The Iran deal and Jupiter

It is amazing how the symbol of success, Jupiter, pops up in charts related to the IranTalks deal yesterday. Here is a list:

- Jupiter is conjunct the Sun of Barack Obama, manifesting his happiness.
- Jupiter is quindecile the Sun of Hassan Rouhani, showing some kind of strong determination for success.
- As the USA's Pluto is conjunct the Progressed Sun of Rouhani, the same quindecile of Jupiter hits the USA's Pluto.
- Israel's leader Netanyahu has transit Jupiter in minor aspect with Progressed Sun (75 degrees), but it is still Jupiter.
- Jupiter is inconjunct the progressed Sun of the State of Israel and that sounds more like a success with a loss involved, even more because the Progressed Sun is opposition Pholus (turning point made by others).

It is Jupiter all over! And Jupiter is a positive sign. That may be the reason why the deal is considered to be a good deal by almost all involved. The inconjunct with the chart of Israel is the symbol of lost balance that adds 'but...' when it says 'OK'.  The 75 degree aspect in Netanyahu's chart is in between the sextile and the square and in between OK and resistance.

This, BTW, doesn't give a judgement on the deal itself. Jupiter popped up in the chart of serial killer Marc Dutroux any time that he was released by a nice judge (see for example 'Jupiter the jolly judge'). Jupiter signals how one feels at that moment in time (from joy to relieve). Just click here to find many examples of (transits of) Jupiter...

Here you find the charts. CTR + Tap or click in the chart, open new window and maximize the size!

Darts and astrology

I am not a darts fan, even though throwing arrows would fit my sun sign. But as my husband likes it, I see a lot of it. Yesterday I saw Michael van Gerwen against Garry Anderson and a part of Phil Taylor against Raymond van Barneveld. Of course I checked their birth data, transits and progressions, even though there are no known hours of birth. The astrological situation of Michael van Gerwen was clearly nasty and he looked tired and sad. His day of birth is April 25, 1989. His progressed Sun entered Gemini this year and the planet of blockades, Saturn, entered Sagittarius on December 24. That is an opposition. To make it even worse, progressed Mars was exactly opposite his natal Saturn. To finish it, transit Pluto joined his natal Saturn and was opposite his progressed Mars as well. More than 3 difficult aspects to symbolize difficulties in real life were enough, even though he made it to the semi finals. And I don't even know what kind of transits and progressions there were for the Moon, MC or Ascendant! He had bad bad luck.

His fellow country man Barney (Raymond van Barneveld) didn't make it to the finals, either. He was born April 20, 1967 and had transit Mars square Neptune. He was very tired, too.

Phil Taylor had transit Pluto and Uranus in aspect with progressed Sun, so it wasn't easy for him and there was a lot of stress. However, transit Mars sextile Jupiter and Jupiter himself on his natal Sun are a big big help. He might be the champion. Don't bet on it (I don't know his Ascendant, MC or Moon!).

Garry Anderson (December 22, 1970) will see progressed Sun-Saturn next year. Stressful Pluto is for now. The fact that he won was more related to the nasty positions in Van Gerwen's chart than to happy transits in his. But again, no hour of birth, and the fact that the future changes while I am writing. Speaking of darts, have you ever read that post on the Arrow of time?

Chart of the late Robin Williams

Robin Williams, a talented and beloved movie star, died yesterday. It was:

1. when the progressed Sun had entered the final degree of Virgo (about to change sign).
It means that life or lifestyle is about to change. The period before and just after the changing sign of the progressed sun is an unstable period.

2. when progressed Mars was exactly on his natal MC. Mars is in the natal 8th house of crisis (life and death)
In the natal chart Mars is rising before the Sun. It is a position for an activist, for a do-er, for someone who is not likely to sit back and wait for the good times.

3. with transit Saturn on the midpoint Ascendant/Midheaven and almost conjunct Sun/Moon midpoint. Saturn's crucial and highlighted position marks endings, setbacks, depressions...

4. when the retrograding transit Pluto had been (again) opposition natal Mars and Uranus (and was on the midpoint Mars/Uranus); the Mars-Uranus-Pluto combination is about crisis.

5. with progressed Ascendant semi square the natal Sun/Moon midpoint and highlighted his situation.

6. with progressed Ascendant also quindecile (165 degree aspect) Pluto, for a focus on the planet of stress and crisis

6. when progressed Mercury ruler 8 was moving to an inconjunct with Jupiter. Mercury-Jupiter is the combination of successful decisions, but an inconjunct in between speaks of lost balance and loss.

7. with transit Mercury ruler 8 on natal Midheaven

8. and it happened to be a transit Sun conjunct Pluto day for Robin Williams. Those days are more complicated and dangerous than other days are. (As my site Astromarkt has been hacked, I can't link to the article about solar transits and the nature of the days, sorry.)

9. Progressed MC quindecile Jupiter doesn't seem to fit in the list, but there is often a Jupiter aspect involved when a person dies. Maybe because Jupiter is the planet of the great voyage... See 'Jupiter when you die': http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/08/jupiter-when-you-die.html

10. The important transit of Saturn had been over his Ascendant and was in the first natal house. Transits of Saturn are often depressing and force you to face the facts of life.

Also, the solar return chart for Chicago (place of birth) has Saturn on Midheaven. It might just be coincidence, of course.

On important moments in life, we use to see a lot of transits and progressions. The list above shows the amount of them on August 11, 2014. At least 5 of the above mentioned points are related to the 8th house of death, but still this wouldn't have to mirror the end of life. Astrology, like statistics, doesn't work the other way around. And it takes a natal chart to start with.

Robin Williams' natal chart has an usual pattern of artistic talent compared to the artists on my site Art&Astrology. The sensitive and amorphous Moon in Pisces opposition the planet of art, Venus is in a way (as Pisces is the 'house sign' of Neptune) a variation on the theme Moon-Venus-Neptune. Leo MC is for the star. The culminating Mercury tells us about the importance of communications. He 'quickly mastered dialects', says Wikipedia and Mercury's prominence mirrors that. Mars rising before the Sun and Out of Bounds is in line with the fact that he was called 'hyperactive' when he was young. The inconjunct of Sun and Chiron shows us that there is something wrong and healing was needed (from the start).

Here is the chart with transits and progressions for yesterday.

The chart of New Year 2014

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. It is not a special astrological moment, like Zero Aries (the beginning of the Astrological New Year), but for many of us it is a special moment that we celebrate with bubbles and good wishes. For those who consider the 0h0m of January 1 as the overture of the year to come, the chart of that moment is  an important one.  So let's create them! However, every city, town or village has it's own New Year's chart. Here is the NY-city New Year chart.
In Western Europe the Ascendant is in early Libra, but in Eastern Europe and the Middle East the Ascendant at 0 hours is in hard aspect with Mars and Pluto. So it is in New York. On the angles are Mars, Pluto and Uranus and that looks quite alarming. But, there was no such thing in the NY New Year chart of 2001! And that is why I say that a New Year's Eve chart is valid as long as your resolutions are. Take my word for it: that is not very long!:)

The New Year's chart is valid for thAt specific moment. Four times a day the Mars-Uranus-Pluto combination will be on the horizon and meridian of many cities in the world, these days. We see terrorist attacks in Volvograd, riots in Turkey and danger all over the world. The Uranus-Pluto square is a mundane signal of upheaval, arrests, protests and rebellion. Mars adds some fuel to this square, now.
The Mars-Pluto square is exact in the New Year's chart. This aspect hits the 10-12 degrees of the cardinal signs and the 25-27 degrees of the fixed signs and urges to be alert if you have a chart position there. Mars-Pluto hits my Sun/Moon midpoint and my husband's Sun. We will have to be careful not to bite in hard nuts and bruise our teeth, not to get hit by someone's firework or car and just like with Xmas we will count to 10 until we drop. In that case, I'll be back in 2014! Meanwhile: have a great Year End Party.

Jupiter, the bright star that you will see these nights, is the symbol of hope. This symbol is right above your head when the New Year starts. You might regard that as a signal, like someone watching over you. Be safe and keep hoping!

PS The picture above is of Gustav Klimt and is named Hope.

The Xmas-night chart

Click for a bigger picture
Above is the Xmas-night chart for December 25, 0 hours at Bethlehem. Almost right above the heads of those in Bethlehem is Jupiter, the planet of hopes. Jupiter is in the sign Cancer (the sign of the traditions). Sounds great and the beautiful trine of Moon in Virgo - symbol of the Virgin) with Venus (peace and harmony) seems to complete the picture of holy night, silent night. In all countries of Western Europe (MET-zone)  Quaoar is opposition Miheaven and that could be the sign of creating a new status. Even Quaoar seems to fit in the Xmas picture: a new world is born. The chart is a perfect chart for a Xmas-night. But...

There is always a 'but' and that is the fact that there is an explosive Mars exactly opposition Uranus, later that night and that both are on the angles of Xmas charts in the Middle-East and in Turkey where the unexpected arrests of sons of ministers was followed by firing police chiefs, prohibiting journalist to enter police stations and the resign of one of the ministers. This Mars-Uranus hits my Uranus today and my Mars is quatronovile Uranus, so I intend to let my husband drive the car and count to ten all day long. I am paying a visit to my mother, whose Mars receives an inconjunct from transit Uranus and we go by car.

There are more persons with this challenging aspect during Xmas. I think of those with a natal or progressed Sun, Moon, Mars, Uranus, Sun/Moon midpoint, Ascendant or Midheaven in the 9th degree (8-9) of the capital signs Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn. That includes, for example, those born on December 29. If you were born on or around July 1, October 2 or March 29: keep counting your blessings! Have a lot of chocolate if you have a placement in those degrees, keep cool and stay cautious. The opposition is exact between 20 and 21 hours GMT in 8d37 Libra (Mars) and Aries (Uranus). For most of the Europeans, that will be AFTER dinner. Not too much pepper, please! Avoid the risk of technical problems with machines, motors, cars or electricity and you will look back at a busy but pleasant Xmas. Take care if Mars or Uranus is prominent in your chart, especially if there are at least 2 more warnings in the chart. But why hurry, get angry and be irritated with Christmas, uh:?
Remember: it very much depends on your character, situation and conditions how a transit will manifest. You don't HAVE to be ruled by a transit. You are in charge!

With transit of Venus, Jupiter or midpoint Venus/Jupiter, on the other hand, you have a better chance of having a lovely or great Xmas. Those born on July 8,9 or 10, the Pisces of March 7 and the Scorpio's of November 9 might meet a jolly good Santa this year. If you were born on or around October 17, your natal Sun is right in the middle of the transiting combination of the 'party': Venus/Jupiter. And those born on January 18, September 21 or May 19 may see there wish come true: a nice Xmans.
Only if you eat too much or too fat or if you spend more than you can afford, this Venus-Jupiter transit hurts (later), but meanwhile: enjoy! Have a pleasant final week of 2013!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS, JOYEUX NOEL, FELICES FIESTAS and FIJNE KERST!

Sagittarius' advice

Sagittarius is my sun sign. I have written about Sagittarius before (see that post) and now I like to tell you about Sagittarius giving and getting advice.
Sagittarius shows you the way. THIS direction is obligatory...
Sagittarius job is to show the way as a guide or a guru. A good Sagittarius shares his or her 'wisdom' by given advice! Yes, sometimes they do so unwanted, o when nobody asked for a 'good' advice. It is not their fault that nobody listens or follows the advice. They understand. That is because Sags tend to ask for advice (what would you do if you were me?), knowing that nobody  could know what to do if they were a Sag. Most of the time the Sagittarius simply goes his or her own way, neglecting the advice. They say that the advice helped them to make up their mind! Perhaps you can see the Sagittarius as a person who helps you to make up your mind...

This bird eats snakes. Name is Sagittarius Serpentarius
Now that the time of the Sag has come, I thought it wise to tell you this and not without an advice for you how to deal with Sagittarius:)! When I say Sagittarius, I mean the sign and not all persons born with Sun in Sagittarius. You can have a lot of placements in Sagittarius, a Sun/Moon midpoint in Sagittarius or a prominent Jupiter to explain your persistance in telling the world what is best for them:).

FAMOUS SAGITTARIUS PEOPLE
Beethoven is one of the most well known Sags and here is something on the loudness in the music and the chart: http://art-astrology.blogspot.nl/2008/12/loudness-and-charts-of-beethoven-and.html Recently I went to see a concert and heard the Fifth.

On this blog you also find
Tina Turner

And here is the one of Sagittarius Ozzy Osbourne (Moon sextile Venus square Neptune and trine Midheaven for the pattern of the artist):
I can't help it that they are loud. It seems that the voice of a Sagittarius is also loud. Maybe that is the connection with the teacher and the preacher and the singer?

QUESTION
Are you born with Sun in Sagittarius? How do you deal with giving and getting advice?

Dietician time with Transit Ceres-Jupiter inconjunct

This afternoon I see a dietician for the second time in my life. The first time was when I was far too skinny at age 18. I had to eat two more slices of bread, but I couldn't. Instead, I used not to eat one day per week (just an orange and a glass of milk)! I was 33 when I quit smoking and gained 12 kilograms. Well, I  am bit older now and if I am not careful I will reach a fatal BMI point.

I already wrote about Ceres-Jupiter and too much food. Today I have - exactly!-  transit Ceres inconjunct Progressed Midheaven. Transit Jupiter was there (inconjunct P MC) last week. The perfect combination for a diet and thinking about a balance (inconjunct)! Also, transit Jupiter is spot on square my ruler 1 in the sign of the balance (Neptune in Libra)! So maybe I have too many illusions about the effect of it. I read here that it might also be the case, that I (I???) make a false promise. Like eating less and moving more, perhaps?

Anyway, it is Ceres-Jupiter, when you need advice (Jupiter) on nutrition (Ceres).

Jupiter when you die

If a chart, calculated for a time of birth, would give us the time of death, precisely, we wouldn't be happy but scared.  We are lucky that there aren't such charts. Being born on the same day, place and hour doesn't mean you will die on the same day (see that post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/02/born-same-day-die-another-day-time-twins.html on time twins).

Charts can be read only in the context of culture, gender, genes, age and condition/situation. Changing the context helps a lot when a chart receives hard transits. That's, by the way,  an encouragement to make the world a better place and to try to have some peace.*)

We expect hard and nasty aspects for a day of death, but the truth is, that there is often a transit of Venus (to make things easier) or Jupiter (to improve a situation). When people say 'it was better for him (or her)…' there is often a Jupiter transit. Jupiter helps. Jupiter is the symbol of the doctor. But Jupiter is also the symbol of a passage, a voyage, moving on…

Yesterday Prince Friso, King Willem Alexander's brother died, age 44, while transit Jupiter was trine his natal Moon (11th Scorpio) and in the 8th progressed house (where the progressed Moon was, too). Jupiter trine Moon is one of the best aspects a person can get. And sometimes Jupiter simply accompanies death. Prince Friso was in coma for 1,5 years following a ski accident.

Here is the progressed (!) chart of Prince Friso, with transits and progression of yesterday.
*) See about Sun-Saturn square in time of war: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/05/transit-saturn-square-sun-during-war.html

LINKS
I like to see Jupiter in the charts of moments of death as the symbol of the assistance (comfort, guiding) of those around and as the symbol of passing away/on.  There are several posts on this subject (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/search/label/Jupiter.%20Life%20and%20death)

There were a lot of heavy transits and progressions on the day of the ski accident. See that post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2012/02/accident-and-chart-of-prince-friso.html
It is a long list of unfortunate transits and progressions for a man who went out in the snow when there was a high risk of avalanches. An accident never comes alone...'

In 'The reflection of difficulties' you read about the transits and progressions with the chart of Princess Mabel, now Prince Friso's widow: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2012/02/reflection-of-difficulties.html
Her birthday was on August 11, one day before her husband died. Her solar return chart has Neptune on the Ascendant and this Neptune is inconjunct ruler 7. This goes together, among other indications, with Progressed Mars inconjunct natal Moon and Progressed Moon + P Ceres square Sun.

Jupiter, the jolly judge?

Every time that Jupiter has a part to play in an act of justice, the suspect benefits from it? It seems so, when you see the examples here. Jupiter is the symbol of protection and support. Jupiter doesn't make a difference between those who are guilty or not guilty. Jupiter is not 'justice'. Jupiter sometimes is the jolly judge in persona. But not always. There is always a 'but'

Let me give you some examples:
1. Roman Polanski
He asked a mother to send him her 13-year old daughter for glamour pictures and had sex with her. The Swiss judge said that he was NOT to be send to the USA and the French don't want to send him away either. He is protected by friends in politics. Protection is Jupiter. That is why his chart had progressed Sun semi square natal Jupiter and transit Jupiter trine progressed Mercury at the time of the verdict. See http://astropost.blogspot.com/2010/07/roman-polanski-and-jupiter.html

2. Bertrand Cantat, a popular artist in France, was supported by his fans and friends, even though he killed his friend Marie Trintignant on July 27, 2003. He said he hit her 19 times (and on the head) because he was angry and jealous. Mars (rising before the Sun) is opposition Uranus and Pluto in the 7th house in his natal chart.

Now how about Jupiter?
Jupiter is 'calling' in his chart and Jupiter (ruler of the 11th house of friends) is inconjunct his Midheaven.
On July 27 2003 this important Jupiter his his chart. Transit Jupiter was trine his progressed Sun. His friends said it was an accident, he was outraged and it was a crime passionel.

He was convicted in 2004, got 8 years but he didn't have to stay in prison all that time. Many famous Frenchmen found that the fact that he was political correct in their eyes, should help him. He was released in 2007, on October 16. That's when I wrote about his case: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2007/10/bertrand-cantat-released.html

See Wikipedia for more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertrand_Cantat

3. Louis Althusser "massaged the neck" of his wife and she died. He was not convicted for murder. How come? Read the post on the case http://astrology-love-romance.blogspot.nl/2013/05/a-mortal-marriage-louis-and-helene.html … Now how about Jupiter?

1. transit Jupiter was on his Ascendant and inconjunct his IC on the day of the death of his wife.
2. Jupiter is 'calling' in his natal chart and inconjunct Northern Node.

More on Astrology&Love: http://astrology-love-romance.blogspot.nl/2013/05/a-mortal-marriage-louis-and-helene.html

4. DSK
I wrote about him many times. When he was almost due to be sent back to France I wrote:

Will the judge let him go? Will there be less strict conditions? If that is so, the lesson is: never underestimate the effect of Jupiter-Uranus in the chart of a wealthy man with good lawyers and never underestimate the effect of Neptune in the chart of a chamber maid. In this blog about Nafissatour Diallo you read that her progressed Sun changed sign and transit Neptune is now conjunct her progressed Sun. It is the combination of the negative view and the media attention.

And Jupiter happens to be positive…
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/07/sudden-windfall-domique-strauss-kahns.html

5. In "Jupiter and the wheel of fortune" I name:
Genarlow Wilson: he had to spend many months in jail for voluntarily sex with a girl of his age (but not 18 yet). Jupiter was trine his Sun when he was free again (together with Saturn-Uranus indications for 'breaking free').

6. Marc Dutroux, the serial killer, was found not guilty and/or released several times, with the help of Jupiter. See how:
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/05/michele-martin-marc-dutroux-and-jupiter.html

BUT, NOT ALWAYS...
yes, there is always a but. Consider this.

Transit Jupiter conjunct Sun, transit Sun square Jupiter, natal chart with Sun opposition Jupiter...on the day of his arrest, later he was hanged and recently found not guilty: Colin Campbell..
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/05/mistaken-hanging-of-colin-campbell.html
Why? His Sun is opposition Jupiter. Saturn rises before the Sun. Pluto opposition Mars/Saturn…

CONCLUSION
Jupiter doesn't help always… It is really a matter of 'wheel of fortune'. You also need influential friends!:)

PS
There is also a negative way to be found positive: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2010/09/alberto-contador-jupiter-and-positive.html

Saturn Neptune and involuntary detachment

Saturn-Neptune aspect combinations, says Reinhold Ebertin, carry the principle of suffering, renunciation and asceticism. They refer to poor, sick or depressed persons. The note on page 249 of his book 'The combination of Stellar Influences' says that Saturn-Neptune is the illness axis. There are several posts on this blog with examples (use the label Saturn-Neptune). What illnesses do, is keeping you in bed, inactive and in involuntary detachment.

In 2011 I had transit Saturn conjunct Neptune and was struck with neuritus vestibularis (a sudden extreme vertigo that keeps you flat on your back for days if not longer).  There are still remains of that 'attack' and I experienced this again and again whenever there was an overload of tasks or movements. The transit is being repeated by transit Neptune inconjunct Saturn. I also had a dental problem that was cured (I hope) mid January, with transit Neptune inconjunct Saturn and conjunct Jupiter (for the 3rd and last time). I think that the dental problem and the vertigo are related, but even though there is no scientific source of what causes neuritis vestibularis, the doctors say that there can be no link between an infection in the jaw and vertigo. What remains is the astrological link: Saturn-Neptune, Neptune-Saturn.

Saturn-Neptune is often a statement for involuntary detachment. I also found this aspect in the natal chart of a Dutch professor in criminology (born December 5, 1933) who was haunted by the press and activists after he started a study about the biology of criminals. In those days (early 80's) this was considered to be political incorrect. He got ill and depressed. Ultimately he left the world of science and went to Spain (he also had the international Jupiter rising before the sun).

Involuntary detachment: that is how Robert Hand 'translated' this aspect. Those two words seem to be the right words for Saturn-Neptune.

Happy solar returns

If there are dramatic solar returns, there must be some happy ones, too! I found the following examples of happy solar returns. They are valid for years of expecting a baby, getting married, winning election, a coronation and meeting Mr. Right. In these solar return charts symbols of motherhood and success are  on the angles or elevated.

1. Expecting a baby with Juno and Ceres
Juno (marriage) and Ceres (dynasty) are on the horizon (the line Ascendant-Desendant) of Prince William this year. This is to tell us about the importance of marriage and genes in 2012/2013.

2. Winning elections with Jupiter
In April of 2011 and again after the elections of 2012, I pointed at the SR of Obama in 2012: Jupiter on Midheaven! That is a sign of success. Here is more on that solar return chart:

http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/04/oprah-obama-and-neptune.html
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2012/11/to-win-elections-or-not-and-astrology.html

3. Coronation

Dutch Queen Beatrix's coronation day was April 30, 1980. In that year her solar return chart had Ceres (dynasty!) elevated and Venus, ruler 4, on Midheaven. This signifies happiness, wishes coming true and the importance of genes above all!

4. Year of marriage or engagement with Venus:
- Prince William's SR for 2010 gives not much reason for the engagement and wedding  in the year to come, except for the position of the elevated Venus. But there were many other indications that you see here (like, for example, the important progressed Venus conjunct Sun): http://www.astromarkt.net/willam-and-kate-wedding-and-charts.html

- The Moon and Juno were on either side of the MC, and Venus close to the AC in the solar return chart for the year of the second marriage of Princess Margarita of the Netherlands.

And I have examples of the 'common people', too....
I know of someone with Venus ruler 7 on Midheaven in the SR chart who got married that year and another person with Jupiter ruler 7 opposition MC in the SR-year of meeting her later husband

So if you have such placements in your solar return this year: Happy Solar Return!:)

Into the wild with Mars TRINE Neptune (Chris McCandless)

Recently I saw parts of the movie 'Into the wild' again. It is about Christopher McCandless (picture above), who got into trouble and died of starvation on a road trip to Alaska, alone. They estimated that he died on August 18, 1992, now 20 years ago. He left a diary and notes and a book was written about his experiences, followed by a movie. I think that much of what happened, happened because of the tightest aspect in his chart, the trine between Mars and Neptune.

Don't get me wrong! I know that there is more! For example: the Sun semi square Saturn and inconjunct Pluto (die hard combination; difficulties and restrictions), Sun biquintile Uranus and semi square Saturn (breaking free), the Sun square Neptune and inconjunct Pluto (the silent force, the mystery), or Sun conjunct Pholus (risk to shoot your own foot; the catalyst).  Sun in Aquarius biquintile Uranus means a creative way to be independent and free. It is a sort of an ultimate Aquarian dream that turned into a nightmare when being different and independent turned into being an alien in a hostile environment.
It is 'Mars trine Neptune' what I like to discuss here, also because of the effect of transit Neptune - Progressed Mars later.  This trine again raises questions about the harmony of trines.
Remember the chart of Sharon Tate (lots of trines) and that of one of her murderers (trines in the synastry and grand trine in chart)? Here is the link: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/03/chart-of-sharon-tate-raising-questions.html

IMPORTANCE OF MARS TRINE NEPTUNE HERE
Mars trine Neptune is important in the chart of Chris McCandless. Mars trine Neptune is the tightest aspect. Tight aspects are most important, IMO (if time of birth is important, how couldn't the tightness of aspects be?) Moreover: this aspect is between important planets in the chart. Neptune is important because Neptune rises before the Sun (spotlight on ideals, dreams and illusions). Mars is in Pisces (ruled by Neptune).

The combination of Mars and Neptune is being repeated in the transits and progressions of an important moment: when he left home. In fact: all the while, during his odyssey, the transit was valid! In June 1990 Neptune was in the 14th degree of Capricorn. In december 1990 Neptune was in the 14th degree of Capricorn, again. In september 1991 the retrograding Neptune was in that degree.
I've experienced more than once, that aspects in transit or progressions between the same couple as in the natal chart are very important, even if the distance is different. It is a repeating, resonating theme. The transit or progression fits the natal chart, like the glass shoe fitted Cinderella.

MARS+NEPTUNE
Mars-Neptune is perfect for those things that don't require too much energy. Mars-Neptune stimulates fantasy, artistry and ideals. It is good for people who work with those who are weak or ill and have to use drugs or medication. It is a nice trine for sailors, people who live isolated lives or for people working in a bar. This Mars-Neptune is a trine. I wrote about the hard aspects before:

( Mars square Neptune ) (quote)
" I have a bad example of a count in Holland who was naive enough to believe that he would be spared, but he wasn't. Natal Mars-Neptune opposition. Soon after transit Neptune conjunct Sun (being seen in a negative light, gossip) he was convicted and sentenced to death. Those were the days...a mistake, literally loosing your head... Don't I have a nice Mars-Neptune example? Yes, the chart of Rod Stewart (on Art&Astrology). He has Mars square Neptune and they didn't chop his head off!
Maybe you have some more? If you have Mars square Neptune, what is your experience? I read about a man who kept losing his job because of not 'matching with the expectations'. I have seen examples of people working in or with crime (as a lawyer, for example, fighting crime). It seems that Mars-Neptune makes you 'do it' in another world, the world of imagination or the world that the common people don't see. Perhaps they work with animals, in hospitals, as a volunteer, for their ideals? It is a complicated aspect, very confusing (...)."
It seems that trines and squares between Mars and Neptune are almost one of a kind. They can lead you  into trouble.

FEBRUARY 12, 1968
On February 12, 1968 many more persons were born, like Josh Brolyn (actor), Gregory Charles and Chynna Philips*) (singers). They didn't  go into the wild. I don't know what happened to them, but I know what happened to Chris McCandless when the Mars-Neptune combination reappeared in his chart.  And I know his background. A study of history and anthropology had given him ideas about society. He wanted to leave society and he did, with transit Neptune square progressed Mars. He died after an odyssey with transit Neptune again square Progressed Mars, almost two years later. The period just before he went 'into the wild' was a Neptune-Mars period. In that period he didn't contact his family .

WHEN HE LEFT: T Neptune square P Mars
McCandless was born February 12, 1968 in El Segundo, California and he studied history and anthropology. He left home, after donating all of his money to Oxfam, end of June, 1990. That was with transit Uranus square his Saturn, on a moment of 'breaking free'. See the chart for the other transits and progressions. And see that transit Neptune was square progressed Mars.
Here are the positions on the day of birth with transits and progressions for when he left. Watch transit Pluto trine natal Sun: he was still strong and healthy then and determined to go.

He was last seen alive on April 28, 2012. He disappeared. And when he wanted to come back, it was too late.

DEATH
This is the chart of the estimated day of death. The situation (he couldn't cross the river and was completely alone) caused his early death.
Even when he died there was a Mars-Neptune issue. On August 20, 1992 (two days after the estimated day of death) Mars was inconjunct Neptune in the 17th degree. On the 17th Mars had been inconjunct Uranus in the 15th degree. His progressed Mars was in the 16th degree. Transit Uranus/Neptune was inconjunct transit Mars and square the progressed Mars of Chris McCandless.

When he died, transit Jupiter was opposition his progressed Sun and transit Neptune sextile. The Jupiter-Neptune combination is the combination of belief and faith. These transits may have comforted him in the lonely wild in his final hours. That is why he wrote:
I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD. GOODBYE AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL!"
It looks like an act (Mars) of faith (Neptune).

Mars-Neptune isn't the kind of aspect to help you survive in the wild. It is the aspect for the poet, the dreamer, getting lost...  There is nothing romantic about dying alone, sick, thin and cold, starving. But there is something mysterious about his last years and days that inspired artists to make (Mars) a movie (Neptune) about his walk to infinity. If it is one thing that the trine 'achieved', than it is the fact that his story became a legend.

When Jupiter rules (the EC2012)

On this blog you find some 'sad' stories about Jupiter transits that didn't work or only helped a little bit to prevent "worse"... Those were single transits. When Jupiter hits a chart twice or three times in the same period, good luck and improvement have better chances to show up in a person's life. This blog is about personal experiences and ... the upcoming final match between Spain and Italy. But most of all, this blog is about Jupiter. Guilio Romano painted the picture above, the assembly of all gods around Jupiter's throne. Jupiter is the king of the gods in mythology and he wouldn't be king if he wasn't the best, the greatest and the first born (just like the planet).

Right now I have transit Jupiter square my Ascendant, trine my Moon and trine my progressed Mercury and I feel great! My energy level has risen. I could say that it is because of this or that (and there ARE this's and thats that I can't share here but believe me: it was all Jupiter related, like good advice, a trip, new glasses and even perfectly fitting shoes were part of the deal. All those things helped me to feel better than before. I even managed to be number 3 in the company's pool for a while, until yesterday. Yesterday the Italians beated the Germans just like that and I hadn't even thought of looking at the possibility of Italy reaching the semi finals! I had my focus on Germany and Spain! Read the post about the final match between them: Winners and losers in EC2012 football (an experiment). In that post I promised to be back about the subject if the match would be between different teams, and that is the case. The final will be between Italy (very strong against Germany and how they sang the hymn!:) and .... Spain. Will Spain be able to beat Italy? Here is the chart of the final moment. The positions under 'transits' are the natal positions of Prandelli (coach of Italy). Remember, there is no hour of birth, so the position of the Moon might be 7 degrees more or less.

Considering this,  I must stick to Spain like a stamp to a letter, because the Spanish coach has too many Jupiter in the chart right now to feel sad. His opponent however, has (see above) Saturn square the final moment's Ascendant and in a hard aspect with his Venus. That doesn't 'sound' like joy, does it?
The coach of Spain has his Jupiter (symbol of being successful) close to the Ascendant at that final moment. Five minutes before he is already happy. Unless the Italian coach has other reasons to be sad and Del Bosque has other reasons to be happy, it looks like a case of winning (Spain) and losing (Italy).  One swallow doesn't make a summer, but ....Del Bosque also has the progressed Sun conjunct natal Jupiter. That is perfect for retirement with a bonus. And the third important fact: transit Jupiter is square his Progressed Sun and Jupiter. Here is the chart without hour with progressions and transits for Del Bosque:

Of course, this is without time of birth and it is just speculation, but 3x Jupiter, I experienced, feels great. He could be happy with reaching the final, but would he be THIS happy, you may wonder? Also, the transit Sun opposition Del Bosque's Venus makes it a nice day for him. That is indication number four.

Well, we'll see how the ball rolls. If Spain wins, I win the 3rd place in the company's pool and that is not much (40 euro, as it seems) but enough to be glad about. So how is my chart for the final EC2012? MC will be on my Sun and MC. Great chance to see what that means!
If Italy wins the EC2012, I may have to reconsider my experimental astrological method to find the winner in the chart of the final moment by watching what sort of aspects and planets are interacting with the chart of the coaches.

So it will be a very exciting evening for me! I wish all fans of football a pleasant final!

Ferry tales

Back from a Mediterranean Sea voyage I have some 'ferry' tales related to astrology. More specific, about Jupiter and Saturn. But first I want to show you something.

ONE DAY FOR A YEAR
In Venice, at San Marco Place, I noticed this clock. Watch the zodiac signs and the 24 hours united... It reminded me of ' one day for a year'. That is term used in progressive astrology where we use a day after birth as an equivalent for a year after birth. Wiki explains it well...This picture shows it.

BTW It wasn't easy to get there, in Venice. It went the Italian way...My husband and I planned to go from our ship to San Marco Place by ferry. So we bought tickets and joined a patiently waiting man in suite and tie, (yes, of course he was an Englishman, and a very nice one:). Meanwhile, the ticket office closed, so that we couldn't ask why there was no ferry at all in 30 minutes. The Englishman said that they were supposed to arrive every 10 minutes, but as there was no schedule around, we couldn't verify this. Finally, a boat showed up. Two busy young Italians on the phone and talking with wild gestures told us that their ferry was not THE ferry (no no no, they absolutely didn't go to San Marco, they went to the airport). So again we waited in the sunshine, wondering if we should simply start walking, until, on the horizon, another boat turned up. After a total of 45 minutes waiting this ferry brought us to San Marco Place. Can you imagine what fun it was when we saw the busy young lads there, on the shore, hanging around a bit?

JUPITER
The trip started with transit Jupiter exactly square my Progressed Sun. Jupiter happens to be the international of the planets. This journey brought me in 5 different countries (Italy, Greece, Turkey, France and Spain) and I met people from Venezuela, England, USA, Philippines, Japan and even more nations. Very Jupiter! Jupiter is also the symbol of optimism. Maybe that is why I dared to sail away during Varuna square Eris (with Varuna inconjunct my Sun).

SATURN
In Izmir (Turkey) I saw this man (picture above) carrying a heavy load down hill and I immediately thought of Saturn. Saturn hit my chart, too. While I was traveling from Venice to Athens via Istanbul to Rome and Barcelona, our family dog died. You know that the natal positions of dog respond to transits and progressions as much as the charts of humans do? She was ill since a few months (see the doggy story: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2011/12/doggy-story.html ). She died with transit Saturn again (!) hitting her natal Sun, transit Neptune trine Mars and transit Uranus inconjunct Mars.

I was told when I got back, last night. Progressed Moon inconjunct Saturn and transit Saturn trine progressed Ascendant say that it was a moment for an 'ending' and a moment of goodbye with a loss involved (inconjunct). Perhaps it is also time to face real life again, after these 13 days of taking it easy. Life is not just about having a good time, seeing highlights and remarkable buildings. In fact, it would be boring if it was, they say. I am not convinced, yet. I have to do the laundry...

Jupiter and the Knox appeal

In the earlier post about the Knox appeal I said that I would be back on the subject. Amanda Knox is on her way back home now. She and Raffaele Sollecito have been found innocent. (Amanda was found guilty of slaunder, however.) This post is about the effect of (transit) Jupiter in her 12th house. You see, she has a number of aspects of transit Jupiter now as you can see in the included chart. This transit of Jupiter was square natal Midheaven and sesquisquare progressed Sun/Moon, inconjunct progressed Descendant and inconjunct AC/MC and Jupiter is in the natal 12th house. I, too, have a twelfth-house-Jupiter and when I had transit Jupiter conjunct Jupiter all that happened was that I was saved from things that could have been worse*), like Else Parker wrote in 1953. She said: "Jupiter’s transit through the 12th house contributes to to the idea that all dark and difficult things ‘ might have been worse".
OCTOBER 3, 2011

Quote:
The chart above shows the transits and progressions with the natal chart of Amanda Knox.

In a normal situation the number of transits of Mars and Jupiter in a tight aspect with her Ascendant, Midheaven and Uranus could indicate relief, at least and more positively: a success. Also, transit Jupiter on the midpoint Sun/Moon in the progressed chart is a positive indication. Jupiter is important in the chart of Amanda Knox (rising before the Sun and ruling the Moon in Sagittarius), so the transits of Jupiter are important as well. The 12th house position of natal and transit Jupiter sometimes has a strange effect, however. I also don't want to underestimate Saturn's transit sesquisquare the progressed Midheaven, even if that transit isn't exact any more, even though there is growing belief in the innocence of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito. There is also growing hope in the chart of Amanda Knox.

Jupiter, the first born

When I read that a missile named Juno was on her way to 'husband' Jupiter, I notice the remark that Jupiter is the first born planet of our Sun. That explains. It explains the frequency of angular Jupiters in charts of royal heirs (kings to be, first born). I have Jupiter on the Ascendant and I also was the first born child.

First born...It is another way to read Jupiter in a chart. I know that in history the first born son of a farmer got all of the property while the others had to find something else to do to make a living. Being first born was a privilige...(sic). Women like me were not to inherit the land, unless there was no boy. They could of course marry another first born. I did:)  However, today laws changed and the angular Jupiter of my chart in my position and circumstances doesn't give me a better start. Or does it? First borns get more attention, at first...

Check the label Royalty at the bottom to see the mumber of prominent Jupiters on the charts of those born with blue blood and those who were or are to be king, like for example Prince Willem-Alexander and Prince William. Given their circumstances they may expect to benefit from their rank in family births.

Jupiter, Uranus, acquittal (re: Casey Anthony)

Jupiter/Uranus has proven to be solid as gold when it comes to happy surprises for the accused in a case. Even when Transit Saturn is inconjunct Midheaven and even when there is a Sun sesquisquare Saturn in the progressed chart, one can be acquitted if there is enough Jupiter-Uranus.

Casey Anthony still has to spend time in jail (and perhaps the transit of Jupiter in March 2012 sets her free), but she will not be executed. That is a relief for her, of course and reliefs are related to Jupiter-Uranus combinations (the 'Thank God' construction).

Yesterday Casey Anthony had transit Sun trine Progressed Jupiter and square natal Venus. It was a good day. But that is 'peanuts'.  The starring role is for the Jupiter-Uranus combination:

1. In the progressed chart (here above) the Moon is sesquisquare Jupiter/Uranus midpoint
2. Transit Jupiter and Uranus (with Chiron) are in a less than 1 degree orb aspect with the natal meridian (MC/IC)
3. Transit Pholus conjunct natal Jupiter/Uranus apparently promises a positive turn, too.

Here is the progressed chart with transits. For the natal charts, see the links (scroll down).

Casey Anthony's acquittal is surprising, but can be explained. There was not enough (or no) direct evidence against her and she doesn't look like a murderer (she is pretty), so there was reasonable doubt, even though instinct tells you that there is something very wrong and that she is lying. The sudden turn in the case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn was accompanied by Jupiter-Uranus as wel:
1. The transit of Jupiter conjunct his Sun and
2. Transit Jupiter sextile the progressed Sun, with
3. Transit Uranus square progressed Sun
In the case of O.J. Simpson we see the same Jupiter-Uranus combination on the day that the jury found him not guilty:

Transit Jupiter/Uranus midpoint conjunct IC and square Ascendant with Progressed Sun in minor aspect (75d) with natal Jupiter.

I tend to believe that there is no stronger effect than Jupiter-Uranus. It always helps, but perhaps it helps you more when you happen to be a black idol, a beautiful young woman or a rich and famous man.
When I had Uranus conjunct Jupiter I had great news about my health and I won't forget that day. It felt as if I was acquitted, facing a  ' death sentence'. But maybe that is because Jupiter-Uranus is important in my chart (Jupiter/Uranus in hard aspect with Sun, MC and Moon, ruling Sun and Moon, Jupiter angular conjunct Ascendant and Uranus the focal planet). So let us see if Jupiter-Uranus is also important in the charts of DSK, OJ and CA.

DSK
In the chart of Dominque Strauss-Kahn Jupiter and Uranus are in minor aspect with Midheaven (sesquisemisquare -67.5 and binovile), with an angular Jupiter in Aquarius, on the Descendant.

OJ
In the chart of O.J. Simpson Jupiter is angular (opposition MC) and Uranus rises before the Sun. The midpoint of the prominent Jupiter and Uranus is in aspect with the elevated Mars.  The Sun is trine Jupiter and half semi square Uranus. Here is the chart with transits and progression for October 3, 1995:

CA
The chart of Casey Anthony has Jupiter rising before the Sun. Uranus is in Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter). Jupiter and Uranus are in aspect with Mars and (very tightly) with the angular Pluto on IC.
