UK Elections, Transit Uranus-progressed Sun and Saturn in 12

On May 7 there are general elections in the UK. It may be hard to form a government as the number of seats required doesn't match with the number of seats of any party in the polls. The conservatives of David Cameron are still number 1 in the polls, today, but they will need a partner. So, David Cameron could win, and still loose. And Milliband can win and never enter Downing Street. At least, that is what I understand about it. It explains the complicated picture in their charts. There is, however, one thing about their charts that makes me very interested in the results of the elections. That is this. 

When David Cameron won in 2010, his progressed Sun was exactly trine transit Uranus. Now, in 2015 the progressed Sun of Ed Milliband will be exactly sextile transit Uranus!

Does it mean who wins and moves into Downing Street 10? Or is a Uranus transit a real surprise? And are trines better than sextile are? We will know it on May 8!

Stuff for study! 

So I started to have a look at the charts of Cameron and Milliband and here I tell you what I found.

Even though Ed Milliband’s chart is B rated and David Cameron’s is A rated, that doesn’t mean that he will be second in the electionsJ. 

WHAT will tell us who will win the elections? 

I compared the charts and noticed that David Cameron has a stronger profile for a leader than Ed Milliband, who is more an ideologist. The transits and progressions of both reveal stress, pressure and tension right now, and that is understandable. 

CAMERON

It seems that Mr. Cameron forgot to please the growing number of people suffering from the financial and economic crisis. Maybe they take their revenge on May 7? Let’s see about the charts. I ‘did’ David Cameron’s chart before and noted:

- Sun is 'calling' (not making major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees)That is reflecting leadership (drawing attention at any possible level)- Mars is 'calling' too and so is JupiterThe combination of these 3 prominent placements points at successes. 

 OK, he became PM and that is about the highest position a civilian male can get.

MILLIBAND
Now how about Ed Milliband? Here is his chart (December 24, 1969, 14:00 hours in London) with transits and progressions for May 7 2015.

He has Neptune rising before the Sun for the ideology (socialism, in this case) and a Capricorn Sun exactly trine Saturn, accompanied by a ‘calling’ Mercury. This mirrors a serious communicating man of hierarchy and state, especially because of his Capricorn Midheaven. Then we get to the house ruler X: Saturn. With Capricorn on MC and Saturn in 12 we seem to have a problem. But is that so?

The 12th house is not supposed to be a pleasant position for Saturn as this is seen so often in the charts of inmates. However, as almost 1/12^th of the people has a 12^th house Saturn, there must be another interpretation.  CafeAstrology mentions ‘plagued with guilt’ and ‘escapism’ and that doesn’t sound good either. IndianAstrology says that with Saturn in 12 you might be afraid of life itself! However, this didn’t stop George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Jacques Chirac and Vladimir Putin  to become the number 1 of the nation! 

So let me interpret Saturn in 12 like this: you are the manager or in control behind the scenes and one of the best pro secret service agentsJ. I see the 12^th house as the house of the media (everything that includes an image and a certain distance from real life out there). With Saturn in that house you can be a professional mediagenic person. So, Saturn in 12 doesn’t mean that he won’t be MP. On the contrary.

Now let’s compare the charts of both.

David Cameron’s Sun-Mars-Jupiter prominence shows a lot of energy and drive and chances of success. Ed Milliband’s chart only has a prominent Mercury in the natal chart. Will communicating skills be able to win?

Both have Out of Bounds Moons, but the Moon of Milliband is more 'out of bounds' than Cameron's is. 

Interesting is the synastry between the candidates: the Sun of Milliband is opposition the Midheaven of David Cameron (he shines when the status of Cameron is involved)? The progressed Sun of Cameron is inconjunct the progressed Ascendant (if that IS the Pr Asc!) of Milliband. 

The synastry doesn’t reveal much about the results, but in my country the press mentions that Cameron’s rather good results in the field of economy are overshadowed by the fact that he forgot about the natural followers of Labour…But will he win?

ELECTION DAY

Let’s see about the transits and progressions!

On election day, Pluto (for politics, power and pressure) is all around.

1. David Cameron has transit Pluto exactly square the natal Sun.

There is also transit Saturn inconjunct his natal Midheaven. That is a very difficult aspect. I have seen this transit before, when people fell off their pedestal or lost their position.  But let me remind you of Obama, winning with heavy bad Saturn transits: they were related to the family.

2.  Pluto is pretty close to the supposed to be (B rated birth data actually means: unsure) MC of Milliband. 

He also has a frustrating and painful Sun semi square Chiron in the progressed chart, exactly (!) and there is in a Saturn inconjunct Saturn period of life (when you have to let go of certain ambitions). 

Both have their problems. Charts don’t ‘predict a winner. 

TRANSIT URANUS - PROGESSED SUN

There is an interesting similarity that is worth studying.  

In the chart of Cameron in May 2010 - when his party won - he had progressed Ascendant square Jupiter. That was also with transit Uranus exactly trine his progressed Sun. 

Now Milliband has transit Uranus exactly sextile Progressed Sun...! And if he was born just 5 minutes later, his progressed MC will be trine Jupiter.

So after May 7 we will know if the harmonious aspect of transit Uranus with progressed Sun means that positive change (and winning!)

(Just thinking: One of the things that leaders in the USA and UK have to face when they win or loose is, that they have to move out of the house. That is stress, that is change and that is suddenly. Very Uranus!)

MORE TO CONSIDER

For a better check, I tried to include the MC of the final moment on Election Day, but there is nothing much to see except that the Moon of that moment is in aspect with the Jupiter’s of both men. Maybe at that time it's still unknown who wins and both are still full of hope.

I also wonder what it means that they both have an angular Ixion in their Solar Return charts. Should this indicate the prominent theme of guests and hosts and ‘the bad guys’? Or does it mean that they point at each other for that? And Cameron has a SR with Sun opposition Uranus (...) AND Mars trine Jupiter, exactly. While Milliband's SR has a perfect trine between MC and Jupiter. 

In June, Ed Milliband will have Jupiter inconjunct his MC and David Cameron's Progressed MC wil receive a trine from Jupiter. 

Very confusing!

SO...

Well, we’ll see it on May 7. There is no real victorious happy aspect, only Pluto for Politics and Power struggle. And as Europe is in charge in many ways, it doesn’t make much difference who wins, I’d say. Except for the persons and parties involved, of course…The fact that Milliband has the same kind of transit/progression as Cameron had in 2010 makes me think that Labor has a better chance. But it is a transit of Uranus and you know Uranus...Uranus is the symbol of a surprise and of sudden change and... of nerves. Uranus transit won't tell us what kind of a change it will be until it is time.

Hillary Clinton, Mars-Pluto, Neptune, Mercury-Saturn and elections 2016

Yesterday, I looked at the charts of children who died within 3 days in a fire, and I decided not to publish about it because I can imagine the pain of the parents, still. This week I was studying the chart of an executioner (born August 17, 1988) and I had found the same aspect combination in his chart as in the charts of the children. He has Mars inconjunct Pluto (and Pluto semi square Saturn, by the way, to complete the combination of untimely death). They had Mars square Pluto (and one of these 2 on an angle). Mars-Pluto aspects add stress to work and action and danger to acts. It is also an aspect that symbolizes a strong drive to win (at any cost) and to (have to) defend or protect yourself. In politics it means that there is always a strong (and sometimes dangerous) competition to deal with. Hillary Clinton faces problems now, in March 2015.

Hillary Clinton has Mars conjunct Pluto in her chart. This aspect is square Venus.
That means intense (Pluto) passion (Venus and Mars). It is the combination of the item of the use and abuse of force, influence or violence (Mars-Pluto) and the money issue (Venus-Pluto). Or a passion (Venus-Mars) for politics, that, too. See the number of examples (just click the label 'Venus Mars Pluto'). There is also a danger in Mars-Pluto (injuries, enemies and ... difficulties with men).

Fact: I read that her husband Bill has a mistress and that he refuses to stop the affair so that his wife has a better chance to become the next president of the USA. That is rather difficult. So is divorce. How about a female President without a husband in 2016? International Women's Day is not celebrated because there is no need to improve women's positions. It is crazy, but a female President with a cheating husband seems to do better in the polls. And her (wide) Venus square Saturn maybe helps her to stick to her man. Quoting my own blog 'Astrology&Love'):

Just an observation: Hillary Clinton has a tight conjunction of Mars and Pluto. Bill Clinton's Mars is angular and Pluto rises right before his Sun. That shows the importance of their political (Pluto) activities (Mars) for both of them. 

and

Bill and Hillary don’t match, at least: their signs don’t match. Their long lasting relationship is exceptional, also in astrological terms. It is a relationship between two very ambitious political strategists and idealists who joined forces. You can see that: there is a minor aspects between their Mars, a septile. Septiles have to do with inspirations.What Bill does inspires Hillary and vice versa. Even their competition is inspiring to them. 

Oh well, that is what is to be expected with Mars quintile Mars. We only see the outside of the relationship, so we can't be sure, can we? We can't even be sure about her hour of birth. Here is the possible chart (source is Astrodatabank, telling us we can't be sure...):

MERCURY-SATURN for limited communications.
Last week the newspapers reported about Hillary's emails not being sent the correct way while she worked for Obama. Any correspondence is ruled by Mercury, in astrology, and hers is on the Ascendant (if Astrodatabank is correct about her hour of birth), so very important. Saturn - the planet of timing- is exactly square that Mercury so it took some time for the email problem to 'emerge', exactly now that she plans to launch herself as a candidate for the presidency.
It probably won't stop her. She has a strong drive (Mars for drive joining Pluto for force). And Mercury-Saturn isn't bad for politics at all. Her Scorpio Mercury square Saturn is perfect for the politician who uses a communication strategy (which means not telling to much or before it has maximum effect).

There is more in her chart that helps to win elections. Her Moon 112.5 d Jupiter is a help to get support (though it won't be too easy). And how about that 'calling' Jupiter and Sun? FUTURE
Within a year from now (and that is long enough before the elections of 2016) her progressed Sun will be square Neptune and that is bad. It means negative press, scandal and disillusion (dreams not coming true). I don't know in what period of the pre-elections this is and if it will hurt her. Because on November 6, 2016 there are more than 3 good signs in her chart.
1. Transit Jupiter will be square her Sun/Moon and
2. transit Jupiter will be square Progressed Sun and
3. her Progressed Sun is then conjunct her Sun/Moon.
4. Also, transit Jupiter will be square her Mercury
5. and Progressed Sun will be conjunct her Mercury).

That sounds like success or being happy (anyway:).

There is a nice future ahead of Hillary Clinton, but she will have to make it through the secondary progressed Sun square Neptune periode that, if I am not mistaken, started already with the revelations about her private email account being used while she was Secretary of State, with all the risks involved (thinking of Mars-Pluto) and with all the possible doubts and rumors (Neptune!). The best way to deal with negative press and rumors is to keep things clear and open and have no secrets to reveal...The former First Lady has a Scorpio Sun and a Pisces Moon and is likely to be very discrete with this combination.

DOES THE CHART SHOW A PRESIDENT?
There is a 'Presidential potential' (see http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2010/10/leader-in-chart-of-hillary-clinton.html )
 but as always conditions, circumstances, gender, age and (in politics) the attraction of the others make the difference. Just like the Mars inconjunct Pluto aspect in the chart of the executioner doesn't mean that all born with that aspect will become an emotionless killer, the potential in a chart is not predictive. The fact that she is a top politician with influence and many supporters AND the wife of a former President, is the difference between her chart and that of all those who where born on her day of birth, like:

• 1947 – Ricardo Asch, Argentinian gynecologist and endocrinologist (unethical practices in a fertility clinic and attempts to send him out of Mexico in 2010); Jupiter! (calling, for the international)
• 1947 – Ian Ashley, German-English race car driver (dangerous job: racing driver and pilot - had severe crashes); Jupiter! (calling, for the international)
• 1947 – Reg Empey, Irish businessman and politician, Lord Mayor of Belfast (life peer in the House of Lords, no longer active)
• 1947 – Trevor Joyce, Irish poet and scholar (classical Chinese poetry, too); Jupiter! (calling, for the international)

I wonder in what way Progressed Sun square Neptune  and the lucky aspects with Jupiter in the autumn of 2016 will manifest in their charts...It will be different. They don't want to have the number 1 position in Western politics.

To win elections or not, and astrology

This post is about the progressions, transits and solar return of the charts of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney on Election day and what they tell us about winning or not. The picture was quite clear considering the fact that there are 75% positive transits and progressions for Obama and more than 50% difficult transits and progressions for Romney. An important role is for the trine (for Obama) and the inconjunct or quincunx (for Romney).

As it takes two to compete, here is the list of aspects for both candidates. Important periods in life are almost always marked by a lot of transits and progressions... 

OBAMA's TRANSITS AND PROGRESSIONS
There is no glory in Obama's chart. He  won another 4 years but there are no easy times coming up. Here you see what transits and progressions where valid during Election day. 
1. The progressed Sun's first aspect after changing sign was a trine with Jupiter. It is a sign of prosperity and a fotunate start of a decade. For someone who wants to win elections, it is a positive signal.
2 Jupiter was on Midheaven in the solar return chart (in Washington) for a happy birthday and hope for the year to come.
3. Transit Quaoar still trine Progressed Ascendant shows new perspectives.
4. Transit Mars trine Progressed Ascendant refers to action. Together Mars and Quaoar find it easy to cooperate in order to create a new horizon.
5. Obama's chart has good relations with Sirius, also on Election day. Sirius is the symbol of high office.
6. His natal Sun was right in the middle of midpoint Venus/Jupiter (a party!) on Election Day

but also:
7. Transit Pluto opposition Sun/Moon midpoint is about challenges and problems to overcome (including a lot of stress, like with elections). Things won't be easy. Transit Pluto will be opposition progressed Sun/Moon soon...
8. The progressed Moon in Aries was square progressed MC for emotions (and showing them!) 

!The nasty transit of retrograding (!) Neptune inconjunct progressed Sun will be back, but on Election Day there was more than 1,5 degree orb. The negative influence of Neptune wasn't valid on Election Day! Neptune refers to negative press and more...(More about the Neptune transit here.)

Sum: There is a majority of positive signs. Six out of the 8 mentioned transits and progressions were of a positive nature.

ROMNEY's TRANSITS AND PROGRESSONS
Now what shows the chart of Mitt Romney? He had a lot of votes, but he lost. See the list:

1. Progressed Moon in Libra sesquisquare Jupiter and semisquare progressed Mercury, with P Mercury opposition Jupiter: that is a sign of a successful but also frustrating period. This is the only positive sign. There is increasing popularity and successHowever, sesquisquare says 'not yet' and semi square says 'not now', while opposition means ??? (question marks).

2. The Progressed Sun is not yet trine Pholus and it will take two years until P Sun opposition Jupiter: it is too soon for a positive turning point in life. Maybe his life will be better in two years, but not now...
3. Progressed Mars will be inconjunct Jupiter within a few months: successful action with a loss involved. 
4.Transit Node inconjunct (2nd quincunx!) Venus: a sympathizing group, but... A loss involved
Jupiter and Venus sound good, but in conjuncts aren't easy...

There were difficult aspects, too:
5. Transit Pholus opposition Uranus: unexpected turn
6. Transit Saturn square Progressed Saturn, after square natal Satun: that is refering to the nasty sides of age (memento mori)
7. Transit Neptune square Ascendant (orb less than 1 degree) warns for deception. Neptune is the planet above the circle.
8. The progressed chart of Mitt Romney has MC square Sirius

Sum: a majority of difficult or not so good aspects and only one positive (but frustrating) aspect. 

WHY DID OBAMA WIN?
From an astrological point of view (and IMHO) because of two main reasons:
A. No inconjuncts  for Obama (quincunxes/inconjunctions show loss and loss of balance. You are better off without them); 2 for Romney
B. No trines for Romney; at least one for Obama (the trine enables things)


Romney had a lot of votes, but not enough (in the key states)
From the list you can see that it was no easy win for Obama.

I never forget to mention: time, culture, conditions, situations, so here the list is, again. It is always harder to loose if you are a President already. It will take more nasty aspects than Barack Obama had. And better than Romney had...It is a crazy idea that the results of the elections in 2012 could be 'seen' in 2010, even before the voters left their homes . What could have changed this future? Only a candidate with a better 'winning' chart...


PS ABOUT SYNASTRY OBAMA-ROMNEY
Apparently, when someone's Pluto is opposition your Mars, it is harder to win, because the other has authority, is stronger or resists. Obama's Pluto is opposition Romney's Mars. The fact that there is a narrow aspect between Obama's Pluto and Romney's Mars points at the drive to win, for both of them, in a joined competition.

Sirius, election day and Obama's progressed chart

Looking back at my 2010 post about Obama and about the 2012 elections, I read what I wrote about fixed star Sirius again. I almost forgot that the fixed star Sirius is opposition the Progressed Midheaven of Barack Obama in this period of Presidency. During the first year of his office, transit Sirius passed the progressed meridian.

Sirius, if culminating, means 'high office'*) and being the President of the USA is perhaps the highest office in the world. Sirius is opposition MC, and that is the opposite of culminating. Barack Obama IS the President. Perhaps it is enough to hit the meridian...

ELECTIONS AND SIRIUS
Here is the progressed chart of November 6, 2012 when transit Sun is trine Sirius, a perfect day to see who will be the next one in 'high office'. In fact, transit Sun was trine Sirius every Presidential election day of the past century and trine everybody's Sirius. Barack Obama's progressed Midheaven also 'hits' that trine.

 Sirius is the 'dog star' (think of Sirius Black in Harry Potter: he sometimes appeared as a dog). When Barack Obama entered the White House, he was given ... a dog (called Bo, B-arack O-bama). Time will tell if transits and progressions go bye. It will be November 6 soon.

Elections in Spain

This is the chart of Prime Minister Zapatero (Spain). On Sunday November20 2011 there are elections in Spain and as you see in the chart drawing: this is not the best moment for him. The polls are not in his favor. And Transit Saturn is exactly opposition Midheaven in the Astro.com AA rated chart! Saturn means 'endings' or let's say: finito. And Midheaven is the point in the chart that is reflecting your social position. His main opponent, Mariano Rajoy has transit Pluto now square the natal Sun and that is a challenging aspect, showing stress in an intense period of change. The problems that he will be facing if he wins, are indeed a challenge.

Donald Trump for president? About Pluto in his chart.

Donald Trump announced that he is considering to be the Republican nominee for the presidency in 2012 and that he might spend $200 million dollar in order to win the elections. When Pluto is ‘calling’ in’ a chart (and when you have enough money to spend) it is hard to resist the call for power.

Pluto is the symbol of power, strategy, manipulation, influence, force and …politicis. Pluto doesn’t make a major aspect in sign or orb 5 degrees in the natal chart of Donald Trump. That means that Pluto will be manifested at any level, somehow, anyhow. His Pluto is square the Taurus Midheaven. It is a sort of a vocation to resonate Pluto in the career. His objective (Midheaven) is ‘to have’ (Taurus). Taurus is the money sign, related to the second house of money. Pluto is related to the 8^th house of values. The combination of 2-8 and Venus-Pluto is the money axis. In the chart of Donald Trump there are no planets, sun or moon in earth signs. The absence of positions in earth signs creates a ‘call’ for material security. That is the driving force behind Donald Trump. With Jupiter semisesquisquare (67.5d) Pluto the planet of growth and successes joins the drive. But he has been poor, too…Continue for the chart and  more...

Barack Obama and the November 2 elections

This is the progressed chart of President Obama on Election day November 2, 2010, when the Americans choose their members of the House of Representatives. The result of the election is important for the presidency and for the Obama administration. If the Democrats fail to win, the President will become a lame duck. The importance of that day is visible in the progressed chart of Obama. I have said before,that the 'president in the chart' is more visible in the progressed chart than it is in the natal chart. (Obama 'grew' into his position and status.)

On November 2, 2010 the progressed Descendant is conjunct Quaoar: sunset for new realities? It might be read as the creation of a new situation. Either he wins with a great majority or he looses a lot, but there will be a major change.

That doesn't seem to effect his position for the next presidential election of 2012. That is with the fixed star Sirius opposition progressed Midheaven and after Sun trine Jupiter. Unless he is being forced to step back earlier and unless that there is a better candidate, he is likely to be re-elected anyway. He will start the next episode of 30 years in prosperity (positively). This progressions offers opportunities for growth, travelling, international affairs and happiness in general.

The leader in the chart of Hillary Clinton

The hour of birth of Hillary Clinton is still a well kept secret and Astrodatabank rates this 8:02 a.m. chart as DD: that means that the data are questionable. So what can we rely on when we look at this chart for the day of birth? Her Astro I.D. shows a prominent Sun (for leadership) and a dito Jupiter (for the international). Even without hour of birth we see the basics of success and confidence. Her individual chart and character, her situation and conditions, the historical/cultural context, the progressed chart and transits and lest but not least her marriage to Bill Clinton...this all contributed to the development of Hillary Clinton.

1. We see that the Sun doesn't make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degress and is quintile Saturn. 

That is for the star, the leader and creative manager, drawing attention and being in the center of it somehow...

2. We can be certain that Neptune is the first outer planet rising before the very prominent Sun. 

It means that there is an idealistic approach always and that she doesn't just do 'it' for gain.

3. Jupiter is also ' calling' for the international that she is today.

With reference to the post about the elections in Australia,and with many thanks for the mail:) here is the possible chart of Julia Eileen Gillard WITH hour of birth (according to a friend of her mother she was born at noon).  

A birth around noon with Uranus in the ninth house would be in line with the fact that she was born in a Baptist family and says not to believe in a god. Uranus in the ninth is often the indication for another religion or belief than the parents had.

HOW ABOUT YOUR CHART CORRECTION?

A corrected chart is a chart with an estimated hour of birth based upon the correspondence between events in an individual's life, transits and progression. When there is no hour of birth available for you, you could give it a try to find a possible hour of birth. Personally, I have an offical hour of birth and my mother;s time (just 3 minutes later). I have tried to find the exact minute a few times and I ended with possible hours of birth between 12:25 and 12:45. The official time is in the middle:)! 

AND THE CHART RATING ON ASTRODATABANK?

A lot of charts of VIP's are corrected or estimated charts. (Sometimes you can recognize corrected hours of birth by the minutes and seconds). That is why the work of Astrodatabank to find the true hour of birth and mention the source or controversy is so valuable and appreciated. 

For example the chart of Joan of Arc, that is a DD-rated chart. An AA-rated chart is one with birth certificate in hand (like Barack Obama's chart:). A DD-rated chart has a date that is not verified. Always check the rating to see if you can use the chart as a tool for understanding and learning about transits and progressions! 

Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott: authority and rebellion

There is no clear result after the elections in Australia, where the (left wing) socialist Gillard and the (right wing) liberal Abbott were trying to become the next Prime Minister. The result of the elections is that the keys are in the hand of smaller parties, like the Green and that it takes more than one party for a government. The transits and progressions are almost just as unclear. The hours of birth of the candidates are unknow, too.

Julia Gillard is the PM of Australia and she has the chart of the authority. Her time unknown chart reveals why she is a politician. Pluto is prominent. On her day of birth Pluto, the planet of strategy, power,influence, money and politics, was rising before the Sun (in other words: Pluto was oriental or orientational if you like). That also means that she seems to know the right persons...and to be 'playing chess', like having elections at the right moment:).
If she was born in the late afternoon or evening (later than 14:00 hours), the Sun would be 'calling' and indicate leadership and drawing attention, somehow, anyhow*). Progressed Midheaven inconjunct transit Saturn and Gordon Brown has now resigned. In August/September he will also step back as the leader of the Labour Party. The inconjunction of Saturn ment lost and stepping back.

Closing time Election day chart

The polls are open until 10 p.m. Previously I tought it was at 19:00 hours, but that was wrong. So here is the true chart of the UK Elections closing time (Times Online says it is 10 p.m.).

The suns or progressed Suns of the party leaders are all in aspect with the MC of closing time (30th degree of Virgo). The progressed Suns of Liberal Nick Clegg (on the edge of Aquarius and Pisces) and Labour Gordon Brown (in the last degree of Aries) are inconjunct (quincunx) the Virgo MC. The progressed Sun of Conservative David Cameron (in the final degree of Scorpio) is sextile the MC. It is peculiar that all three have the Sun in the final degree of a sign (reflecting a changing life style). Their Progresed Suns are afflicting each others P Sun and that is in line with their positions. Nick Clegg and Gordon Brown should perhaps work together after the elections and their progressed Suns are sextile (Aries and Aquarius), a rather soft combination. The progressed Sun of David Cameron is square Gordon Brown's and inconjunct Nick Clegg's. Squares and inconjunctions are hard aspects.

Gordon Brown and the Elections of May 6, 2010

The chart below is the natal chart of Gordon Brown with transits and progressions of Election day (May 6, 2010). On September 30, 2009 when it was expected that the elections would be in June, I wrote about the astrological situation and that prognosis hasn't changed. The past few months I have been especially interested in Pholus and now I like to add that transit Pholus is sesquisquare his progressed Sun. That is reflecting a turning point in life. As his progressed Sun sign is changing, another way of living is to be expected (his life style is changing). The third sign of change comes from the transit of Pluto on his natal Midheaven. Third time lucky is not the case...
A chart is hardly needed when there are polls, but still: the correspondence between the polls and the astrological positions is interesting. Now let us wait and see what happens...

There are more and more signs that Gordon Brown will loose the elections and that he will have to get used to another life style, just like his progressed Sun (changing sign!) tells us that he will. The smoker in Obama's chart

Barack Obama is not able to quit smoking up to now, but he promised not to smoke in the White House (in order not to make it the Grey House, I suppose).
What in his chart shows the addicted smoker? In short: Neptune on top and the Moon opposition MC and in Gemini (sign of the lungs) and Mars semi square Neptune... But there is help on the way!

1. Neptune is the planet of vision, fantasy and ideology. But it is also the planet of mist, smoke and addiction. Tobacco came from the Native Americans. They smoked a pipe as a symbol or ritual in their religion.
Neptune is not only on top of this chart. Neptune is also square the Sun in Leo. Barack Obama should consider his health and stop to keep his hearth and veins in order. But he cannot.

2. The Moon is the symbol of needs and habits. There are prominent needs in a chart with a prominently placed Moon. This Moon is also square Pluto, intensifying needs and habits. It is strange that a person in control cannot control his needs, but he is not the only one.

3. Mars semi square Neptune illustrates a drive that 'goes to far'. Any addiction is overacting.

Now we have 3 good astrological reasons for smoking. I can even find a fourth one in the crucial placement of Ceres (nutrition and food, seeds and grain) square the ASC.

But are there tools for ending an addiction too? I know that I quit with Jupiter transiting my Ascendant. Obama will see Jupiter on his Ascendant end of March 2009. A perfect moment to give it a try and feel real good about it because Jupiter helps you do what is good for you. And Jupiter makes you grow weight, of course.
Will anybody pass him the message please?:)
