Mars sextile Pluto and the abuse of power

How does a seemingly ordinary mix of aspects correspond with crimes?

I already wrote about the number of sextiles and trines*) in the charts of criminals They often go for the easy way out (earning money without working, for example, or killing your hubby for the insurance money). Well, medical doctor Melvin L. Morse tortured his step-daughter by means of water boarding. Maybe it was the easiest way to test his theories on near death experiences. He told his daughter that she could remain under water for 5 minutes without brain damage…

The hardest major aspect in his chart is Mars square Uranus and there are a few more or less narrow trines and sextile, like Mars sextile Pluto. I think that this aspect allowed him to use his strength and power against his step daughter. It is not that you MUST abuse power with this aspect. It is just that it can.

Melvin L. Morse is the author of several works on near death experiences of …children. He also wrote about ritual suffocation. He was born on December 11, 1953 and on that day these were the most significant astrological positions (Astro ID). Of course, without an hour of birth the angular positions and the degrees of Moon, Ascendant, MC and Sun/Moon midpoint remain unknown.

Mercury is ‘calling’ (no Ptolemeic aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees), for communication at any kind of level, somehow and anyhow. He is a writer.

Saturn rises before the Sun, showing the importance of status, parenthood (and parents) and responsibilities.

Saturn is ‘calling’, like Mercury is. Status, ambition, a position: at any level…

The prominence of both Mercury and Saturn is the prominence of a combination that is related to science (official knowledge).

Now we have the importance of science and the character for the different approach…

Mars sextile Pluto is the most narrow aspect in this chart.

It is the aspect of use and abuse of power, because of the intensity of his drives and energy. Mars is also square Uranus (for the short fuse). The Mars-Uranus-Pluto combination shows the drive to forcing changes and an exceptional drive to win (taking risks) here and now.

In addition, the narrow Venus trine Eris symbolizes the love for discord (enjoying discord). Venus is also ‘calling’. This makes him charming and creative enough to be a beloved (Venus) scientific (Mercury Saturn) author (Mercury). With Jupiter/Pluto sesquisquare Venus he had a lot of success in society.

Apply his Astro ID to what they tell us that he did, and you almost see the reason behind it. Sun opposition Jupiter tells us about success and question marks regarding this success. It is the same story as the ‘positive’ negative dope control: some people don’t get away with it. How a person with such a chart became a bullying terrorist at home is maybe visible in the Moon opposition Pluto and trine Mars (intens feelings released in using violence). But it takes an hour of birth for an analysis of the progressions and transits that lead him to where he is now (in prison).

He also founded the Spiritiual Scientific Research Foundation.

The ‘spirituality’ doesn’t seem obvious with this chart of the day, but the Moon could be trine Neptune, too. Moon with Neptune and Pluto mirrors the need to explore the unseen world (and is often related to addiction to drugs, medication or alcohol, too).

*) For those who don't know: sextiles are distances of about 60 degree between two position in a chart, trines have a distance of about 120 degrees. They are considered to be 'easy', harmonic or soft aspects. They enable the easy flow between two symbols. Just for the record:

Obama in hype-time

Here is the chart of Obama, his natal positions, some progressions and transits. The astrological weather prediction for Obama promisses sudden mist and faint lightning. The symbols of flashes and unclarity are making hard aspects with his Sun today and tomorrow. Uranus and Neptune*) hit his Sun: it is time for a hype around his person again (a combination of true and false news in the media). And there is progressed Mercury square Saturn: mental restraint, worries and criticism...

Three is a crowd and those are three difficult transits and progressions to deal with in the light of the steps to next elections (November 2, 2010; election for House of Representatives). Time seems to be against him right now.

What is up in his chart?

Mercury-Saturn, Naomi Campbell and Mia Farrow

Naomi Campbell and Mia Farrow have different recollections of what happened on September 29/30 1997. Naomi thinks that she received a pouch with dirty stones that she gave away asap, not knowing if they came from Charles Taylor. Mia Farrow believes that Naomi said she got a (hughe) diamond from Charles Taylor and that she was excited about it. It seems that Mia Farrow's memory is better...
It is a classical Mercury-Saturn thing...

Above is the chart of Naomi Campbell.The transits are the positions on the day of birth of Mia Farrow (the Moon degree for her hour of birth is the 12th, btw).
The charts of Mia Farrow and Naomi Campbell contain the same aspect combination: Mercury-Saturn.
Mia Farrow has Mercury inconjunct Saturn and that Naomi Campbell has Mercury conjunct Saturn. They share a Mercury-Saturn combination. In the article about sharing aspects I wrote about Mercury-Saturn:

Mercury and Saturn: sharing the same hard convictions, being serious about that. With hard aspects you are both mistrusting the world outside and that is what joins you.

Since I wrote that, I noticed that Saturn is often about critism, too and that the connection of Mrcury and Saturn might be reflecting critisism about one's statements or ideas. Or about statements!

Mercury-Saturn is one of the aspect combinations of the post about 'slow answers,lies and Mercury'. Maybe sharing this aspect means that there is an issue about statements of the past. And apparently the world is not sure about who is telling the truth (and who is remembering the words of 13 years ago). Another quote about Mercury and Saturn (see Mercury and Lies, link below):

You just don't tell it all, sometimes because it is not official, or allowed or decent.

There may be many reasons for being cautious when you communicate and when Mercury-Saturn is around.
And there may also have been many reasons for not telling the truth at breakfast. Astrology doesn't help in such cases. The charts just reflect the issue of being restrictive with information, the Mercury-Saturn issue.
BTW: now that their statements are conflicting, we see Mia's Mercury square the progressed Sun of Naomi.

The confession of Joran van der Sloot

Joran van der Sloot confessed, says the police in Peru. His progressed chart shows a combination of Mercury-Saturn and Pholus. Does this reflect an official (Saturn) self damaging (Pholus) statement (Mercury)? This combination of Mercury-Saturn and Pholus was already there in the natal chart (without hour of birth) and is repeated now.

Following the earlier messages about the birth positions of Joran van der Sloot, and the post about Van der Sloot being a subject again, here is something about his Mercury. Joran van der Sloot is a good liar (he is a poker player). Afflicted Mercuries point at the ability to vary and twist communications and mental state the hard way. (And some professions aquire a tough or flexible mentality or interest). There is a post about Mercury and lying on this blog here…

MERCURY IN BIRTH CHART
In the natal chart of Joran van der Sloot we see an afflicted Mercury exactly square Jupiter and sesquisquare Saturn. There is also a biquintile with Uranus. He can limit (Saturn), change (Uranus) or expand (Jupiter) facts or subjects of conversation. Those are the kind of qualities that a poker player needs, besides a poker face or a cap to hide your expression.

MERCURY IN THE PROGRESSED CHART: aspects combinations repeated!
In the progressed chart of Joran van der Sloot we see that Mercury moved fast. The afflicted Mercury is now exactly sesquisquare Jupiter and exactly square Saturn.
This means that the original nature of his communications are now ‘ triggered’ by progressions and that his mind has strong ups and downs now.

PHOLUS AND MERCURY
In the natal and progressed chart of Joran van der Sloot, Mercury is in aspect with Pholus, the symbol of turning points and 'shooting your own feet'. In the natal chart Mercury is sextile Pholus, but in the progressed chart there is a 105 degree minor aspect. Progressed and natal Saturn are quindecile Pholus. The Mercury-Saturn-Pholus combination of the natal chart is again active in the progressed chart. We could read the combination as the official statement of a turning point or: ' shooting your own feet with lies'.

And now, confronted with the images of the hotel door on video, Joran van der Sloot confessed.

How about the effect of the 'harmonious' trine? Sometimes trines just make it easy to get isolated and lost with Neptune. It seems that he tried to sell information about the whereabouts of the death body of Natalee Holloway and that the FBI knew it. He was living in a false world of poker games, drugs and illusions.

John Cleese and the taxi:Mercury-Saturn

John Cleese has to work to pay his ex-wife and that is why he was in such a hurry to get to Brussels from Oslo, that he took a cab. Because of the vulcanic dust he could not go by plane and there was no place left in the train. It was so expensive that he has to do another show, I am afraid. See ABC news... His progressed Mercury in Sagittarius is suare transit Saturn. That is blocking transportations and making it difficult to keep an appointment. There will be delay, somehow, just like in the chart of Danish Queen Margrethe (birthday today, royal guests can't come by plane).
