Robert Durst's day of birth and the confession

Robert Durst, a billion-dollar real estate man, was arrested on March 14 2015, after speaking to himself (in a microphone) saying that he 'of course killed them all'. That was during an interview related to a six-part documentary titled 'The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Dur'. 'Deaths' refers to the death of his wife, friend and neighbor. Here is the chart of the day of birth (April 12, 1943). I like to point at the most narrow aspect on that day: 

a. the tight square between Sun and Pholus (the symbol of point of no return and shooting your own feet) 
b. Mercury inconjunct Neptune (one of the 'suspicious aspects'; Mercury-Neptune is the combination of confusing testimonies and statements, among others) 
c. Venus square Mars, for passion.

His Mars is rising before the sun for enterprise, action and aggression, adding importance to Venus square Mars, fueling the passion and the drive to act. Pluto is Out of Bounds (intensity) and Saturn is 'calling' (no aspects in 5 d orb or in sign for ambition at any possible level), so that Mars, Saturn and Pluto are the VIP planets. The combination of Mars, Saturn and Pluto issues the theme of unnatural death as an important theme in life. 

The transits and progressions are for the day that his wife disappeared (January 31, 1982). What you see is:
- the progressed Sun changing sign (changing life style) and
- transit Saturn opposition Sun (end of a period related to other persons, the nasty side of life) and 
- on January 31, 1982 Saturn was exactly at the midpoint Mars/Pluto
- the Yod produced by transit Neptune and Pluto inconjunct natal Venus (mystery related to a woman, love after death) . 
- Because of the natal square between Venus and Mars, the same transit of Neptune and Pluto is in harmonious aspect with Mars. 

The documentary came in a period shortly after the change of his sign of his progressed Sun (changing life style). At the time of his arrest (March 14) the dangerous Mars, Saturn and Pluto combination pops up like this:
1. Transit Saturn sesquisquare progressed Mars
2. Transit Saturn trine Pluto
Also Pholus was inconjunct Venus and sextile Mars, hitting the important Venus-Mars square. Also: Mars square Jupiter and Uranus quindecile Neptune. It takes more than 2 transits and progressions for an important day. Here (without knowing the positions of Moon, Midheaven or Ascendant) we already have 6 very tight minor and major aspects. They show a combination of danger (Saturn-Mars-Pluto), a subconscious obsession (Uranus-Neptune), success (Mars-Jupiter) and a turning point after shooting his own feet related to the fiery passions that came first in his life (Pholus-Venus-Mars).

There is no other known person born on the same day as Robert Durst. The unknown others probably never killed 3 persons or got arrested for such a crime. That is because the backgrounds of the charts are important (social-economic position, gender, genes, circumstances) and perhaps Mr Durst has a psychiatric problem that highlights the worst case scenario in this chart. Charts are no tool for judgement. If you were born on that day, take care what you say or sign and try to avoid to force yourself into a 'point of no return', control your anger and tendency to 'do something about it'. It is a lot of do's and don't's...

He has been arrested. But what if he never talked to himself? And did he kill all of them, like he told himself? How did he get away with murder, before? Mercury-Neptune quincunxes tend to remain confusing.

Second chance posts part 4: Mercury-Neptune and Friedmans

Looking back at earlier posts I noticed that some of them just haven't been noticed, yet. Today these posts get another chance. Of course, not without editing them. 

Today's second chance post is about 'Capturing the Friedmans', a documentary about a peculiar child's abuse case.

CAPTURING THE FRIEDMANS

Capturing the Friedmans, is a documentary that I saw yesterday. Arnold Friedman (born 20th March 1931, see the documentary about his birthday and the stone on his grave) and his son Jesse were convicted in a very peculiair childs'abuse case. 

Why peculiar? 

Hypnotism by psychologers and a very influencing method of interrogation by the police contributed to a pandemonium of tales about sex orgies after the day in 1984 that the police found child pornography in the house of Arnold Friedman. 

His son Jesse was suppposed to be assisting his father in the evil. 

But:

There was no fysical evidence at all and some of the statements were clearly false!  Still, they were convicted after pleading guilty in order to prevent a sentence of life in prison. Later, Arnold Friedman killed himself in jail. He presumably killed himself, so that his son would get a sum of money to start all over again when he got out of jail and the best part of his life was over). 

The astrology

a. the transits and progressions

- In 1995, the year of the death of Arnold Friedman, Solar Arc Mars opposed his natal Sun. It is the symbol of injury.
- In 1984, transit Neptune squared Arnold Friedman's natal Sun. That is an indication of being seen in a negative light.  As soon as people turn into suspects, Neptune is there. Neptune is also there when there are mysteries, when the media is involved (too much) and when certain things remain unsolved. Neptune is the symbol of mist.

'Capturing the Friedmans' was a very interesting movie that leaves you wondering. It might be caused by the ambiguous attitude of the film maker, who still refuses to tell the audience whether he considers the Friedmans' guilty or not. But anyway...thanks to that movie I have a DOB.

b. natal chart

Arnold Friedman's chart has a prominent Sun in the final degree of Pisces, close to Zero Aries and trine Mars. Saturn is the 'oriental planet' (the first outer planet rising before the Sun). This Saturn is in Capricorn and afflicted. He was a conformist in the first place (a tiny man with hugh glasses). He was a valued teacher before 1984. 

Now look at the most narrow aspect in his chart. That is Mercury inconjunct Neptune. This immediately reminded me of the chart of Patrick Dils (see post on that case) with the same aspect. Mercury inconjunct Neptune is very confusing...

Jess, the son of Arnold, is free (after 16 years. In 2013 he was again found 100% guilty by the Nassau Country District Attorney (see http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/jesse-friedman-100-guilty-child-abuse-article-1.1380786 )

CONCLUSION

Chart of Misha Defonseca (not raised by wolves)

Yesterday it was the 77th birthday of Misha Defonseca, the artist name of a woman who told the world a story of being raised by wolves in World War II, after she - a Jewish child - escaped a prisoner camp. There is a movie about that! And a lot of people believed the story, including her publisher. But in the end, it is clear that Misha is not Jewish and never was in a prisoner's camp. The book and movie are still available. I haven't read it, but the reviews tell me that it is a fascinating story (but a pity that it wasn't sold as a story from the beginning).

Misha Defonseca's birth chart has many many easy trines, the Sun/Moon semi square Venus for highlights on comfort and talent, and... an important Uranus to be in the news. The Mercury-Neptune trine permits her to picture a story and tell us tales. Moon with Venus and Neptune, 157.5 d from Midheaven: a pattern for artistic talent (though she had a ghost writer).
And there is Jupiter opposition Pluto on either side of the horizon for success (but, with a question mark, as oppositions seem to have to point at). In October 2008 she won a legal battle over 33 million dollars with P Sun opposite Jupiter (after P Sun c Pluto in February).

Now watch the transits and progressions for today and in particular: watch Saturn.

Transit Saturn is:
opposition natal Sun
inconjunct natal Venus
inconjunct progressed Venus
105 degrees progressed Sun

And in her solar return chart Sun is opposite Saturn, too.

She heard that she must pay back her publisher what she won in court a few years ago. That is not a nice birthday present...

When a solar return chart has such aspects, the birthday is not pleasant at all. But, as you see in this example, it takes more than 2 (usually much more) aspects for a major event to happen.

Schapelle Corby's chart today

Here are relevant charts of Schapelle Corby, who is allowed to leave prison today. She has to stay on Bali until 2017. Below are the natal-transit-progressions, the natal-transit and progressed-transit charts. Her chart with Mercury sesquisquare Neptune is one of the examples of a case full of doubts (for more of those…)

You will see that progressed Venus has not yet reached Midheaven (a big wish to come true later). Transit Venus is on the IC (joy) now. Transit Saturn square progressed Sun describes the end of a period in life (and some limitations). Transit Jupiter was on Midheaven in September 2013 and hasn’t reached Midheaven for the second time, yet. That will be in April 2014. Today is in between these moments.

Schapelle could have been sentenced to death, but being a foreigner helped her survive. She drew attention (Sun conjunct MC) and she had an excited or different behavior, too (Moon-Uranus). As she was good looking, they noticed her (Sun-Venus) and she had bad luck (Saturn related to Aries Point). All three of them have enemies and followers. "Hi Suzann, the recent conviction of a British woman doesn't give much hope. There is Jupiter transit her Midheaven between September and May 2014. That might improve her situation. It will be between May 2015 and December 2017 that transits of Uranus and Pluto on MC reflect changing conditions. I hope for her that she doesn't have to wait till then!, but in 2018 MC conjunct Progressed Venus at least gives hope for better times in future."

This tweet by Jean Funken (@Astrostudies) triggered my interest in the chart of the official starting moment of the Syria Peace Conference in Montreux today. What do I think? I think about Neptune. Neptune is on the Ascendant. Neptune is also exactly opposition the natal Mercury of Assad. I remember my transit Mercury opposition Neptune as a bad day for communications and negotiations. Transits of Neptune are always confusing. This is my take on T Neptune-Mercury:

• Transit Neptune with Mercury confuses the mind and tends to miscommunications.

In the eve of the conference thousands of pictures of starved, tortured and killed young men appeared, blaming Assad. Mercury-Neptune is one of the 'suspicious aspects' I wrote about earlier (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/08/suspicious-aspects-re-west-memphis.html ) This aspect adds to unclarity and negotiations may end in a foggy way. Astrology and Sixto Rodriguez

Yesterday I watched a documentary about the search for Sixto Rodriguez, a singer and guitar player unknown in his own country but famous in South Africa, where he ‘sold’ as many as a few million records without any payment. American and South Atrican cooperation led to Detroit. After they located the singer, they found that he worked for a  demolition company and had given up all aspiration after being fired in in the early 70s. He had given it another try in Australia, in 1979-1981 (together with the Midnight Oil) and then continued ordinary life. Unfortunately his alcohol addiction kept him from real success, again.

This is the chart of his day of birth, July 10, 1942 in Detroit, where he still lives. The astro ID is clear about it:

• Jupiter rises before the Sun and is ‘calling’: there is an international, a positive person with the potentional of success at any possible level

• Sun is calling (no major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees): he draws attention, somehow, anyhow

• Moon in Cancer, possibly in aspect with Venus AND Neptune could be part of the pattern of artistic talent

• Sun semi square Uranus points at the fact that he was an outsider drawing attention. As a demolition  worker, sometimes dressed in smoking.

• Mercury square Neptune, an aspect that is great for text writers, but confusing when contracts are involved and addresses must be found. 

• There is also Sun opposition Pholus for the questionable turning points in life (initiated by others)

COME BACK WITH SATURN

The amazing thing is that when he had his concert in South Africa in March 1998, transit Saturn was square his natal Sun, transit Jupiter was square Saturn (natal Jupiter is semi sextile Saturn) and transit Pluto inconjunct his Jupiter.  Pluto inconjunct Jupiter points at disproportional success (without getting rich, in this case). Jupiter-Saturn is an effort for late success. Saturn-Sun talks about endings, goodbyes, restrictions, walls, shortcomings and criticism instead of living happily ever after. Anyway, it is because of 'Searching for SugarMan' that I heard about Rodriguez. Maybe he was TOO modest? 

There is also transit Uranus inconjunct progressed Sun. That is the aspect combination of his natal chart (Sun semi square Uranus). 'Resonating' transits like this (and Jupiter-Saturn, see above) mark an important moment in his life/agenda. But, it is an inconjunct. He may have looked ‘cool’ and happy on stage, but there was something uneasy or nervous about it (it was sudden, shocking, strange!).  

Nevertheless: transit Jupiter trine natal Jupiter helped to get him and his family members to South Africa and have a good time.

AFTERMATH

The documentary said that Sixto Rodriguez continued to work as he did, in Detroit and what he earned he gave away to family and friends. Wikipedia in Dutch says that his performances in 2012 and 2013 failed due to alcoholism. The English version mentions an honorary doctorate in May 2013. But it is certain that he receives royalties from now on...

It would be great to know the hour of birth to see what the chart has to say about this strange career!

Transit Saturn, Transit Neptune, NSA and Obama

Here is the chart (natal, transits and progressions) of Barack Obama and what do you see?

natal-t&p-october2013

Transit Saturn is square his Sun. 
Transit Saturn is in the ninth house (the house of 'abroad')
Saturn rules the 12th and is in the 12th house of secrets and the media
Sun rules the 7th house of 'them' and allies.

Perfect description of the present situation (given the circumstances). Allies like Angela Merkel are angry about the NSA spying on them. Obama said that he didn't know. Now the papers say he did ( http://www.dw.de/new-media-report-suggests-obama-knew-nsa-spied-on-merkel/a-17185662 ) Transit Saturn square Sun makes you face mistakes.

Transit Neptune inconjunct Mercury adds confusion.
Transit Neptune inconjunct his Mercury is a bad sign if you want others to believe what you say. Mistaken words, unclear statements, gossip and hiding facts work against you when Neptune comes along. Neptune is the symbol of mist, fantasy and all that is hidden and fake. It seems that those who work in or with the NSA can't stop leaking. And leakage is Neptune, the in conjunction is lack of balance and possible loss, Mercury is about KNOWING.

Is that enough to illustrate the situation? There is more if you want it. The progressed Moon conjunct cusp III, entering the 3rd house of communications, on her way to a quindecile with transit Saturn, promises worries ahead and a focus on communications. There is a lot of repairing to do in the next days and weeks.

It would be very bad if the progressed Sun didn't trine the Moon and if progressed Venus didn't square natal Moon. The moon is the symbol of popularity and Venus-Moon represents the need to be loved and all that eases feelings. Germany and the USA aren't enemies.

The NSA-revelations in a period of Saturn-Sun and Mercury-Neptune are difficult to deal with. Barack Obama is still an ally and a friend. Maybe this bad moment has a feel-good-ending, anyway? But not after a dramatic change in Angela's opinions, I guess, because transit Pluto and transit Uranus (the combination of revolutionary change, revolt and nervous stress) are making hard aspects with her Mercury.

Barack Obama and Angela Merkel ( Hamburg, 17 juli 1954 ) share an aspect (more on sharing...). Both have a difficult connection between Sun and Neptune. Being an idol and having to deal with the media isn't always easy and they both know it. They also share idealism or beliefs. Nevertheless: sharing Sun-Neptune doesn't mean everlasting sympathy. Both have a square between Sun and Neptune. This hard aspect, in the end, mirrors disappointment.

Sun and Neptune shared in aspect gives you shared ideals, dreams and faith or even a shared idol! But with hard aspects you might share the same disillusions as well or this relationship is disillusive. Cooperating could work out best in an asylum or in a non-profit organization where they can help others, and each other.

Another possible combination is between enemies and with Sun in hard aspect with Neptune shared. Ideology stand between you as was the case with the murderer of director Theo van Gogh who shared Sun square Neptune.

Mars in the case of Jodi Arias and Travis Alexander

The case of the murder of Travis Alexander (see Wikipedia) is a rare case of brutal violence against a man, committed by a woman (Jodi Arias). It made me think of the John Wayne Bobbitt case (his lover cut off his penis, see link), of the Mars-Uranus effect and of more examples of Mercury inconjunct Neptune, but most of all of Mars.

Killings, murders and accidents never happen because of just one aspect. In this case it is also a combination of a rather aggressive woman with possible psychiatric problems and a short sexual relationship that never should have had a second episode. Mars is the symbol of cutting, shooting, firing and sex. With Mars, it is often playing with fire...

Why is Mars so important here?

1. Mars is prominent in Jodi Arias chart.
Her Mars is opposition Aries Point and 'calling' (without major narrow aspects). It is for drive, aggression, work, energy and sex at any possible level and for being known to the public related to men or a man.

2. Mars is also important in the interaction between her chart and the chart of Travis Alexander. The distance between their Mars is 112.5 degrees (90+22.5, square + half semi square). This minor aspect with major impact shows the fire and later anger between them. See the post on Mars-Mars synastry...

3. Progressed Sun semi square Mars when she killed him.
When Jodi Arias killed Travis Alexander her progressed Sun was semi square Mars. Remember my post on Mars-Sun and Sun-Mars progressions ('manifest aggression')? Here is the link. When the progressed Sun meets Mars or vice versa it is time to stand up for yourself, to act, to show your anger and drive. But when this happens to someone with a prominent Mars who is in a bad mental state, accidents, incidents and fights may happen. It also highlights sex(Mars)life(Sun).

4. There is a Mars-Uranus issue:
- Bobbitt has Mars novile Uranus.
- Travis Alexander has Mars inconjunct Uranus.
- Arias has a prominent Mars septile Uranus.
Two short fuses meet and explode?

5. Her Mars is quindecile (165d) Eris. That is a statement for a strong focus on what makes WAR: obsessively driven by discord. 

6. His Eris is also quindecile her Mars (as they are about the same age*).

Here are the positions on her day of birth and in transit his. You may notice that they don't match much.

MORE ON CHART OF ARIAS
In my opinion you can't read Arias' chart as you read the charts of 'normal' persons. She seems to have a psychiatric problem. In those cases the hard aspects are harder and the soft aspects contribute to the realization of the potential in the hard aspects. There is that obsessive anger. For example: there is Sun square Pluto for the fanatic and intense living person. Her Saturn is square Alexander's Venus and Venus-Saturn sticks like glue. Her Neptune is sesquisquare his Sun and that is very confusing.

The second most narrow aspect is Mercury inconjunct Neptune. When there is doubt about a verdict or a statement in a criminal case, Mercury-Neptune pops up (see the examples). It is the aspect of the confused mind, and the unclear facts. It may be clear that Jodi Arias killed Travis Alexander, but she says that it was because he abused her (and she happened to carry a gun with her…). We will never know what exactly happened between them, but we know that she shot and stabbed him (more than 20 times) and that she was stalking him before that happened.

CHART TRAVIS ALEXANDER
Travis Alexander's chart has three interesting components:

1. Jupiter rises before the sun, narrowly conjunct Venus. That is a statement for having a party and
being lucky in love (with women).

2. Uranus is square the Sun and inconjunct Mars.
Unusual, sudden sex and experimental sex techniques CAN be related to this aspect combination. You may wonder why, if she was already stalking him, he took the risk to have sex with her. Mars inconjunct Uranus acts on impulse and that is risky.

A sesquisquare is frustrating. Sun-Pholus is the combination of the turning point in life.

Here is the chart with progressions and transits for the day of his death:

*) Jodi Arias had an affair with an older man before she met Travis Alexander. In that affair, the quindecile between Mars and Eris was wider.

It is  a bit strange that her name is Arias. It looks like Aries and in fact, she has an important Mars.
