Second date and astrology

There is a conservative politician in my country who is fighting against Second dating sites. You know, those sites where you can subscribe in order to find a partner to date with, even though both of you are involved in a relationship or married. A diver's watch has a second date, too. You have to get above water in time, when you are diving deep...
In 2014 a second date agency published that 13,4 percent of the members was born under Capricorn. That may not be the usual suspect, but if you want some security and do it in an organized way, you might end up on an internet site seeking a suitable reliable partner for being untrue. There were fewer Sagittarians (5,6 percent) and Scorpios (5,7 percent) among the subscribers in The Netherlands (see article). Perhaps that is because they do it less organized:).
Apart from the 'suspected signs' there are 'suspected aspects'. In ancient astrology books Venus-Saturn aspects were considered to have a negative effect on remaining true in a marriage. I think that that is because in those days it was harder to get a divorce. The couple had to stick together, even if there was no love between them. Venus-Saturn wants to keep the relationship safe and yet, it is rather hard and boring if you don't have a hobby, like astrology, for example.
I mentioned cheating ladies before (see the links). They almost all had Venus and/or Mars without major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees, so that passion could reach any level (100% or zero). All or nothing. Second dating is very different. It is deliberately seeking adventure for your own pleasure, instead of desperately falling in love. We don't know any data about the subscribers, only sun sign percentages. But I can imagine what the charts could be like. It almost always takes more than 1 indication, like in the chart of John F. Kennedy, the Gemini with Moon-Venus, Venus-Neptune and Mars-Uranus aspects to need love, love romance and accelerated fire. He had his wife, he seems to have had Marilyn Monroe and still this was not enough.
It is probably hard to be fiery and romantic in a long and boring marriage, without TV or an interesting hobby. Venus is not just the planet of love, but also the planet of what you love, like your hobby. I wouldn't be surprised if Venus-Saturn was the equivalent of lack of hobby!:) That explains, LOL.

True and not true sun signs

Interesting research done by a second date site showed that 2.5 times more members were Capricorns than Sagittarius. It seems strange that the serious Capricorns are more true than the freewheeling Sags but I think that there is more than 1 explanation. Take the horns...for example. Venus and Mars should be considered, too. But, we know that Capricorns mind their status and position and the status quo. When they would like some more adventure, they wouldn't want to risk their mortgage, pay alimony and lose a reputation. That could be a reason to search for a secret date with an odor of 'decency' (instead of sex dates). Long lasting marriages can be boring, of course. Sagittarians would, perhaps, separate sooner.

The second sign on top of the list is Aquarius (adventure, something new) and second last is Scorpio (deeply true). Aries and Taurus are third. Of course, people are not sun signs and stats like these can't be used to accuse any sign of being untrue. There is more in a chart, and much more in a secret dater's chart!

It is an interesting study, because apart from a few famous examples we can't really know who is true, can we?

Death of Sunanda Pushkar

On special request I had a look at the chart of Sunanda Pushkar-Tharoor, the Indian wife of a minister who was found death after accusing her husband to have an affair. Today, her son, Shiv Menon, stated that he blamed her death on an the combination of media stress, tension and wrongly mixed medications. That is in line with the transit and progressions. She was born on January 1, 1962. Everyone born on or around January 1 is subject to the intense tension of the Uranus-Pluto square. Moreover: her progressed Sun was in the 4th degree of Pisces. Transit Neptune (the symbol of confusion, media, medication, alcohol, isolation and drugs) was conjunct her Progressed Sun.

A chart doesn't give all the answer, certainly not without hour of birth. But the description of the situation as given by her son seems to be adequate. Accidental or suicide or murder? The chart doesn't say more than: a period of intense tension (Uranus-Pluto) and being in a confused state (Neptune-Sun).

Sunanda Pushkar's natal chart had
-  Venus conjunct Mars, rising before the Sun. This signals a passionate woman.
-  Mercury without major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. This 'calling' Mercury tells us about the importance of communications and reason.
The fiery lady is no more and it is still unclear (very Neptune!) what exactly happened in her final hours.

Steven Forrest, a Capricorn astrologer

In the series of astrologers (authors and professionals) and their sun sign, now it's time for Capricorn to see in what way the sun sign influences the astrologer's work. Here is the chart of a well known Capricorn astrologer that I found on Astro.com: the chart of Steven Forrest.
Click for larger picture or go to the Astro.com link above

The astrologer in the chart is often (if not always) shown by important Jupiter-Uranus combinations. In this chart like this:

- Jupiter rises before the Sun
- Uranus is 'calling' (no major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees)
This makes Jupiter and Uranus very important!
- Sun/Jupiter midpoint is sesquisquare Uranus for the 'helicopter view'

Astro.com mentions that he studied religion. For this, see the Sun in aspect with both Jupiter and Neptune. Finally, I like to point at Pallas on the Descendant, mirroring the importance of seeing patterns (and often important in charts of astrologers).

What's Capricorn -the sign of management - to do with that? Perhaps Saturn on Midheaven and Capricorn Sun manifest themselves in the fact that he is Chair of the Kepler College Advisory Council and a member of the ISAR Ethics Committee. The 3rd house cusp is in Capricorn and the ruler of the 3rd house (Saturn) is on Midheaven, while ruler MC is in 3. The importance of the 3rd house and ruler 1 in 9 shows us the 3-9 axis of educations and publishing.

Very Capricorn chart of Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer (founder of Opus Dei)

On January 9, 1902 Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer was born in Barbastro, Spain. On that day, there was a stellium of Sun, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn and Chiron in Capricorn. There was a narrow conjunction of Sun and Saturn. There is a Capricorn Sun/Moon conjunct Saturn. This strongly motivates to be in charge and to organize. There is a strong need to be respected.

This very Cappy chart belonged to the founder of Opus Dei (see Wiki), a Roman Catholic conservative organization of 80.000 member (not the millions of Dan Brown!), that started to do the 'work of God' (that is what Opus Dei means) on October 2, 1928.

It is not surprising to see so much Capricorn and Saturn in this chart. Capricorn is the sign of 'duty', the 'classics', ambition and of a certain conservatism. Sun-Saturn often highlights management qualities. Lots of managers (AND dictators) have a Sun-Saturn aspect (see this post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/03/sun-in-aspect-with-saturn-managing-to.html ).

In the chart of Opus Dei, Neptune rises before the 'calling' Sun, while Mars is 'calling' too. That perfectly describes Opus (Mars!) Dei (Neptune orientation). That Mars is trine the Venus of the founder and exactly conjunct his Neptune (dream came true).

Transit Pluto was opposition the natal Sun, Moon and Saturn of Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer when he founded Opus Dei. This signals that dramatic moment in his life.
Transit Pluto was also inconjunct Uranus (it seems that there was a lot of stress and nerves at the time). In the natal chart of the founder of Opus Dei, Uranus is opposition Pluto. Any transit or progression that connects Uranus and Pluto will be highlighted because of that crucial opposition on the meridian (IC-MC).

Here you see the chart of the founder and the transits of October 2, 1928 (with just one click you get a larger picture).

The Astro ID of Escriva for 10 p.m. is as follows:
1. Mars is 'calling' (for the workaholic)
2. Pluto conjunct Midheaven
3. Uranus opposition Midheaven (semi sextile Sun, Moon, Saturn and Sun/Moon)
4. Uranus rising before the Sun

Uranus is very important. Uranus is the symbol of controversy and semi sextile Sun.  Also, Eris is on the Descendant.

With such an Astro ID with such an important Uranus, it is to be expected that there are very different views of him. A lot of catholics see him as a saint. Others point at his defense of Hitler and France.

I like to point at Venus half semi square Mars, both connected with Neptune (by trine and biquintile) for the man with a romantic-idealistic passion. The Midheaven inconjunct Sun/Moon, Sun, Moon and Saturn, seems to contradict his beatification. He never really fell of his pedestal and didn't have to retire too early. The round hour of birth doesn't seem to fit completely. Maybe they said that it was at about 10. Anyway, I'd liked to place Midheaven right between Neptune and Pluto…

Quoting myself:
Capricorn
Motivated by parents (mostly the father), managers or others of different age or standing. Needs law, order and hierarchy to feel alive and secure. Highlighted responsibility and conservatism. In the family: the cool, serious, responsible and cautious family member, a bit distant (because of age, status or living far away).
In a marriage: rather solid, serious and distant (like the father remembered for cutting the meat every Sunday). No seriously: they are very scrupulous indeed.
This highlighted Capricorn just needs to climb in society and make a career. It depends on many things (chart, genes, gender, circumstances) where that need brings you.
Famous examples are:
- Oprah Winfrey (Sun in Aquarius, Moon in Sagittarius, Sun/Moon in Capricorn)
- Luis Bunuel (Sun Pisces, Moon Sagittarius, conflict with the family because of political choice)
- Annie Lennox (Sun and Moon in Capricorn, Sun/Moon in Capricorn sesquisquare Venus)

The best days of Capricorn 2014

In addition to the best days for Scorpio and Sagittarius, here are those for Capricorn.

Capricorns born between January 3 and Jaunary 19 will have a pleasant start of the New Year, even if they aren't enjoying a holiday and even it they are not in love. That is because Venus is in their sign!
Earlier born Capricorns already enjoyed the nice influence of Venus in November or December 2013. And those born on January 18, 19 or 20 will have to wait until Venus goes direct, in March 2014.

Capricorns have good times in March or April, too, when their Progressed Sun is in good aspect with Venus. Also, the period from the end of May until the final week of June is perfect for holidays and meeting new people (or lovers). And it just doesn't end. The good times return in September and in December (from 10-end). Now, isn't that good news? There is even more good news for some generations. They will have Jupiter on their Uranus. Read about it here: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2012/12/the-good-news-of-2013-and-2014.html

The position of Jupiter in Cancer (a sign opposite Capricorn) allows the Capricorns to join in the happiness of other people. That doesn't mean that there is nothing left for the Capricorn. A person is not a sign and a personal chart has it's own indications of progress or decay. Also, the elder Capricorn might be supported by Jupiter in Cancer. If you were born on January 1, 1954, for example, your will have a beautiful trine of Jupiter with your Sun. That is a great help! There will be a similar moment like that early August 2014, for the Capricorn born on December 30, 1929.

THRILLING
I must add that the Uranus-Pluto square hits many Capricorns born between December 31 and January 6, next year. Please read about that square, about the transits and their meaning and prepare for some hectic times with lots of nerves and changes. It might even look like in a thriller sometimes! So you may need those nice days of 2014...

I hope that the information about your 'best moments' will guide you throughout all that in 2014!

Have a great new solar year!

Saturn Scorpio - Pluto Capricorn and the elderly

In a lot of Western countries the situation of the elderly used to be better than ever before in history. up to now. Unlike the old and ill in history those who were too old to take care of themselves didn't have to depend on children, church or donations. They didn't have to take a blanket and die alone on an icy mountain. They were take  care off by the state.  Pluto in Capricorn and Saturn in Scorpio are symbols of state finance. Now that Pluto is in Capricorn states can't afford to have debts any more. Can they still afford to provide for the elderly?

In my country the State pension for all elderly (regardless of their income or possessions) started in 1956, with Saturn in Scorpio in a narrow square with Pluto in Leo. That was an important moment in history for the elderly and their children. They were liberated. There was less to worry about. Of course, you had to pay (Pluto) taxes (Saturn)...

Most companies also joined a pension fund for their employees. Some of the companies even offered free retirement funds and an early retirement at age 57!

Meanwhile, people got older and older. The generations born after World War II got less children than ever before. They were not needed for future care anymore and the world -including Europe - was overcrowded, they said, in the 60/70's.

We all had a good life and good prospects until the crisis. Technology would conquer and win! We might even live forever in prosperity.
Old man drinking coffee at Fosnes Nursing Home in Norway at Christmas Time by Thomas Bjorkan
The picture shows how comfortable old age looked like...

Now, with Saturn in Scorpio in mutual reception with Pluto in Capricorn they start arguiging about when to retire and about what the elderly should be given.

When in 1956 the first 65+ men and women were enabled to live on their own, people were not against the fact that they had to pay for them. There was more and more money to be earned and the future was bright. Now we see depression all around. Those under the age of 40 fear about their old age and their future and a controversy between the grandparents and grandchildren or parents and children seems to be on the way. When the man or woman aged 40 will be 65+ there will be even less children to provide for them and they will still be paying for the 85+...

There was no problem when there was enough money, but ... this money was invested the wrong way and the governments and employers took away money from the funds in the good years. So now we have a problem (Pluto) with the elderly (Capricorn) that is in fact an economical crisis and political failure of governments without a policy that looked ahead for more than their four years caused all this.
There is no time for taking the old men and women outside, no time for a talk or a walk. And politicians point at family (even if there isn't any and even if the family has to work harder and longer than ever). They must do it. We are back at the starting point. When Saturn is conjunct Pluto, in January 2020, will financing old age start all over again, another way? I'll have to find out more about Saturn conjunct Pluto in history to see what happened. However...

Just like with shares results of the past are no guarantee for the future... That is because the world of the past is not THIS world and the symbol of Pluto in Capricorn differs from history.  I wonder how the situation for the elderly was in the days of Pluto in Capricorn in history.

At least, I didn't have to dive into history about Pluto in Capricorn, because I found an interesting study on Celestial Insight. I'll be back on the conjunction with Saturn in those days...

Quote:
I like to mention Neptune in the 7th house and the Neptune/Pluto combination with the Descendant, pointing at the secret relationship with Lina. In those days in Italy divorce was not easy and in the first half of the last century living with a married man was scandalous. The Moon in Capricorn kept him with his wife and Venus in Aquarius and square Uranus (out of sign) provided the adventurous 'free' love with Lina.

Interesting, how different charts and personalities of people born on about the same day really are... What should unite them are the two final degrees of Capricorn. Contemplation and magnetic personalities for all of them?

Richard Nixon's accurate chart

The chart of President Richard Nixon, provided by Astro.com, has an AA rating. That means that the time of birth is amazingly accurate:). I can see that. On the day that he had to resign there were 6 exact transits:
1. Transit Saturn exactly inconjunct IC and semi sextile Midheaven
Saturn and Midheaven together symbolize an end (Saturn) with a loss involved (inconjunct). Sometimes people fall during a transit of Saturn or break a bone.

2. Transit Jupiter square Midheaven
Jupiter helps, always. Nixon was not prosecuted for Watergate (he received a pardon by his successor Ford). Jupiter-MC is a classical aspect for retirement.

Saturn and Jupiter together reflect ups and downs. Often a combination of Saturn and Jupiter can be seen in the chart during a removal, especially in combination with the IC (house 4: domestic situation). He had to leave the White House.

3.   Transit Node square Ascendant
A difficulty between the community or family and the personal situation...

4.  Progressed chart: Jupiter inconjunct Midheaven
He was blessed, but...he had to give up his position.

5. Progressed chart: Pluto semisquare Midheaven (challenges in public)

6. Transit Mars opposite Chiron (hurt)

Those where only the six exact transits for that day, August 9, 1974. There were more indications at the time, like transit Uranus square Neptune (a hype), Progressed MC semi square Pluto (frustrating challenges and stress) and Transit Pluto inconjunct Progressed Venus (loss of money or value, difficult choices to make with a loss involved). When there is an important moment in life, there are usually more than 3 important transits or progressions.

Here is the chart with transits and progressions:

Sun signs in China

In China Scorpio (and Virgo) people find it hard to get a job. Employers prefer Capricorns, or those born under Libra or Pisces. Is that true? It is a crazy story! Can anybody please tell those bosses that people are not their sun sign and that all signs have necessary qualities? French coach Domenech tried to win with a team without Scorpio's and he failed (but maybe not because of that:). It is a pity that China has no free internet (recently Turkey followed into China's footsteps). And that there are so few of them who speak English. Or else they could join the international astrologer's community and see that there is no reason to force Scorpio's to start their own business and become 'the competition'! Think of that, Chinese employers! (and no, I am not a Scorpio, but I hate it when astrology is being abused to blame or hurt 1/12th of the population). It is a cheap alternative for a psychological test and just another way of making up your mind by using an oracle. The nasty thing is bias and prejudice. Those kinds of qualifications are rather silly, but I am afraid that that is the way that astrology is being used by the millions. And not just in China. Most of us started with sun sign astrology and not with the picture of a chart. And isn't it easy to put a sticker on a person and disqualify or not in a second? It is as childish as avoiding red heads or fat people.

Now that I said this I must admit that shortly after problems with a Gemini I had just a second of second thoughts when I met another one! Just one second! I am only human, sorry! I want to put disclaimers at the end of articles about sun signs, telling people that a person is not a sun sign. Hope that it helps, but I have my doubts! It might be too late for Chinese Scorpio's!

Would you avoid to employ a Scorpio? Do you judge people by their sun sign? Just for one second? Do the poll and choose what sign you wouldn't give a job if you were the manager! Or select: I wouldn't select by sign!

Chart of John Edwards

There seems to be a sex tape made during the campaign, showing Edwards and his lover. That is news, and that is why we see Uranus on his Midheaven. Uranus is often there when there is some kind of a revelation. John Edwards tried to keep it a secret and he denied for a long time that he is the father of the baby of his lover, Rielle Hunter. John Edwards is now divorcing his wife (who is a breast cancer patient).
Transit Pluto is inconjunct progressed Mars and quindecile (165 d) natal Sun now that the sex life of senator John Edwards, former candidate for the presidency, is highlighted (again). The inconjunction between Mars and Pluto forces him to defend himself (at the cost of energy) and the quindecile between Pluto and Sun shows the obsession with his sex life right now.
Where are the astrological excuses? And is his chart the right chart?

IS THIS HIS CHART?
In an accurate chart we can count on the positions of Moon, Ascendant and Midheaven in the natal and progressed chart. The accuracy of the time of birth of John Edwards is in question, so we can't trust some of the data. However, there are a few indications corresponding with what happens and they are related to the positions of the Moon, Ascendant and Midheaven. So, the Astrodatabank chart might be correct.

1. Moon
The Moon sesquisquare Saturn and Neptune seems to be very appropriate considering the fact that his wife is seriously ill. The aspects of the Moon with Saturn and Neptune are also two of the four indications that the astrologer Ram mentioned as indicative for possible divorce (or not marrying at all) in the charts of males.
The other two are hard aspects between Mars and Uranus and between Venus and Neptune; John Edwards has Venus quindecile Neptune (and Saturn)! That is 3! But, Capricorn is on the Descendant! See 2.

2. AC
In the Astrodatabank chart Cancer is the Ascendant. The dispositor of Cancer is the Moon. The seventh house is ruled by Saturn as Capricorn is on the cusp of the Descendant. Afflictions between the rulers of the first and seventh house are also difficult for a marriage. Yet, he didn't divorce at once. Capricorn on the seventh house might have kept him in a marriage because of responsibilities, parenthood or other obligations. Capricon is for consistency! And the ruler, Saturn, is in Libra. Libra is the sign of 'being together'.

3. Progressed Sun/Moon
The progressed Sun/Moon midpoint was square progressed Saturn recently. That is an indication for a depressing period in family life.

4. Midheaven
Last but not least: transit Uranus (ruler 8th house in 1) on Midheaven doesn't seem wrong for a period in life when you are in the news with sexual activities related to your career.

ASTROLOGICAL EXCUSES
John Edwards is a good looking Mr. Nice Guy and probably well to do. That is attracting a lot of ladies. With Moon in Gemini conjunct Jupiter rising before the Sun, he is the popular and positive looking guy. John Edwards also has Venus quintile Uranus, so he has a creative desire for 'something new', 'excitement' and adventures. Uranus is on the Ascendant shows the individualistic approach and an independent and free presentation. The unbearable load of being married, in the chart of good looking individualist...that is asking for problems. It may be lonely at the top sometimes, but not alone!:)

Look at Mars (square MC): Mars is not making aspects within 5 degrees orb. Mars is 'calling', reflecting energy (drive, work or sex) at any possible level. Jupiter is rising before the Sun and Mars is 'calling': that is a statement for success in life and.. for reproduction. He officially has five children now.

There are probably a lot of astrological 'excuses', but I think that Saturn ruling the 7th in Libra and quindecile Venus are what kept him in a marriage that might have ended sooner if his wife hadn't been ill and if there hadn't been children or other material or fundamental issues to remain man and wife. There is a very strong focus (if not an obsession) to be officially married and keep it that way. Also Ceres is on his natal ascendant and Ceres is the symbol of motherly love and care and (in the chart of males) of women.

There are strong indications for separation or adventures and equally strong indications for feeling responsible and sticking like glue to a marriage that in fact might have ended. They match with the story of his life as we know it from the press.

PS GOLDEN YOD
The Astrodatabank chart gives a golden yod between Jupiter, Pluto and Midheaven, with a focus on Pluto, the symbol of power, politics, money and sexual potential. It is the combination for a creative way to achieve success, pointing at Pluto (politics, money). John Edwards tried to become a (vice-) president twice, but he didn’t succeed. One might wonder about the effect of golden yods. They sometimes seem to reflect the opposite (in this case: the difficulties, challenges and problems of the man in a position of wealth and fame).

Pat Robertson blames the victims (but why?)

Here is the chart of the day of birth of a man without much compassion: Pat Robertson. He is a vicar and he has a television audience in the USA. He often has something cruel to say about those who don't follow his rules and ideas. He sort of blamed the victims on Haiti by saying that the earth quake is a result of what their ancestors did in 1791. There is no hour of birth, but we have a Moon in Capricorn conjunct Saturn and an oriental Mars to blame for his attitude. The fact that he likes to draw attention (Sun 'calling', no major aspects in sign) related to religion and beliefs (Neptune) in a disproportionate way (inconjunction) contributes to the effect that a famous vicar can have in the internatonal press.

Mars is rising before the natal Sun, and that gives him the aggression and drive. Sun inconjunct Neptune shows that there is little proportion in his relationship with the media and his beliefs. In fact, his lifestyle might not be in balance with his ideals or vice versa.
Sun inconjunct Neptune...Susan Boyle has it, too. I wrote about it the disappointing effect of this aspect -sort of a 'fallen angle' - (this is the link).

At the moment transit Saturn is exactly square the natal Mars of Robertson. He is in the news, because he blames the victims of Haiti by referring to a myth about Haiti, dated 1791. It is about a -never proven- voodoo ritual in 1791, about slaves offering a pig to their deity (Erzulie Dantor, a local Black Virgin, goddess of love). They asked Erzulie Dantor to free them from the French. Mr. Roberson names Erzulie Dantor a 'devil'. Mr. Robertson says that his God punishes the people on Haiti for this now.
His image of what his God is, is rather martial. Mars makes a hard aspect with Jupiter/Neptune, the combination of religion (for 'driven by faith'). Mars oriental is often seen in the charts of activist, soldiers and of people who act first, think later (at worst). Saturn's square blocks, restricts and limits his energy now that the world expressed anger about his statement. Mars rules his Sun, Saturn rules his Moon in Capricorn, conjunct Saturn.

Why do people blame victims instead of feeling sorry for them? I saw it with the Tsunami, too. They said that the victims had bad past lives. There is no evidence about past lives, it is a belief. Disasters happen, they ' come from the stars' (that is the meaning of ' des astres;). To say that an earthquake is the result of what people do in a religion, is a cruel and not logical or realistic thing to say. It is an offense and it hurts people (even if they don't take him seriously). It seems to me: a sort of shaping emotional distance between you and the victim, so that you don't need to care, feel sad or offer some money to help them out. It is easy to do and it doesn't cost a penny. It is often about money and security. Who needs to give some help or money when God himself punishes the millions, eh? And yes, Moon in Capricorn is an economic moon, they say:) His Moon is conjunct Saturn. CafeAstrology mentions: ' holding people at arm's length' (click to see the interpretation of Moon-Saturn aspects on CafeAstrology.com). Let us say that he is not exactly reaching out...

The chart of Matt Damon, the cool decent guy

A short (and easy) one this time. Short, because Matt Damon himself told the press that little is written about him. That is because he is dull, unlike his fellow movie stars, he said. And why is he different? He married a 'common' woman (not a model, not a star) and is happy with her. Can we see that in the chart? Yes we can.

He has Uranus rising before the Sun and though they are close together there is more than 5 degrees orb. So Sun and Uranus are prominent. Sun-Uranus connections refer to being an 'outsider', a rebel, different from the rest, not a member of the 'old boys network'. Sun rules the 7th house of marriage and partner, Uranus rules the first. So the extraordinary relationship draws attention at any possible level. The 'calling' Sun makes him a star, the 'calling' Uranus makes him different and perhaps that is what drew attention. With Neptune conjunct Midheaven the career is linked to media, fantasy, the world of the immaterial and unreal, yes...the movies: romance and ideals. And Juno (the symbol of the married woman) is opposition Midheaven (she is not part of the jet set).

Why is he 'dull'? The Sun is biquintile Saturn, so that he manages to be in control and in charge in a creative way. The Moon is in Capricorn in the 12th house (he has a need for privacy and respect) and is trine Saturn (for controling impulses and for regularity). But owe! Venus is opposition Saturn (and that is making it hard sometimes). Luckily Mars in Virgo is the bridge. Matt Damon is a decent (Virgo) guy (Mars). What he says matches with his chart.

Still, he is attractive. Male attraction often goes along with Capricorn and Saturn. Women just love those cool guys. See more about why some men are more attractive, on this blog.... The recipe seems to include Libra (and Taurus). Matt Damon is a Libra.

Astrology chart of Mao Tse Tung

One of the founders of the People’s Republic of China and the first President of the nation was Mao Tse Tung. He was born December 26 1893 at 7h30 a.m. in Hsiangtar or Siang Tan. The hour of birth has a C-rating only, according to Astrodatabank, so I will pay more attention to the planets.

The first thing that I notice is that the Sun doesn’t make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. That is ‘peregrine’ or ‘calling’ Sun and it means that he will draw attention at any possible level. This prominent Sun is quintile Saturn (for a creative way to be in charge). He was also born with the Sun in Capricorn and a Leo Moon in a tight square with Uranus. The combination of Capricorn-Leo is not rare in politics or management, neither is the combination of the dispositors of these signs (Sun-Saturn). It involves ambition to be a leader or manager.

The second thing is that the Sun/Moon midpoint for this hour is in aspect with both Saturn and Pluto. It is the combination of the ‘die hard’, the politician who is not afraid of hard confrontations. He is being motivated by ambition and power. More about Saturn and Pluto….

Mars is rising before his prominent Sun. This is reflecting the activist and fighter, a soldier, entrepeneur or promotor.

Conclusion: this is the chart of a die hard political fighter and leader. But where in this chart is the adored God-like person who improved the lives of many and was hated, too, and responsible for the death of millions? I think that progressions and transits on crucial moments in time offered the opportunity to become that person. The chart of Mao (and any other chart) should be read given the conditions and situation at the time and place in history.

- January 1935: Mao becomes the political leader, the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party. That is with Progressed Midheaven opposition Pluto (a challenging position, profit, power). At the same time progressed Jupiter returned to the natal position (successful progress) and it was just after transit Pluto square progressed Saturn (the ‘die hard’ was born).

- In 1942 he married his third wife, Jiang Qing. That was in the year of progressed Sun trine Saturn while the Ascendant afflicted both Saturn and Pluto. He introduced his management practices. Party leaders had to criticize themselves the hard way (so called rectification campaign).

- In 1944 he became the states leader according to the Communist party, but only after a civil war (on October 1, 1949) he became President of the People’s Republic of China. That day the transiting sun was sesqui square progressed and natal Jupiter and trine progressed Pluto (the combination for success). Transit Uranus was opposition Mao’s Sun (life changing) and Saturn was trine the Ascendant (he was respected and made name).

- In order to secure his powerful position he organized the so called Cultural Revolution in 1966. In 1966 there was a conjunction of Uranus and Pluto. This revolutionary aspect was exactly square the progressed Sun of Mao Zedong! Maybe it meant a radical change in HIS life. But it certainly meant a radial change for the people of China.*)

When Mao died on September 9, 1976 transit Uranus was exactly conjunct the progressed Sun of China (see the chart in the earlier post). Also the progressed Sun of China was trine Uranus. It was apparently time for a change and it was of course a shock for his followers. Or liberation…Uranus is the symbol of freedom.

Above you see the natal chart of Mao Tse Tung and the transits on the day of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China. More about China in an earlier post…http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/09/chart-of-china-60-years-old.html

*) This is a good example of the influence of the leaders' chart for his followers.
His transit of dramatic change caused dramatic upheavel, and a lot of arrests and (ruined) lives.

Changing laws, changing charts of laws...

This chart is the chart of the implementation of a Dutch law (the AOW, the general old age law in free translation:) on January 1,1957. This law granted those who were over 65 years old, working or not, rich or poor, an income and ended the dependance of the elderly. This law is subject to discussion these days. Today is the last day that unions and employers have to come up with an idea of how to change this law, read: how to make people work longer. The government wants that people work till 67, employers say that it should be 67 (but starting in 2025) and the unions want flexibility.

The law's chart is a nice chart and it fits. Moon in Capricorn (caring for the old ones) and Jupiter on the Ascendant for support. But now transits and progressions of Saturn threaten to end the nature of the law.

CHANGES, LIMITATIONS
Last month the progressed Sun was inconjunct Uranus and within two years there will be another inconjunction with Uranus (the natal position). It means changes with a loss...

When the law is ripe enough to get a nice 58+ arrangement (in 2015) the progressed Sun will be square Saturn and in 2020 (when the law is 63) progressed Sun is square progressed Saturn. The law is getting OLD! And on the first of January 2013 Saturn is on the law's Ascendant. Should that be A date to start reducing the benefits of this law?

Anyway, Saturn, the planet of aging and limitations is 'hitting' the chart of this law for the elderly and might be marking the end of a period or the end of the law itself.

Astrology works for laws, too:)

Marriage in the chart of Mel Gibson

Transit Uranus is conjunct Mel Gibson's Midheaven and he is in the news because of the end of his longlasting marriage. Mel Gibson is an artist. It is amazing for an artist to be married for so long. What are the indications for the long marriage and what for possible divorce?

LONGLASTING MARRIAGE
There are several indications for a long lasting marriage. First of all, there was the Moon (ruler 1) trine Mercury in 7 for getting married in the first place. He did not divorce as quickly as other actors seem to do, because:

1. Capricorn is on the cusp of the seventh house (if he was born at 16:45). Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, seems to be the sign of what is longlasting, carefull, responsible and cautious.
2. The sextile between Moon ruler 1 and Saturn ruler 7. Moon-Saturn aspects make it hard to show emotions and make it easy to follow into the footsteps of a parents, doing the right thing (just like it should) and feeling responsible for the children and the family. Mel Gibson's wife left him 3 years ago. It took 3 years to divorce. I have an example in my files of somenone that I know. She lives separate from her husband for more than 3 years now and she has Moon (and Sun) in Capricorn semi sextile Saturn. They did not divorce (yet). To consolidate a habit is easy with Moon - Saturn.
3. The amount of positions in fixed signs. The fixed signs show perseverence and strong will.
Look at Venus quintile Saturn (for a creative way to remain married or to live apart together).
4. Saturn oriental (serious, responsible, parenthood, status, respect, wanting security)
Capricorn and Saturn sometimes over value the importance of status and 'what people might think' and they want to be 'descent'. That, having children together and responsibilities (or costs! Capricorn is economic!) is sometimes a reason to keep a marriage going that is already on it's end. Mel Gibson's friends are rather conservative and so is he. Saturn oriental**) reflects the conservative style.

So there were at least 4 reasons for the fact that he remained married for so long. But, now he is about to divorce.

DIVORCE
An indication for divorce*) is the opposition between Mercury in the 7th house and Uranus in the 1st house. Mercury in the 7th house is strongly afflicted. There is an inconjunction with Jupiter and Pluto (for wealth and fame). It means that his success has a price and the place to pay is marriage and ...money, perhaps in a disproportionate amount. Mercury is opposition Uranus in the first house for disagreements in marriage. The opposition is out of sign (and maybe was out of the public's sight:), but tight. Mercury is square Neptune (out of sign again, but tight). The success in communications and in the world of fantasy (including religious belief) is evident. Mercury is in aspect with Jupiter-Pluto and Neptune. Mercury is trine the Moon, ruler 1 (out of sign again). That made it easy to get married. But the opposition with Uranus shows opposition between him and a partner based upon opposing opinions.
Second indication: Moon semi sextile Neptune.
Third indication: the influence of the afflicted Sun on the Descendant (having the starring role).
Fourth indication: Venus is 'calling'*) in Aquarius, the sign of liberty and independence.

There are also indications for difficulties with women or relationships in general:
- a quindecile between Venus and Pluto
- a sesquisquare between Moon and Venus
The same aspects that attribute to artistic talent make it difficult to keep relations going (for example: attraction, sensitivity, romantic ideals).

PRIVACY
He and his partner want to have privacy in this matter. Sun quintile Neptune and sesquisquare Pluto, Moon semi sextile Neptune and Pluto, Mercury square Neptune and Pluto...The Neptune/Pluto combination of the silent force and of discretion is very active in his chart.

*) In the chart of a man indications for divorce are:
Moon afflicted by Saturn
Moon afflicted by Neptune
Venus afflicted by Neptune
Mars afflicted by Uranus
Afflictions between the 1st and 7th house (rulers and/or planets in the houses).

When a person is so famous, it is difficult to keep a secret and that is another way to reflect the combination of Neptune (the secret) and Pluto (difficulties).

THE ARTIST
The astrological pattern for the artist in the chart of Mel Gibson is:

- Moon sesquisquare Venus (sense of art and style)
- Venus 'calling' (vocation for style, beauty and entertainment)
- Moon in Libra (sense of art)
- Pisces MC (career in the media, religion or 'empathic' business)
- Neptune quintile Sun and Midheaven (creative fantasy, double identity - pretending to be someone, like actors do -)
- Moon semi sextile Neptune (sensitivity)
- Sun/Moon in aspect with Mercury and Neptune (the reigning need of telling tales)
- Sun opposition AsC (for drawing attention)

I found his hour of birth on Star IQ.

*) I name a planet a calling planet (important for the vocation) when a planet does not make a major (Ptolemaic) aspect in sign or orb 5 degrees. Venus 'calling' refers to the attraction of entertainment, beauty, style and art.
**) When Saturn rises before the Sun (that is the 'oriental' Saturn) the nativity is first of all oriented on official status (in education or in marriage).

The progressed chart and how one grows into a position (like Obama)

People grow from the minute that they were born. People develop in a certain direction. That development in astrology is symbolized by progressions*). Now what if a person was not a 'born leader' but developed and progressed to become one? I see that this development is visible in the progressed chart of Barack Obama.

Astrologers all over the world have been wondering about the birth chart of Barack Obama and the 'president in the chart'. So did I, until his birth time revealed that the Sun in Leo is the final dispositor of the Midheaven. But that is the only real sign for leadership and it takes a lot of imagination to see a Midheaven in Scorpio with a Sun as final dispositor of the MC as a sign for a presidential career. All Leo's born with a Scorpio MC are born presidents if THAT would be the indication (though they may be a leader in their professional field, of course).

But if the progressed chart of Obama was his natal chart, the politician would have been visible right away. I will show you how. Here below is the progressed chart of Barack Obama for Election Day.

Look at Pluto - symbol of power and politics - oriental (rising before the Sun) and at Saturn on top - for management - with MC in Capricorn - for administration. The progressed chart shows how he is growing in his role.
Less fortunate is the development that the combination of Mars-Saturn-Pluto is getting tighter in progression. Mars square Saturn (ruler 10) and semi square Pluto is indicating (and Saturn sesquisquare Pluto) at least: increasing political battles or difficulties, and possibly a growing danger related to his position. At the moment Mars is exactly square Saturn ruler 10 in his progressed chart. He made it (ruler 1 square ruler 10) by hard work (Mars-Saturn) and right now Pluto (money issues!) are frustrating his goals. Saturn in conflict with Pluto requires political 'die hards', because this aspect will confront a person with the disadvantages of politics. So I don't think that Obama will have an easy period ahead, though fortunately the amount of support and goodwill that he created will help him to succeed. This help is astrologically coming from Jupiter (transit Jupiter trine progressed Sun). He might need it.

MORE EXAMPLES
Of course this picture given by the progressed chart could be just coincidence. But it is not. I show you some example charts: the progressed chart of Joe Biden on Inauguration Day, the progressed chart of Pope Benedict when he was elected, the progressed chart of Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands on the day of her coronation, the progressed charts of Grace Kelly and Christopher Reeves on the day of their accident… There are crucial angular placements in the progressed charts. Like the EXACT position of Mars in the middle of Saturn and Pluto in the progressed chart of Jacqueline Bouvier on the day that violent death changed her life.

I think that the progressed chart (the progressions in aspect with the progressions AND the angular or oriental placements in the progressed chart) is a valuable tool to see if important changes are to be expected in the coming year. And to find out in what direction a nativity has grown or meet challenges.

VP JOE BIDEN

POPE BENEDICT

QUEEN BEATRIX

CHRISTOPHER REEVES

GRACE KELLY

JACQUELINE BOUVIER

*) What are progressions?
The movement of the positions in a day = the movement of the positions in a year, in progressions. Why? It is because from a particular place on earth the whole surrounding sky is visible in a day and the movement of earth around the Sun shows the complete sky, too, I have been told. So what you see in a day is what you will see in the year to come. The progression of a person in a day reflects the progression of a person in a year. The solar return chart completes the picture with the true position (transits) related to the position of the Sun at birth.

Progressed charts are strongly related to natal charts and should be read and considered in combination with the findings about the birth chart and the transits of the moment.

Astrology chart Indira Gandhi,
born November 19

Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi was born on November 19, 1917 in Allahabad, India. She was the only child of the first prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. Here you see the natal chart of Mrs. Gandhi with an angular Uranus and Saturn (sesquisquare Zero Aries), Mars oriental, and Ceres the first planet to rise before the Sun, angular and crucial on the IC. Mrs. Gandhi was born in an influencial and important family. Her father and the dynasty (Saturn and Ceres) were important for her position in life. Seen in the light of that position we could read Cers on the IC like this: mother (Ceres*) of the nation (IC).

MOON IN CAPRICORN: Need to be in charge
Moon in Capricorn is 'void of course'. I use that term for the natal moon, even though it is generally being used in horary charts. I mean that the Moon will not make any more aspects in sign. The latest aspect was the sextile with the Sun. Moon in Capricorn shows a need to be in control and is symbolizing an urge for a career. Given the importance of Saturn (being related to Zero Aries and close to the Ascendant and 'calling') this Moon in Capricorn tells us a lot about the personality of Indira Gandhi. Saturn is often prominent in the charts of people involved in the administration.
Together with the Sun in Scorpio, this Moon gives the ability to withstand political adversities. The rulers of Scorpio and Capricorn are Saturn and Pluto. Those planets symbolize the 'die hard'.

SANJAY
Indira Gandhi lost her son Sanjay due to an aero plane crash on June 23, 1980. Observations of the transits, progessions and the solar return chart show a Mars-Uranus connection, indicating shock and injury.
That day Mars was inconjunct her Uranus, symbolizing the accident. Transit Mars was also opposition her Midheaven and transit Uranus was sextile her ASC, while transit Sun was square Mars.
Ceres is in her solar return 8th house of life and death in the year of her son's death, 1980. That was also the year in which her progressed Sun changed sign for a change in life or lifestyle.

MURDERED
She did not die a natural death. She was murdered by a Sikh guard a few months after she ordered to attack a temple, an attack that cost the life of about 1000 persons. On the day of her death the tightest aspect was that of transit Saturn opposition the Midheaven. For the issue of unnatural death we see several indications:
- Mars semi square the midpoint Saturn/Pluto and
- Vulcanus 67.5 degrees from ASC/MC and semi square Pluto/MC.

When she died, it was with the Moon conjunct Midheaven (change!) in the progressed chart and the progressed ASC was opposition progressed Sun/Pluto (for a life endangering situation). The progressed Uranus and Pluto were sesquisquare for a revolutionary change.

ABOUT CERES
*)Ceres, btw, also symbolizes inheritance. The angular position of Ceres points at the crucial importance of the symbol of Ceres in her life. For more about Ceres, see the earlier post.

ASTROLOGY CHART JOHNNY DEPP
The most beautiful or the sexiest man in the world today

Did you happen to see the most beautiful man in the world? It is Johnny Depp, born June 9, 1963, 8h44 CST Owensboro KY, according to the readers of the British Cosmopolitan. The pirate was born with Jupiter oriental, the Sun without Ptolemaic aspects within 5d of orb, and Neptune square Ascendant. That is a sort of a guarantee for success when you are in the movies. Why? Because, when an important planet rises before the Sun, this planet is prominent. And the placement square the ASC is a crucial placement in the chart. The Sun making no aspects is a 'calling' Sun and the Sun is a star* (he had a vocation to be a star). Jupiter = success and Neptune = movies. Jupiter is inconjunct Neptune. Jupiter is ruler 5 = play, games and show. Neptune = ruler 8 = sex, power, money and influence. Jupiter + Neptune = the issue of the devoted public (in the movies, or in religion or we talk about: fans and believers)...A successful (Jupiter) movie (Neptune) star (Sun). Sometimes astrology is easy!:)

And BTW: Jupiter and Neptune are linked to the Moon and the Ascendant.

COOL CAPRICORN AND SATURN
In the charts of good looking males, Saturn or Capricorn is important always. Depp has Moon in Capricorn and Venus square Saturn makes him just about 'cool' enough. And there is the 'calling' Sun for drawing attention.

Venus rules the Midheaven and is conjunct Mercury: a talent for communicating! The tightest aspect is Moon square Jupiter: the need for success, growth and support. Well, the Cosmopolitan ladies support him! Of course they do. He has Jupiter trine Ascendant and that is a fortunate position. It sure helps to present yourself the best possible way. And shall we say that Mars trine MC is for sexy?

I wrote about Depp before (see the files of Astromarkt):

12th January 2007
KEITH RICHARDS/JOHNNY DEPP
Keith Richards will be part of the cast of the 3rd volume of Pirates of the Caribbean. Johnny Depp (born 9th June 1963 at 8:44 in Owensboro, KY, USA) once said that he was inspired by Keith Richards for the way he acted as Captain Jack Sparrow. Pluto of Johnny Depp is EXACTLY on the MC (= imago) of Keith Richards and Pluto is among other things: the planet of influence.

But there is another remarkable connection between the two. Johnny Depp was born with Neptune right on the lowest spot in the charts (and that is a prominent place). Jupiter is oriental. The combination of Jupiter and Neptune prominent is indicative for (for example) actors.

Keith Richards (18th December 1943 at about 6 in Dartford, UK) has Jupiter on top and Neptune is oriental (sort of a reverse of Depp!). Now that he finally can be and actor Keith has both Mars and Pluto trine Jupiter (a combination of success).

For music we see in the chart of Richards: Venus and Uranus both in aspect with the MC. And as astrologers we are immediately struck by the combination of Moon, Jupiter and Pluto on top: indication for an enormous popularity!
