Color horoscope for Bill Cosby and Prince Philip

I like the color horoscope (free try out version of Astro.com) and I want to tell you about it. I added the picture of a kaleidoscope. Just like with computer horoscopes, you may wonder what the REAL picture is. Computer horoscopes are (sometimes free) compositions of signs, positions and aspects in a row. They seem to fit, but often fail when you do it for another person and another one. With so many possible notions the computer horoscope is often a 'one size fits all' and one size doesn't really fit, always. The color horoscope of Astro.com is one that I like. At least: I like the short free version (I haven't tried the complete one). It is because of the 'Roles you play' and 'Background' part. I'll show you why and I'll also show you why it doesn't fit all. Computer horoscopes sometimes help you to 'see the picture' and sometimes they just give a bunch of contradicting texts. This part, if you are ready to include the context (social circumstances, gender, genes, the whole picture), helps to see a character.

Today is Bill Cosby's birthday. Transit Uranus is square his Sun now that he is in the news in a negative way and Transit Uranus will be back in 2016. In his solar return chart, Sun square Uranus tells us about a hectic and nervous year. Here is the natal chart with transits and progressions for July 8.

I used 11:54 a.m. (Progressed Venus conjunct MC at marriage in 1964). That gives Ixion a special place. Ixion is also on the midpoint Venus/Pluto. Soon after 1964 the abuse began and progressed Sun was semi square Ixion. Right now, progressed Sun is almost exactly conjunct Saturn (a time to face the facts). I had to use A time because you can't try out the color horoscope without hour of birth. I didn't use the times mentioned on Astro. com, because they come from 1 source and don't give any appropriate data for 1964. So this is a guess chart. The color horoscope mention for 'Roles you play' and 'Background':
  • Desirous
  • Looking for support
  • Searching for pleasure
  • Interested
  • Lack of self-confidence
2x desire/pleasure, 2x seeking contact, 1x lack of self confidence. It sounds like a person who is eager for pleasure and good in communications, but who doesn't believe in the results and perhaps that is why he used drugs to 'conquer' the women he abused. But (#kaleidoscope) you can also get the picture of a very nice social person, like the father in the TV series.
They say that you can have it your way with any computer horoscope, but this one at least doesn't 'sound' like the chart of a violent or super cool and controlled person. I did my chart and those of others and yes: you see (part of a) character, but what you do with that character ... nobody knows. It depends on the rest of the chart and ... on the background. Bill Cosby couldn't do what he did if he wasn't famous, powerful and popular. We wouldn't even look at his chart:).

Now how about the chart of Prins Philip. If he wasn't the husband of the Queen of England,we wouldn't mind what he says or does, but we do.
PRINS PHILIP AND COLORHOROSCOPE
Prins Philip, we know, is rather rude. There is a whole list of unwanted and political incorrect public communication on the net. He always knows how to hurt someone. But when you use the color horoscope, you get 'sensitive' twice! That is because the computer horoscope didn't include the fact that both Mercury and Mars are Out of Bounds and that Mercury is angular. That is how the computer missed the sharp (Mars) tongue (Mercury)! The color horoscope also mentions 'Center of attention' and 'Manipulation' ...Anyway, try yours and see!
astro_2gw_2587_prince_consort_philip_adb.50933.12741
Why try it? Well, I like that color horoscope. It is fun. I realize that the try out version is not the complete version and that computer horoscopes (as 'they' are afraid of skipping something important) mention too much always and forget about the 'main picture). Still, there is something about it...And no, they don't pay me to tell you this.

Multiple murder in charts of Lubitz and Enwazi

Charts must be seen in the light of what we know about a person (gender, genes, social circumstances, culture and historical episode etc.). Then we look at the natal chart to see 'what it is in it'). The transits and progressions show us 'what happens'. The combination of all that is sometimes enough to create 'monsters'.

Here are two examples: the pilot who was responsible for the death of dozens of innocent people and the jihadi executioner. A quick glance shows that they share a Mars-Uranus-Pluto combination and Saturn-Uranus. The lenght of this post already tells you that it is not just one sign or aspect that explains their acts.

I hesitated about publishing the charts, because of the complexity and cruelty of the facts. It is the fact that astrology charts of these cases are just as complicated (and cruel) as the events, that made me decide that it is important to show the many facets that color the picture: in dark shades...

SUICIDAL PILOT
Here is the chart of Andreas Lubitz (18 December 1987 – 24 March 2015). Lubitz was born in Montaubar. He was 27 years old, unmarried and it rumors that he had problems with his pregnant fiancĂ©e. His mental and fysical condition actually disabled him to be a pilot, but it was his dream and- as all pilots- he had a considerable debt. Maybe all that was enough to want to die, but it doesn’t explain why he wanted innocent passengers and crew members to share the horror of his final flight. There are ideas about it, like medication and the sort of depression, but what does the chart say? I think that it was in that chart, if you include the fact that he wasn't mentally healthy and that he had a plane in control.

The natal chart shows a rather fanatical, ambitious, silent (if needed), not very reasonable dreamer with a health issue and the tendency to act in a radical way and/or shoot his own feet.
The transits and progressions draw a dark picture of the situation at the time of his death. Circumstances (t&p) activated existing issues and characteristics. As always, mit is a combinations of things.
But above all: if he hadn’t been a pilot, he couldn’t have done this.

I Natal chart
1.    Saturn rises before the Sun. That means that his official status was number 1 and so were his parents. This also gives a rather pessimistic view.

2.    Mercury conjunct Saturn: see Astromarkt (http://www.astromarkt.net/aspects-with-mercury.html ). I quote: ‘You just don’t tell it all…’

3.    Mars conjunct Pluto and novile Uranus is the combination of radical acts on impulse, sudden use or abuse of power

4.    Sun, Saturn and Uranus opposition Chiron shows the possible need to heal issues of breaking free and limited freedom

5.    Possible Moon NA (in the morning) could add ‘emotions at any kind of level’

6.    Calling Neptune (NA); see Astromarkt. I quote:’ dreams without limits ending in a world of dreams’

7.    Sun inconjunct Pholus for the risk to shoot your own feet at any point in life (self destruction?)

The ingredients for being silent (Mercury-Saturn) about a health issue (Sun-Chiron) and eventually losing grip on reality (Neptune) were there, and they were triggered.
When the planets involved in natal aspects are being brought together by means of a transit or progression, they ‘sound’ harder. I named that ‘resonance’.

Andreas Lubitz was a Sagittarius with Scorpio Moon. This combination contributes to a person’s confidence and minimizes objectivity (see: http://universal-tao-eproducts.com/mp/files/sun-moon_sagittarius-scorpio.pdf ). There are no placements in air signs in this chart. That is a sign of ‘not to be reasoned with’ (http://www.astromarkt.net/unaspected-planets-and-missing-elements.html )
Take that in mind, together with the 7 observatoins.

II Transits and progressions
Transits (exact, within 1 degree of orb) and progressions (ditto):

1.    Transit Saturnus sesquisquare Mars (dead end)
2.    Transit Saturn conjunct Progressed Mars (dead end)
3.    Transit Uranus inconjunct Mars (accelerated drive, resonates Mars novile Uranus in the natal chart)
4.    Transit Pluto sextile Mars (easy way out using force)
a.    Together Mars, Uranus and Pluto activate the Mars, Uranus and Pluto combination in the birth chart. It is the trio of radical act of importance

5.    Transit Pholus conjunct Sun indicates an important point of no return (turning point with a risk), resonating the Sun inconjunct Pholus natal aspect
6.    Progressed Sun was trine progressed Pholus, this enable a turning point that is important (because of the natal aspect)
7.    Progressed Sun near inconjunct Progressed Chiron, resonating Sun-Chiron opposition in the natal chart and symbol of the important need to be cured with a loss involved (mirrored by the inconjunction)
8.    Transit Neptune semi square Sun for confusion
9.    More subtile aspects like Progressed Sun semi sextile Saturn (end of a period) and
10. transit Uranus conjunct Eris (sudden discord)

Two times dead end, two times point of no return, confusion and need to be cured with end of period and sudden discord: there is nothing light or bright about the transits and progressions. It is all deep darkness.

Could we have foreseen that?
Even that wouldn’t have to lead to a crashing plane on a mountain top and the death of so many people, if Andreas Lubitz had been a healthy person. But he wasn’t. He had psychiatric problems 6 years ago, already. So we have to see this load of heavy transits and progressions as a load of problems for an already troubled person who was given a responsibility that he abused to be ‘known’ forever and ever because after all he was ambitious first of all (Saturn rising before the Sun).
If we knew his hour of birth, perhaps we could add even more indications in the birth chart and more transits and progressions.  Maybe these data give us more insight in the answer to the question why he wanted to kill so many people. Or maybe that is the byproduct of medication?

If he had to be seen by an astrologer before being allowed to fly, if the astrologer only used major aspects and the classical planets, he’d only see transit Saturn conjunct Progressed Mars (if he used progressions…).  But it is as with any major incident, a matter of 3 or more heavy indications in one direction that does it at a specific moment.

Here you see 10 major and minor indications. Four of them are with Chiron, Pholus and Eris. There are 5 minor aspects involved, including 2 inconjunctions. Together they give you a picture of a nasty period for a not so reasonable person who is first of all ambitious, who doesn’t tell it all, who lives in a world of dreams and who has some kind of illness and wants to break free. Once you know what comes next, you see it. Otherwise it is just a troubled dark colored shady picture, like that of the remains of the plane on the mountaintop. If we could only go back in time and stop this man…

LINKS

JIHADI JOHN
One of the most wanted persons today is Jihadi John, the British young man who slaughtered Islamic State victims in the name of his religion. He was born on August 17, 1988 in Kuwait (see link to Sky News), a rather ordinary day. This post is about the chart of his day of birth as a reminder of what I always say: charts mirror life, not vice versa. And: charts should be seen, related to genes, gender, culture, history, and circumstances.

CIRCUMSTANCES
Emotions like love and hate, being lonely or in danger cAn trigger the worst aspects of personalities, even when a person always looked so ordinary and 'normal'. Situations, like war, make any difficult aspect harder (see example).  I read an article in a newspaper about 'radicalizing' jihadists. The author said that (given the data) it seems sort of coincidental when and why persons radicalize. One of his examples 'did it' when he was sad after an ended romance...

Nobody can 'predict' wether a person will or will not become a jihadist. A chart also doesn't dictate anything. We can 'blame' certain aspects when we want to find an explanation for a person's life but let's keep in mind that there are also psychological defects that can make any chart tricky. Trines and sextiles are abundant in the charts of criminals, because they help you find the 'easy way out' and some find it easier to rob their neighbors than to work for their money. Jupiter's happy transits helped Marc Dutroux and Michelle Martin several times. There seems to be no justice 'above'.

If the chart showed us 'fate' and 'predicted' radicalizing or becoming an executioner, more persons born on that day would have walked the same road. On Wikipedia I found 4 names of people born that day:

    – Aidan Coleman, Irish jockey
    – Bianca Collins, American actress
    – Brady Corbet, American actor
    – Erika Toda, Japanese actress

They all have the same proud Sun in Leo, the stylish and polite Moon in Libra, the same will to break free (Sun trine (Saturn conjunct Uranus)) and the same romantic drive (Venus opposition Neptune and square Mars). They all have Mercury sextile Venus and trine Neptune and Pluto for mystic ideas (about love, too).  Venus and Jupiter rise before their sun and that is a good and social sign.
And they don't use violence, as far as I know.

So I can’t blame the chart of the day of birth even if they all have Mars inconjunct Pluto:).  How do they deal with Mars inconjunct Pluto? I don't know. Maybe they are extremely angry sometimes, more than average, but I can'd be sure. I only know that Jihadi John has a problem with anger and violence and that Mars inconjunct Pluto mirrors this.

Jihadi John had choices to make out of the potentials in his chart, but certain circumstances and ideas may have guided him to the road of destruction and this was related to his religious background, his age/gender and the existence of IS. Because…well, here is the chart:

SUCH AN ORDINARY CHART
I read about him that the most amazing thing about his life story is, that he is such an ordinary boy. People of the past are shocked that he is now a merciless sadist. As a kid he was such a nice boy, they say, but at a particular moment in time (about 5 years ago) someone persuaded him to become a jihadist and he went to the Middle East to start killing. Well, everybody knows the story and if not, you can find lots of info on the Internet.

At first sight the chart of the day is such an ordinary chart, too. Not per se the chart of a brutal killer. It is like in the chart of OJ Simpson, the smiling movie star who used to hit his wife and ended in jail not for killing her and her lover, but for violently robbing a store later. At first sight he was so kind and so was his chart, but...there WAS a potential for the nasty side. See the article about 'the chart behind the chart' here... Minor aspects CAN have major impact.

HIDDEN POTENTIAL
Even the chart of very ordinary day may have a hidden dangerous potential. So had August 17, 1988.
This not so obvious potential can be mirrored by minor aspects and prominent midpoint combinations. In the chart of Jihadi John it is a minor aspect combination that can be destructive in the hands of someone who is not sane or under the influence of drugs and (in this case) in a war zone. As I said before, circumstances trigger certain aspects. When you are in love or celebrating your marriage or playing with your dog, you are in a better mood than among fanatics in a war zone.

The combination that I want to show is: Pluto semi square Saturn and inconjunct Mars (the combination of untimely death). This combinations is connected to the Sun by means of a sesquisquare. It is a tight combination. This bitter and hard potential didn’t ever have to be used like he uses it now. (OK: Maybe it comes forward because of angular placement of Mars, Saturn or pluto in the natal chart, but that remains the question.)

The signal of deathly danger (Mars-Saturn-Pluto) is also a warning signal for himself. It seems that there is a hunt for Jihad John and it depends on who catches him first, how his life will end. When Saturn will be in the 10th degree of Sagittarius, next year, he might have to look over his shoulder more frequently. And as his hour of birth is missing, there may be other moments sooner.

THE NOT SO ORDINARY PERSON
I use to read charts from the point of view that the person involved is a normal person, who wants to live a good life and be happy. But what if a person is not normal and who’s idea of ‘feel good’ is to kill, murder and rape? In that case charts and aspects may contribute to the vile acts. Only when a person is psychologically ill or in extreme situations, it is time for the worst meanings of aspects.

Saturn-Uranus
There is Saturn conjunct Uranus, both trine the Sun. Those are major aspects. It is the aspect combination of breaking free and/or limited freedom (see links)
The trine made it easy to leave the country and his family and join rebels abroad.  In a few years time the progressed Sun will hit this conjunction with a very hard square. Maybe that square ends his freedom?

Mercury-Neptune-Pluto
Also there is a strong connection between Mercury, Neptune and Pluto by means of aspects and midpoint combinations. This combination of the ‘silent force’ and spirituality linked to the planet of communications, ideas and schooling might be the key to vulnerability for fanatic ideological ideas under certain conditions.

Sun-Mars-Uranus
The (aspect or midpoint) combination of the short fuse and eagerness for immediate change is frequent in the charts of terrorist as you can see in the article on Astromarkt. His Sun is sesquisquare Mars and trine Uranus.
See:
http://www.astromarkt.net/mars-in-aspect-with-uranus.html

Mars is inconjunct Pluto. That is also so in the chars of Hugh Hefner, Catherine the Great (both have/had an excessive number of sex partners; she had her husband murdered),  Tina Turner (had a violent relationship), Hannie Schaft (WW2 resistance, shot) and Luis Suarez (the famous biting football player). This aspect mirrors the issue of the use and abuse of power, sex and violence, with lack of balance and loss involved. Even this difficult aspect is rather neutral and how it works depends on position, gender, profession and situation. It doesn’t demand anyone to use force or to get into a situation where you have to defend yourself at any cost. But in a worse case scenario this aspects means excessive abuse of violence and the danger of injuries.

As Mars is also square Neptune, this might be stimulated by the use and abuse of alcohol or drugs or his acts are driven by ideals/ideology.

And have you noticed the narrow quintile Sun-Pholus for creating a point of no return with a risk to shoot his own feet?

Again, this is a look at the astrological position on the day of birth of Mohammed Emwasi (and others). Everyone born on that day has the same aspects. The place and hour of their birth creates differences between them, but the major aspects are alike. So:
Charts don’t show a fate, charts show potential choices to make and the most likely way of life in certain circumstances.
And sometimes charts show us the hidden nasty aspects that come out only in hell and only when someone freely chooses to act as one of the devil’s helpers.

MOON, ASCENDANT, MC, SUN/MOON
If we knew at what time he was born, we could see the aspects of the Moon, the Ascendant, the MC and the position of Sun/Moon midpoint. That would allow us to see the whole astrological picture and the key positions at the angles of the chart. Maybe that explains, or a bit...

BUT...
I guessed that there is something wrong with the psyche of this man (from birth or after using drugs). Or better: I hoped so. The consequence of the idea that it only took words and a certain belief/ideology to make Mohammed Emwasi 'Jihadi John' (digging up the darkest aspects of his personality), is too scary.

And to my relief I read that the executioner's past is less innocent than we were supposed to believe and that his family isn't 'well to do' but living in a mansion payed for by British welfare. In England they feel that poor people ought to have the right to live as if they were not, so that they get payed to live in mansions. The government (and tax papers) contributed many pounds to the way of life and study of the family and in fact: they still do. The father lives abroad.

Here again, the minor aspects make the chart. We all first heard the story of the common student who suddenly became a murderer and now we know that it was a process and that he wasn't so 'common' after all. The difficult Mars inconjunct Pluto pops up one day.

Aquarius astrologer Carroll Righter

On Astropost you find charts of astrologers for almost every sun sign. They tell us about the indications for interest in astrology (or better: for a helicopter view) and they tell us in what way the sun sign of the astrologer is in line with the way that he or she practiced it. Carroll Righter's sun sign was Aquarius. He was an astrologer in the days that astrology was booming and 'The age of Aquarius' was a hit.

What he did was not new. Astrologers have been advising politicians and kings for ages and in some nations, they still do. It is an enormous responsibility and it requires some notion of politics and strategy. I remember a sad case of some years ago of an astrologer /clairvoyabt whose advices left him so poor that one of his famous clients bought him a carpet because he couldn't afford one. Some astrologers give million dollar advices for 100 box! So,  amazing how wealthy Carroll Righter was! (Maybe his Venus ruler 2 in 12 square Pluto ruler 8 helped him? Or maybe American celebs are more generous:).

THE ASTROLOGER'S PATTERN
Astrologers usually have a Jupiter-Uranus 'connection', consisting of a narrow aspect between Jupiter and Uranus, the Sun or Mercury in aspect with both Jupiter or Uranus. a Jupiter/Uranus midpoint combination with Sun, Mercury or Midheaven and/or an Aquarius Sun in aspect with Jupiter (or a Sagittarius Sun in aspect with Uranus). Mostly they have more of these connections, completed with a prominent Pallas (for patterns) and either Jupiter or Uranus in a prominent position. Let's see if Carroll Righter, who was a famous and successful astrologer, had this, too. Here is the chart:
Click and open in new window for a larger picture
There are 4 Jupiter-Uranus combinations.
1. Jupiter is conjunct Uranus
2. Jupiter and Uranus are sextile Mercury
3. Sun in Aquarius -ruled by Uranus- is sextile Uranus in Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter) AND
4. Sun in Aquarius is in a 67.5 degree minor aspect*) with the ruler of the 10th house, Jupiter.
That is more that the rule of 3!

Neptune on IC and the 12th house Pisces Moon square Neptune/Pluto for a famous astrologer? Famous astrological advisors work behind the scenes..,So the combination is a perfect symbol for someone who discretely communicates with celebrities in the paranormal field. See how that Moon in Pisces 12 square Neptune/Pluto is reflecting the 'secret force' and paranormal sensitivity that a lot of people are afraid of? Did he really advice the Reagans?*) Or was it Joan Quigley? Or did they both?

Neptune on IC is a Neptune opposite Midheaven. This position symbolizes a career related to beliefs, ideals/ideology, media and/or mediums or... the movies! Neptune is the symbol of television and all that can't be smelled, seen or touched. It is the symbol of fantasies and what is fake.
His career started when he moved to Hollywood, a very Neptunic place...

Neptune rules his first house (Ascendant Pisces) and is calling (no aspects in orb 5 degrees), just like Saturn is. Midpoint Saturn/Neptune is connected to Midheaven and Sun by means of hard minor aspects. Saturn/Neptune is the midpoint of involuntary detachment  So I found it interesting to read that he hardly ever left his spacious house in the late sixties**). That is also in line with the 12th House Moon and Pisces Ascendant. It takes some study and being alone to study charts:).

Anyway, Carroll Righter had the Jupiter-Uranus 'helicopter view' connection and Pallas in 10 for using patterns as tools to be an astrologer. He had a lot of influence and probably loved the idea (Sun trine Pluto). He made astrology popular, too. With Mars in Aquarius in the 11th house, rising before the Sun and sextile Jupiter, he also had the energy to promote astrology.  This combination mirrors a drive to convince others (just like we see in the charts of the preachers in this post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2010/12/preachers-charts.html).
There is also an important Saturn (no aspects in sign within orb 5 degrees) for an important amount of ambition.

THE GOOD MOMENTS
But it also takes good opportunities and starry moments. Righter had his one with Transit Jupiter trine his natal Sun, when Marlene Dietrich became his devoted client after having ignored his warning for an accident (and breaking her ankle).

A long long time ago, in the year that I was born, Carroll Righter became a columnist. That was with progressed Midheaven and transit Jupiter conjunct his natal Sun AND Progressed Ascendant opposite Jupiter, all that, for a golden opportunity.

NOTES
***67.5 is a minor aspect, a semi sesquisquare

What astrology needs is...

Now that we know the wrong ideas about astrology, let's see what astrology needs. You already know that astrology is the study of the correspondence between an image of the sky above and what happens below. Astrology is more than that and more complicated than that, of course. To work with astrology, an astrologer needs:

1. ABILITY TO ASSOCIATE (because ASTROLOGY USES LANGUAGE)

The interpretation of the symbols in the drawing that we make of earth and heaven of that moment of birth (or the event) is an art. So is communicating about it. You have to consider so many factors that using words with multiple possible specific meaning (like for example amorphous or esthetic or expanding) is required for mass communication. In a personal meeting and interacting there can be a more personal approach and the symbols can be related to the individual's situation (using words like dreams, love of art or successes). This, however, requires a thorough study of the chart and a keen knowledge of astrology's vocabulary. And the ability to associate (to link one thing to another like meanings to symbols)

2. AN OPEN MIND

You can't study astrology without an open mind. You need to have that 'helicopter view' and you need to be able to associate words and symbols.

It takes more than knowing 'what sign' you are to call yourself a student in astrology. There are numerous ways to study astrology and numerous ways to interpret charts. But there are common grounds in astrology.

3. COMMON GROUNDS
In Western tropical astrology the chart represents earth, surrounded by the heavens, with a special spot in the middle. That is where you stand or where the event happened. From that point of view the chosen symbols in the chart, interpreted with an eye for gender, genes, status, situation, age and other factors of influence, mirror a reality (note: it is not vice versa). Astrologers all over the world see the Sun as the symbol of vitality, life and heart. They agreed that Saturn is related to time, age, parenthood and ambition. They all consider Venus to be the planet of beauty, design and love. The symbols of astrology are flexible and have a different meaning in different times, social areas and cultures. Astrologers all over the world can see the different effect of a transit Saturn square Sun in times of war, for a poor person and for managers. They translate the symbols, taking that in mind.

Also, astrologers use to disagree over a lot of things, too. Astrologers are almost human:).

4. SPIRITUALITY
Astrology, that ancient tool to understand men, history and events will never die completely. That is because astrology is natural and related to nature itself. Astrology is the bridge between us and the world out there, the seasons, the tides and history. Astrology helps us get a spiritual view on what happens.

By studying astrology we open a window to better understand others, combining the chart's symbols with reality. In a way, astrology shows how important it is to take care of ourselves and others. The fact that circumstances and situations dominate when it comes to explaining the symbols (or translating them), shows us that it is worthwhile to keep trying to make the world a better place. The symbols of astrology are flexible and have a different meaning in different times, social areas and cultures. Astrologers all over the world can see the different effect of a transit Saturn square Sun in times of war, for a poor person and for managers. They translate the symbols, taking that in mind.

5. A FREE WORLD
Astrology needs peace and freedom. We couldn't be astrologers if there was no peace, if there were no books and no choices to make. Astrology is a study for a free and healthy society. The fact that astrology exists in a society is the proof of the pudding. Where astrology is forbidden, the authority is strict. Where astrology rules, there is no certainty at all. It is better for astrology to be in the middle, where freedom of speech and freedom of mind allows astrology to be.

It works both ways. Astrology in itself doesn't attack the free world, nor is it a threat. It takes a free mind to study astrology. There is co-existence, for ages. The fact is, that I can see where my visitors come from and most of them come from the free world.

Even though some elements in society don't approve of astrology and would love to ban this study, the fact is that astrology survived thousands of years, without pressure, killing, war or prosecution. Astrology is vivid, because astrology is about us, you, the world you live in and the changing times. Astrology is flexible enough to live long ever after, though maybe not always happy. But that is human and natural, too.

SO...
What I mean is, that in a free world astrology may be taken seriously or not, but whatever happens: serious astrology will remain a spiritual and nature based study of mankind, from a different kind of view.
I value and appreciate astrology for decades. Wrong ideas about astrology won't be able to erase my findings. Astrology may not be a religion, but I believe in the value of the study of astrology. That doesn't mean that I accept every idea without testing it. Here on Astropost.blogspot.com I present my findings, using those concepts that I have watched, studied and tested, using real life facts and data. There is still a lot to be studied. I could go on for years and ages. And I hope that I can...

Strange ideas about astrology

What astrology is not...

Guercino: Personification of astrology (ca. 1650)
There are lots of misconceptions about astrology.  Those ideas stand in the way of seeing astrology as it is: the spiritual study of the correspondence between the astrological (!) picture of symbols in the sky and earth's (nature's) reality (!weighing the influence of circumstances, genes, gender, culture and age).
And no, astrology is not about a parrot picking a lucky card...and astrologers don't worship the Sun, moon or any of the planets or stars. In fact, there are astrologers all over the world and divided over all kinds of religions and convictions.

What more strange ideas are there? There is the idea that astrology is a sort of a religious belief and astrologers are leading followers of that belief,  in every single act and move. There is the idea that astrology is about 12 signs, dividing mankind in 12 kind of persons and that that astrologers don't know that those signs are not the constellations. There is the idea that astrology has been scientifically tested and that science proved astrology wrong. All that is not true. Those are the ideas of people who don't take astrology as seriously as I do:).
In some countries being an astrologer is dangerous as astrology is forbidden for religious or ideological reasons!

I started this post with a long, long defense of astrology.  I reread it and I thought: why should I mind? Whatever I say, it won't convince anti-astrology adepts at all, just as they won't ever be able to convince me. That is because I can see, hear, read, think and do my own research. Or maybe it is because I am as they are, so that I can only see the proofs of my own premise, just like they do. Whatever. I don't care. I offer some links here, for you, to make up your own mind.
I just don't want you to get any wrong ideas about astrology and astrologers. Think for yourself! And study astrology. It is an amazing eye opener in many ways.

The Leo Astrologer: Alan Leo and A.T. Mann

Every month I write about an astrologer's chart. Now it is time for the chart of a Leo astrologer and for an answer to the questions: Where is the astrologer in the chart?
One of the books of A.T.Mann
Alan Leo is a Leo astrologer who 'gave us' sun sign astrology. I wrote about him before , related to the sun sign hoax of 2011.
A.T. (Tad) Mann is a contemporary astrologer born with Sun in Leo. He published his chart for August 18, 1943 at 15:03 EWT Auburn NY USA. (Astrodienst uses 15:05) Here it is. It is an astrologer's chart:).

JUPITER-URANUS
Jupiter-Uranus combinations are frequent and often important in the charts of astrologers, astronauts and some modern popes. Astrologer Mann has a prominent Jupiter-Uranus, too.

Jupiter+Uranus=helicopter view (see the article on Astromarkt).
This chart has Jupiter sextile Uranus and the midpoint Jupiter/Uranus is semi square natal Sun. Jupiter rises before the Sun (the international, the guide). Uranus is angular, on the Descendant. That means that Jupiter and Uranus are important.
There is even more Jupiter-Uranus: Venus is novile Jupiter and bi septile Uranus.

PALLAS for patterns
I like to point at Sun trine Pallas (inconjunct Midheaven). Pallas is square MC in the chart of Tycho Brahe (that you see here http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/12/astrology-chart-tycho-brahe-ceres-and.html ). Patterns (related patterns) are important in astrology.

VENUS for style
Tad Mann is also an architect and designer. Venus (style) is conjunct Midheaven and quindecile Moon (in a wider opposition with Neptune). That is the pattern of artistic talents that we see more on Art&Astrology.

In what way does a Leo help astrology? I think that one of the way that Tad Mann helps, is by visualizing the solar system patterns, like here http://atmann.net/artdesign.htm#sss
linking them to the concept 'so above, so below'...

Three steps to analyze natal charts

Using a certain self developed method helps you to analyze natal charts. I think that my method quickly shows the most important qualities of a chart. This blog is about that method. I also published it on Astromarkt.

Almost 4 years ago I published about the method in "4 steps to read a chart" and I used the chart of Sir Winston Churchill as an example. In the following years I learned, and now I use 3 (giant) step: Astro ID, character and 'special patterns'. Sometimes the first giant step is enough. Let me show you what I mean. You'll see that you get a clear picture of that difference, almost immediately.

STEP 1
What does the chart show us? The Astro ID…
The ID of a person describes special marks. The Astro ID is about special marks of the chart. The special position is for:
- the planet without major aspects like conjunct, sextile, trine, square and opposition within 5 degrees of orb or within sign. That planet is 'calling!' (drawing our attention and working at any possible level). The 'calling' planet is the most important prominent planet.
- angularity: the planet in a sharp and narrow angel with the Ascendant-Descendant line (conjunct, opposition or square) and the planet on Midheaven. Those are the cornerstones of the chart.
- the planet of orientation: the first (outer) planet rising before the Sun (that is the planet that you see first when you move your finger from the Sun clockwise). Skip Venus and Mercury (unless they are important because of another indication here).

There is at least one important position in your chart! If you have more than 3, it will be more difficult to focus.

HITLER: Sun and Uranus are calling, Mercury is angular = crucially rising before the Sun...That tells us that we deal with a : controversial - URANUS - communicator - MERCURY - and leader - SUN -. or someone with controversial opnions that are being noticed.  Jupiter rises before the Sun. He is a controversial leader with an international orientation and oratory skills.

CARTLAND: The Astro ID shows a lot of prominent planets here, too. Venus, Jupiter and Mercury are calling! and Neptune is rising before the Sun. She has Moon, Jupiter and Saturn angular.

(You immediately see the Moon-Venus-Neptune prominence and realize that there could be some sort of artistic talent in the air, but maybe not art because there is no connection between Venus, Moon and Neptune).
Most important is Mercury-Venus-Jupiter combination 'calling', of course. It is a statement for successful and talented writing/talking, sweet stories etcetera, or for example for a popular (Venus-Jupiter) author (Mercury).
The difference between Hitler's chart and that of Barbara Cartland is obvious. The first chart shows a will to be special, a leader, someone who changes the world at any possible level. The second wants to talk or write nicely and kindly. That difference added with the circumstances (he a man, she a woman, he poor, she rich) makes a lot of difference.

!Not so well known people have important placements, too. They use them at any kind of level. The fact that their are a number of important placements doesn't always mean that the owner of that chart is a VIP. It is more that your see the main issues and the most important qualities!

Sometimes one step is enough, like with the charts of Adolf Hitler and Barbara Cartland. The first one brought  us destruction and war, the other one romance... You could stop here (and come back tomorrow) because you just found the essential information in the chart. The Astro ID gave you just as much information as their official pictures do!:)

Continue for the second and third step on Astromarkt: http://www.astromarkt.net/chart-analysis.html

Margareth Hone, a Libra astrologer

Margareth Hone was a well known British astrologer and a Libra, born on October 2, 1892. She was known as Peg Hone in the 50's of the 20th Century.
Margareth Hone helped founding The Faculty of Astrological Studies in 1948. She worked with the important British astrologers of her days. What Libra can do for astrology, is finding allies and seeking balance working together and finding diplomatic ways to communicate the meaning of the chart.
She helped to found the UK Astrological Association. She wrote "The Modern Text Book of Astrology".

This is her chart. The transits and progressions are for the day of her death (see Progressed Sun inconjunct Progressed MC and transit Neptune - ruler 8th house of life and death - square Ascendant).

JUPITER URANUS
Most astrologers have a Jupiter-Uranus connection in their charts. It is different and not so obvious in the chart of Margareth Hone. Venus is in aspect with both Jupiter (trine) and Uranus (quintile). The Aquarian Moon (ruled by Uranus) is in minor aspect with Jupiter (67.5 degrees, a half sesquisquare).

Her prominent placements included the Mercury-Saturn conjunction rising before the Sun and the Venus-Chiron conjunction with the Ascendant. I'd say that this Mercury-Saturn points at the importance of science (and ambition to write or give instructions). There is a big trine between Sun, Moon and Neptune-Pluto in the 10th house. Neptune and Pluto are the planets of mystery and the ' supernatural' or say: spiritual. Maybe she was highly sensitive? (Was she involved in theosophy, like Carter?)
The elevated Vesta tells us about dedication, above all.

CARTER
Charles E.O. Carter appreciated her work. This famous astrologer knew Margareth Hone. Astrology (IMO) is symbolized by Jupiter-Uranus. The Jupiter-Uranus connection can be found in the synastry of the charts of Margareth Hone and Charles E.O. Carter.

  •  Her Jupiter is trine his Midheaven (in aspect with his Jupiter/Uranus midpoint).
  • His Uranus is trine her Moon.
As you may notice, Jupiter and Uranus are prominent in the chart of Carter. Jupiter rises before the Sun and Uranus is conjunct Ascendant. Jupiter is half semi square Uranus. Maybe that prominence tells us how important astrology was for Carter. This is his chart

The picture above is Jacob Jordaens idea of Libra (17th Century), found on Wikipedia.

Individual charts, groups and fate

A year and one month ago there were explosions in Oslo and a killer with an automatic gun shot and killed dozens on an island nearby. What did the charts of the people involved have to do with it? In this blog I want to share my thoughts about the role of the individual chart in times of group disaster (or glory). And I show you a strange interaction between the charts of the killer and the victims (even though he didn't even know them personally).

CHARTS HELP?
When disasters kill and injure many persons at the same time and place, astrologers are asked about the value of a chart. Some astrologers seek the tragic group destiny in the individual's chart. Others have difficult  theories about groups of persons brought together to pay for an invisible  guilt or fault in their past lives (I consider that an awful and unproven accusation, blaming victims). Fact is, that in a mass event there can't be a joint transit or progression. That is because it doesn't matter who you are.I think that charts of individuals are as helpful as characters would be in the given situation. Charts of individuals are sometimes insignificant. Charts of individuals only matter if there is a choice and a chance.

When you had no chance at all, like on that Norwegian island in a group assembled on the main square, or in an earthquake or tsunami, it doesn't help if you had a nice chart or only difficult aspects. That is because it doesn't matter if you are polite, or ambitious, or a dreamer or a fighter. Individuals are subject to the charts of their leaders (especially in a hierarchic situation or strict authority). Individuals are subject to the chart of their nation or specific place (when it is about war or natural disasters). Just as we all depend on the earth, the safety of the place where we live and (as a kid) of our parents.
In given circumstances, in a group, when there is a chance and a choice to make, there is a chance for the person's chart. Else, it is 'des astres'...There is no individual 'crime and punishment' or 'what comes around goes around' when it is about group events or the disasters in Japan or Somalia.

NUANCES
When there is a chance for self rescue or when you are in the circumstances that enable you to survive, you will. The contrary is also true: the chart can be in your disadvantage. In times of war or disaster difficult transits and progressions make it harder to survive. Do you know 'I shouldn't be alive'? It is about people who almost died, but survived, often because of a strong will. In certain conditions, it is over when you give up. But there are, unfortunately, also situations that offer no chance at all.

Just consider this....Transits, progressions and natal charts of individuals in times of war and danger might make a difference, at least for a while, and perhaps that is enough sometimes. But if you are a baby born in Somalia today the smallest nasty transit or progression might be enough to kill you. Those born with the same aspects but in wealth might only catch a cold. Circumstances, situations, genes, gender...they matter. When they are stronger than the will and character of one person, what can he/she do?

NORWAY
Nevertheless I started to study the data of the victims in Norway.  Then I found a strange correspondence between the chart of the anonymous victim and the chart of a killer, like in the case of the Oslo bombings and the later shooting. I have no idea why or what it means. I just noticed it.

The names and birth data of 4 of the Norwegian victims have been published in July. Three of the victims died in Oslo because of the explosions. One, the youngest, was killed on the island. They didn't know the murderer (Anders Breivik). They couldn't expect this to happen and they did nothing wrong to cause it. Their charts didn't help them. And even though the three victims in Oslo didn't know the person who was responsible for their violent death, and the fourth only saw him shooting, there is a connection between their charts and the chart of Breivik and it is in the movable signs. Breivik's progressed Mars was square transit Pholus (a turning point in aggressoin/a battle) in the degrees between 14 and 15 of the movable signs. His natal Pholus was in the 22nd degree of movable signs. His Neptune was in the 20st of movable signs. The Venus of the three victims in Oslo was:
- in the 20th of Virgo (square the Neptune of Breivik),
- zero Taurus (semi square the Mars of Breivik and square transit Pholus),
- 21.2 Virgo (square transit Mars and opposition the Pholus of Breivik).
- The youngest victim, killed on the island, had Venus in the 14th of Gemini (opposition transit Pholus and square the Mars of Breivik).

I don't know why it is Venus. I know that transit Pholus square the progressed Mars of Breivik is reflecting the shooting and the violence. Mars-Pholus is in aspect with the Venus of three of the victims. One of them had a Venus-Neptune synastry with Breivik and no Mars-Pholus link, but of course: the Ascendant or MC could be involved. It could just be coincidence and perhaps there is more. I stop here.
The data: 31 July 1954, 21 March 1950, 31 July 1978 and 7 July 1988.

CONCLUSION
My conclusion is that:
. the charts of people in group disasters are subject to the circumstances (disaster comes from 'des astres' = from the stars and that is outside our competence and reach)
. if characters don't matter, charts don't either
. the charts of victims only help when there is a chance and a choice
. charts of victims can work against the chances of survival in times of war and disaster
. there might be a connection between the chart of the anonymous victim and a group killer's chart, even if they didn't know each other.
But it doesn't help anyone survive if they know this (just like it doesn't help them to find the reason afterwards)...so any study would just be 'for the records'. To me it is a confirmation of what I think: that you can't read charts without knowing the personal, environmental, social and political situation and circumstances. They matter. And ofen, they matter more. Like in a group disaster.

LINKS
Here is an example of a personal chart that helped to survive. Climbers were in trouble and the climber who was rescued and survived happened to have transits of Jupiter on that day: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2008/08/k2-climber-wilco-van-rooijen-rescued.html

An individual football player can score and have a good day when his team loses the game, can he? And the team can have a great day and win, while the individual couldn't catch the ball (and the coach noted it). But in the end, the individual's position will be subject to the position of the team, unless he leaves the team. That is what makes it hard to predict the results of a match (though I tried, see the label 'football' and ' EC').
