The Pluto-MC renovation

Next week my house will be upside down. The old kitchen will have to make place for a new one. That sounds simple, but it isn’t. Things got more complicated due to an inflammatory condition of my lungs, the start of pneumonia. (Not bad enough to stop me from blogging…)

The chart says:
- Progressed MC opposition(
- transit Mars conjunct Neptune ruler 1 on the eve of the works

This happens shortly after Progressed Moon square Pluto (and transit Saturn involved in this). This also happens right after Mars square Sun/Moon and transit Saturn opposition progressed Moon. And yes, Venus is retrograde, but she wasn't mid November, when the kitchen was bought. I think that Pluto has the starring role now.

When Pluto is around, it becomes difficult, complicated and challenging. How else can you have the promised stress?:) In my case the aspects are even more important. That is because I have an exact natal trine between MC and Pluto, ruler 8 in 6.  So, MC-Pluto lands in fruitful ground and as an astrologer, I am happy to see how the symbols correspond with my condition. Still, I have some objectionsJ

Time, money and schedules. Every renovation has time and money complications. Ours, too.
We tried to call, mail, SMS and write to the builders, contractors and renovators in vain, for weeks, starting mid November. They kept us in the dark about prices and schedules. Pluto is for the price to pay and I had no idea that I would follow the footsteps of all those renovating families on TV and have to add 25%.

There is also more work to be done than expected. And why do I have all that stuff? They say that it is good to throw away something old when you buy something new (or better, to start cleaning in order to make place). Yes, I threw away things that I hadn't used in 15 years! I recently cleaned and organized the garage, too. But somehow it is full again! It just happens… With Pluto, you have to go to the bottom of it (and right now 80% of the floor is occupied).

The latest complication is my health (starting pneumonia, more seriously if the medication - Prednison, for example - fails).  A couple of days ago - transit Mars and Saturn-Moon - we caught a virus. After that I couldn't breath like I used to. I have to avoid any dust next week (and wonder how!). So now I am rather tired and in bed a lot, hoping for better times soon.

Next year Progressed MC will be opposition natal Pluto (and no more other Pluto's). I hope that it will be about the bathroom…and only the bathroom.

Renovations… It is just supposed to be fun with a happy end and it probably will.

Question:
When you renovated (part of) your house, did you have a Pluto progression or transit?

Dietician time with Transit Ceres-Jupiter inconjunct

This afternoon I see a dietician for the second time in my life. The first time was when I was far too skinny at age 18. I had to eat two more slices of bread, but I couldn't. Instead, I used not to eat one day per week (just an orange and a glass of milk)! I was 33 when I quit smoking and gained 12 kilograms. Well, I  am bit older now and if I am not careful I will reach a fatal BMI point.

I already wrote about Ceres-Jupiter and too much food. Today I have - exactly!-  transit Ceres inconjunct Progressed Midheaven. Transit Jupiter was there (inconjunct P MC) last week. The perfect combination for a diet and thinking about a balance (inconjunct)! Also, transit Jupiter is spot on square my ruler 1 in the sign of the balance (Neptune in Libra)! So maybe I have too many illusions about the effect of it. I read here that it might also be the case, that I (I???) make a false promise. Like eating less and moving more, perhaps?

Anyway, it is Ceres-Jupiter, when you need advice (Jupiter) on nutrition (Ceres).

Progressed chart, art and career (re Dali)

In my blog Art & Astrology I mentioned the chart of Salvador Dali. His chart is an example of the influencial progressed chart. The progressed chart is the chart for the xth day after birth, valid for the xth year after birth. The progressed chart tells us about the course of life, how we change, develop and get chances (or not). The birth chart gives the tools and the progressed chart shows the way. The progressed chart of Salvador Dali had Mercury conjunct Venus when the progressed Sun changed sign in 1929. His life changed when somebody came to teach him how to draw!

The chart of Salvador Dali made me think about finding the best profession for a person at a certain age. Because people develope and change and some of us change late. Maybe too late to make a fresh new start, but sometimes the change was more gradual and only adding experience or a new style. Salvador Dali was thought how to draw and he had basic talents. He had the right stimulating teacher, he was encouraged into the right direction and trained to get skilled. And later he went to the right place to be part of the 'scene'.

In the earlier post about Obama's progressed chart you can see how his chart in progression shows the statesman that is not that obvious in the natal chart. In fact, you can WATCH Obama grow into the position of President each day. On the other hand, some potential that originaly existed at birth might have vanished through the years, of course.

People grow, people get educated and change and at a certain point in life they are READY and fit for the job they were ment for. Salvador Dali's initial artistic talents were illustrated by Venus end dispositor of the Midheaven in Taurus, sextile Neptune and that was all. But when a friend of his father started educating him and teaching him to draw, in his progressed chart Mercury and Venus had come together for 'art classes' and his progressed Sun sign changed. So did his life!

When he went to Paris in 1929 his progressed MC changed sign to Taurus!

So again, the progressed chart is of importance and gives information about a person's goals and interests as they were influenced by others and by circumstances AFTER birth. Maybe your initial chart (the birth chart) is not enough to be what you wanted to be, but maybe your progressed chart adds just what you need. Be on the lookout for it!

The progressed Midheaven

When I published ‘Progressed Sun, what it is and how’ (about Progressed Sun, Moon and planets) I promised to get into the whole progressed chart later. The way to calculate the frame (Ascendant, MC and houses) is quite different than the way to calculate positions of Sun, Moon and planets, as you may well know. If you know how to calculate a birth chart, it is rather easy to calculate a progressed chart, once that you have chosen a method. And that, selecting a method, is the most difficult step in the process. For those who want to 'progress' a Midheaven it is not easy to make a choice.  They are confronted with: Solar Arc Midheaven, Primary Midheaven, Secondary (Progressed) Midheaven. You can also simply add 1 degree for each year. And there is a reversed version, too! Yes, there are even more ways to progress a chart than those that I mentioned here (see Wikipedia)! Because of the number of systems and methods I very much doubt that one of them is 100% perfect. I mostly use the secondary progression of MC because of the fact that it is the most used system in Europe (and I guess that this has a reason:). But I used the Primary Midheaven before (it is just that the program that I used is on an old laptop).

DIFFERENT METHODS, DIFFERENT RESULTS
Apparently, I haven't found the best way to progress a Midheaven, yet, even not after many many hours trying to 'correct' my chart so that the longitude degrees between planets would correspond perfectly with the progression of Midheaven or Ascendant.
All methods give a different degree for the progressed MC for the same year. The difference is about 5.3 degrees for my own progressed charts for this year! That is difference of about 5.3 years in life time and the difference between a Progressed MD opposition Pluto, sesquisquare Saturn or sesquisquare Uranus. (Maybe with such progressions it doesn't really matter, they are all difficult:).

MY CONCLUSION
Correcting charts by means of using aspects of or transits with Progressed MC or Ascendant isn’t easy because of the existing amount of methods. The progressed, primary, Bonatti or Solar Arc MC aren't  solid tools to 'correct' a birth time...

What method do you use or prefer? Please do the poll...

NEXT: PROGRESSED CHART AND TRANSITS
The progressed Midheaven is the key to finding the Ascendant and the positions of the Progressed Sun, Moon and planets in the chart drawing (and in the houses). I use the progressed chart to see the changed priorities and the most important issues.
