the declination of the progressed Moon.
-       In October of 1996 he found out that he had cancer. This was with progressed Moon on 14d36N, almost parallel Pluto. From that moment on the Moon moved to zero degrees in 1999.
-       The Moon moved upwards later, and in 2002 the progressed Moon was again parallel Pluto.
-       Between 2005 and 2008 there was a progressed OOB Moon S. In 2006/2007 the progressed Moon reached the highest level. That was when he quit biking and had had good years (think of Livestrong). In 2008 he had his comeback.
-       In 2012,when he was 40, the progressed Moon had again become parallel with Pluto and the ‘demasqué’ began. He lost all his titels.
Apparently the Moon-Pluto parallel mirrors extreme experiences and the OOB Moon S mirror his best years (but, ….only for outsiders). If life would repeat itself, then from 2017 on better days are coming for Armstrong.

In the 4 years before reaching the top level of the OOB Moon (2002-2006) he was popular, rich and happy as far as we could see.

2. DSK
Dominique Strauss Kahn had a very high and powerful position between 2007 and 2011. The Moon moved ‘up’ since 2007. Between2009 and 2014 the progressed Moon was OOB. On the day of his arrest in 2011 the progressed Moon in the 6th degree of Cancer (28d8N) moved down again and right now, the progressed Moon is ‘in bounds’ again. Just like in the Lance Armstrong case, the 4 years before the top level of declination of the progressed Moon seem to the most prosperous of them all.

3. HILLARY
Hillary Clinton wants to be the next president in 2016. That is when her progressed Moon is at a low degree of declination, South. During the Lewinsky affair, when she was First Lady, she had the OOB progressed Moon on a high degree South.
It is still uncertain if she will ever have such a position again. But the transits and progressions of November 2016 are:
1.    Transit Jupiter square midpoint Sun/Moon
2.    Transit Jupiter square progressed Sun
3.   Progressed Sun conjunct natal Sun/Mooon
4.   Transit Jupiter square her Mercury
5.   Progressed Sun conjunct Mercury
3x Jupiter, the planet of successes.

So we will have to wait and see who wins: Jupiter or the declination of the progressed Moon.

4. TRUMP
Donald Trump’s progressed Moon is OOB and will be over the top in November 2016. Some of his party members think he is over the top already:). Meanwhile, he is doing well in the polls.

5. JK ROWLING
J.K. Rowling invented Harry Potter in 1990. In 1997, 4 years before the top level of the OOB progressed Moon, she found a publisher.  (Note: don’t use the ASC and MC positions as this is a guess chart).

6. LE PEN
Jean-Marie le Pen was thrown out of his own party now that the progressed Moon is close to zero degrees in declination.

7. JFK
John F. Kennedy was murdered on  November 22, 1963. That was when the progressed OOB Moon was not yet at the highest possible level, but in the 25th degree (he was born with a Moon in the 1ste degree N). So, he was in his best years when someone ended his life suddenly, with transit Uranus conjunct progressed Midheaven.

! Many VIPs never had an OOB Moon (like Bono, Bill Cosby, Cliff Richard) and ever so many unknown people DO have OOB Progressed Moons.

8. MORE EXAMPLES
Read the story of Kurt Cobain, who died only 4 months after the moment that the progressed OOB Moon reached a 27d48 top level.
Other examples of Steven Forrest: Yuri Gagarin (astronaut, progressed Moon OOB in space), Martin Luther King…

CONCLUSION
Progressed Moon OOB can represent a temporary top level that may be lost when the Moon goes on her way down again, especially when difficult aspects in the progressed chart, by transit or in the natal chart indicate this possibility. Every progressed OOB Moon seems to lift your social level with a number of risks. But don’t you worry: you can rise high and fall deep without an OOB Moon as wellJ! The progressed Moon OOB is one of more indications that it takes to mirror a special period and has to be considered with the circumstances and the natal and progressed chart in mind.  The positive side of the progressed Moon OOB is the chance to reach above yourself and your situation. The negative side is alienation. The astronaut in space is a nice example of that.

The 4 years before the top level of the OOB Moon seem to be the best social years, while the 1ste year after is the most vulnerable year. DSK was arrested, Kurt Cobain died, JK Rowling wrote on and on until the Moon was at almost zero degrees. Then she paused…

The progressed OOB Moon is not in control. John F. Kennedy died in the best years of his life. Maybe because he went ‘too far’ in the eyes of his enemies?

And how about Jean-Marie le Pen’s zero degree Progressed Moon? Maybe that is food for the next post!

Question: ever experienced an OOB Progressed Moon? And what happened? Feel free to share your examples.

PS To complete this study, I’ll have to check examples with top level Progressed Moon IN Bounds periods to see if there is a similar effect…

Declinations (parallel/contra parallel)

This is a sort of a follow up on declinations. I wrote about Out of Bounds positions earlier (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2014/01/out-of-bounds.html ). There I explained what declination and OOB is. Now I want to brainstorm a bit about parallel and contra parallel aspects. How to find these aspects? Well, go to Astro.com, select the Additional Tables. Every Sun, Moon, MC, Ascendant and planet has a declination degree, minute and second and a position S (South) or N (North). Use a 16' orb and try to find those positions that come close (for example 23d50m10sN and 24d02m06sN) or those positions in contra parallel (like 23d50m10sS and 24d02m06sN). Is there any contra parallel in your chart, than ask yourself: am I aware that this aspect is important for me? I think that contra parallels are not so obvious as parallels are, just like they are not so obvious from the point of view of one of the objects. But first I want to show you some examples.
On August 4, 1961 POTUS Barack Obama was born. On the same day, in my country, two persons were born who make their living by means of communications. That day, there was a beautiful parallel combination in the sky: Mercury 20gr41m48s N, Jupiter 20gr35m24N and Pluto 20gr34m1sN. Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto made 'common aspects, too: Mercury opposite Jupiter and quintile Pluto. So, there is a double combination to indicate a big amount of words, success by communications and the possibility of earning money singing, writing, negotiating or speaking. The declination aspects support the usual aspects. Obama, as an extra, has Moon parallel Descendant AND trine Jupiter for popularity. That made me think about other American top politicians. Did they have such parallel, too? And how about others?
  1. Hillary Clinton’s probable Descendant is parallel Mars
  1. Bill Clinton has Mars parallel Ascendant (Hillary and Bill mirroring each other!) and a parallel conjunction of Uranus, Pluto and MC. Jupiter is parallel Chiron.
  1. George W. Bush: Uranus parallel Node.
  1. John F. Kennedy had Venus parallel Southern Node and MC parallel Saturn (plus Saturn conjunct MC).
  1. Amanda Knox: Sun contra parallel Neptune in the 8th house of life and death
  1. Bill Cosby: Sun contra parallel Jupiter
  2. Dominique Strauss Kahn: Jupiter parallel Descendant; Sun, Mars and Saturn parallel
  1. Tour de France biker Joop Zoetemelk: Jupiter parallel MC and Uranus + Pluto parallel Ascendant. Jupiter, Pluto and Uranus have key positions in the chart, too.
This mix makes you see that it is not easy to find the meaning of parallel and contraparallel aspects in a way that it shows you the person's life or career. Cafe Astrology tried to interpret the parallels (and contra parallels as well) (http://www.cafeastrology.com/natal/declinationsparallels.html ). Most sites and books say that a parallel is like a conjunction and a contra parallel is like an opposition. Is it? I think that the parallel and contra parallel (not conscious) aspects support the existing most important aspects and placements, for good or bad. And I keep thinking. For example about my own Sun/MC trine Pluto, with Sun parallel Midheaven and both contra parallel Pluto, in combination with Moon contra parallel Uranus. Usually Pluto is considered to be a difficult symbol. But now that we know that icy Pluto has a big heart, could we see Pluto as a courageous, brave and defending symbol too? That is according the sign that Pluto 'rules': Scorpio, a water sign. Pluto has fluid, Pluto has ice, Pluto is warm inside... Maybe after the progressed Mars inconjunct Pluto that is exact in my chart next week, I will let you know...

PLEASE DO THE POLL about declinations (on the right, till August 1)! Thank you in avance!

Quaoar and new worlds

This is the chart of Edward Shackleton, a courageous explorer and role model of a leader keeping his team together (and rescuing them). This Aquarian had Quaoar on his Descendant. The axis Ascendant-Descendant can be seen as 'your horizon' and Quaoar is on that spot: 'new worlds on the horizon'. His new worlds were icy cold and perhaps the Capricorn Ascendant likes it 'cool':).
Quaoar is a dwarf planet (like Pluto now) in the Kuiper Belt, named after a Tvonga deity of cretions (another name for Quaoar is Chiniqchinix). If Quaoar is prominent in your chart, creating and shaping new worlds, possibilities and realities is a key theme in your life.

Here are some ideas about aspects with Quaoar, with examples.
  • Sun-Quaoar
When Quaoar is the first object rising before the Sun (the object that your finger meets when you move your finger clockwise over the chart, starting with the Sun), you are probably a person who finds more possibilities and perspective than others do. This enables you to 'shape your own life'.
Difficult aspects between Sun and Quaoar could reflect the person who creates his own problems. I think of Dominique Strauss Kahn with Sun inconjunct Quaoar.
  • Moon-Quaoar
President Obama has an aspect between Moon and Quaoar in the natal chart. This enables him to shape the emotional atmosphere and ...it gives the need to create new possibilities and realities. Unfortunately the aspect is a sesquisquare and that is frustrating him. This aspect might also mirror difficulties in adapting to new situations. Ernest Shackleton had Moon inconjunct Quaoar.
  • Sun/Moon-Quaoar
Midpoint Sun/Moon in hard aspect with Quaoar is motivating strongly to create new perspectives. This urge to shape a 'new world' is present in the chart of David Cameron, the British PM.
  • Mercury-Quaoar
A beneficial aspect between Mercury and Quaoar could work out like in the chart of Steve Jobs (Mercury trine Quaoar) as 'creative ideas'.
  • Venus-Quaoar
First I had no examples for this combination that could make the world a better place, but then I remembered the song of Michael Jackson ('make the world a better place, for me and for you...lalalala'), who's chart has Venus in a narrow sextile with Quaoar.

  • Mars-Quaoar
How to shape competition? Mars afflicted by Quaoar is an aggressive drive to fight to create new realities. Ahmadinejad's chart has Mars semi square Quaoar.
  • Ascendant-Quaoar
Barack Obama has Ascendant trine Quaoar and he is the man of the new perspectives. Think of Shackleton's Quaoar on the Descendant, opposition Ascendant and how he explored new worlds. The Quaoar trine is much easier. It is the symbol for a man who sees the light sooner than others do.
Quaoar is essential when this object is in a square, conjunction or opposition with midpoint Ascendant/MC or when there is an aspect with both Ascendant and Midheaven.

Where is your Quaoar? Find out here: http://www.astro.com/swisseph/quaoar.htm

Mars-Mars synastry

When - in a relationship - Mars is in conflict with the partner's Mars, you might expect fire. When there is fire, you might also get hurt.

Maybe that is why there are so many examples of conflicts of Mars in synastry in the charts of divorced couples.

Let us say that when there is a Mars-Mars synastry, there is at least smoke and often fire, and even more often: sex (as an issue of importance). Fact is that this fire can cause arguments and even fights.

In not romantic relationships Mars-Mars synastry mirrors either cooperation or competition. When Mars is conjunct Mars, you may expect joined drives to achieve a common goal. Their may be (sometimes stimulating) conflicts between you when Mars is in hard aspect with Mars, but an opposition might see you end up in a duel or you just split up, in the end.

Depending on the situation and on the other players in the synastry Mars will be the warming fire or the overheated fighter. It is up to us to keep it in control. To some of us, that is harder.

Angelica Rivera, Mars-Pluto, politics and domestic violence

It is a very violent time in Mexico right now. There is a drug war going on with many murders. There is also a story about domestic violence at the top. They say that the wife of the man who won the 2012 elections is the victim of domestic violence and that she even had to spent time in hospital (in March) because he had beaten her up. Angelica Rivera (nick name 'La Gaviota') is a famous actress.

Here is her chart with transits (actual positions) and progressions (birthday + one day for one year):

Watch the Mars-Pluto combination:
- natal Mars semi square Pluto
- transit Pluto inconjunct Mars
When a transit is between planets that make an aspect in the natal chart, this transit has a strong effect.
Mars-Pluto is a brutal combination. Pluto always intensifies. Mars is the symbol of drive, action and aggression.

I've written a lot about Mars-Pluto here and on Astromarkt.  It isn't an easy aspect to deal with. It is in the charts of violent men/women and their victims. And it is in the chart of those who deal with competition and who simply want to win. That is why I need to mention that the story about the abuse turned up right before the elections. The opposition doesn't accept the results of the elections. There was an intense competition (Mars-Pluto)! On December 1 the presidency of Peña Nieto, the husband of La Goviata will begin.

SYNASTRY
The synastry chart of ' La Gaviota' and mr. President Elected has a Mars-Uranus interaction, just like between Dominque Strauss-Kahn and the chamber maid (see the post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/06/nafissatour-diallo-astrology-and-dsk.html )
There aren't many matches. Her Jupiter is 'with' his Sun and in synastry that is the theme of helping, support and protection. It is like in the synastry of Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem (see that post: http://astrology-love-romance.blogspot.nl/2010/07/famous-couplesthe-jupiter-of-penelope.html )
