Venus is Out of Bounds

Today, Venus is Out of Bounds. Out of Bounds planets (or Moon) have a declination more than 23d25m16s, that is the latitude of the tropic of Cancer. The southern latitude is 23d25m14.4s. That's the highest point of the Sun on either side. Sometimes the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Uranus and Pluto or on a degree of declination where the Sun will never be. That is when they are out of bounds. It is like being 'offside'. When a planet or the Moon is Out of Bounds, they become more important and 'out of the box'. Read about it here:
Today Venus has a declination of 23d39m37s: Out of Bounds!

Don't expect an OOB Venus to have a special meaning on her own. Venus is the symbol of whatever pleases the senses, like beauty, sweetness or style. It is the most esthetic planet of them all. That is why artistic and diplomatic persons need an important Venus**). On the other hand: having such a Venus doesn't make you an artist or a diplomat or a beauty. It always takes more...(Beauties, BTW, often have a Venus-Uranus aspect related to the Ascendant. Examples are Tatjana Simic - June 9, 1963 in Zagreb - and Angelina Jolie).
I am good example of having an OOB Venus (23d54m) without being a model, a diplomat or an artist. Maybe that is because my Mercury at 25d12m is much more OOB than Venus is?

Here is an example of a good looking woman who manages to not even be nice or kind with an OOB Venus.

An American TV personality named Britt McHenry was born on May 28, 1986 in Mount Holly NJ. That was on a day with Venus Out of Bounds. What she did last week shows that having a certain eye for esthetics doesn't necessarily make you a kind person, too. Last week she had transit Saturn inconjunct progressed Sun, which symbolizes a good moment to fall off your pedestal. As in her natal chart the Sun is opposition Saturn, this transit worked harder than in the charts of other persons*). Saturn happens to have the meaning of 'to criticize and be criticized', and that proofs to be quite correct, because Britt was suspended after verbally abusing and ridiculing an employee, re her appearance and education level. The video of it went viral...

Apparently she had no eye for the beauty of Willendorf's Venus (above).

So what to expect now that Venus is Out of Bounds? I hope that it means a beautiful spring and out of the box peace in the world. Have a nice Sunday!

**) More ways to become an important planet: to be on an angle (angularity), to make no major aspects within 5 degrees orb or in sign (='calling') or to rise before the Sun (as Moon or outer planet).

Valentine's Day 2015

Happy Valentine!

The chart of Valentine’s day 2015 looks good for lover’s fun. Why? Because Venus is biquintile Jupiter and that's good for creative parties and marriages. Those who celebrate their birthday or will be born on February 14, 2015 may have more than one reason to congratulate themselves. It is the weekend before Carnaval and that is a weekend of music and funny events in the southern part of my country.

It is a good day, but of course: not for all of us. Life and love happens to depend more on genes, situation and circumstances beyond our choices than on our character, feelings and astrology chart. And not to mention: age! I had Progressed Sun conjunct Venus when I was 6 and could have met the love of my life!:)

This year’s Valentine’s day starts in Western Europe with Juno elevated conjunct MC. Juno, you know, is the symbol of the wedded wife and marriage. Meanwhile, Venus and Mars in Pisces are in the 5th house of ‘the other gender’ or playmates, so it is a nice chart to start with.

This Valentine’s Day it is not true that blonds have more fun. Any hair color will have a nice Valentine’s day if their birthday is on March 12 or 13, and Venus is on your natal Sun. Peter Doherty , who completed rehab in January this year, is such a lucky person. But, dear readers, there is a DISCLAIMER!
Transits of Venus are fast, go bye in a second and are light hearted. So if you happened to look the other way, you won’t even notice the beauty when she goes. Important things like meeting a partner happen in important astrological times. That is when there are more than 2 indications.

So, Venus should best be accompanied by progressions in case of serious plans in love. If you just want to have some fun or send a kind little present, Venus’ transits will do.

These days, Valentine's Day is the day that you celebrate with your loved one. Once it was a friends' day. And there was a time when Valentine was a secret lover.  Valentine is flexible. So am I. I use not to use sun signs, but let me have some fun and tell you about your sun sign Valentine day:

ARIES
Lots of Valentine's Days, Aries have a Venus in the 12th house position and that is great for sending flowers, chocolate and cards to secret loves.

TAURUS
Celebrating Valentine's Day with friends? Have a party!

GEMINI
You may use Valentine's Day to ask or be asked to get married this year. If you already found your love, why not tell the world about it?

CANCER
Your home is your castle, but maybe this year you should ask your partner for a ride or a flight. If you are single, find your love in a library, a plane, abroad or in a travel agency. No gain, no pain.

LEO
Don't buy diamond rings if you can't afford them!

VIRGO
Looking for passion? Or is the romantic dwell of Venus and Mars in Pisces too much? In that case, go to the cinema and see a movie like Fifty Shades. Afterwards, have an ice cream.

LIBRA
Though you like to take it easy, the best way to demonstrate your love is to serve others this year. My advice is to find an easy and clean way to do so.

SCORPIO
Bet you are the most desirable and passioned lover this Valentine's weekend! Or maybe you always are?

SAGITTARIUS
Love is in the air of the bar, dancing place or cinema for you this Valentine.

CAPRICORN
Talking about love and sex this Valentine weekend? Talk to someone special...

AQUARIUS
Find your love and passion in a bank or in the country this Valentine! And if you have one, show your appreciation!

PISCES
Perfume, roses and a good movie complete Valentine's Day. You are in the mood!

Your personal horoscope can be matched with the advices above, easily, wherever you are.
Keep it cool, be nice and have a great weekend!

Use the links for when you are in the mood for romance…

A Juno experience

In an earlier post I asked myself if Juno represents Mr or Mrs Right (follow the link to see the post).  I found that if that is true, there are many possible Mr or Mrs Rights in our lives, because there happens to be a variety of transits and progressions with Juno in a life time. Of course, you need to have the right age and circumstances to experience Juno. This week I am one of the examples. I am married for decades, but I signed a civil partnership document, as a witness, in a State Hall. It was my son's official happy day. Juno was there, too.

1. I had transit Juno exactly conjunct my progressed Midheaven.
2. My daughter in law had Progressed Venus - her ruler 7 - on the progressed Descendant and trine the Progressed Midheaven. Her progressed Juno was exactly square the processed Ascendant and inconjunct progressed IC.
Venus AND Juno are both signs of marriage.

To complete it all, the transit Northern Node was conjunct her and my son's Ascendant, symbolizing joining as a family. My son had transit Jupiter trine progressed Moon in the 7th house for the happy moment. Juno didn't hit his natal or progressed chart, but progressed Venus ruler 7 was on the natal midpoint of MC and Mars.

My conclusion: Juno is indeed a symbol of partnership and marriage. I experienced it.

Divorce in the chart

As charts are to be seen in the context of history, genes, gender, social position and culture there is no world wide guide line for marriage or divorce. A chart mirrors what is below. ('So above, so below' is also 'So below, so above').

Astrologer Ram found a pattern in the charts of divorced persons and in the charts of those who never get married at all. That was in the first half of the 20th century, so that we need to see the pattern in the context of history. It was exceptional to divorce in those days.
Today, it is much easier to divorce and (at least in Western Europe) nobody cares if you marry or not (and still live together as one). So things have changed. Also, the rich and those who live in the world of 'stars' find it less easy to stay married and easier to divorce. That is why they don't need that much of the found indications as in those days.

The indications

For men and women it is not good for long lasting marriages to have conflicts between the Ascendant and Descendant (the first and seventh house. So when there is a conflict between ruler 1 and ruler 7 or positions in the 1st and 7th house, there is problem in living together as one couple.

Difficult hard aspects for men are:
- Moon in conflict with Saturn
- Moon in conflict with Neptune
- Venus in conflict with Neptune
- Mars in conflict with Uranus

Difficult hard aspects for women are:
- Sun in conflict with Mars
- Sun in conflict with Uranus
- Venus in conflict with Uranus
- Mars in conflict with Saturn

More of those afflictions increase the possibility of separations. With 2 or more of those indications it is harder to stay with the first marriage partner or… it is harder to get married at all.  Almost every time that I write about divorce, here or on Astrology&Love, I mention these findings.*)
AND...
Venus in Aries and Mars in Libra aren't stimulating relationships, I noticed. Venus is the mundane ruler of Libra and the 7th house. Mars is the ruler of the 1st house and of Aries. When they are in each other's sign, that is a weak placement for relationships.

LINKS
1. In 'How long will this love be going on?' I mention the power of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) in holding on to what they 'got', so that it takes them longer to decide that separation is the best. (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/03/how-long-will-this-love-be-going-on.html ) But it is never the other way around. Barbara Streisand has many placements in fixed signs and she divorced.

2. In 'Multiple marriages, double bodied signs and Jupiter in 7' there are examples of divorce related to the 7th house cusp and Venus in the movable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces).
a. Barbara Streisand 'had enough' on Mars semi sextile Saturn and ruler 7 Venus in Pisces, quintile Uranus. But she is star.
b. Zsa Zsa Gabor (6 February 1915, 20:08 CET Budapest) married 8 times. Her chart has Venus in Capricorn square Aries Point, but she has Pisces on the cusp of the 7th house and the ruler of Pisces (Neptune) is 'calling', biquintile Mercury ruler 1. Picture it: ruler 1 Mercury biquintile the 'calling' Neptune ruler 7 for a creative (biquintile) way to relate at any kind of level...
So there are also creative and 'easy' aspects pointing at divorce.
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/02/multiple-marriages-double-bodied-signs.html

3. Danny de Vito was talking about divorce. There were very few indications for divorce in the natal chart, but it is harder for a rich man:)
http://astrology-love-romance.blogspot.nl/search/label/divorce

Here are some examples of following 'the rules' of Ram:

I. In 'Divorce and the charts of women' you see the pattern in the charts of Caroline and Stephanie of Monaco
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/07/divorce-in-charts-of-women.html

II. Elvis and Priscilla Presley divorced. Elvis had Venus sesquisquare Neptune and Mars-Uranus biquintile.
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/03/famous-couple-elvis-and-priscilla.html

III. Roger Vadim and Brigitte Bardot had 'the indications' as you may see in this post on Astrology&Love that I quote here:
" Vadim married more than once. Moon square Saturn and Mars square Uranus are two of the indications for divorce in a man’s chart. Bardot has Mars opposition Saturn and a double bodied sign on the seventh house cusp to illustrate the risk of divorce or separation. She married three times. She is now still married with number three, a right conservative politician."
Use this search label 'divorce to find that story and more on Astrology&Love: http://astrology-love-romance.blogspot.nl/search/label/divorce

IV. More personal example: a family member (female) with Sun and Venus square Uranus and ruler 1 in conflict with ruler 7. She married and divorced twice.

V. Princess Anne of England married twice. Her natal charts has 3 out of the 4 indications for divorce for women*) and a conflict between the rulers of the 1st and 7th house. That is enough for at least one divorce.

VI.  Princess Irene has all of the four aspect combinations of possible divorce in her chart, but only 2 of them are difficult (the square and the quindecile):
- Sun binovile Uranus (going your own way, regardless of other’s opinions),
- Venus quintile Uranus (creative adventures in love) and
- Mars square Saturn (seperation from a man, dead ends) with
- Sun quindecile Mars

As I said, it is the context (the culture) that 'does it'. It is also the character that does it. Sometimes there is a 'happy divorce'. Sometimes circumstances change very much and it is the progressed chart that contains the indications for separation or divorce. People are individuals (most of them:). Yet, maybe sometimes, the natal chart is involved:).

*) PS I find it interesting that the conflicts between Moon, Venus and Neptune are also found in the pattern of artistic talents… (see Art&Astrology).

Venus quindecile Ceres on Xmas

Venus, Bacchus, Ceres en Amor (Cornelis Cornelisz)
The chart of Xmas night (I mean December 25, zero hours) has an aspect that is very much in line with what will be happening on Xmas day: Venus is quindecile Ceres. Remember my tweets about Ceres and cooking and nutrition? Ceres with Venus is also the symbol of motherly love and the love to nurture. It is such a proper aspect for those Xmas days of luxury food! I'll tell you why.

1. Venus is the symbol of preferences, style, sweetness, beauty, entertainment, love and pleasure.
2  Ceres is important in the natal charts of famous chef cooks. Julia Child, for example, started making recipes when her progressed Sun was opposition Ceres!
3. Venus and Ceres both like comfort and to comfort...

So...I hope that your Xmas dinner will be prepared by someone who loves (Venus) to nurture (Ceres) and that you will love (Venus) the cook (Ceres) with the strong and fanatic focus (165 degree aspect) required by the quindecile, even if you can hardly chew the turkey.

OK There is a risk. Because of the quindecile there is a risk that you might focus too strongly on YOUR preferences (also a Venus thing) when it comes to consume or prepare dinner, but if you have such strong desires, please consider that there is another way to read this aspect combination.

Venus, Bacchus, Ceres and Amor by Jacob de Wit

Venus-Ceres is also a proper mirror of the 'loving family' that so many of us cherish in the final days of December. The symbols of "to please your loved ones" and "to nurture"  are connected by a somewhat obsessive aspect. The new born baby's of December 24/25 might love to cook or be fanatic loving mothers, born to cook. Maybe they will become men who see women as their caretakers? We will know what the result of this aspect will be in the years to come. Knowing that this Xmas love and nurture are bound together might help you to choose the right ingredients for Happy Holidays!
The aspect will be over as soon as the family and friends return to reality, anyway:)!

Wish you a Merry Christmas, something sweet for dinner and a peaceful gathering around the table, with nice company:).

(Those who don't celebrate Xmas might use this aspect to prepare a nice supper or to take care of someone special. Or why not buy a book about cooking? It is up to you how you will use the strong focus on motherly love and pleasant nutrition in the next two days.)

See you after Christmas!

Guess what happened? an easy one for beginners...

In 2004 I was co-managing The Astrologer's Forum (owner was Gene Ray, author of this article about the Age of Aquarius). One of the things that I liked to join or start myself was the guess chart 'game' (guessing what happened at a certain moment in a person's life). With famous persons it is hard not to cheat and 'google' it, but if you would do that, you'd ruin a chance to crush your brains while thinking it over. It isn't easy, because astrology is hard to do 'the other way around'. Symbols symbolize a lot of words and images and it is the situation that creates the real story.  Gender, genes, social position and culture are important keys, but you will see how difficult it is to find the answer. That is why I start with an easy one, a 'you can hardly miss this'-case. Sometimes charts are almost too obvious! (And sometimes they are not at all, but that is for a later post:).

GUESS....
What might happen in the life of a young man in a period with:
1. Progressed Venus conjunct Sun
2. Progressed Venus trine Jupiter
and on or around a specific day in that period he has:
2. Transit Neptune trine progressed Venus
3. Transit Neptune trine Sun
4. Transit Uranus inconjunct Midheaven

CLUES
What you see is that there are 3 aspects with Venus. That makes you think of the rule of 3, of course and of what Venus means (for a man).  BTW, Venus is also the symbol for making it easy, just like trines do!

Venus, Ceres and the Molasses Disaster

For some reason my attention was drawn to the Boston Molasses Disaster of January 15, 1919. Maybe it was an article about ‘The Folklorist’ ( a new TV program). Or is it transit Venus sesquisquare my progressed Ceres? Anyway, I searched for the hour of the moment of disaster and it was mentioned in urbanlegends.about.com: 12.40 pm. What struck me in the chart was the conjunction of sweet Venus and Ceres, the symbol of nutrition. Together they make a sweet thing to eat, and maybe in a fairy tale the flood after the explosion of a molasses tank, would be a kind, tasty and happy river, but it certainly wasn’t a nice product then. It was hot, sticky, fast and an 8 feet high wall of candy-to-be that killed 21 and injured about 150 people (and horses and dogs). The (public domain) picture above was found on http://jerileewei.hubpages.com/hub/Death-by-Molasses, where you find the complete story with more pictures, a map and a recipe for those with self control:).

The most important positions in the chart of the disaster are for Venus and Ceres, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Quaoar. The tightest aspects are:
-      Venus conjunct Ceres (sweet food)
-      Pluto inconjunct MC (transformation of a state, involving a loss and a problem)
-      Quaoar square Ascendant (creating a new situation or perspective)
-      Saturn-Uranus-Ascendant (unexpected sudden blockade or end)
It is also important that the Ascendant is changing sign, introducing a new situation.

The Venus-Ceres conjunction happens to be one of the tightest aspects, in opposition with the angular Neptune. Neptune is for chemicals.

Such a chart can’t (of course) predict a disaster. It is just describing what could have happened at a certain critical moment in time and place (MC-Ascendant) on a day that luxury food (Venus-Ceres) was an issue. If you have a Venus-Ceres aspect in your chart, sweet candy might be an issue for you. At the moment, with a frustrating sesquisquare between them, it is apparently an issue for me:). So I will skip that recipe!

Venus in Virgo and aspects with Venus

Venus is in Virgo now. When you are a Leo, Virgo or Libra, your Venus might be  in Virgo in your birth chart. When Robert de Niro was born, Venus was also in Virgo. I want to write about Venus in Virgo and about the aspects with Venus. First I want to tell you about transit Venus in Virgo inconjunct my progressed Sun last week at the office, making me extraordinary happy with the kind and efficient (yep! Venus in Virgo) contribution and explanation of someone. Venus is the symbol of pleasure and joy, and Virgo is the sign of daily work. But how to read Venus in Virgo in birth charts?

In the post about Virgo I mention more VIPs born with Venus in Virgo, like: Bob Geldoff, Andrea Bocelli, J.K. Rowling, Mick Jagger, Eminem, Vicky Leandros, Julio Iglesias and Carl Orff. So you see that just like a Sun in Virgo, a Venus in Virgo is diverse. The position and aspects of Venus are important for the nuances of Venus in Virgo. Venus is part of the complete chart and can't be considered isolated. But if we do, we see Virgo in the charts of ‘cool’ men, especially when there is an aspect with Saturn. Virgo is a cool sign, like Capricorn. Saturn is the symbol of cold.  Cool men are attractive. In classic novels for ladies the hero is often a distant, cool employer. Maybe a male Venus in Virgo is attracted to his servants? I am just thinking… Or maybe it is just the other way around: attractive men have Venus and/or the Moon in cool signs like Capricorn or Virgo and/or in an aspect with Saturn, like for example George Clooney. De Niro has Venus opposition Saturn.
I have written about the happy Virgin Virgo, but Venus in Virgo doesn't mean that you don't get married. Here are the names of some Venus in Virgos who married more than once: Ingrid Bergmann, John Lennon, Roger Moore and François Mitterand.
Ingrid Bergmann married twice and had an affair (a scandle in those days).
Roger Moore even married four times.
Francois Mitterand had Venus in Virgo and Jupiter in the 7th house. He had several mistresses. Maybe he just couldn't make up his mind as there was something not perfect about every one of them? That would be sooo Virgo...:)

But it would be discriminating to put it that way. There are a lot of other symbols of possible divorce in a chart (see the PS). If Venus in Virgo had the same resonation in every chart, 1/12 of the world would be exactly the same. The names of people with Venus in Virgo already show that they are quite different. The difference is in the position of Venus, the aspects with Venus, culture, gender and social status. Example: when your Venus in Virgo is in aspect with Mars, there is passion in you or in your love life, and with Uranus there would be hot excitemtent, so where is the Virgo then? Maybe it is in the way that you demonstrate to be fond of hygiene. Or maybe it is in the way that you look at your partner's wrongly chosen combination of clothes. I don't know. People generally don’t tell us all about their intimate lives and there are no stats about it. So if you study your (or anyone’s) Venus in Virgo, consider the position of Venus and the (major and minor) aspects (also with Sun/Moon and AC/MC) and the midpoint combinations with Venus... Also never forget about the complete chart, conditions, situation, gender and culture. All that doesn't make it easy to isolate the reflection of the sign. So let's go to the aspects...

ASPECTS WITH VENUS (and many links)
Venus is (of course) of importance in the charts of artists and musicians. They often have combinations of Moon, Venus and Neptune with Midheaven  in their charts. See Art&Astrology for dozens of examples.

When Venus doesn’t make any aspect in sign or orb 5 degrees, Venus is ‘calling’. Charm, diplomacy, beauty…it will be all there at any possible level, like in the chart of first lady Nancy Reagan or in the chart of President Zuma, who has a lot of first ladies (http://astropost.blogspot.com/2010/01/multiple-first-ladies-venus-is-calling.html)

PS
An explanation about the indications for a divorce..
In a man's chart they are:
Hard aspects between Moon and Saturn or Neptune, Venus and Neptune, Mars and Uranus.
In a female's chart they are:
Hard aspects between Sun and Mars or Uranus, Venus and Uranus, Mars and Saturn.
And in the charts of both genders:
Afflictions between the 1st and 7th house (rulers)

I found that Venus in Aries or Mars in Libra do not make relationships easy. Neither does the placement of Neptune on the horizon in the charts of females. Hard aspects between Moon, Venus and/or Mars illustrate that it may be hard to find a match (and so the nativity needs to compromise).

When one chart is up and the other one is down...

How can you laugh when you know I'm down?!
That must have been written by someone who is familiar with the situation of one person having T Saturn in aspect with natal or progressed Sun,MC or Asc or Moon...next to someone with transit Venus trine Sun or another nice transit that makes you count your blessings. When a family member has reason enough to feel down, how can you be happy and full of joy? You will be influenced by the other (and more if you care much about this person and/or if you are sensitive and compassionate).
So, how CAN you laugh with Venus, then? Silently? Smiling? Or should Venus just give access to the candy shop, smooth and swiftly?:) How to read these two charts and the effect on each other? I will give it a try.
BTW I don't mean the situation of having fun because of someone else's misfortune. This is about LOVED ones and meant for those who care about others.

MINOR ASPECTS INVOLVED?When two people are close and their charts have tight synastry aspects, the Saturn transit might hit the chart of the other person, too. Perhaps in a minor aspect (not directly visible, but underneath, for example a transit of Saturn with Sun/Moon). And the Venus trine might help the other, not directly but by comforting the other. Comfort (in both senses) belongs to Venus, too. Helping your loved ones makes you feel good. And for the Saturn-transit-person: trying not to be too down when you are in the company of someone who just had good news might (just for a minute) lift you up a bit, too. Or when someone is scared and fears the critics (the Saturn person) the Venus person might cheer him/her up and give some compliments. The situation reminds me of the final jury in a contest, when two persons just heard that one has lost and the other is the chosen one. The loser pretends to be happy for the winner and the winner tries to comfort the loser and be happy at the same time. Difficult! That is why I don't sing!:)

SO...When people are close you should also consider the chart or charts of the loved ones. They color the meaning of transits and progressions, just like the emotions of  your loved ones color yours.

A chart has to be seen in the light of situations (private and national), conditions, cultures, age, gender and with the charts of the most important persons in somebody's life, too. Mothers and children are close. It is Mothers Day today. How many mothers would laugh, when their child is down, I wonder? For those who can't help laughing when they see someone falling down (even if they love them) try this link. Wiki helps you not to laugh at inappropriate times:

Sun/Moon/Venus midpoint combinations

Sun/Moon is the midpoint of heart and soul, right in between Sun and Moon*). It is the midpoint of motives. What is motivating you can be seen by the aspects of Sun/Moon. If it is Mercury, being the messenger might be your motive, see: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2011/04/sunmoonmercury-midpoint-combinations.html
What if it is Venus?

Venus is the symbol of grace, beauty, charm, peace, sweetness, style and diplomacy. You can imagine what happens when Venus is in hard aspect with Sun/Moon. It is the combination of the art of living, the desire to live in peace and being charming in heart and soul (because you want to be loved and probably ARE). To a Sun/Moon/Venus-person love is very important. With such a combination you are likely someone who is esthetic and maybe even an artist. Venus is a nice, sweet planet. Here only mistake is vanity and wanting clean hands. Do I have examples? Yes!

Umberto Eco: Sun conjunct Moon/Venus
Monica Lewinsky: Sun conjunct Moon/Venus
Casanova: Venus semi square Sun/Moon
Jean-Claude van Damme: Venus semi square Sun/Moon
Princess Diana: Sun square Moon/Venus
Queen Fabiola of Belgium: Sun semi square Moon/Venus

*) For more about calculating and interpreting midpoints, use this link to Astromarkt, the site with background info for this blog. In short:
The Sun/Moon midpoint is the equavalent of (Sun + Moon)/2. Of course, to calculate this you need to use the degrees of the 360 degree circle. A Sun in the 10th degree of Taurus is at 40 degrees, a Moon in the 20th degree of Libra is in the 200th degree. The midpoint Sun/Moon of this example combination is at 120 degree (zero Leo). If Venus is in the 1st degree of Taurus there is Sun/Moon square Venus. (Don't use more than 2 degrees orb).

Of course there is more in your chart than just Sun/Moon. But it is an important midpoint, because if you do have an aspect with Sun/Moon you won't be motivated if that aspect is missing. A Sun/Moon/Venus person won't be motivated much in a dirty, untidy or ugly environment or if there is no harmony at all, for example. And perhaps you, with Sun/Moon/Venus, tend to take care that things look nice and people are polite and everybody's happy and comfortable...When you look for a job, consider that. Sun/Moon/Mercury wants to have contact, wants to talk and wants to tell people about 'it'. Sun/Moon/Venus wants to have fun or wants to see style, all depending on the situation, conditions, character, and the rest of the chart. It seems to be strange to see a man like Jean-Claude van Damme (karate movies) in the list, but his mother was a florist and he (says ADB) married 5 times. Venus (beauty and women, entertainment and being an artist) in hard aspect with Sun/Moon apparently highlights all that is in the astrological vocabulary on V of Venus. And he looks good, too!:) 'Muscles from Brussels' of course has Mars (planet of manhood and muscles) elevated...

Motivated for esthetics, luxury or entertainment (or love). The need to have fun and loving company...

All you need is Venus

To finish the month about relationships and love*), I want to point at Venus, now in the romantic sign of Pisces and right now in my Ascendant's degree. So I just have to mention her...
Venus is the remedy for all that doesn't fit, doesn't match and doesn't seem appropiate. Venus is the symbol of sympathy and love. A famous couple with a long lasting marriage and no matching signs at all is Meryl Streep & Don Gummer. Her Venus is exactly trine his Venus: love is all you need, so all you need is VENUS!

Venus is there when you meet a loved one. With someone's Venus on your Ascendant you just sense sympathy and love. And when someone's Venus is on your progressed Sun when you meet, that doesn't mean that you will stop loving this person (and vice versa) when the progressed Sun moves on to the next degrees. A very sweet dog of mine was born with her Venus on my progressed Sun and she choose me at first sight and didn't keep her eyes of me. And I really loved this dog and remember her with a smile. Of course, she was a dog and dogs don't live longer than about 10 years...:) So I don't know if love is everlasting when you meet a sweet husband with Venus on your Sun or Ascendant. Life is too complicated to guarantee that. But in the end, when it comes to realtionships, with animals, with partners, with people around you...Venus helps you to accept, agree with and comfort the one you love or like. And that is logic!:)

Transit Venus and Jupiter, a wedding and April Taurus

Recently I was called by a family member. He had proposed to his friend and he would inform me about the wedding date soon. I know that he has Ascendant opposition Venus in the progressed chart right now. After he told me about the wedding date I had a quick look at the prognosis for Taurus (he is a Taurus; I mean the astrological one:). You know that  Venus-Jupiter is the combination of two symbols of joy and fun? Together they are the recipe for a party. In the prognosis for sunsigns for 2011 I wrote a special message for the April Taurus: the best time  to plan a party was end of August (when Venus and Jupiter is on the side of the sunsign Taurus). That relative of mine is NO fan of astrology. He is a Taurus, born in April. He told me that he planned the wedding party ...on August 26. He did that without reading the horoscopes for 2011.

Apparently some people just do the right thing at the right moment:).

BTW I especially recommend August 30 for those born on April 30. Venus is trine Jupiter and transit Venus will be trine the natal Sun and transit Jupiter will be conjunct the Sun. One of them is the Swedish King (Carl Gustaf) who desperitely needs a party after transit Saturn square Sun (see the link).

Transits of Venus

Did this happen to you, too? Transit Venus was on your Midheven and exactly on that day something nice happened. I, for example, read that the view over the river would be permanent, because they would not build the house that would block the view, anymore. Hurray! The second time the garden was done and it was so cute! The third time I heard that I HAD that new job. So, in view of the fourth time, expectations were high and nothing happened. Don't ask me why not!@#!! Let us just remember that in about 75% of the transits of Venus with Midheaven, something enjoyable happens.

With Venus on the horizon (Ascendant-Descendant) something will chear you up or make you look better than ever. Because of that, everybody is nice! Venus is on the Ascendant when babies are born, weddings are being celebrated and partners are being introduced for the first time. For some reason, Venus is also there when people die (and rest in peace), as a sort of a mercy. In every such case: you will be treated gently. And the negative side of Venus is decadence (flattery and being lazy).

When Venus visits you, it is like if a nice and beautiful lady comes bye with presents and candy to make life look sweeter. If Jupiter joins her, you might expect even more (a party, for example). When times are hard, Venus is the smile, the comfort, the postcard and the compliment that helps you deal with life a little longer.

Transit Venus was on the progressed Descendant of Larry King on the day of his final show, adding some pleasure to the moment. Transit of Venus are like the sugar in the cup of tea...it is a small thing, but it makes it taste better.

When transit Venus is conjunct your natal Venus you are experiencing a 'Venus return'. The chart of that specific moment might tell you something about your desires and wishes in the coming period. I had my Venus return yesterday.

Progressed Mercury and Venus returns and changing sign

When the progressed sunsign changes, lifestyle changes. But what changes when the progressed planets change sign? I checked my own Mercury and Venus in progression and this is what I found:

MERCURY RETURN
In 1971 and 1995 I had a Progressed Mercury Return. In 1981 the progressed Mercury stopped retrograding and went direct, just before the square with Saturn. I recall that year and the decission that I didn't make. I remember 1995, because that is the year that I got a teacher's license. But I don't know about 1971.
I think that Progressed Mercury conjunct Mercury doubles your interests and study results. And I think that when Mercury returned to the natal position (in 1971) I started to make my mind up, again (new ideas, new interests, new opinions). In 1995 the period of studies ended and a new period began. I remember that I couldn't read books in 1995/1996, because I had read to many of them (and to quickly) in the years before.

VENUS RETURN
I know a person who experienced a Venus return in progress (progressed Venus conjunct natal Venus). That doubled his sympathies so much!:) He started to live with his mistress and didn't divorce. So this also doubled the number of wives!

CHANGING SING
Mercury and Venus also may change sign in the progressed chart. My Venus changed sign from Sagittarius to Pisces and if I live long enough I will see Progressed Venus on Zero Aries. But, in what way has it changed my style, preferences or hobbies?  Venus progressed to Pisces in the summer of 2001 and I don't remember what exactly changed. In 1976 Venus progressed to Aquarius and I don't know what happened. It was one of those years that pass bye...

In June 2010 my Mercury changed sign to Aquarius. In 2010 my website got a new style. I don't think that I had a mind changing experience in 2010, however.

SO...
So, maybe there were subtile changes, but I can't see in what way the changing sign of Mercury or Venus had impact on my life, my preferences or my mind. Since of few years Venus is in my first house. I will ask if people noticed this beneficial influence on my presentation!:) Seriously, I think that the change of sign of the progressed Mercury and Venus simply contribute to a general picture of change (if it is there) and not much more. But if you experienced major changes, please let me know!

This month January you find a lot about progressions and the progressed chart on Astropost.
