Nasa-Mars mystery-conference chart

Tomorrow, at 11:30 a.m. in Houston TX, Nasa will tell us about the 'Mars mystery solved' (see the announcement here: https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-to-announce-mars-mystery-solved ) and above is the chart of that moment. I find it interesting that the symbol of things mysterious (Neptune) is on the meridian and opposite Mars on that day, time and place. That is why I posted this chart. Also Saturn (in this situation for Science) is on the Ascendant. Are you as curious as I am?

Netherlands-Mexico June 29, 2014 and astrology

Chihuahua wearing orange

An animal (a meerkat, see YouTube) predicted that The Netherlands will win Netherlands - Mexico on June 29. Should I believe him?

I try to find out if it helps to use the Midheaven of the final moment as the symbol of 'the result'. The nature of the planets in the coaches' natal chart 'hitting' this Midheaven could give some insight in their status quo on the final moment.

The Mexican coach Herrera has his best moment about half an hour after the official final moment of the match. That means, that if it is even at the final moment, Mexico could win the battle later. Herrera has transit Jupiter close to a trine with his natal Sun. That is what the Spanish coach had in 2012! But, I read that he is already certain of his contract, even if he loses, as a sort of a reward for the results up to now! That is reason for contentment already!

I would be more positive about the chances for the Netherlands if I didn't know that transit Mars is exactly conjunct Louis van Gaal's natal Neptune. I hope that he catches a cold and is not disappointed at all.

Of course, there is no hour of birth for the coaches, there are two teams of 11 persons and there is a whole nation supporting the teams... It is not a prediction, it is an experiment. Up to now Louis van Gaal's team and tactics keep giving amazing results. So don't bet on it, please. Just ask yourself what you would think of it if you saw the charts (they are on Astromarkt: http://astromarkt.nl/nederland-mexico2014.html )

PS Any video of an animal predicting that Mexico will win? And is that animal, btw, living in Mexico?:) This Mexican dog thinks it will be Holland! In fact, almost everybody thinks so. So...perhaps this is really the last fase of the experiment to see correspondence between the results of a football match and the chart of that moment (related to the coaches' charts). I actually hope so, because it is a lot of work and I don't really like football.

Very Capricorn chart of Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer (founder of Opus Dei)

On January 9, 1902 Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer was born in Barbastro, Spain. On that day, there was a stellium of Sun, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn and Chiron in Capricorn. There was a narrow conjunction of Sun and Saturn. There is a Capricorn Sun/Moon conjunct Saturn. This strongly motivates to be in charge and to organize. There is a strong need to be respected.

This very Cappy chart belonged to the founder of Opus Dei (see Wiki), a Roman Catholic conservative organization of 80.000 member (not the millions of Dan Brown!), that started to do the 'work of God' (that is what Opus Dei means) on October 2, 1928.

It is not surprising to see so much Capricorn and Saturn in this chart. Capricorn is the sign of 'duty', the 'classics', ambition and of a certain conservatism. Sun-Saturn often highlights management qualities. Lots of managers (AND dictators) have a Sun-Saturn aspect (see this post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/03/sun-in-aspect-with-saturn-managing-to.html ).

In the chart of Opus Dei, Neptune rises before the 'calling' Sun, while Mars is 'calling' too. That perfectly describes Opus (Mars!) Dei (Neptune orientation). That Mars is trine the Venus of the founder and exactly conjunct his Neptune (dream came true).

Transit Pluto was opposition the natal Sun, Moon and Saturn of Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer when he founded Opus Dei. This signals that dramatic moment in his life.
Transit Pluto was also inconjunct Uranus (it seems that there was a lot of stress and nerves at the time). In the natal chart of the founder of Opus Dei, Uranus is opposition Pluto. Any transit or progression that connects Uranus and Pluto will be highlighted because of that crucial opposition on the meridian (IC-MC).

Here you see the chart of the founder and the transits of October 2, 1928 (with just one click you get a larger picture).

The Astro ID of Escriva for 10 p.m. is as follows:
1. Mars is 'calling' (for the workaholic)
2. Pluto conjunct Midheaven
3. Uranus opposition Midheaven (semi sextile Sun, Moon, Saturn and Sun/Moon)
4. Uranus rising before the Sun

Uranus is very important. Uranus is the symbol of controversy and semi sextile Sun.  Also, Eris is on the Descendant.

With such an Astro ID with such an important Uranus, it is to be expected that there are very different views of him. A lot of catholics see him as a saint. Others point at his defense of Hitler and France.

I like to point at Venus half semi square Mars, both connected with Neptune (by trine and biquintile) for the man with a romantic-idealistic passion. The Midheaven inconjunct Sun/Moon, Sun, Moon and Saturn, seems to contradict his beatification. He never really fell of his pedestal and didn't have to retire too early. The round hour of birth doesn't seem to fit completely. Maybe they said that it was at about 10. Anyway, I'd liked to place Midheaven right between Neptune and Pluto…

See:

http://www.astromarkt.net/sunmoon-signs.html
Quoting myself:
Capricorn
Motivated by parents (mostly the father), managers or others of different age or standing. Needs law, order and hierarchy to feel alive and secure. Highlighted responsibility and conservatism. In the family: the cool, serious, responsible and cautious family member, a bit distant (because of age, status or living far away).
In a marriage: rather solid, serious and distant (like the father remembered for cutting the meat every Sunday). No seriously: they are very scrupulous indeed.
This highlighted Capricorn just needs to climb in society and make a career. It depends on many things (chart, genes, gender, circumstances) where that need brings you.
Famous examples are:
- Oprah Winfrey (Sun in Aquarius, Moon in Sagittarius, Sun/Moon in Capricorn)
- Luis Bunuel (Sun Pisces, Moon Sagittarius, conflict with the family because of political choice)
- Annie Lennox (Sun and Moon in Capricorn, Sun/Moon in Capricorn sesquisquare Venus)

The Fukushima disaster chart and progressions

When I studied the progressed chart of the Fukushima disaster, I noticed how speedy Mercury was in those days. See the chart, and you know what I mean. There was an applying Mercury-Pluto square (nearly 5d orb) that perfected almost 2,5 days = 2,5 years after March 11, 2013. That is now, now that they communicated (Mercury) about a problem (Pluto) and danger (Pluto), that was 'born' on March 11, 2011.

I will have a special eye for applying aspects from now on to see if they have more impact later, than separating aspects have.

Here is the chart with transits and progressions.

The Astro ID of the chart is:
- Sun in Pisces in 8th house is 'calling' (separating quintile with Pluto)
- Mars in Pisces in 8th house is 'calling' and rising before the Sun
- Neptune ruler 8 + ruler Sun and Mars is 'calling'
Sun/Neptune=Mars (Mars between Sun and Neptune)
The important Sun, Mars and Neptune sort of scream about a day when the god of the seas was at war, a day for a disaster. But the chart doesn't scream 'disaster'.

I posted about the mediocre charts of main disasters before (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/02/mediocre-chart-positions-of.html ) and commented lated that there was a Pholus/Quaoar/Varuna midpoint combination in the charts of the Laki*) and Krakatau disaster. There is no such combination in the Fukushima chart, but there is a different and more complicated 'link'. There are minor and major aspects between Pholus, Quaoar and Varanu, created by Sun, Saturn and Pluto:
- In the Fukushima chart there is an inconjunct aspect of Quaoar (22d52 Sagittarius) and Varuna (21d10 Cancer), while Pholus is at 17d54 Sagittarius.
- Saturn is biquintile Quaoar and 157.5 d MC.
- Midpoint Quaoar/Varuna is square Pluto and Pluto is quintile Sun.
- The Sun is square Pholus/Quaoar and trine Varuna.
(Nessus and Sedna are also involved in this picture.)

MORE ASPECTS
An event chart requires narrow orbs, especially the orbs with MC and Ascendant. This is the chart of a special moment in time and place that had it's consequences. The minor aspects and the 'unusual' guys seem to make a difference in this chart.

The Moon is in the very first minutes of Gemini. There is an applying sesquisquare with Saturn, and that is a nasty aspect to look forward to, perfecting within a few hours on that day and within a few months in the progressed chart.
There is also a trine with Pallas, even closer.

Saturn is biquintile Quaoar. This mirrors the creation of a finale. Saturn is 157.5 d MC and that is a sesquisquare + half semi square.

The strongest aspect is that of Quaoar sesquisquare Midheaven.

In total the MC gives the tightest and strongest message.
Midheaven is trine Pluto, sesquisquare Quaoar and Juno, quintile Varuna, 75d Nessus, quintile Ceres, novile Lillith, half semi square Moon and there is the mentioned 157.5 d aspect with Saturn. The IC is quindecile Eris.

If you'd only consider the major aspect of MC trine Pluto you'd only notice an intense, challenging and dangerous moment THERE, causing stress and pressure. Such a moment happens every day, everywhere.  Here is was a moment for an earth quake, relieving stress and pressure. It takes more information to qualify the event. That shows that one single aspect doesn't tell the story...

BIRTHS IN DISASTER TIME
The aspects of charts are valid for more hours and minutes, some even for a major part of the day. Charts should be read in their context. When you were born with the above chart, you are probably someone who knows how to be in the center of attention, who can be very productive and/or very lazy (depending on what you do) and who knows how to deal with challenges and danger (simply by choosing an easy way out). It doesn't mean that you are 'a disaster':).

*) The Laki disaster 1783 chart also has Mars rising before the Sun.

Golden Oldies - 3- events

There have been 2 'golden oldies' posts now (see label). One with links to (in my opinion interesting) posts about crime, one about basic astrology. They contain links to posts that I have chosen because of the fact that they are a good old example to be used in the study of astrology, even though they were written in 2007/2008 and even though I learnt since then (I hope)... Here you find some examples of shocking events in the past.

1. When planets don't make narrow aspects in sign, I name them 'calling' planets. They manifest at any possible level, somehow, anyhow. A natal Sun without Ptolemaic aspects within 5 degrees of orb, in sign, is a 'calling' Sun. Somehow this natal Sun will draw attention, take the lead and be the 'star'. He or she will be noticed.

The founder of the FARC in Colombia, Manuel Marulanda, died and I noticed that he had that calling Sun, too. There are a lot of bosses and leaders (of the band) with a calling Sun (see the label for more examples). They are not always terrorist. This one had Mars and Uranus rising before his natal Sun. Read about his chart here:
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/05/birth-chart-manual-marulanda.html
With Mars-Uranus you may be accelerating , things must go faster than fast. Your short fuse demands change immediately and that is why so many terrorists have a Mars-Uranus aspect or Sun related to midpoint Mars/Uranus as you may see on Astromarkt.
http://www.astromarkt.net/mars-in-aspect-with-uranus.html

2. In June 2008 the city of Donetsk was shocked by an explosion. The chart of that moment has Uranus elevated, Neptune on Midheaven opposition Mars and Mars biquintile Uranus. Mars-Uranus (see under 1.) is explosive by nature.

http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/06/chart-of-mine-explosion-in-donetsk.html

More explosions:
The explosion caused by Breivik in Oslo, had AC/MC midpoint opposition Uranus, while Mars was rising before the Sun ( http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/07/chart-of-oslo-explosion.html )
Uranus rises before the Sun in the chart of the explosion in Cali ( http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/09/bomb-explosion-in-cali-reminds-us-of.html
Those placements occur every day. They mirror a shocking moment.

3. They shocked the world, but there was no Mars-Uranus explosive matererial in their charts.
Do the charts of two men who caused bank crashes (Kerviel and Leeson) look alike? Find the answer:

Except for a sharp mind and passion the charts of Leeson and Kerviel don't have much in common. If Kerviel was born in the early morning, he and Leeson would share the Moon in Virgo (for a need to offer services). In the charts of both men Saturn is prominent (related to Zero Aries, Aries Point. That is a signal for the importance of hierarchy, management and rules. I think it is interesting that in both charts Mars and Neptune are rising before the Sun.

The progressed charts: Neptune in a hard aspect with Jupiter, right on the day that the fairy tale ended. Jupiter-Neptune is a combination for speculations that is also found in the charts of religious people and in the charts of idols (like Tom Cruise, who is both idol and religious, see message below). The hard aspect might point at the negative consequences (Neptune) of arrogancy (Jupiter). http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/01/jrome-kerviel-and-nick-leeson-same.html

(Note: Jupiter and Neptune are related to believing audiences. They couldn't have done what they did, without a number of fans.)

Into the wild with Mars TRINE Neptune (Chris McCandless)

Recently I saw parts of the movie 'Into the wild' again. It is about Christopher McCandless (picture above), who got into trouble and died of starvation on a road trip to Alaska, alone. They estimated that he died on August 18, 1992, now 20 years ago. He left a diary and notes and a book was written about his experiences, followed by a movie. I think that much of what happened, happened because of the tightest aspect in his chart, the trine between Mars and Neptune.

Don't get me wrong! I know that there is more! For example: the Sun semi square Saturn and inconjunct Pluto (die hard combination; difficulties and restrictions), Sun biquintile Uranus and semi square Saturn (breaking free), the Sun square Neptune and inconjunct Pluto (the silent force, the mystery), or Sun conjunct Pholus (risk to shoot your own foot; the catalyst).  Sun in Aquarius biquintile Uranus means a creative way to be independent and free. It is a sort of an ultimate Aquarian dream that turned into a nightmare when being different and independent turned into being an alien in a hostile environment.
It is 'Mars trine Neptune' what I like to discuss here, also because of the effect of transit Neptune - Progressed Mars later.  This trine again raises questions about the harmony of trines.
Remember the chart of Sharon Tate (lots of trines) and that of one of her murderers (trines in the synastry and grand trine in chart)? Here is the link: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/03/chart-of-sharon-tate-raising-questions.html

IMPORTANCE OF MARS TRINE NEPTUNE HERE
Mars trine Neptune is important in the chart of Chris McCandless. Mars trine Neptune is the tightest aspect. Tight aspects are most important, IMO (if time of birth is important, how couldn't the tightness of aspects be?) Moreover: this aspect is between important planets in the chart. Neptune is important because Neptune rises before the Sun (spotlight on ideals, dreams and illusions). Mars is in Pisces (ruled by Neptune).

The combination of Mars and Neptune is being repeated in the transits and progressions of an important moment: when he left home. In fact: all the while, during his odyssey, the transit was valid! In June 1990 Neptune was in the 14th degree of Capricorn. In december 1990 Neptune was in the 14th degree of Capricorn, again. In september 1991 the retrograding Neptune was in that degree.
I've experienced more than once, that aspects in transit or progressions between the same couple as in the natal chart are very important, even if the distance is different. It is a repeating, resonating theme. The transit or progression fits the natal chart, like the glass shoe fitted Cinderella.

MARS+NEPTUNE
Mars-Neptune is perfect for those things that don't require too much energy. Mars-Neptune stimulates fantasy, artistry and ideals. It is good for people who work with those who are weak or ill and have to use drugs or medication. It is a nice trine for sailors, people who live isolated lives or for people working in a bar. This Mars-Neptune is a trine. I wrote about the hard aspects before:

( Mars square Neptune ) (quote)
" I have a bad example of a count in Holland who was naive enough to believe that he would be spared, but he wasn't. Natal Mars-Neptune opposition. Soon after transit Neptune conjunct Sun (being seen in a negative light, gossip) he was convicted and sentenced to death. Those were the days...a mistake, literally loosing your head... Don't I have a nice Mars-Neptune example? Yes, the chart of Rod Stewart (on Art&Astrology). He has Mars square Neptune and they didn't chop his head off!
Maybe you have some more? If you have Mars square Neptune, what is your experience? I read about a man who kept losing his job because of not 'matching with the expectations'. I have seen examples of people working in or with crime (as a lawyer, for example, fighting crime). It seems that Mars-Neptune makes you 'do it' in another world, the world of imagination or the world that the common people don't see. Perhaps they work with animals, in hospitals, as a volunteer, for their ideals? It is a complicated aspect, very confusing (...)."
It seems that trines and squares between Mars and Neptune are almost one of a kind. They can lead you  into trouble.

FEBRUARY 12, 1968
On February 12, 1968 many more persons were born, like Josh Brolyn (actor), Gregory Charles and Chynna Philips*) (singers). They didn't  go into the wild. I don't know what happened to them, but I know what happened to Chris McCandless when the Mars-Neptune combination reappeared in his chart.  And I know his background. A study of history and anthropology had given him ideas about society. He wanted to leave society and he did, with transit Neptune square progressed Mars. He died after an odyssey with transit Neptune again square Progressed Mars, almost two years later. The period just before he went 'into the wild' was a Neptune-Mars period. In that period he didn't contact his family .

WHEN HE LEFT: T Neptune square P Mars
McCandless was born February 12, 1968 in El Segundo, California and he studied history and anthropology. He left home, after donating all of his money to Oxfam, end of June, 1990. That was with transit Uranus square his Saturn, on a moment of 'breaking free'. See the chart for the other transits and progressions. And see that transit Neptune was square progressed Mars.
Here are the positions on the day of birth with transits and progressions for when he left. Watch transit Pluto trine natal Sun: he was still strong and healthy then and determined to go.

He was last seen alive on April 28, 2012. He disappeared. And when he wanted to come back, it was too late.

DEATH
This is the chart of the estimated day of death. The situation (he couldn't cross the river and was completely alone) caused his early death.
Even when he died there was a Mars-Neptune issue. On August 20, 1992 (two days after the estimated day of death) Mars was inconjunct Neptune in the 17th degree. On the 17th Mars had been inconjunct Uranus in the 15th degree. His progressed Mars was in the 16th degree. Transit Uranus/Neptune was inconjunct transit Mars and square the progressed Mars of Chris McCandless.

When he died, transit Jupiter was opposition his progressed Sun and transit Neptune sextile. The Jupiter-Neptune combination is the combination of belief and faith. These transits may have comforted him in the lonely wild in his final hours. That is why he wrote:
I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD. GOODBYE AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL!"
It looks like an act (Mars) of faith (Neptune).

Mars-Neptune isn't the kind of aspect to help you survive in the wild. It is the aspect for the poet, the dreamer, getting lost...  There is nothing romantic about dying alone, sick, thin and cold, starving. But there is something mysterious about his last years and days that inspired artists to make (Mars) a movie (Neptune) about his walk to infinity. If it is one thing that the trine 'achieved', than it is the fact that his story became a legend.

The Moon-Uranus + Mars-Neptune experience

Guess what happened...
Today the Moon in Aries (1) was square my natal Uranus 5 around 16 o'clock local time. Transit Uranus in 1 was exactly square my natal Uranus. Transit Mars was exactly conjunct my natal Neptune in 7.
What kind of experience do you think that I had? I'll tell you all about it! It was an exciting mistake. (Uranus for excitement and upheavel, Neptune for shame and confusion...)

It was 'exciting'! That was because I rushed through the office, alarmed the security and was looking all over to find my big white bag with car keys and car papers. I was convinced that I left them in locker number 64, but I couldn't find the key in my purse and than I found that locker open, without the bag. Oops! Apparently I hadn't left the bag in a locker, I thought. And recently some of my coworkers had been robbed of their radio, money, bag…So I first checked to see if my car was still in the garage. Then I checked all the toilet rooms and all the rooms of coworkers (even those where I hadn't been that day). Again I checked all my drawers, the open and closed lockers and I looked under the desk.

I thought that I used 64, as usual. That was wrong. I left the bag in number 14 and the key (blue, not red, like 64) was in my little black purse, hidden between some paper stuff.

Mars-Neptune for a blooper? Anyway, I hurried home and poured myself some wine 'for the confused'.
That is what you deserve with Mars-Neptune...

Pretty cool Moon-Uranus and Mars-Neptune combination, isn't it? I'm lucky to have retrieved the bag and to see that I am not the only one having trouble with a big white bag. I found a crazy story here:

The 'guess what' chart of a nobleman

This 'guess what' chart (without hour of birth) shows a pattern and tells us about the resonation of planets that we haven't even discovered, yet. The patterns: Saturn-Uranus and Uranus-Pluto and Mars-Neptune. Neptune, Uranus and Pluto were unknown to the 16th century astrologer or astronomer. But as you will see, they were there...Here is the chart.

The event date is June 15, 1568, at the beginning of the so called '80 years of war' of protestant Holland against catholic Spain..
The story is well known in my country (well, not everybody knows, but it is part of history). It is the story of two noblemen (Counts of towns in Holland). They were Roman Catholics and devoted to their religion. What do you think that happened on the specific day in the life of this Count?

A LITTLE HELP...
A. As always, it is important to have a look at the natal chart first. This man was born with Sun in Scorpio. Mars was rising before the Sun. That is typical for someone with a drive, someone who acts (first).
B. Watch the Saturn-Uranus combination and in particular Sun square Saturn! On this blog you find a lot of input about Saturn-Uranus combinations. The extent of it is on Astromarkt now: http://www.astromarkt.net/saturn-uranus.html
C. Think of the 16th century in Europe (or think of the Tudors ). Combine this with the nature of the natal chart and the transits and progressions.
D. Don't forget to have a look at the Uranus-Pluto story on Astromarkt to see what this combination means: http://www.astromarkt.net/uranus-pluto-history.html or read about the astrological signs of changing times: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/06/astrological-signs-of-changing-times.html.
E. In the natal chart below you see Mars opposite Neptune. In the progressed chart of the event date, you see transit Neptune opposition progressed Mars. Followers of this blog know that I like to point at the special effect of the transit that is sort of repeating the natal aspect. It is not a faint resonation at all. The effect of such a transit or progression is stronger than all other transits or progressions.
F. I almost forgot to mention transit Saturn inconjunct Saturn. They say that it is a generational aspect, but this person has a tight Sun-Saturn square.

Mars opposition Neptune....Cafe Astrology says a true thing about this aspect, as you will see when you find out what happened.
"Your imagination is so powerful that it can be hard to trust your instincts. You easily imagine things going wrong, just as you easily fantasize about good things!"

What did this count do or what happened in the time that he had Progressed Sun conjunct Pluto and sesquisquare Uranus with transit Neptune opposition Progressed Mars?

You think it was pleasant or not? What is your idea about this combination in those days?
Here are a few possible solutions:
1. He chopped of the head of a rebel against Spain and he shouldn't have done that. Later he was found guilty of murder and he spent the rest of his life in his own prison.
2. He was arrested by the Duque de Alba and beheaded in spite of his loyalty to the church and the king of Spain.
3. He lost his freedom when he was forced to marry a Spanish Countess, Margarita de Alba.
4. He was asked to come to Brussel to see the Prince of Orange (William). William had him on trial for his loyalty to the Spanish king.
5. The Duque of Alba confiscated his property and he was forced to leave the country.

You probably will have a problem to select the exact answer, but I am sure that you will have a pretty good idea! You choose. Or you read the answer here on Wikipedia. This is the statue of the man:

Charles Manson appeals again

Charles Manson again tries to get out of prison: he appeals, even though his lawyer says that he is now totally institutionalized. I have written about Manson and Sharon Tate before (see links), but that was in 2008 and 2009. Meanwhile, you learn and see more (at least, that is what I hope)... So, here is another reading.

First of all:
Charts don’t mean destiny. Charts are telling us how to deal with the challenges of life (your mental health!, gender, genes, social circumstances and culture). There is no need to identify yourself with Manson, just because you were born on the same day or hour. It is what you do with the chart position, what you make of it, given the circumstances! I couldn't find a celebrity born on November 12, 1934 as an example of an alternative way to deal with the same kind of aspects.

Anyway, this is the chart with transits and progressions for the fatal day: August 9, 1969.

Charles Manson got tools to become the leader of a gang. He managed to break free from the social circumstances of his parents’ home. He also had the tools to make a mash of his life, ending up in jail. What astrological themes are highlighted in his chart?

1.  JUPITER
Jupiter is the most important planet in the chart of Charles Manson. Jupiter is on an angle and Jupiter rises before the Sun. Usually this is an indication for confidence, conviction and the importance of having social successes. In a way, considering his social background, there was a period when he ‘made it’. He had followers and he had influence.
2.   MERCURY
Mercury is angular, pointing at the importance of communications and opinions.
Together, the importance of Mercury and Jupiter increase the power of communications. He has written several song texts (see here: http://leeaaron.tripod.com/manson-lyrics.html)  And it seems that he gets thousands of letters of people who want to become a member of the Manson family.
3.  MOON
The elevated Moon in Aquarius (square Ascendant and conjunct Northern Nodes) points at the importance of moods, needs, habits and family. His gang was named the Manson Family.

Charles Manson’s chart is not easy. He has Sun, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Scorpio. And all(!!!) of his planets are heavily afflicted!  The tightest aspects are Moon square Mercury and Mars conjunct Neptune. The first (Moon-Mercury) describes a conflict between sense and sensitivity or at worst a habit of lying. The second (Mars-Neptune) can easily lead to using and/or abusing drugs. There is almost no harmonious aspect, it is all struggle, trouble and fighting, except for Venus sextile Mars (passion, and that doesn’t help much in this case). With Sun square Saturn in Aquarius (ruled by Uranus) and Sun quatronovile Uranus we see a double Saturn-Uranus theme, mirroring the issue of restricted freedom and the will to break free.
(…)

CRIME
Charles Manson had been in jail a few times before he got life. Crime is hidden in the details of the chart of the specific hour and place:

1. In the chart of the famous Dutch drugsdealer Klaas Bruinsma, Uranus and Neptune are very important. So it is in the birth chart of Charles Manson. Mars is conjunct Neptune and semisquare Uranus for being explosive under the influence of drugs. The combination is repeated several times in midpoint combinations.
2. Sun/Moon conjunct Lilith? Has this motivated him to enter ‘the wild side’ of life?
3. Midpoint AC/MC is sesquisquare Uranus and square Pluto. This is indicating a sudden transformation of conditions (like an arrest).

Also:
- Saturn opposition the midpoint Mars/Pluto mirrors the issue of unnatural death. This midpoint combination can’t be used for judging, because it is in the charts of victims and in the charts of killers or witnesses. It also takes more than just one midpoint combination (and situations!) to ‘activate’ this Mars/Saturn/Pluto issue.

- Jupiter, ruler 8, is quintile Midheaven (this points at getting away with it a bit...he was allowed to live but got life in jail). Today he will find out if this will be until he dies.

- Sun sextile Midheaven makes him 'visible' and made it probably more easy to manifest as a leader.

AUGUST 9, 1969
On the day that Sharon Tate and her guests were brutally murdered by members of the Manson family, transit Pluto was inconjunct the Progressed Midheaven of Charles Manson. An inconjunction of Pluto sometimes mirrors the price that you have to pay (the consequences).

Here is the chart with transits and progressions for now:

The astrology of the Bone Wars

The Bone Wars started when two competitive paleontologists came across 'themselves' in the ‘Great Dinosaur Rush’ of 1877-1892. Episode 4 of O'Hanlons Heroes - a series of discoveries through the 19th Century – is about the competition between Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh. They collected numerous bones of dinosaurs and tried to be number one in the field. They ended without a penny, partly because of the ‘war’ between them. They had a lot in common. Same 'job', same attitude towards each other, same dirty method to discredit the other one.
I want to show you how their charts looked at each other and how the synastry between the charts tells us that the heroes ‘deserved each other’.

Edward Drinker Cope was born on July 28, 1840,  a Leo with a Leo Moon, Sun sesquisquare Uranus, most probably Mars rising before the Sun (and Moon) and Mars inconjunct Neptune.

Othniel Charles Marsh was born October 29, 1831, a Scorpio with a Leo Moon, Sun square Uranus, Mars rising before the Sun and Mars square Neptune, tightly.

From what they share (Leo Moon, Sun afflicted by Uranus, Mars afflicted by Neptune and Mars rising before the Sun) it is without doubt that they were active, competitive and in a way tending to negative ways to fight or compete. Both longed to be the star in their field. Both were outsiders with the will to be ‘different’ and a tendency to be controversial. Those rather arrogant macho men were competing each other in remote places, digging for bones. They were enemies, but not from the start. There is a Venus sextile Venus synastry that tells us about sympathy in the past. But:

- They have Sun square Sun. Such a synastry aspect raises the question:’ Who is the boss, who is the real star?’
- There are two inconjunctions between the charts. Mars of Edward Cope is inconjunct Jupiter of Othniel Marsh and sort of a vice versa: Pluto of Marsh is inconjunct Jupiter of Cope. Inconjunctions cause lack of balance. Mars-Jupiter and Jupiter-Pluto are combinations of success and progress. Inconjunctions however don’t match. If they had joined forces, could they have had the same extraordinary result and amount of bones? Perhaps it was the competition that contributed to the results.
- Saturn of Cope is square the Pholus of Marsh. Though many of their contemporaries shared this synastry aspect, we can conclude that it is not a favorable one. Marsh as the catalyst of the guilt and restrictions for Cope?
- I would not be surprised if both had Sun/Moon in aspect with Uranus. That would have motivated them to go on and on and on…

Here is the chart of the day of birth of Edward. The positions outside the circle (the 'transits) are the positions of the day of birth of Othniel.

Anyway, they were two of a kind (rather macho outsiders) and they were competing in the same field with not matching sun signs and apparently they stimulated each other in their competition. They made a great contribution to science that way. And their story is a contribution to astrology, too. Their charts confirm the characters and the competition. I particularly like this quote, that seems very Moon Leo to me:

"The patrician Edward may have considered Marsh not quite a gentleman. The academic Othniel probably regarded Cope as not quite a professional."

They didn’t match, they tried to ‘beat’ each other the hard way, but if they hadn’t met, there wouldn’t have been such a storyJ. Sometimes people meet in order to stimulate each other to do what they always wanted to. On Astromarkt (http://www.astromarkt.net/sharing-aspects) you see this about sharing Mars-Neptune (I mean when both have an aspect between Mars and Neptune in the chart):

Mars-Neptune: Being without job, sharing drugs or alcohol or medications. Maybe they are working together in a health or non profit organization. Or having affairs...Sorry, this is an aspect that does not cheer up…

Apparently with this aspect you can also have ‘dirty’ competition…

Chart of Bill Clinton

The chart of Bill Clinton misses the Moon-Jupiter aspect that most of the American Presidents have, but what he shares with them is Mercury conjunct Saturn and Pluto for the strategic mind and the political way to mention facts (or not:). Pluto is rising before his Sun to indicate that he is the kind of man who has a strategy and a policy. In fact, the conjunction of Mercury, Saturn and Pluto define him as a man with a political minded orientation. Even though he was sort of handicapped by Mars-Neptune on the Ascendant, he managed to become and stay the President of the USA. Sun sextile Jupiter and Uranus made him inventive enough. Jupiter quintile Pluto helped him to create success. But boy, Jupiter square Pholus really made it hard not to shoot his own successes.

Mars-Neptune is about the use and abuse of drugs and alcohol but also about affairs. His reputation (MC) will always be handicapped by the affair with Monica Lewinsky. I often wonder how people manage to keep their heads up after such an ordeal, but he does. Maybe that is the key to success and maybe Sun in Leo helps him to be proud.
Happy Birthday, Bill Clinton!

Mars inconjunct Neptune, Sun inconjunct Venus

Venus by Duval
A few days back the poll about Mars square Neptune (see right side bar or scroll down) showed that few of those who responded thought that a hard Mars-Neptune was a pleasant aspect. On Astromarkt I already showed examples of the effect of the inconjunction: getting out of balance, with the chance of a lost. Inconjunctions with Neptune often appear to go together with 'fallen angels' (idols or 'holy persons' losing their fans). Mars inconjunct Neptune, in the wrong hands, can lead to losing your job. That is what happened to David Wu now.

In the chart of Anders Breivik Mars is in aspect with Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. It seems that such a complicated aspect combination doesn't help to keep a man on the right track. The same sort of aspect combination can be seen in the chart of the day of birth of David Wu.  He was born April 8, 1955 in Taiwan. On that day Mars was inconjunct Neptune, square Pluto and sextile Uranus.

PROGRESSIONS: INCONJUNCT A ' CALLING' VENUS

David Wu has rare aspects in progression.
1. His progressed Sun was inconjunct natal Venus last year.
2. Progressed Venus is semi sextile natal Sun.
That is two times problems with the ladies. Or with 'love'. Right now he is in the middle of a divorce. David Wu stepped back today, after accusations of sexual assault.

These rare progressed (and 'only' minor) aspects are so important  because of the importance of Venus in his chart. Venus is in Pisces, in the 11th degree. That means that there are no major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees on April 8, 1955 and that Venus is 'calling'!
When Venus is 'calling' in a man's chart and there are such midpoint combinations like Venus opposition Uranus/Neptune ('one sided reveling in love' says Ebertin) the chance of a hype or scandal (Uranus/Neptune) regarding women might become real (but of course not without a little help of yourself).

TRANSITS
Now that he stepped back, transit Pluto is exactly opposition his progressed Mars (see chart). The Mars-Pluto combinaton is challenging and sometimes (self-) destructive.

Venus was also 'calling' in the chart of French President Mitterand. See it here:

Venus without major aspects is not uncommon in the charts of batchelors and cheats...

YouTube: the controversial video clip of the Golden Earrings named 'When the lady smiles' became a hit. It is about a man who thinks that all women fancy him.

Ahmadinejad, Khamenei and Eris (discord)

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has problems with Khamenei, supreme leader and former President of Iran. Ahmadinejad is a chosen politician, the official President in a strictly ruled theocracy in hostile relations with most countries. This post is about Mars-Neptune, Transit Saturn inconjunct Mars, signs of changing times for Ahmadinejad and about Jupiter-Sun and Eris in synastry. The news (link to Inside Iran) and the charts are corresponding.
The Eris of Khameini is exactly inconjunct the natal Sun of Ahmadinejad and Khamenei's progressed Sun is opposition his Eris and semi sextile the natal Sun of Ahmadinejad. Time for some discord between them?

Politics is complicated. The interaction between two persons is a complicated matter. There is much much more (international issues, family matters...) and a chart should always been seen in the light of circumstances and changing situations. With that in mind, continue for the charts, the transits and progressions and links to more about Ahmadinejad.

102 year old informal carer

Driving in my car I heard an interview on the radio today. A 102-year old, celebrating her birthday today, was being congratulated and honored for the fact that...she takes care of her 72 year old and ill daughter, since two years. She cooks, washes and cleans. She does this almost always alone. That is very special. It drew my attention and I had a look at the chart of the d.o.b. of this very old lady, who also emigrated and returned (in 1972). What of all that can be found in the chart?

OLD
There is a balanced placement of planets and light in all elements. 50% of the placements are in movable signs (so I guess she is a busy person). I was curious about Jupiter/Uranus (often found in the charts of very old persons) and yes: Sun is semi square the midpoint Jupiter/Uranus
For more about astrology and aging, see my site Astromarkt about getting old.
There is a limited ability to read this chart, without hour of birth, but here are some more observations:

VOLUNTARY JOB: MARS TRINE NEPTUNE
I am happy to see the trine between Mars and Neptune in her chart. Her voluntary job to help her daughter seems to be in line with this aspect: driven by empathy.

MOON CALLING
Family and tradition calls when the Moon is calling (not making major aspects). That is mirroring the living with her daughter, having a niece who helps to clean the house once a week and getting back to her home land after emigration.

INTERNATIONAL: EMIGRATION AND BACK
Mrs K is an international (Jupiter is 'calling'. There are no major aspects within 5 degrees of orb). One daughter  lived in Australia until her death. Another daughter came over from South Africa, the country where she lived for many years until she and her husband returned to the Netherlands in 1972 (that is when she was 63!). There were three indications for this return.

1. The progressed Sunsing changed from Leo to Virgo, with Progressed Venus square natal Sun. The first aspect in the new sign was Progressed Sun semi square Neptune.
The changing sign of the sun mirrors the changing lifestyle. Sun-Neptune is reflecting a negative period in life. Soon after the return her husband became ill and died.

2. Transit Pluto was square natal Sun in 1972 and Pluto is the symbol of transformation of life and issues of life and death.

3. Transit Ceres was conjunct natal Sun in 1972 (Ceres is the symbol of the roots)

4. Transit Uranus semi square Progressed Sun is another sign of changing times

QUATRONOVILE SUN-URANUS
BTW Notice the quatronovile between Sun (90d) and Uranus (290d). This 160d aspect symbolizes rejoicing independence and freedom. If the novile (binovile and quatronovile) represent the ninth harmonic and if the ninth harmonic is the symbol of the 'fruit of life' (where the birth chart is the 'tree'), the fruit of life of Sun-Uranus might be 'being independent'. Few people of her age managed to be as independent as she is now...

Mars (changing sign to Gemini) square Neptune

Canals on Mars?
In the blog about Mars in the progressed chart I wrote that nothing much changed when my progressed Mars changed sign, just another kind of activities. Today, Mars changes sign from Taurus to Gemini. That must be quite a change, from the lazy cow (not easily to offend) to the busy double-active always doing-two-things-at-the-same-time Gemini. Mars in Gemini is good with hands and so this position is perfect for Wimbledon: competition using hands and a lot of 'doubles'. However, the square with Neptune will immediately confuse the double-tasking promoter so that he makes mistakes or swings to the wrong side. I wonder in what way and if it will be at Wimbledon. It would be very astrological if there was something wrong, misunderstood or simply cancelled right at the very moment of Mars in Gemini square Neptune. It would also be very naive to believe that the rain will stop Wimbledon like last year, just because of the square between Mars in Gemini and Neptune in Pisces. It takes more than just one aspect, always...

So it probably won't happen, and the aspect will only be significant for the babies born on June 21 and June 22, whose Mars or Neptune have a prominent place (on an angle, for example). But what IS Mars-Neptune?

MARS-NEPTUNE
Sun-Neptune is about double lives (and the question: who am I really?). Mars-Neptune is about double drives and activities (and the question: what am I doing?) The pink glasses on when playing tennis, perhaps that is the picture of a Mars Gemini square Neptune. Or double tasking with an overdose of sleep. Or an infection in something double in the body, like with pneumonia. At best: making a dream come true by working twice as hard. I might be affected by Mars in Gemini square Neptune already, because I am wondering if the picture above (a double Mars - in Gemini!- with canals = Neptune) wouldn't be the perfect image for this combination.

I have a bad example of a count in Holland who was naive enough to believe that he would be spared, but he wasn't.

I read about a man who kept losing his job because of not matching with the expectations. It is a complicated aspect, very confusing (...).

Somehow you would expect the aspect to be valid when it occurs, too, not just in a natal chart, for a character, but real action at the right moment. That is why I keep my eyes on Wimbledon...Meanwhile, please   do the poll...
