When the Force is against you...

This is about Mars square Pluto in a Solar Return. That is when the Force (any force) is against you. Let me tell you about my personal experience.

CafeAstrology mentioned it, but too late for me:): Mars square Pluto so don't try to get the upper hand. I tried and failed.

You see, I have a Frenchie, and she is very sweet except when you try to take her somewhere without her consent. She just stops and pulls back if you pull. I'd better have stopped, too. I do, now. But it is a bit too late now, and the pain is getting harder. It seems that this little doggy might be the cause of a muscle problem that keeps me on the second floor this weekend as I remember a slight flash of pain following some pulling. Now I dare not use the stairs and it takes a quarter of an hour to get down or up. Intense pain (even with heavy pain stillers) and restricted movements prohibit that I go out , buy presents and do what I like. Mars was square Pluto in my December 12 solar return, separating. In my progressed chart Mars had already been semi square natal Moon and inconjunct Pluto when I felt pain and thought that it was over, later. Around November 16, transit Mars was conjunct Saturn and it started, again. It was AFTER my birthday that the pain got so bad.

I don't want to scare you off. What I mean is: you need not die or get injured in a way that you almost die with Mars square Pluto in the solar return. It just hurts badly. Pluto is STRONG(ER). My Frenchie accompanies me and looks worried when I say Ouch!@%! Ain't she sweet? I almost hope that it is not her fault and something else...

Color horoscope for Bill Cosby and Prince Philip

I like the color horoscope (free try out version of Astro.com) and I want to tell you about it. I added the picture of a kaleidoscope. Just like with computer horoscopes, you may wonder what the REAL picture is. Computer horoscopes are (sometimes free) compositions of signs, positions and aspects in a row. They seem to fit, but often fail when you do it for another person and another one. With so many possible notions the computer horoscope is often a 'one size fits all' and one size doesn't really fit, always. The color horoscope of Astro.com is one that I like. At least: I like the short free version (I haven't tried the complete one). It is because of the 'Roles you play' and 'Background' part. I'll show you why and I'll also show you why it doesn't fit all. Computer horoscopes sometimes help you to 'see the picture' and sometimes they just give a bunch of contradicting texts. This part, if you are ready to include the context (social circumstances, gender, genes, the whole picture), helps to see a character.

Today is Bill Cosby's birthday. Transit Uranus is square his Sun now that he is in the news in a negative way and Transit Uranus will be back in 2016. In his solar return chart, Sun square Uranus tells us about a hectic and nervous year. Here is the natal chart with transits and progressions for July 8.

I used 11:54 a.m. (Progressed Venus conjunct MC at marriage in 1964). That gives Ixion a special place. Ixion is also on the midpoint Venus/Pluto. Soon after 1964 the abuse began and progressed Sun was semi square Ixion. Right now, progressed Sun is almost exactly conjunct Saturn (a time to face the facts). I had to use A time because you can't try out the color horoscope without hour of birth. I didn't use the times mentioned on Astro. com, because they come from 1 source and don't give any appropriate data for 1964. So this is a guess chart. The color horoscope mention for 'Roles you play' and 'Background':

• Desirous
• Looking for support
• Searching for pleasure
• Interested
• Lack of self-confidence

2x desire/pleasure, 2x seeking contact, 1x lack of self confidence. It sounds like a person who is eager for pleasure and good in communications, but who doesn't believe in the results and perhaps that is why he used drugs to 'conquer' the women he abused. But (#kaleidoscope) you can also get the picture of a very nice social person, like the father in the TV series.

They say that you can have it your way with any computer horoscope, but this one at least doesn't 'sound' like the chart of a violent or super cool and controlled person. I did my chart and those of others and yes: you see (part of a) character, but what you do with that character ... nobody knows. It depends on the rest of the chart and ... on the background. Bill Cosby couldn't do what he did if he wasn't famous, powerful and popular. We wouldn't even look at his chart:). 

Now how about the chart of Prins Philip. If he wasn't the husband of the Queen of England,we wouldn't mind what he says or does, but we do. 

PRINS PHILIP AND COLORHOROSCOPE

Prins Philip, we know, is rather rude. There is a whole list of unwanted and political incorrect public communication on the net. He always knows how to hurt someone. But when you use the color horoscope, you get 'sensitive' twice! That is because the computer horoscope didn't include the fact that both Mercury and Mars are Out of Bounds and that Mercury is angular. That is how the computer missed the sharp (Mars) tongue (Mercury)! The color horoscope also mentions 'Center of attention' and 'Manipulation' ...Anyway, try yours and see!

Why try it? Well, I like that color horoscope. It is fun. I realize that the try out version is not the complete version and that computer horoscopes (as 'they' are afraid of skipping something important) mention too much always and forget about the 'main picture). Still, there is something about it...And no, they don't pay me to tell you this.

Venus Return charts: predictive?

Last night, while I was sleeping, transit Venus was conjunct the position of my natal Venus. It is like Venus looking in the mirror. What do you think about the importance of the Venus return chart?

WHY THIS POST?
On that specific moment of Venus return, Uranus and Pluto were on the angles. As Venus didn't make any major aspect at all, Venus was 'calling' in this chart. Should I spend time on delineating the Venus Return chart, I wondered. Time to see, if Venus Return charts are important and predictive, so: I checked the Venus Returns of my past. I have some past, so I can look back at many Venus Returns.

I started with the Venus return valid for the year that I met my husband. Then I did the Venus Return chart valid for the year of my marriage. And I compared those to the Venus Return of today.

1. First: the Venus return chart valid for the year that I met my husband, a long long time ago:).
- Uranus and Pluto were on either side of Midheaven.
- Venus was lost in space:).
- Venus was square Uranus and Pluto and
- Sun was inconjunct ruler 7 in the earlier Venus Return Chart.
We almost married in that year. Instead, we got engaged. We started rather dramatically, if I may say so.

2. Next: the Venus return in the year right before the year of my marriage. The return was more than 1 year ago, so maybe that is too long ago according to the rules. In that Venus Return chart:
- Venus was angular, conjunct IC, but not tightly,
- Venus was tightly square Pluto.
- The IC was conjunct natal MC (orb 2 degrees).

3. This year, 2013, there is an angular Uranus-Pluto square, but not in aspect with Venus.
Last Solar Return also had an angular Uranus-Pluto. My next SR has Venus and Mars angular, with Venus quintile Pluto. This seems to point at the importance of Venus.

TEST IT?
I should check all the Venus returns of my life to see if a Venus Return helps to find the important years for love and that is some job. I would if I thought that it would add something to what I already have, but I am a bit disappointed by the results so far.
If the Venus return was significantly indicating marriage, divorce, meeting your lover, than why isn't the Venus Return before my marriage more outspoken?

THEORY
They say that if Venus is conjunct Sun or on an angle, it will be an important year for love or marriage. That seems to have been correct for me, but it can't be correct for this year. 'They' don't say anything about Uranus and Pluto on angles. I consider that as a statement of intense tension or radical change.

You need to see the Venus return related to the natal chart, they say. Well, that is about the same thing as checking the transits during a Venus return. In that case, the Uranus-Pluto angularity in my Venus return today, is even more important, as Mercury (my natal ruler 7) is conjunct transit Pluto and square Uranus. If my Venus Return is right, there will be an important 'event' in 2013/2014. If that is correct, I'll remind you of this post. And if it's not, I'll do the same!

PRACTICE
I am curious about other person's experiences or studies, especially when it is with Uranus and Pluto on the angles of a return chart. That is personal interest, because Uranus and Pluto were on the angles of my solar return chart and in the next one, Venus is on the Descendant. I am also interested in your experiences with Venus Return charts in general. Are they indeed meaningful? Does an angular Venus in the Venus or Solar Return chart point at a crucial year for love?

Update: solar return with Uranus and Pluto angular

On December 10, two days before my birthday in 2012, I published about my solar return for 2013 with Uranus square Midheaven (on Ascendant) and Pluto (near Midheaven) square Ascendant. This is a first update. I also added the experiences of persons with Uranus and Pluto or midpoint Uranus/Pluto hitting their natal Sun.

Now, what happened so far?

This: my position in society is about to change completely and two women that I know closely had health issues following change in social status reflected by Uranus and Pluto.

THE SOLAR RETURN
For those who didn't read the post about the angular Uranus and Pluto in the solar return, here is my solar return for 2013,  with Uranus (close to the Ascendant) square MC and Pluto (near MC) square Ascendant. 
There is an interesting mix of midpoints that I may not have mentioned before:

1. Ascendant/Midheaven (AC/MC) is 141.6 degrees (22nd of Leo)
2. Uranus/Pluto midpoint is 321.6 (22nd of Aquarius)
Thus, AC/MC is exactly opposition Uranus/Pluto (AC/MC=Uranus/Pluto). 
That is a confirmation of the aspect pattern.

You know that AC/MC is the most individual and personal midpoint of them all. It is the crosspoint of meridian and horizon. It is where heaven and earth, time and place meet, right where you were born. Aspects with this midpoint (see link) tell us about what is of cardinal importance. Reinhold Ebertin says (in COSI) that transits and progressions with the AC/MC midpoint signify important periods in life, defined by other factors. 

- AND TRANSITS URANUS AND PLUTO WITH SUN/MOON
The solar return is not alone when it comes to Uranus and Pluto. Transit Uranus and transit Pluto hit my Sun/Moon midpoint in Capricorn in 2013/2014.

THE UPDATE 
1.
I am more than half way now and something substantial changed: I quit my job. That is a revolution in my life:).
I decided to retire, exactly on the day that Transit Pluto was conjunct Mercury (see post). It was one of the many transits and progression mid July (click the link to see the other ones).

2.
Nobody died so far, but 2 women in my family, had a sudden health issue following important changes in their situation (divorce, retirement).*)
One had transit Uranus/Pluto exactly opposite Sun at the time of a TIA.

The other one had a number of transits of Pluto when she had a stent in a year of turbulance in the family and a difficult divorce. This all was mirrored by transit Uranus and transit Pluto repeatedly aspecting her Sun and Moon and Sun/Moon.

Up to now, I seem to be lucky compared to them.
(They don't have Uranus/Pluto with Ascendant/MC, by the way).

Turbulence seems to be the right word for the combination of Uranus and Pluto, when they transit Sun, MC, Ascendant, and/or Ascendant/MC or Sun/Moon midpoint. Maybe you can't help it when your world turns upside down. Maybe you impulsively did it yourself. But the result is revolutionary always. And when I see this picture mocking the French Revolution, I know that revolution involves destruction. Well, I happen to be destroying all that is useless, broken, dirty, old fashioned and over complete, following the 'instructions' in 'Coach yourself to success' by Talane Miedaner. I bought the book on a sales market (3 for 1) and I am glad that I did, cause it feels good:). Making room for something new requires turbulence. Preferably not like this:

*) PS Sometimes change starts before you realize that your life will never be the same again. This is  my tweet on August 31, 2012:

Solar return with Uranus-Pluto angular

Imagine! My solar return chart has Uranus (close to the Ascendant) square MC and Pluto (near MC) square Ascendant. The angularity of Uranus and Pluto is rather disturbing, IMO, because I found two precedents:

1. Pim Fortuyn was a controversial Dutch politian with non conformistic and non political correct ideas. He was shot and killed by an environmental activist. If he had lived, he would have won the elections, a few days later.
His solar return chart for 2002 had Uranus and Pluto on the angles, related to the 8th house.

2. Prince Charles had transit Uranus on Ascendant when he heard about the accidental death of his ex-wife. In his solar return for that year, Uranus and Pluto were angular, not related to the eight house. It happened in the year after the divorce.

Both solar return charts indicated controversy, very busy days, shocking change in life. But of course, the progressions and transits also mirrored change! The solar return was not a stand alone. Neither is mine....

Transit Pholus will be on my Sun and MC a few times. And transit Uranus and Transit Pluto will hit my midpoint Sun/Moon a few times next year. Also, the 8th house is involved.
Family members join this " plot". Transit Uranus and transit Pluto will hit their Sun or, like in my SR, they are angular, too. Looks like a very transforming family year!

It looks as if I can't escape change.
So I asked the I-Ching (sorry! Off topic, but I-Ching happens to be the Book of Changes) and the answer was number 49: Revolution! Looks like "they" mean it!

My solar return starts with an appointment with a sort of a dentist (very Pluto ennerving Uransu)
And unlike other years we won't celebrate my birthday in a restaurant due to circumstances.
It starts with intense tension, my new solar year. And maybe that is just all, because I had line 5 and so the I Ching added number 55: abundance!

Questions:

1. Any experiences with a solar return chart and angular Uranus-Pluto?
2. Is Uranus-Pluto important for you, in 2013? or was it, in 2012?
3. How to be prepared for unespected change and pressure?

The lady in the picture at least has nasty stuff to throw on her enemies down the wall.
Expecting the unespected seems to be the only solution.
I'll keep in touch and will transform the meaning of Uranus-Pluto in "astrological research" with myself as an object of study. Next year, same time, if I am still around, you will have the answers!

Chart of Benedict XVI: the day after

Yesterday the papacy of Benedict XVI ended by abdication. Here you see three charts of Benedict XVI: the natal chart with transits, solar return 2012 and: natal and progressed together. Transits and progressions clearly mirror the kind of change in the life of the now ex-pope. I'll show you how.

Natal and progressed positions Benedict 16t

1. In the progressed chart we see Pluto on the Ascendant, exactly. The Ascendant is the symbol of the situation (your view on the world outside) and … of the name. Pluto is the symbol of transformation, value, authority, stress, challenge, issues of life and death and change. There is hardly a better symbol than Pluto-Ascendant to describe what happened yesterday. Pluto also may refer to (too much) pressure. As Pluto is the ruler of the 8th house and positioned in the 4th this is a symbol of final issues (like this one) and a possible indication for the danger of death. I read that he recently had fysical problems.

2. Progressed Neptune is exactly trine natal Sun. That is a beautiful description of realizing a dream and the start of a period of seclusion. It is the kind of aspect that smoothly accompanies the start of a period of withdrawal (like when you step back).

3. Transit Pholus semi square the natal AC/MC marks a rather frustrating key turning point.

4. The solar return of his birthday in 2012 (valid until the next birthday in 2013) has Sun opposition Saturn. Afflicted Sun-Saturn moments are moments of discontinuation, ends and... goodbyes.

Two times symbols of change, one time symbol of an ending and the symbol of a smooth start of a more isolated way of life are about enough for a man of his age. But after I published this, I realized that there is even more, like:
- transit Uranus sesquisquare progressed Mars
- Jupiter novile progressed Sun (rejoycing positive change)
- Neptune transit quindecile progressed IC (weakness, basically)
- transit Uranus trine Saturn (breaking free)

I don't really know what to make of Progressed Mars trine Ceres. Ceres is an important figure in his chart and represents motherhood (or the holy mother figure). He said that he will continue to work for the (mother)church.

On Transit Mars inconjunct Progressed Mars you can see the energy drain of the final days of the papacy.

Abdication of Beatrix for new King Willem Alexander

Dutch Queen Beatrix said that she will abdicate in 2013, on April 30. She announced this within 24 hours after my column on Astromarkt (link: http://www.astromarkt.net/column-over-astrologie-en-horoscopen.html ) where I mentioned three signs of change in position:
- Moon opposition Midheaven in the solar return chart for this year
- Pholus square Moon and MC in the solar return chart
- Transit Saturn square progressed Sun (announcing the end of a period of time, or a goodbye)
Her birthday is tomorrow. Here is the solar return of 2013.

I also noticed that the solar return chart of the king to be (Willem Alexander) shows dramatic change while transit Saturn will be on his Ascendant on the day that he will be installed. In the Netherlands there is no coronation. The crown doesn't fit any head. There is no one good enough to place the crown on anyone's head. The crown will be on a table, symbol of kingdom but not used. Here is the solar return chart of Willem Alexander (birthday April 27).

Reasons to opt for 2013 were:

2013 might be a better choice, because transit Neptune is still on his midpoint Sun/Moon this year (though I noticed that Neptune was 'there' whenever there was a coronation). His mother will have a solar return with Sun square Saturn and Moon on IC in 2013. So I'd guess that 2013 might be 'the' year, but I wouldn't bet my money on it (maybe a chocolate bar:).

Happy solar returns

If there are dramatic solar returns, there must be some happy ones, too! I found the following examples of happy solar returns. They are valid for years of expecting a baby, getting married, winning election, a coronation and meeting Mr. Right. In these solar return charts symbols of motherhood and success are  on the angles or elevated.


1. Expecting a baby with Juno and Ceres
Juno (marriage) and Ceres (dynasty) are on the horizon (the line Ascendant-Desendant) of Prince William this year. This is to tell us about the importance of marriage and genes in 2012/2013.

2. Winning elections with Jupiter
In April of 2011 and again after the elections of 2012, I pointed at the SR of Obama in 2012: Jupiter on Midheaven! That is a sign of success. Here is more on that solar return chart:

3. Coronation

Dutch Queen Beatrix's coronation day was April 30, 1980. In that year her solar return chart had Ceres (dynasty!) elevated and Venus, ruler 4, on Midheaven. This signifies happiness, wishes coming true and the importance of genes above all!


4. Year of marriage or engagement with Venus:
- Prince William's SR for 2010 gives not much reason for the engagement and wedding  in the year to come, except for the position of the elevated Venus. But there were many other indications that you see here (like, for example, the important progressed Venus conjunct Sun): http://www.astromarkt.net/willam-and-kate-wedding-and-charts.html

- The Moon and Juno were on either side of the MC, and Venus close to the AC in the solar return chart for the year of the second marriage of Princess Margarita of the Netherlands.

And I have examples of the 'common people', too....
I know of someone with Venus ruler 7 on Midheaven in the SR chart who got married that year and another person with Jupiter ruler 7 opposition MC in the SR-year of meeting her later husband

The final solar return of Ted Bundy

Recently I wrote about the chart of serial killer Ted Bundy and I also wrote about solar returns. Solar returns are  the charts drawn for the exact moment of your birthday. Searching for 'dramatic' solar returns, I tried the birthday chart of Ted Bundy, valid for the year of his execution, to see if the solar return chart reflected what was to follow... It turned out to be a dramatic solar return, indeed!

Here it is:

The Yod, pointing at the 8th house Jupiter, opposition the Sun seems to illustrate that matters of life and death (8th house) would soon be 'trending topics'. The solar return chart of his birthday on November 24, 1988 has:

- 3 (!) inconjunctions with Jupiter in the 8th house of life and death.
The quincunx or inconjunct aspect is the aspect of 150 degrees. This aspect means: losing balance or loss, out of plumb.

- These 3 inconjunctions create a double Yod (Venus-Saturn, Venus-Uranus and apex Jupiter) pointing at the 8th house of death! Venus is the ruler of the 8th house, Saturn of the 4th. Uranus happens to be the symbol of electricity.

- There is also a tight opposition between Sun and Jupiter in the 8th house.

In his situation in death row there was a serious indication of issues of life and death in the year to come, signaled on his birthday. Three inconjunctions (loss) pointing at the 8th house of dramatic change could hardly mean anything else but 'definite transformation'=death, in this situation.


There were of course transits and progressions enough to confirm the message of the solar return...

The solar return moment; an experience

Yesterday I wrote about my revolutionary solar return. Uranus-Pluto on the angles of the chart, remember? That's a spicy recipe for 2013!

Well, today was the solat return day and guess what happpened? I was alarmed. My husband phoned that he was in hospital with bad sight and flashes. It turned put to be nothing serious (at least, for now) and that was shortly after the solar return moment (7 minutes past 13:35) . It is a period in my life with a number of family members recovering from surgery (3 close family members!). And I am still (not) looking forward to meeting an endotologist.

But, the moment of the solar return was a moment of tension. Minutes later, there was relief.
I just calculated that those 7 minutes are less than 2 days in effect. On Thursday morning I will know for sure.

A reader suggested that Uranus-Pluto COULD mean total freedom, at last. And that is something to think over. This moment on the day of the solar return seems to confirm it. No more worrying...

Sirius, election day and Obama's progressed chart

Looking back at my 2010 post about Obama and about the 2012 elections, I read what I wrote about fixed star Sirius again. I almost forgot that the fixed star Sirius is opposition the Progressed Midheaven of Barack Obama in this period of Presidency. During the first year of his office, transit Sirius passed the progressed meridian.

Sirius, if culminating, means 'high office'*) and being the President of the USA is perhaps the highest office in the world. Sirius is opposition MC, and that is the opposite of culminating. Barack Obama IS the President. Perhaps it is enough to hit the meridian...

ELECTIONS AND SIRIUS
Here is the progressed chart of November 6, 2012 when transit Sun is trine Sirius, a perfect day to see who will be the next one in 'high office'. In fact, transit Sun was trine Sirius every Presidential election day of the past century and trine everybody's Sirius. Barack Obama's progressed Midheaven also 'hits' that trine.

 Sirius is the 'dog star' (think of Sirius Black in Harry Potter: he sometimes appeared as a dog). When Barack Obama entered the White House, he was given ... a dog (called Bo, B-arack O-bama). Time will tell if transits and progressions go bye. It will be November 6 soon.

HISTORY AND SOLAR RETURN

Oprah, Obama and Neptune

End of April, President Barack Obama will be on Oprah's couch again. There are many speculations about the involvement or influence of Oprah on Obama running for the Presidency. Speculations and gossip are part of the Neptunic vocabulary. So it is interesting to see that Oprah's natal Sun and Venus are exactly square the Neptune of Barack Obama. And Barack Obama's progressed Sun is inconjunct transit Neptune...resonating his natal Sun-Neptune square. Neptune is the symbol of idols and of the media. Two idols come together when Obama meets Oprah on television. And of course, Neptune is with them:).

SUN NEPTUNE 

It seems that such an aspect points at being charmed and disappointment later. I wonder in what way Oprah is disappointed in her political hero (or if Neptune is still standing!:) 

I know that Obama has Sun square Neptune in his natal chart and that he is being confused with the myth that has been created in the media. Not long ago he had transit Neptune opposition natal Sun and inconjunct Progressed Sun: the combination of the 'fallen angel' and disappointments for himself. Could the media circus lift him back to the clouds again? It is with transit Neptune inconjunct the Progressed Sun of the President, again. (In Oprah's Progressed chart the Sun is square Moon.  The best interpretation of Sun inconjunct Neptune is that you get rid of some wrong ideas about you.

There is a lot of Sun-Neptune info on this blog and on Astromarkt (see links) that is clear (sic...) about one thing: when Neptune is in aspect with the Sun, it means confusion and unclarity. Part of the given examples were about double lives, others about mistaken identity or being an idol/fallen angel. For some reason it is easy for Sun-Neptune to live a fantasy or live in an unreal world. Movie stars are the sort of idols and heroes related to Sun-Neptune.  Some Presidents and PM's are idols and worshipped by millions and they have a Sun-Neptune aspect, too. German Mrs. Merkel has Sun square Neptune, just like Obama. And she is in charge since November 22, 2005. Mr. Obama was the first ' black' President in the USA. Angela Merkel was the first female Chancellor of Germany. That is why both are role models, like it or not. 

VENUS NEPTUNE

Even more difficult is the Venus-Neptune adoration aspect. It is a very romantic dream, even if it is not in a love relation. When Venus meets Neptune there is a lot of confusion about desires and wishes and the hero who is supposed to realize it all...Here is Obama's chart with the transits of the day of birth of Oprah.

OBAMA's SUN-NEPTUNE

In Obama's chart it doesn't stop raining transits of Neptune inconjunct the progressed Sun in 2012. Neptune is strong in the last and first degrees of a sign, too...However, there is also progressed Sun trine Jupiter, in just a few months time. And that might be just too soon for election time. Best for him is to celebrate his 2012 birthday in Washington DC. That is the best astrological place to be on August 4, 2012. You see, the Solar return chart for that location has Jupiter firmly on top of the chart! And that means Success!

Prince Charles birthday

Prince Charles will be 61 on the 14th of November. Now that I write this it is already November 14 in London, so: happy birthday to him!

Because of his birthday I take a brief look at his solar return chart. The solar return chart is the chart for the actual moment that the Sun is in the same degree, minute and second as on the day that a person was born. Every year on or around the birthday, the Sun returns to that place. The chart erected for that moment is a solar return chart. This chart shows the transits with the natal Sun on an annual birthday and the positions in the chart of the actual moment of the solar return. My experience is that if the Moon is in aspect with the Midheaven of the solar return chart, there might be an important change coming up...

Below you see Charles' solar return chart (his birthday chart). It is a rather fortunate solar return chart at first sight, with the Sun on the horizon and Jupiter on top. Jupiter rules the 8th house of life and death, however.
The Northern Node on Midheaven might mean that family matters more than ever...There is also a conjunction of the progressed Sun and transitting Node on his birthday, highlighting the group , company, family and nation.
Next year we will know what was the meaning of this solar return, but we might do some guessing. There is an aspect between Moon and Midheaven, so it is a year of changes.

It's that we know that his mother will not step back in favour of her son, but it looks like the solar return chart for a king to be*). It is the same combination as in the natal chart of his eldest son William, who has Sun conjunct Descendant and Jupiter conjunct Midheaven. In 2010 Prince William's progressed Midheaven (progression .98 degree/year) is changing sign and the first aspect will be an inconjunction with the ruler of the 8th house, the Sun. It might mean that he will be taken aback by a change in status. I doubt that he will become a father, so it might be another kind of family matter (houses 4/10 and 8).

It might be an important year coming for Charles, anyway, with opportunities to grow, travel and convince the public. I'll be back next year (I hope) to see how the events matched the solar return ....or not. Scorpio Charles will move on in 2010, somehow.

*) The progressed chart of his mother Queen Elisabeth has a Yod of the Ascendant inconjunct Saturn ruler 8 and Mars inconjunct Saturn, with Mars sextile Ascendant. The Yod is pointing at Saturn, and Saturn is conjunct Midheaven in her natal chart.
The combination of AC/Mars/Saturn often is reflecting a situation of restricted energy or a blockade (the end of energy, work, mourning, death etc.).She might be less energetic in 2010 than she usually is and will have to take good care of herself and her husband with whom she celebrated a 60 years marriage in 2007. Chart of China (60 years old)

The People's Republic of China is 60 years old. Time to have a look at the natal chart and transits. The Moon happens to be conjunct mine. I have never been there, but perhaps I would feel more at home than I can imagine. Maybe it is a good idea to go there and see how it feels:)...

NAME
China's name contains the word 'people'. The Moon - symbol of the people - is conjunct the Ascendant (name) and in Aquarius (sign for a republic, opposition the royal Leo). I wonder if anyone manipulated the time of this chart because of this, but if not: it is a brilliant astrological statement.

RESTRICTIONS AND WALLS
Saturn was rising before the Sun, without major aspects and in Virgo. This is reflecting the conservative and restrictive orientation. Mercury is semi sextile Saturn and so is Mars. In fact,Saturn is positioned on the midpoint of Mercury and Mars, restricting (Saturn) discussions (Mercury-Mars). But the prominence of Saturn might also reflect a more fysical restriction: the famous Chinese wall, here on a Nasa picture.

WOMEN
Venus is conjunct Midheaven. It was the end of war: peace! (Venus symbolizes peace). Venus AND the Moon are reflecting feminine qualities. With the foundation of the People's Republic China started one of the first nations in the world with equality for women. Political struggle (Mars-Pluto conjunction) often led (and perhaps still leads) to suppression, however. For more about that, see Amnesty International...

BIRTHDAY
The solar return (or birthday) chart has the Moon in Aquarius square Midheaven. That means that there will be a desire for change. The Ascendant of the Solar Return is inconjunct the natal Moon in Aquarius and lately the progressed Ascendant was square natal Moon. That is again a sign of wanted change. Also, transit Pluto will be square natal Sun in a few years time. There might be political difficulties (and reforms), if a country's natal chart works as a person's natal chart does. In that cse, there will be a period of transformation ahead. But didn't we already know that? There might be a visible effect of the economical crisis within 2 years and that may force the Republic to make vital changes in order to get back on trail.

Barack Obama's solar return

During "Gates-gate" transit Saturnus was inconjunct his natal and progressed Ascendant. I remember the first time when Saturn hit his Ascendant. That was when he mistook clear voyants for astrologers and said he never consulted dead Presidents, referring to Nancy Reagan. He had to apologize and talk to Nancy then...In February (same kind of aspects) he supported the wrong guy and girl (Dasch and Killefer). It is clear that Saturn's inconjunctions are reflecting mistakes.

On August 4, Barack Obama will be 48. If he chooses to celebrate his birthday in the White House, Saturn will be on the Midheaven op his solar return chart. So maybe he would better select another place for his birthday party. Saturn on the SR Midheaven might reflect the disadvantages of his position and the importance of responsibilities and ...eventual mistakes.

PROGRESSED Mars, Saturn, Pluto...
In the progressed chart of Obama the combination of Mars, Saturn and Pluto becomes tighter and tighter (see earlier posts, click the label Obama). This combination of aspects warns for the danger of enemies, violence and political struggle. To have to be defended (Mars-Pluto) because of your status (Saturn) is maybe one of the other possible ways to reflect Mars with Saturn and Pluto.

So perhaps 2009/2010 will be difficult. But times are getting better in 2010, on his next birthday. Just one more hard year to go?

SUN TRINE JUPITER 2007/2010
By the end of August 2010 his progressed Sun will have changed sign to Libra and the first aspect is a trine with the optimistic Jupiter in July 2011. Those who are so fortunate to have an aspect with Jupiter first of all when the progressed Sun is in a new sign can see their lives change in a positive way. Of course, Obama will benefit in the first place. There has been a previous trine with Jupiter. In December 2007 his progressed Sun was trine progressed Jupiter. At the time a new poll showed that he was on the lead in Iowa, a crucial moment in the caucus.) The whole period between the trine with progressed and natal Jupiter will be coloured with support and success, no matter what hard times provided by Saturn may lay ahead. Jupiter also reflects travelling, meeting 'internationals' and growth (more knowledge, more insight).

Life changing chart of Chastity Bono

Recently I wrote about the signs of changing times. Chastity Bono is now about to transform into Chas Bono. What signs of strong change are there in her chart right now? I see at least four of them:

1. In a few month times the progressed Sun will be inconjunct Pluto for a disproportionate and perhaps difficult transformation.
2. Transit Uranus is opposition her natal Midheaven for upheavel.
3. Sun and Moon are on the angles of the solar return chart for this year, indicating crucial changes regarding fysical health, style and manners, presentation and condition.
4. Transit Pluto square Uranus promisses revolutionary change.

Pluto is very important in her natal chart. Pluto is conjunct Midheaven. That means that her condition and position is strongly related to issues of life and death, money, power, politics and sexuality. Pluto is also a symbol of transformation...
Mars is the first outer planet rising before her Sun. The political (Pluto) activism (Mars) is clearly indicated. Pluto is inconjunct the Venus-Saturn conjunction, pointing at a possible serious hormonal problem.

It must be hard to change your life in such a drastic manner, with operations, chemistry and the pain. The combination of the transit of Neptune inconjunct Midheaven and the up coming transit of Saturn conjunct Midheaven could indicate hospitalization. But, the fact that Chas lives in an artists' and unconventional environment with enough money to make the best of it will hopefully help.

Meanwhile her mother (Cher Bono Allman) has the progressive Sun in the final degree of Cancer. Last year she had Sun conjunct Saturn and worried about her son (see the post involved). Is it the Moon inconjunct Uranus that causes upheavel about her family? Or would it be the 'calling'*) Black Moon Lilith in the fifth house? According to Lilith Tribe the fifth house position of Lilith makes motherhood uneasy...

*)Calling: no major aspects in sign and/or in orb 5 degrees. The effect is that the calling planet manifests at any possible level, strongly. Black Moon Lilith in the 5th house, calling, would strongly manifest the nature of Black Moon Lilith in 5th house affairs such as children, play and entertainment.

Astrological signs of changing times

SIGNS OF CHANGING TIMES
Here are more than a dozen astrological indications for life changing periods! Of course: with examples….But first one warning:
It depends on the amount of aspects and/or of mirrored aspects in the natal chart how strong the effect of the signs of changing times will be. And as you may notice from the examples: there is miscellaneous effect, depending on the natal chart, other aspects and transits that accompany the signs of changing times and last but not least: ages, genes and social/economic circumstances.

MORE INDICATIONS, MORE CHALLINGING CHANGE
One swallow doesn’t make a summer, but three of them usually do:)... When there are three or more of those signs of changing times within a short period of time, it might be difficult to cope with the amount of challenges. Changes require flexibility and for older people a lot of challenges at the time might just be too much. There are easy and welcome changes. But life changing events can also be strenuous or dramatic.

A recent example is Susan Boyle’s chart with a changing Sun sign, Pluto square SA Midheaven, Saturn inconjunct Midheaven and Venus on the IC of the Solar Return Chart. With more than 3 important signs of changing times, she collapsed shortly after she became nr. 2 in ‘Britain’s got more talent’. Nevertheless, she is becoming one of the better payed artists in the UK.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS?

The list of astrological signs for changing times below gives an idea of when life changes. There is no hierarchy of importance in the number of the sign of change.

1. When progressed (Solar Arc) Sun sign changes

This period starts lasts about 3 to 4 years, starting when the progressed Sun enters the 29th degree of a sign. Everybody has 2 or 3 of such periods in a life time. The major aspects in the period offer further information about the nature of the change.

2. Transit Pluto is in aspect with your Sun or progressed Sun

Pluto is the planet of dramatic change and transformation. The transit of Pluto forces you to make changes in life style or in the way that you developed. Especially with the conjunction might sort of force you to start living life in a more intense way. The effect is stronger and longer when you have a major or minor aspect between Sun and Pluto in the natal chart.

3. Transit Uranus is in aspect with your (progressed) Sun

Uranus is the planet of hectic sudden changes. The transit of Uranus shakes your world and the way that you see it or as you came to see it. For a period you might be ‘in the news’ and discussed. The effect is stronger and longer when you have a major or minor aspect between Sun and Uranus in the natal chart.

4. The conjunction of progressed Sun

When the progressed Sun joins another planet or the Moon, something new enters your life; new developments alter your life style. I had Sun conjunct ruler 7 when I married, for example.

5. The progressed Sun in opposition

When the Sun is opposition another planet or the Moon you are strongly influenced by the outside world (by what other people – want you to – do). I know of someone with progressed Sun opposition Pluto, whose life changed in a dramatic way when her husband left her and her financial situation altered. One of the Popes had this aspect when he died within one month after being elected pope. Dramatic change at old age is more difficult, even when it means success. And Pluto’s effect is always strong…

6. Transit Saturn in aspect with your Sun

Saturn is the planet of endings and separations. With the transit of Saturn a life style (way of life) or life (as you know it) ends. There are shortcomings, mistakes, guilt and debts to consider. Often, when people die, they see their lives as a debit-credit account. What did they do wrong, what deserves respect...These considerations often lead to changes, because you clearly see (Sun) what is wrong in your life (Saturn).

7. Progressed Midheaven changing sign

The changing sign of Midheaven changes the condition or status of a person. It is important to know the exact hour of birth for information about Midheaven.

8. Transit Uranus or Pluto in aspect with (progressed) Midheaven

Dramatic changes in status or reputation are involved when there is a transit or progressed aspect of Midheaven with Uranus or Pluto.

9. Progressed Sun/Moon with slow moving transits (for example from Pluto)

10. The progressed Moon on the angles (Ascendant, MC, IC or Descendant)

With the progressed Moon on one of the angles of the (progressed) chart, emotional change might happen. Often this is just temporary, a moment in time that somehow emotioned you or that you may remember later.

11. Planets on the Solar Return Chart angles

With a planet on the angles of the solar return chart, something of importance makes it a special year. It might be the end of a period (Saturn on an angle), lost or confusion might change your ways (Neptune), a shocking or surprising event might mark the year (Uranus), but it can also be a year of fun and tender loving (Venus), family affairs (Moon), being struck or hit (Mars), great development or a voyage (Jupiter). Your position changes when the Moon, Pluto or Uranus is in hard aspect with the Midheaven of the solar return chart. This doesn’t necessarily mean a changing status or career. Often it refers to family matters (motherhood, parenthood, changes in the family or domestic changes).

12. Transit Neptune in aspect with (progressed) Sun or Midheaven

Neptune confuses and redirects (mostly in the 'wrong' direction: out of the limelight). A period of isolation sometimes offers opportunities, for example for artists, authors or composers. But most Neptunic transits occur when illness, weakness or disappointment is the issue. Isolation in hospital, in another country, in your own house...Neptune is like a mist and in the mist noise is sometimes even louder. You can clearly hear what is wrong, but you cannot focus on the problem and you cannot solve it until the transit is over and the mist passed bye.
Does this aspect change you? Yes, it makes you aware of what is wrong with you, your life style, your career or your family life. And this is a chance to get a vision of what life should be like, later.

13. Joyfull changes with Jupiter

Of course, with Jupiter's transits and progressions life can change, too. Mostly that will be in a beneficial way. But Jupiter's transits and progressions just improve, stimulate and grow. They don't change you in the sense of 'transforming you'. It is really up to you. When you profit the honest way, you will benefit. When you make advances the criminal way, you will be exposed later, perhaps. And only when there is a Sun-Jupiter conflict in your natal chart.

14. Transits over the Ascendant and ASC/MC

Transits over the Ascendant have an effect on your ‘horizon’, like transits over the meridian have an effect on your position. Transits over the crosspoint of Ascendant and Midheaven (ASC/MC) has a crucial effect.

SOME EXAMPLES

A. Changing Sun signs

. President Obama's progressed Sun sign is changing during this first period of his presidency. His life and life style changed and is still changing. As he is the leader of the country, the USA is also transforming.
. The Berlusconi's both had the progressed Sun sign changing at the time of their marriage.
. Dave Dee died in a period of the Sun sign changing sign.
. The young King of Bhutan is in a period of a changing progressed sun sign now that he became King.
. Sarah Ferguson divorced in 1996 with progressed Sun in 27.5 Scorpio and after that she completely changed her life style. She cleared her debts in 1998 (when the Sun moved to Sagittarius).
- David Carradine (December 8, 1936 Hollywood) died June 3, 2009 in Bangkok in suspicious and rather strange circumstances, in the year when the progressed Sun sign was changing.

B. Pluto and the Sun

. The young King of Bhutan has transit Pluto square progressed Sun now: he is in the middle of a period of dramatic changes (for him and his country).
. Sometimes the transit of Pluto refers to the 'come back' of old problems. This happened to Dutch Prince Bernhard jr. who had to have surgery twice because the same physical problem reappeared with transit Pluto conjunct the Sun.
. I know of a person who had transit Pluto conjunct progressed Sun and transit Uranus square natal Sun at the same time. Her life ended in that period.

C. Progressed Sun/Moon

Joe Biden had Transit Pluto at 29d22 Sagittarius semi square his progressed Sun/Moon in 14d16 Aquarius on Election Day and in the months before. He was confronted with the death of a family member, political confrontations and the transformation to vice-president.

EXPLANATION
PROGRESSIONS
Progressions: the astrological positions following the day of birth. One day after birth = the first year after birth, etc. The view from earth with the movement of earth around it's axis in one day resembles the view with the movement of the earth around the sun in one year. The progression symbolizes the view ahead for the years to come.

ACTIVATED NATAL CHART ASPECTS
Transits and progressions that are connecting the same planets that form an aspect in the natal chart, have the strongest effect. Say: if you have Sun inconjunct Uranus and transit Uranus is conjunct your progressed Sun, this transit will have a stronger effect for you than it has for someone who does not have a Sun-Uranus connection in the natal chart. It is quite logical that the planet of upheaval will have a stronger effect in the life of someone with a disposition for disproportionate upheaval, an impulsive or nervous person (for example). Or when you have Sun sextile Neptune, the transit of Neptune conjunct your Sun may bring certain weaknesses to the light that were already there. Your natural talent to 'hide away' or 'pretend' will be highlighted due to circumstances.

The transits and progressions need to be interpreted with the natal chart in mind, as always. And in particular when they mirror the natal chart.

Suri Cruise's chart

Suri Cruise is only 3 years old and has to go to school 5 full days, newspapers say. This happens to her with transit Neptune conjunct progressed Ascendant (a negative situation, isolation). Her mother (Kathie Holmes) has transit Saturn conjunct progressed Ascendant right now. That is astrological for separation, blame and responsibilties being in a crucial stade. But Tom Cruises'transits are not funny either. Transit Neptune is oppositon progressed Sun and transit Saturn is inconjunct progressed Moon: depressing. Maybe school is a better place right now!

When a person is born with transit Neptune on the Ascendant and Neptune is approaching within a few years, there is the issue of isolation (perhaps hospitalisation) in the early years. (I know of a person who was in hospital in her first year. Later she started working in that field.) So in this period, her parents should guard her against feeling left alone and isolated. Going to school all day (without a period of trial) might make her feel lost.

In Suri's chart, Jupiter is also important (being elevated). The combination of Jupiter and Neptune refers to 'the devoted audience' (fans, followers, religion). The prominence of Jupiter and Neptune in the natal chart of Suri Cruise might of course point at the crucial importance of Scientology. But also at having fans and followers (a public). She is a pretty girl already...

BTW: Thought you might like to know that Suri Cruise will have a very happy birthday, with Jupiter - the planet of joy - on the IC of her solar return. So all's well that ends well, perhaps. The solar return chart is supposed to indicate the situation of the year to come. And Jupiter (symbol of the coach, doctor and advisor) always helps and protects. Transit Jupiter will be conjunct her Ascendant soon, so good advice is on the way!

MCCAIN AHEAD OF OBAMA A winning solar return?

Exciting polls in the USA! Now McCain seems to be winning. His birthday was August 29. The solar return chart for 2008/2009 has (with the now known hour of birth of 11:00 hours) Jupiter - planet of success - on the Midheaven.
