Grand Crosses, Mars-Eris, nuances and New Moon chart 2015

Yesterday, I was surfing on the Internet when I found an interview with an astrologer who said to fear the Grand Cross of April, and particularly on April 15 and in the USA. I was confused. There is no Grand Cross in April.

Then I realized that it was about the Grand Cross of April 2014. On April 15 the Grand Cross wasn't exact. I think that 'April 15' was mentioned because of the lunar eclipse (visible in the America's and Australia/New Zeeland only). Well, on April 15, 2014 there was no catastrophe in the USA (not a natural one and neither in politics) but there is always one somewhere. This time, in Africa, Boko Haram abducted hundreds of girls and ruined their and their family's lives. The day after there was a disaster with a cruise ship in Korea. But nothing that changed the world in the USA.

Now I learned that major earth quakes have rather mediocre charts for the day of the event (see about catastrophic eruptions: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/02/mediocre-chart-positions-of.html Those were the kind of eruptions that caused hunger all over the world for years!). So, given these historical facts, I don’t expect a catastrophe when there is a Grand Cross, because I ask myself:

How many catastrophes happened with a tight Grand Cross? (And how many without?)**)

The aspect reflects tension, but not necessarily an event of Grand Importance on the specific day. However, here is some nuance: big events have a long shadow ahead. 

Charts of Astrological New Year and the First New Moon of the year, carry information about the months ahead. So it was in 2014.

2014 was the year when the conflict in Ukrain turned into civil war and the nations with nuclear power choose their sides. On June 29 ISIS renamed itself Islamic State and we know what happened next. And on July 17 hundreds of innocent civilians lost their lives when a rocket hit their plane above Ukraine. Nobody could have predicted these events in details. But there is a danger of conflicts in the important charts of 2014. Here are some posts on Astropost, published ahead of that danger:

1. The New Moon chart (Mars opposition Eris and Eris inconjunct Saturn)

The chart had Mars opposition Eris and Eris inconjunct Saturn. It is not a pleasant chart.

‘Around the 10th of July Mars will be opposite Uranus and square Pluto again. And later that month Mars will again be opposite Eris. Does that promise conflicts again in July? I hope not.’

2. Putin and the Grand Cross

In April of 2014, I wrote about the Grand Square (or Grand Cross) hitting the chart of Vladimir Putin in 2014. He is still around, and there is still the danger of a growing conflict in Europe as his troops and the troops of NATO keep testing at the edge of dangerous borders. In 2014 he conquered Crimia.

3. The sad day: Mars afflicted in July 2014

Grand Crosses may not directly ‘inflict’ or ‘cause’ international catastrophes, but there is tension and that shows. So don’t expect the catastrophe to start at the very moment of the aspect, but be aware of what happens next, especially in regions of tension and (more personal) when you are in a stressful situation. Grand Crosses are rare and so are catastrophes, but they don’t necessarily occur at the same moment. The Grand Cross of April 2014 for me personally didn’t bring much tension. I was preparing for a holiday. The degrees didn’t ‘hit’ my chart. If it hit yours, tension might have thrown a shadow ahead for the next period in 2014. 

HOW ABOUT 2015?

In the light of what is been written above, it’s not a good sign that Mars is conjunct Eris in the chart of Astrological New Year 2015, either*) But maybe I should explain that there are

conjunctions of Mars and Eris every (about) 2 year and that doesn’t start a World War. There are military conflicts going on all the time. Conflicts don’t need a Mars conjunct Eris to begin. 

I decided to publish the chart of the first New Moon in the new astrological year, because I found that chart more descriptive for the year than the chart of Zero Aries. As New Moon was on 'New Year's Eve' of the Astrological New Year, we have to wait till April 18 for that First New Moon. In the chart of that moment, we see Sun conjunct Moon (of course), both trine Quaoar and biquintile Saturn. Now I know that it is ‘just’ Quaoar and ‘just’ a minor aspect but I like to see the symbol of new horizons, for all, and the aspect of creating stability. It is so much better than Mars conjunct Eris. So let’s believe in that chart! It might help. Why else do politicians in India offer gift to the gods in order to make their bad charts work better on April 23 (elections***)? They do so for ages and I haven’t read (yet) that it is no use:). The start of World War 1, the chart of Gavrilo Princip

One hundred years ago Gavrilo Princip, a nationalist Bosnian Serb, assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and Sophie, his wife. It happened on June 28, 1914 in Sarajevo.  A newspaper said today that he is the most successful terrorist ever, because eventually he reached his goal, long after death, however. Let’s see his chart with transits and progressions for the day of the murder.

What kind of a chart has he? Here you see the natal with transits and progressions for June 28, 1914.

I think that first of all he wanted to be significant (Sun calling!) and successful. A key characteristic is that he is o do-er (active, aggressive) and serious, too. He is a believer/follower or has followers with Jupiter/Neptune angular. 

The most personal and individual points in a chart are the midpoints AC/MC and Sun/Moon. They show us what might happen. His AC/MC is in hard aspect with the Northern Node, telling us about the importance of groups and being part of it.

His Sun/Moon is in hard aspect with Mars/Uranus (the midpoint of acceleration and accidents, surgery, taking measures right away, terrorism and freedom fighters).  Sun/Moon midpoint semi square Quaoar definitely gives away what he intended to do and what motivated him: shaping a whole new reality, a new world, by means of an act of surprise.

Also, the tight aspect 'Sun square Pholus' seems to fit the idea of shooting your own feet being the catalyst. 

A key aspect is Mars opposite Saturn on the meridian (discipline, the importance of death and death ends, ‘heroism’). It is an aspect for a warrior or a soldier, someone with a deathly weapon. The placement on the meridian tells us about the importance of this aspect.

Eris, exactly square his Ascendant, symbolizes discord and disharmony.

There are more details, like the placement of the 'calling' Sun in the eight house, but why mention all the details? We could also have a look at the situation. He was very young and part of a group named 'The Black Hand'. He was ill. He was small and he was weak. And still, he managed to became notorious (Sun), a questionable hero (Mars opposite Saturn) and a person who succeeded (Jupiter transits/progressions) to become the symbol of a turning point in history (Sun square Pholus) when he acted on impulse with heart and soul (Sun/Moon - Mars/Uranus) to create (Quaoar) a change. 

Killing a monarch is not the way we like to change the world. This killer had Uranus inconjunct Pluto on the day of his birth in the year of the Dreyfuss affair (see: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/04/w.html ) On the day that he successfully assassinated the (in his eyes) suppressor of his people, he had transit Jupiter sesquisquare progressed Midheaven and opposite progressed Sun.

He was content.  One hundred years later most of his goals have been reached.

THE DAY OF HIS DEATH

He died within 4 years of tuberculosis. Previous to his final day, transits of Saturn and Neptune had already weakened him. They even had to amputate his arm. See the chart:

On his final day he had an astrological significant aspect combination for a final day: the progressed ruler of the 4^th house (ruling the Moon, ruler of the 8^th house) was conjunct the Moon, ruler of the 8^th house. The 8^th house is the house of crisis, life and death. The 4^th house is about (as I see it) ‘going home’ (back to basics).  There is again a Sun-Jupiter aspect. The progressed Sun sextile Jupiter ruler 1 made it easy to move on to a better place.

Quaoar and new worlds

This is the chart of Edward Shackleton, a courageous explorer and role model of a leader keeping his team together (and rescuing them). This Aquarian had Quaoar on his Descendant. The axis Ascendant-Descendant can be seen as 'your horizon' and Quaoar is on that spot: 'new worlds on the horizon'. His new worlds were icy cold and perhaps the Capricorn Ascendant likes it 'cool':).

Quaoar is a dwarf planet (like Pluto now) in the Kuiper Belt, named after a Tvonga deity of cretions (another name for Quaoar is Chiniqchinix). If Quaoar is prominent in your chart, creating and shaping new worlds, possibilities and realities is a key theme in your life. 

Here are some ideas about aspects with Quaoar, with examples. 

• Sun-Quaoar
  When Quaoar is the first object rising before the Sun (the object that your finger meets when you move your finger clockwise over the chart, starting with the Sun), you are probably a person who finds more possibilities and perspective than others do. This enables you to 'shape your own life'.
  Difficult aspects between Sun and Quaoar could reflect the person who creates his own problems. I think of Dominique Strauss Kahn with Sun inconjunct Quaoar.

• Moon-Quaoar
  President Obama has an aspect between Moon and Quaoar in the natal chart. This enables him to shape the emotional atmosphere and ...it gives the need to create new possibilities and realities. Unfortunately the aspect is a sesquisquare and that is frustrating him. This aspect might also mirror difficulties in adapting to new situations. Ernest Shackleton had Moon inconjunct Quaoar. 

• Sun/Moon-Quaoar 
  Midpoint Sun/Moon in hard aspect with Quaoar is motivating strongly to create new perspectives. This urge to shape a 'new world' is present in the chart of David Cameron, the British PM. 

• Mercury-Quaoar
  A beneficial aspect between Mercury and Quaoar could work out like in the chart of Steve Jobs (Mercury trine Quaoar) as 'creative ideas'. 

• Venus-Quaoar
  First I had no examples for this combination that could make the world a better place, but then I remembered the song of Michael Jackson ('make the world a better place, for me and for you...lalalala'), who's chart has Venus in a narrow sextile with Quaoar. 
  
  
• Mars-Quaoar
  How to shape competition? Mars afflicted by Quaoar is an aggressive drive to fight to create new realities. Ahmadinejad's chart has Mars semi square Quaoar. 

• Ascendant-Quaoar
  Barack Obama has Ascendant trine Quaoar and he is the man of the new perspectives. Think of Shackleton's Quaoar on the Descendant, opposition Ascendant and how he explored new worlds. The Quaoar trine is much easier. It is the symbol for a man who sees the light sooner than others do. 

Quaoar is essential when this object is in a square, conjunction or opposition with midpoint Ascendant/MC or when there is an aspect with both Ascendant and Midheaven.

The Fukushima disaster chart and progressions

When I studied the progressed chart of the Fukushima disaster, I noticed how speedy Mercury was in those days. See the chart, and you know what I mean. There was an applying Mercury-Pluto square (nearly 5d orb) that perfected almost 2,5 days = 2,5 years after March 11, 2013. That is now, now that they communicated (Mercury) about a problem (Pluto) and danger (Pluto), that was 'born' on March 11, 2011.

I will have a special eye for applying aspects from now on to see if they have more impact later, than separating aspects have. 

Here is the chart with transits and progressions.

The Astro ID of the chart is:
- Sun in Pisces in 8th house is 'calling' (separating quintile with Pluto)
- Mars in Pisces in 8th house is 'calling' and rising before the Sun
- Neptune ruler 8 + ruler Sun and Mars is 'calling'
Sun/Neptune=Mars (Mars between Sun and Neptune)
The important Sun, Mars and Neptune sort of scream about a day when the god of the seas was at war, a day for a disaster. But the chart doesn't scream 'disaster'.

I posted about the mediocre charts of main disasters before (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/02/mediocre-chart-positions-of.html ) and commented lated that there was a Pholus/Quaoar/Varuna midpoint combination in the charts of the Laki*) and Krakatau disaster. There is no such combination in the Fukushima chart, but there is a different and more complicated 'link'. There are minor and major aspects between Pholus, Quaoar and Varanu, created by Sun, Saturn and Pluto:
- In the Fukushima chart there is an inconjunct aspect of Quaoar (22d52 Sagittarius) and Varuna (21d10 Cancer), while Pholus is at 17d54 Sagittarius.
- Saturn is biquintile Quaoar and 157.5 d MC.
- Midpoint Quaoar/Varuna is square Pluto and Pluto is quintile Sun.
- The Sun is square Pholus/Quaoar and trine Varuna.
(Nessus and Sedna are also involved in this picture.)

MORE ASPECTS
An event chart requires narrow orbs, especially the orbs with MC and Ascendant. This is the chart of a special moment in time and place that had it's consequences. The minor aspects and the 'unusual' guys seem to make a difference in this chart.

The Moon is in the very first minutes of Gemini. There is an applying sesquisquare with Saturn, and that is a nasty aspect to look forward to, perfecting within a few hours on that day and within a few months in the progressed chart.
There is also a trine with Pallas, even closer.

Saturn is biquintile Quaoar. This mirrors the creation of a finale. Saturn is 157.5 d MC and that is a sesquisquare + half semi square.

The strongest aspect is that of Quaoar sesquisquare Midheaven.

In total the MC gives the tightest and strongest message.
Midheaven is trine Pluto, sesquisquare Quaoar and Juno, quintile Varuna, 75d Nessus, quintile Ceres, novile Lillith, half semi square Moon and there is the mentioned 157.5 d aspect with Saturn. The IC is quindecile Eris.

If you'd only consider the major aspect of MC trine Pluto you'd only notice an intense, challenging and dangerous moment THERE, causing stress and pressure. Such a moment happens every day, everywhere.  Here is was a moment for an earth quake, relieving stress and pressure. It takes more information to qualify the event. That shows that one single aspect doesn't tell the story...

BIRTHS IN DISASTER TIME
The aspects of charts are valid for more hours and minutes, some even for a major part of the day. Charts should be read in their context. When you were born with the above chart, you are probably someone who knows how to be in the center of attention, who can be very productive and/or very lazy (depending on what you do) and who knows how to deal with challenges and danger (simply by choosing an easy way out). It doesn't mean that you are 'a disaster':).

*) The Laki disaster 1783 chart also has Mars rising before the Sun.

Crime and fantasy in Thomas Quick's chart

There is a reason for the symbol of confusion above this post. This is about the confusing mix of fantasy and crime in the chart of Thomas Quick (born as: Sture Ragnar Bergwall). Thomas Quick was born in Sweden on April 26, 1950. He lives in a psychiatric institution since 1990, after a bank robbery. He confessed a number of murders, but some of the victims turned up alive and well, others were never found. What he did or didn't do is unknown. His hour of birth is unknown, too.  It is certain that he committed a crime, but uncertain what and when or why.
Here are 10 observations about his chart. There are 9 keys to his convincing lies in the natal chart and when he was convicted in 1990, you see the planet of fantasy in an interesting aspect.

This is the chart with transits and progressions of the day when they convicted him for being criminally insane. He was taken to a hospital and that is when he started to 'confess' more crimes and murders.

Here are 10 astrological reasons for the story of the life of Thomas Quick.

1. The aspects of 'harmony'
There are no squares, but there are a lot of trines and sextiles in his chart.
I've written about trines and sextiles before and I said that in certain circumstances they opt for the easy way out. Sometimes that is robbery instead of working. Sometimes that is a life behind bars instead of labour.  This man has Moon in Leo, a need to play a starring role and be in the center of attention. How? In an institution? (...)

2. Neptune is the symbol of confusion and fantasy. Neptune is quatronovile Sun (rejoicing the 'double life' or creating illusions).

3. Mercury-Neptune is a 'suspicious' aspect for the mix of facts and fantasy and the confusing communication (see the links). Thomas Quick has Mercury/Neptune square Sun. 'Rich imagination' and 'impressionable' said Reinhold Ebertin in COSI…

4. Saturn is 'calling'! I mean: Saturn doesn't make a major aspect within 5 degrees orb or in sign. That makes Saturn an important planet and the theme of Saturn of importance in a life. When Saturn calls, duty calls. But when Saturn calls in the chart of a sick man, he might consider himself guilty, be blamed and … take responsibility, even when he is NOT guilty of a crime. It is because of conscience (crime and punishment).

5.  Node without aspects. I think that this contributes to the importance of those around him (family, community) up to any possible level. There is a minor aspect (Mars quindecile Node) that points at a focus or obsession that links aggression or labor to groups of people. Or an obsession with series of murder?

6. Mercury is binovile Pluto (rejoicing the power of the word)
They believed what he said because he knew how to be impressive.

7. Jupiter trine Uranus
Jupiter-Uranus is the combination of the sudden windfall and the combination of the helicopter view. We find this combination in the charts of popes, astronauts and astrologers. It is a lucky combination that is present in charts of lottery winners and in the charts of those who live long. In a good chart it is a good
sign. In the chart of someone who is mentally not 'normal', it just means that he is more inventive than other criminals or patients are.

8. Sun inconjunct Quaoar
Quaoar is the symbol of creating new worlds and realities. Thomas Quick created too many new realities.

9. Jupiter in Pisces rising before the Sun
Jupiter is convincing. Jupiter in Pisces sesquisquare Neptune has a lot of fantasy and belief. Jupiter-Neptune is the combination of the believing and devoted audience. This man was believed.

10. When he was convicted on June 1, 1991 there were two influences of Neptune. The progressed Sun was trine Neptune. I've seen the Sun-Neptune combination in the charts of convicts before. They are being isolated from society and the trine makes it easy…
The progressed Sun was also sextile Pluto. The Neptune-Pluto combination is the combination of the silent force and of mystery. That is when therapy started and he was starting to dream?
Transit Saturn square Sun is about the end of a period in life and about facing responsibilities and restrictions. That is in line with jail…
Transit Neptune was inconjunct progressed Sun: this is a sign of getting out of balance or of fantasy (Neptune) getting out of balance.

PS

! When reading the positions of the day of birth of Thomas Quick we need to consider that this man is a psychiatric patient, probably a pathological liar. This is not the chart of the day of birth of a normal person. That is why the effect of the indications for lying and living like a criminal are stronger than for others born on that day! (I haven't found a famous 'birth' on April 26, 1950, so I have no example of how others - born that day - dealt with the fantasy in their chart).

The chart and transsexuality

‘ Becoming Chaz’ is a documentary about the transformation of Chassity Bono into Chaz. When I saw that, I was wondering if the charts of transsexuals show sexual transformation. I started looking for example charts and studied in particular the most individual midpoint: Ascendant/Midheaven. There is no more individual spot in the chart than this. The midpoint of Ascendant and Midheaven is the midpoint of (exact) time and place of birth. Astrodatabank has a collection of charts of transsexuals. This post is about 5 of them, including the chart of Chaz Bono. Two are transgender M-F and 3 F-M. 

In astrology transformation is symbolized by Pluto, change by Uranus, turning points by Pholus and creating new realities is being mirrored by Quaoar. Sexuality in astrology is basically mirrored by Venus and Mars. Sedna is a female symbol.

Those are the symbols that I was looking for to see if the charts had similar aspects or placements, related to the individual points in the chart.

- J ust like Chaz’chart this one has Pholus inconjunct Midheaven (C) .

- Venus sextile Pluto (Chaz has the inconjunction) (D).

There is more: Sedna sesquisquare Ascendant AND Moon rising before the Sun (Chaz has Mars there).

 2. Here is the second chart, with:

- Venus is square Pluto (Chaz has Venus inconjunct Pluto) (D).

- Pholus conjunct Midheaven (C)

- Sedna is sesquisquare Midheaven (B).

- Venus quintile Mars (Mars square Sun) (A)

Also: Quaoar in aspect with Venus (semi square) and Mars (trine (E) and notice the position of Uranus and Pluto on either side of the IC. Midheaven is conjunct the midpoint Mars/Pholus.

4. A sad example (transsexual female to male and suicide) is this chart (2543 in Astrodatabank), with:

- Venus trine Mars, Sun square Mars  (A)

- Sedna sesquisquare Midheaven (B)

- Pholus semisquare Midheaven and semi sextile Ascendant (C )

The midpoint Venus/Mars is square Sedna.

Change is indicated by Uranus and Pluto in tight aspect with Midheaven. Also, A/M is semi square the elevated Moon and 105 Quaoar (Moon is sextile Quaoar).

5. CHART OF CHAZ BONO

Chaz Bono is still in the process of transgender that started in 2008. In May 2010 he officially became male. This is the chart of that moment, with transit Saturn on Midheaven (the symbol of ending a certain period or status). That was also with transit Pholus on the Sun/Moon midpoint. 

Today, transit Pholus is back again on that Sun/Moon midpoint. Right now he is planning the final turning point: to add the genitals of a man. 

I have written about the earlier period before here (link) but I didn't mention the natal chart then. The day that Chaz Bono was born, was the day that Pierluigi Casiraghi was born, too. He is an Italian football manager and in the year 1998 (when Chasity had her coming out) he had a cruciate ligament injury and never came back as an international. Lacy Rose (actress in pornography) had her last movie done in 1998. I don't know what happened to the comedian Frank Nicotero, the singer Stina Nordenstam, actor Patrick Roach or to Matt Tiliey (an Australian radio personality). They were also born on the same day as Chaz Bono. But they can't have the same combinations with Ascendant, MC and AC/MC midpoint!

ASCENDANT/MIDHEAVEN

A chart must be seen in the light of genes (!), gender (!) and circumstances or situations, always. And maybe the midpoint structure with Ascendant and MC says moreI had a look and found this: the conjunction of Quaoar  (Indian god of creations) with the midpoint AC/MC opposition Sedna.This is telling us about the vital importance of creating new realities and new worlds, opposition the female symbol of Sedna. Only those born on a specific time and place on earth with this cross point of Ascendant and Midheaven will have the Quaoar-Sedna opposition related to Ascendant-MC.

MIDHEAVEN

On the day of birth the midpoint Uranus/Pluto was inconjunct Pholus. See the picture: Uranus and Pluto are on either side of the MC. This position announces dramatic and radical changes in status and position in the world. The inconjunction with Pholus means a turning point in status including a loss (and is related to dramatic change). Venus/Mars inconjunct Sun shows a life (or body) out of balance related to passion and sexuality. It depends on the accent on sexuality or passions in general, in what way this will show up in the charts of those who were born on the same day as Chaz Bono. The fact that the midpoint Venus/Mars is semi square his Midheaven (conjunct Uranus/Pluto!) says a lot about radical transformation related to sex life.

PAIN AND DESIRE (VENUS and PLUTO)

 The chart is clear about what it takes to get the desired look. Just like the beauties in this post, Chaz has a Venus-Saturn-Pluto combinatioin with Venus-Uranus:

Venus conjunct Saturnus and inconjunct Pluto, with Venus quatronovile Uranus and Uranus quintile Ascendant. The last aspect relates the combination to personal circumstances. Uranus quintile Ascendant says that creative change in presentation will or can be achieved and/or that the situation (Ascendant) will change (Uranus) in a creative way.

This is of course not a scientific study (5 charts only...). Please remember: we are individuals and charts are to be seen in the light of genes, gender, social/cultural circumstances and situations, always. If you have the same range of combinations in your chart, that doesn't mean that you should be transgender. If you are a transsexual, you might not have the same patterns.
