What's your orientation? Your chart shows you.

Talk about astrology and most of the time people know ' their sign' (the astrological sign of the sun). That is just part of what your chart tells you. The amount of information stops the majority on the way to learning astrology, so that the sun sign and sometimes the ascendant is all that they know. If they only had the drive to learn the symbols and look at their charts, they would be able to find the most important keys to themselves and their main characteristics. You can find them in your Astro ID like you can find them in the shape of your face, the scars and the color of your eyes. That is what your chart won't tell you (at least, not that I know of), but your chart can tell you:

1. Your general view of life itself (your orientation)
2. Your crucial values and objectives (planets on the angles)
3. Your motivation (Sun/Moon midpoint aspects)
For 2. and 3. you need to have your hour and place of birth (and your own personal chart, to be calculated for free on the internet).

HOW TO FIND THE PLANET OF ORIENTATION?
Noel Tyl, in his book Vocations, points at the importance of what he names the 'oriental' planet, the planet rising before the sun. Here is how to find that point in your chart. Get your chart and find the Sun's symbol (a circle with a point in the middle).  Now move your finger clockwise in the circle (your finger moves to the right). What is the first object that you see? Found? Then search on the internet or buy books about the first planet rising before your sun! Or get an idea here! Was it...

Mercury? Well, like many of us, you would love to be a writer, but it will depend on Mercury's position (on an angle, without aspects, Out of Bounds) and your position in the world if you will succeed in communicating or being the 'intellectual'. So find the next planet.

Venus? You go for love, peace, beauty and happiness! The importance of estetics for your career or life style depends on a special position of Venus (on an angle, without aspects, Out of Bounds) and of course on your situation and place in society. You might just look for fun or beautiful women, at worse. So look at the next object. Move on that finger!

Mars? First, you want to DO something (about it). You are likely to be active, assertive and energetic enough to be an activist or soldier or entrepreneur. Or you are 'productive' (and more sexual active than the rest of us). Iron ladies have it (Margareth Thatcher). Jupiter? You are a positive person, looking forward to traveling, everything 'international' and/or publishing. Many internationals (in sports or football) have such a Jupiter, like Guus Hiddink (see the chart of his day of birth). More examples on this blog are:

If Jupiter is on the horizon or meridian, too or if Jupiter is Out of Bounds or not making any major aspect in sign or orb 5 degrees, this Mars will be even more important!

Saturn? You are classical:). For you it is Duty First! You follow your parents footsteps or try to walk the conventional ways. This makes you a perfect manager, caretaker for the elderly or scientist. Parenthood (and being responsible or guided by parents) is important for you. Uranus? I found Uranus rising before the sun in a number of charts of people who were very very old and I wonder if that is, because they are a. special b. a little out of time, not of 'today'. Here is the post:  http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/03/uranus-rising-before-sun.html When you are the only one left of your generation, you might feel like an alien sometimes. With Uranus oriental you may be trying to make this (or your own) world a better place or you are a rebel. Hugo Chavez had it  and Evita Perron had it (and they died rather young, so Uranus rising before the Sun is NOT a guarantee for living long). Sacha Baron Cohen has it. See any similarities?
(Note: Angular, not aspected or OOB Uranus rising before the Sun is extra important)

Neptune? You see the world as a magic place. You may look like a dreamer (and sometimes you are...). But sometimes you look softer than you really are...This Neptune is confusing, often 'double', anonymous or unclear, hiding behind nicknames or simply 'not of this world' (drifting on a cloud). There are ideological/idealistic politicians with Neptune rising before the sun, like Hilary Clinton. Faith, religion, fantasy or ideals guide you. Illusionist often have it. I have examples like Hans Kok, Houdin and Criss Angel...well, start with the chart of David Blain).

Pluto? Strategists have it, and politicians. They play checkons all the time. When Pluto rises before the Sun you see the importance and value of power, money, strength and influence. You may appear stronger than you are. Fifty percent of the 'James Bond's' have Pluto rising before the Sun and they are sure courageous, aren't they?:) They are also sexy and impress you somehow. Late Dutch Prince Bernhard (married to Queen Juliana) also had Pluto rising before the Sun.

The Moon rises before the Sun in the charts of people who's live depends on being part of a family, a group (a party, a tribe) or of the way that they know how to deal with their desires. Sometimes there is an orientation on children, childhood and education. Emotions and needs might lead you on the way through life (in a positive or in a negative way). You are the kind of person who is 'emotionally involved', like Mahatma Ghandi was.

Of course, you can have asteroids rising before your sun. They are as important as their position is in your chart (on an angle, for example, on Sun/Moon midpoint or tightly conjunct your Sun). In those cases, search the labels or find other sources to get the intrinsic meaning of that for you. If it is Juno, (finding) a partner might very important, for example.

There are always more ways to look at the meaning of a planet and there are always more parts of the chart to be considered. A very important planet, Sun or Moon might just 'spoil' the effect. Also, it very much depends on who you are, how old you are and where you live. If you are born somewhere on a mountain without money or perspective, the oriental Jupiter perhaps brings you to the library or study before you can start traveling. So take the ideas above and start working with them!

Midpoint combination Mars-Saturn-Pluto

The midpoint combination of Mars, Saturn and Pluto is the combination of death and disciplinary measures (Mars-Saturn), the natural rulers of endings and transformations (Saturn-Pluto) and the use and/or abuse of violence (Mars-Pluto). I have written about this combination before, for example regarding the chart of Osama bin Laden. This time the combination shows up in the story of a man who was executed because of a crime related to September 11.

Mark Stroman, the man who shot 3 innocent persons and killed 2 of them in the idea to revenge the death of his sister in one of the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, has been executed. In his chart, the combination of Mars, Saturn and Pluto is reflecting the violent events, in the natal chart as well as in the period of the crime. Gender, genes, social/cultural conditions and situations together with the chart sometimes bring about the most nasty sides of the meaning of planets. Mark Stroman's sister died a violent death, he killed two men and injured a third person and eventually he was sentenced to death.

Mark Stroman was born on October 13, 1969 in Dallas, Texas. Saturn was rising before the Sun and Venus. Saturn was 'calling' (no major aspects in signs or orb 5 degrees) and involved in what I name a 'midpoint yod': Saturn opposition the midpoint of Mars and Pluto. That midpoint combination Mars/Saturn/Pluto introduced the issue of the danger of death and the possibility of involvement in issues of unnatural death causes. The Mars-Saturn-Pluto combination was even more heavy because of the importance of Saturn (the orientational or oriental planet + the calling planet).

On September 11, 2001, the day that his sister lost her life, transit Pholus was opposition natal Saturn and conjunct natal Mars/Pluto. Pholus is the symbol of the turning point. This turning point was related to the theme of unnatural death and danger of death. Here are the natal positions of the day of birth with transits and progressions of September 11, 2001.

Now he died with Progressed Sun quindecile the symbol of revenge after death, Nessus.

The chart of Hugo Chavez

This post is about the chart of Hugo Chavez, his progressed Sun changing sign with Pluto inconjunct Sun and the recent lunar eclipse square his progressed Sun. Time for a change?

The president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez was born 28th July 1954 in Sabaneta, first - in 2006 - said to be born at 2:30 a.m. (according to astrologydatabase and anastrologersperspective) and now DD rated (very uncertain) at 4.00 a.m., also by Astrodatabank. In this chart Eris is elevated and Eris is the goddess of discord:). That is funny, but the progressions for the day that he became President (February 2, 1999) don't reflect the event and that is why I strongly doubt that he was really born at 4 a.m. That is why I won't use this hour of birth and stick to the planets and the aspects. 

CHAVEZ TODAY: forced changes

DD-rated chart with progressions and transits

Today, his progressed Sunsign is about to change and in the final degree of Virgo. The change of the progressive sunsign will change his life and lifestyle soon. Coincidently the progressed Sun is square the recent lunar eclipse in the final degree of Gemini. Also progressed Pluto is inconjunct natal Sun. 

All that won't help to maintain a position of authority and is reflecting forced changes. The opposition won, but he managed to control them by restricting freedom of speech, the internet and the power of the parliament. For how long?

HOW?

But, how did he get 'up there'? What in his chart shows that he is the number 1 of Venezuela? It is hard to say without a proper time of birth, but we can see the political mind (Mercury, Saturn, Pluto), the support that he got (Moon-Jupiter) and the controversial rebel that he is (Uranus rising before the Sun). Videla, Saturn and Uranus

I have written several posts about limitations of freedom as a central issue in the charts and lives of persons with a prominent Saturn-Uranus complex. (Use the label 'Saturn Uranus' to see them all and see the links to older posts below). A new example of this combination of freedom, restrictions and the struggle in between is Jorge Videla (August 2, 1925). Recently he has been sentenced to jail for his part in the disappearances and deaths of thousands of young opponents of his severe regime.

TO BE RESTRICTED

Jorge Rafael Videla is the former leader of the junta in Argentina. In his chart the Sun is square Saturn and sesquisquare Uranus with Uranus opposition the midpoint Sun/Saturn (and Saturn-Uranus in a sesquisquare). The combination of Saturn-Uranus, highlighted by the aspect with the Sun, is the combination of limited freedom. That is correct. He is in jail now.

TO RESTRICT

His junta was guilty of many crimes and restricted the freedom of the people. Not all of the crimes have been solved, yet. This is the chart of the day that Videla was born. The positions of his birthday contain a lot of information about the potentials and possibilities of suppression, like Sun square Saturn (managing to be in charge, preferably on your own). He is not the only dictator with a Sun-Saturn aspect. Chavez has it, too. The natal Sun of Videla is also sesquisquare Uranus. That makes Saturn-Uranus (the theme of the restricted liberty) an issue in his life.

AND:

• The chart lacks placements in air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius). Communications at any possible level, and sometimes you can't argue with him (he is not reasonable), that is what it means...
• The ambition is obvious with Sun in Leo and Moon in Capricorn*) , but he is also controversial (Sun sesquisquare Uranus.
• Pluto rises before the Sun. That is for a strategic and political orientation. He started with looking forward to having much (Jupiter’s opposition to Pluto) power and influence.
• Mars inconjunct Uranus for the drive to change and revolt with a lost in the end.

In fact, the chart shows an ambitious strategist with an urge to make immediate changes (with the risk to loose the fight in the end) and with the issue of restrictions as a main theme in his life.

He happened to be a general and he happened to become a president (with the support of many, mirrored by the Moon's aspects with Jupiter and Pluto) so that he was enabled to fully take hard and immediate measures (Sun square Saturn and Mars 75 degrees from Saturn, and inconjunct Uranus). You can see acts (Mars) to restrict freedom (Saturn and Uranus), to be limited in independence and freedom and/or to break free (Saturn-Uranus). It is a dangerous chart when it is the chart of a leading politician.

*) Sun Leo (wants to be in the center of attention), Moon Capricorn (need to be respected), Sun square Saturn (wants to be in charge)

Jupiter, zeppelins and a lady

This week I watched a documentary named 'Farewell' about Lady Hay Drummond-Hay, the first woman to fly around the world in ...a zeppelin. She published about the flight of the Graf Zeppelin and was famous in the days before the big crisis and before the Second World War. She died too young, after severe illness in a Japanese prisonners camp in WWII. What I like to mention about the chart of her day of birth is: Jupiter! Jupiter is 'calling' (no major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees) and Jupiter rises before the Sun. That is a very prominent Jupiter.
Jupiter is the symbol of the international, travelling and publishing. The prominence of Jupiter in her chart is perfectly corresponding with the main fact that we know about 'Gracie' Hay Drummond-Hay.

Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott: authority and rebellion

There is no clear result after the elections in Australia, where the (left wing) socialist Gillard and the (right wing) liberal Abbott were trying to become the next Prime Minister. The result of the elections is that the keys are in the hand of smaller parties, like the Green and that it takes more than one party for a government. The transits and progressions are almost just as unclear. The hours of birth of the candidates are unknow, too.

The charts of the days of birth are those of an authority and a believing rebel.
Julia Gillard is the PM of Australia and she has the chart of the authority. Her time unknown chart reveals why she is a politician. Pluto is prominent. On her day of birth Pluto, the planet of strategy, power,influence, money and politics, was rising before the Sun (in other words: Pluto was oriental or orientational if you like). That also means that she seems to know the right persons...and to be 'playing chess', like having elections at the right moment:).
If she was born in the late afternoon or evening (later than 14:00 hours), the Sun would be 'calling' and indicate leadership and drawing attention, somehow, anyhow*). That is why I posted this 18:00 hours chart. It is just a time and not the official or estimated birth time! Continue to read about her chart and Tony Abbott's....

Prominent positions (like in August 18-birth charts)

Today it is the birthday of Tad Mann, Dione Forti and Waldyr B. Fucher (astrologers),  Robert Redford(actor), Roman Polanski (director) and Boyer Coe (Mr. Universe). Their charts show us that the most prominent positions in their charts give an indication of the (most important part of their ) professional careers. How about your prominent positions? And what are they?

Planets (and Sun or Moon) on prominent positions stand out above all others. Find your prominent positions and check their meaning. Consider that there are a lot of ways to express your prominent planets! (So if you don't know the meanings, start learning about the basics of astrology and the basic meanings of Sun,Moon and planets here...). 

Prominent positions are:
- 'calling' : no  major (Ptolemaic) aspects in orb 5 degrees or in sign

- 'oriental' /'orientational' :rising before the Sun,Mercury and Venus. Everybody has at least one prominent planet: the object that it is rising before the Sun, Mercury and Venus. First: some examplary charts.

Mars square Uranus on October 12, 1983

The Katie Piper story is a tragic story about a beautiful woman whose ex-boyfriend hired a person in order to throw acid in her face on March 31, 2008. She was born October 12, 1983, just like the late Anthony Arline (football standout, suicide July 2010) , Gonzalo Garcia (football; attacking midfielder) and Alex Brosque (soccer player, had a baby on March 2, 2010) or Nolan Reimold (basesball outfielder*) and many many more men and women who didn’t have this nasty experience. The hours of birth are unknown. So what can an astrologer say about this sad incident and about the differences between her life and the lives of the sportsmen? 

First of all: that she is a woman!...A woman with Mars rising before the Sun (and Mercury) and square Uranus...

MARS and MARTIAL

The chart of the day of birth of Katie Piper has a prominent Mars rising before the Sun. It is the mark of the fighter (the entrepeneur, activist, soldier of sportsman) and for women it is often reflecting an orientation on what men do or on men in general. Mars is the symbol of males. While the men have an orientation on what men are supposed to do (play football, for example), to Katie Piper A MAN is of utmost importance: Daniel Lynch, her ex, a martial arts enthusiast…

MARS SQUARE URANUS

This oriental Mars is square Uranus. Mars-Uranus is the combination of incidents, accidents, short fuses and special drives or energie. In the charts of the males, this is one of the indications of possible divorce. It is accelerating drives, aggression and efforts. In the charts of those who need to be driven and swift, this aspect is helpful but it can also cause driving too fast. People with Mars-Uranus want to make changes, now! But what if you are a woman with an oriental Mars square Uranus? Apparently, you might get involved in accidents or incidents with peculiar men or sudden (Uranus) attacks (Mars) ment for you.

Oriana Fallaci (born June 29) and Vesta

This is about the natal chart of Oriana Fallaci, a very controversial – Sun square Uranus - journalist and author (Sagittarius MC and Mercury final dispositor of Midheaven) who died in 2006. See Wiki about her life. The hour of birth was mentioned on Luigi Stocchi’s site here… Scroll down for the drawing of that chart (with transits and progressions for the day that she died). It is said that she was born on a June 29, in 1929. Some sources mention June 24. I think that the chart below might be the correct one. The prominence of Mercury,Jupiter and Pluto is reflecting the famous author. The opposition of Saturn in Sagittarius and Vesta showed that her 'most cherished beliefs ....in opposition to cultural traditions and authorities' (quoting Members.wizzard.net).

VESTA
Instinctively I added Vesta as an additional object in the chart drawing and see: Vesta is opposition Midheaven (on the IC). Vesta is the symbol of the keeper of the domestic fire and of dedication. This dedication goes together with the symbol of 'background and home' (the IC).

The Romans related Vesta to Capricorn.

MERCURY, JUPITER & PLUTO
Mercury, Jupiter  and Pluto are the combination of a ' treasure of words'. This combination is prominent in the chart of Fallaci.

• MERCURY ‘ calling’

Fallaci decided not to obey and to say no to oppression for the rest of her life. She also decided not to choose her words very carefully in doing so. Just like General McChrystal (see the post here…) she had a ‘ calling’ Mercury (Mercury without major aspects in sign). A 'calling' Mercury is reflecting the issue of communications, at any possible level...(About missing elements and aspects, see Astromarkt:Conspicous by Absence)

• JUPITER ‘oriental’ (rising before the Sun)

Jupiter, ruler of the MC, is the oriental planet (that is the first outer planet rising before the Sun). Jupiter’s keyword is ‘ international’. She lived in New York and in Tuscany and interviewed VIPs all over the world form Kissinger to Khomeini and Sean Connery, too. Transportation (the axis of Mercury-Jupiter) was important and so was convincing others (also Mercury-Jupiter).

• PLUTO ‘calling’

When Pluto calls you can’t resist power, influence and politics.

Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto are prominent. The prominence of these three promises an impressive vocabulary and success in the field of communications (using words, books...talking and writing). As Jupiter rules the MC and Mercury is the final dispositor or Midheaven, the career is related to convincing with words. It is more then ‘reporting’ only. And Saturn in Sagittarius also has a role to play...

SATURN
In the article about sun signs and planets on Astromarkt (click to see the article http://www.astromarkt.net/Basics.htm) I wrote this about Saturn in Sagittarius:

"Hypocrite? Maybe, but then Michael Jackson, Madonna and Prince are too. You have a great sense for justice, and religion or conviction might play a heavy role in your life."
Translation:): you have a great sence of justice. Religion and/or conviction might play a big part in your life.

And that is in line with the importance of religion for her position and status in the years after 9-11. She was agnostic, but she spoke with the Pope and with Khomeini and she wrote a lot about Islam, as a professional (Saturn is on Midheaven) but with a sort of a dedication that makes it an issue of greater personal importance.

MORE
There is an opposition between Saturn and Vesta on the Meridian, perhaps showing a (public or professional) polarity.

When WWII started, the progressed Sun of Fallaci was conjunct Pluto (her ‘calling’ planet) and that is a sign for stress and challenges. It is also a sign of vital change (and being impressed, a period with great impact).

Her chart is pretty clear about it: she used a lot of words in her job and her position and the reputation is strongly related to the Sagittarian field of convictions and opinions.

HOW ABOUT YOU AND VESTA?
When Vesta is prominent in your (progressed) chart (f.ex. because of angular or oriental placement, or because Vesta is ‘ calling’ – without major aspects-), the word ‘dedication’ is your keyword. You ‘ go for it’ when you belief in it. Vesta also indicated what not to do in order to ‘ recharge’ and in order to avoid 'getting drained'. In the chart of Oriana Fallaci that is ‘ writing, speaking’ …her job! But the third house is also the house of the lungs (she was a heavy smoker).

When your progressed Sun or Midheaven is in aspect with Vesta, you might get dedicated to a project or commit yourself to something that might drain you, if you are not careful enough.

Nicolas Anelka and Raymond Domenech

Nicolas Anelka (born in Versailles, March 14 1979) offended his trainer (Raymond Domenech) during the WC2010 and was sent home, but still Domenech is rather calm about the incident, explaining that the WC football players suffer from a lot of stress. Anelka didn't want to apologize...

Jupiter is the planet of tolerance and wisdom. Raymond Domenech's Jupiter is sextile midheaven. Unfortunately, Anelka's Saturn is square the Midheaven of Domenech and inconjunct Domenech's Jupiter. Saturn is the hard liner of the planets, building barriers. The Saturn of Anelka is opposition his Mars and Mars is rising before his Sun. One of the possible effets of the Mars-Saturn opposition has been described on Cafe Astrology:

You can pick at yourself and others unmercifully

And that is what happened now and the target was the position (MC) as a coach (wise man leading the team: Jupiter) of Domenech. Notice that Anelka lost the confrontation...He was sent away. Mars-Saturn conflicts often eventually hurt yourself. And Jupiter is ...well, Jupiter is why Domenech is able to be tolerant. He already won.

How about you?
With an oriental Mars (that is when Mars rises before the Sun*) your orientation is on what Mars means: action, sport, aggression, militarism and drive. Hard aspects with Mars hurt (you or others).So when Mars is important (like when Mars is oriental), your first idea is to DO something (to hit, hurt or start up something). Anelka's prominent Mars is helpful in sports, but might damage or hurt sometimes, too. The oriental Mars is found in the charts of 'tough' women, soldiers and sports men or entrepeneurs and everywhere where the action is.

*) You find the planet rising before the Sun, by moving your finger clockwwise from the position of the Sun. The Ascendant (moving anti-clockwise) will reach Mars just before the Sun comes up (again), when Mars is the planet rising before the Sun.

Bryant Neals Vinas' chart with potential risk

This is the chart of the day of birth of Bryant Neal Vinas, alias Ibrahim; Bashir al-Ameriki and Ben Yameen al-Kanadeeis with transits and progressions for the day when he left the USA for Pakistan, in order to join a jihadist group where he planned to bomb a NY station. Bryant Neal Vinas converted to islam in 2004 (age 21), radicalized with the 'help' of the internet and left the USA in 2007. He was captured in 2008 and pleaded guilty in 2009. He might have to spend the rest of his life in jail. I wondered what would be (part of) the indications for possible radicalization and for converting in the natal/progressed chart. There is no hour of birth available. What I found in this chart is that the tightest aspects form the combination of Sun,Mars, Saturn and Uranus. It is a mixture that risks acts of rebellion and restricted freedom as a result of it in certain circumstances and social condications.

CHANGE OF RELIGION and URANUS
Usually I find Uranus in the ninth house of converted people (but without hour of birth it is unknown for Vinas).
People born on December 4, 1983 tend to want to be exceptional,different, to rebel and to change the world (Sun conjunct the oriental*) Uranus). The conjunction is getting stronger and tighter in progression, enabling him to estrange from his family.

This important Uranus is exactly sextile the planet of action and war (Mars): this urges to make changes, now! See the label Mars-Uranus or read the article on Astromarkt and you will notice that Mars-Uranus is always there where the action is and that terrorism or freedom fighting is asscociated with this aspect or midpoint. All the terrorists that I studied have a tight Mars/Uranus, the combination of the short fuse. So has Bryant Neal Vinas.

The symbol of restricted freedom (from protocol to jail) and efforts to break free is the combination Saturn-Uranus. On the day of birth of Bryant Neal Vinas Saturn was semi sextile Uranus. Saturn is in the middle of Mars and Uranus and that tells us that violence is an issue, somehow.

PROGRESSION and TRANSITS: FIRST JUPITER and THEN PHOLUS
When he moved to Asia, transit Jupiter was conjunct his Sun. Jupiter is the symbol of traveling, successes and the international. Jupiter is also the symbol of conviction. I have seen the Jupiter-Sun connection in the chart of a man who became a priest, too and it was even present in the chart of a terrorist on the day that he blew himself up. It is indicating a moment that the chart's holder considers a happy moment to start a voyage (to whatever). Often with Sun-Jupiter you meet a 'wise person' (a doctor, a priest, a teacher, someone who travelled a lot). The Jupiter transit of Vinas had all the ingredients of Jupiter (a long trip, becoming an international, meeting teachers, living according to your conviction).

Pholus, the symbol of the turning point (or point of no return) hit the most important combination of Sun,Mars and Uranus from 2008 to 2009.
In November 2008 he had transit Pholus conjunct Uranus. Uranus is his most important planet. The transit meant a turning point regarding freedom and independence.
During his arrest and when he admitted his crime in January 2009, transit Pholus was conjunct his natal Sun.
Pholus was sextile his natal Mars and semi square his progressed Mars, indicating a turning point in a battle.

CONCLUSION
When converted persons move to Pakistan there is a potential risk that they want to join radicals. The risk is even higher when a Mars-Uranus combination is of importance in the natal chart. Click for another examples (Jihad Jane, Colleen LaRose.

El Presidente Johan Cruijff

El Financiero reports that Dutch football legend and present coach of Catalunya , Johan Cruijff is now honorary President of FC Barcelona. Here is the chart with progressions and transits. His chart shows why narrow aspects and prominent placements are so important:

Mars is rising before the Sun and inner planet Mercury. That means that Mars is the planet of orientation. Mars is the symbol of sport, drive, energy and activism. In Aries, Mars is strong. Mars is even stronger because of the very narrow trine with Pluto. Mars-Pluto combinations represent the drive to win and intense energy.

When you see that you know enough. This is the chart of a strong man with a lot of energy and drive and he can easily (trine) dominate (Pluto) a fight (Mars). The easy thing in this chart is, that Mars is also the final dispositor of the Midheaven vocational routing and that Pluto is square Midheaven, so that we know that this drive to win is related to a function, a position in socieity, a career perhaps. Need we know more? Well, I’d like to know how he feels now that he is El Presidente. I see that party time is almost there (transit Jupiter square progressed Venus). But what is transit Saturn doing opposition his Venus? Well, let me quote Cruijff:

Jupiter and the wheel of fortune

The case of a woman (born April 26, 1964) who escaped from prison by digging a tunnel to freedom made me think about Jupiter, again, because of her prominent Jupiter and progressed Sun opposition Jupiter right now. (Her chart is below).
Is Jupiter always right and righteous? Well, who am I to judge that, but I can ask questions, can't I? In my opinion, Jupiter is reflecting the wheel of fortune, more than just pure luck. I have several examples to support that.

A transit or progression of Jupiter might help, but sometimes 'being positive' means the end of an athlete's career and sometimes you get a positive identification that is false. Criminals profit from the benefits of Jupiter and good people gracefully die during Jupiter's transits and progressions. So let us face it: Jupiter is NOT always right or seems not be right always. And what is good for one can be bad for another one and vice versa. Jupiter is the helper, the doctor, the judge and the wise man/woman, but they all can make mistakes and misjudge situations. Jupiter is the symbol of horses and horsepower, too, and of exaggeration, arrogance and doing things your way (without considerations for the rest), so that Jupiter has a part in the astrological picture of accidents, too. Sagittarius is the sign of Jupiter and accidents happen more often in Sagittarius, see the post about the investigations of an insurance company. With progressed Sun square Progressed Jupiter Sagittarian Richard Hammond survived a crash: in his case Jupiter helped...(see that post). Everybody said that he was lucky to survive, but would he have considered himself lucky when he crashed? I doubt it.

Yes, sometimes Jupiter makes you happy or hopeful and scream "YES I CAN" when you should be careful and pessimistic and calculate your chances. That is in particular so when you don't have the chart and the circumstances to be happy anyway.
So: beware of Jupiter? Yes, the benefits of Saturn can be more positive in the long term. But that is another story.

MORE EXAMPLES
About the importance of Jupiter in the chart of a priest who is been accused of sexual assaults and still has important fans.

Genarlow Wilson had to spend many months in jail for voluntarily sex with a girl of his age (but not 18 yet). Jupiter was trine his Sun when he was free again (together with Saturn-Uranus indications).

Transit Jupiter conjunct Sun, transit Sun square Jupiter, natal chart with Sun opposition Jupiter...on the day of his arrest, later he was hanged and recently found not guilty: Colin Campbell...

Her progressed Sun is opposition Jupiter in this period of time and Jupiter is the first planet rising before Sun and inner planets Venus and Mercury in her chart. Also, Jupiter is sesquisquare Uranus and in aspect with Mercury (for being inventive). There were also transits of Saturn and Uranus with Mars to accompany her moment of breaking free (and perhaps even more reflections of that moment in a chart with hour of birth), but still...Jupiter is very important in her chart and Jupiter is very important right now. So it the issue of the danger of death (Mars, Saturn and Pluto combination).

Detroit hero Jasper Schuringa and the terrorist

A few weeks ago, on Xmas day, Jasper Schuringa subdued Umar Abdulmutallab, who intended to become a suicide terrorist in an airplane, near Detroit. Read the story here... Above you see the natal and progressed positions with transits for that day for Schuringa. There is no hour of birth for the men, but there is still a lot to see in the positions of their days of birth. Take for example the oriental Jupiter for the hero; he is an international from the very start and becomes famous while travelling. Jupiter is the symbol of the international.

Usually I don't wait to publish such stories, but as I heard that Jasper Schuringa had been taken to a safe house, I did. Now that he is seeking publicity on television where his fellow passengers applaud and thank him (now there is apparantly no more danger for him), I like to tell you what is interesting about the charts involved, even though it happened weeks ago. That is because there is so much to see. It is a story about a lot of Mars! Here you see the positions of Umar with those of Jasper on the outside of the circle:


a. Schuringa has Mars trine Pluto and that is the combination of self defence and/or using force. On the day of the flight transit Pluto was opposition progressed Mars. That is a sort of a trigger aspect that 'hit' his tendency to be brave.
b. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the terrorist, was born December 22, 1986. What he shares with Schuringa are the combinations of Mars-Saturn and Mars-Neptune ( Mars 90 Saturn quintile Neptune; Schuringa has Mars opposition Neptune and semi sesquisquare Saturn). Sharing those kind of aspects are not making a relationship fun:). Mars-Neptune combinations are frequent in the charts of criminals and those who fight them and that is exactly mirroring what happened here.
c. Look at the synastry between them and you see that the same planets are interacting, including the Node. For example: Saturn of Umar is conjunct the Mars of Jasper. See Cafe Astrology about this aspect in synastry and you may understand that Jasper noticed that Umar was afraid. Jasper's Saturn is inconjunct the Mars of Umar, so that they are sharing a Mars-Saturn combination. The complete combination of aspects could be read as a group event related to murder and cancelled ambitions.

Last, but not least: Jasper has the Sun exactly trine Neptune and that is a typical aspect for an idol or a hero (like Elvis for example). More about Sun trine Neptune on this blog...

Chart of John de Mol ('Big Brother') and Quaoar

Pluto is the symbol of money, power and influence. Transit Pluto is now trine the natal Sun of John de Mol, one of the persons on the list of the 50 most influential persons in the world, according to the Financial Times. He is the man behind ‘ Big Brother’. His chart and the family situation/conditions were a perfect mix. This post is about that mix and about Quaoar, the new dwarf planet making an exact square with his Ascendant.

QUAOAR
Quaoar is the symbol of a creative person, able to shape new worlds and...he dances and sings. Isn't that a perfect prominent position for Quaoar in the chart of the man behind the entertainment factory? Transit Quaoar is now in the 21st of Sagittarius and trine his progressed Ascendant. Maybe it is not surprising that Quaoar drew my attention, since that is conjunct vital positions in my natal chart and prorgressed Descendant.

CONDITIONS/SITUATIONS
It is nice to have the chart of an inventive manager, but when you are born in the middle of nowhere you won't become mr. Big Brother. John de Mol's father ran a radio station after he stopped singing. His sister works in the media, too, and is the most successful woman on television. It is all in the family, but it takes skills and the will to succeed to make a success of a given situation. John de Mol succeeded indeed!

TALENTS
His natal chart shows a potential for (artistic and creative) talents, being inventive and working hard with an extra creative talent to make money. Mars 'calling' is 'work calling'. He is a promotor at any possible level and may be a workaholic.

Here you see the chart with 1) a ‘ calling’ Mars (self made, workaholic), 2) an oriental Saturn (business and career first), 3) Venus in aspect with Sun/Moon (motivated by pleasure and entertainment) and on Aries Point (known for this) and 4) a Midheaven in Pisces (field of the media) with Venus<>MR Neptune disposing of the MC (talented), 5) the MC sesquisquare Jupiter and Uranus (inventive, helicopter view). 6) Watch the 160 degree aspect between the most prominent planets of this chart (Mars and Saturn) for rejoicing working hard!

Transit Pluto is nowmirroring a period of being considered an authority.

Uranus and the disaster in Perm (Russia)

Uranus in Pisces, opposition Ascendant, seems to be reflecting the disaster (Uranus) in the dancesaloon annex restaurant (PISCES) filled with 1000 persons and with only one door to escape. Uranus doesn't make major aspects within 5 degrees. That makes Uranus the most important object in this chart for that moment and place in time. It has been taped on video that you can see on YouTube...

I often notice the presence of Uranus on the angles in case of incidents and accidents. With transit Uranus on your Descendant you may expect nervous situations and maybe then you are lucky, even if you are a celebrity like Woods or Gore. Because I have several examples of less fortunate situations and this is one of them. Uranus in a prominent position and in particular on the angles or trine MC, seems to be reflecting a potential for explosive situation or traffic accidents. Or in more ' neutral' terms: it is reflecting the possibility of a sudden inconvenience (at least) that alters the situation (Ascendant) or conditions (MC) rapidly on the given time and place.(Maybe in a natal chart these positions show a sudden birth, perhaps unexpected and preliminary - in the eyes of the baby). Charts of shooting and shooter Fort Hood

Here you see the charts of the moment when the shooting in Fort Hood, Texas started (above, with the natal positions of the shooter on the outside of the circle) and separately the chart with the natal positions of the shooter, Nidal Malik Hasan (below).

SATURN
Just like in the case of the incident on Queen's day (April 30 this year), Saturn had an important role in the chart of the man who caused the tragedy.

-Transit Saturn was opposition the natal Sun of the man who ran his car into the public (on purpose) and it is known now that he planned his suicide and was depressed. He had payed the rent for the last time and had no house after April 30.

- Nidal Malik Hasan has the progressed Sun inconjunct natal and progressed Saturn this year. That is an astrological statement for being out of balance due to a depression and for making a mistake with an important 'lost'. He had cleaned his appartment and given away his Koran.

MARS AND PLUTO
But it was not just a depression, because at the same time he had transit Pluto trine Mars and progressed Mars conjunct Pluto, the comnbination for an act of violence and getting hurt.
At the moment of the incident in Fort Hood the important Mars of the shooter had just been square the local Midheaven and his Pluto was exactly 67.5 degrees from Midheaven (that is a semi square and a half semi square).

The combination of Mars, Saturn and Pluto is the combination of untimely (unnatural) death...

MARS
Mars is very important in the chart of Nidal Malik Hasan. The planet of war and aggression is oriental (= rising before the sun). That is often so in the charts of soldiers, activists and people who act first, think later (or in other words: want to MAKE a statement).

STRONG OPINIONS
The tightest aspect on the day of birth of the shooter is Mercury conjunct Pluto. That aspect is reflecting very strong opinions and possibly stressed ideas. Mercury is trine Saturn (and that is good for scientific studies), so that there is a combination in favor of the strategic (political) mind. This combination is sort of repeated in the combination of Sun in Virgo (ruled by Mercury) and Moon in Scorpio (ruled by Pluto).

LIMITED FREEDOM
Another strong aspect is Saturn sesquisquare Uranus. It is the aspect combination of restricted freedom and trying to break free. STARRING ROLE
According to the wish of the unaspected Sun he has now drawn attention and been in the center of it, but (inconjunction): the bad way. It caused the lives and health of many. Perhaps his individual chart with hour of birth explains more. The day of birth just shows us the possible effect of a depression in the life of a man who is able to shoot and kill.

THE CHARACTER, THE SOCIAL SITUATION AND CIRCUMSTANCES: THE MIX
On the day of his birth, September 6, 1970, there was a mix of ingredients that (in certain circumstances) could create an incident such as in Fort Hood. He had the drive (Mars), the strong determined mind (Mercury and Pluto) and he wanted to give up on the status quo (Sun inconjunct Saturn). Unfortunately he had access to the 'cop killer gun', the Belgian .N. 5.7 mm Herstal. American soldiers can buy them without any problem.

There are even rumours that the shooter was a fundamentalist and his white traditinal clothes on the final day suggest that this might be true. He was very devout and it is said that he couldn't find a matching spous because he had too many conditions. He even refused to be on a picture with women (and now he has been shot down by a police woman, Kimberley Munley...) Maybe that is another effect of the inconjunction.

Little hero with Pluto square her Mars-Jupiter

A Belgian little girl named Fleur had her fifth birthday last Sunday. In the night after her birthday she woke up because the roof was falling down. There was a fire. She took her toy and blanket and went to the bedroom of her parents to wake them up. Now she is a five year old hero!

It is nice to see that on her day of birth Mars was conjunct Jupiter. Mars and Jupiter were rising before the Sun, together. They were 'oriental'. That is reflecting successful action! On her birthday transit Pluto was square Mars-Jupiter. That is how you get a tremendous combination for success (Mars-Jupiter-Pluto). And for danger, that too!

Sonia Sotomayor's day of birth

Sonia Sotomayor will be judged today. Is she the right member for the supreme court or is she a biased judge? Probably the Democrats will grant her her function. Some Republicans fear that she is a racist judge. Sonia Sotomayor was born time unknown on June 25, 1954 (says the Mountain Astrologer) in NY. The chart is the chart of her day of birht, at noon.

ORIENTAL MOON
In her natal chart the Moon is rising before the Sun, at any time of birth. Recently I gave two examples of an oriental Moon in the article about sextiles. One man was responsible for the death of another man and the fact that they belonged to different groups (Muslim and Jew) was important for the event. The oriental Moon shows a strong orientation on your own folks.

VENUS CALLING
Venus is the symbol of the judge (the lady with the balance in her hand). Venus doesn't make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees, so Venus is what I name 'calling'. She is diplomatic and estethic at any possible level.

MARS-SATURN
Mars is sextile Saturn and that almost garanties that she will do as the law tells her to do and work hard to achieve goals. With the Sun trine Saturn she is being respected, too. Unfortunately the opposition between Sun and Mars makes her very competetive and hot headed (see Café astrology)
Perhaps that is the kind of temperament that a poor girl needs to became a supreme judge. The combination of Sun, Mars and Jupiter is a combination for success.

Mars sextile the angular Saturn (for management) in her natal chart is being activated tomorrow, by Mars inconjunct Mars and inconjunct Saturn. This seems to me to 'strike her' and put her down, very unlikely to happen as all expect her to be chosen. Perhaps there will be some attack on her personaly that 'hits' her.

Another interesting observation is the lack of placements in flexible (movable) signs.

The progressed Sun is aspected by transit Jupiter (opposition), Uranus (inconjunction) and Neptune (opposition), perfectly reflecting the tension, the media gossip and the glory. The result seems already known as the Democrats have the majority. And so she realizes another effect of the oriental Moon...The fact that she belongs to a group was not just important in hard times, it is also important now.

Demjanjuk and Uranus rising before the Sun

John Demjanjuk has been found fit enough to face the judge and to remain in a German prison today. That shows us that there is always the chance of the disadvantage of the advantage. The cynical fact is that Uranus is the first outer planet rising in his chart. I have several examples of the beneficial effect of that position of Uranus in the charts of very old persons. Pope Benedict has it (and they thought that he would be an 'interim' Pope:).

John Demjanjuk is 89 years old. Had he died 10 years ago, than he would not have been forced to spend the last years of his life in another country, away from his family. He is in Germany because German authorities issued an arrest warrant. He will be on trial for 29,000 counts of murder (most of them Dutch jews) as a guard at the Sobibor death camp from March to September 1943 (source CNN).

BTW In his progressed chart Venus is conjunct Sun. In normal circumstances that would be a pleasure. At his age and given the situation the 'grace' and 'peace' of Venus could be eternal rest, being pardonned because of his age or any other effect that makes life better. Unless the prison in Germany is already better than in the USA...in which case he might live even longer.
