Restrictions, freedom and Saturn/Uranus

Today we remember that 25 years ago the European communist regimes started to fall with the Berlin Wall to begin with. Here is the chart for that moment. Watch Saturn conjunct Neptune (detachment, mostly involuntary and in this case: the end (Saturn) of an ideology (Neptune)).

Very much in line with the event is the horizon. Ascendant conjunct Ceres (the importance of dynasty, genes, family) and opposite Saturn/Uranus midpoint (the midpoint of restricted liberty and the rebellion against it). 

Saturn/Uranus midpoint is now sesquisquare my Sun. A little black dog is sort of restricting my liberty, while I sometimes have to limit hers. See her protest below! And think of it: circumstances (political, economical, social) are the key to the way and the degree of restricted liberty. Mine is rather nice and probably temporarily. Hers will be less strict when she knows where to pee. And that is how transits go by. For many people in the world there is no freedom on the horizon. But it was on November 9, 25 years ago, for the people of the communist part of Germany.

Saturn Scorpio - Pluto Capricorn and the elderly

In a lot of Western countries the situation of the elderly used to be better than ever before in history. up to now. Unlike the old and ill in history those who were too old to take care of themselves didn't have to depend on children, church or donations. They didn't have to take a blanket and die alone on an icy mountain. They were take  care off by the state.  Pluto in Capricorn and Saturn in Scorpio are symbols of state finance. Now that Pluto is in Capricorn states can't afford to have debts any more. Can they still afford to provide for the elderly?

In my country the State pension for all elderly (regardless of their income or possessions) started in 1956, with Saturn in Scorpio in a narrow square with Pluto in Leo. That was an important moment in history for the elderly and their children. They were liberated. There was less to worry about. Of course, you had to pay (Pluto) taxes (Saturn)...

Most companies also joined a pension fund for their employees. Some of the companies even offered free retirement funds and an early retirement at age 57!

Meanwhile, people got older and older. The generations born after World War II got less children than ever before. They were not needed for future care anymore and the world -including Europe - was overcrowded, they said, in the 60/70's.

We all had a good life and good prospects until the crisis. Technology would conquer and win! We might even live forever in prosperity.

Now, with Saturn in Scorpio in mutual reception with Pluto in Capricorn they start arguiging about when to retire and about what the elderly should be given.

When in 1956 the first 65+ men and women were enabled to live on their own, people were not against the fact that they had to pay for them. There was more and more money to be earned and the future was bright. Now we see depression all around. Those under the age of 40 fear about their old age and their future and a controversy between the grandparents and grandchildren or parents and children seems to be on the way. When the man or woman aged 40 will be 65+ there will be even less children to provide for them and they will still be paying for the 85+...

There was no problem when there was enough money, but ... this money was invested the wrong way and the governments and employers took away money from the funds in the good years. So now we have a problem (Pluto) with the elderly (Capricorn) that is in fact an economical crisis and political failure of governments without a policy that looked ahead for more than their four years caused all this.
There is no time for taking the old men and women outside, no time for a talk or a walk. And politicians point at family (even if there isn't any and even if the family has to work harder and longer than ever). They must do it. We are back at the starting point. When Saturn is conjunct Pluto, in January 2020, will financing old age start all over again, another way? I'll have to find out more about Saturn conjunct Pluto in history to see what happened. However...

Just like with shares results of the past are no guarantee for the future... That is because the world of the past is not THIS world and the symbol of Pluto in Capricorn differs from history.  I wonder how the situation for the elderly was in the days of Pluto in Capricorn in history.

The 'guess what' chart of a nobleman

This 'guess what' chart (without hour of birth) shows a pattern and tells us about the resonation of planets that we haven't even discovered, yet. The patterns: Saturn-Uranus and Uranus-Pluto and Mars-Neptune. Neptune, Uranus and Pluto were unknown to the 16th century astrologer or astronomer. But as you will see, they were there...Here is the chart.

The event date is June 15, 1568, at the beginning of the so called '80 years of war' of protestant Holland against catholic Spain..
The story is well known in my country (well, not everybody knows, but it is part of history). It is the story of two noblemen (Counts of towns in Holland). They were Roman Catholics and devoted to their religion. What do you think that happened on the specific day in the life of this Count?

A LITTLE HELP...
A. As always, it is important to have a look at the natal chart first. This man was born with Sun in Scorpio. Mars was rising before the Sun. That is typical for someone with a drive, someone who acts (first).

C. Think of the 16th century in Europe (or think of the Tudors ). Combine this with the nature of the natal chart and the transits and progressions.

E. In the natal chart below you see Mars opposite Neptune. In the progressed chart of the event date, you see transit Neptune opposition progressed Mars. Followers of this blog know that I like to point at the special effect of the transit that is sort of repeating the natal aspect. It is not a faint resonation at all. The effect of such a transit or progression is stronger than all other transits or progressions.
F. I almost forgot to mention transit Saturn inconjunct Saturn. They say that it is a generational aspect, but this person has a tight Sun-Saturn square.

Mars opposition Neptune....Cafe Astrology says a true thing about this aspect, as you will see when you find out what happened.

What did this count do or what happened in the time that he had Progressed Sun conjunct Pluto and sesquisquare Uranus with transit Neptune opposition Progressed Mars?

Here are a few possible solutions:
1. He chopped of the head of a rebel against Spain and he shouldn't have done that. Later he was found guilty of murder and he spent the rest of his life in his own prison.
2. He was arrested by the Duque de Alba and beheaded in spite of his loyalty to the church and the king of Spain.
3. He lost his freedom when he was forced to marry a Spanish Countess, Margarita de Alba.
4. He was asked to come to Brussel to see the Prince of Orange (William). William had him on trial for his loyalty to the Spanish king.
5. The Duque of Alba confiscated his property and he was forced to leave the country.

You probably will have a problem to select the exact answer, but I am sure that you will have a pretty good idea! You choose. Or you read the answer here on Wikipedia. This is the statue of the man:

Chart of the first man in space: Yuri Gagarin

Now that the world remembers that it was 40 years ago that people landed on the moon, it is also time to remember Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space. He was launched on April 12, 1961 with transit Mars trine his natal Sun. He returned safely, but died young in an aircrash after a period of fame and being a sort of an ambassador for Russia (Venus is 'calling' and prominently placed on the Ascendant!).

Yuri Gagarin had an Aquarius Ascendant with a Sagittarius Midheaven and Moon in this chart (data from Astrotheme.fr). The rules (Uranus and Jupiter) were in opposition. His Midheaven is half semi square Sun/Jupiter and 112.5 degrees from Sun/Uranus. Jupiter is septile Midheaven, Uranus is sesquisquare Midheaven. The combination of Jupiter and Uranus is always present in the charts of astronauts (see 'Landing on the Moon').

Losers and winners of the battle of Waterloo

This post is about Mars-Pluto and the Battle of Waterloo (June 18, 1815), with the charts of Napoleon (with hour of birth), Wellington and Von Blücher.

NAPOLEON
The timing of the battle of Waterloo (Belgium) on June 18, 1815 seemed to have been alright for Napoleon. He had a progressed chart with Jupiter on the Ascendant! Fact is, that he WAS supported and managed to raise an army of followers. But, (and astrologers of those days didn't have a clue about that), there was a difficult aspect with Pluto, inconjunct his Sun, reflecting a will to win at all costs, and the price to pay for it... And transit Uranus was square his progressed Midheaven. It was time for a dramatic and unexpected change.

Fact is that shortly before the battle Mars had been conjunct Pluto. As Mars is the symbol of the military and war and Pluto symbolizes force and intensity, the chart perfectly reflects a heavy battle. Mars and Pluto had been inconjunct the natal Sun of Napoleon not long before the battle. The combination forced him (Pluto) to defend himself (Mars-Pluto) in a disproportionate way. A whole army indeed is rather disproportionate!;) Napoleon had a tight Mars trine Pluto in his natal chart (but he didn't know about it, of course). So the transits activated an existing planet combination in the natal chart. That increases the effect! In the progressed chart of Napoleon Mars is approaching a square with Pluto. That shows us that he had to keep on defending himself AFTER the battle (...).

Before and after the battle transit Uranus had been square Napoleon's progressed Midheaven, showing unpleasant changes in his position.
Napoleon had tow aspects of changing times (Uranus with MC, Pluto with Sun; a revolution going on). Jupiter was on his site. But the enemies were stronger (Pluto).

WELLINGTON
There is no hour of birth available for the Duke of Wellington. But we know that transit Saturn was square the natal Sun of the Duke of Wellington, the man who succeeded in defeating the army of Napoleon (with the help of the armies of several nations, of course). Had there been an astrologer around, would he have thought that Wellesley would win the battle with this transit? Wellington had a great responsibility. It was a heavy day. The troops of Wellington had lost, if the Prussian army had not come for their help.
VON BLÜCHER
Von Blücher, the Prussian general, had Sun in Sagittarius and Moon in Leo and he was known for his fiery character. The Mars-Pluto conjunction of Waterloo is exactly square Von Blücher's natal Sun. It is a day for a battle to win, a challenge. Also his progressed Mars is quindecile transit Pluto for a very strong focus on winning a battle! The Mars-Pluto quintile in the natal chart offers the possibility of a creative way to win a battle! The Mars-Pluto conjunction of the day of the battle challenged him like it challenged Napoleon.


HERO AND LOSER
On June 22nd Napoleon stepped back and gave up, entering the final years of his life with transit Pluto inconjunct Sun (for surviving, but...), transit Saturn square Uranus (he lost his freedom again) and inconjunct Mars (for the end of the battle and the energy). Both winners of the battle had a progressed Sun trine (progressed) Neptune in the year to come. Perhaps THAT is demonstrating 'being the hero' (being seen in an idealistic light)?

(PS Is it just coincidence that Blücher's first rising outer planet is Pluto and Wellington's is Uranus? And that Napoleon had to deal with transits of Uranus and Pluto?)
