Gordon Brown and the Elections
of May 6, 2010

The chart below is the natal chart of Gordon Brown with transits and progressions of Election day (May 6, 2010). On September 30, 2009 when it was expected that the elections would be in June, I wrote about the astrological situation and that prognosis hasn't changed. The past few months I have been especially interested in Pholus and now I like to add that transit Pholus is sesquisquare his progressed Sun. That is reflecting a turning point in life. As his progressed Sun sign is changing, another way of living is to be expected (his life style is changing). The third sign of change comes from the transit of Pluto on his natal Midheaven. Third time lucky is not the case...
A chart is hardly needed when there are polls, but still: the correspondence between the polls and the astrological positions is interesting. Now let us wait and see what happens...

Here is what I blogged before. I quote:
There are more and more signs that Gordon Brown will loose the elections and that he will have to get used to another life style, just like his progressed Sun (changing sign!) tells us that he will. The combination of transit Pluto on Midheaven and Progressed Midheaven inconjunct Saturn is at least a difficult one. There is stress (Pluto) and there is a big chance of losing status (inconjunction with Saturn). Saturn-Pluto-combinations in politics often reflect the hard sides of politics. Falling down is a hard thing. And there are no helping transits whatsoever
.
Unless a miracle happens, Labour will see of lot of the voters switch to another party.

Here are a few of the posts about Gordon Brown, who managed to make a big mistake yesterday when he insulted a lady who voted for Labour before. Here is the link to the posts with ‘Gordon Brown’ in the text: http://astropost.blogspot.com/search?q=gordon+brown

And here are some of the posts strictly about Gordon Brown and the elections.

ASTROLOGY CHART OF GORDON BROWN:
And about his Saturn square MC
(just like George W. Bush)

The position of Gordon Brown has not been easy from the start and is even uneasier today. His natal Saturn, ruler MC, square MC seems to have the same effect on him and his nation as Saturn square MC has in the chart of George W. Bush. Like GWB he manages to remain in function. And like George W. Bush he managed to be in charge of a nation. How did he manage? And will he step back? If he does, he will do so in good conditions. A vital change might save his position, but: there are always ‘but’s’ and ‘however’s’ in the chart and life of Gordon Brown.

On the 17th May 2007 , when he became a prime Miniser, I wrote about Gordon Brown:

"His Sun is inconjunct Saturn in his chart and I wonder if that is a good position for a man in charge. His ambitions might not catch up with his health or he cannot combine leadership with administrations and control. He is first of all a man with ideals (Neptune is oriental) and his calling Jupiter will make him want to travel, publish and 'be international'. Mars is now opposition Saturn and at the same time semi sextile the Sun in his chart and sesquisquare Pluto soon. It seems there is a hard struggle going on or a lot of work to do. At the same time Jupiter is making a trine with Progressed Pluto and square to Progressed Nodes. Pluto on the other hand is square his Progressed Jupiter. It is easy to see the successful combination of Jupiter, Pluto and Nodes (the party). Gordon Brown was born in Edinburgh on 20th February 1951".

On May 2, 2008 I continued:

Now I know that he was born at 8:40 a.m. in Giffnock.
And now there are serious doubts about his abilities and transit Saturn is opposition the natal Sun (activating the Inconjunction of Sun and Saturn in his birth chart). Also the progressed Midheaven (changed sign seven months ago) is about to make contact with the Sun inconjunct Saturn (end of August till in October).
His progressed Sun sign will change in about two years time and again there will be (progressed) Sun inconjunct Saturn a year later.

OBSERVATIONS OF TODAY
Today, Gordon Brown seems to be in even more serious political trouble and he lacks support. His natal, progressed and transits at fist sight seem to be contradicting the reports in the papers. We see Progressed MC conjunct Sun. Transit Jupiter and transit Pluto are on either side of the natal Midheaven (Transit Jupiter/Pluto = MC).

Progressed MC conjunct Sun however is, due to the natal Inconjunction of Sun and Saturn, also a progressed MC inconjunct Saturn! I guess that there must have been and still are ‘but’s ‘and ‘however’s’ in the life of Brown, always. Yet, he became a prime Minster. Let us keep that in mind. Saturn is the dispositor of his Midheaven and square Midheaven. Saturn is opposition Aries Point. Brown is very ambitious…His Jupiter is calling (not making major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees) and Neptune is oriental. The angular Uranus is crucial. We see 4 very important planets in his natal chart: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Transit Jupiter is now inconjunct natal Moon, so that he will experience support, eh…but…not without however’s and but’s.

JUPITER AND PLUTO
It is funny that just like in May 2007 he is helped by Jupiter and Pluto, now. Today, those two planets are in opposition with Uranus on the IC. In other words: Uranus = MC = transit Jupiter/Pluto. That is a combination for successful changes of the status quo. And maybe a complete transformation is what he needs to save his position. Another possibility is that he manages to step back under very fortunate conditions.

SATURN SQUARE MC LIKE GEORGE W. BUSH
Gordon Brown seems to know how to survive crisis with the help of supporters in the party. But with Saturn square Midheaven in his natal chart he has the same difficulty as George W. Bush has in his chart and the disadvantages of the top position are clear for both. And that makes his period in government a difficult one, not only for himself, but also for the people. The chart of a leader, of the man in charge, is important for the situation of the people who depend on his successes. In modern times less than in the middle ages, but still...

The chart you see was produced on the site of www.astro.com

PS October 4: Gordon Brown rearranged his team...See under 'Jupiter and Pluto'... he did it again!

Sun inconjunct Saturn (like Gordon Brown)

When I read about Gordon Brown and his complaining staff, I remembered his natal Sun inconjunct Saturn. This inconjunction is about finding balance (inconjunction) between you and your position and life/lifestyle, however high or low, free or restricted, short or long it may be. And sometimes that is hard to do.

TRANSIT
Sun inconjunct Saturn in transit is the reflection of your position when this is no longer in a straight line. It is reflecting you when you are not in the position that you should have at that moment in time. Something starts pulling your back or you miss the proper skates for the thin ice. There also seems to be no balance between what you did and what you got.
That is when you start falling, break a hip or get depressed and/or exasperated. That is when your staff starts complaining about you, if you are a manager. And that is when you and your boss are not in line about your career, too. This aspect - in transit - easily brings you out of balance because of demands, debts, obligations, punishment or a nasty manager. Most of us survive several inconjunctions of transit Saturn (though we might not easily forget them and the effect might be longlasting).

PROGRESSION
The progressed Sun inconjunct Saturn is a different story. You sort of slowly glide into the wrong position. You have to take care not to go down hill when your progressed Sun is inconjunct Saturn and watch your health.

NATAL
In a natal chart the effect of Sun inconjunct Saturn is sometimes even harder. You might have to learn to live with a depressing restriction, lost or tragedy. There is always a 'but' with an inconjunction, but sometimes it is hard to find consolation and compensation, because it is a heavy (Saturn) lost (inconjunction) or a heavy load to carry, like the responsibilities of parenthood.

GORDON BROWN
I am afraid that Sun inconjunct Saturn is not the most desired aspect and that is an understatement. You are lucky if it is being compensated by more fortunate and pleasant reminders of the bright side of life. (Gordon Brown has a 'calling' Jupiter (without major aspects). A calling Jupiter is the symbol of positivism at any possible level. Maybe that helps him. But it apparently doesn't help his staff right now:).

Gordon Brown has his progressed Midheaven inconjunct Saturn in the 6th house. That seems to be a perfect moment to encourage his staff to tell the world about his bad sides. (Yes, it is election time!)

Gordon Brown has Sun inconjunct Saturn in the natal chart. Gordon Brown lost a prematurely born daughter and one of his two sons has cystic fibrosis, all from 2002 on. This, he said, changed him and his wife. Here is his chart.

Check your ephemeris and remember what was going on during the transit of Saturn 150 degrees from your Sun or Midheaven. Maybe that is when you had the position of a lame duck or you were supposed to be number one and in the end you didn’t (you lost), like Susan Boyle's finale .

(HEAVY) EXAMPLES
Here below you see 2 more examples of Sun inconjunct Saturn in the natal chart amd 7 examples of the effect of Sun-Saturn inconjunctions in transits and progression. Of course, those are pretty heavy examples. Often 'all' that you will notice is a promotion being denied because you and your management have different levels in mind. Or you have to give up something that gave you status (and you had to move to a smaller office or buy a cheaper car or house). And if you get a promotion with this aspect, beware! There might be a disadvantage that weighs more than you think it will do. You might have to give up on some important thing in life or lifestyle and you might regret this later.
My advice: in order not to fall hard, keep a low level and beware of thin ice!

NATAL SUN INCONJUNCT SATURN
1. Gordon Brown

2. Amanda Knox has a natal inconjunction between Sun and Saturn. She faces years in prison.

3. A Norwegian young man, see Wikipedia and the comment on the post of Amanda Knox, convicted to death in Congo

PROGRESSIONS AND TRANSITS
And here are 7 examples of the effect of Sun-Saturn inconjunctions in transits and progressions:

1. Skater Gretha Smit (1976.01.26) had transit Saturn inconjunct progressed Sun, when newspapers revealed an accusation about trying to buy a starting place from a Polish skater (the accusation is being investigated).
2. Sportsman Franck Vandenbroucke (1074.11.06) died in the year after P Sun inconjunct P Saturn.
3. Miep Gies, see the post died at age 100, after falling during transit Saturn inconjunct Sun.
4. An important Dutch statesman had transit Saturn inconjunct Sun when he was forced to step back after signing fraudulous declarations (of another politician).
5 and 6. Elizabeth and Josef Fritzl when the trial started: t Saturn inconjunct natal Sun. See the charts and posts of the Fritzl case: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/05/charts-and-post-of-fritzl-case.html
7. A Dutch football player (soccer) lost his premature born daughter with Transit Saturn inconjunct Progressed Sun

Chart of Gordon Brown: Sun inconjunct and MC square Saturn

Gordon Brown knows how to survive a political crisis. At least, that is what he did in September 2008 and before. However, his natal chart is difficult and so are his transits and progressions. Here you read about the present situation, the situation in 2010 (Elections) and the resemblance with the charts of George W. Bush, Mussolini and ...Rosemarie Fritzl.

SCANDAL
Now there is a financial scandal and I wonder what he will do to escape this. It seems that Gordon Brown paid his brother Andrew (...) 6.500 pounds for the use of a cleaner and for a plumbing bill. That was when he was a member of parliament. The Telegraph mentions 13 ministers who used the parliamentary expenses system in a way that forces the Prime Minister to defend the system and his fellow politicians.

SATURN SQUARE MIDHEAVEN
His government may not be very stable, but he remains thePM always. His natal chart shows ambition and the possibility of decay and fall (at least in the public eye).
He has a 'calling' Saturn square Midheaven, just like in the chart of George W. Bush (who has Saturn square Midheaven, too). I think Saturn square Midheaven tells us that the career involves management (and/or government) and yes, politicians sometimes have to step back. With Saturn not making aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees (only this square with MC) one should expect rise and fall at any kind of level. But perhaps 6.500 pounds is not enough 'level'. Interesting, by the way, how Uranus opposition his Midheaven causes upheavel every now and then.

SUN INCONJUNCT SATURN
There is an aspect in Gordon Brown's chart that may look familiar to those who read all posts of this blog. Gordon Brown has Sun inconjunct Saturn in his natal chart, just like Rosemarie Fritzl. So I will repeat the quote from Cafe Astrology here: 'It is easy for you to take on responsibilities that aren't yours while ignoring ones that are.'
Rosemarie Fritzl
lost her position and 'status'. Benito Mussolini also had Sun inconjunct Saturn. Gordon Brown's chart shows a certain risk to end his career on the short end.

ELECTIONS WITH TRANSIT PLUTO ON MIDHEAVEN
The politicians won't drop him, but there will be elections before June 2010. That is when transit Pluto hits his Midheaven. His progressed Midheaven is about to conjunct his Sun and to be inconjunct Saturn, hitting the inconjunction of the natal chart. That makes his position hard, compared to that in September 2008. He may be blamed by the public. Often Pluto complicates things and perhaps he will have a difficult time in spring 2010. But Pluto also often means 'come back', however difficult. Should he have to return to parliament and step back later, with MC inconjunct Saturn? With Uranus on the MC of his solar return for 2010, the results may be surprising. It was a surprise that he became PM, too.

SUN-SATURN: being in charge
Nevertheless, even with such difficult aspects Gordon Brown made it to the top of the UK, just like George W. Bush managed to be in charge of the nation. See the topic about Sun and Saturn, managing to be in charge.

PS The inconjunction may also refer to the fact that there is a health issue (he has only one eye).

Gordon Brown and the elections

In the post about the chart of Gordon Brown (May 2009) I wrote about the elections in 2010:

It was a surprise that he became MP, too.

SUN-SATURN: being in charge
Nevertheless, even with such difficult aspects Gordon Brown made it to the top of the UK, just like George W. Bush managed to be in charge of the nation. See the topic about Sun and Saturn, managing to be in charge.

Gordon Brown came back before. He is like Jumping Jack Flash, but...

And there are no helping transits whatsoever.

I noticed that he has a very charming wife, btw. She is born October 31, 1963. On that day Venus didn't make major aspects so that beauty, taste, style and charm could develop and grow to any possible level. That important Venus is trine her husbands' Venus and Mars. She may like his passion. But, with transit Uranus square progressed Sun her life style is changing, just like his. They share an aspect between Sun and Uranus, so perhaps together they will be more than able to 'survive' a change.

David Cameron on June 3

David Cameron is less popular than to be expected (seen in the light of the never very popular Brown) and that shows. Transit Saturn is afflicting the Ascendant and Midheaven of Cameron all the time, but...not on June 3. By then transit Saturn has retrograded to the 28th degree of Virgo. David Cameron's progressed Sun sign is changin and that is indicating a changing life style. He will perhaps leave politics, cease to be a leader, or become the next PM, so that changing sun sign is in line with what happens. And no, this is not an attempt to predict the results of the elections. It is an observation: Cameron and Brown have much in common these days.

The funny thing is that they share the transit of Saturn and the changing sun sign. You see, his opponent, Gordon Brown, also has the progressed Sun in the final minutes of the sign. The inconjunction with Saturn in his chart is just as unpleasant as the transit of Saturn is in the chart of Cameron. Also interesting: that the progressed Suns of Cameron and Brown are inconjunct (150 degrees apart). The inconjunction shows that there would be little balance between them if they had to live together or join forces. An inconjunction is the symbol of lost. One of them will have to leave and in both cases there will be a change in the way that they see themselves.

Here below is the chart of Gordon Brown and here is the link to more about him and his chart. But first more about the chart of Cameron:
- Sun is 'calling' (not making major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees)
That is reflecting leadership (drawing attention at any possible level)
- Mars is 'calling' too and so is Jupiter
The combination of these 3 prominent placements points at successes. On June 3 transit Jupiter will be trine progressed Sun and that is a positive sign for him. On the other hand, transit Saturn won't remain in Virgo. There will be a final hit with his Ascendant and square his Midheaven after the elections. It might all just be personal. I read that his wife revealed (in the middle of the campaign1) that she will vote for Brown. That is OK, but there was no need to tell it now? (or was it a strategy of opponents to publish this now?) Maybe that is the perfect reflection of Saturn in Libra on the Ascendant.

Synastry Brown-Blair (Mars inconjunct Saturn)

Gordon Brown shouted:”You ruined my life” to Tony Blair. That is what the newspapers tell us. Read it here…

Did, by any chance, Tony Blair ruin the life of Gordon Brown? Perhaps. With Mars inconjunct Saturn and Moon opposition Moon there are enough problems to solve between then, in spite of the Venus and Jupiter of Blair. It seems to be a rather complicated relationship.

I have experienced the effect of Mars-Saturn and I am certain that it is a destructive combination in synastry. Mars is teasing; Saturn is putting down (see Cafe Astrology about the synastry of Mars and Saturn for more). Add just a little bit of aggression, a knife or a gun and the theme of death can manifest itself. It is difficult to see who 'done it' when Mars-Saturn hurts. I have two more examples of the Saturn-person being attacked.
1. Amy Bishop's Mars was square the Saturn of two of her victims.
2. Another example of Mars-Saturn synastry is the story about the Detroit hero. The Mars of Jasper is conjunct the Saturn of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and the Mars of Umar is inconjunct the Saturn of Jasper. They also share a Mars-Saturn aspect.

Maby it is rather hard to see who is the victim. It depends. But the examples above and my own experience is that Saturn is the one getting hurt and Mars is the one who hits or hurts, the actor. It is (sometimes litteraly) deathly and killing. In the synastry between Gordon and Tony Gordon is Mars and Tony is Saturn, but...there is an inconjunction. And an inconjunction with Saturn shows disproportionate disadvantage and restrictions without balance. Mars inconjunct Saturn is a bad aspect in synastry. A deathly serious matter (Mars-Saturn) migth have caused that the two are at cross-purposes ever since. Of course, that is not all.

Their Moon signs don't match. Brown's Moon is in the royal and sophisticated Leo, while Blair's is in the rather 'indifferent' Aquarius. The Moon in Leo needs to be the boss and take the lead and all the while Tony Blair was the man in charge. Also, their Suns are 75 degrees apart (who is the boss, that is the question, again).

So in general, even though there is a basic sympathy the men have a competition problem and they have such different kind of styles and ways to react, that it will be hard for them to join the same family or party. And that is what they did:).

BIRTH CHARTH OF GORDON BROWN
A Sun and Saturn conflict...

On the 17th May 2007 I wrote about Gordon Brown:

"His Sun is inconjunct Saturn in his chart and I wonder if that is a good position for a man in charge. His ambitions might not catch up with his health or he cannot combine leadership with administrations and control. His is first of all a man with ideals (Neptune is oriental) and his calling Jupiter will make him want to travel, publish and 'be international'. Mars is now opposing to Saturn and at the same time semi sextile the Sun in his chart and sesqui square to Pluto soon. It seems there is a hard struggle going on or a lot of work to do. At the same time Jupiter is making a trine with Progressed Pluto and square to Progressed Nodes. Pluto on the other hand is squaring his Progressed Jupiter. It is easy to see the succesful combination of Jupiter, Pluto and Nodes (the party). Gordon Brown was born in Edinburgh on 20th February 1951".

His progressed Sunsign will change in about two years time and again there will be (progressed) Sun inconjunct Saturn a year later.

Closing time Election day chart

The polls are open until 10 p.m. Previously I tought it was at 19:00 hours, but that was wrong. So here is the true chart of the UK Elections closing time (Times Online says it is 10 p.m.).

The suns or progressed Suns of the party leaders are all in aspect with the MC of closing time (30th degree of Virgo). The progressed Suns of Liberal Nick Clegg (on the edge of Aquarius and Pisces) and Labour Gordon Brown (in the last degree of Aries) are inconjunct (quincunx) the Virgo MC. The progressed Sun of Conservative David Cameron (in the final degree of Scorpio) is sextile the MC. It is peculiar that all three have the Sun in the final degree of a sign (reflecting a changing life style). Their Progresed Suns are afflicting each others P Sun and that is in line with their positions. Nick Clegg and Gordon Brown should perhaps work together after the elections and their progressed Suns are sextile (Aries and Aquarius), a rather soft combination. The progressed Sun of David Cameron is square Gordon Brown's and inconjunct Nick Clegg's. Squares and inconjunctions are hard aspects.

Inconjunctions often refer to losts, but time will tell if that is right, today. As a result of the exit polls the conservatives are smelling victory already (see Times). Click the label Elections or Politics to see more about the candidates or move to 'Hot items now' (above).

Astropost: Synastry Brown-Blair (Mars inconjunct Saturn)

See Astropost: Synastry Brown-Blair (Mars inconjunct Saturn), now that Tony Blair published his memoires and his opinion about Gordon Brown. I quote:
" In the synastry between Gordon and Tony Gordon is Mars and Tony is Saturn, but...there is an inconjunction.

Sun and Saturn (like in the chart of Gretha Smit)

In the natal chart Gretha Smit (in 2002 she won silver  in Salt Lake City on the 5.000 meters women speed skating) has Sun opposition Saturn. Any aspect between Sun and Saturn in progression or transit will have a strong effect resonating the natal aspect. So did transit Saturn inconjunct her progressed Sun.
Skater Gretha Smit (1976.01.26) had transit Saturn inconjunct progressed Sun, when newspapers revealed an accusation about trying to buy a starting place from a Polish skater (the accusation is being investigated).
That is what I wrote on on February 21, 2010 (link below)...That transit finished her career. Saturn - Sun aspects often end periods in life and sometimes untimely. This transit occured when Paris Hilton was arrested and I noticed this transit when a criminal cop was arrested. An inconjunction symbolises losts, giving up or getting out of balance.

An investigation followed and now she has been punished for trying to buy a starting place during the Turino Olympics in 2006. That was, by the way, when her progressed Sun sign changed...(and that ment that her life and life style was about to change).  Gretha Smit is furious about the judgement and about the punishment. She said she just passed an note, unaware of the contents. But...how about your transit Saturn inconjunct Sun? Just continue...

Change of PM's

Progressed Midheaven inconjunct transit Saturn and Gordon Brown has now resigned. In August/September he will also step back as the leader of the Labour Party. The inconjunction of Saturn ment lost and stepping back.

Vaira Vike-Freiberga, Sun-Uranus and the old boys network

Vaira Vike-Freiberga is the only serious female candidate for the European ‘ Presidency’. The procedure of selection is not democratic (it is so diffuse that it looks a lot like the way a Pope is elected! Maybe today there will be smoke:). Vaira Vike-Freiberga expressed her anger about the sexism in the European top. Yes, it seems that only males are wanted. Vaira Vike-Freiberga is the kind of person who has an extraordinary desire to be part of the old boys network, but...it is hard to succeed. The inconjunction between Sun and Uranus always mirrors the issue of NOT being regarded as ' one of us' by the wanted group. It is because with this aspect you ARE different. That is part of how she became a President in Latvia. She was a compromise candidate because she was no member of the existing political parties! That was in 1999 (when she was 62) with progressed Sun square Uranus...The issue of 'being independent' was highlighted at the time.
In the post ' Statue for the enemy' I mention the effect of a progressed Sun inconjunct Uranus in the chart of a German soldier who died shortly after he rescued two Dutch children during the Second World War. At the time he was a stranger (an official enemy) who wanted to be friends with the locals and who didn't feel at home among his own folks.
The 72 year old but still ambitious Vaira Vike-Freiberga has transit Neptune now square her natal Venus and progressed Sun inconjunct natal Neptune, the recipe for a desillusion. She would need a lot of more positive signs (perhaps related to Midheaven or Ascendant) to be the number one candidate. Her hour of birth is not known, so a 'miracle' (a fortunate transit of Jupiter with Midheaven?) is possible still...However, Mrs. Merkel's Uranus is sesquisquare the natal Sun of Vaira Vike-Freiberga and her Neptune is semi square that Sun. Mrs. Merkel's aproval is of vital importance.
Above you see the progressed tri-wheel with a natal chart for sunrise (fictious moment of birth).

(At the moment the chances for the Belgian Van Rompuy seem to be growing. He is the favorite of the French and now the German ambassador in Belgium said that Germany supports his candidacy, too. That is in line with the transit of Jupiter that is helping Van Rompuy (see the post about that, for the links, scroll down).
In other times she could have been a perfect candidate, however. She is a strong woman (Moon in Scorpio, like lots of other women who ‘ made it’, like for example Nancy Pelosi... http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/01/astrology-chart-nancy-pelosi-no-hob.html ). 1)

Vaira Vike-Freiberga is an international, speaking many languages (Mercury in Sagittarius, semi sextile Jupiter, most probably on an angle). Here is her guess chart, with Pluto on Descendant opposition Jupiter on the Ascendant and the Sun on Midheaven, reflecting that she is drawing attention at any possible level (the Sun doesn’t make major aspects within 5 degrees orb). Remember, it is just a guess chart.

Vaira Vike-Freiberga is unique among the European leaders and her natal Sun is inconjunct Uranus. This is to mirror the fact that she is not ‘ one of them’, not ‘ one of the old boys network’. And the bare fact is that the European board is nothing BUT an old boys network…and that she is an elderly lady...

Perhaps today the Europeans will be alowed to know who will be THE chairman of the board (or as they say: the best puppet on the string of the 3 most important Presidents and MP's). If you are interested in other players in the field, check the links to the posts about them, below. Neptune is important in the charts of the most possible candidates...

Mars and Saturn in synastry

When the Saturn of one person is in hard aspect with the Mars of the other person it is hard not to become enemies. It is a confronting, painfull and sometimes even deadly synastry. Enemies often have this Mars-Saturn combination in synastry.  It is a confronting and sometimes deadly synastry with Jared Loughner/Gabrielle Giffords as the latest example. I collected some info of the older posts on the subject, too and added some links...

BIRTH CHART CHERIE BLAIR AND HER AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Cherie Blair has written an autobiography and from day to day the Dailymail.co.uk reveals some of the contents. Today it was that she forgot the pill and got her son Leo (conceived at Balmoral), and that Tony Blair insisted on letting the press know that his wife got a miscarriage in order to avoid speculations about the reason of the delay of their holidays.

Cherie Blair was born 23th September 1954 with Pluto rising before the Sun for strategy and for sex, money and influence or politics...first. Her Sun is opposition Zero Aries and the Moon is in Leo. That is the reason why she wants attention for her position in life. If she is born after 13h30 the Sun is not aspected by major aspects in sign and that points at drawing attention by being a star or a leader at any possible level.

Recently her position changed and she had to move out of Downing Street 10. Transit Pluto is square her Sun and transit Neptune is square her progressed Sun. She might have difficulties with the change. Also notice that the press (Neptune) is not always kind to her. And not only the press...Her revelations about the relationship of mr. Brown with Mr. Blair has not been welcomed by Labour MP's who support Prime Minister Brown at all!

Cherie and Tony Blair have been married for a long time. Her Jupiter is conjunct his IC and square his Mercury. And her Venus opposition his Sun. Probably her Moon is square his Sun or opposition his Moon, but without HOB we don't know for sure...Also his Saturn is conjunct her Mercury. Does that mean that her book embarrasses him?
Recently transit Uranus was conjunct his progressed MC for a possible shock effect. I wonder if he knew:)

The gossip (Neptune...) is that Cherrie published parts of her biography sooner to gain more money than she would have if she waited till October. Because in October they expect Gordon Brown to have been forced to step down. And that is strategy again, and money (and is not that very Pluto?...).

The chart of Amanda Knox and the synastry with Meredith Kercher

To my surprise: Astrodatabank has the hour of birth of Amanda Knox. This is the AA rated chart. The transits show the positions of the day of birth of Meredith Kercher.

Meredith Kercher was murdered and Amanda is supposed to have been on the scene of the murder or to have participated in the murder. Reason for murder (says the judge): Meredith didn’t want to participate in a sexual orgy. Amanda has been convicted but she appealed. In this and more posts I will have a deeper look at her chart, the transits, the progressions and the synastry with the victim, starting with the interaction of the positions in the charts of Amanda Knox and Meredith Kercher. The interaction of their charts (between Sun-Neptune and Mars-Pluto) shows us the nature of their relationship in the eyes of us, the beholders. Their names are/were connected by an act of violence (Mars-Pluto) and by suspicion (Sun-Neptune: to see in a negative light).

Sir Edward Kennedy's progressed chart trine Saturn

Whenever a person gets well deserved respect, Saturn is involved. So it is in Edward Kennedy's chart. Transit Saturn is now exactly trine his progressed Midheaven and trine the progressed Sun. And what happens? He will receive an honorary knighthood and become Sir Edward Kennedy. Gordon Brown will announce the award today. One of the reasons is his involvement in the dispute over Northern Island.

Saturn has an important role in the chart of Ted Kennedy. At the time of his collapse lately, there was a threefold involvement of Saturn. (Read that post). Why is Saturn that important? It is because Saturn rules his Ascendant (in Capricorn). And because Saturn does not make Ptolemaic aspects in his natal chart. I name that a 'calling' Saturn. It means that business, administration, responsibilities and ambition are highlighted in his life at any possible level. Up to knighthood:)

When Saturn is the calling planet...

A planet without aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees is what I name a 'calling' planet. The qualities of that planet can reach any possible level and it is not possible to ignore the planet's 'call'. I have been collecting 14 examples up to now and I like to show you what I found.

When Saturn calls, duty calls. Saturn manifests himself prominently in the charts of managers, members of the administration, civil servants, 'fathers' or 'holy fathers'...Saturn is there where hierarchy is and it may take a while to get to the top. Saturn is the planet for officials (like elders, vicars). Saturn involves responsibilities, blame, burdens and often conservatism or the more 'classical' way. When Saturn is 'calling' those qualities and meanings cannot be denied. Often the parents or parenthood are important, too. The negative side of Saturn is that restrictions, limitations, fears and blockades or failure might be part of the deal. Like in the chart of:

- George W. Bush (Saturn in Cancer in the 12th house, ruling the 6th), who followed into the footsteps of his father. In the second term of his presidency, he had his Saturn return (transit Saturn conjunct Saturn) and Saturn crossed the ASC. That activated the existing square of Saturn with the Midheaven (and initiated his downfall). Cancer is the sign of the people and popularity (a word that is linked to populi - people). With Saturn in Cancer there is a limitation in popularity. But on the other hand, Saturn called and Saturn called him to be the Number One in the USA.

-Robert Schuller has Saturn calling in Scorpio. Read about his chart, click here. Saturn often is important in the charts of vicars.

- Pope Benedict 16th has Saturn 'calling' on top of his chart in Sagittarius in the ninth house (and retrograding). He is a church (Sagittarius) father (Saturn) above all...And he fell down with T Saturn square Saturn, see the post.

- In the chart of fallen top manager Bernard Madoff Saturn is calling, too, in Aries.

- André Rieu, doing a world wide tour with his popular classical orchestra, has a 'calling' Saturn oriental! He followed into his father's footsteps (his father was a director of an orchestra, too) and watch the word 'classical'!

- Saturn only makes one wide square (almost out of orb:) in the chart of Gordon Brown, who has Saturn square Midheaven, just like George W. Bush has. And both are in the government, aren't they?

- Manmohan Singh, India's VP has Saturn calling in his chart..

- Mukesh Ambani (Reliance) has Saturn calling in his chart and he is quite a manager and the eldest (!) of the Ambani brothers.

-Saturn was rising AND calling on the day of birth of Campbell Eadie Ross, who was hanged but was not guilty at all...

- Saturn ('for government') is calling in the final degree of Capricorn in the chart of Edward Kennedy. See:
http://astropost.blogspot.com/2008/05/birth-chart-edward-kennedy-who-has-been.html

- Saturn calls in the chart of Ben Bernanke

- Dieter Schwarz, manager of Lidl, has a calling Saturn, too.

- Duty calls in the chart of Prince Harry (Saturn on top, calling!).

- Mitt Romney has Saturn calling in his natal chart, opposition Midheaven and this position was activated when he stepped back...

My conclusion:
Saturn can be prominent in different ways: being placed on an angle, on top of the chart or square ASC, rising before the Sun or 'calling'. The above examples show that with a Saturn calling you can rise (high) and fall (deep). You can be a manager, director, president or executive. You might be in a position whit responsibilities and that involves being blamed when things go wrong. Saturn's importance can be working against you in certain conditions, circumstances and social settings. But Saturn does not need to be bad. It depends on the rest of the chart and of genes, social and cultural situations and economy how the 'calling' Saturn will reflect in what way you (are forced to) show responsibility and at what level.
