Viktor Orbán (Hungary) and transits of Saturn

Astrothème provides this chart of Hungary's PM Viktor Orbán, PM of Hungary, for 14.00 hours on May 31, 1963. Here you his chart with transits and progressions. They are not easy.

1. The progressed Midheaven conjunct natal Uranus nicely mirrors that there is controversy around him. People are fore or against him. And there is a hectic, unexpected situation (Uranus!)
2. With Transit Saturn trine Progressed Sun there is also stability now, continuity and self respect. This won't last for long. Saturn moves, like the refugees do.
3. Transit Saturn will be square his MC soon, if Astrothème is right about his hour of birth.  Transits of Saturn are hard.

Doesn't this show his present position?
Some consider him as the goal-keeper of Europe. Others see him as a rebel against Europe, modern democracy and Merkel's policy. They picture him like a modern Hitler and then his fans come to show their support. But in these hectic times one thing is certain: there is criticism. And that is so Saturn, just like blockades, borders and restrictions. The combination of Uranus and Saturn issues the theme of breaking free (or not).

Remember:
Charts don't tell us what will happen. The symbols are flexible. All depends on gender, genes, social and economic or political circumstances...Orbán's Sun and Moon are in flexible signs. Borders sometimes are and sometimes not...

View on Budapest
You can see all of what is going on in that chart. For a view on Orbán, today, see: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/hungary-s-viktor-orban-the-cunning-leader-who-would-keep-refugees-out-of-europe-1.3230749 and think of transit Saturn (criticism all around).

PS MIGRATION
Neptune was in Pisces in the days of the Migration (4th century) and in days of revolution. Uranus-Pluto stresses nations and creates a lot of unrest throughout the ages. Two important factors contributed to the present situation and it will not end untill Saturn is conjunct Uranus (a new order). The chart of Europe and Hungary will show what's next.
Quoting myself:
In 376 the Migration Period (see Wikipedia) began that ended the Roman Empire and was the start of the Early Middle Ages. From February 375 till March 379 Neptune was in the first degrees of Pisces. Neptune in Pisces mirrored a period of ideological wars and revolutionary changes. The Migration Period lasted for ages, but started then, with Neptune in early Pisces.

The danger of Pluto, not on guard

Pluto's transits may signal danger. With transit Pluto inconjunct Sun, the failing security service of President Obama should be more alert (and especially in the days between December 10 and 15, 2014). Warnings, like the discovered mistakes, should be taken seriously. Usually, the transits or progressions of or with Pluto pop up in times of stress and threat, and usually people survive these aspects. Unless there is something wrong already and not when circumstances enable a danger or threat to become manifest and overrule the situation. A President is always in danger and should be protected by all means. Transit Pluto inconjunct Sun is an advice to appreciate life and avoid dangerous or exhausting situations. Pluto is the symbol of values, strategy and politics. The symbol of vitality combined with an aspect of "gliding scale" and intense Pluto, warns for being overwhelmed  and overpowered. Take better care, security service!

OBAMA's INCONJUNCT PLUTO
Here is the chart of President Obama and the progressions and transits of September 16, when an armed man joined him in the elevator.
To maximize the picture, CTR + Tap or click in the chart and open new window.

PLUTO IS COMPLICATED
You and I probably survived more than 1 transit or progression of Pluto. Most people do and few will die. But it is  no rule. For example, my mother recently died with Progressed Sun exactly square Progressed Midheaven, both in narrow hard aspect with natal Pluto. After she broke her hip bone on two places in 2012, she had developed a health problem caused by a mix of drugs. The deadly combination just had to be taken, or else the pain would be unbearable. Her age, 85, and her situation (in a wheel chair), didn't help dealing with the problems. Pluto's presence in her chart warned for stress and danger, but in her situation little could be done about it, warning or not. Pluto makes it all complicated.

It CAN be done in Obama's case, however. The inconjunct of Pluto tells me that there is too much stress, danger and pressure right now. It should be easy to release him with the help of those close to him. He is healthy, not too old, rich and in a position of authority. But it takes security...Today the chief security stepped back.

The Pluto inconjunct of a nation's leader has strong effect for the people in the nation. The chart of the  USA is being hit by the stress provoking Uranus-Pluto square with transit Pholus opposition natal Mars (a point of  no return in a battle. Look around and see what is going on in the world. It is time to be warned and time to take measures in order to defend the true values of life.

I read Lynn Koiner's article , in particular the part of interaction about the inconjunct. Her advice was (in my words) not to get involved in unhealthty situations, not to endanger your life and health because of others. Perhaps that is hard to do. Please read the story of Edith Cavell, a heroic and executed World War I nurse, and her Sun inconjunct Pluto. She gave her life for the sake of others and maybe should have protected her own. I don't know... It is up to you to decide about the value of your life and that of others when it comes to it.

Second chance posts 3: the cartoonist in danger

Some posts didn't get much attention and deserve a second chance this summer. This one was written in February 2008. It is about Mercury NA ('calling'), Sun-Pluto danger and Jupiter-Neptune sextiles in days of Jupiter square Neptune.

BIRTH CHART OF A CARTOONIST IN DANGER: KURT WESTERGAARD

Kurt Westergaard is the Danish cartoonist who is in danger after the publications of his cartoons, imagening a muslim warrior with a bomb in his hat. His life had been threatened before, but this time five potential murderers were caught. They planned to kill him AND his wife.

Kurt Westergaard was born July 13, 1935 (unknown time). Mercury is the most prominent planet in his chart. Mercury does not make major aspects in sign and is square Aries Point (Zero Aries). That says that he will be known for his opinion or for the way he is communicating.

There is another sign for publishing: Moon in Sagittarius indicates the need to publish or announce. There is a quintile with Neptune and a sesqui square with Jupiter involved with Mercury.

In this special case communications (Mercury) about religion (Jupiter and Neptune) showed up as a theme in this life. It also means that he is able to 'imagine' a picture (Neptune) and that he is exagerating, just like cartoonists usually do. His Jupiter is in a tight sextile with Neptune.

And when the riots were most frightening (in February of 2006) Jupiter in Scorpio (for a strict opinion or conviction) was square Neptune in Aquarius (for the rebellion and freedom of an artist). Jupiter square Neptune could also be read as: a struggle (square) with a religious theme (Jupiter-Neptune).

Cartoonists are artists. So is Kurt Westergaard. Look at his Venus and the aspects that Venus makes!

DANGER
Kurt Westergaard is in serious danger say the news papers and says his chart. Transit Pluto is now square his progressed Sun. The progressed Sun recently changed sign. This is supported by progressed Mars sesqui square Sun and inconjunct Uranus.

PLUTO
Notice how the Sun conjunct Pluto in his radix comes back in the actual transit with the progessed Sun. Kurt Westergaard is not the kind of man who hesitates to make life more difficult than it is. He is courageous, fanatic and strong, but at that moment in 2008 he was forced to perhaps go 'underground' (Pluto).

Sun inconjunct Pluto in Edith Cavell's chart

Because of the special coin with the image of executed heroic nurse Edith Cavell, I got interested in her birth chart and (even more) in the transits and progressions on the day of her execution, on October 12, 1915 by the Germans in World War I. She was born on December 4, 1865 with Sun inconjunct Pluto. She was very brave. Edith Cavell had Mars rising before the Sun. It was unlikely that she would do nothing and would not try to help. Mars is for action.

On her final day there were hard transits to deal with.

1. transit Pluto was inconjunct her progressed Sun, with progressed Sun also inconjunct Uranus.
2. transit Mars opposite progressed Sun
3. transit Neptune opposite progressed Sun
4. progressed Sun inconjunct natal Uranus
(Mars and Neptune's transits were semi sextile natal Uranus)

There are more aspects to be considered and there is no hour of birth available, so that her Ascendant, Moon and Midheaven can't be analyzed. In this post, I limit myself to the inconjunctions, to Uranus + Pluto and to the resonance of the natal Sun inconjunct Pluto with transit Pluto inconjunct progressed Sun.

Uranus-Pluto combinations often appear when a person is being arrested (and not vice versa!). It is a combination of an intense shock, sudden danger, ultimate change and deeply felt stress. Inconjunctions (quincunxes) refer to giving up, a loss or losing balance. She had 2 or 3 of them. Saturn inconjunct Neptune was used in her profession as a nurse. The other inconjunct is:
Sun inconjunct Pluto. That is a very difficult aspect . Sun - Pluto aspects may be challenging (see Astromarkt) but not always fatal. An inconjunct makes it harder to survive, because the person in question is no match for the danger or authority of others, at least: in times of war. You have to consider the fact that difficult aspects are harder in hard times and in difficult situations. Pluto always intensifies and stresses. With an inconjunct, it could be just too much to be able to survive in times of danger.

When the two points involved in an aspect in the natal chart are connected by means of a transit or progression, the impact is much stronger than usual. Unfortunately, in 1915 transit Pluto repeated the natal inconjunct with her Sun and she faced the challenges that she just had to face because of her nature.

Timeline of Bowe Bergdahl's chart

Bowe Bergdahl is a US soldier, recently released in a prisoner change, who was captured by the Taliban when he walked out of the compound unarmed. His chart, transits and progressions offer insight in the astrological indications of change and the impact of natal aspects. As Bergdahl seems to have psychological problems dating back to a decade, his chart should be read considering that fact and even mote careful because there is no hour of birth. I'll stick to the timelime and the progressions and transits in this post.

When he wrote about a new life, and was forced to step into another world, his progressed Sun was moving to the next sign (from Aries to Taurus), trine Mars (the symbol of the soldier). Progressed Venus inconjunct Uranus and semi square Sun.

When he was released the Sun was opposite Pluto in the progressed chart with progressed Sun trine Neptune. In the natal chart Sun is inconjunct Pluto and square Neptune. Transit Pholus conjunct his Uranus and transit Pluto conjunct Mars completes the picture.

A progressed Sun changing sign indicates a change in life style. When it happened to me, that was clearly so. Sun-Pluto transits and progressions point at periods of stress, survival and comebacks and sometimes of life at stake. It seems the Berghdahl's timeline is corresponding with the transits and progressions with his chart.

The bright sides of transits/progressions: Sun-Pluto

You know the song ‘Bright side of life’? If you don’t, here is the song and text (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2UP86bciVA ). Sing along while reading this post! It is summer time (well, almost!).  The picture above is 'Fallen star' by

This post is one of a series of posts, and the subject is: the bright sides of nasty aspects (but only when you look at it like if you were the devil's advocate). Of course, I don’t want to laugh at heavy transits. I wouldn’t dare! Too many of them have passed in my life and most of them were rather unpleasant! It is no wonder that many of us fear the transits  and progressions of Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. It is, because they  use to mirror periods of set backs, shocks, confusion and stress. But there ARE always bright sides, tiny little insignificant sparks of light, fallen stars that may hit you when you are down. I always use music in such periods. So I included a suggested YouTube video, in every post.

Use it for transits and progressions, just to consider the bright sides. What have you learned, gained or experienced in those nasty periods?

The label  for the list is ‘Bright sides’. You find that label on the (b)right side of Astropost.

Sun-Pluto
You live life to the max because you value life so much. You show courage en strength. Have you ever seen so much in such a short time? Stress hormones help you see how valuable life is. Maybe you never payed attention to bees, bugs, birds and beetles, but NOW you see them. You’d not have seen all this if you didn’t have this transit or progression!  Now that your vitality, life style or life is in danger, you start to appreciate it like you never did before. Enjoy those special moments, before you forget about it and rush back into life. You may need all your strength, courage and will in this period, so try this song to encourage you:

There is a lot on Sun-Pluto on my sites. Here is the article on Astromarkt:

Donald Sterling's Mercury-Jupiter

Any aspect between Mercury and Jupiter is rather fortunate for communications and the reach of the voice. It is definitely one of the aspects contributing to success in the world out there. Jupiter, however, has an arrogant and exaggerating side that, with Mercury, doesn't really help human interactions. I wrote about that side of Mercury-Jupiter before and in that post I mentioned the late Mr. Phelps's Mercury inconjunct Jupiter.  Mr. Phelps knew how to broadcast hate speech.

Today, I have a new example of the difficulties of Mercury-Jupiter affliction: Donald Sterling, born April 26, 1934.  He was talking too loud. On April 9 this year there was an audio recording of a conversation that was released on April 25. He was arguing with his Stiviano who posted a picture on Instagram posing with Magic Johnson.
His Mercury is in Aries, opposition Jupiter. His progressed Mercury is at 16d Cancer now, square Jupiter.
Whenever a transit or progression repeats a natal combination, the effect is harder than with other transits or progressions (see about 'resonance'), so it was likely to expect some kind of opinion being broadcasted loudly, as one might expect to happen with a person with a Mercury-Jupiter conflict (at least once in a life time).
In the natal chart his Mercury is opposition Jupiter and square Pluto. That is a combination for an expanding vocabulary and success in communications or business. It might even be so, that in spite of what he said, there will be people supporting his opinion, because Jupiter helps blindfolded and not always according to our wishes. Mr. Phelps also had his supporters...
It is also true, that he had a great career. He really made it. He began as an independent divorce and personal injury attorney and became a business magnate, rich enough to own the Los Angeles Clippers (a team valued at 575 million dollars). Mercury is sesquisquare Jupiter/Pluto and that one of the indications for success on April 26, 1934.
It takes more of such indications, of course. But, as we don't know what time Donald Sterling was born, we will never know about his MC or AC, the exact midpoint Sun/Moon and/or angular placements, but I guess there will be more keys to success for us to find once that we know his hour of birth.

He probably always had that kind of ideas. In 2006 he was accused of racism, too. That was with transit Jupiter inconjunct his natal Mercury. Transit Saturn was square his Sun in that period. That transit mirrored criticism. Now, transit Saturn is trine progressed Sun (making it easy to criticize him:).

This time there are a few difficulties.
a. Transit Ixion is inconjunct progressed Sun. I wrote about Ixion's meanings and one of them is that of 'the bad guy'. See that post http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2014/03/what-is-ixion-lets-test-it.html

b. Transit Eris is square Progressed Sun (discord!)

c. Transit Mars is opposition Mercury (for a dispute)

d. And even more important: Donald Sterling's progressed Sun is conjunct Pluto, making way for challenges, stress and crisis. There will be consequences and maybe there is a price to pay. No matter how old he is, because there will be no discrimination.

In http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/10/progressed-sun-opposition-pluto.html I mention that with progressed Sun conjunct Pluto Salvador Dali married his Gala and that it was the very first time that he had sex. Sun-Pluto times are intense times and impressive times that change you.

So, there is more than enough astrological evidence for an angry dispute and the challenge of being 'a bad guy'.

PS The picture above shows Jupiter with Mercury and Virtue.

The cruel dictator in Stalin's chart

I just added an article on Joseph Stalin's chart to Astromarkt (in Dutch( and decided to mention something about him here, too, on the 18th of December, his birthday. The natal chart of Stalin has all of the ingredients for a cruel dictator IF given total power and IF there is no control. Just like the Chinese dictator Mao he has an important combination of Saturn and Pluto in the chart. It is a combination for a 'die hard'.

The natal chart of Stalin has a DD-rating given by Astrodatabank. For a long time it wasn't even certain on what day Stalin was born. As he was poor and not yet important when he was born, nobody noted his hour of birth, so the Ascendant, Midheaven, Moon and house positions are nothing more but a guess. That leaves us the positions on the day of birth…and those have to be seen in the light of that time in history, the culture and the man's genes.

Here is the natal chart with transits and progressions of an important day in his life (April 3, 1911) when he escaped an arrest and 'vanished'. Watch Neptune and Pholus!(Click to enlarge)

There is a very important Mars in this chart. Mars rises before the Sun and has a few very narrow aspects:
- a quintile with Jupiter
- a trine with Saturn
- an opposition with Pluto
- a semi sextile with the Sun
I know that we CAN read this as: a successful (Jupiter) very driven (Mars-Pluto) dictator (Sun-Saturn), but maybe that is too fast too soon. Perhaps another day I'll be back for more on his chart. Meanwhile, I like to point at the labels below, for more background information on Sun-Saturn, Sun-Pluto, Mars-Pluto and Mars-Saturn. This survivor didn't trust the outside world and got too much power. Lenin was too late and died before he could stop the rise of Stalin, a an responsible (Saturn) for the abuse of power (Mars-Pluto) that eventually killed millions.

Astrology of Jang Sung-taek's execution

Here are the chart, transits and progressions of the late husband of Kim Young-Un's aunt: Jang Sung-taek. The man who was referred to as a 'dog' used to have a position of power. His life style (women, booze and fraud), the officials said, was the reason for his execution. A few weeks earlier, the ex-lover of Kim Young-Un was executed because of acting in a 'porn' movie. Kim Young-Un's year of birth is 1983 or 1984, so it is hard to have a look at HIS chart, though every January 8' chart has the natal Sun opposition the Mars of 'uncle' Jang. Sun-Mars conflicts between men refer to competition.

There is unanimity about Jang Sung-taek's data. He was born on February 2, 1946, with a revolutionary chart with 4 positions in Aquarius opposition Pluto and trine Uranus. Now is the time of Uranus square Pluto, so that it is likely for people born on February 2, 1946 to have to face an episode of stressful change now.

When Jang Sung-taek died, the mundane Uranus square Pluto transit hit his Neptune and his Pluto.
1. Transit Uranus was opposition his Neptune;
2.  transit Pluto was inconjunct his Pluto;
3. transit Pluto was also quindecile his progressed Mars;
4. progressed Mars was  inconjunct progressed Pholus;
5. progressed Sun inconjunct progressed Chiron;
6. progressed Venus inconjunct progressed Juno (mirroring the importance of his marriage; his wife was spared).

You see? There were 3 quincunxes pointing at losing balance and danger of a loss. Mars was involved twice (hurt, action) and Pluto also twice (danger, challenges). Even without explaining all of the transits and progressions, it is easy to see that he was in the middle of a difficult period. Anyone born on February 2, 1946 should pay attention to his health and safety right now, but...
You don't HAVE to be murdered when you are born on the same day.

Kenian politician Alpha_Oumar_Konaré, an American comedian named Clark and businessman Constantine Papadakis (died 2009 - cause pneumonia) were also born on Februari 2, 1946, but not in North Korea, where it is so easy to get executed in the name of the grandson of the first leader

A difficult natal Pluto and a position of power, a dictator and a hard synastry with the dictator's chart may get you in a difficult situation...

Golden oldies of Astropost - 1 - on crime

Some posts here are very popular, some are less viewed and almost forgotten, even though I think that they are worth being read:).
Here are some of them, related to crime:

1 Bertrand Cantat was released  in 2007 and I wrote about that. Before he was found guilty of beating his friend Marie Trintignant to death, he was a popular singer (Noir Desir).
There is some similarity with the case of Oscar Pistorious and his friend Reeve Steenkamp. Just like Reeve, Marie had a hard transit of Pluto with natal Sun. Transit Pluto cAn be an alarming signal of life in danger.
The story on YouTube (in French): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6D5JLffKxKk
Here is the chart with transits and progressions for July 27, 2003, when the crime happened:

In 2012 he 'came back' on stage. For the artist we see a prominent Neptune on MC in a quatronovile with Venus.  Besides: Moon/Neptune=MC.
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2007/10/bertrand-cantat-released.html

2. I wrote about the documentary ' Capturing the Friedmans' and the charts related. What I found was that the main 'suspect' had transit Neptune square his natal Sun in the period of accusations. Neptune always  confuses and raises mysteries. Another mistake of Neptune is gossip...
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2007/10/capturing-friedmans.html
Later there was news about the case:
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/11/capturing-friedmans-update-and-about.html
In that post I mention Mercury inconjunct Neptune. It is the kind of aspect that is related to false accusation, miscommunications and confused confessions.

3. Mars used to be the war god. He is still the symbol of war in the charts of war criminals:

Christopher Dorner's aspects, transits and progressions

Today transit Ceres is exactly opposition my natal Sun. I had a look at the progressed chart of Christopher J. Dorner, the fired angry cop who became a killer. I noticed that in the progressed chart of the hunted man Sun is exactly square Ceres, not soon after progressed Sun square Eris (facing discord). Today also happens to be the birthday of Leslie Nielsen. I looked at the chart and noticed that his Sun is opposition Ceres and Ceres sesquisquare Ascendant. What does Ceres mean? Even the chart of Pope Benedict has an important Ceres on top, on Midheaven.

Ceres seems to be my theme for today. Ceres is the symbol of dynasty, family, motherhood, the archetypical woman, fertility, genes, seed, race, roots and nutrition (food; Ceres is important in the charts of cooks).Did you know that both Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston have Ceres 'calling' (no aspects) in their charts? And what do you think of that 'calling' Saturn inconjunct Ceres in the chart of the man who lost his function and feels that discriminating colleagues and superiors are to blame?

DORNER's NATAL CHART
There is no hour of birth available.

In the natal chart Saturn in Virgo is exactly inconjunct Ceres as if there was already a disproportional disadvantage related to his roots. Virgo is a discriminating sign in the sense that Virgo looks for details and differences. In this case the bookkeeper's eye is linked to Ceres, the symbol of genes. Could I read that as part of the problem? There may have been natal disadvantages to start with. He felt them more than others did, perhaps. Saturn in Virgo doesn't make narrow aspects. It is an indication that 'duty calls' and that he had a 'calling' for official duty, as a police man. Respect and the law are highlighted. Now he faces the law from the other side.

In Christopher Dorner's natal chart Mars rises before the Sun. That is the statement for the activist, the energetic and driven person.  (Mars in Taurus doesn't act quickly and neither did Christopher, five years after losing the job.) Mars is in minor aspect with Saturn (112.5 degrees, square + half semi square). Mars-Saturn is for disciplinary measures. This aspect comes back now, in progression!

Another interesting aspect in the chart of Dorner is Mercury opposition Neptune. Mercury-Neptune aspects are common in the charts of those who become the victim of miscommunications, false accusations or testimonies or… of their own fantasies. There is a number of examples on this blog.

The natal Sun is sesquisquare the midpoint Saturn/Neptune. This is a difficult midpoint combination to deal with and often includes illnesses (related to emotional suffering).

The Sun is trine Pluto. That shows us the importance of self esteem and being valued.

DORNER's PROGRESSED CHART
Several points in the progressed and natal chart of Dorner are in line with what happens. In a bad situation the nasty sides of aspects, transits and progressions show up. He IS in a bad situation.

a. Christopher Dorner's natal and progressed chart both have Mars rising before the Sun.  He hasn't changed through the years and is still militant.

b. In the progressed chart, this Mars is now square Saturn (the law, disciplinary measures). Mars-Saturn is a dangerous combination, related to death, heroes, severe injuries and blocked energy. This aspect is resonating the minor aspect in the natal chart and therefore stronger than other aspects! To discipline, to punish, to be disciplined an punish, that is the Mars-Saturn story.

c.  Progressed Eris in the 15th of Aries (discord) and progressed Nessus in the 15th of Cancer (revenge) are exactly square. How this Eris square Nessus (in aspect with progressed Sun) corresponds with what is going on! There is a revengeful war going on.

ANGERED SUN-PLUTO
d. Now that the angered Sun trine Pluto became Progressed Sun square Pluto stress turned his life and that of others upside down. The progressed Sun with Pluto mirrors life in danger.
Sun-Pluto aspects point at the importance of self esteem and defending honor. Angered, he choose a bloody way to get attention needed (in his eyes) to clear his name and restore his value by killing persons who where not his direct enemies.

And he is worth one million dollar now...death or alive.

Example of 5 times transit Pluto at once

Today I had the sad opportunity to see how transit Pluto changes the life of someone close. She went to see the  cardiologist because she was tired and had a strange feeling on the chest. What happend was that he found an almost completely closed coronary artery.  He placed a stent. This was exactly what she was afraid of. And it was with 5 transits of Pluto:

  • Pluto conjunct her Sun
  • Pluto conjunct her Moon
  • Pluto conjunct her midpoint Sun/Moon
  • Pluto inconjunct het progressed Descendant
  • Pluto opposite Ceres (heart issurs are in  the family)

All 5 transits were within less than 0,5 degree orb...

Those transits were accompanied by:
Transit Chiron (healer/pain) conjunct progressed Sun.
Transit Saturn inconjunct progressed IC

And:
Very soon transit Saturn will be square MC and inconjunct Progressed IC

All three (Pluto, Chiron and Saturn) are hitting the lights and the angles, the key points in the chart.
It is the reflection of dangerous, changing and hard times. The 8th is involved, too. Pluto is in the progressed 8th house. She is safe in hospital tonight and her family hopes for her safe return home, feeling better.

Question is now: is transit Pluto reflecting the surgery (and in a way that saved her life...)? Or did the conjunctions mean that she is starting a difficult period in life, with medication and in the 'survival' mode?

Transit Pluto is always complicated. As an astrologer, you see it coming and all you can do is make a wish that this force is WITH the person and not against. Even if transit Pluto is considered to be helping you get rid of a problem, it is still difficult to deal with. May this force with be you:)!

Transit Pluto with the Moon intensifies emotions and habits/needs. Getting back to usual (at home) is difficult and challenging with such an aspect, even if it is a trine (though you might feel stronger than ever).  It often gives stress at home or in the family. Sometimes this is because of a family problem or a memorable event regarding life and death. Michael Moore had this transit after his chemo therapy (and with his son in jail).

Mars-Saturn synastry between parent and child

Mars-Saturn synastry isn't easy and sometimes scary. Mars-Saturn is about inevitable, obligatory action or inactivity. The drive for this action or inactivity duty, fear, age or caution. Mars is also about discipline. But it is hard to dose disciplinary measures with conflicts between Mars and Saturn. When the Mars of one person is in aspect with another person's Saturn, there is a potential death end and hard conflict between them that requires a lot of discipline to avoid trouble.

Quoting myself in the post on the subject:
"So what if your Mars or Saturn is in conflict with another person's Saturn or Mars? Provided that you are not extreme personalities and driven by anger or violence, this relationship could be a longlasting one. However, with sometimes deadly criticism, perhaps. And maybe even the softer aspects end up in a cry: 'You ruined my life'!!!'
It takes a lot of fortunate indications (and a lot of Venus!) to beat the painfull aspects of the relationship."

You ruined my life… Sometimes this is what literally happens in Mars-Saturn synastry and I gave examples of it in the post that I  mentioned above.

But how about parents and children with a Mars-Saturn synastry? Here is a sad example that, I hope, is not exemplary.

ADAM AND NANCY LANZA's MARS-SATURN SYNASTRY

Natal, transits and progressions Nancy Lanza for December 14

I recently wrote about the Newton tragedy and the importance of Mars in the charts involved. Here is more about the synastry between Nancy and Adam Lanza. Nancy Lanza's Saturn is half sesquissquare (67.5 d) the Mars of her son and he killed her. Mars-Saturn is one of the aspects related to death ends. This potential Mars-Saturn anger also shows up in the square between her Mars and his.

Weapons are symbolized by Mars. We know now how her weapons were used against her. Mars-Mars synastry means fire.

- MORE MOTHER-CHILD AND MARS-SATURN SYNASTRY EXAMPLES

The aspect between mother and son Lanza simply means that on the day that Adam Lanza was born, transit Mars was 67.5 degrees away from Nancy's Saturn.
More mothers and their children have a Mars-Saturn synastry. It must have been hard labor to give birth on that day. The nature of the aspect in the Lanza-synastry is of a frustrating kind.

I have an example of a mother and daughter with 67.5 degrees between the daughter's Mars and the mother's Saturn. When she was a child, the daughter had been beaten and forced to do a lot of domestic tasks by her mother. There is a constant hidden anger about that and the daughter even consulted a psychologist in order to deal with her anger. From time to time they break up and don't see each other for years. The mother still thinks that being a disciplinary mother was the right way to be. So in this case, the Mars person was hurt.

I have another example of son and mother with his Saturn quindecile her Mars. She never hit her children. He never hit her. Giving birth was rather painful. Both have an important Mars and Saturn in the natal chart. Maybe they practice counting to ten...

A third example is of a daughter and her mother with the daughter's Saturn square the mother's Mars. No harm done, between them, but the daughter always knows how to act like a parent...

There are many ways to express a Mars-Saturn synastry and perhaps also many ways to not express it... It all depends on the charts, the situation and culture. There is no astrology aspect that mirrors some kind of a 'fate'.

- VENUS AFFLICTIONS

As I said, it takes a lot of Venus to conquer Mars-Saturn or to ease Mars-Mars. There was a lot of Venus between the charts of Nancy and Adam Lanza. Newspapers mention that he was part of a loving and caring family.

a. Nancy Lanza's Venus was inconjunct Adam Lanza's Sun. An inconjunct of Venus mirrors an overdose of love, not balances feelings of sympathy and eventually the risk of loss of love.
b. There was also Venus quindecile Venus between them (an obsessed mutual love). It was not that there wasn't any love.  It looks like there was almost too much of it.*)

- THIS WAS AN EXTREME EXAMPLE

Mars-Saturn and Venus-Saturn synastry is not uncommon in the interaction of charts of parents and children. It rarely leads to murder. But Adam Lanza was not a normal young man. He had mental problems. He also was in a difficult and challenging stressful period in his life (P Sun opposite Pluto).

- MORE ON THE PROGRESSED SYNASTRY ADAM-NANCY

In the post about Adam Lanza and the importance of Mars in the chart of the shooting and in the chart of the shooter I mentioned the progressions and transits. His progressed Sun was on an estimated 22.8 degrees Taurus opposition his natal and progressed Pluto. This difficult progression hit his mother's chart.
Adam Lanza's Progressed Sun and Pluto were square his mother's Uranus and semi sextile his mother's Mars. Mars, Pluto and Uranus in a combination are a dangerous trio. Sudden use of violence is one of the ways to read this combination. Dramatic change with aggression is another way to see Mars, Uranus and Pluto together.
It was a dangerously tense situation. Adam Lanza was born with mental problems. And his mother had a collection of weapons…
Natal, progressed and transits of Nancy Lanzo

The Sun, on the day of the tragedy of Newtown, was in the 23rd degree of Sagittarius. That is inconjunct the progressed Sun of Adam Lanzo and inconjunct his mother's Uranus and semi sextile his mother's Mars. That made it even more of a nervous day for her.
Nancy Lanza's Progressed Sun was on 5.5 Scorpio. That is inconjunct her son's Mercury and semi square her natal Mercury. Mercury is the symbol of contact, interactions and communications. It seems that there was a problem in understanding each other as if they were speaking on different levels.

The hours of birth are unknown. That means that a lot of the chart is unknown, like the position of the Moon, the midpoint sun/moon, the Ascendant and Midheaven, the angular positions and more…
But the synastry of the charts of the days of birth of mother and son shows a potential for hard conflicts, together with unbalanced love of two persons.

PARENTS AND CHILDREN WITH MARS-SATURN SYNASTRY

Mars-Saturn synastry between parents and children aren't always this hard. But I wonder if it would be wise to keep a certain distance when this Mars-Saturn synastry pops up between charts, especially when mother and child are adults. Time, responsibility and age or respect might be a barrier for anger and aggression for some time. But there will always be a potential for hurt and pain between the two, from the start and in the end. So if you and your parent or you and your child have a Mars-Saturn synastry: take care. Try to avoid long lasting conflicts. Try not to hurt each other to hard.

You can't turn back the clock and have your child on a day without Mars-Saturn synastry. With Mars-Saturn you have to learn how to deal with trouble, I guess. Parents and children in such an astrological situation need a lot discipline to avoid trouble...

Question:
Any ideas how to avoid hard conflicts in such a synastry?

*)( In fact, the example that I have of Venus quindecile Venus is also a tragic one about the love of a French woman for a German officer in World War2 (read: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2012/08/venus-quindecile-venus-obsessive-love.html )

The astrology of Marquis de Sade

The chart of the author of 'Fifty shades' is as unknown as her date of birth. Now that '50 shades of Grey' is such a success, maybe it is a good time to have a look a the chart of Marquis De Sade, the man who gave his name to sadism. He didn't only write about sadism… he practised it.
What is in his chart?

CHART
Astro.com provides the AA-rated natal chart and an autobiography: http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Sade,_Marquis_de
Here is more about the chart. There are a number of keys to his lifestyle. This chart has progressions (the green positions) and transits (the red ones) for his wedding day.

DOMINANCE: PLUTO
The Astro ID is like the 'special marks' in a passport. For this I look at the planets without major aspects, the planets on the angles or square AC and the planet rising before the Sun. Here we see:

Pluto on the Scorpio Ascendant
Mars rising before the Sun, square Venus-Saturn

Pluto is most prominent (angular). This placement mirrors the importance of cases of life and death, values, power and …sexuality. There is another reason for the importance of Pluto.
There is also a Golden Yod (quintiles/biquintiles) of Sun, Pluto and Midheaven, pointing at Pluto (dominance), creatively (quintiles). In the days of Marquis de Sade, Pluto was still unknown...

Second best is Mars: he is a do-er, an activist, aggressive maybe…but first of all: a man. The importance of Mars + Pluto is the importance of acts of violence and the drive to win (to be dominating).

Mars and Pluto are both in aspect with Midheaven (position, career). You might say that his intense (PLUTO) male hormones (MARS) were related to his reputation.

CHARACTER
The Gemini Sun and Virgo Moon with Scorpio Ascendant show us an intellectual person with a rather courageous or brutal way of 'doing it'. Writing pornographic sadistic stories seems to be in line with communicating (Mercury ruled Gemini and Virgo) about sex (Scorpio).

PASSION+DISCIPLINE+PAIN
Venus square Mars for passion and Saturn for the restrictions, the fear and control. With Venus-Saturn we see a marriage of convenience and broken hearts. Mars square Saturn challenges discipline. But another way to read this is: controlled (Saturn) passion (Venus). Sadism is about being in control + sex.

The tightest aspect in the chart is Moon trine Uranus, expressing the need for excitement and 'new' experiences.

I already mentioned the Golden Yod of Sun-Pluto and Midheaven. I also like to mention Sun/Moon conjunct Venus: being motivated by women, pleasure, style, beauty...

MARRIAGE AND NEPTUNE
I included the progessions for his wedding day for a reason...
When he married (May 17, 1763) there was a very illustrative aspect in his progressed chart. Progressed Sun in the 8th house (sex) was conjunct Neptune, ruler 5  (games) in the 8th house (sex). That is when it all started.

END
It ended after years in an institution for the mentally ill. It might have been a political choice, but it is also true that his stories were a lot more explicit and sadistic than the soft pornographic affair in '50 shades of Grey'...
