Interpreting houses and rulers in transits

On July 20, 2013 I wrote about making difficult decisions with transit Pluto conjunct Mercury. How can houses and rulers contribute to 'predicting' what could happen and what the result would be? Here is an attempt to unlock the doors of the houses and their rulers by means of the method that Bernadette Brady gives in 'Predictive Astrology'. I am fond of structures and methods as a guide line and I like to test them:).

THE BRADY METHOD
In 'Predictive Astrology' Bernadette Brady describes a method of how to read transits, using rulerships and houses. The natal house is translated as 'source', the transit house describes the situation and the effect/result of it all will be found in rulerships (the houses ruled by the planets involved in the transit).  If you have no planets in a natal house, that house will never be a source or cause for an event in life, with this method. How to deal with that, I wonder? But let me give some examples of the method. Two of the transits already happened. The third one will happen soon and will be a test case of how to use this method.

I
TRANSIT PLUTO CONJUNCT MERCURY
Pluto rules Scorpio (8th house for me) and is in the 6th natal.
Mercury rulers Gemini AND Virgo (3, 4 AND 7 for me) and is in the 11th natal.
  • source, cause  in 6th house and in the 11th house (where Pluto and Mercury are in natal chart)
  • situation in 11th house (where transit Pluto is right now)
  • result in the 8th and 3,4,7th house (ruler 8 and ruler 3,4,7)
How to interpret that? Give it a try before you read any further...

a. Some difficult decision (my interpretation of Mercury-Pluto) and mental stress related to work/daily pattern/health (6)
b. causes a transformation in my network (11th house)
c. and the result of all that is that nothing will be the same after this (8th and 4th = end) and I learned something or got to know someone or there is intens communication with other people (3/7).

Does including the houses and their rulers give much more information? I wonder... I could have mistaken the 6th for illness and the 8th for death (of myself or of one of my co-workers, relations, sisters/brother, partner or friends. The main issue IS mental stress, work/health related and it seems that Pluto in 6 in the natal house describes more of this transit in the 11th than Mercury does.

II
T MARS AND PLUTO OPP URANUS
When I had transit Mars and transit Pluto in 11 opposition natal Uranus in 5, I knew that I needed dental surgery because of repeating pain. Something had to be done (Mars-Pluto) asap (Uranus), but there was a question mark (opposition).
Let's repeat the procedure:

a. Source (the natal house position): Immediate action with a question mark (opposition) related to things you can't help (12), health (6) and pleasures (5). You see, the dental surgery was scheduled on my birthday! Opposition: the dentist fell and hurt his teeth badly, so that he couldn't help me on the given date.

b. How was the community involved? I had scheduled days off for this surgery and after all this wasn't necessary. We also could have that birthday dinner:)

c. result: rulers 8 and co-rulers 1 and 12 were involved in this opposition. The question (opposition) was if there was a final (8) solution (12) for my fysical condition (1).
(The answer was yes, eventually...:)

Sounds OK, but I still have my doubts on the 11th house. It is the 6th of 6 (health service?).

III
T VENUS CONJUNCT NEPTUNE RULER 1
On September 1, transit Venus will hit my Neptune (and the Neptune of many of my generation). My Neptune rules the Ascendant and is in the 7th. Venus is ruler 2 and co-ruler 7 (or equal house ruler 8) and in the natal 10th house.

Let us try to predict this:
a. Source (natal house positions) 10 and 7: a public financial or romantic desillusion caused by a partner or any other 'someone else', feeling confused
b. This causes some kind of situation in my relationship
c. Result: my income or what I have will be the victim

There are two complications regarding this transit:

1. I know that it is not a big event
Of course, as Venus moves fast, this transit happened before! I happens every year. I had this on November 13, 2012 and on September 30, 2011 and on August 27, 2010. In fact, this happens every year and I can't remember a good or bad thing about it. But now that I pay attention on T Venus conjunct Neptune, let us see if there is a financial disappointment. It seems that I may be able to get over it and: I promise that I won't check my bank account that day:)! Check the comments after September 1 to see what happened! I will wait a few more days, because it just might be that I am happy about an illusion on September 1 and I the disappointment comes later...

2. The day after Venus will be sextile Sun and Midheaven and trine Pluto.

Do your transits follow the rules and the rulers of the houses? I love to see an example!

The Fukushima disaster chart and progressions

When I studied the progressed chart of the Fukushima disaster, I noticed how speedy Mercury was in those days. See the chart, and you know what I mean. There was an applying Mercury-Pluto square (nearly 5d orb) that perfected almost 2,5 days = 2,5 years after March 11, 2013. That is now, now that they communicated (Mercury) about a problem (Pluto) and danger (Pluto), that was 'born' on March 11, 2011.

I will have a special eye for applying aspects from now on to see if they have more impact later, than separating aspects have.

Here is the chart with transits and progressions.

The Astro ID of the chart is:
- Sun in Pisces in 8th house is 'calling' (separating quintile with Pluto)
- Mars in Pisces in 8th house is 'calling' and rising before the Sun
- Neptune ruler 8 + ruler Sun and Mars is 'calling'
Sun/Neptune=Mars (Mars between Sun and Neptune)
The important Sun, Mars and Neptune sort of scream about a day when the god of the seas was at war, a day for a disaster. But the chart doesn't scream 'disaster'.

I posted about the mediocre charts of main disasters before (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/02/mediocre-chart-positions-of.html ) and commented lated that there was a Pholus/Quaoar/Varuna midpoint combination in the charts of the Laki*) and Krakatau disaster. There is no such combination in the Fukushima chart, but there is a different and more complicated 'link'. There are minor and major aspects between Pholus, Quaoar and Varanu, created by Sun, Saturn and Pluto:
- In the Fukushima chart there is an inconjunct aspect of Quaoar (22d52 Sagittarius) and Varuna (21d10 Cancer), while Pholus is at 17d54 Sagittarius.
- Saturn is biquintile Quaoar and 157.5 d MC.
- Midpoint Quaoar/Varuna is square Pluto and Pluto is quintile Sun.
- The Sun is square Pholus/Quaoar and trine Varuna.
(Nessus and Sedna are also involved in this picture.)

MORE ASPECTS
An event chart requires narrow orbs, especially the orbs with MC and Ascendant. This is the chart of a special moment in time and place that had it's consequences. The minor aspects and the 'unusual' guys seem to make a difference in this chart.

The Moon is in the very first minutes of Gemini. There is an applying sesquisquare with Saturn, and that is a nasty aspect to look forward to, perfecting within a few hours on that day and within a few months in the progressed chart.
There is also a trine with Pallas, even closer.

Saturn is biquintile Quaoar. This mirrors the creation of a finale. Saturn is 157.5 d MC and that is a sesquisquare + half semi square.

The strongest aspect is that of Quaoar sesquisquare Midheaven.

In total the MC gives the tightest and strongest message.
Midheaven is trine Pluto, sesquisquare Quaoar and Juno, quintile Varuna, 75d Nessus, quintile Ceres, novile Lillith, half semi square Moon and there is the mentioned 157.5 d aspect with Saturn. The IC is quindecile Eris.

If you'd only consider the major aspect of MC trine Pluto you'd only notice an intense, challenging and dangerous moment THERE, causing stress and pressure. Such a moment happens every day, everywhere.  Here is was a moment for an earth quake, relieving stress and pressure. It takes more information to qualify the event. That shows that one single aspect doesn't tell the story...

BIRTHS IN DISASTER TIME
The aspects of charts are valid for more hours and minutes, some even for a major part of the day. Charts should be read in their context. When you were born with the above chart, you are probably someone who knows how to be in the center of attention, who can be very productive and/or very lazy (depending on what you do) and who knows how to deal with challenges and danger (simply by choosing an easy way out). It doesn't mean that you are 'a disaster':).

*) The Laki disaster 1783 chart also has Mars rising before the Sun.

The difficult decision - Transit Pluto conjunct Mercury

Pluto is the symbol of intensity, challenges, problems and value. Mercury is about thinking, deciding, communications and transport. I like to tell you about a personal experience related to Pluto conjunct Mercury. On this blog I mentioned what happened with transit Pluto square my Mercury:

Quote:
" Transit Pluto with Mercury transforms opinions and ideas. You might test your ideas about (for example) your political party during this period. The result might be that you decide to leave the party. The result might also be that the evalution of ideas intensifies your opinions (and the way that you communicate about them). You might also be studying hard in this period. I had this transit when I seriously studied astrology for the first time. "

On July 16, when I had transit Pluto exactly conjunct Mercury (along with many other transits) and I had two important appointments:
- one with my doctor (one that I could not reschedule) and
- one with my manager (on a moment of my choice).
I sort of manipulated the stars because of all these EXACT  transits and progressions. I decided to make a difficult decision on the day that I had the results of a yearly medical test with difficult transits. It was a go or no go moment. A good test result would lead to an important step. Guess what kind of difficult decision I made with this list. The answer is in mirror writing below.

1. Transit Pluto (ruler 8 in 6, transit in 11)) exactly conjunct natal Mercury (in 11th house, ruler 4 and 7)
(See the post on transits of Pluto: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/02/transits-of-pluto-with-moon-mercury.html : intensified mental activity )

2. Transit Saturn (in 8th house, natal ruler 11/12 in 7) square progressed Mercury
(More on Mercury-Saturn here: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/12/thinking-about-mercury-and-saturn.html : this transit is about drawing conclusions and saying goodbye)

3. Transit Orcus on my natal Descendant
(See http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/04/transit-orcus-contracts-and-oaths.html )
Contracts involved?

4. Transit Pallas (transit in 4, natal in 10) opposition natal Venus (in 10)
Patterns involved?

5. Progressed Mercury is semi square natal Sun and a bit wider semi square Midheaven
Mercury in natal 11 (ruler 4 and 7), Sun in 10, ruler 6. Progressed Mercury is progressed ruler 1.

6. Transit Saturn exactly semi square natal Sun and a bit wider semi square Midheaven
(More on transits of Saturn with Sun here: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/02/transits-of-saturn.html )
Saturn transit in 8, natal in 7 ruler 11/12. Sun in natal 10, ruler 6

7. Transit Jupiter quindecile natal Midheaven soon after quindecile Sun
http://www.astromarkt.net/minor-aspects.html
The quindecile refers to a strong focus or obsession. Jupiter is supposed to improve or make things better.
Jupiter is natal ruler 10 and 9 (and the co ruler of natal first house) and in the natal 12th. The transit Jupiter is in the 4th house.

8. Transit Jupiter inconjunct progressed Mercury
The inconjunct or quincunx mirrors 'something lost or given up'.

9. Transit Venus sextile progressed Ascendant
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/02/transits-of-venus.html
The sextile with the Ascendant is the trine with the Descendant, and all in all: a harmonious aspect with the horizon.

BESIDES, in 2013:
  • Uranus and Pluto in hard aspect with Sun/Moon midpoint (revolutionary change of motivation)
  • Pluto square MC in the solar return chart (change, transformation)
  • Neptune crossed my Ascendant and is 75d Sun and MC now (confusion)
  • Pholus is almost on my Sun and Midheaven again like last Xmas (shooting own foot? turning point in life and condition or career)
So, my decision was not just because of Pluto-Mercury...The number of transits and progressions indicate that something important happened. But maybe you experienced that transit Pluto conjunct Mercury always signals some kind of go or no go moment?

What happened when transit Pluto was conjunct, square, trine or opposition your Mercury?

Crime and fantasy in Thomas Quick's chart

There is a reason for the symbol of confusion above this post. This is about the confusing mix of fantasy and crime in the chart of Thomas Quick (born as: Sture Ragnar Bergwall). Thomas Quick was born in Sweden on April 26, 1950. He lives in a psychiatric institution since 1990, after a bank robbery. He confessed a number of murders, but some of the victims turned up alive and well, others were never found. What he did or didn't do is unknown. His hour of birth is unknown, too.  It is certain that he committed a crime, but uncertain what and when or why.
Here are 10 observations about his chart. There are 9 keys to his convincing lies in the natal chart and when he was convicted in 1990, you see the planet of fantasy in an interesting aspect.

This is the chart with transits and progressions of the day when they convicted him for being criminally insane. He was taken to a hospital and that is when he started to 'confess' more crimes and murders.

Here are 10 astrological reasons for the story of the life of Thomas Quick.

1. The aspects of 'harmony'
There are no squares, but there are a lot of trines and sextiles in his chart.
I've written about trines and sextiles before and I said that in certain circumstances they opt for the easy way out. Sometimes that is robbery instead of working. Sometimes that is a life behind bars instead of labour.  This man has Moon in Leo, a need to play a starring role and be in the center of attention. How? In an institution? (...)
Please read the article about the murderer and his victim, both with charts loaded with sextiles and trines: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/07/effect-of-sextile-example-youssouf.html

2. Neptune is the symbol of confusion and fantasy. Neptune is quatronovile Sun (rejoicing the 'double life' or creating illusions).
See the article on Astromarkt about Sun-Neptune and you will realize that this aspect often makes it hard to know who you really are…
http://astromarkt.net/sun-neptune.html
Quote: I knew someone with Sun conjunct the oriental Neptune who used to say: "Am I who I think that I am, or am I who other's think what I am?” She had an oriental Neptune conjunct the Sun.
3. Mercury-Neptune is a 'suspicious' aspect for the mix of facts and fantasy and the confusing communication (see the links). Thomas Quick has Mercury/Neptune square Sun. 'Rich imagination' and 'impressionable' said Reinhold Ebertin in COSI…

4. Saturn is 'calling'! I mean: Saturn doesn't make a major aspect within 5 degrees orb or in sign. That makes Saturn an important planet and the theme of Saturn of importance in a life. When Saturn calls, duty calls. But when Saturn calls in the chart of a sick man, he might consider himself guilty, be blamed and … take responsibility, even when he is NOT guilty of a crime. It is because of conscience (crime and punishment).

5.  Node without aspects. I think that this contributes to the importance of those around him (family, community) up to any possible level. There is a minor aspect (Mars quindecile Node) that points at a focus or obsession that links aggression or labor to groups of people. Or an obsession with series of murder?

6. Mercury is binovile Pluto (rejoicing the power of the word)
They believed what he said because he knew how to be impressive.

7. Jupiter trine Uranus
Jupiter-Uranus is the combination of the sudden windfall and the combination of the helicopter view. We find this combination in the charts of popes, astronauts and astrologers. It is a lucky combination that is present in charts of lottery winners and in the charts of those who live long. In a good chart it is a good
sign. In the chart of someone who is mentally not 'normal', it just means that he is more inventive than other criminals or patients are.

8. Sun inconjunct Quaoar
Quaoar is the symbol of creating new worlds and realities. Thomas Quick created too many new realities.

9. Jupiter in Pisces rising before the Sun
Jupiter is convincing. Jupiter in Pisces sesquisquare Neptune has a lot of fantasy and belief. Jupiter-Neptune is the combination of the believing and devoted audience. This man was believed.

10. When he was convicted on June 1, 1991 there were two influences of Neptune. The progressed Sun was trine Neptune. I've seen the Sun-Neptune combination in the charts of convicts before. They are being isolated from society and the trine makes it easy…
The progressed Sun was also sextile Pluto. The Neptune-Pluto combination is the combination of the silent force and of mystery. That is when therapy started and he was starting to dream?
Transit Saturn square Sun is about the end of a period in life and about facing responsibilities and restrictions. That is in line with jail…
Transit Neptune was inconjunct progressed Sun: this is a sign of getting out of balance or of fantasy (Neptune) getting out of balance.

PS

! When reading the positions of the day of birth of Thomas Quick we need to consider that this man is a psychiatric patient, probably a pathological liar. This is not the chart of the day of birth of a normal person. That is why the effect of the indications for lying and living like a criminal are stronger than for others born on that day! (I haven't found a famous 'birth' on April 26, 1950, so I have no example of how others - born that day - dealt with the fantasy in their chart).

Transits on the road

Usually I don't make notes or keep a diary (and I really plan - again- to do that from now on). But, during my holidays in France, I did and noted the position with the help of my apps. See for example the mail about the Virgo Moon on my Descendant and the desperate need to wash my hands:).
This post is about what happened during some more transits that I had in August: Jupiter inconjunct Saturn (ups and downs), Venus trine Sun (nice time!), Mercury-Jupiter opposition and trine (swift transport and communication), Mercury-Pluto conjunction (@$%&!), Jupiter inconjunct Quaoar (going out, but...).

JUPITER-QUAOAR AT THE START
When we left home, transit Jupiter was inconjunct Quaoar to illustrate the international perspective and things you forget, like passports and hand bags. Should Jupiter-Quaoar mean 'new perspective for a voyage related to a loss'? Next time I won't leave on such a day. And in particular not because it was also a Mercury-Neptune day (see the post). It kept us in Nancy for a few days longer. That wasn't so bad at all. Now we could see Place Stanislas (with a lot of golden gates). Stanislaw was a Polish king and the Duc of Lorraine in the 18th century and he is wanted this place. Not surprising that his Sun is 'calling' (without major aspects in orb 5 degree or in sign) and his Moon is in Leo. Glitter and glamour!

A NICE TRIP WITH QUESTION MARKS

We continued the trip on a day with transit Mercury opposition Jupiter. We changed the destination on the way because of the weather reports but it was a nice ride without problems. The weather got better and better. That is because we went South...

THE HAPPY HOLIDAY
Then, finally, with transit Jupiter trine Mercury (that is the day that I should have chosen for departure time. Mercury-Jupiter is good for traveling and communications**). Later, with transit Venus trine Sun (conjunct Pluto and sextile Neptune) we enjoyed the most beautiful view from a camping ever and nice weather for about 15 days. This is a photo taken from our place. Looks like trines, isn't it?

JUPITER-SATURN, UPS AND DOWNS
But all things come to an end.
When I was in France transit Saturn was exactly inconjunct my progressed Jupiter. That was the day that I bought souvenirs and suddenly felt homesick. Impossible, you'd think. France is beautiful, nice, charming and the weather is fine. Lavender, sunflowers, peach trees, tomatoe plants and medieval villages, sunshine, nice old men saying 'Bonjour, Madame'...

What more do you need? Well: home! You have to get back anyway and once you start thinking about it, just go. We do. If we can, we use to return one or two days earlier than we planned before, always. Silly but true. Si hemos de entrar en el desierto,  ya estoy en el desierto... (If we have to enter the desert, I am already in the desert). This is my desert and that is in front of my home. They are doing the street...
Planks to cover the sand in my street (not...)
BACK HOME WITH MERCURY-PLUTO AND JUPITER-SATURN
Anyway, what happened when we drove back home, just two days later? Trouble, trouble and trouble...3 times. Damage for the caravan, having to repair the car after a sudden stop at the busiest roundabout in town, and in between a hard fall on my knees*) because of the instable planks. Someone in front of me hit a plank and I was launched to the ground. This all was followed by a tetanus injection, Betadine, bruises and for the car a conflicting garage bill.

*)I fell with transit Mercury exactly conjunct my natal Pluto in the 6th house. Mercury-Pluto doesn't seem to help or ease any transport or communication.

**) With Jupiter-Mercury I wrote and translated a note for the other guests in two languages. Jupiter-Mercury also improved my French (J'espère!:)

TRANSITS OF PLUTO WITH MOON, MERCURY, VENUS OR MARS

This month is transit month on Astropost. This post is about transits of Pluto with Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars. They tend to stress feelings, ideas, sympathies and drives. Transits of Pluto must always be regarded with the natal chart, the other transits and progressions and the general situation or condition in mind. Having said that, here are some ideas.
Transit Pluto with the Moon intensifies emotions and habits/needs. Getting back to usual (at home) is difficult and challenging with such an aspect, even if it is a trine (though you might feel stronger than ever).  It often gives stress at home or in the family. Sometimes this is because of a family problem or a memorable event regarding life and death. Michael Moore had this transit after his chemo therapy (and with his son in jail).
Transit Pluto with Mercury transforms opinions and ideas. You might test your ideas about (for example) your political party during this period. The result might be that you decide to leave the party. The result might also be that the evalution of ideas intensifies your opinions (and the way that you communicate about them). You might also be studying hard in this period. I had this transit when I seriously studied astrology for the first time.
Transits of Pluto with Venus are reflecting the difficult choice to make and sometimes money issues. What is really worth the price to pay? Did I really choose the right partner? Even if you think that you made all the right choices, transit Pluto with Venus gives stress because of the intensity of your desires and feelings. Sometimes it is your body (skin, hormones) and sometimes it is your relationship challenging you to evaluate your choices and ideas of what is nice, beautiful or luxury. This transit doesn’t stand in the way to marriage. Often the relationship is getting deeper and deeper during the (longlasting) transit). But sometimes there is competition or jealousy. To have and to hold might be a problem in many ways! However, sometimes this transit doesn’t seem to have much impact at all. The price you pay for luxury might just be the jealousy of others!
Transit Pluto with Venus AND Mars in the chart of the Swedish king a few months ago…showed challenges regarding passions…among other hard transits, like the transit of Saturn...
Transit Pluto  with Mars is testing your drives and muscles, sometimes just in competion (sport or politics), but there is also a danger of violence and having to defend yourself (or feeling that you have to defend yourself). Women might test their husbands during this aspect (is this man worth it?). This transit transforms activities or products and is very demanding. You pay the price with energy. In specific (dangerous) situation this transit warns you to be alert and avoid ‘dangerous men’ and anger. Like in the case of Joran van der Sloot:
  • The murder of Stephanie Flores was with transit Pluto trine progressed and quindecile natal Mars.
  • The disappearance of Nathalie Holloway was with transit Mars sesquisquare Pluto.
Also visit: Astromarkt.net perhaps about Venus-Pluto or Mars-Pluto or: about Saturn-Pluto....or see this blog about Moon inconjunct Pluto (Homolka)

PS The Moon is larger than dwarf planet Pluto. Size doesn't really matter in astrology. Jupiter is large and that is why the meaning of Jupiter is ' big' and 'great' and 'growth'. Jupiter is not considered to have more 'resonation' than Saturn has. The Moon is the closest object. That is why the Moon is regarded to show us more about 'close' things, like home, family, eating habits and emotions.

Transits and an arrest or conviction

A ' transit' is a planet or asteroid or the Sun, Moon, Ascendant or Midheaven passing bye. When a transitting object is making a (tight) aspect with a natal or progressed position, something might happen (and it might be in line with the nature of the aspect combination). I say ' might' because it takes at least 3 transits or progressions for a big event and some of the transits just move on without being noticed. A recent example is the chart of the day of birth of the Indonesian pop artist Nazril Ariel Izram. He was convicted for pornography and has to spend the next 2 or 3 years in prison. That is the sort of event that needs more transits (and progressions!) at the same time:

PROGRESSIONS
Progressed Sun inconjunct Chiron
Progressed Orcus square progressed Venus
Saturn semi square Uranus in the progressed chart (Saturn-Uranus is the theme of restricted freedom)
Sun sextile Neptune in the progressed chart (Neptune is for isolation and idols)

TRANSITS
Transit Quaoar conjunct progressed Neptune
Transit Neptune inconjunct progressed Node (negative influence of a community)
Transit Quaoar square Sun (forced upon new perspectives)
Transit Pluto square Mercury (mental stress)
Transit Mars 75 Uranus  (sudden anger)

Even if we stick to the planets and lights, we count more than 3 transits/progressions (5, to be exact). Something unexpected, stressful and negative happens when the life style tends to isolation and there is a risk of limited freeedom. It is clearly not a positive period. The progressions are indicating drawing back and the transits are indicating stress and tension NOW.

LINKS
When Roman Polanski was arrested, there were also Mars-Uranus and Sun-Neptune combinations.  See the post about that moment ('Chart, transits and progressions of Roman Polanski), but it is not always so (like with Father Titus who was of course not arrested for a criminal act, but following acts of resistance in war time). Paris Hilton had transit Neptune-Sun when she was arrested. The 'confession' of Patrick Dils was with a Neptune-Sun combination, too.

In the article about Mars-Uranus on Asromarkt there are more examples of arrested persons.
