Astrology chart of Snoop Dogg (dissing Iggy Azalea)

You know that every and any chart should be considered with age, gender, genes, social situation, conditions and culture in mind. Here is the chart of Snoop Dogg, a famous AND notirious rapper. He is the news because he keeps dissing Iggy Azalea (see this link). No surprise, because his Venus inconjunct Eris just loves to create discord!

RAPPER

A rapper is telling his own rhythmic tales. Communications and rhythm is what you need, and it helps to have a difficult background. The astrologic word for communications is Mercury. His Mercury doesn’t make any aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees and that is what I call a ‘calling Mercury’. When you have Mercury calling, you can’t resist to talk, talk and talk, so telling stories is your thingJ.). His Mercury is conjunct Ixion (symbol of ‘the bad guy’) and both are inconjunct Saturn. Mercury and Ixion are at the midpoint Sun/Moon. That increases the motivation to communicate along with a ‘gangsta’ issue (Ixion).

There is also a ‘calling’ Uranus, rising before the Sun. This VIP Uranus is a VIP rebel, like Snoop Dogg is.  But Uranus is also the symbol of rhythm and acceleration.

Mercury (voice, pen), Uranus (rhythm, rebellion) and Ixion (gansta): a recipe for rapping.

We have fast talking here and controversial opinions (making a change by means of communications).

CHARACTERISTICS

Libra Sun, Scorpio Moon and an early Taurus Ascendant immediately points at the axis of earning money. Moon conjunct Venus semi square Pluto and Taurus Ascendant inconjunct Pluto.

There is a pattern indicating issues related to making money and values (Taurus-Scorpio-Libra). There is a Moon conjunct Venus for sense of style and what people like. And the mentioned Venus (ruler Sun) inconjunct Eris links the charming Libra to excessive disagreement. Libra likes a good atmosphere, but Venus inconjunct Eris can't resist to throw apples:).

 

Iggy Azalea

Snoop Dogg was born with 5 placements in air signs AND a calling Mercury, so that there is a strong focus on communications and the use of voice or pen. And he happened to know a lot of rappers!

MIDHEAVEN ROUTING

Midheaven’s ruler Saturn in the 2^nd house and the lack of placements in earth signs (except for the AC) tells us about the need to get material security. Because of ruler 10 in 2 this is related to public (10) appearances (2 is 5 of 10). The most narrow aspect with Midheaven is made by Pallas, the symbol of (repeated) patterns.

Venus-Pluto’s mutual reception finally disposes of Midheaven in Capricorn, ruled by Saturn in Gemini in the 2^nd house. That strongly refers to making money, again.

Now we got a person who is involved in public appearances (television, theatre), eager to make money and very capable and motivated to communicate (fast and furiousJ). As he is surrounded by rappers and living in a  ‘gangsta’ culture, it is more likely that he would become a rapper than an author. 

But how did he become famous?

PROGRESSED MOON-JUPITER

When he became known (release of movie April 1991) transit Jupiter was square his Sun/Moon midpoint with Mercury and Ixion, but so was Saturn. There is a Jupiter-Saturn opposition in the natal chart. Such an aspect adds disadvantages to successes and vice versa. There was a progressed Moon trine natal and later progressed Jupiter in that year. That is one of the best progressions a person can have. As there was much exposure, his rap became a success.

I see none of the usual indications for success (Jupiter-Pluto combinations or Mercury-Jupiter), just Jupiter/Neptune with Midheaven (an audience) and Jupiter/Uranus conjunct Venus (sudden artistic windfall). Maybe you do? 

Perhaps the right moment (Moon-Jupiter in April 1991) was enough for a fast and controversial speaking gangsta man with an audience in the best period for rappers.

The chart of the crash and death of Randy Rhoads

Randy Rhoads was born to be a rock star. The 'calling' Sun was biquintile his Ascendant. He played the guitar and had just begun to play in Ozzy Osbourne's band. On March 19, 1982 he was in a small plane that crashed into flames. The pilot had crashed before and was under the influence of cocaine.

Here is the chart, with transits and progressions for the fatal day:

Midpoint combinations: 3 in 1

Today I wanted to write about the death of Michael Hutchence (INXS), 15 years ago, but a comment on this blog about midpoints made me change my mind. So now I'll tell you about midpoint combinations and about midpoint combinations in the chart of Hutchence at the time of his death.

Here is some of my take on midpoint combinations.
a. Midpoint combinations are combinations of a position (planet/angle) in hard aspect with a midpoint (like Sun/Venus opposition Moon)
b. Midpoint combinations are the combination of all three of the positions involved (like Sun/Moon/Venus)
c. I prefer to use a 1,5 degree orb for the aspect with the midpoint combination
d. Tight aspects of 3 positions are an aspect combination (and often they form a midpoint combination as well).

THE MIXED MIDPOINT COMBINATION
I have written about midpoint combinations before here and on Astromarkt. What I always do is: mixing the three positions. There are more astrologers who do as I do. They generally disregard the subtle differences between, for example, Sun/Moon conjunct Venus and Moon/Venus semi square Sun. I see a Sun/Moon/Venus combination in both cases. I'd note them as Sun/Moon=Venus and Moon/Venus=Sun.
The first combination is important for being motivated by beauty, women, art and pleasure.
The second one highlights a need for luxury and style.
But in the end it is all about love life, entertainment and luxury in heart and soul. That is why my midpoint combinations are 3 in 1.

THE SINGER OF INXS (MICHAEL HUTCHENCE)
I mentioned Michael Hutchence, so why not use his chart as an example. Michael Hutchence was a singer and that was easy to see in his chart. Mercury was calling (no major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees) and angular. This double prominence reflected the importance of communicating (writing, speaking, singing) somehow and anyhow, at any possible level.

Here you see the natal chart with transits and progressions for the final day. Michael Hutchence committed suicide soon after arguments on telephone and possibly under the influence of medication, drugs or alcohol. He suffered from depression and had divorced in the year before his death. In that situation he had alarming transits and progressions.

In astrology the 8th house is the house of crisis (life and death). Inconjunctions refer to loss. Uranus inconjunct Pluto is the symbol of unbalancing dramatic change or revolution with a loss involved. Trines seem nice, but they often point at the easy way out.
When Michael Hutchence died with an exact trine of progressed Sun (ruler 8th natal house) with Neptune and transit Uranus inconjunct Pluto in 8, he also had midpoint combinations.  I counted a total of 8 indications related to what happened, but here I like to mention the midpoint and aspect combinations:

1. Transit Neptune conjunct the progressed midpoint of Ascendant and Midheaven (AC/MC).

The AC/MC midpoint is the corner stone of the chart. Transit Neptune tends to weaken and confuse. With Neptune you can't really get a grip on things.
AC/MC=Neptune points at the importance of fantasy, ideals and dreams, in the natal chart. It is a gift for an artist or a prophet. But a curse in nasty situations.

2. Transit Neptunus conjunct Ascendant and Mercury
This transit Neptune was crossing the Ascendant and Mercury, too, in that same period before his death.  Mercury is for the mind. This transit confused the mind set.
The combination of Mercury, Ascendant and Neptune gives a tendency to be open for influences from outside and makes it easier to be harmed (see COSI*) or to be disappointed. It doesn't matter how you turn the combination that might lead you to the wrong paths in life. That is exactly what happened.

Remember,  if you ever have transit Neptune on Ascendant or Mercury, ask yourself this question: "Is this what I think or feel real or just my wrong concept of reality?" Transits of Neptune are often simply just too negative or too sad. Neptune is the symbol of romance and in those romantic days of the 19th century, Neptune could kill you softly by making a drama of things and drown in tears. *) Whatever you may think of Neptune over Mercury/AC, no astrologer will ever think of it as 'a bright and good idea'. Transits of Neptune are confusing. When your concept of your situation are wrong, you might make wrong plans, too.

Chart of Adele

One of the most successful singers today is Adele, born May 5, 1988 in London. Time to study her chart! Astrotheme.fr says that she was born at 3:02 a.m. and that is the time that I used. Here is the chart, calculated on Astro.com with transits and progressions for October 19, 2012 when Adele gave birth to a son. (The father is charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki.)

What you see when using the tightests aspects, is:

1. Progressed Moon opposition natal Sun (life changing moment)
2. Progressed Sun quindecile natal Moon (close spotlights on family)
3. Progressed Venus quindecile natal MC (a strong wish coming true)
4. Transit Node inconjunct Progressed Mercury (family talk)
5. Transit Pluto close to progressed Midheaven (intense change in the course of life)
This seems to cover the event…

Of course, I first looked for the pattern of artistic talent and the singer in the chart and for the keys to success. Here are some of them:
1. Mercury 'calling' to communicate somehow, anyhow
2. MC 'calling' to have a position at any possible level
3. Jupiter with Sun, Pluto and Uranus for extra self confidence
4. Angular Mars for the drive and energy that it takes to be a pop star.
5. Venus-Uranus opposition for sense of rhythm (frequent in the charts of pop singers)
6. Mercury quindecile Midheaven (an obsessive focus on using voice or pen in the career)
7. Venus quindecile Neptune for a strong focus on romance and…artistic talents
8. Venus trine Ascendant and opposition Moon for the good looks.
9. Jupiter ruler 10, rising before the Sun
10. The combination of Sun in Taurus, Moon in Sagittarius and Aquarius Ascendant for the uniqueness, the positive approach and perseverance (Taurus) that makes Adele who she is.

Chart of Bob Dylan (Medal of Freedom)

Singer and composer Bob Dylan received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, yesterday, for changing the lives of his pubic. It was a special day for him and we can see that in the chart, transits and progressions. Jupiter is inconjunct progressed MC and Pluto trine progressed Venus, for example. But where is the career, where is the talent and were are the successes in the natal chart?

First of all, Jupiter rises before his Sun and...Jupiter is the ruler of the Ascendant. Jupiter helps to bring us success, because Jupiter is the symbol of self confidence, faith and growth. When Jupiter has a prominent place in our chart, we can expect some of the benefits of Jupiter. Jupiter is also positioned between Sun and Moon of Bob Dylan.

The Sun/Moon midpoint in Taurus. As you may read on my site Astromarkt (link to the article) Sun/Moon midpoint in Taurus is:
Motivated by public attention or by the verb ' to have'. Highlighted materialism. The solid and true family member and partner. What it takes to keep them happy? Gifts, of course. Highlighted Taurus means you want and need to EARN something. That makes you 'in' for anything that promises profit. If Taurus is not the sign of your Moon AND Sun, you compromised the difference between your you and your needs by means of money or material.
Public attention is what he got and he earned a lot:).

Neptune is important in the charts of artists, as Neptune gives us inspiration, fantasy and dreams. Neptune is elevated in Bob Dylan's chart. When Jupiter and Neptune join forces, there is often a 'believing and devoted audience': fans and followers. There is also often a 'stage'. Priests and artists share important combinations of Jupiter and Neptune (and Jupiter-Neptune is also important in case of speculations, read this post.

Another key to his career is the position of Venus. Venus doesn't make a major aspect in sign or orb degrees. I name that a 'calling' Venus. It makes Venus important. With such a Venus you simply can't resist the call of entertainment, beauty, art and fun. Diplomats and artists often have an important Venus.

Now we have the Taurus Sun/Moon (public, money) and 3 important planets: Venus, Jupiter and Neptune. Together they are the combination of success (Jupiter) in the arts (Venus-Neptune) and/or of the fairy tale marriage:).  But there is more: Mercury!

Mercury rules the voice. Mercury is the messenger, the communicator and the singing bird. Mercury is angular in Bob Dylan's chart, spot on the Descendant and strong in Gemini. Mercury is also the final dispositor of Midheaven. This important Mercury tells us about the importance of using pen or voice.

TALENT
Most artists have the pattern of artistic talent in their chart (a combination of minor and/or major aspects between Moon, Venus and Neptune with Midheaven and spotlights on the corresponding signs Cancer, Taurus, Libra and Pisces). You can see that on Art&Astrology.
Bob Dylan has the Moon in Taurus and a Libra Midheaven. There is a minor aspect of Neptune with Midheaven (half semi square, 22.5 degrees). Neptune is trine Moon and Moon is still half semi square Venus (73 d minus 51.5 = 21.5).

Buddy Holly was one of the earliest pop idols and born on September 7, 1936. He died, too young, in an air crash. This blog is about his chart, transits and progressions.

MARS+URANUS: Hurry

There are indications for possible accidents in the natal chart. Transits resonated those indications on his final day, when he was in a hurry, on tour, and decided to take a plane instead of a (slow and old) bus. 

Mars and Uranus are the combination of the 'short fuse' and accelerates speed. In the chart of Buddy Holly, Mars and Uranus are prominent. Here is the chart (transits and progressions for the day of his death):

1. Mars

Mars rises before his Sun, is in the 8th house and rules the 4th house.

Mars is inconjunct Saturn (ruler 1)

2. Uranus is 'calling' (not making major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees).

Uranus is square Mars/Pluto.

The importance of Mars and Uranus qualifies the importance of being in a hurry.

MARS-SATURN

A besides about Mars-Saturn: I recently 'survived' transit Saturn inconjunct Progressed Mars. My Mars is 'calling' (my progressed Mars is not). It have been days of a tetanus injection and antibiotics because of infection, and I have seen the doctor more than once, but I didn't die (obviously:). More important: nobody in my family died. Mars and Saturn are trine in my chart (out of sign). They are not related to the 4th or 8th house. 

I quote Art&Astrology (blog about the talent in the chart):

On the day of his death, transit Saturn was sesquisquare his Mars (frustrating end of energy) and at the moment of the crash transit Uranus was 75 degrees from his midheaven (a shock), with transit Neptune septile Sun and biquintile Moon (perhaps unconsciousness). These are not uncommon aspects. But in HIS chart Mars happened to be an important symbol of death, being activated too soon.

DEATH

Here above is the chart of Buddy Holly, with transits and progressions for the final day. There are a number of tight aspects. Some are an indication of what happened. We see Mars-Saturn (dead end), 8th house (life and death) and 4th house. Three of those tight aspects are related to the 8th house. Two of them to the 4th house. Mars-Saturn is already indicating a possible end of energy. The combination of Pluto, Mars and Saturn shows the danger of death. There are 4 aspects between planets, lights or objects making aspects in the natal chart, too. Those are strong aspects.

Big events take at leats 3 or more important transits and progressions. Accidents are most often complicated and caused by more than 1 simple mistake or failure. As you see, it takes a lot of transits and progressions to mark the end of the life of a 22 year old artist...And there are at least 4 strong indications of danger. The 3 inconjunctions complete the picture of loss. Here is the list.

• Transit Neptune is semi sextile Progressed Sun and 15 degrees from Progressed Midheaven. In the natal chart Neptune is in the 8th house of life and death and Neptune is conjunct Sun (also in the 8th house
• Transit Chiron is square Progressed Midheaven
• Transit Saturn is within 1 degree orb inconjunct Progressed Ascendant and transit Pluto is inconjunct Ascendant (orb 17 minutes). The midpoint of Saturn and Pluto is square Progressed Ascendant
• Transit Jupiter is inconjunct IC (cusp 4th house). Jupiter rules the 12th house of undoing and is the symbol of traveling. In the natal chart Jupiter is semi square Midheaven.
• Transit Uranus is 75 degrees from natal Midheaven. Uranus is in the 4th house (natal)
• Progressed Sun is semi square Progressed Midheaven. Sun rules the 8th house. In the natal chart Sun is semi square Midheaven
• Transit Pluto is on the midpoint Mars/Saturn and in the 8th house.
• And last but not least:Transit Saturn is sesquisquare natal Mars (in the 8th house). Mars is inconjunct Saturn in the natal chart

PHOLUS

One more thing: Pholus is on the Ascendant in the natal chart and Pholus is novile the Midheaven. The midpoint AC/MC is semi square Pholus. Pholus is the symbol of the turning point. He had a turbulent and short life. But he is also a legend. On Astromarkt I wrote about AC/MC with Pholus:

The importance of polls, looking back and retrospective results

He had a contract in 1956 (transit Neptune conjunct Midheaven and Progressed Sun soon conjunct Venus, progressed Midheaven square Mars, Progressed Ascendant inconjunct Mars and almost opposition Uranus). The prominent Mars and Uranus were 'hit', just like when he died on tour in 1959. Here is the chart, transits and progressions of Buddy Holly for January 1956.

Elvis Presley, chart of life and death

On August 16, 1977 Elvis Presley died. It was with transit Saturn inconjunct progressed Ascendant and transit Neptune conjunct natal Ascendant. Progressed Sun - the sun had just recently changed sign!- had been quindecile natal Neptune and conjunct progressed Saturn. There is more (see the post, link below) but you may notice a lot of Saturn and Neptune already. Saturn-Neptune is the combination of illnesses.

Let us talk about Elvis Presley's talent. Quoting myself:

The pattern of talent is in the Moon in Pisces and ruler Neptune sesquisquare Venus, with Venus rocking with Uranus (square). Venus-Uranus-Neptune combinations are frequent in the charts of pop singers. How to read this? A hype in popularity? Sense of rhythm and modern art? Does it matter? Because it is so easy to see that this is a popular man! Moon is 'calling', Jupiter rises before the Sun and Neptune is elevated. Moon with Jupiter and Neptune just needs the public and vice versa. The small trine of Jupiter and Neptune with the Sun points at the 'devoted audience'. This small trine is a prominent small trine because of the positions of Jupiter and Neptune. Other indications for fame and money are Venus quintile Jupiter and opposition Pluto with Jupiter 157.5 Venus/Pluto. Here is the chart:

Willy de Ville (Mink de Ville) August 6, 2009

I am a fan of Mink de Ville's Coup de Grace and that is why it disturbed me that when the singer, Willy de Ville, died on August 6, 2009 there was no day of birth so that I couldn't really mention it on a blog like this. Now Wikipedia mentions August 25, 1950 and that explains my admiration. It is with his Sun opposition my Jupiter...Here is his chart with transits and progressions for the day that he died.

The pattern of artistic talent is as follows: Moon opposition Venus and trine Neptune, Venus sextile Neptune. As there is no hour of birth, that is all. When he died it was with the progressed Sun about to change sign to Scorpio. When a progressed Sun changes sign, your life(style) changes and sometimes people die when their progressed Sun moves to another sign. He also had transit Saturn square progressed Mars (the 'dead end' aspect). 

Willy de Ville had pancreas cancer.

One of his most appreciated songs is 'Love and emotion'. Moon opposition Venus is the aspect of love and emotion. I also like 'Just give me one good reason' and Moon in Aquarius (the all too reasonable sign for loving emotions).

Life of Amy Winehouse and astrology

Amy Winehouse died and a beautiful voice has gone. All we know is her day and place of birth and that is a limitation. There are so many more persons born on her birthday (for example Frostee Rucker). They are not all singing or using drugs and they didn't all die this week. Still, we can see the potential of artistic talent in the chart. Here is more about the most important moments in her career and life. And of course there is also more about the chart of her day of birht. Because the question is: how does this chart (partly) show these major events, if you consider the fact that she was a woman on stage in a world full of drugs? It is fragmental because of the missing hour of birth but in short: the passionate and driven person, living the blues to the max, is in Venus and Mars rising before the Sun, the 'calling' Saturn in Scorpio. Neil Diamond and the kiss

After all of those heavy criminal cases it is time for a less serious post. I want to talk about Neil Diamond's kiss and talent (and kissing talent?). The minor aspect between Venus and Neptune (105 degrees) means that underneath there is romance, always. On June 30, with Transit Neptune inconjunct progressed Midheaven a long lasting kiss with a fan demonstrated this romance, but a little out of balance (Neptune is for romance, inconjunctions lack balance). The public didn't seem to like it much (some were shocked). Neptune's inconjunctions always include negative response. And of course there is more in the chart of Neil Diamond today. 

Women and love happen to be part of the deal today, when you look at the transits and progressions.

There is the Moon (symbol of needs, women and experiences).

1. With Pluto conjunct the Moon maybe there was a strong need or intense experience:)

2. Transit Node inconjunct Progressed Moon was exact and 

3. still sextile Uranus for a public adventure. 

I wonder who the woman was (and about her chart). Anyway, it was time for something new and it drew attention. Was it real? Perhaps. Because there is also Venus! The Progressed Ascendant trine Progressed Venus might just introduce beauty, women and love...

When there is a trine between Ascendant and Venus in the natal chart, men are attractive to women (and women are most often charming or beautiful). When the trine is in the progressed chart, it is a period of meeting nice and good looking people. In that period you are likely even more attractive and popular than ever...And he is already popular (Moon exactly trine Jupiter and Venus square Ascendant, Venus-Jupiter-Midheaven and the 'cool' Venus and Moon in Capricorn.

Pholus, Quaoar and The Beatles

The Beatles were a turning point in the history of music and they shaped a new reality in the business of entertainment. Maybe that is why Pholus and Quaoar are so important in the charts of the main songwriters of the group.

PHOLUS
Pholus seems to be the symbol of the turning point, a moment in life to remember. John Lennon and Paul McCartney both lost their mother when they were teenagers. That is something that they share. Their charts have an A-rating in Astrodatank and that is not an AA-rated chart, but if they are correct, these are the similarities related to Pholus, the lost of their mother and the impact of their careers in music.
Pholus is in the 4th house (also a house related to a parent) of Paul McCartney.
Pholus is on top of John Lennon’s chart (in the 10th house, a parental house), semi square AC/MC and square natal Sun: his life is strongly and possibly in a challenging way, connected to the symbol of Pholus and what this asteroid is representing.

Progressed ruler 1 and 10 (Mercury) was inconjunct Pholus when Lennon’s mother died.
Transit Pholus was sesquisqare progressed AC/MC of McCartney when his mother died.
This is marking a crucial turning point.

QUAOAR
Quaoar is the symbol of shaping and creating new worlds and realities. It is a creative force in the world of arts. Paul is more the Quaoar-guy☺ His Sun is exactly square Quaoar. In this chart, his Quaoar is conjunct the Ascendant and square Midheaven and Sun. The concept of creations is vital in this chart.  Another chart of Paul (for 2.00 a.m.) connects the Moon with Neptune and Midheaven.
(In the chart of John Lennon, Quaoar is conjunct Neptune and half semi square Venus, adding the concept of ‘ new’ and ‘ change’ to his artistic capabilities).

THE MATCH BETWEEN THE MASTERS
Paul and John cooperated with George and Ringo and they were the major stars of the group. Both have an important Sun (symbol of the star) and perhaps that worked as having two captains on a ship. Did they match?

OBSERVATIONS AND ONE MORE PHOLUS...
The Suns match, but the Moonsigns don’t. There is a quindecile (165 degree) beteen the Moons, reflecting a strong focus on each other’s experiences, youth, mothers and habits. They were strongly attracted to each other but there was a problem, perhaps because of the intensity of the relationship, perhaps because it looked like being family, too much. There is a 105-degree difference between their Venus, so even though the signs matched, there might have been some frustrating differences in tastes and preferences. In fact: the symbols of the female influence and sense of style and beauty (Moon and Venus) have tense aspects. That is perhaps illustrating the later conflict about Yoko Ono and the style of the band.

However: they worked well together. Mars in 3 Leo is sextile Mars in 3 Libra: they cooperated. But, the Leo Mars of Paul is in opposition with the Aquarian Moon of John, so here is a chance for ‘domestic quarrels’.

John’s Neptune is square the natal Sun of Paul. That is illustrating that someone didn’t see the other, as he really was, a sort of mistaken identity, like with an idol.

CONCLUSIONS
So even though the Sun signs matched, and though they cooperated well, there were enough artistic reasons to split, in spite of the strong focus on each other as a person. It is been said that Yoko Ono was the one who stood between John and Paul and the conflicts between the Moons and Venus indicate that women were indeed a problem in their relationship.
It doesn’t surprise me much that Yoko Ono’s Pholus is exactly on the IC, square the Ascendant in the 9th degree of Capricorn (same pattern as John has), quindecile the Midheaven of Paul McCartney and less than 2 degrees from the MC of John Lennon. Pholus, the issue of the turning point, joined their lives.
