Chart of Adele

One of the most successful singers today is Adele, born May 5, 1988 in London. Time to study her chart! Astrotheme.fr says that she was born at 3:02 a.m. and that is the time that I used. Here is the chart, calculated on Astro.com with transits and progressions for October 19, 2012 when Adele gave birth to a son. (The father is charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki.)

What you see when using the tightests aspects, is:

1. Progressed Moon opposition natal Sun (life changing moment)
2. Progressed Sun quindecile natal Moon (close spotlights on family)
3. Progressed Venus quindecile natal MC (a strong wish coming true)

5. Transit Pluto close to progressed Midheaven (intense change in the course of life)
This seems to cover the event…

Of course, I first looked for the pattern of artistic talent and the singer in the chart and for the keys to success. Here are some of them:
1. Mercury 'calling' to communicate somehow, anyhow
2. MC 'calling' to have a position at any possible level
3. Jupiter with Sun, Pluto and Uranus for extra self confidence
4. Angular Mars for the drive and energy that it takes to be a pop star.
5. Venus-Uranus opposition for sense of rhythm (frequent in the charts of pop singers)
6. Mercury quindecile Midheaven (an obsessive focus on using voice or pen in the career)
7. Venus quindecile Neptune for a strong focus on romance and…artistic talents
8. Venus trine Ascendant and opposition Moon for the good looks.
9. Jupiter ruler 10, rising before the Sun
10. The combination of Sun in Taurus, Moon in Sagittarius and Aquarius Ascendant for the uniqueness, the positive approach and perseverance (Taurus) that makes Adele who she is.

Progressed chart, art and career (re Dali)

In my blog Art & Astrology I mentioned the chart of Salvador Dali. His chart is an example of the influencial progressed chart. The progressed chart is the chart for the xth day after birth, valid for the xth year after birth. The progressed chart tells us about the course of life, how we change, develop and get chances (or not). The birth chart gives the tools and the progressed chart shows the way. The progressed chart of Salvador Dali had Mercury conjunct Venus when the progressed Sun changed sign in 1929. His life changed when somebody came to teach him how to draw!

The chart of Salvador Dali made me think about finding the best profession for a person at a certain age. Because people develope and change and some of us change late. Maybe too late to make a fresh new start, but sometimes the change was more gradual and only adding experience or a new style. Salvador Dali was thought how to draw and he had basic talents. He had the right stimulating teacher, he was encouraged into the right direction and trained to get skilled. And later he went to the right place to be part of the 'scene'.

In the earlier post about Obama's progressed chart you can see how his chart in progression shows the statesman that is not that obvious in the natal chart. In fact, you can WATCH Obama grow into the position of President each day. On the other hand, some potential that originaly existed at birth might have vanished through the years, of course.

People grow, people get educated and change and at a certain point in life they are READY and fit for the job they were ment for. Salvador Dali's initial artistic talents were illustrated by Venus end dispositor of the Midheaven in Taurus, sextile Neptune and that was all. But when a friend of his father started educating him and teaching him to draw, in his progressed chart Mercury and Venus had come together for 'art classes' and his progressed Sun sign changed. So did his life!

When he went to Paris in 1929 his progressed MC changed sign to Taurus!

So again, the progressed chart is of importance and gives information about a person's goals and interests as they were influenced by others and by circumstances AFTER birth. Maybe your initial chart (the birth chart) is not enough to be what you wanted to be, but maybe your progressed chart adds just what you need. Be on the lookout for it!

Living with astrology (and EC 2012 football)

One of the comments on this blog was about relying on astrology for 'every move'.  I started this post explaining how I use or don't use astrology, in a sort of a defense and I ended with football. Astrology is one of the ways to advice myself. I don't rely on astrology for 'every move' that I make. It is an extra. Astrology in itself doesn't create limitations or wipe out free will (unless you decide to do as your astrologer tells you to do, in which case you gave away control. That is not astrology's fault).  Astrology is not an island. Charts are interactive. Astrology is interaction between individuals, situations and charts. It is like football!

Football is a game, a match between teams. You can't win the pool simply by calculating the sum of brilliant players and a respected coach. You need to know the same about the other team. You also need to know conditions of teams and weather. And how to calculate surprising chances? That is why you can't win the pool always.  You can bet on it, but you will never know for sure. If you knew beforehand, you wouldn't have to play the game at all.
A natal chart is the reflection of a character. You need to know gender, genes, social conditions, culture and even more to really completely know about the person who was born with this chart. You won't be able to predict exactly what a person will do on a certain day and you can't decide for this person, based upon the chart only. You can only speculate with a certain percentage of accuracy. People are people and they are as unpredictable as the weather is.

There are posts about football and astrology on this blog, written during EC's.  In those posts I used the final moment of the match to see which coach was more pleased or down. Or better: I checked the positions of the natal chart of the coaches to see if and what kind of aspect the actual MC of the final moment made with their natal positions. I evaluated the results and found it a rather interesting method to see who had the best chance to be the winner (if you are sure that the coach wants to win). This time I didn't have the time to check them all. But tonight there is an important Portugal-Netherlands and yesterday a Dutch coach was involved in Greece-Russia. So I couldn't resist the ephemeris and this is what I found, using the chart of the final moment.

Greece-Russia
The times of football games are chosen by officials, not by the coaches. One of the two teams have to win (unless they play even). Yesterday the Greek won and Russia lost. The final moment was a few minutes and seconds after 20:30 Greenwich Time (22:30 MET).

Fernando Santos was born 10th October 1954 in Lisbon.  He coaches the Greek team. Santos Jupiter and Uranus 'responded' to the horizon (Ascendant-Descendant) shortly after transit Ascendant inconjunct Pluto. The stress was almost too much, but once the referee whistled, there was relief. At the official final moment Midheaven was square Pluto: a position of value had been reached. Greece was back! (Pluto-MC is reflecting a come back with stress)

Dick Advocaaat was born September 27, 1947 in the Netherlands. He had a nervous day of tension (transit Sun conjunct his Uranus) and at the final moment transit Midheaven was inconjunct Uranus. Inconjunctions don't promise a victory. They are about loss and losing balance (see Astromarkt). A surprising (Uranus) loss (in conjunct) as a result (MC): disqualified.

Portugal-Netherlands
Tonight The Netherlands have to win with at least 2 more goals than Portugal and only if Germany wins, too, the Dutch team won't have to go back to Holland. Chances are low and they have a considerable risk of disqualification.
They play against a team with a coach (Paolo Bento, born June 20 1969) who has a Sun-transit Jupiter day today (a lucky day) and at the final moment you see some content (Transit MC inconjunct his Venus).  He might loose and still be pleased.

 The Dutch coach Van Marwijk however has the same kind of aspect that Dick Advocaat had the night before: Transit MC inconjunct Uranus. Now what will the result be? We will soon know if transit MC in conjunct Uranus really means disqualification. That could happen even with a 0-1 or a 0-2 (if Germany looses).

This is not a prediction. This is the analysis of a moment in time and the interaction of that moment with natal positions of coaches. This interaction might mirror their response to the results of the match. I used it in 2008 and it worked. Let us see about 2012:).

Coaches can't avoid a moment or a date of a game. If you can, do you check your ephemeris? And what is your opinion about that? Is it acceptable to take the chart's positions into account for important decisions? Do the poll!

Pluto/Ascendant/Midheaven midpoint combinations

Pluto is the symbol of strategy, influence, authority and intensity. Ascendant/Midheaven (AC/MC) is the most individual midpoint, at the cross point of longitude and latitude degree, where you were born. Your situation and condition and destiny is revealed by the aspects with AC/MC. What’s your goal and how is your environment and where do they (the objectives and the situation) come together: at AC/MC midpoint. Any aspect with AC/MC midpoint is of crucial importance and clarifies more about you.

When Pluto is part of a midpoint combination with Ascendant and Midheaven you are not superficial; you are a fanatic and tend to dive deep into your life goals. You may be a specialist or an authority, fascinating or impressing. It very much depends on the rest of the chart whether the influence will be at larger scale. One of the other possible meanings of this midpoint combination is a complete transformation in life, for example when somebody suddenly becomes rich or famous or ...the opposite of this. Transits of Pluto with the angles often occur in times of stress and challenges. Natal Pluto/AC/MC combinations could be the reflection of stress at birth and the impact on the personality later. My examples are Billy Graham (Pluto/MC = AC) and Indira Ghandi (Pluto/AC square MC).

Transits of Pluto with Midheaven, Ascendant or AC/MC reveal a lot of the meaning of Pluto/AC/MC combinations. I quote:

Northern Node/AC/MC midpoint combinations

When there is a midpoint combination of Node, Ascendant and Midheaven the family, nation or community put their marks on your situation and personality and define your destination. Or: the situation of a group of people (family, tribe, nation) depends on you. This combination occurs in the chart of John F. Kennedy and evil doctor Mengele. The Kennedy's of course influenced the career of JFK and Mengele was one of many Nazi's. The combination just means that you are associated with people who share your goals or that you share the goals of a group of persons.

There are various ways to link the Northern Node to Midheaven. Barack Obama for example has Node square Midheaven.

Schwarzenegger and progressed MC sign changing

An example of a change without transits and progressions with the progressed Sun is the A-rated (not AA!) chart of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who stops being the Calfifornian Governor on January 3, 2011. His progressed Midheaven is changing sign instead...

The progressed Midheaven is the MC of the progressed chart. The progressed MC shows us in what way your status or condition is changing. When the sign of the progressed Midheaven changes, there is often a change in perspective or status (at home*) or in the career).

Mars, Saturn and Pluto are rising before the Sun in the progressed chart. Some people change very much and their progressed chart shows us how. Let me show you the progressed aspects and transits:

• Progressed Saturn inconjunct natal descendant and

•  Progressed Midheaven changing sign....is a career changing...
• Transit Pluto is almost inconjunct the natal Sun (for losing self esteem and influence) 
• Transit Mars opposition Ascendant and square natal Sun/Moon might point at being hurt.

The combination of Mars and Saturn with Ascendant/Descendant shows a death end horizon.

Of course the lost elections triggered the change and we should look at the transits and progressions of November 4, 2010, too. Progressed Mercury had just been inconjunct Midheaven. Inconjunctions refer to losts. But Jupiter had just been conjunct Midheaven, because he won the race (and Megan Fox lost).

Closing time Election day chart

The polls are open until 10 p.m. Previously I tought it was at 19:00 hours, but that was wrong. So here is the true chart of the UK Elections closing time (Times Online says it is 10 p.m.).

The suns or progressed Suns of the party leaders are all in aspect with the MC of closing time (30th degree of Virgo). The progressed Suns of Liberal Nick Clegg (on the edge of Aquarius and Pisces) and Labour Gordon Brown (in the last degree of Aries) are inconjunct (quincunx) the Virgo MC. The progressed Sun of Conservative David Cameron (in the final degree of Scorpio) is sextile the MC. It is peculiar that all three have the Sun in the final degree of a sign (reflecting a changing life style). Their Progresed Suns are afflicting each others P Sun and that is in line with their positions. Nick Clegg and Gordon Brown should perhaps work together after the elections and their progressed Suns are sextile (Aries and Aquarius), a rather soft combination. The progressed Sun of David Cameron is square Gordon Brown's and inconjunct Nick Clegg's. Squares and inconjunctions are hard aspects.

Inconjunctions often refer to losts, but time will tell if that is right, today. As a result of the exit polls the conservatives are smelling victory already (see Times). Click the label Elections or Politics to see more about the candidates or move to 'Hot items now' (above).

Chart of John de Mol ('Big Brother') and Quaoar

Pluto is the symbol of money, power and influence. Transit Pluto is now trine the natal Sun of John de Mol, one of the persons on the list of the 50 most influential persons in the world, according to the Financial Times. He is the man behind ‘ Big Brother’. His chart and the family situation/conditions were a perfect mix. This post is about that mix and about Quaoar, the new dwarf planet making an exact square with his Ascendant.

QUAOAR
Quaoar is the symbol of a creative person, able to shape new worlds and...he dances and sings. Isn't that a perfect prominent position for Quaoar in the chart of the man behind the entertainment factory? Transit Quaoar is now in the 21st of Sagittarius and trine his progressed Ascendant. Maybe it is not surprising that Quaoar drew my attention, since that is conjunct vital positions in my natal chart and prorgressed Descendant.

CONDITIONS/SITUATIONS
It is nice to have the chart of an inventive manager, but when you are born in the middle of nowhere you won't become mr. Big Brother. John de Mol's father ran a radio station after he stopped singing. His sister works in the media, too, and is the most successful woman on television. It is all in the family, but it takes skills and the will to succeed to make a success of a given situation. John de Mol succeeded indeed!

TALENTS
His natal chart shows a potential for (artistic and creative) talents, being inventive and working hard with an extra creative talent to make money. Mars 'calling' is 'work calling'. He is a promotor at any possible level and may be a workaholic.

Here you see the chart with 1) a ‘ calling’ Mars (self made, workaholic), 2) an oriental Saturn (business and career first), 3) Venus in aspect with Sun/Moon (motivated by pleasure and entertainment) and on Aries Point (known for this) and 4) a Midheaven in Pisces (field of the media) with Venus<>MR Neptune disposing of the MC (talented), 5) the MC sesquisquare Jupiter and Uranus (inventive, helicopter view). 6) Watch the 160 degree aspect between the most prominent planets of this chart (Mars and Saturn) for rejoicing working hard!

Transit Pluto is nowmirroring a period of being considered an authority.

Chart of Willie Brandt, Saturn, Pluto and the museum

As I said before today, Saturn-Pluto CAN have a positive effect. That is when you are gaining respect and that is another boomerang effect...
Willie Brandt (mayor of Berlin) has died long ago, but now they name a museum after him. Look at the transits!

Transit Saturn has been square Midheaven (and will be back)
Transit Pluto will soon be conjunct Midheaven
Transit Pluto will also soon be square progressed Sun
Transit Saturn recently was opposition progressed Sun (and will be back)

This is completed by Progressed Sun square Midheaven (and that is like a spotlight over your career and status).

Here is the chart of Willie Brandt. His Pluto (symbol of politics) doesn’t make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees and is opposition Midheaven. That makes the symbol of the politician a prominent one in this natal chart.

Astrological signs of changing times

SIGNS OF CHANGING TIMES
Here are more than a dozen astrological indications for life changing periods! Of course: with examples….But first one warning:
It depends on the amount of aspects and/or of mirrored aspects in the natal chart how strong the effect of the signs of changing times will be. And as you may notice from the examples: there is miscellaneous effect, depending on the natal chart, other aspects and transits that accompany the signs of changing times and last but not least: ages, genes and social/economic circumstances.

MORE INDICATIONS, MORE CHALLINGING CHANGE
One swallow doesn’t make a summer, but three of them usually do:)... When there are three or more of those signs of changing times within a short period of time, it might be difficult to cope with the amount of challenges. Changes require flexibility and for older people a lot of challenges at the time might just be too much. There are easy and welcome changes. But life changing events can also be strenuous or dramatic.

A recent example is Susan Boyle’s chart with a changing Sun sign, Pluto square SA Midheaven, Saturn inconjunct Midheaven and Venus on the IC of the Solar Return Chart. With more than 3 important signs of changing times, she collapsed shortly after she became nr. 2 in ‘Britain’s got more talent’. Nevertheless, she is becoming one of the better payed artists in the UK.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS?

The list of astrological signs for changing times below gives an idea of when life changes. There is no hierarchy of importance in the number of the sign of change.

1. When progressed (Solar Arc) Sun sign changes

This period starts lasts about 3 to 4 years, starting when the progressed Sun enters the 29th degree of a sign. Everybody has 2 or 3 of such periods in a life time. The major aspects in the period offer further information about the nature of the change.

2. Transit Pluto is in aspect with your Sun or progressed Sun

Pluto is the planet of dramatic change and transformation. The transit of Pluto forces you to make changes in life style or in the way that you developed. Especially with the conjunction might sort of force you to start living life in a more intense way. The effect is stronger and longer when you have a major or minor aspect between Sun and Pluto in the natal chart.

3. Transit Uranus is in aspect with your (progressed) Sun

Uranus is the planet of hectic sudden changes. The transit of Uranus shakes your world and the way that you see it or as you came to see it. For a period you might be ‘in the news’ and discussed. The effect is stronger and longer when you have a major or minor aspect between Sun and Uranus in the natal chart.

4. The conjunction of progressed Sun

When the progressed Sun joins another planet or the Moon, something new enters your life; new developments alter your life style. I had Sun conjunct ruler 7 when I married, for example.

5. The progressed Sun in opposition

When the Sun is opposition another planet or the Moon you are strongly influenced by the outside world (by what other people – want you to – do). I know of someone with progressed Sun opposition Pluto, whose life changed in a dramatic way when her husband left her and her financial situation altered. One of the Popes had this aspect when he died within one month after being elected pope. Dramatic change at old age is more difficult, even when it means success. And Pluto’s effect is always strong…

6. Transit Saturn in aspect with your Sun

Saturn is the planet of endings and separations. With the transit of Saturn a life style (way of life) or life (as you know it) ends. There are shortcomings, mistakes, guilt and debts to consider. Often, when people die, they see their lives as a debit-credit account. What did they do wrong, what deserves respect...These considerations often lead to changes, because you clearly see (Sun) what is wrong in your life (Saturn).

7. Progressed Midheaven changing sign

The changing sign of Midheaven changes the condition or status of a person. It is important to know the exact hour of birth for information about Midheaven.

8. Transit Uranus or Pluto in aspect with (progressed) Midheaven

Dramatic changes in status or reputation are involved when there is a transit or progressed aspect of Midheaven with Uranus or Pluto.

9. Progressed Sun/Moon with slow moving transits (for example from Pluto)

10. The progressed Moon on the angles (Ascendant, MC, IC or Descendant)

With the progressed Moon on one of the angles of the (progressed) chart, emotional change might happen. Often this is just temporary, a moment in time that somehow emotioned you or that you may remember later.

11. Planets on the Solar Return Chart angles

With a planet on the angles of the solar return chart, something of importance makes it a special year. It might be the end of a period (Saturn on an angle), lost or confusion might change your ways (Neptune), a shocking or surprising event might mark the year (Uranus), but it can also be a year of fun and tender loving (Venus), family affairs (Moon), being struck or hit (Mars), great development or a voyage (Jupiter). Your position changes when the Moon, Pluto or Uranus is in hard aspect with the Midheaven of the solar return chart. This doesn’t necessarily mean a changing status or career. Often it refers to family matters (motherhood, parenthood, changes in the family or domestic changes).

12. Transit Neptune in aspect with (progressed) Sun or Midheaven

Neptune confuses and redirects (mostly in the 'wrong' direction: out of the limelight). A period of isolation sometimes offers opportunities, for example for artists, authors or composers. But most Neptunic transits occur when illness, weakness or disappointment is the issue. Isolation in hospital, in another country, in your own house...Neptune is like a mist and in the mist noise is sometimes even louder. You can clearly hear what is wrong, but you cannot focus on the problem and you cannot solve it until the transit is over and the mist passed bye.
Does this aspect change you? Yes, it makes you aware of what is wrong with you, your life style, your career or your family life. And this is a chance to get a vision of what life should be like, later.

13. Joyfull changes with Jupiter

Of course, with Jupiter's transits and progressions life can change, too. Mostly that will be in a beneficial way. But Jupiter's transits and progressions just improve, stimulate and grow. They don't change you in the sense of 'transforming you'. It is really up to you. When you profit the honest way, you will benefit. When you make advances the criminal way, you will be exposed later, perhaps. And only when there is a Sun-Jupiter conflict in your natal chart.

14. Transits over the Ascendant and ASC/MC

Transits over the Ascendant have an effect on your ‘horizon’, like transits over the meridian have an effect on your position. Transits over the crosspoint of Ascendant and Midheaven (ASC/MC) has a crucial effect.

SOME EXAMPLES

A. Changing Sun signs

. President Obama's progressed Sun sign is changing during this first period of his presidency. His life and life style changed and is still changing. As he is the leader of the country, the USA is also transforming.
. The Berlusconi's both had the progressed Sun sign changing at the time of their marriage.
. Dave Dee died in a period of the Sun sign changing sign.
. The young King of Bhutan is in a period of a changing progressed sun sign now that he became King.
. Sarah Ferguson divorced in 1996 with progressed Sun in 27.5 Scorpio and after that she completely changed her life style. She cleared her debts in 1998 (when the Sun moved to Sagittarius).
- David Carradine (December 8, 1936 Hollywood) died June 3, 2009 in Bangkok in suspicious and rather strange circumstances, in the year when the progressed Sun sign was changing.

B. Pluto and the Sun

. The young King of Bhutan has transit Pluto square progressed Sun now: he is in the middle of a period of dramatic changes (for him and his country).
. Sometimes the transit of Pluto refers to the 'come back' of old problems. This happened to Dutch Prince Bernhard jr. who had to have surgery twice because the same physical problem reappeared with transit Pluto conjunct the Sun.
. I know of a person who had transit Pluto conjunct progressed Sun and transit Uranus square natal Sun at the same time. Her life ended in that period.

C. Progressed Sun/Moon

Joe Biden had Transit Pluto at 29d22 Sagittarius semi square his progressed Sun/Moon in 14d16 Aquarius on Election Day and in the months before. He was confronted with the death of a family member, political confrontations and the transformation to vice-president.

D. Aspects made by progressed Midheaven or transits with (progressed) Midheaven

EXPLANATION
PROGRESSIONS
Progressions: the astrological positions following the day of birth. One day after birth = the first year after birth, etc. The view from earth with the movement of earth around it's axis in one day resembles the view with the movement of the earth around the sun in one year. The progression symbolizes the view ahead for the years to come.

ACTIVATED NATAL CHART ASPECTS
Transits and progressions that are connecting the same planets that form an aspect in the natal chart, have the strongest effect. Say: if you have Sun inconjunct Uranus and transit Uranus is conjunct your progressed Sun, this transit will have a stronger effect for you than it has for someone who does not have a Sun-Uranus connection in the natal chart. It is quite logical that the planet of upheaval will have a stronger effect in the life of someone with a disposition for disproportionate upheaval, an impulsive or nervous person (for example). Or when you have Sun sextile Neptune, the transit of Neptune conjunct your Sun may bring certain weaknesses to the light that were already there. Your natural talent to 'hide away' or 'pretend' will be highlighted due to circumstances.

The transits and progressions need to be interpreted with the natal chart in mind, as always. And in particular when they mirror the natal chart.

Susan Boyle and the finale (..select your moment...)

This is an easy post, because it is easier to after-dict than to pre-dict and also more 'astropolitical correct'. Here is a belated 'glass ball' that shows what all of you can see, too:
1. the aspects of transitting planets of yesterday and
2. the MC of the final moment of the broadcasting
This of course in combination with the natal positions of Susan Boyle.

In short: there were too many difficult aspects last night. It is a rather alarming picture. There were more than 3 indications for not becoming the winner of 100.000 pounds and a visit to the Queen. Nevertheless: earlier this year (with SA Mercury-Jupiter) she had her contract and she become known all over the world. Yesterday however, was not her best lucky day.

A. TRANSITS

1. Transit Mars square Saturn (hard competition)
2. Transit Saturn inconjunct Midheaven (giving up on a position, stepping back...)
3. Transit Neptune semi square Sun (frustrating disappointment)
4. Transit Jupiter semi square Sun (frustrating success)
(Jupiter and Neptune together are the combination of the devoted audience, the fans, and the media attention.)
5. Transit Uranus 15 degrees from the Sun for tension.
6. Tertiairy Moon inconjunct natal Moon: emotional outburst?
7. Transit Pluto square Solar Arc MC: period of transformation, courage needed in the profession.

Inconjunctions often reflect a loss. Semi squares indicate possible frustration. Inconjunctions and semi squares dominate the above picture of the transits for Susan Boyle during the finale last night. There is no trine, no conjunction with a beneficial planet.. .

In the earlier post 'Heroes, Angles and Sun inconjunct Neptune' I mentioned the present semi square of transit Neptune with Susan Boyle's Sun and the meaning of Neptune (disappointment), also considering the existing Sun inconjunct Neptune in her natal chart. Transits and progressions with the same combination of planets as aspects in the natal chart are activating the combination of the natal chart. Such 'repeated' combinations have a stronger effect than other transits or progressions. .
And there was even more Neptunic influence...

B. THE MC OF THE FINAL MOMENT (EXIT)
There was another firm indication of disappointment, again with Neptune involved. See the chart below:

This is the chart of the final moment of the television broadcasting program Britain's Got More Talent. The Midheaven (and/or the most elevated point of the circle, the square with the Ascendant) points at Neptune, Susan Boyle's natal Neptune. When I saw that, I was almost certain that she would not be the winner. During the EC and WC football I used the Midheaven of the final moment of a match and the natal chart of the coaches to try to see which one was happier with the results. I was happy with the method used with football matches!:) There were some interesting results (see the link).

SELECT A MOMENT
An artist has no free will to choose the final moment of the finale and coaches are not able to select the hour of the matches. But you can perhaps choose an hour for an important meeting, just by watching the astrological clock. Maybe it works and if it doesn't, no harm done. Please consider that Susan Boyle has become famous all over the world, even though she didn't win (and see Venus conjunct IC in the solar return: a good year and the progressed Sun in the final degrees of a sign, indicating a life style changing).

Neptune and the chart of Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett has been hospitalized now. She suffers from cancer. On September 29, 2006, she was told that she had anal cancer. That day there were 3 transit inconjunction with her progressed chart:

- transit Mercury inconjunct Saturn (bad news); Mercury is quindecile Saturn in the natal chart

- transit Uranus inconjunct Pluto (a dramatic change or intense shock that is causing misbalance)

- transit Saturn inconjunct Mars (disproportionate halt to energy); Mars is in the eight house square Saturn in her natal chart.

Often,when there are 3 inconjunctions in transit at the time, there is an unpleasant situation.

INCONJUNCTION
The inconjunction in general refers to losing, loss and sometimes (like in this case) to illnesses. In the natal chart there is only one inconjunction: between Moon and Mars. Mars is another prominent planet in her chart. Mars is the planet of orientation (rising before the Sun) and in the 8th house, in opposition with Saturn. And the Moon is very important,too. The Moon is on the Ascendant, in Cancer and not making Ptolemaic aspects. The Moon in Cancer has the most important position in her chart. So, Moon inconjunct Mars is a very important aspect in her chart, relating the ruler of the Ascendant and an important planet in the 8th house of crisis.

NEPTUNE
Mid-May 2007 she heard that the cancer, that was supposed to be in remission after treatment, had recurred. Now that she is in hospital transit Neptune is square the progressed Midheaven. Neptune symbolises weakness or being ill (a negative or isolated - Neptune - condition - Midheaven*). Neptune rules her natal Midheaven and is positioned at the lowest spot of the chart, a crucial position.

There is also a growing opposition between the Sun and Neptune in the primary chart, culminating in the first half of June.

Chart of the earthquake in L'Aquila (Italy) and Uranus

This is the chart of the moment of the Italian earthquake today at 3:32 a.m. Mid European Summer Time. Uranus is the symbol of shocking (...) events. Uranus is important in this chart for 3 reasons:

1. Uranus is the first outer planet rising before the Sun: there is an orientation on an accident or a shocking event
2. Uranus does not make Ptolemaic aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees (in other words: Uranus is 'calling'! and that means that Uranus can be shocking at any possible level)
3. Uranus is exactly square the midpoint Sun/Moon so that there is 'a reigning need' to shock the world

As Uranus is exactly trine Midheaven, there is a way to express the meaning of the combination of these 3 reasons: an orientation on a substantial shock at any possible level. Apparently there was a potential for a shocking event and it was in aspect with the local meridian.

Chart of Nadya Suleman (and progressions)

It has taken me some time to read the chart of Nadya Suleman for the date of birth 11 July 1975 (Fullerton) at 21h59 (source is Astrodatabank, A rating, BC in hand). I started to read her chart before, using a wrong date coming from Wikipedia (also mentioning Astrodatabank as the source) and then I didn't have an HOB. I just had Sun afflicted by Jupiter. Coincidence: in the chart with A rating, the Sun is also afflicted by Jupiter. So that was a good reason to wait.
I also wanted to wait a few weeks to see if another d.o.b. would turn up again.
And I wanted to take a long look before I started to mention possible indications for the amount of children of the octuplet mom (who now has 14 children). You see, it is such a special case and at first sight the chart seems so 'normal'. More people are born on that day, so it would be too easy to read it quickly, like this: Sun conjunct Saturn = being responsible or a parent. Sun and Saturn square Jupiter = wanting more and more of thát responsibility.

It would also have been too easy to only blame Mars (not making Ptolemaic aspects and inconjunct Midheaven and in Taurus) for being productive in a disproportionate and stubborn way, at any kind of level. Mars without major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees is the symbol of the workaholic and overproduction.

CERES
But, those two indications of abundance together with the position of Ceres (Mother Nature) square Ascendant (down under in the chart) say a lot. Genes and seeds are of crucial importance (Ceres square ASC). The position of Ceres is strongly related to the specific place and hour of birth of Nadya Suleman. It is an individual position.
Ceres is important in the natal chart. And Ceres became even more important in the progressed chart. Progressed Ceres was opposition natal MC: her position in society was strongly related to motherhood, genes, roots and seeds.

Now we have overproductivity and the importance of genes and seeds. There is also procreativity and success in this chart.

BEING (PRO-)CREATIVE
Neptune on Midheaven and Moon conjunct Venus reveals some kind of artistic or creative talent. And let us be honest...having children is pro-creating. The Sun in the 5th wants to be a performer, to show off and to be in the centre of attention. And she is! Perhaps she could have demonstrated artistic or creative talents in a different way if she grew up in different circumstances, who knows...
The positions of Neptune and Moon are for this moment and place of birth only.

The Moon is in the 7th house (like in the song:). The Moon is the ruler of the Sun and is displaying the need for company and the desire to serve. Another important fact is that she is a person with a passion (Venus and Mars related to ASC/MC in the 22.5 degree range).
And last but not least: Sun quintile Mars for being creative in the process of producing....

SUCCESS
People may differ in opinion about what is success. In the old days having a lot of children WAS the symbol of success (if you could afford them... of course). In some parts of the world, the amount of descendants is an important figure for status. And when people become a 100 years old, they are named with the number of their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren etc. For a lot of people in the world creating a family and having many descendants is a matter of succes.

JUPITER-PLUTO (the awful lot of ...)
Nadya Suleman had the wish to establish a big family, since she was a teenager. She succeeded in that. Moon and Mars (production of family?) are involved in midpoint combinations with Jupiter and Pluto. The Jupiter-Pluto combination is often prominent in the charts of people with succes. But in fact, it just means that there is a big amount of...popularity (Moon), productivity and drive (Mars), sympathy and money (Venus), attention (Sun) or status (MC). In the chart of Nadya Suleman we see:

- Moon semi square Jupiter/Pluto for success (a very big family)
- Mars sesqui semi square Jupiter/Pluto (+ Jupiter square Mars/Pluto + Pluto 157.5 Mars/Jupiter); an enormous amount of production

CONCLUSION
Together (Moon and Mars in hard aspect with Jupiter/Pluto), Ceres crucial position and the inconjunctions of the 'calling' Mars:
being very successful in producing family with passion and a disproportinate drive; genes or seeds are of crucial importance.
(Could I have read the chart like this when she was still a little baby, I wonder? It is always easier to relate the chart to the lady instead of vice versa:)

NEGATIVE SIDE
The possible negative side of this is shown by:
- Saturn in the middle of Mars and Pluto, conjunct Sun in 5 and Mars-Saturn, Mars-Pluto and Saturn-Pluto are connected by minor aspects, too. It is a dangerous combination often related to unnatural death. So it is rather strange to see this in the house of procreation.
- Neptune on Midheaven in Sagittarius, both inconjunct Mars and sextile Pluto could be seen as the discrete or secret ('magic') position of the males involved. The inconjunctions might refer to losing her children (perhaps to the authorities).

REALIZING DREAMS: NEPTUNE
The Midheaven conjunct Neptune makes us aware of the realization of her dreams, of a career going hand in hand with ideals, illusions and romance. And yes, she did it. In that sense, she is a success in her own eyes. Jupiter is in the 2nd house. She had a house, she has money, and she has help (because of the number of her children. If she had been a single mom of 3 or 4 she would have had worse circumstances, in particular right now with the financial crisis going on. But how about the future of her children?

Gemini on Midheaven (Tom Hanks)

On Art&Astrology I wrote about the artistic pattern in the chart of Tom Hanks. Yesterday I posted an article on this blog, about Venus in mutable signs and multiple marriages (Double bodied signs). Gemini is a double bodied sign*).

Tom Hanks has Venus in Gemini on top of his chart and a Gemini Midheaven. So he is supposed to have more than one marriage (and he has). He also should have two 'look-a-like' carreers, simultaneously or one by one.

Tom Hanks is an actor. But lately he started directing. He is also an investor in electric vehicles. And a voice-over. He has two (...) Oscars. So he has more than one way to make a career. Tom Hanks' Gemini Midheaven produced multiple chances.

Uranus on top or in aspect with Midheaven

Uranus on the MC in the birth charts of people often 'cause' news, shriek, people talking, changes at any level. For example: Karl Marx, Gerard Reve (Dutch homosexual author once on trial for blasphemy) and Dutch princess Margarita (who has Uranus square Ascendant, on top). She accused her aunt, the Queen, of actions against her ex-husband at the time.

Everything that happens and that is shocking (at any possible level or degree) has to do with Uranus. Transit Uranus conjunct the MC is most of the time repeating itself and signifies a hectic period in a changing life. The progressed MC conjunct Uranus is sometimes related to a the position of an outcast (liberating yourself from the past and the family destiny, voluntarily or not). And that, too, might not happen without tumultuous or even embarrassing events. Let me give some examples:

The progressed conjunction of Uranus and Midheaven in today’s chart of Prince Harry of England. He makes controversial and shocking remarks and has to do a training.

Jupiter, the Hudson miracle and the chart of Sully

On Aquarian Solutions I found the date of birth of the heroic pilot of the Hudson miracle, Chesley Burnett 'Sully' Sullenberger III as 23 January 1951, Denison. He is a former military pilot with a prominent Mars and transit Jupiter is on his Sun right now. That makes him a good fighter and do-er with a lot of luck and success today.

THE NATAL CHART
When I see a chart with an unknown hour of birth, I start looking at:

- the elements
- the planets and lights without Ptolemaic aspects
- the tightest aspects

as there are no angular placements to be regarded. There are a lot of observations:

- 70% of the placements were in air and water signs. Air + water = social behaviour (to communicate + to belong)
- Mars didn't make Ptolemaic aspects; the military, the activist, the entrepreneur or sportsman or...the workaholic
- Neptune was the first important (outer) oriental planet; he has an idealistic/ideological orientation or is an artistic person with vision, belief and fantasy. Empathy and compassion are 'ruled' by Neptune
- the Sun was tightly trine Saturn for being a responsible and correct person
- Venus was opposition Pluto and trine Neptune, sesquisquare Uranus, all very tightly. Again, I see possible talent and skills, sensitivity and a desire for alternation (and why not 'live that' as a pilot?).
- Mercury was tightly sextile Jupiter for a bright mind.

All in all this seems to be the profile of a bright, responsible, social and sensitive do-er, someone who will take action. Even without knowing the hour of birth we can see that.

NATAL CHART EXP LANES ACTION
This character is exactly the reason why 'Sully' went back a second time to see if there was any passenger left behind. It is a matter of compassion, responsibility and a strong focus on being courageous (Sun is quindecile Pluto). Accidents and rescues are always a cake baked of ingredients of circumstances, situations and human behaviour. The interaction of the astrological situation and the character of the pilot and HIS situation is being reflected in progressions and transits.

PROGRESSIONS AND TRANSITS
'Sully' is in a transformational period of his life. The progressed Sun changed sign last year. Transit Pluto is square his progressed Sun and trine his progressed Venus (as progressed Sun is also semi sextile Venus). Yesterday Jupiter was conjunct his Sun and trine his Saturn as a sort of blessing his responsible nature and as a support. Jupiter conjunct Sun is an indication for having success. Saturn at the same time was opposition Node and that is reflecting the responsibilities for a group of persons.

Notice that the natal aspect of Sun and Pluto (quindecile) is begin activated by the transit of Pluto with progressed Sun, just like the natal aspect of Venus opposition Pluto.

Later this year Sun will be opposition Saturn, so I wonder if there is a possibility that his career ends or that he will be (partly) blamed for the accident itself. Saturn is tricky and the transit of Jupiter is always fading away too soon...Somehow there will be farewells and goodbyes in his life coming up. As he is in a period of change and owns his own business already, perhaps he will start focusing on his own company.

DEPARTURE AND LANDING (WITH JUPITER

This is the chart for the moment of the landing, about 3 minutes later. The actual ascendant was exactly trine the Jupiter of Sully. I like Jupiter:) Soon after, transit Jupiter is semi square the actual Midheaven and salvation is near.

PS As 'usual' Uranus is elevated in the chart of the moment of the accident. Click on the label 'accident' to find more examples of Uranus position at the time of an accident.
PPS There were no placements in fire signs on the day of the accident and that is indicating that there was energy at any kind of level with strong ups and downs. Astrology chart Hillary Clinton 20:00 hours indeed?

Though it is not official yet, it seems that Hillary Clinton has accepted to be Secretary of State (Minister of Foreign Affairs). As long as neither Obama nor Clinton have confirmed this, the message in the NY Times remains just speculation, But if that is true, the probability that she was born at 20:00 hours grows. That hour was initially supposed to be the correct birth time of Hillary Clinton. Later there were doubts. But using 20:00 hours transit Jupiter would be semi square her natal Midheaven today and transit Uranus inconjunct her progressed Ascendant: positive crucial change would have come into her life. We will just have to wait till Tuesday, when Obama is to present (the names of) his team.

Identical patterns in the charts of M.L.King, Schapelle Corby and Tsar Nicholas II

Today, searching for examples of Sun conjunct Midheaven, I 'discovered' a shared (identical) pattern in 3 charts. Maybe you have read my article about identical aspects that two partners are sharing? A pattern is more than one aspect or placement. Martin Luther King, Schapelle Corby and Tsar Nicholas II share 6 important identical placements or aspects in their charts. In their lives what they share is a period of imprisonment and taking risks, perhaps. And (even Corby) their fate was of importance to the people of their countries.

PATTERNS
The pattern is formed by the prominent planet, an angular placement, a placement on top, AND 3 shared aspects at the time. Scroll down to see the indicated patterns. They are:

- Calling Sun (no aspects within 5 degrees of orb or within sign)
- Sun conjunct Midheaven (orb < 4 degrees)
- Saturn is prominent
- Moon is related to Uranus
- Sun is semisquare Venus
- Mercury is on top of the chart

I think that it is a pattern with the calling Sun on the MC as the key, leading them to playing the starring role in a reality drama.

1. Calling Sun conjunct Midheaven
It means drawing attention at any possible level and a spotlight on the condition and position (the status) that is of crucial importance.
2. Saturn's prominence
Restrictions, limitations and obligations are prominent in their lives. Sometimes because of the law, sometimes because of the protocol, but anyway: they have to deal with barriers.
3. Moon related to Uranus
This aspect combination tells us that they have a need for excitement, change and indolence. So they are not likely to listen to good advice and they will not be stopped because of warnings.
4. Sun semi square Venus
Vanity perhaps? Wanting to be loved and not being able to say no?

Even though they are different kind of people they followed a pattern that eventually made them the star in a public drama. Martin Luther King had enemies and so had Nicholas II. They were identified by their public position and they died because of it.

CORBY
Schapelle could have been sentenced to death, but being a foreigner helped her survive. She drew attention (Sun conjunct MC) and she had an excited or different behavior, too (Moon-Uranus). As she was good looking, they noticed her (Sun-Venus) and she had bad luck (Saturn related to Aries Point). All three of them have enemies and followers. Nicholas, who died a cruel death and was a person of cruel measures himself (Mars-Saturn and Pluto are prominent), is now considered a Saint. Martin Luther King, who did not seem to have lived the life of a saint, is still a worshipped person. And there are many people who believe that Schapelle Corby is innocent and even more who think that 4 years in an Indonesian prison is about enough. She wrote a book about her trial. I think it is a rather cynical reflection of the prominence of Mercury and Jupiter in her natal chart, that she is writing in a foreign jail. Mercury is the symbol of transportation and communications. Jupiter is the international and symbolizes traveling and publications. Neptune is opposition her Sun/Moon midpoint and on the final day of her trial transit Neptune was inconjunct her progressed Sun and MC to express the lost of her life as it was.

The Australian astrologer Helen Hartley published the reading of the chart of Schapelle Corby (born July 10, 1977 at 11:50 AM in Brisbane). I am not sure if that reading helps to liberate Schapelle. You find it here:

PS about Tsar Nicholas II's chart: the prominent Saturn on the IC reflects a mistake of the past that was not forgiven. With Progressed Sun and Midheaven inconjunct Saturn he gave the order to shoot at a crowd of people asking for more civil rights. The Tsar doesn't help us, said the people. And that in fact iniciated the end of his position.
