Chart of the late Robin Williams

Robin Williams, a talented and beloved movie star, died yesterday. It was:

1. when the progressed Sun had entered the final degree of Virgo (about to change sign).
It means that life or lifestyle is about to change. The period before and just after the changing sign of the progressed sun is an unstable period.

2. when progressed Mars was exactly on his natal MC. Mars is in the natal 8th house of crisis (life and death)
In the natal chart Mars is rising before the Sun. It is a position for an activist, for a do-er, for someone who is not likely to sit back and wait for the good times.

3. with transit Saturn on the midpoint Ascendant/Midheaven and almost conjunct Sun/Moon midpoint. Saturn's crucial and highlighted position marks endings, setbacks, depressions...

4. when the retrograding transit Pluto had been (again) opposition natal Mars and Uranus (and was on the midpoint Mars/Uranus); the Mars-Uranus-Pluto combination is about crisis.

5. with progressed Ascendant semi square the natal Sun/Moon midpoint and highlighted his situation.

6. with progressed Ascendant also quindecile (165 degree aspect) Pluto, for a focus on the planet of stress and crisis

6. when progressed Mercury ruler 8 was moving to an inconjunct with Jupiter. Mercury-Jupiter is the combination of successful decisions, but an inconjunct in between speaks of lost balance and loss.

7. with transit Mercury ruler 8 on natal Midheaven

8. and it happened to be a transit Sun conjunct Pluto day for Robin Williams. Those days are more complicated and dangerous than other days are. (As my site Astromarkt has been hacked, I can't link to the article about solar transits and the nature of the days, sorry.)

9. Progressed MC quindecile Jupiter doesn't seem to fit in the list, but there is often a Jupiter aspect involved when a person dies. Maybe because Jupiter is the planet of the great voyage... See 'Jupiter when you die': http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/08/jupiter-when-you-die.html

10. The important transit of Saturn had been over his Ascendant and was in the first natal house. Transits of Saturn are often depressing and force you to face the facts of life.

Also, the solar return chart for Chicago (place of birth) has Saturn on Midheaven. It might just be coincidence, of course.

On important moments in life, we use to see a lot of transits and progressions. The list above shows the amount of them on August 11, 2014. At least 5 of the above mentioned points are related to the 8th house of death, but still this wouldn't have to mirror the end of life. Astrology, like statistics, doesn't work the other way around. And it takes a natal chart to start with.

Robin Williams' natal chart has an usual pattern of artistic talent compared to the artists on my site Art&Astrology. The sensitive and amorphous Moon in Pisces opposition the planet of art, Venus is in a way (as Pisces is the 'house sign' of Neptune) a variation on the theme Moon-Venus-Neptune. Leo MC is for the star. The culminating Mercury tells us about the importance of communications. He 'quickly mastered dialects', says Wikipedia and Mercury's prominence mirrors that. Mars rising before the Sun and Out of Bounds is in line with the fact that he was called 'hyperactive' when he was young. The inconjunct of Sun and Chiron shows us that there is something wrong and healing was needed (from the start).

Chart of Benedict XVI: the day after

Yesterday the papacy of Benedict XVI ended by abdication. Here you see three charts of Benedict XVI: the natal chart with transits, solar return 2012 and: natal and progressed together. Transits and progressions clearly mirror the kind of change in the life of the now ex-pope. I'll show you how.

Natal and progressed positions Benedict 16t

1. In the progressed chart we see Pluto on the Ascendant, exactly. The Ascendant is the symbol of the situation (your view on the world outside) and … of the name. Pluto is the symbol of transformation, value, authority, stress, challenge, issues of life and death and change. There is hardly a better symbol than Pluto-Ascendant to describe what happened yesterday. Pluto also may refer to (too much) pressure. As Pluto is the ruler of the 8th house and positioned in the 4th this is a symbol of final issues (like this one) and a possible indication for the danger of death. I read that he recently had fysical problems.

2. Progressed Neptune is exactly trine natal Sun. That is a beautiful description of realizing a dream and the start of a period of seclusion. It is the kind of aspect that smoothly accompanies the start of a period of withdrawal (like when you step back).

3. Transit Pholus semi square the natal AC/MC marks a rather frustrating key turning point.

4. The solar return of his birthday in 2012 (valid until the next birthday in 2013) has Sun opposition Saturn. Afflicted Sun-Saturn moments are moments of discontinuation, ends and... goodbyes.

Two times symbols of change, one time symbol of an ending and the symbol of a smooth start of a more isolated way of life are about enough for a man of his age. But after I published this, I realized that there is even more, like:
- transit Uranus sesquisquare progressed Mars
- Jupiter novile progressed Sun (rejoycing positive change)
- Neptune transit quindecile progressed IC (weakness, basically)
- transit Uranus trine Saturn (breaking free)

I don't really know what to make of Progressed Mars trine Ceres. Ceres is an important figure in his chart and represents motherhood (or the holy mother figure). He said that he will continue to work for the (mother)church.

On Transit Mars inconjunct Progressed Mars you can see the energy drain of the final days of the papacy.

Sun/Moon midpoint combinations with Node, Ascendant and Midheaven

In the last couple of days I have written a lot about midpoint combinations of Sun/Moon. I haven't mentioned the midpoint combinations with Northern Node, Ascendant and Midheaven, yet. They are illustrating that someone is being motivated by others (Node: family, community) or the situation and environment (Ascendant) or by the condition/status (MC).

When you have a combination of Sun/Moon/Node in your chart your are connected to others with heart and soul and much of what you want to do in life is related to your family, party, community or country. For example, the Spanish King Juan Carlos has Sun conjunct Moon/Node. With Sun/Moon/Ascendant you tend  to come out and show the modus vivendi of your group and the others motivate you to present yourself as one of them.
With Sun/Moon/Midheaven you are a public figure, a person who displays a certain way of living to the public, like Stephanie Grimaldi of Monaco, for example.

Those combinations of Sun/Moon with Ascendant and Midheaven are the most personal combinations. When you have Sun/Moon in hard aspect with AC/MC the importance of your situation and condition is highlighted. It takes a correct time of birth for the AC/MC and Sun/Moon combinations.

Northern Node/AC/MC midpoint combinations

When there is a midpoint combination of Node, Ascendant and Midheaven the family, nation or community put their marks on your situation and personality and define your destination. Or: the situation of a group of people (family, tribe, nation) depends on you. This combination occurs in the chart of John F. Kennedy and evil doctor Mengele. The Kennedy's of course influenced the career of JFK and Mengele was one of many Nazi's. The combination just means that you are associated with people who share your goals or that you share the goals of a group of persons.

There are various ways to link the Northern Node to Midheaven. Barack Obama for example has Node square Midheaven.

Larry King's transits for the final show

Larry King had his final show yesterday with about 10 progressions and transits telling us that he wants to relax, that there is a change in position and that he is breaking free, and more...There was a 'Larry King Live' from June 3, 1985. How difficult this must be for him…Larry King has the midpoint Sun/Moon sesquisquare Uranus. That means that he is very much motivated by what is new, like for example: news…

With AC/MC in hard aspect with Neptune, he might remain a myth. So it will be difficult for Piers Morgan to compare with the memory of Larry King. There is a strong connection between their charts, of course: there a strong connection between what they do*).

Sun/Moon and AC/MC combinations

Yesterday's post was about the transits and progressions with Sun/Moon midpoint. Sun/Moon midpoint is what it says that it is: the midpoint between Sun and Moon. Ascendant/Midheaven (AC/MC) is another important midpoint. It is the crosspoint of meridian and horizon, the very spot on earth uses for calculating the chart. The angular positions (positions on Ascendant or the meridian - MC or IC -) are prominent positions. The planets on those positions have great impact on the Astrological ID. They show up like special marks do. Any aspect with Sun/Moon or AC/MC is an important aspect. These aspects show more about the nature of a person's motivation and the vital importance of a chart. 

BTW Sun/Moon and Ascendant/Midheaven can't be calculated without knowing the hour and place of a birth. Those who don't know the hour of birth could have a look at the post about Zero Aries. Continue for the combinations of Sun/Moon and AC/MC.

Why Larry King goes on and on...

Larry King is in the news because of his announcement to stop his television shows. Here is the progressed chart with transits of Larry King, the man who wants to live when he ends “Larry King live”. 

Why now? a. In the progressed chart the Midheaven opposition Pluto (ruler 7^th house of marriage) says that someone else or a situation (opposition) demands (Pluto) changes in the career. b. Larry King also has progressed Sun trine natal Jupiter, a good sign for retirement (and reflecting the recent 25-year jubilation). c. Progressed Moon is exactly square Pholus: an emotional or private turning point.

He is 76. Why only now? And why doesn't it mean full retirement? Well…here are 6 good reasons.

1. MARS IS ' CALLING HIM' TO DO SOMETHING!

His Mars doesn’t make a major aspect in sign or orb 5 degrees. That means a prominent (‘calling’) Mars. An unaspected planet works like someone who is conspicuous in absence: he is here, there and everywhere. An unaspected Mars might indicate the workaholic: energy at any kind of level, working (somehow and anyhow). Mars is also strong in Capricorn and square Aries Point. Mars rules his third house (communications) and is in the 12^th house (the media).

(BTW, see how transit Uranus is now square his ‘ calling’ Mars and progressed Mars is sextile natal Mars. Transit Jupiter and Uranus square in early June might have been helping to come to this decision.)

2. TENTH HOUSE SUN: CAREER IS THE CENTER OF IT ALL

The Sun in the 10^th house practically lives for the world outside, achievement and ‘ output’, drawing attention and being known. It is difficult to quit your job when your job is the thing you live for. That is why Larry stops on screen, but continues behind the screens.

3. MOTIVATION: NEWS AND POLITICS

The Sun/Moon midpoint is in hard aspect with Uranus and Pluto. He is motivated by improvisation, by sudden changes and by impulses. That is what keeps him going (and what made him change partner so frequently). He needs to be stimulated by news and politics...

4. THE WORLD ON TELE IS HIS WORLD

The midpoint AC/MC is square Neptune, symbol of the media and television and everything else that you can’t really touch (the immaterial world). 

5. MOON INCONJUNCT PLUTO: FANATIC HABITS

There is a need to convince, publish and/or travel exactly trine Uranus (need for excitement and news) and inconjunct Pluto.

The Moon inconjunct Pluto is likely to have domestic or emotional problems and challenges. The Moon rules Larry Kings’s 7^th house of marriage and Pluto is in the seventh house…We have all read about his present marriage problems. (BTW This Moon ruler 7 inconjunct Pluto in 7 and semi square Saturn (ruler 1) is an astrological sing for divorces. This and…Jupiter in Libra square the horizon and the tight square between Venus – angular - and this Jupiter. Jupiter is the planet of more, Venus is of love.) Venus-Jupiter prominent explains the multitude of marriages and …the popularity of Larry King.

6. SATURN (in first house) SQUARE MC: AMBITION

That is an interesting aspect in his natal chart. Often Saturn-Midheaven aspect refer to an untimely end of the career or at the bad sides of a certain position (public fall, for example). Business is hard with such an aspect and hierarchy/seniority is of importance in the working field or position. He started late with the Larry King Live shows and did it for 25 years. Maybe in his eyes: 25 years only?:)) Fact is that Larry King had a poor start and lost his father at young age. He quit school and started working to earn some money. It took a long time to reach to the top. Here is his chart with today's transits and progressions.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

You see that Saturn square Midheaven doesn’t necessarily mean that you have little chances in life. Maybe sometimes a sober start, limitations or restrictions just fill you with ambition.  Examples like Larry King, Gordon Brown  and George W. Bush  show that ambition. And the intention to be taken seriously.
