The Fukushima disaster chart and progressions

When I studied the progressed chart of the Fukushima disaster, I noticed how speedy Mercury was in those days. See the chart, and you know what I mean. There was an applying Mercury-Pluto square (nearly 5d orb) that perfected almost 2,5 days = 2,5 years after March 11, 2013. That is now, now that they communicated (Mercury) about a problem (Pluto) and danger (Pluto), that was 'born' on March 11, 2011.

I will have a special eye for applying aspects from now on to see if they have more impact later, than separating aspects have. 

Here is the chart with transits and progressions.

The Astro ID of the chart is:
- Sun in Pisces in 8th house is 'calling' (separating quintile with Pluto)
- Mars in Pisces in 8th house is 'calling' and rising before the Sun
- Neptune ruler 8 + ruler Sun and Mars is 'calling'
Sun/Neptune=Mars (Mars between Sun and Neptune)
The important Sun, Mars and Neptune sort of scream about a day when the god of the seas was at war, a day for a disaster. But the chart doesn't scream 'disaster'.

I posted about the mediocre charts of main disasters before (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/02/mediocre-chart-positions-of.html ) and commented lated that there was a Pholus/Quaoar/Varuna midpoint combination in the charts of the Laki*) and Krakatau disaster. There is no such combination in the Fukushima chart, but there is a different and more complicated 'link'. There are minor and major aspects between Pholus, Quaoar and Varanu, created by Sun, Saturn and Pluto:
- In the Fukushima chart there is an inconjunct aspect of Quaoar (22d52 Sagittarius) and Varuna (21d10 Cancer), while Pholus is at 17d54 Sagittarius.
- Saturn is biquintile Quaoar and 157.5 d MC.
- Midpoint Quaoar/Varuna is square Pluto and Pluto is quintile Sun.
- The Sun is square Pholus/Quaoar and trine Varuna.
(Nessus and Sedna are also involved in this picture.)

MORE ASPECTS
An event chart requires narrow orbs, especially the orbs with MC and Ascendant. This is the chart of a special moment in time and place that had it's consequences. The minor aspects and the 'unusual' guys seem to make a difference in this chart.

The Moon is in the very first minutes of Gemini. There is an applying sesquisquare with Saturn, and that is a nasty aspect to look forward to, perfecting within a few hours on that day and within a few months in the progressed chart.
There is also a trine with Pallas, even closer.

Saturn is biquintile Quaoar. This mirrors the creation of a finale. Saturn is 157.5 d MC and that is a sesquisquare + half semi square.

The strongest aspect is that of Quaoar sesquisquare Midheaven.

In total the MC gives the tightest and strongest message.
Midheaven is trine Pluto, sesquisquare Quaoar and Juno, quintile Varuna, 75d Nessus, quintile Ceres, novile Lillith, half semi square Moon and there is the mentioned 157.5 d aspect with Saturn. The IC is quindecile Eris.

If you'd only consider the major aspect of MC trine Pluto you'd only notice an intense, challenging and dangerous moment THERE, causing stress and pressure. Such a moment happens every day, everywhere.  Here is was a moment for an earth quake, relieving stress and pressure. It takes more information to qualify the event. That shows that one single aspect doesn't tell the story...

BIRTHS IN DISASTER TIME
The aspects of charts are valid for more hours and minutes, some even for a major part of the day. Charts should be read in their context. When you were born with the above chart, you are probably someone who knows how to be in the center of attention, who can be very productive and/or very lazy (depending on what you do) and who knows how to deal with challenges and danger (simply by choosing an easy way out). It doesn't mean that you are 'a disaster':).

Neptune inconjunct Varuna and the water drain

Or should the title be: Neptune inconjunct Varuna and leaking lavatories? I didn't want to be rude, but in fact: this IS about dirty water and more during Neptune-Varuna progressions.

One of my aunts is 88 years old and lives in a so called appartment building for the elderly. "So called" because lately they started filling the old and never renovated building with ex-detainees. The tattood guys live amid the feable and ill oldies. It is affordable, but since a year there are more and more problems. The carpets curl, the elevators are out of order and/or there are water problems (veteran disease risks). Worse is that this Virgo lady, who is very very clean and hates dirt, had to endure a "renovation" of the drain pipes because they were leaking from above (...) , later her toilet refused to flush and now she told me that the plumber was in her house to fix a dirty problem coming from the pipes of the upper appartments.

Of course I wondered how this was reflected in her chart. It was in her progressed chart (so it won't last forever) like this:

- progressed Neptune (sea, drain) inconjunct Varuna (waters)
- progressed Sun was trine Neptune since 5 months (she accepted that she doesn't leave her house any more now that she is ill*)
- progressed Sun square Varuna (the battle with the god of waters)

Isn't it accurate of that chart?

*) Pope Benedict also has a Sun trine Neptune progressed aspect now that he retreats.

Ferry tales

Back from a Mediterranean Sea voyage I have some 'ferry' tales related to astrology. More specific, about Jupiter and Saturn. But first I want to show you something.

ONE DAY FOR A YEAR
In Venice, at San Marco Place, I noticed this clock. Watch the zodiac signs and the 24 hours united... It reminded me of ' one day for a year'. That is term used in progressive astrology where we use a day after birth as an equivalent for a year after birth. Wiki explains it well...This picture shows it.

BTW It wasn't easy to get there, in Venice. It went the Italian way...My husband and I planned to go from our ship to San Marco Place by ferry. So we bought tickets and joined a patiently waiting man in suite and tie, (yes, of course he was an Englishman, and a very nice one:). Meanwhile, the ticket office closed, so that we couldn't ask why there was no ferry at all in 30 minutes. The Englishman said that they were supposed to arrive every 10 minutes, but as there was no schedule around, we couldn't verify this. Finally, a boat showed up. Two busy young Italians on the phone and talking with wild gestures told us that their ferry was not THE ferry (no no no, they absolutely didn't go to San Marco, they went to the airport). So again we waited in the sunshine, wondering if we should simply start walking, until, on the horizon, another boat turned up. After a total of 45 minutes waiting this ferry brought us to San Marco Place. Can you imagine what fun it was when we saw the busy young lads there, on the shore, hanging around a bit?

JUPITER

The trip started with transit Jupiter exactly square my Progressed Sun. Jupiter happens to be the international of the planets. This journey brought me in 5 different countries (Italy, Greece, Turkey, France and Spain) and I met people from Venezuela, England, USA, Philippines, Japan and even more nations. Very Jupiter! Jupiter is also the symbol of optimism. Maybe that is why I dared to sail away during Varuna square Eris (with Varuna inconjunct my Sun). 

SATURN 

In Izmir (Turkey) I saw this man (picture above) carrying a heavy load down hill and I immediately thought of Saturn. Saturn hit my chart, too. While I was traveling from Venice to Athens via Istanbul to Rome and Barcelona, our family dog died. You know that the natal positions of dog respond to transits and progressions as much as the charts of humans do? She was ill since a few months (see the doggy story: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2011/12/doggy-story.html ). She died with transit Saturn again (!) hitting her natal Sun, transit Neptune trine Mars and transit Uranus inconjunct Mars. 

I was told when I got back, last night. Progressed Moon inconjunct Saturn and transit Saturn trine progressed Ascendant say that it was a moment for an 'ending' and a moment of goodbye with a loss involved (inconjunct). Perhaps it is also time to face real life again, after these 13 days of taking it easy. Life is not just about having a good time, seeing highlights and remarkable buildings. In fact, it would be boring if it was, they say. I am not convinced, yet. I have to do the laundry...

Cruises, Pisces, Neptune and Varuna

A few months ago I booked a cruise in the Mediterranean Sea. We will sail from Venice to Barcelona, via Athens, Istanbul, Izmir, Napels and Rome. It will be our fourth cruise. Earlier we went to Norway (twice) and to the Baltic (Saint Petersburg,  Helsinki, Stockholm, Kopenhagen and Tallinn; we plan to 'do' all European capitals, so still some to go:). 

My Pisces Ascendant conjunct Jupiter might explain why I like cruises, even though I get seasick when it storms. This position makes it easy to spoil yourself, too! So it is perfectly in line with a relaxed (I hope!) trip at sea. 

The sea is part of Pisces in the astrological vocabulary and so is Neptune. Disasters at sea happen now and then, but this ship (Costa Concordia) and the Titanic hit something solid with a (not exact) minor aspect between Neptune (god of the sea) and Varuna (the symbol of the god of the waters). The Titanic disaster had Neptune sesquisquare Varuna. Costa Concordia had Neptune biquintile Varuna. Also, the position of Varuna on January 13, 2012 is square the Ascendant of the moment when the Titanic sank. And there was Sun opposition Varuna on January 13...

It might just be coincidence. But it was reason enough for me to have a look at the astrological positions during my cruise, as Neptune (and Varuna) move slowly. Luckily there is no connection between them. 

Now I wonder about captains: are Neptune, Pisces and Varuna good positions for a captain or an officer on board? Will they be attracted by the sea? Or do people with these influences act like I do: avoid a profession with lives at risk and try to have important data checked by another person, because they know that it is hard not to 'drift off' or forget about things. Neptune/Pisces is very distracting. For example: I should have done that checking when I thought to have found the day of birth of the captain of the Costa Concordia. He looks younger than he is!:)

Disaster Japan and the Emperor's chart

The leader's chart (that of a president or coach) often, if not always, resonates what happens to the nation, club or group of people that he or she is responsible for or taking care of.
The chart of the Japanese Emperor Akihito is also mirroring the nation's situation and of course: his own concern. He was born with the Sun in the first degree of Capricorn. That is exactly square the position of Uranus at Zero Aries, now.
Watch the transits and progressions for March 11, the day of the earthquake and tsunami. 

1. Transit Uranus is square with natal Sun and quindecile Midheaven
2. Progressed Varuna is getting closer to an opposition with Midheaven
3. Transit Saturn is on natal Midheaven and 75d Sun, and opposition  Varuna.
4. Transit Quaoar is square progressed Ascendant.
5. In the progressed chart Mars is sesquisquare Midheaven.
Mars, Saturn, Uranus with Varuna and Quaoar...

Varuna is the symbol of floods (the ancient God of the Waters). This symbol is angular in the natal cart of the Emperor, reflecting the importance of the theme.
Uranus is the symbol of shocks.. And Saturn is the symbol of anything that breaks. With Saturn on Midheaven there is concern and there are obligations/duties. With Uranus square Sun there is a nervous situation. Quaoar-Ascendant refers to perspectives.

Charts of earthquakes (like in Christchurch yesterday)

Disaster after disaster in Australia and New Zealand... Yesterday a terrible earthquake shook the earth of Christchurch NZ.

URANUS, VARUNA
There are a number of posts about earth quakes on Astropost. Uranus was often 'part of the picture'and that is not miraculous, because Uranus is the symbol of everyting that is 'shocking'. Yesterday's earthquake in Christchurch has the midpoint of Ascendnat and Midheaven opposition Uranus (Ascendant 39.1 + MC 318.5 = 357.7/2=178.35 + 180 = 358.35 = 28-29 Pisces = position of Uranus). Uranus is just one of the components. It takes more for such an event. Every day there is a moment that AC/MC = Uranus...Yesterday, Mercury, Mars and Neptune were semi sextile Uranus. Mars/Saturn was semi square Pholus (destructive turning point. And Sun/Moon was inconjunct Varuna with Moon inconjunct Ascendant, perhaps illustrating what happened with the gletscher when parts of the ice fell into the water. Inconjunctions cause lack of balance (just like semi sextiles do). The Sun sesquisquare Saturn symbolizes a frustrating day in general.  It is the combination that counts.

There are (minor and major) earth- and seaquakes every day and there is a potential for disaster almost every day. There may be more indications in the chart, making this chart a special moment in time with special potential for disaster. I think that charts of disasters also show us the importance of seeing the chart related to the situation and circumstances. And that is not different from how to read natal charts at all...

Today 69 years ago, on the day of his arrest transit Pluto is inconjunct the natal Sun. That is an astrological warning for life threatening danger and stress.. This transit remained active during the next six months , until he died (July 26). Also progressed Mercury is inconjunct Midheaven (remember that it were his words and his opinion about the nazis and what they did to the Jews that brought him in this position). Varuna, floods, Australia and Brazil

The God Varuna

There have been horrible floods in Queensland Australia and in Brazil. Saturn and Varuna are making hard aspects with Australia's natal and progressed chart.  Varuna is conjunct Brazil's Sun/Moon midpoint and quindecile the nation's IC with Saturn in the first house. Varuna is the God of the water and the seas. Astro.com was so kind to publish the ephemeris of Varuna.

Varuna, the symbol of floods and waters, is in hard aspect with the Ascendant of the Australian natal chart (that I found on Astrodatabank). Varuna is quindecile the nation's Saturn.
The progressed chart of Australia has Varuna close to the ascendant and transit Saturn inconjunct the progressed Midheaven. That seems to be illustrating the situation. Above is the progressed chart, with transits. Below is the Ausralian natal chart with transits.

There are also floods in Brazil. Above is the chart of the discovery of Brazil*) (source = Astrodatabank, rating = A). Transit Varuna in the 23rd degree of Cancer is quindecile the natal IC and conjunct the natal Sun/Moon midpoint. (Just calculate: (32+193)/2=112.5=23rd of Cancer).

MORE VARUNA...
When Ed Stafford walked along the Amazone, his progressed Sun was trine Varuna all the time (During his 859 day journey, the progressed Sun was trine Varuna (symbol of the waters!) and square Quaoar (new realities!).

When there was an earth quake followed by a tsunami in Chili, Varuna was on the Descendant at location (see the complete post here). This is the chart of that moment and place.

Ed Stafford, the Amazone and his birthday

This post is about the time unknown chart of the man who walked 2,5 years along the river Amazone (see the map). His name is Ed Stafford and he was born December 26, 1975 in Peterborough, England. He started his journey on April 2, 2008 and completed it last week. Two aspects on his day of birth resonated in the transits and progressions during these 859 days: Mars-Jupiter and Sun-Uranus.  Now he is a successful explorer. 

SUN-URANUS

The journey in an unknown and uneasy part of the world is a Sun-Uranus journey: an adventure and enstrangement are included. About two years ago the progressed Sun was square (progressed) Uranus and that is an important symbol of changing lifestyle. In his natal chart the Sun is sextile Uranus (for an easy way out to adventure and to independence.

MARS-JUPITER

Progressed Mars was sextile Jupiter and showing ‘successful efforts’ and ‘increasing energy’  during the complete period. In the natal chart Mars is sextile Jupiter and in the progressed chart the sextile perfected. Mission completed!

MORE OBSERVATIONS

Uranus inconjunct Pholus re: David Laws

Early this morning I studied the chart of someone who lost his child with a) Transit Pholus in 5 inconjunct ruler 8 Uranus and b) Progressed Pholus in the 5th sextile transit Uranus in the 8th. Inconjunctions cause disbalance, often due to a lost. Uranus takes you by surprise and Pholus can cause damage or turn your world upside down.

Uranus inconjunct Pholus can also put a person out of balance because of sudden turning point in life or he/she may suffer a lost (inconjunction) because of damaging (Pholus) news (Uranus). That is like in the case of David Laws. He just lost his job in the government of Cameron (he was Chief Secretary to the Treasury), within 14 days from the start. In his former job he had claimed 40.000 pounds on his secret second house expenses (ment for his secret lover) and that is against the rules (only) since 2006 (was it OK before then to have the taxpayer pay for a lover's nest in the UK, I wonder?).

Liberal Democrat Laws lost his job with progressed Uranus exactly inconjunct progressed Pholus (see the chart). The natal inconjunction has grown tighter and tighter to reach this point of no return. Not only has he lost his job, his hidden homosexuality has now been made public and it is exactly that what he had wished to conceal for whatever reason. Could the aspect also mean that a new episode in life has begun, but in a rather disastrous and shocking way?

I have not found more indications in the chart of the person who lost his child, in spite of having an HOB, so maybe this double Uranus-Pholus and the inconjunction related to the 8th house was just about enough reflection.
Also, I couldn't find much more in the chart of the day of birth of David Laws (who had a single Uranus-Pluto combination today in I don't know what houses).
That makes me think that the Uranus-Pholus inconjunction is a very strong reflection of a dramatic change. At least, that is what I saw in these two chart. I will be back later with more material.

BTW I found that the name of Pholus is related to moths (night butterflies) and I found a reference to ' Fly' by Celine Dion in an essay about this site " Winged planets" , also about the effect of Pholus in natal charts.

And notice that Mercury in Gemini is the final dispositor of Midheaven, indicating the importance of communications and ideas in his professional life.

Uranus-MC and the Deep Horizon (Gulf) Explosion

Stepping from the site of Lynne Hayes to the link to Lucky in Love, I started wondering about Uranus-MC in the chart of this explosion,because I found so many Uranus-MC-aspects in the charts of explosions and yes: Uranus is quindecile (165 degrees) Midheaven. Uranus is the symbol of the flash. More examples? See the label 'Úranus' or 'Accidents'.

Another interesting observation: Varuna (God of the Ocean) at 20 Cancer, sesquisquare Ascendant and quindecile Ceres (symbol of mother Earth). For more astrological ideas about the disaster I like to refer to other sites:

Dresden, Pholus and Varuna

Not more than 200.000 but 25.000 people of different nationalities (Germans and prisoners) were killed during the bombings of Dresden on February 13, 14 and 15 1945, an investigation team found out and published in an official report. It happened decades ago and Dresden has been restored, but at the time it must have been like living hell. Many of the bombs were incendiaries and they created a fire storm. The bombing has always been controversial, because of the number of lost lives of civilians. Pholus, Varuna and Uranus were in tight aspect with the meridian of that moment in wartime, reflecting destruction.

The first bomb was dropped at 22:13 CET. The chart of that moment has Uranus semi square Midheaven. Pholus is exactly opposition Midheaven and square Varuna.
- Varuna appeared on an angle in the chart of the earthquake in Chili. I found an interesting article about Varuna (‘Angel or Demon’), by Denis Kutalyov (link)…
- I mentioned Pholus (here on the IC) in an earlier post and referred to an article about the meaning of Pholus, that you can see on Kentauren info…

Together, in that time of war, supported by Uranus and in tight aspect with the angles they are reflecting times of destruction here.

Chart of the earthquake in Chile

This is the chart of a heavy earthquake followed by a tsunami in Chile, starting at 3:34 local time in the region of Concepcion*). Saturn is exactly on Midheaven. In the chart of the earthquake in Haiti, Saturn was also on the meridian (on the IC). Varuna (named after the Indian god of the waters) is on the Descendant, opposition the Node.
