Edward Snowden's chart today

Edward Snowden, says an official, has blood on his hands. British and American spies had to be ‘rescued’ because Snowden handed over millions of files. He says that he did that to show that the West is violating human rights by spying civilians. He told us all what we already suspected: Big Brother Is Watching Us. It is been 1984 and he proved it. That makes him a hero in the eyes of millions. Later he fled to Russia (via China), a country where journalists are being murdered if they dare to criticize the leader, Vladimir Putin. Though he was a candidate for the Nobel Prize and has many fans and followers, he also made strong and powerful enemies. He gave away classified documents. Those documents were hacked (by Russia and China) and it is said that this enabled possible enemies to hurt the West (see http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/news/uk_news/National/article1568673.ece). 

So, we have a controversial whistleblower. 

Whistleblowers are activists revealing secrets or scandals. 

The chart of Snowden is in line with that. It is the chart of an activist (Mars OOB rising before the Sun). He may be involved in scandals (Sun opposition Neptune), too. 

Here is the chart with transits and progressions for now,  June 14, 2015:

Today we see:

1. transit Pholus square his progressed Midheaven (a nasty turning or trigger point) 

2. the progressed Sun sextile Chiron (shows ‘hurt’)

3. the progressed Sun in the final degree of Cancer. Final degrees of a sign are like the clock pointing at 5 minutes to 12: the moment that live and life style is due to change. His life already changed in a big way in this astrological period of change. 

NATAL CHART

The chart of Snowden is that of a Gemini with a strong personality (Moon in Scorpio*). The OOB Mars rising before the Sun tells us about a person who is first of all an activist, at any possible level. The Mercury-Uranus opposition on the chart’s horizon mirrors the dawning of a mental controversy and differences of opinion. This is an important aspect in the chart, as Uranus is the ruler of Midheaven and Mercury is the ruler of the Ascendant. The rulers of the corner stones of the chart are in conflict with each other, demonstrating the importance of freedom of thinking and freedom of speech .

The aspects of the Sun with Neptune and Pluto enables discretion and secrecy, while Sun opposite Neptune raises the issue of identity and possible ‘double life’.

The chart shows an activist with a strong and controversial opinion, maybe not all too clear about himself. In fact, that is what he is.

ALIENATION

Minor aspects, major impact, I use to say. In Snowden’s chart the Sun is 157.5 degrees from Uranus (a sesquisquare + half semi square). The Sun-Uranus aspect is about alienation (estrangement) and being an outsider or stranger in your own world. In Russia, he is. In the USA, he was. The fact that to many persons in his own country he is a traitor and in Russia he is a stranger in exile matches with the Sun-Uranus minor aspect. You wouldn’t (and apparently the State of the USA couldn’t) immediately see that he was ‘different’, but he was and he is.

HERO?

It may depend on your political position how you see Edward Snowden. Is he a spie and traitor? Is he a hero? The chart doesn’t answer. The chart just shows us that there is a controversy regarding his person, an activist pur sang, and the question whether he is a hero or not, mirrored by Sun opposition Neptune.  Maybe he knows the answer to the Sun-Neptune question:

 “Am I who I think that I am, or am I who other’s think what I am?”

Marine Le Pen, Jean-Marie Le Pen: it is all about Uranus

Uranus is the symbol of independence and all that is new, like introductions. Sun-Uranus aspects often signal the outsider or the ‘black sheep’. Uranus is also the symbol of nervous change and controversy. With that in mind, it is no surprise that French politician Marine Le Pen now wants her father (founder of the party) to leave after his controversial remarks about the holocaust. Their charts are hit by Uranus right now.

MARINE

Marine Le Pen has Sun semi square Uranus, to be interpreted as  a rather frustrated will to be free and independent AND being controversial (as a leader of Front National, a right wing party). Often, Sun-Uranus is reflecting separation, from the father, or the husband. She divorced twice.

Why now?

Her progressed Sun was conjunct her natal Uranus 2.5 years ago, when the confrontations with her father started to emerge. Her progressed Sun was also square his natal Sun then, so that he was ‘in the picture’.

Transit Uranus is on her Descendant now (freedom from others, liberation).

So, it is time to become independent now. How about her father?

JEAN-MARIE

His Progressed Sun is now exactly quindecile (165d) Uranus, mirroring a strong focus on independence and freedom as well as an obsessive way to show indepence. There is also a conjunction with natal Ixion, so that there is spotlight on issues of being grateful and guests and ‘bad guys’ (or being seen as one).

SYNASTRY

Why does this happen between the two of them?

The Sun of father Jean-Marie is exactly square her Uranus.

In her eyes (Sun) he is unpredictable. So even though he introduced her in the party, she may find it time to be free.

URANUS

So it is all about Uranus, the controversial, the outsider, the liberation, the independent and the free. He wants to be independent and express his ideas. She wants to be liberated from a father whose ideas are not just controversial but also limit the possible amount of voters. Again, Uranus is the master of chaos, alienation (estrangement) and a lot of nervous fuss.

Eris and the charts, transits and progressions of the Kouachi brothers

Above is a scary picture for those who are afraid of spiders. It is a photo of a jumping spider named Eris Militaris. This picture was chosen because of the importance of dwarf planet Eris in the chart of two terrorists as I will show you. Eris is sesquisquare midpoint Sun/Moon in the chart of one and elevated in the chart of the second one. Eris (wrath, chaos and strife) is the goal and the motivation of terrorism.

It is the day of the big manifestation against terrorism in Paris. Here are the AA rated charts (source Astrodatabank) with transits and progression of the late Saïd and Chérif Kouachi, the brothers who murdered the staff of CharlieHebdo (see earlier post) for you to study.

Charts, as you know, can't be read without considering the genes, gender, situation, conditions and culture, age or period in history.  Charts are just astrological pictures of the sky for a certain moment. At that certain moment cats, dogs, birds, companies and human beings were born, people died and married or gave birth and there were accidents or happy moments for hundreds of thousands of people. The chart shows important items and issues. Astrologers see the picture of the sky as a reflection of a certain moment and they believe that the moment of birth (seeing the light) is the most important moment for a person. The picture of the sky shows the nature of the person. The charts of the brothers must also be seen in the light of their position in society and their background. That is even more important here, because their charts highlight the importance of genes and background (Ceres). And the importance (for them) of disharmony, discord and fights (Eris).

The oldest brother Saïd has a chart with :
a. Ceres (genes, dynasty) conjunct Ascendant, Sun conjunct IC (the point of family and background), b. Eris (the symbol of discord) elevated and inconjunct Sun (unbalanced disharmony, at cost of life)
c. the Moon in Leo (need to be a leader or draw attention) rises before the Sun (own needs and own family/group first)
d. The tightest aspect in his chart is Jupiter square Neptune. Jupiter-Neptune is the combination of the believing audience, the fans and followers and devotion. That is why Jupiter-Neptune is related to the movies, but also to beliefs and religion. A square is for a difficulty, a battle. This tight square makes being a follower or believer an important issue in his life.
e. The Sun-Uranus minor aspect refers to being an outsider, alienation, independence or rebellion.

At the time of the murders and of his death there were two in conjuncts:
1. progressed IC was inconjunct Uranus and
2. the progressed Descendant inconjunct Venus.
There is also an Eris-Node opposition. That is it.

His brother Chérif has a typical combination for terrorism:
1. Sun semi square Mars and conjunct Uranus. The Sun-Mars-Uranus combination is frequent in charts of terrorists, but doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be a terrorist, of cours. 2. Uranus rising before the Sun made it important to be controversial and 'different'.
3. Sun/Moon midpoint sesquisquare Eris motivated for disharmony and is motivated by it.
The Leo Ascendant is for drawing attention. That completes the picture.

At the time of the murders and of his death, we see:
- progressed Mars conjunct Descendant and
- transit Neptune square Uranus, conjunct cusp 8 (house of death) + square progressed MC,
- but also transit Jupiter inconjunct Mars
As a member of a group (of terrorists) you could see the chart as that of a man eager to act, motivated and at the time perhaps driven by an ideal.

Charts don't judge or explain. Charts show us how a person's astrological situation is and need to be interpreted. We must see them in the light of the background and circumstances and weigh all factors. Actors and sports men were born on their days of birth. There are many ways to deal with anger and aggression or energy.

The fact that it didn't take much to turn these brothers with these charts into killing machines - prepared to die in the name of their faith - is very scary. There is an important astrological signal in their charts that might be the key to their acts. Eris. Eris is important in their charts. The position of this symbol tells us that chaos, strife and disharmony was their goal (elevated Eris) and motivated them (Sun/Moon Eris). Eris is the symbol of jealousy. In the myth, she was the one not invited for the party (she always quarreled, that's why), seeking revenge by causing chaos and this ended in the Trojan war (with the famous Trojan horse, by the way). One named Paris was involved.

Quoting Wikipedia about Eris:

Strife whose wrath is relentless, she is the sister and companion of murderous Ares, she who is only a little thing at the first, but thereafter grows until she strides on the earth with her head striking heaven. She then hurled down bitterness equally between both sides as she walked through the onslaught making men's pain heavier. She also has a son whom she named Strife.

Is it coincidental that Eris became as important as Pluto (a dwarf planet) in the past decade, I wonder?   That doesn't give much hope. Maybe they can rename her, please, in Harmonia?:)

Minor aspects, major effect and Kim Kardashian's transit Uranus

I like November, especially when I am in my house:). Outside it is stormy weather and it smells a bit like decay and rotten leaves. It is getting darker all the time.. So it is nice when there is something light and funny to talk about this time. It is about Kim Kardashian's behind, of course. Everybody is talking about that picture. So why not me? I wondered if there was a Uranus (typical this name) transit to explain the fact that the world is so obsessed about one woman's oily bottom. And of course, there was. It is a minor aspect and it is a special one. The quindecile (165 degree aspect) is the aspect of obsession and strong focus. The world has it's focus on her, right now. It is unexpected, it is controversial, people laugh about it and it is in the news. What more do you need to cry: Uranus? 

Kim Kardashian’s birth chart is AA-rated on Astrodatabank, so the time must be right. With that Pluto rising before the Sun, and Moon opposite Jupiter on the meridian, her chart 'covers' the popularity and fame. I wouldn't dare to point at the Ascendant for the behind, but it IS a Sagittarius Ascendant with Jupiter prominently on MC! Maybe you see more clues to the story. If you do, tell me, please. Here is the chart for you to see and calculate. Transit Uranus 14th degree Aries. Sun 29th degree Libra. 209-14=195-360=165. There you are.

 

Such a transit on the right moment makes me happy to use minor aspects.

Astrology and WC2014

Charts Spain-Netherland and Australia-Netherlands

The Mercury Retrograde episode prevented that I would publish my weekly column on Astromarkt.net in less than 3 efforts, so I can only hope that this post will be online today. It is sort of a translation of the column and it is about football. It takes a lot of time to analyse charts of football matches and I don’t have much time now that I am back from a 4 week journey and see the washes and the garden...

But astrology keeps calling, and today is Father's Day, so I had a look at Spain-Netherlands and Australia-Netherlands. 

Previously I found a correspondence between Midheaven of the final moment of a match and the charts of the coaches. This time only Del Bosque’s Chiron square Midheaven and no major or minor aspect with the chart of Louis van Gaal. 

Now that is not very surprising, since we all knew that the Netherlands would win at the moment that it was 1-3 and even more 1-4. I cheered before the final moment and so did almost everybody (expect the fans of Spain, of course). Van Gaal’s Venus on the actual Midheaven of that moment revealed that a wish came true: he was happy. The final moment held no surprise or emotion that hadn’t been expressed in an earlier stage. 

That, dear readers, makes it complicated to look at football with astrologer’s glasses on. Any moment in the game can be the ‘ultimate’ moment! And shouldn't there be an astrological exclamation when you see the results: 5 to 1? It’s just that I am too curious not to give it a try again, that you see the chart of the official final moment of Australia-Netherlands here.

Please keep in mind, that transit Uranus is in aspect with the natal and progressed Sun of Van Gaal these days and that Uranus is the symbol of what can’t be predicted at all. Uranus is for tension, excitement and surprise, surprise! But, how about that double Mars-Jupiter interaction? This seems to reflect successful action and competition. 

Above are the charts (the transits are the positions on the day of birth of Dutch coach Van Gaal) and… don’t forget to enjoy Fathers’ Day! You’ll know the results of the match soon enough! If astrology could be used to 'predict' the results, astrologers would be billionaires. Knowing that, doesn't stop me from having a look at the charts.

This post is one of a series of posts on the bright sides of nasty aspects (but only when you look at it like if you were the devil's advocate). Of course, I don’t want to laugh at heavy transits. I wouldn’t dare! Too many of them have passed in my life and most of them were rather unpleasant! It is no wonder that many of us fear the transits  and progressions of Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. It is, because they  use to mirror periods of set backs, shocks, confusion and stress. But there ARE always bright sides, tiny little insignificant sparks of light, fallen stars that may hit you when you are down. I always use music in such periods. So I included a suggested YouTube video, in every post.

Use it for transits and progressions, just to consider the bright sides. What have you learned, gained or experienced in those nasty periods?

Sun-Uranus

At least, you had some excitement, hadn’t you?

With Sun-Uranus you are woken up by alarming situations. If you are a VIP you are probably mentioned in the newspapers now and there is no such thing as a moment to be news for a VIP. Some of you Sun-Uranus-period persons shock the world by sudden death. That is not my advice! Take a look at the examples and pick your way to ‘do’ Sun-Uranus.
