Donald Sterling's Mercury-Jupiter

Any aspect between Mercury and Jupiter is rather fortunate for communications and the reach of the voice. It is definitely one of the aspects contributing to success in the world out there. Jupiter, however, has an arrogant and exaggerating side that, with Mercury, doesn't really help human interactions. I wrote about that side of Mercury-Jupiter before and in that post I mentioned the late Mr. Phelps's Mercury inconjunct Jupiter.  Mr. Phelps knew how to broadcast hate speech.

Today, I have a new example of the difficulties of Mercury-Jupiter affliction: Donald Sterling, born April 26, 1934.  He was talking too loud. On April 9 this year there was an audio recording of a conversation that was released on April 25. He was arguing with his Stiviano who posted a picture on Instagram posing with Magic Johnson.
His Mercury is in Aries, opposition Jupiter. His progressed Mercury is at 16d Cancer now, square Jupiter.
Whenever a transit or progression repeats a natal combination, the effect is harder than with other transits or progressions (see about 'resonance'), so it was likely to expect some kind of opinion being broadcasted loudly, as one might expect to happen with a person with a Mercury-Jupiter conflict (at least once in a life time).
In the natal chart his Mercury is opposition Jupiter and square Pluto. That is a combination for an expanding vocabulary and success in communications or business. It might even be so, that in spite of what he said, there will be people supporting his opinion, because Jupiter helps blindfolded and not always according to our wishes. Mr. Phelps also had his supporters...
It is also true, that he had a great career. He really made it. He began as an independent divorce and personal injury attorney and became a business magnate, rich enough to own the Los Angeles Clippers (a team valued at 575 million dollars). Mercury is sesquisquare Jupiter/Pluto and that one of the indications for success on April 26, 1934.
It takes more of such indications, of course. But, as we don't know what time Donald Sterling was born, we will never know about his MC or AC, the exact midpoint Sun/Moon and/or angular placements, but I guess there will be more keys to success for us to find once that we know his hour of birth.

He probably always had that kind of ideas. In 2006 he was accused of racism, too. That was with transit Jupiter inconjunct his natal Mercury. Transit Saturn was square his Sun in that period. That transit mirrored criticism. Now, transit Saturn is trine progressed Sun (making it easy to criticize him:).

This time there are a few difficulties.
a. Transit Ixion is inconjunct progressed Sun. I wrote about Ixion's meanings and one of them is that of 'the bad guy'. See that post http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2014/03/what-is-ixion-lets-test-it.html

b. Transit Eris is square Progressed Sun (discord!)

c. Transit Mars is opposition Mercury (for a dispute)

d. And even more important: Donald Sterling's progressed Sun is conjunct Pluto, making way for challenges, stress and crisis. There will be consequences and maybe there is a price to pay. No matter how old he is, because there will be no discrimination.

In http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/10/progressed-sun-opposition-pluto.html I mention that with progressed Sun conjunct Pluto Salvador Dali married his Gala and that it was the very first time that he had sex. Sun-Pluto times are intense times and impressive times that change you.

So, there is more than enough astrological evidence for an angry dispute and the challenge of being 'a bad guy'.

PS The picture above shows Jupiter with Mercury and Virtue.

Charts of geniuses Majorana, Perelman and Turing

Dutch professor Kouwenhoven and crew managed to ‘see’ the Majorana particle, an important part of a super computer to be (but maybe you’d better read BBC about it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17695944 )

The Majorana particle was predicted by Ettore Majorana, a genius who disappeared at age 31. His chart and ‘disappearance’ looks like that of Grigori Perelman, a contemporary genius. That is what I found when I remembered the Saturn in Pisces of Grigori Perelman and started looking for more similarities in the chart positions, more specific I had a look at their Sun, Mercury and Saturn. I found that Perelman and Majorana both have Mars rising before the 'calling' Sun and Saturn in Pisces. They share a Mercury-Jupiter aspect. Both dealt with a challenging transit of Pluto when they withdrew or disappeared.

Here is the complete comparison of the charts of three famous scientists: Majorana, Perelman and Turing. These geniuses have/had difficulties. Majorana simply disappeared, age 31. Perelman now lives the life of a hermit. Turing, instead of being honored, suffered from being prosecuted because of his homosexuality and died in suspicious circumstances. What they share is a ‘calling’ Sun (drawing attention at any possible level) and a Mercury-Jupiter aspect. Majorana and Perelman both have Saturn in Pisces. Quoting myself:
The opposite of Jupiter in Pisces, endless mistrust. They seem to feel obligated to suffer, be lonely or their faith is a heavy load to carry. Very few politicians have this positionhttp://astropost.blogspot.com/2008/04/pisces-sun-sign-pisces-moon-planets.html

MAJORANA
Ettore Majorana is the scientist who ‘invented’ the Majorana particle. After that he vanished on March 27, 1938, age 31.

This is his chart (B-rated!) with transits and progressions for March 27, 1938.

His Saturn is in Pisces. Mars rises before his sun. When he vanished it was in a challenging period with lots of stress, apparently, because transit Pluto was sesquisquare his Progressed Sun.

His natal Sun doesn’t make major (Ptolemaic) aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. . I name that a ‘calling’ sun: he will draw attention at any possible level.

Charts of scientists often have a Mercury-Saturn aspect. Majorana’s Mercury is quatronovile Saturn.
Majorana’s Mercury is septile Jupiter.

PERELMAN
Grigori Perelman is a scientist who solved a mathematical problem. He didn’t want to collect the prize and lives like a hermit (see the English Pravda: http://english.pravda.ru/science/tech/28-04-2011/117727-Grigori_Perelman-0/ ) His Saturn is in Pisces. Mars rises before his sun. When he withdrew from society, it was in a challenging period: transit Pluto was inconjunct his Sun.

His natal Sun doesn’t make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. He will draw attention at any possible level.

Charts of scientists often have a Mercury-Saturn aspect, I said, but Perelman doesn’t have it. His Mercury is conjunct Jupiter.

TURING
You don’t need to have a Saturn in Pisces to be a genius. Alan Turing’s Saturn is in Taurus, for example.

His natal Sun doesn’t make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. He will draw attention at any possible level.

Like in a lot of charts of scientists, his chart has an aspect between Mercury and Saturn: the novile.  Mercury is inconjunct Jupiter.

PS PALLAS
Just like in the chart of Einstein, Pallas is important in the chart of Turing. Pallas is 'calling' in the chart of Majorana.

Isn't astrology interesting?

Lottery and chart

HAPPY NEW YEAR! May 2012 be as you like it and make you feel happy!

On New Year’s Eve there are lotteries all over the world and the next morning people wonder why they were not as lucky as that winner of millions or thousands on television. The answer is clear: there is a minor chance to win. You have more chance to be stricken by thunder and lightning! But, what if your chart or horoscope doesn’t correspond at all with lucky winners? Could you stop spending money on lotteries? I bet not! It is fun. And lucky winners have been losers more often. So their charts don’t say much. However: what is all that Jupiter doing in their charts, transits and progressions?

There is an article on my site Astromarkt about three lucky and one unlucky winner of the lottery (http://www.astromarkt.net/astrology-and-winning-lottery.html). Mercury-Jupiter, Mars-Jupiter and Jupiter-Uranus were important in the lucky winners’ charts. Their were also Venus-Saturn and Venus-Pluto combinations in the charts of all four of them. Midpoint combinations with Jupiter/Uranus and Jupiter/Neptune completed the picture and there was even more (like a fixed star). Today I add another example to the list. I found the chart on Astro.com in their files. It is a French winner (in 2000) who shares the same kind of and the same amount of aspects with the winners in the first article. Here is the radix with progressions and transits.

I made a list of the aspects. Don’t miss:

Radix:
Sun square Jupiter and Uranus
Minor aspect Mercury and Jupiter (108 degrees)
Venus wide trine Pluto
Venus and Saturn rise before the Sun
Moon and Quaoar in the second house of money
(What he doesn’t have is Mars-Jupiter)

Progressions:
(6! And notice the angular Jupiter-Uranus!)
Progressed Jupiter and Uranus (on Ascendant) sextile progressed Sun!
Progressed Ascendant semi square Sun/Moon
Progressed Moon sextile Pluto
Progressed Mercury trine Mars
Progressed Venus conjunct Mars and P Mars

Transits (9! 3 with Jupiter)
Pholus (turning point) trine Progressed MC
Pholus trine Sun
Jupiter square Pholus
Jupiter inconjunct Quaoar
Jupiter inconjunct Second House Moon (getting out of balance due to positive financial change)
Neptune trine Moon and trine Midheaven
Uranus trine progressed Venus and opposition Progressed AC/MC
Transit Node conjunct Progressed Sun
Venus and Mars semi square Sun/Moon and Mars

So now you know that it takes a lot to be a winner...:)

Transits on the road

Usually I don't make notes or keep a diary (and I really plan - again- to do that from now on). But, during my holidays in France, I did and noted the position with the help of my apps. See for example the mail about the Virgo Moon on my Descendant and the desperate need to wash my hands:).
This post is about what happened during some more transits that I had in August: Jupiter inconjunct Saturn (ups and downs), Venus trine Sun (nice time!), Mercury-Jupiter opposition and trine (swift transport and communication), Mercury-Pluto conjunction (@$%&!), Jupiter inconjunct Quaoar (going out, but...).

JUPITER-QUAOAR AT THE START
When we left home, transit Jupiter was inconjunct Quaoar to illustrate the international perspective and things you forget, like passports and hand bags. Should Jupiter-Quaoar mean 'new perspective for a voyage related to a loss'? Next time I won't leave on such a day. And in particular not because it was also a Mercury-Neptune day (see the post). It kept us in Nancy for a few days longer. That wasn't so bad at all. Now we could see Place Stanislas (with a lot of golden gates). Stanislaw was a Polish king and the Duc of Lorraine in the 18th century and he is wanted this place. Not surprising that his Sun is 'calling' (without major aspects in orb 5 degree or in sign) and his Moon is in Leo. Glitter and glamour!

A NICE TRIP WITH QUESTION MARKS

We continued the trip on a day with transit Mercury opposition Jupiter. We changed the destination on the way because of the weather reports but it was a nice ride without problems. The weather got better and better. That is because we went South...

THE HAPPY HOLIDAY
Then, finally, with transit Jupiter trine Mercury (that is the day that I should have chosen for departure time. Mercury-Jupiter is good for traveling and communications**). Later, with transit Venus trine Sun (conjunct Pluto and sextile Neptune) we enjoyed the most beautiful view from a camping ever and nice weather for about 15 days. This is a photo taken from our place. Looks like trines, isn't it?

JUPITER-SATURN, UPS AND DOWNS
But all things come to an end.
When I was in France transit Saturn was exactly inconjunct my progressed Jupiter. That was the day that I bought souvenirs and suddenly felt homesick. Impossible, you'd think. France is beautiful, nice, charming and the weather is fine. Lavender, sunflowers, peach trees, tomatoe plants and medieval villages, sunshine, nice old men saying 'Bonjour, Madame'...

What more do you need? Well: home! You have to get back anyway and once you start thinking about it, just go. We do. If we can, we use to return one or two days earlier than we planned before, always. Silly but true. Si hemos de entrar en el desierto,  ya estoy en el desierto... (If we have to enter the desert, I am already in the desert). This is my desert and that is in front of my home. They are doing the street...
Planks to cover the sand in my street (not...)
BACK HOME WITH MERCURY-PLUTO AND JUPITER-SATURN
Anyway, what happened when we drove back home, just two days later? Trouble, trouble and trouble...3 times. Damage for the caravan, having to repair the car after a sudden stop at the busiest roundabout in town, and in between a hard fall on my knees*) because of the instable planks. Someone in front of me hit a plank and I was launched to the ground. This all was followed by a tetanus injection, Betadine, bruises and for the car a conflicting garage bill.

*)I fell with transit Mercury exactly conjunct my natal Pluto in the 6th house. Mercury-Pluto doesn't seem to help or ease any transport or communication.

**) With Jupiter-Mercury I wrote and translated a note for the other guests in two languages. Jupiter-Mercury also improved my French (J'espère!:)

Mercury inconjunct Jupiter (the thunder boy)

Imagine...Jupiter, at worst, can be very offended, annoyed, enraged and upset. Wodan (the German Jupiter) used to throw his hammer and start the lighting and thunder. That is what happens when Jupiter is discontented and wrathful. Mercury is for communications. An annoyed Jupiter using his voice and/or the pen to express that he is offended, angry and convinced of his own ideas. That is when Mercury-Jupiter is starting to use 'big words' (like 'God hates you').  Perhaps the 'big mouth' is another translation of Mercury-Jupiter at a certain level of communications?

Today, November 13, is the birthday of Mr. Phelps, the hate speacher. He shows up at funerals to express his joy over the death of soldiers and homosexuals. He is a Christian fundamentalist. I have written about the position in his chart and in the chart of his Scorpio daughter before (link below), trying to explain them. Today I remembered that post and the fact that Phelps has Mercury inconjunct Jupiter. In the earlier post I hadn't so much mentioned that Mercury and Jupiter are 'calling' in his chart, so that this difficult aspect combination is prominent in his chart and will resonate at any possible level, somehow, anyhow. That makes his Mercury-Jupiter conflict a perfect example of what happens when balance is lost when you think that you are righter than right, when you are convinced of your intellectual superiority and when you don't seem to mind about the effect of your moral pronouncements.

The confession of Joran van der Sloot

Joran van der Sloot confessed, says the police in Peru. His progressed chart shows a combination of Mercury-Saturn and Pholus. Does this reflect an official (Saturn) self damaging (Pholus) statement (Mercury)? This combination of Mercury-Saturn and Pholus was already there in the natal chart (without hour of birth) and is repeated now.

Following the earlier messages about the birth positions of Joran van der Sloot, and the post about Van der Sloot being a subject again, here is something about his Mercury. Joran van der Sloot is a good liar (he is a poker player). Afflicted Mercuries point at the ability to vary and twist communications and mental state the hard way. (And some professions aquire a tough or flexible mentality or interest). There is a post about Mercury and lying on this blog here…

MERCURY IN BIRTH CHART
In the natal chart of Joran van der Sloot we see an afflicted Mercury exactly square Jupiter and sesquisquare Saturn. There is also a biquintile with Uranus. He can limit (Saturn), change (Uranus) or expand (Jupiter) facts or subjects of conversation. Those are the kind of qualities that a poker player needs, besides a poker face or a cap to hide your expression.

MERCURY IN THE PROGRESSED CHART: aspects combinations repeated!
In the progressed chart of Joran van der Sloot we see that Mercury moved fast. The afflicted Mercury is now exactly sesquisquare Jupiter and exactly square Saturn.
This means that the original nature of his communications are now ‘ triggered’ by progressions and that his mind has strong ups and downs now.

PHOLUS AND MERCURY
In the natal and progressed chart of Joran van der Sloot, Mercury is in aspect with Pholus, the symbol of turning points and 'shooting your own feet'. In the natal chart Mercury is sextile Pholus, but in the progressed chart there is a 105 degree minor aspect. Progressed and natal Saturn are quindecile Pholus. The Mercury-Saturn-Pholus combination of the natal chart is again active in the progressed chart. We could read the combination as the official statement of a turning point or: ' shooting your own feet with lies'.

And now, confronted with the images of the hotel door on video, Joran van der Sloot confessed.

------------------------------------------
PS His progressed Sun is trine Neptune now. See the Sun-Neptune-posts...
' Am I who I think that I am or am I who others say that I am,'
How about the effect of the 'harmonious' trine? Sometimes trines just make it easy to get isolated and lost with Neptune. It seems that he tried to sell information about the whereabouts of the death body of Natalee Holloway and that the FBI knew it. He was living in a false world of poker games, drugs and illusions.

Click 'sextile' to see more examples of the effect of harmonious aspects.
