Progressed Moon Out of Bounds: special periods?

Does the Out of Bounds declination of the progressed Moon signify a period of successes or is the OOB progressed Moon a risk? To answer this question I looked at the charts of Lance Armstrong, Dominique Strauss Kahn, Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, JK Rowling and Jean-Marie le Pen. I came to the conclusion that the four years before reaching the highest degree, the progressed Out of Bounds Moon signals an exceptional period of growth (and alienation), while the first time after reaching the top position, there seems to be a danger of decay.
When the progressed Moon was OOB and reaches the lowest position later, there is a period of drawing back (a pause).

You can find the declinations of the Progressed Moon in the Special Charts of Astro.com (select Ebertin Life Diagram Progressed Declination). A position is Out of Bounds when it reaches a declination degree of  23° 26' 14.675″ (23° 26′ 16″) north of the Equator or  23° 26' 14.440 South.

For a better view of the graphics:
CTR + Tap or click in the chart, open new window and maximize the size!

My examples are:

1. LANCE ARMSTRONG
Lance Armstrong had a very successful period after his illness and later he lost it all…Progressions and transits cooperated with the declination of the progressed Moon.
-       In October of 1996 he found out that he had cancer. This was with progressed Moon on 14d36N, almost parallel Pluto. From that moment on the Moon moved to zero degrees in 1999.
-       The Moon moved upwards later, and in 2002 the progressed Moon was again parallel Pluto.
-       Between 2005 and 2008 there was a progressed OOB Moon S. In 2006/2007 the progressed Moon reached the highest level. That was when he quit biking and had had good years (think of Livestrong). In 2008 he had his comeback.
-       In 2012,when he was 40, the progressed Moon had again become parallel with Pluto and the ‘demasqué’ began. He lost all his titels.
Apparently the Moon-Pluto parallel mirrors extreme experiences and the OOB Moon S mirror his best years (but, ….only for outsiders). If life would repeat itself, then from 2017 on better days are coming for Armstrong.

In the 4 years before reaching the top level of the OOB Moon (2002-2006) he was popular, rich and happy as far as we could see.

2. DSK
Dominique Strauss Kahn had a very high and powerful position between 2007 and 2011. The Moon moved ‘up’ since 2007. Between2009 and 2014 the progressed Moon was OOB. On the day of his arrest in 2011 the progressed Moon in the 6th degree of Cancer (28d8N) moved down again and right now, the progressed Moon is ‘in bounds’ again. Just like in the Lance Armstrong case, the 4 years before the top level of declination of the progressed Moon seem to the most prosperous of them all.

3. HILLARY
Hillary Clinton wants to be the next president in 2016. That is when her progressed Moon is at a low degree of declination, South. During the Lewinsky affair, when she was First Lady, she had the OOB progressed Moon on a high degree South.
It is still uncertain if she will ever have such a position again. But the transits and progressions of November 2016 are:
1.    Transit Jupiter square midpoint Sun/Moon
2.    Transit Jupiter square progressed Sun
3.   Progressed Sun conjunct natal Sun/Mooon
4.   Transit Jupiter square her Mercury
5.   Progressed Sun conjunct Mercury
3x Jupiter, the planet of successes.

So we will have to wait and see who wins: Jupiter or the declination of the progressed Moon.

4. TRUMP
Donald Trump’s progressed Moon is OOB and will be over the top in November 2016. Some of his party members think he is over the top already:). Meanwhile, he is doing well in the polls.

5. JK ROWLING
J.K. Rowling invented Harry Potter in 1990. In 1997, 4 years before the top level of the OOB progressed Moon, she found a publisher.  (Note: don’t use the ASC and MC positions as this is a guess chart).

6. LE PEN
Jean-Marie le Pen was thrown out of his own party now that the progressed Moon is close to zero degrees in declination.

7. JFK
John F. Kennedy was murdered on  November 22, 1963. That was when the progressed OOB Moon was not yet at the highest possible level, but in the 25th degree (he was born with a Moon in the 1ste degree N). So, he was in his best years when someone ended his life suddenly, with transit Uranus conjunct progressed Midheaven.

! Many VIPs never had an OOB Moon (like Bono, Bill Cosby, Cliff Richard) and ever so many unknown people DO have OOB Progressed Moons.

8. MORE EXAMPLES
Read the story of Kurt Cobain, who died only 4 months after the moment that the progressed OOB Moon reached a 27d48 top level.
Other examples of Steven Forrest: Yuri Gagarin (astronaut, progressed Moon OOB in space), Martin Luther King…

CONCLUSION
Progressed Moon OOB can represent a temporary top level that may be lost when the Moon goes on her way down again, especially when difficult aspects in the progressed chart, by transit or in the natal chart indicate this possibility. Every progressed OOB Moon seems to lift your social level with a number of risks. But don’t you worry: you can rise high and fall deep without an OOB Moon as wellJ! The progressed Moon OOB is one of more indications that it takes to mirror a special period and has to be considered with the circumstances and the natal and progressed chart in mind.  The positive side of the progressed Moon OOB is the chance to reach above yourself and your situation. The negative side is alienation. The astronaut in space is a nice example of that.

The 4 years before the top level of the OOB Moon seem to be the best social years, while the 1ste year after is the most vulnerable year. DSK was arrested, Kurt Cobain died, JK Rowling wrote on and on until the Moon was at almost zero degrees. Then she paused…

The progressed OOB Moon is not in control. John F. Kennedy died in the best years of his life. Maybe because he went ‘too far’ in the eyes of his enemies?

And how about Jean-Marie le Pen’s zero degree Progressed Moon? Maybe that is food for the next post!

Question: ever experienced an OOB Progressed Moon? And what happened? Feel free to share your examples.

PS To complete this study, I’ll have to check examples with top level Progressed Moon IN Bounds periods to see if there is a similar effect…

Mothers in the chart (and a poll)

Mothers and fathers are parents. That is why Saturn is a gender neutral symbol for the persons who were responsible for you and whom you see as old (elderly) and restrictive. The Sun is usually the symbol of the father (because he is outside the house, in the sunlight) and the Moon was always related to the person who took care of you. The Moon is the symbol of the motherly figure who educated you and showed you what and how to do. For some persons, the Moon is not the biological mother. The Moon could be a nanny or a foster mother, or even a man (yes, why not?), just like the central figure in your life (the Sun) might be your mother...The Moon shows the nature of your early  memories. When you have emotional or behavioral problems, look for the Moon. It is the place where psychologist would search, too.

There is a dwarf planet with premised motherly qualities. It's Ceres. Ceres is the symbol of nutrition. Ceres is the symbol of the dynasty and the genes (hereditary). Ceres is about seeds and grain, agriculture. See:
http://astromarkt.net/ceres-in-astrology.html So perhaps your mother or your motherhood is represented by Ceres in your chart.
She is more like a queen, than the Moon is. I don't think that she washes, cleans or changes vipers. She is the head of the kitchen and she holds the keys to the closets with the candy.
In an ancient household, Ceres would be the boss and the Moon would do what was needed on an every day basis.

It would be a limitation to say that in your chart mother is Moon or mother is Ceres.
As your mother can be your best friend, your supporter, the nail on your coffin or the person you love or hate most, any symbol in the chart could be your mother's symbol.

Motherday seems to have had an antique start in the days of worshipping Rhea (mother of Zeus). Part of Rhea’s personality can be attributed to the mythes of Pandora, Cybella (see picture) or …Ceres. But we can not, I repeat NOT, copy the way that our ancestors were celebrating Rhea’s day, because mother wouldn’t like it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhea_(mythology

Before I continue and ask you a question about your idea of synastry charts between parent and child, I wish you a pleasant Mothers Day and here are the flowers for all women and men who educate and nurture children:

NASTY SYNASTRY AND GIVING BIRTH
I found that the synastry charts of mothers and their children often have a painful component, like for example Mars on the Ascendant or heavy transits of Pluto and Saturn. At the moment of giving birth there is often pain, anxiety, hard labor... So if you and your mother or you and your child have such a difficult aspect between you, think of the day of birth. We can't say that because of a painful moment of birth there will be a nasty relationship for the rest of your life, can we? The actual moments of starting a life and giving birth have the same chart. The chart of one person's birth mirror the transits for another person's moment of delivery. Maybe that is why the memory of the pain usually vanishes at the glance of the little baby born. But does that moment have an effect on the relationship with the mother or father, I wonder?  I have examples in the links to help you to help me find the answer to the question if situation on the day of giving birth is the upbeat to the later relationship between parents and a child.

Synastry charts of parents and their children ARE the charts of parents and the transits of the moment that their child was born. Do they color their relationship for ever?

Lunar effect, Pholus synastry and Chiron-Ascendant

Scientists have studied the effect of the full moon and they found that there were less births in the weekends:). The old belief that there are more children born when the moon is full, has been proven wrong. In our days, children are born between 9 and 5 from Monday to Friday, if the doctors had it their way. It is more convenient and it can be done without harming the mother or the child, so why not. But now I will never know if there would be a natural tendency for more births at Full Moon (not all, just some more). Maybe it is not so, not even in the middle of the jungle without electricity or doctors.

Who cares about the position of the moon, anyway, these days?
I remember that I was on the road at night. I parked and watched a partial lunar eclipse (a cloud hanging before the moon) and I noticed that nobody noticed. They were eating, drinking, checking tires, walking dogs, going to the toilets...but nobody was staring at the sky or pointing at the moon to tell their children about it. They didn't know or didn't care. I notice the full moon when I can't sleep at night, in spite of curtains, and I know of more people who 'notice' but maybe I and those people are wiped out immediately when it comes to statistics, who knows? Time for a poll!
There is no lunar effect for births and no more murders with full moon...Another myth gone...(but how about wolves, uh?)...Native Americans named the full moon in January 'Wolf moon' because the wolves howled (of hunger). But not in February, I wonder? Questions, questions...

PHOLUS SYNASTRY CASE
Someone asked me about Pholus - Sun in synastry. The question was: who has the Pholus 'effect' on who when one person's Pholus is conjunct the Sun of the other person.
On Astromarkt I wrote about that:

Pholus in synastry: the strong influence of someone, changing your life in a direct way.

My late sister's Sun was square my Pholus. What does it mean? She was too close to tell you this. There is no 'helicopter view', especially because she died age 49 and thinking about her still hurts. But I know that it means that on and around the day of her birth the Sun was square my Pholus and that was so every one of her birthdays. I was almost 3 years old and I think that it was quite a surpise for me, having a sister. A sudden 'freed' bubble?:)

Last solar transit (you know, the daily motion of the Sun) conjunct my Pholus: that was the day that I died my hair (red). Transit Pholus will be on my Midheaven soon enough to tell you all about what popped out of the bottle (or not). There is less popping out of the pen (or keyboard) lately. Sorry for that (and I think it will be better when Saturn moved to Scorpio). If you want more Astropost, then follow Astropost on Twitter for short messages that might interest you.

CHIRON-ASCENDANT
Speaking of effect: 70% of the answers in the poll about Chiron conjunct Ascendant showed an effect of this transit. 30% not. Is that proof?:) Thank you for giving your answer!

Moon in Virgo opposition my Ascendant

There is a difficult connection with the internet today, so I make it short and quick and I won't add a picture of a bar of soap...
I just had to tell about what happened with Moon in Virgo on my Descendant. I met a rather silly and dirty lady with red blooded holes in her legs. She insisted to tell me all about those legs in a language that I hardly understood. I said that I didn't quite understand her and expected her to move on, but...heard her say that she didn't mind if I understood her, because she would tell me anyway. It was about a hotel refusing her because of the legs and a doctor who was to see her at 3 pm. My bus arrived and I started to move. She said goodbye and took my hand and started shaking! Then I realised that she had just touched the shorts that covered her wounds and had pointed at a deep red and orange hole in her leg. I don't know if she was just silly or if it was on purpose, but I know that I reacted very Moon in Virgo-like. Moon is need. Virgo is hygiene. Descendant =because of other folks. I was grateful for the desinfective liquid hand soap that happened to be in my bag and I hope that I removed all of the bacteria. Next Moon in Virgo I won't shake hands and try not to be polite...Coincidence? Maybe it was, but it was so much in line with Virgo that it just had to be told.

Progressed Moon through the houses

The progressed Moon has her own place in the progressed chart, but seems to move through the houses of the natal chart (the chart of birth). The progressed Moon is the position of the Moon on the xth day after birth, valid for the xth year after birth. Nothing moves faster than the progressed Moon. She is the symbol of experiences, events and emotions passing bye. Her aspects and sign and the movement through the chart shows us what we care about now. Here are some ideas about interpreting the progressed Moon in the houses of the birth chart. You can find the position of your progressed Moon on astro.com (but you need to know what time you were born!).

Progressed Moonsigns and body care

The progressed chart is the chart for the xth day after birth, valid for the xth year after birth. This month January 2010 Astropost.blogspot.com is dedicated to the progressed chart! And this week is about the progressed Moon, the progressed Moonsign, the aspects of the progressed Moon and more...Use the label 'progression' to see more about progressons. For more about the natal (birth) moon in sign, just search this blog (tool on the left) for your sign. You can calculate the progressed Moon on Astro.com, but you need to know your hour of birth!

Today is about the changing sign of the progressed Moon. When the progressed Moon changes sign, you might feel your ‘mood’ changing and some parts of your body need more care than before. Don't take it too seriously, however...:) It is ancient stuff. My grandfather used to carry a guide with him, using the info in the kitchen and in the garden. His diet was according the names of the days of the week (Monday for Moon and white food, Wednesday for Mercury and yellow food, etc. ). He believed that on the days that the actual moon is in a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces), plants -and people!- like to have water more than on other  days and that it was better to start a diet on the first day of Full Moon.

Progressed Moon to Aries
Time to take care for your eyes, hair and brains and to avoid chemical treatments (like dying hair). You react stronger now. Avoid watching screens (like tele and computerscreens) or your eyes will hurt. Maybe it is time for a change of diet and time to have more red coloured food (like tomatoes, strawberries and meat or red wine) for the next two years.

(I have Progressed Moon in the 14th of Aries now and I really have a problem with screens and glasses right now, in spite of ‘computer glasses’.).

Progressed Moon to Taurus
Mouth, throat and jaws are more sensitive now. Don’t shout. Maybe you should eat more green food and vegetables.

Progressed Moon to Gemini
Time for a fresh walk outside, moving your arms (but take care not to catch a cold). Have more yellow food (except for the fat), like corn and lemon juice.

Progressed Moon to Cancer
Don’t overeat yourself or harm your stomack and eat white or neutral coloured food. Or have some lobster.

Progressed Moon to Leo
Don’t work to hard and safe your back! Eat sunny food like oranges, eggs and carrots more. And if you have to train anything, try not to become a party animal or you have to do a diet with Moon in Virgo...

Progressed Moon to Virgo
The best things to do now: having a bath, listening to good music and sigh a bit. That is all. Eat pure and sober, have cheese instead of meat and keep cool.
Progressed Moon to Libra
Have a lot of herbal and green tea or water to take care of your kidneys. Vegetables are OK! Perhaps you might do some training to keep your balance.

Progressed Moon to Scorpio
The good thing about this move is that alcohol is OK now (except for AA-members, of course). Sex is better than ever, too. You can eat about anything now, but you might like spicy food more...On the other side it seems that there is a risk of moulds and that you need to take better care of the excretory and sex organs. .

Progressed Moon to Sagittarius
Mind your sciatica (the nerve from hip to foot) and avoid stairs and alcohol now. You like to travel more than usual. If you don't have money to travel, try to have foreign food. However, avoid exuberance or you will have hard times with Moon in Capricorn. Sagittarius needs fresh air, so why not have more picknicks and barbecues on a sunny day?

Progressed Moon to Capricorn
Your bones and knees need to be taken care of, so don’t ‘jog’ and swim instead. If your knees hurt because you gained weight with Moon in Sagittarius, now is the time to learn how to control yourself. Less is more! Dark food and wearing onyx will help you on the way.

Progressed Moon to Aquarius
High heals are bad for you now! And watch your ankles or train them carefully. You are 'in' for experiments now, so this is the perfect period to try new recipes and combinations.

Progressed Moon to Pisces
When your P Moon moves to Pisces the pedicure is happy! (I started making appointments with a pedicure with P Moon in Pisces) Please take in mind that the effect of medication, alcohol and drugs is much stronger with Moon in Pisces. Eat more fish with Moon in Pisces!

Elton John's hours of birth and parenthood

The Astrodienst 2:00 a.m. chart for Elton John
On the first day of Xmas Elton John became the father of a little boy, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John. Here is the DD-rated Astrodatabank chart of Elton John with the transits of Xmas day. The 2:00 a.m. chart is very uncertain. That is why I also included the 16.00 hour (4 pm) progressed chart and transits with progressed Ceres exactly square progressed Midheaven. Also see the16.00 (4 p.m.) birth chart reading on Art&Astrology, with more about the artist in the chart of Elton John. You may choose the right one!;)
(! The transits of the day of birth are reflecting the synastry between the charts of father and son as they are the position in the birth chart of the baby!)

We see transit Pluto inconjunct natal Sun and Nodes of Elton John and that means a lot of stress (some changes have a price…:)...The birth might change Elton John's lifestyle more than he expected and has great impact.  Another observation is about Saturn. Saturn is important for the three of them. Saturn rises before Zachary’s Sun.
The Saturn of Elton is square the Sun of David Furnish (born 25 October 1962). David's Saturn is sextile the Sun and square the Moon of Elton. One of the meanings of Saturn is parents, and parenthood (including duties, responsibilities and the reward for it: respect).

If you wonder why they wanted to raise a child anyway: Elton John has Ceres rising before the Sun. David Furnish has the Moon rising before the Sun. This position of Moon and Ceres shows a certain orientation. Ceres and the Moon are important metaphores for motherhood, genes, care and nutrition. Ceres is exactly square Midheaven in the progressed chart for 4.00 p.m. Here it is:

The match between Prince William and Kate Middleton

Prince William and Kate Middleton (soon Princess Catherine, I presume) share a strong Moon in Cancer. I quote myself:

When lovers have the same position of the Moon, they feel close and comfortable. Friends often have the same Moonsign. It makes you feel as if you belong together ('We are family').
This Moon might be important for keeping them together, as their Sunsigns don't match and their Mars are conjunct (for a lot of fire, and risk of quarrel). There is a lucky synastry aspect: Venus tredecile (108d) Venus. That means that although their preferences don't match (as the Venus signs don't match) they will find creative ways to settle things because of love. And that is what matters most when you want to get married...Continue for the links and for the chart drawing of Prince William with the transits of the day of birth of Kate Middeton.

Moon in same sign: what to share?

One year ago I wrote about friends and couples (or parents and children) with the Moon in the same sign of the zodiac. How  Here is the link: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/09/couples-with-same-moonsign.html
And here is some of the (refreshed) text about possible things to do together when you have the same moon sign:).

 WHEN YOU BOTH HAVE....
Moon in Aries: action together (for example: do sport together, working together) and sometimes: arguing together and trying to make it first to the door:)

With Moon conjunct Moon in Taurus it may take a long time to end up like fighting bulls. (Such a nice couple, with Moon conjunct Moon in Taurus, trying recipes, eating together, going to an auction ...but offended so soon).

Moon in Gemini: dancing or shopping together, taking a walk or short trip, having a good discussion and... dressing up identical as if you were twins.

Moon in Cancer: family life, just being together in the same house, collecting photos or objects, always visiting family members and the children never far away or ...taking care of each other's mother/children.

Moon in Leo: showing off together, dramatic acts, having a party, glamour and glitter in the house... Wow, this couple with Moon conjunct Moon in Leo is drawing attention!

Moon in Virgo: helping and serving each other or others, cleaning the house together, buying shoes and bags together. You notice every little thing and that is why you are of perfect use in practical processes such as photography. What about having a bath or a sauna day together?

Moon in Libra: looking nice and charming, doing a 'beauty day' together, the house as a style icon...But what to choose? Moon in Libra just cannot decide. Maybe two of them find the balance? Anyway, they just NEED each others company.

Moon in Scorpio: looking bold and brave together, sharing dangerous experiences. They need challenges and are a daring couple. Don't ever challenge them!:)

Moon in Sagittarius: acting positive and cheerful, driving (fast) or traveling together, learning a language together, dreaming of a house abroad...When things are getting wrong you get nervous and then we see both of you running around.

Moon in Capricorn: sharing ambitions and the need to be economic and classical….or…Capricorn Moon friends might share things in order to be economic.

Moon in Aquarius: two individualist together will do their own thing in the same room, enjoying cars, techniques, electronics and the latest new devices or just telling funny tales.

Pisces Moon: romance, candle light, the same need to hide away in the strictly private twilight zone or to travel far far away, swimming in the moonlight, loving the same movie...

Really, there is a lot that people with the same moon sign can enjoy together. Many many more than the examples that you see here.
