Marathon, the Sphinx, Jupiter and fixed signs

November 4, 2007
MARTIN LEL WINS NY MARATHON

This is what I wrote in 2007:

With 60% of the positions in the fixed signs on his birthday (29th October 1978 in Kapsaber, Kenya) Martin Lel is born to be persistent. That seems a good sign for a marathon man.

Today he won the New York Marathon with transit Jupiter semi square to the Sun.
When you are a runner and transit Jupiter is in aspect with your Sun, you might win...That is because Jupiter means help, success, satisfaction and progress.

FIXED SIGNS
When you are a marathon man, you'd better have indications for persistence in your chart. Placements in the fixed signs are such indications. Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. They go on and on.

The famous Sphinx has a human head (Aquarius) and we see the lion (Leo), eagle (Scorpio) and ox (Taurus) in the sculpture.

Just a short post to point at the positions of Sun, Moon and Progressed Moon in the chart of Mubarak (still the President of Egypt, born May 4, 1928) and the eternal sphinx, the combination of all four fixed signs in astrology (see this link to Astrology weekly, about it)...Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. They share a strong will and persistence. President Mubarak has the Sun in the astrological tropical sign Taurus, Moon in Scorpio and at present the Progressed Moon in Scorpio and we can't accuse him of giving up immediately, can we?

In 2008 I wrote about Hillary Clinton and not giving up. Why not? Of course: her fixed signs!
Quote:

Hillary Clinton won in West Virginia and she won't give up. This determination is not surprising. She has 60% of her placements in fixed signs (in her case in Scorpio or Leo). Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Pluto are in fixed signs. And now that we are looking at qualities and elements: she does not have any placement in an earth sign! It points at the need to gather material things, security, certainty. For more info...

The Leo Astrologer: Alan Leo and A.T. Mann

Every month I write about an astrologer's chart. Now it is time for the chart of a Leo astrologer and for an answer to the questions: Where is the astrologer in the chart?
One of the books of A.T.Mann
Alan Leo is a Leo astrologer who 'gave us' sun sign astrology. I wrote about him before , related to the sun sign hoax of 2011.
A.T. (Tad) Mann is a contemporary astrologer born with Sun in Leo. He published his chart for August 18, 1943 at 15:03 EWT Auburn NY USA. (Astrodienst uses 15:05) Here it is. It is an astrologer's chart:).

JUPITER-URANUS
Jupiter-Uranus combinations are frequent and often important in the charts of astrologers, astronauts and some modern popes. Astrologer Mann has a prominent Jupiter-Uranus, too.

Jupiter+Uranus=helicopter view (see the article on Astromarkt).
This chart has Jupiter sextile Uranus and the midpoint Jupiter/Uranus is semi square natal Sun. Jupiter rises before the Sun (the international, the guide). Uranus is angular, on the Descendant. That means that Jupiter and Uranus are important.
There is even more Jupiter-Uranus: Venus is novile Jupiter and bi septile Uranus.

PALLAS for patterns
I like to point at Sun trine Pallas (inconjunct Midheaven). Pallas is square MC in the chart of Tycho Brahe (that you see here http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/12/astrology-chart-tycho-brahe-ceres-and.html ). Patterns (related patterns) are important in astrology.

VENUS for style
Tad Mann is also an architect and designer. Venus (style) is conjunct Midheaven and quindecile Moon (in a wider opposition with Neptune). That is the pattern of artistic talents that we see more on Art&Astrology.

In what way does a Leo help astrology? I think that one of the way that Tad Mann helps, is by visualizing the solar system patterns, like here http://atmann.net/artdesign.htm#sss
linking them to the concept 'so above, so below'...

The bright side of the chart of the royal baby born July 22, 2013

On the chart of Prince George....
The youngest British royal was born in July 22, 2013 at 16:24 BST in London. It is a birth a few hours before the full moon in Aquarius and still with the Sun and Moon in Cancer. It sounds like a moment waiting for the increasing manifestation of starlight. The parents waited a few hours to tell the world about the birth of their first born. It seems to be British tradition to wait with announcements until the Queen and PM have been informed. Also, William and Kate wanted to tell the family first, personally. Surprisingly, when the announcement was made, the Sun and Moon had entered the next sign, Leo and it was full moon. Spotlights on!

I use not to analyze charts of very young children. They are just starting, everybody is happy and it is better to keep it that way  for a long long while. So let me focus (for almost 100%) on the bright sides of the chart, please. It is not difficult. It is the chart of a good looking, charming, energetic boy.

GOOD LOOKS AND BELOVED
Watch Venus and Uranus in hard aspect with the Ascendant and you will understand that he will likely be attractive not just because of his position, but also because of his looks. Venus is in Virgo (a 'cool' sign for a man). With Moon inconjunct Venus, both in aspect with the Ascendant, there may be a lack of balance in the relationship with females, too. Moon and Venus are in hard aspect with Neptune (Moon is semi square and Venus is opposition Neptune). This sensitivity and desire is good for the development of artistic talents. But it is also an indication for the issue of love affairs.

Venus had an important position in the sky at the moment of birth, elevated and conjunct Regulus. Heinrich Himmler had Venus conjunct Regulus and this didn't make him a nice guy (see Astrodatabank: http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Himmler,_Heinrich ). Constellation of Words quotes Robson about violent attachments and nasty love affairs.
He'll have a number of years to learn how to deal with that!:)

ENERGETIC
No matter at what hour: Mars rises before the Sun and is conjunct Jupiter. Great achievement, success and/or a lot of energy is to be expected. It will be first of all an active child. Maybe he will follow his father's footsteps and have a job in the army, later.

WATER SIGN TRIPOD
There is a lot of water in this chart, in particular because of placements in Cancer. Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune and Saturn are in water signs. There is a rare grand trine of Mars, Jupiter, Neptune and Saturn and there is a tripod pattern in the chart.

Water is the element of 'going with the flow' and at the same time: of traditions. It is easy with such a lot of positions in water signs to sense what the people wants and what is current or not. The grand trine makes it easy to choose the easy way out in times of trouble.

CHARACTER
The combination of Sun in Cancer and Moon in Capricorn, reflecting the sun signs of his father and mother, is a combination of taking care and the need of security and something to hold on to. May I refer to Cafe Astrology for more on Sun opposition Moon? The Scorpio Ascendant is in aspect with Sun and Moon: he'll do well in the spotlights.

ROYALTY
The importance of the dynasty and being the heir is represented by Ceres. Ceres is biquintile IC and quindecile (165d) natal Sun.
First borns have a special position when it comes to inheriting a title. This young man has Jupiter in the 6th degree of Cancer, part of the grand trine. Jupiter is in minor aspect with Midheaven (a 75d aspic) and IC (105).

SUCCESSION
I quote myself about William on Father's day (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/06/fatherday-special-royal-fathers-charts.html)

" In the solar return chart of his birthday on June 21, 2013, Ceres (dynasty, genes) is in the final degree of Cancer. That is  spot on the progressed Sun of the Prince and highlights the theme of motherhood/parenthood".

The Ceres of this father's solar return chart is in 29d29 Cancer. That is conjunct the son's natal sun.

SYNASTRY
The Jupiter of William is square the boy's Sun (out of sign). He might spoil his Sun a bit too much and wants to help and protect him more than is usual.
Transit Saturn was trine his natal Moon on the day of birth, so in the relationship there will be a strong sense of responsibility.
On the day of birth the Sun was conjunct William's progressed Sun. It must have felt like a 'birthday':) In the synastry it means that the first period of baby boy's life there will be a strong bondage.

The Jupiter of Charles is inconjunct the Sun of baby boy. Grandfather may want to spoil him…

Mother Catherine had progressed Sun square Ceres (the symbol of dynasties and motherhood) and Progressed Mars square Sun. Transit Jupiter was inconjunct her Mercury and sesquis quare her progressed Sun.
I gave her a guess chart for a birth at 9:05 a.m. so that transit Uranus ruler 1 was square her natal Moon and transit Jupiter inconjunct her Midheaven, roughly. Here it is:

Chart of Mick Jagger

The chart of Mick Jagger is an A-rated chart of Astrodienst. Here it is, with transits and progressions for  July 12, 1962, the first day of the Rolling Stones.

If I didn't know whose natal chart this was, I'd start with the Astro ID and see the importance of ambition (Saturn), drawing attention (Sun) and...the importance of artistic talents (Moon, Venus, Neptune). Because:

  • Moon in Taurus ('calling' and semi square AC/MC midpoint),
  • Neptune ('calling' for vision at any possible level) and
  • Venus (exactly square Ascendant and making the tightest aspect, a trine with Mars)
  • As the Sun rules all the planets AND because the Sun is the final dispositor of the Midheaven I'd think of performance, show, being a leader or a star.
  • Saturn (rising before the Sun, 'calling' for ambition, no matter what),
In the autumn of 1963 Mick Jagger stopped Economy school (Progressed Sun sextile Saturn), because at that moment the Rolling Stones were already very popular. He became a professional artist.
I could tell a lot more about his transits and progressions during the years of his life, but who would be interested? There are more interesting objects of study. For example: Mick Jagger is also known for the amount of women that he shared his bed with. Among them: Marianne Faithfull, Margaret Trudeau, Mackenzie Phillips, Carla Bruni and Angelina Jolie. He has 7 children of 4 women and married twice. Where are all those women in his chart?
  1. He is cool (Venus Virgo) attractive (Venus square Ascendant) and passionate (Venus trine Mars).
  2. Saturn is ruler 8 and ruler 8 (of life and death and sex) is rising before his sun
  3. Mars semi square Sun/Moon and in Taurus gives a sort of a need for action and production. Or …. reproduction
  4. Venus and Neptune are of importance and they are situated in the 5th house of the opposite sex. Venus and Neptune are important for talents. They are also romantic and tend to have affairs. In the chart of Mick Jagger Neptune (romance!) is calling! It means that because of the lack of narrow major aspects in sign there is romance at any possible level, somehow, anyhow, always...
  5. Let's not forget that Mick Jagger is a worshipped star. The Sun is of vital importance in the chart, ruling all planets. As there are 50% placements in fire and in fixed signs, the sign Leo (and the ruler: Sun) is prominent. The Sun is the star in the chart. It is much easier for a star to get a lot of fans and beautiful mistresses.
  6. Think of the situation: Mick's star was rising in the 'free' 60s, his status (Saturn!) and his drive (Mars=Sun/Moon) came together and the result was the king bee.

TOUR?
Now and in the next period of time, the transit of Uranus and Pluto will hit the progressed Sun, Midheaven/IC and natal Moon of Mick Jagger and probably cause upheaval. In fact, it has already begun.  He is under pressure and there are a lot of speculations (Transit Neptune inconjunct his natal Sun) about a final tour. It is a hype that causes stress, mixed emotions and nerves.
Stage fright? Still?

Spiderman Alain Robert's chart

Aranya (Wiki Commons)
The chart of Spiderman Alain Robert (born August 7, 1962 in Valence, France, no hour of birth) shows exactly what he is doing: taking risks before an audience...
First his Astro ID:

1. Mars, the symbol of action, aggression, energy and males, is rising before his sun.
2. Venus is 'calling'(for entertainment, beauty and style at any possible level).
1+2=The prominence of Venus and Mars points at passion.

The two tightest aspects are:
1. Sun opposition Pholus (turning points in life, with the risk of 'shooting your own feet')
2. Jupiter trine Neptune (the devoted audience)

Add the possibility of the Moon in Scorpio (the sign that dares...) and the Sun in Leo (the sign that loves a good show) and there is the picture of Alain Robert, Spiderman!

Cancer keeps it simple...

With the sunsign confusion on the internet, it is nice to see that the tropical zodiac is being confirmed by the facts. Read this:
http://www.newser.com/story/108474/prince-william-kate-no-servants-for-us.html
or this
http://www.people.com/people/package/article/0,,20395222_20453914,00.html

Prince William and Kate will not have servants in the first 3 years of their marriage. They like to live a normal life. (When I read that they won't have servants (at all?!)  I was thinking of poor Kate Middleton, assisted by William, doing the floors of a complete castle, but no, they are living in a 4 bedroom house in Wales...When they are in London, they are invited to share (part of the) bautiful Buckingham Palace with the Queen, or to live in St.James Palace (in a renovated part of it).
Should they wipe the floors together, over there? Maybe they do.)

The couple shares a Cancer Moon (but Kate's progressed Moon has now changed to Leo, the royal sign:). And you know Cancer...Cancers aren't big spenders and they like to keep it simple. We all know what ' going Dutch' means and the Netherlands is supposed to have a Cancer Ascendant, maybe just for this reason. Especially the Moon in Cancer can be very frugal when it comes to little things (and still be a big spender, for example with a Leo or Pisces Sun), even on holidays. In the sunshine sunsigh holiday guide you may read this about Cancer-kind of holidays:

Cancer and Moon: simple, not expansive and like at home (in a tent, caravan or in the house of relatives), back to the spot of last year again...

My home is my castle, says Cancer, and Cancer Will's will have that castle, later. When they are in London, they are invited to share (part of the) beautiful Buckingham Palace with the Queen, or to live in St.James Palace (in a renovated part of it). The Daily Mail seems to know exactly where, how and what and here is the link...

Videla, Saturn and Uranus

I have written several posts about limitations of freedom as a central issue in the charts and lives of persons with a prominent Saturn-Uranus complex. (Use the label 'Saturn Uranus' to see them all and see the links to older posts below). A new example of this combination of freedom, restrictions and the struggle in between is Jorge Videla (August 2, 1925). Recently he has been sentenced to jail for his part in the disappearances and deaths of thousands of young opponents of his severe regime.

TO BE RESTRICTED
Jorge Rafael Videla is the former leader of the junta in Argentina. In his chart the Sun is square Saturn and sesquisquare Uranus with Uranus opposition the midpoint Sun/Saturn (and Saturn-Uranus in a sesquisquare). The combination of Saturn-Uranus, highlighted by the aspect with the Sun, is the combination of limited freedom. That is correct. He is in jail now.

TO RESTRICT
His junta was guilty of many crimes and restricted the freedom of the people. Not all of the crimes have been solved, yet. This is the chart of the day that Videla was born. The positions of his birthday contain a lot of information about the potentials and possibilities of suppression, like Sun square Saturn (managing to be in charge, preferably on your own). He is not the only dictator with a Sun-Saturn aspect. Chavez has it, too. The natal Sun of Videla is also sesquisquare Uranus. That makes Saturn-Uranus (the theme of the restricted liberty) an issue in his life.
AND:
  • The chart lacks placements in air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius). Communications at any possible level, and sometimes you can't argue with him (he is not reasonable), that is what it means...
  • The ambition is obvious with Sun in Leo and Moon in Capricorn*) , but he is also controversial (Sun sesquisquare Uranus.
  • Pluto rises before the Sun. That is for a strategic and political orientation. He started with looking forward to having much (Jupiter’s opposition to Pluto) power and influence.
  • Mars inconjunct Uranus for the drive to change and revolt with a lost in the end.
In fact, the chart shows an ambitious strategist with an urge to make immediate changes (with the risk to loose the fight in the end) and with the issue of restrictions as a main theme in his life.

He happened to be a general and he happened to become a president (with the support of many, mirrored by the Moon's aspects with Jupiter and Pluto) so that he was enabled to fully take hard and immediate measures (Sun square Saturn and Mars 75 degrees from Saturn, and inconjunct Uranus). You can see acts (Mars) to restrict freedom (Saturn and Uranus), to be limited in independence and freedom and/or to break free (Saturn-Uranus). It is a dangerous chart when it is the chart of a leading politician.

*) Sun Leo (wants to be in the center of attention), Moon Capricorn (need to be respected), Sun square Saturn (wants to be in charge)

Winston Churchill's natal chart

NOVEMBER 30 is the birthday of Winston Churchill. There are 3 posts about his natal chart on Astropost. His chart is the chart of a politician, above all, of leadership and ... of an artistic talent. It is clearly in the chart.

POLITICAL LEADERSHIP: Pluto and fixed/fire signs
The 'finger of God' in a Yod is pointing at the planet that is making an inconjunction with the two other planets, the apex. This 'finger of God' is pointing at Pluto and this highlighted Pluto is quintile his Mars: for the creative drive to win. Pluto is the symbol of winning, authority, power, strategy and politics. Pluto is the apex of his Yod of Pluto, Venus and Jupiter. Venus-Jupiter-Pluto is the trio of 'a lot of money' and of 'a lot of admirers'.

The 50% placements in fixed signs is for holding on and standing firm, the 50% in firesigns shows drive and pride. The fixed + fire sign Leo is the sign of leadership. The elementary placements in his chart also show the fundaments of leadership...

ARTISTIC PATTERN
He was a political leader and ...a painter and author. Moon 112.5 (square + half semi square) Venus and trine Neptune, connected with Midheaven show the pattern of artistic talent. And we can see the international and the optimist (Jupiter rising before the Sagittarius Sun) and Ceres (the motherland).

ASPECTS
Mars exactly trine Pholus
You know that Pholus is the astrological symbol of the turning point and Mars is the symbol of war. It seems perfectly correct that Winston Churchill was born on the day that there was a trine (symbol of ease) between Mars and Pholus. He made efforts and worked to create a turning point in World War II. Mars is also quintile Pluto for the dramatic creative winner*).

Mercury in Scorpio square Uranus
Mercury-Uranus always has controversial opinions and Winston Churchill was no exception.*)Some of the things that he said would bring him in trouble today, but the speech about the beaches was great...
"We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."

*) See the label Mercury-Uranus or google 'Astropost Mercury Uranus' for examples of the effect of this aspect in the charsts of famous controversial people like Sarah Palin (Mercury quintile Uranus), Berlusconi (always in the news...), Helen Thomas, David Cern and Sarazzin...

Born June 29, Bernhard von Lippe (married to a Queen)

When Prince Bernhard of Lippe Biesterfeld met his later spouse, the Dutch Crown Princess Juliana, transit Jupiter, ruler of his 7th house of marriage and relationships, was conjunct (=on) his Descendant, the starting point of the 7th house.
It was a perfect astrological moment. Also his progressed Sun was about to change sign, like his lifestyle was…Progressed Midheaven trine the Sun promised a bright future.

It was time for a life changing relationship.

You see his chart, transits and progressions for the early months of 1936 here.

URANUS CALLING
Prince Bernhard was 'notorious' for various reasons. Accusations like ‘ Nazi-Prince’, the Lockheed affair (a scandal about getting money for using influence) and facts about his affairs make an astrologer think of Uranus. And indeed, Uranus is ‘calling’! in the house of values, sexuality and ‘life and death’. He survived accidents and surgery like a cat with seven lives! Maybe Sun trine Jupiter and half semi square Uranus helped him get old in spite of all the adventures.

MARRIED WITH AFFAIRS
He never divorced but he and his wife stopped sharing the bedroom in the 50ies. He had Mercury ruler 1 trine Jupiter ruler 7 and Venus trine Mars. But Venus was also square Saturn, semi sextile Neptune. Also there is a  Moon square Saturn and half semi square Neptune. Those are 3 out of 4 aspects that use to lessen the possibility of long lasting marriage in the chart of males. But this guy married a Taurus Princess and divorce was not good for the country (they thought), so they sticked together. The match?

MATCH WITH JULIANA
Sun sextile Sun (they could live together)
Moon in Leo (he was rather luxurious) semi sextile Moon in Virgo (she was rather modest)
Mercury not in conflict with Mercury (neutral)
Venus in Leo contra Venus in Taurus (differences in style, sympathies and tastes)
Mars half quintile Mars (creative reproductionJ
Jupiter sextile Jupiter (matching convictions)
Saturn semi sextile Saturn (not matching moral)
Her Quaoar square his Saturn (a brand new status)
Her Uranus inconjunct his Venus (disrupted relationship)
Her Saturn trine his Descendant (enduring relationship)

This explains why they didn’t live together but remained married. It is one of those contradictions reflecting real life events.

BTW His Saturn was square her Midheaven (he limited her status in the Greet Hofmans affair, the scandal of the Queen getting too involved  with a healer  who claimed to be able to cure her daughters’ eye ailment with prairs).

And think of this: Leo is a royal sign (the lion is the king of animals:).  Bernhard had Moon and Venus in Leo.  His fortunate marriage was important for his status. The ‘ calling’  Juno (symbol of marriage) is trine Midheaven.

Chart and life of Evita Peron

One of the most interesting lives of women is the life of Evita Peron. Her natal chart for May 7, 1919 at 5h15 LMT Los Toldos is perfect for this woman with sense of drama, glamour and persistence. She was an idol and her life revolved around politics, sex, power and influence. Like in the case of Princess Diana her death and funeral became a public drama. What in het chart shows this? And how do the progressions (and transits) correspond with her life?

The most remarkable things in her chart (considering what we know about Evita Perron) are:
1. Neptune is ‘ calling’ and angular (close to the IC). This makes us think of romance, an idol, mystery, scandal, charity and art…all this at any possible level. We know that Evita Peron wAs an idol. But there is another side on Neptune on IC and that is for a negative background.
2. Fixed signs are important in her chart. 50% of the positions are in fixed signs, reflecting will power.
3. Leo Moon for the need to show off and for the drama queen. The Moon conjunct Saturn is reflecting the way she remembered her childhood (cold and hard).
4. Sun/Moon semi square Pluto shows us that she was motivated by power and influence.
5. Sun square Saturn (wide aspect, but the Sun and Saturn are both in aspect with the Moon).
Her father never acknowledge his daughter and died when she was only 7 (and the square had grown tighter in progression). Like a lot of other persons with Sun-Saturn she managed to be in charge... (click for more examples).
6. Mars semi square Aries Point en conjunct Sun reveals an assertive woman, the importance of men (and soldiers) and her enterprise. She would marry an important man and the army would block her attempt to become the vice-president.
7. Venus (final dispositor of Midheaven) is biquintile Midheaven for a creative way to improve her status (with the help of beauty, talent and charm)
8. Pholus sesquisquare Ascendant might reflect how her situation changed. The midpoint AC/MC is square Pholus in this B-rated chart (source Astrodatabank) and seems to be correct because she definitely altered her state of being (from poor peasant girl to First Lady). Pholus is in her 8th house of life and death, revealing the importance of her death for who she would be in the end (she became ‘ immortal’).

When she was born she didn't exactly have the kind of chart that promissed a glorious life. The tightest angular placement is for Vesta on IC: she was dedicated to her goals!

PROGRESSIONS
9. She left her home town for Buenos Aires at age 15(!). That was a right decision at the perfect time. The progressions of that year are: P Sun trine MC, P MC square Sun, P Moon trine Venus, sesquisquare Jupiter and trine Pluto – successful combination for an artist – and P Venus conjunct Jupiter. It is an abundancy of nice and shiny aspects, completed by transit Pholus trine progressed Ascendant (the small start of a new presentation). Also, her progressed Sun had changed sign and that is an indication for a change in lifestyle. The first aspect in the new sign was a quintile with progressed Juno. The next period of 30 years of her life started with the symbol of the married woman in a creative aspect with her sun. In the progressed chart Mercury (ruler of the progressed 5th house of entertainment, the other gender, and show) was on the Ascendant. There was one little nasty thing: P Moon opposition P Saturn, reflecting hard or bad feelings, feeling alone.

10. When she met Juan Peron she had P MC trine Venus (ruler of the seventh house), an appropiate aspect for finding a partner. Shortly after meeting him, the progressed Moon was conjunct Jupiter and that is a fortunate aspect. Her progressed Sun was opposition Pholus, reflecting a turning point in life achieved by others, when Juan Peron was elected President and she became First Lady.

11. Her Pluto was inconjunct the Northern Node and afflicting her Moon. As soon as she could she took revenge on the middle class people who looked down on her when she was younger and less important. She abused her position of power to get this revenge.

12. There were only 6 years of glory. In November of 1951 (with progressed Mars quintile Saturn) she was told that she had advanced cervical cancer. She was creative enough (quintile) to use iron (Mars) constructions (Saturn) to keep herself up right until the end.

13. She passed away on July 26 1952 at 20h23. There are several indications in the solar return chart. I won't name all of them (who would like to know?). 1. Pholus crossed over the Midheaven and Pholus is in the natal 8th house of life and death + pointing at a turning point in her condition. Since she was already seriously ill, this was a bad sign. 2. Also P MC was sextile Orcus (the symbol of the underworld). 3. Transit Saturn sesquisquare Progressed Ascendant and afflicting progressed Sun/Moon. 4. Transit Jupiter -ruler of the progressed 8th house- is semi square natal Sun/Moon.

MATCH WITH JUAN
Evita had several indications for a possible divorce and I wonder if she would have divorce Juan Peron if she had not died so young. Her Sun is conjunct Mars and 75 d Uranus with Mars in a wider square with Saturn. Those are 3 of the 4 possible indications. Juan Peron (born October 8, 1895) also had Sun conjunct Mars. As soon as the common enemy would be beaten they would start competing. Their Suns are inconjunct and her Mars is inconjunct his. His Chiron is inconjunct her natal Sun. Three inconjunctions bind them. It is a sort of a statement of ‘ lost’ and loosing each other. Nevertheless the popularity of Evita Peron was important for her husband. In his chart Venus is on top, inconjunct Neptune. The planets who are most prominent in the chart of Evita are angular in his chart. Perhaps they shared the same romantic ideal and what is more romantic than a sad love story? Here you see her chart. The positions of the transits are for the day of birth of Juan Peron.

Aquarians: Sarah Palin and Queen Beatrix

In the sphinx the three fixed signs come together: human mind, royal Leo body and the wings of the eagle and a serpent headed tail (symbols of Scorpio). The human head (a female head, btw) is part of the combination, like the signs are part of the combination of fixed signs. There is no sphinx without the head, or without the body or without the tail. They are a unity and Aquarius is just one part of it. Aquarius is on the head, because Aquarius is an air sign, the sign of the mind.

Aquarius is supposed to be the sign of liberty, equality and brotherhood. That is why Aquarius is often seen as the sign of socialism and communism*). Aquarius is the sign that is facing the royal and loyal Leo. Leo is the sign of showing off. Aquarius – in the opposition – was often related to Mao’s jacket and the word ‘ comrade’ or the French revolution and abolishing nobility. The French Revolution and the Statue of Liberty are often supposed to be one of the first signs of a new age of Aquarius, a humanitarian and emancipated age without royal privaleges (but I guess it is more about equal chances and indepence). We all know the hopeful song...(scroll down for the video)
Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind's true liberation
Aquarius! Aquarius!
And we all know how it was in socialist Rumania when Nicolae CeauÅŸescu was the leader with absolute power.
So please, no so called equality! But then what will the new age bring us? Perhaps nothing new, but a lot of conservative technocracy and independence in unity. I think so because I have two great examples of how Aquarius is NOT about socialism and equality: Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and Sarah Palin of the Tea Party. They share a lot of placements in Aquarius and a tight conjunction between Mars and Saturn. They do what used to be a man's job. And they may be modern and different, but they are also conservative. In a way they stick to old concepts.

BASIC AQUARIUS
In my article about basic astrology on my site Astromarkt you find a (rather rude) characterisation of Aquarius:

You show having Sun in Aquarius by:
- being just a little different from the rest (of the family or neighbourhood)
- openly having another opinions than the group has
- revolt against suppression
- hearing, seeing and smiling (silence is not your style); being observant
- not showing emotions soon or trying to prevent it
- having to change everything every time

Moon in Aquarius: You have an independent soul and you sure do not like being obligated to have family meetings and so on. You may know a lot of people, but you keep a certain distance when it comes to emotions. Sometimes you have the nasty feeling that you can laugh about your own misery. As a mother you are more of a friend and sometimes distant, too. You seem to care more about situations far away or abroad than about those close to you.

Of course, the sign is just part of ' you' , but this post is about the sign and the effect of placements in Aquarius.

BEATRIX
When Queen Beatrix started her period of reign (now 30 years ago) she immediately changed rules and methods and (unlike her mother Juliana) wanted to be named ‘ Your majesty’ (not ‘Madame’). Efficiently she appointed her own folks at court. She is modern, yes, but she also very much the Queen.

SARAH
Sarah Palin also has a lot of Aquarius in her chart and she is ultra conservative. The majority of voters wanted a president who promised change and she is ready to turn back time. She may be a different kind of Republican and a mother who manages to be seen as a possible president of the USA by many, but she is also the spitting image of a conservative Republican and ambitious enough to aim at the presidency.

Aquarius seems to be the sign of antique shops, too, of revival of classical concepts. And perhaps that is what Queen Beatrix and Sarah Palin have in common, besides a certain drive to work (too) hard: they will do it differently than their predecessors and as independent women on top.

Here are the charts (Beatrix with transits and progression for the day that she became Queen; Sarah Palin's guess chart for yesterday when she started her Tea Party Tour). For more about Sarah Palin on this blog, click here. And for more about Aquarius, see the Basics of Astrology on Astromarkt or this post about Exit Mundi 2012. And here is the link to ' Age of Aquarius' by Gene Ray (about Royal Regulus and the start of the new age).

*)Socialism is in fact (like all ideologies) one of the Pisces-ways.
Besides: I think that Aquarius is the sign of controversy, doing it differently, drawing attention with change and upheavel and a very technocratic style of leadership. Equality, OK, but some are more equal than others are. That is because there is that fine line between Aquarius and Leo, like there is a line between Pisces (Roman Catholic Christianity and monestries, for example) and Virgo (the Virgin, celebicay). Now that we get closer to the age of Aquarius, in the period of transformation of changing signs, we see the decay of the concept of Pisces: sacrifice, seclusion, silence and the counterpart Virgo: service, celibacy and purity.
*)Socialism is in fact (like all ideologies) one of the Pisces-ways. Technology, technocracy and efficiency will rule the Age of Aquarius, IMHO, and the other side will be Leo-like: noble leadership, autocracy and centralism. There will be more and more unions of nations and though they will distinguish themselves and perhaps there will even be a revival of classical and antique habits and protocals, but together they will operate as one.

(says a progressed Aquarian with Moon in Aquarius;)

Here is the song: let the Leo sun shine in:)

Astrology chart of Mao Tse Tung

One of the founders of the People’s Republic of China and the first President of the nation was Mao Tse Tung. He was born December 26 1893 at 7h30 a.m. in Hsiangtar or Siang Tan. The hour of birth has a C-rating only, according to Astrodatabank, so I will pay more attention to the planets.

The first thing that I notice is that the Sun doesn’t make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. That is ‘peregrine’ or ‘calling’ Sun and it means that he will draw attention at any possible level. This prominent Sun is quintile Saturn (for a creative way to be in charge). He was also born with the Sun in Capricorn and a Leo Moon in a tight square with Uranus. The combination of Capricorn-Leo is not rare in politics or management, neither is the combination of the dispositors of these signs (Sun-Saturn). It involves ambition to be a leader or manager.

The second thing is that the Sun/Moon midpoint for this hour is in aspect with both Saturn and Pluto. It is the combination of the ‘die hard’, the politician who is not afraid of hard confrontations. He is being motivated by ambition and power. More about Saturn and Pluto….

Mars is rising before his prominent Sun. This is reflecting the activist and fighter, a soldier, entrepeneur or promotor.

Conclusion: this is the chart of a die hard political fighter and leader. But where in this chart is the adored God-like person who improved the lives of many and was hated, too, and responsible for the death of millions? I think that progressions and transits on crucial moments in time offered the opportunity to become that person. The chart of Mao (and any other chart) should be read given the conditions and situation at the time and place in history.

- January 1935: Mao becomes the political leader, the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party. That is with Progressed Midheaven opposition Pluto (a challenging position, profit, power). At the same time progressed Jupiter returned to the natal position (successful progress) and it was just after transit Pluto square progressed Saturn (the ‘die hard’ was born).

- In 1942 he married his third wife, Jiang Qing. That was in the year of progressed Sun trine Saturn while the Ascendant afflicted both Saturn and Pluto. He introduced his management practices. Party leaders had to criticize themselves the hard way (so called rectification campaign).

- In 1944 he became the states leader according to the Communist party, but only after a civil war (on October 1, 1949) he became President of the People’s Republic of China. That day the transiting sun was sesqui square progressed and natal Jupiter and trine progressed Pluto (the combination for success). Transit Uranus was opposition Mao’s Sun (life changing) and Saturn was trine the Ascendant (he was respected and made name).

- In order to secure his powerful position he organized the so called Cultural Revolution in 1966. In 1966 there was a conjunction of Uranus and Pluto. This revolutionary aspect was exactly square the progressed Sun of Mao Zedong! Maybe it meant a radical change in HIS life. But it certainly meant a radial change for the people of China.*)

When Mao died on September 9, 1976 transit Uranus was exactly conjunct the progressed Sun of China (see the chart in the earlier post). Also the progressed Sun of China was trine Uranus. It was apparently time for a change and it was of course a shock for his followers. Or liberation…Uranus is the symbol of freedom.

Above you see the natal chart of Mao Tse Tung and the transits on the day of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China. More about China in an earlier post…http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/09/chart-of-china-60-years-old.html

*) This is a good example of the influence of the leaders' chart for his followers.
His transit of dramatic change caused dramatic upheavel, and a lot of arrests and (ruined) lives.

Chart of Queen Mother Elizabeth (and the Windsors)

The Daily Mail has a story about the late Queen Mother of England called 'That spiteful old soak dedicated to making our lives hell', quoting the Duke of Windsor in 1971. 'Our lives' were the joined lives of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. When you have a quick look at her chart you immediately notice Mars-Neptune opposition Saturn, on the horizon. This aspect is indeed of crucial importance. She spent half of her life alone and lost her husband Albert (later King George) in her early 50s, in 1952.

It seems that she blamed the Duke of (former King Edward VIII) for this. Because of his abdication, in order to marry the divorced Wallis Simpson, Albert had to become king and that was too much for his health.

Saturn is the symbol of blame and restrictions or barriers. Queen mother Elizabeth and Wallis Simpson had their Saturns in bad aspect with each others Suns! (Saturn of Wallis Simpson is square the natal Sun of the Queen Mum, and the Queen Mother's Saturn was exactly opposition the Sun of Wallis Simpson). It is likely that the ladies blamed each other for the bad sides of their lives. There is another reason for not accepting her sister in law: she didn't belong to the nobility. Leo (Sun sign of Elizabeth) CAN be very proud.
Also, Edward VIII had a strong Mars on Aries Point, square the Sun. Elizabeth had Mars conjunct her Ascendant and semi square Sun. They were both fighters, both 'sharp'.

REVENGE?
The Queen Mother had an afflicted Scorpio Moon, square Sun, semi square Saturn and sesquisquare Neptune. Scorpio Moon ladies are tough and that is why we see lots of them managing big companies. Scorpio is the sign that doesn't forget and seeks revenge (when afflicted). Because of the abdication of the Duke the Queen Mother's husband had to become King and she considered that to be one of the main reasons for his early death. Heredity is an item in the synastry between their charts: his Ceres is square her Ascendant/Descendant.

They share aspects the kind of aspect that show us that they shared bad memories (Moon-Saturn) and unpleasant affairs (Mars-Neptune).

CERES
When her husband Albert died, in 1952, her progressed sun sign had changed sign to Libra, reflecting her changing life and life style. From that day on she was 'Queen Mother' and she hated that title. Notice that Ceres - the symbol of motherly love - is not very far from Midheaven (and perhaps correction of the hour of birth would even bring Ceres closer to the MC). So she became a most prominent female icon.

Astrology chart King Carl Gustav (till he dies)

The Swedisch king (konung) Carl Gustav has stated that he wants to reign until he dies and that is a long time from now (since his ancestors lived long lives). With 80% of his placements in fire or air signs he might live just as long (see 'Old' on my site Astromarkt). He is expressive and not holding back emotions.

His Astro I.D. fits a king:
- elevated Sun (leadership, drawing attention, being in the center)
- Ceres on the Descendant for the importance of succession (genes, roots)
- Jupiter oppositiion Midheaven: travelling, success
- Moon rising before the Sun (being 'involved' or ...popular)

And he has a 'royal' Ascendant: Leo!

There is an explanation for his wish to continue his 'job' until death. Just like football coache he has an aspect between Sun and Pluto. That means that he wants to win and dominate (very much, it is a square). This square is in fixed signs, the signs of strong will and perseverance. Sun-Pluto aspects are for fanatics!:)

The controversial transit Uranus of Betancourt

Jupiter inconjunct Pluto reflects the disproportional price to pay (Pluto) for success (Jupiter) and the danger (Pluto) of confidence (Jupiter). This inconjunction is a symbol of success, but... Read about the aspect with the meaning of 'but...' in the post about inconjunctions. Jupiter inconjunct Pluto is in the natal chart of Ingrid Betancourt. And it is activated now that transit Pluto is conjunct her natal Sun and transit Jupiter is square Ascendant.

Ingrid Betancourt payed the price after she went to a dangerous place in spite of advices. She was there together with other prisoners of FARC, like her friend Carla. Carla is no longer her friend now and neither are other co-prisoners, like for example the Americans who wrote a book about their period in the jungle. They say that Ingrid Betancourt behaved like a queen. How else can one behave with Moon in Leo?:) On Astromarkt.net I write about Moon in Leo:

"Those with Moon in Leo have a sense for status and sometimes they walk around showing off where there in fact is nothing to be shown but fake. It is a position for pretensions. They just have a need to draw attention and look royal (dressed up with 'jewels', 'furs' etc.).
Evita Perron, Margareth Thatcher, Nancy Reagan, Raisa Gorbatsjov and Queen Elisabeth have such a moon in their chart."

So perhaps they experienced her behaviour like that. More serious is the accusation that she endangered the lives of the Americans by saying that they could be FBI-agents. As to be expected with transit Jupiter aspecting the Ascendant, there is support too, and it is coming from other captives.

WITH URANUS: YOU ARE IN THE NEWS...
This controversy goes with a transit of Uranus semi square her natal Midheaven and the negative review of the past is reflected by the inconjunction of transit Neptune with her progressed IC. The press and the papers are reflected by Uranus and Neptune. See the news in Euronews

Chart of Nancy Reagan, President Ronald Reagan and astrology

A week ago, Barack Obama joked about Nancy Reagan saying that HE did not consult dead presidents. Later he apologized. Nancy Reagan consulted astrologers, she was not using mediums. I think that this is a good moment to read the chart of the former first lady of the USA. (Click here for the Dutch version of Nancy Reagan's chart reading)

Her Moon in Leo is calling (not making major aspects) and crucial (angular, on the MC)
Her Venus in Taurus is calling, too
And her Node is conjunct the Ascendant

We can also see the man with power in her chart (Mars and Pluto rising before her Sun).

HER ASTRO I.D.
The Moon in Leo is most prominent in her chart. Nancy distinguishes herself by a need for attention, luxury and glamour at any possible level. Imagine how a woman with a screaming Moon in Leo on the Midheaven will always and above all be and you see the spitting image of Mrs. Bouquet or Mrs. Bucket, a character in a British television series. Mrs. Bucket wants to have attention the royal way and she wishes to be a sort of a first lady. Well, Nancy managed to be one!

Venus calling tells us about good taste and manners, diplomacy, cooperation skills and beauty or charm. And the placement of the Northern Node on the Ascendant indicates that her way of acting is adapted to the sort of company.

All this leads to the conclusion that this chart belongs to a very proud and representative lady.

Moon/Venus/Node- combinations indicate a group of beauties. Nancy Reagan was a beauty queen, a movie star, and as the wife of Reagan she made the White House a palace, because Venus is for decorations:)
But watch it: she didn’t have the position because SHE was a leader or a chairman. She had a position politics (Pluto, Saturn) prominent. All of her life Nancy Reagan remained a royal beauty queen with an important sort of company.

QUICK SCAN
Now let us have a look at the character. Does her character ‘go’ with her I.D.?
We see Sun in Cancer and a Moon on top for imitation, education, acting and keeping things going in the house. Sun and Moon are in mutual reception and that makes us aware of the importance of marriage in her life. Performing, showing off (Leo and Moon on MC) was important for her. The Libra Ascendant makes us think of her prominent Venus. She combined a certain starry role (Moon in Leo on MC) with the will to keep traditions alive.

So yes, her ID and character are matching. That is how you get the rather traditional (Moon, Cancer) role of the presidents’ wife, in combination with drawing attention, glamour and luxury (Leo). Leo is also a good sign for being loyal and she has always been loyal to President Reagan. Her Pluto square his Midheaven and his trine her Ascendant show the great influence that they had on each other.

ASTROLOGY
I have found Jupiter-Uranus combinations in all of the charts of astrologers. And where do we find Nancy's interest in astrology? Perhaps it is the combination of the Sun sextile Jupiter and trine Uranus and the creative biquintile of Uranus with Midheaven in the chart of Nancy.

I also see Jupiter-Uranus combinations in the chart of her husband. Jupiter, square the Aquarius Sun, with Jupiter quintile Uranus...

Well, history is positive about the Reagan-period. And that is positive for astrology, whatever jokes they are making.

NEPTUNE for killing you softly

Love, love, love, all we need is ...(well, I like chocolate, too:)

Love is a hot item. It seems everybody is looking for the perfect match and nobody wants to have romantic failures, suicide out of grieve or having to wait (in abstinence, of course) till age 70 to be together again. It is now or never! Neptune is under valuated:) Is that so?

Let me introduce you into the world of romantic love. Once upon a time there was a poet in my country (Herman Gorter) who wrote a very impressive poem about the death of a female friend. It was called 'In the black night' and it describes the way she died, drowning herself. I cannot fully translate it, but I will give an impression of the sentences that I like most of all. You know, I just love poems and their emotional impact:)!

In the black night
a human being came
the black nightly clouds drifted
the black nightly trees bended
and the wind blew, heavy and wearing black mourning clothes
(...)

she was standing, very still
and the tree, born long ago,
had guessed it by then -
and the wind and the clouds stood still
they had not thought of it before,
or else they would not have flown
and they would not have taken her there
(...)

Wow, that is romance. Herman was a friend of the family and he was struck by the death of the young singer, Anna Witsen, on March 5, 1889. She threw herself into the water, because of grieve out of love for a married man. And I have her chart.

She was born February 3, 1855 at 11:00 LMT in Amsterdam, the sister of a painter. She was talented and well known. Venus was high up in her chart, Jupiter was oriental. You can easily see the drama in her chart:

1 Passion!
Venus conjunct Mars (for passion) square Moon and Ascendant (unusual passionate behavior)
2. Emotion!
Prominent Moon in Leo, tightly square Ascendant, with only oppositions (for the troublesome drama queen; that was perfect on stage, less welcome at home…)

Please consider the period in time (the ROMANTIC period) and the position of women (who should not be involved with married men, if they ever wished to be married themselves). And who knows, maybe she was pregnant.

SATURN AND NEPTUNE
On March 5, 1889, the ticking biological clock in the shape of Saturn was opposition her natal Sun and inconjunct Neptune. (Do we see something sick, sad and ill?)
Neptune was of importance that day. Her natal sun was semi sextile Neptune. And there was transit Sun conjunct Neptune that day, to activate the issue. And yes, transit Neptune was also square her progressed Midheaven for the illusions.

It is unusual 'romance', even for the romantic 19th century. Her tragic death inspired one of Holland’s' best poets and that is why I posted it. Her Neptune was trine his MC**). Suicide may be a source of inspiration, but for most of us, the ultimate effect of a sad Neptune can be missed, like tooth ache!

PS In the chart of Anna, Venus-Mars is 75 degrees from Uranus, adding a sort of an obsession or compulsion to the passion (and maybe this is relating the passion to an impulse?).

**)Herman Gorter, 26 November 1864, 02:30:00 GMT, Wormerveer
