In my blog Art & Astrology I mentioned the chart of Salvador Dali. His chart is an example of the influencial progressed chart. The progressed chart is the chart for the xth day after birth, valid for the xth year after birth. The progressed chart tells us about the course of life, how we change, develop and get chances (or not). The birth chart gives the tools and the progressed chart shows the way. The progressed chart of Salvador Dali had Mercury conjunct Venus when the progressed Sun changed sign in 1929. His life changed when somebody came to teach him how to draw!
The chart of Salvador Dali made me think about finding the best profession for a person at a certain age. Because people develope and change and some of us change late. Maybe too late to make a fresh new start, but sometimes the change was more gradual and only adding experience or a new style. Salvador Dali was thought how to draw and he had basic talents. He had the right stimulating teacher, he was encouraged into the right direction and trained to get skilled. And later he went to the right place to be part of the 'scene'.
In the earlier post about Obama's progressed chart you can see how his chart in progression shows the statesman that is not that obvious in the natal chart. In fact, you can WATCH Obama grow into the position of President each day. On the other hand, some potential that originaly existed at birth might have vanished through the years, of course.
People grow, people get educated and change and at a certain point in life they are READY and fit for the job they were ment for. Salvador Dali's initial artistic talents were illustrated by Venus end dispositor of the Midheaven in Taurus, sextile Neptune and that was all. But when a friend of his father started educating him and teaching him to draw, in his progressed chart Mercury and Venus had come together for 'art classes' and his progressed Sun sign changed. So did his life!
When he went to Paris in 1929 his progressed MC changed sign to Taurus!
So again, the progressed chart is of importance and gives information about a person's goals and interests as they were influenced by others and by circumstances AFTER birth. Maybe your initial chart (the birth chart) is not enough to be what you wanted to be, but maybe your progressed chart adds just what you need. Be on the lookout for it!

Chart of Buddy Holly, September 7, 1936
Buddy Holly was one of the earliest pop idols and born
on September 7, 1936. He died, too young, in an air crash. This blog is about his chart, transits and progressions.
MARS+URANUS: Hurry
There are
indications for possible accidents in the natal chart. Transits resonated those
indications on his final day, when he was in a hurry, on tour, and decided to
take a plane instead of a (slow and old) bus.
Mars and Uranus are the combination of the
'short fuse' and accelerates speed. In the chart of Buddy Holly, Mars and
Uranus are prominent. Here is the chart (transits and progressions for the day of his death):
1. Mars
Mars rises before his Sun, is in the 8th house and
rules the 4th house.
Mars is inconjunct Saturn (ruler 1)
2. Uranus is 'calling' (not making major aspects in
sign or orb 5 degrees).
Uranus is square Mars/Pluto.
The importance of Mars and Uranus qualifies the importance of being in a hurry.
MARS-SATURN
A besides about Mars-Saturn: I recently 'survived' transit Saturn inconjunct Progressed Mars. My Mars is
'calling' (my progressed Mars is not). It have been days of a tetanus injection
and antibiotics because of infection, and I have seen the doctor more than
once, but I didn't die (obviously:). More important: nobody in my family died.
Mars and Saturn are trine in my chart (out of sign). They are not related to
the 4th or 8th house.
I quote Art&Astrology (blog about the talent in the chart):
On the day of his death, transit Saturn was sesquisquare his Mars (frustrating end of energy) and at the moment of the crash transit Uranus was 75 degrees from his midheaven (a shock), with transit Neptune septile Sun and biquintile Moon (perhaps unconsciousness). These are not uncommon aspects. But in HIS chart Mars happened to be an important symbol of death, being activated too soon.
DEATH
Here above is the
chart of Buddy Holly, with transits and progressions for the final day. There
are a number of tight aspects. Some are an indication of what happened. We see Mars-Saturn (dead end), 8th house (life and death) and 4th house. Three of those tight aspects are related to the 8th house. Two of them to the 4th house. Mars-Saturn is already indicating a possible end of energy. The combination of Pluto, Mars and Saturn shows the danger of death. There are 4 aspects between planets, lights or objects making aspects in the natal chart, too. Those are strong aspects.
Big events take at leats 3 or more important transits and progressions. Accidents are most often complicated and caused by more than 1 simple mistake or failure. As you see, it takes a lot of transits and progressions to mark the end of the life of a 22 year old artist...And there are at least 4 strong indications of danger. The 3 inconjunctions complete the picture of loss. Here is the list.
- Transit Neptune is semi sextile Progressed Sun and 15 degrees from Progressed Midheaven. In the natal chart Neptune is in the 8th house of life and death and Neptune is conjunct Sun (also in the 8th house
- Transit Chiron is square Progressed Midheaven
- Transit Saturn is within 1 degree orb inconjunct Progressed Ascendant and transit Pluto is inconjunct Ascendant (orb 17 minutes). The midpoint of Saturn and Pluto is square Progressed Ascendant
- Transit Jupiter is inconjunct IC (cusp 4th house). Jupiter rules the 12th house of undoing and is the symbol of traveling. In the natal chart Jupiter is semi square Midheaven.
- Transit Uranus is 75 degrees from natal Midheaven. Uranus is in the 4th house (natal)
- Progressed Sun is semi square Progressed Midheaven. Sun rules the 8th house. In the natal chart Sun is semi square Midheaven
- Transit Pluto is on the midpoint Mars/Saturn and in the 8th house.
- And last but not least:Transit Saturn is sesquisquare natal Mars (in the 8th house). Mars is inconjunct Saturn in the natal chart
PHOLUS
One more
thing: Pholus is on the Ascendant in the natal chart and Pholus is novile the
Midheaven. The midpoint AC/MC is semi square Pholus. Pholus is the symbol of
the turning point. He had a turbulent and short life. But he is also a legend. On Astromarkt I wrote about AC/MC with Pholus:
- AC/MC with Pholus
The importance of polls, looking back and retrospective results
He had a contract in 1956
(transit Neptune conjunct Midheaven and Progressed Sun soon conjunct Venus,
progressed Midheaven square Mars, Progressed Ascendant inconjunct Mars and
almost opposition Uranus). The prominent Mars and Uranus were 'hit', just like
when he died on tour in 1959. Here is the chart, transits and progressions of Buddy Holly for January 1956.

Coco Chanel in love and war
Lisa Chaney writes in ‘An intimate life’ about the relationship
of Coco Chanel with a German officer in war time, during the occupation of
France. It is not the first time, but again it is news. That might be the reason why
transit Uranus is square her progressed Sun now (upheaval). The Sun-Uranus ('Aurora') aspect is also the link between her chart and that of her younger lover, Hans Gunther
von Dincklage, born December 15, 1896 (his Saturn square her Sun). Most women who had enemy lovers faced an ordeal after war, but Coco was arrested and soon released (for unknown reasons). She went to Switzerland. She has Jupiter, in the 7th house, rising before her Sun for an international orientation when it comes to partners.
![]() |
| Synastry between Coco and Hans |
The famous lady of fashion and the enemy officer were an unusual couple. His Uranus is square her Sun. Her Uranus
is square his Sun. I wrote about the Aurora-effect
in Sun-Uranus synastry on Astrology&Love:
“…But, what if the partner is considered to be the ‘key to
freedom’ in the eyes of the other? What if the partner ‘woke up’ his
lover after a long, long and boring sleep?” and “Some persons want to have a
different kind of life (than their parents had, for example) and – not
deliberately - choose the less resembling partner, the complete stranger,
to liberate and alienate themselves from their backgrounds. How long could this
have been going on? Until 'liberation day', of course.” Their Venus are 165 degrees apart. Venus quindecile Venus shows an obsessive love...
![]() |
| Natal, transit and progression in 1941 |
Her chart shows that there is a possibility of an affair starting in 1941. When she met him, in 1941, her Progressed Venus conjunct
Midheaven reveals the love theme, but there was more. Progressed Sun square
Jupiter and Transit Saturn inconjunct Midheaven and Ascendant show progress
(she sold her products to the Nazi’s) and a crucial fault (see: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/article6027932.ece
about her in war time). In the Art&Astrology post about Audrey Tautou, who played the role of Coco
Chanel once, I wrote about the talent in the chart of Miss Chanel:
“ Coco Chanel had other kind of talents. She was able to lead a company. She started her career with an affair with a very rich man, while working at a tailoring shop. Maybe that is why Mars (men) is crucial in her chart? Another important planet is Jupiter. Jupiter is the first outer planet rising before the Sun. And last but not least there is Pluto. Pluto does not make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. That makes Pluto important, the 'calling' planet. We see Mars, Jupiter and Pluto prominently placed in her chart. The combination of Mars, Jupiter and PLuto is an indication for a lot of energy and enterprise and a sign for success. Besides:
1. Moon is in Pisces for sense for 'la mode', fashion
2. Venus is square Neptune for artistic talents
3. Libra is on Midheaven for a career related to style and diplomacy
4. Uranus and Pluto are related to ASC/MC, signifying crucial and dramatic changes in life
5. Pluto is related to Sun/Moon and Pluto is in the 5th house of creations and fun
6. Jupiter is exactly conjunct Mercury/Pluto, for successful communications
7. Mars is exactly conjunct Jupiter/Pluto, confirming the crucial placements of Mars, Jupiter and Pluto (for successful enterpreneur)
There is one important thing in this chart that points at fashion (or any other branche related to the basic needs of menkind, like clothes, food, having someone to take care of you as a child and edcution). And that is the Moon. The Moon is the first planet that will be 'hit' by the Ascendant on the day of birth. The Moon is standing apart from the other positions in the chart. “NOT MARRIED
Recently I wrote about bachelors and Virgo. There is no Virgo in
the chart of Coco Chanel, except for the ruler of the 7th house. The
Black Moon is on the Midheaven. Funny thing is, that Lilith is the mythical 'runaway
bride' of Adam and that she never married. But she may have had a long lasting
and late relationship with Von Dincklage. I find it interesting that she never
married and yet has Jupiter in the 7th house. There is no key for
marriage or divorce, except that Jupiter in the 7th house and Sun sextile Mars shows that she is independent enough to be her own 'man'. Jupiter
represents the ‘lot of’ , ‘more’, ‘social improvement’ and ‘international’ or
‘traveller’. She went to Switzerland, probably with her German lover.
In 1956 she returned
with transit Neptune conjunct Midheaven (and that is the symbol of isolation). The
French didn’t want her back then. But her success in the USA eventually made
everybody forget about the war.
All is fair in love and war, they say. Did And Coco Chanel knew all about that?
Here is the chart with transits and progressions for now (Uranus and P MC with Pluto mirror, even after death, that there is 'stress' around her and her reputation).

Willy de Ville (Mink de Ville) August 6, 2009
I am a fan of Mink de Ville's Coup de Grace and that is why it disturbed me that when the singer, Willy de Ville, died on August 6, 2009 there was no day of birth so that I couldn't really mention it on a blog like this. Now Wikipedia mentions August 25, 1950 and that explains my admiration. It is with his Sun opposition my Jupiter...Here is his chart with transits and progressions for the day that he died.
The pattern of artistic talent is as follows: Moon opposition Venus and trine Neptune, Venus sextile Neptune. As there is no hour of birth, that is all. When he died it was with the progressed Sun about to change sign to Scorpio. When a progressed Sun changes sign, your life(style) changes and sometimes people die when their progressed Sun moves to another sign. He also had transit Saturn square progressed Mars (the 'dead end' aspect).
Willy de Ville had pancreas cancer.
One of his most appreciated songs is 'Love and emotion'. Moon opposition Venus is the aspect of love and emotion. I also like 'Just give me one good reason' and Moon in Aquarius (the all too reasonable sign for loving emotions).

This is one of the best read posts of this blog, by mistake. People landed on this post when they were searching for the difference between astrological sunsigns (based upon the seasons) and the astronomical ones.

Best seller writers' charts
How to be a best seller writer like for example J.K.
Rowling, now in the news with Pottermore? It takes more than the chart (the right time and place and editor, for example), but what chart is the best? You are to late to change your time and place of birth but you are still in time to see if at least your chart has the same qualities as the three million selling authors Agatha Christie, Barbara Cartland and J.K. Rowling. Today it is Mercury trine Neptune and that is good for story telling (mixing facts and fantasy or communicating fiction). Those who were born today won't have problems with inventing tales. Here is a story about 3 writers and what their charts tell us.
REQUIRED...
Lots of people want to be a famous writer and
trillions of concepts and scripts are never to be published or sold. Apparently
it takes more than the ability to write to become a million selling writer like
JK Rowling! Unlike singers you need not to be beautiful. But you need fantasy,
sense of 'what people want to read', the right publisher (who takes time to
read your book), a great idea, originality, education (...) and writing skills and if
you have all that: LUCK. That is why you need a good Jupiter (for luck),
Mercury (for writing), Venus (for style), Neptune (for fantasy)... You also
need to be patient, waiting for the right moment to launch your script. It is
rather complicated...The qualities (communicating skills, style and more) can
be used in many other professions, too. So Neptune, the planet of fiction, must be very important in the charts of people with such an overwhelming fantasy.
WRITERS' CHARTS
Charts of writers are not alike at all. They are
as different as their books and the examples on this blog were not born in the
same generation. But maybe there are some things that those famous writers have
in common...even if they write about different things. I found this:
- a prominent Mercury (for example 'calling' = no
aspects within orb 5 degrees or within sign; for example conjunct Sun/Moon or
both)
- pattern of professional artistic talent
(aspects between Moon, Venus, Neptune, the signs Taurus, Libra, Cancer and
Pisces, with direct or indirect connection to Midheaven
- keys to success (aspect-and midpoint
combinations with Jupiter, prominence of Jupiter) and possibly important: Moon
with Pholus and Jupiter
- Neptune, of course
- ...and a surprise: Moon with Jupiter and Pholus
Of course I have examples.
1. AGATHA CHRISTIE was born on September 15, 1890
in Torquay at 4:30 a.m. At that moment Saturn (ruler 5th house) was rising,
Neptune and Pluto were elevated and Mercury didn't make any aspect at all. She
wrote (Mercury!!!) about solving mysteries (Neptune/Pluto). But let's stick to
the pattern of the million selling writer:
- Mercury is calling (and biquintile Midheaven)
- Full pattern of artistic talent (Neptune
conjunct MC, trine Moon in Libra and inconjunct Venus)
- Moon tightly trine Jupiter and opposition
Pholus
Neptune is elevated in her chart (conjunct
Midheaven).
2. BARBARA CARTLAND
Another million seller of quite a different kind
of books (romance) is Barbara Cartland.
- Mercury is also calling in her chart! Sun/Moon
is semi square Mercury (motivated to write, at any possible level.
- Neptune is sextile Moon and semi quintile Venus
(but I don't see the direct connection with MC....though there is
Venus/Neptune(romance) is in hard aspect with AC/MC (the crosspoint of time and
place) and Jupiter conjunct Midheaven is in in aspect with Moon, Venus and
Neptune)
- Moon 112.5 d Jupiter (=square+ half semi
square) and square Pholus
Neptune rises before Barbara Carland’s sun…
3. JK ROWLING
An Astro ID tells us about the most prominent and
interesting placements and positions. In the chart of JK Rowling they are for
Merucy, Venus, Sun (all three 'calling') and Jupiter (the planet rising before
the Sun). You see:
- Mercury calling! Mercury doesn't make any
aspect in sign or orb 5 degrees: communications at any possible level (Venus NA
(the conjunction with Uranus is >5d): style at any possible level and Sun is
'calling', too...:drawing attention at any possible level)
- There is also Neptune biquintile Jupiter and
quintile Venus with Venus 75d Jupiter,
indication for possible success in art or love
- Jupiter rises before the Sun and is semi square
Sun, pointing at positivism, the international, being convincing and self
confidence.
- Moon square Jupiter and inconjunct Pholus
The time of birth of JKR is unknown, but it would
be great if she was born at 10:55 a.m. with Sun/Moon conjunct Mercury, Moon
with Jupiter/Uranus and Jupiter/Pluto, A/M with Neptune and the Midheaven in
Cancer sextile Venus, sesquisquare Neptune and in minor aspect with the Moon.
Earlier JKR revealed that she had a period of
depression and I contributed that to Moon opposition Saturn and conjunct
Pluto.(see that blog: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2008/03/jk-rowling-survived-depression.html)
Lately, JK Rowling started a new site with
Progressed Sun about to square Jupiter. Whatever she will do, it may be
great...In the natal chart there is also a Sun-Jupiter combination, so this
progression is resonating the natal aspect and having greater 'effect'. It will
increase her confidence.
If she was born at 10:55 am Neptune would be of
crucial importance (square AC/MC) and the ‘force’ that motivates her
(Sun/Moon/Neptune combination: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2011/05/sunmoonneptune-midpoint-combinations.html)
4. Three examples is not enough for statistics. For some more writers (like Celine, Stephen King, Jorge
Luis Borges, Vaclav Havel (playwright):

Saturn and Lars von Trier
Saturn is the planet of criticism and the punishment for mistakes. A good example is the chart of Lars von Trier, who choose this astrological period and that place and moment to joke about Nazi's:
In an interview he said that he understood Hitler. Now he is 'persona non grata' at the film festival of Cannes, although his (nominated) movie 'Melancholia' (...) still has a chance to win the Golden Palm. That won't be a pleasure for this Moon in Capricorn.
Saturn is the symbol of restrictions and inconjuntions almost always mean loss. Saturn+Uranus = restricted freedom. Saturn+Neptune with Mercury might refer to sick jokes. And than we have Saturn inconjunct Mars (dead ends). Saturn is the apex of the Yod with progressed Mars and natal Sun (and Progressed Mars is sextile natal Sun). Mars-Saturn apparently mirrors a disciplinary act (maybe a bit disproportional). Mercury and Mars with Saturn is reflecting nasty discussions. Uranus square Sun causes upheaval. Moreover: Saturn inconjunct Sun is an unfortunate combination of being blamed or criticised (and punished, too).
Those are 5 hard aspect combinations. That is more than 3 and that is usually enough for something important to happen. Lars von Trier managed to be the first 'persona non grata' of the Cannes festival. There are more persons born on April 30, 1956, of course. But they don't all have an interview and their hours of birth make a difference.
So let's say that Lars von Trier didn't actually have a great timing. Saturn happens to be the symbol of timing, too...
In 2000 in Cannes he won. That is when the progressed Sun was sextile Jupiter and transit Jupiter and Saturn where square Jupiter. There is more Jupiter than Saturn in the astrological picture of 2000. That is the difference.
BTW In the natal chart the Sun is square Mars and Mercury is in a strong opposition with Saturn. When natal aspect combinations are being repeated by transit or progressions, there is great impact. Another interesting aspect combination is Mars conjunct Pholus. The turning point (Pholus) in a conflict (Mars) seems also to have the effect of a conflict (Mars) causing a turning point (Pholus).
Also visit: Astromarkt.net for example about Mars-Saturn
Transit Saturn inconjunct Sun

Bachelors, cheats and their charts
![]() |
| Johan Tobias Sergel (source: Svenska Turistföreningens årsskrift 1967) |
What makes a man cheat? It is hard to be true when Venus is calling*) you and you are a charming person:)! It is hard to be true when you love some 'alternation' or when you keep falling in love! It is also hard to be true when you are stuck in a marriage with a mortgage and a few children (Venus-Saturn) and when you are a boy who wants to have fun (Mars in the 5th, for example). There are so much difficulties on the way to eternal true love!
Of course, it depends on culture and time in history how a man deals with those 'problems'. I guess Mr. Neanderthal didn't worry too much about it. Henry VIII divorced several times. He had the chance and the position. Picture this: he had Moon quintile Saturn and semisquare Neptune, Venus opposition Neptune (and inconjunct Uranus), Mars 105d Uranus, all four of the 'difficulties' in his progressed chart when he married! Poor man:). There were only harmonious distances when he was born! His position changed and that made him a candidate for marriages with women who could never meet his standards.
In Europe people don't marry too soon, so there is fewer risk of divorce (their relationships 'just' end). For example, I know a good looking man of 50, still a batchelor, lots of lovers and friends, good job, with Sun conjunct Uranus (rising before the Sun), Mars biquintile Uranus and Moon inconjunct Saturn. Had he married, he would have divorced, too. Now he doesn't have to deal with money issues following a divorce.
Some guys are lucky and marry a woman who don't mind if they have others. Some queens and Jacqie Kennedy and other women prefer wealth over true love. The official wife and the lover attended the funeral of Mr. Mitterand (Moon in Libra rising before the Sun, Venus 'calling', Mars quintile Uranus, Jupiter in the 8th house.., see the link).
Some guys were less fortunate and their affairs got lots of attention.Tiger Woods, for example. His Moon, Venus and Neptune are in the 3rd house, rising before the Sun. Maybe that is an addition to the 4 'classical' indications given by the astrologer Ram...
MORE EXAMPLES
1. I know of another person whose wife is as tolerant as Mrs.Mitterand was has Mars sesquisquare Uranus and Venus (calling!) semi square Saturn with Moon quatronovile Neptune. Those three aspects are in line with what I mentioned before. Venus is also semi square Pluto (for intense desires). All in all: a charming man with a short fuse and intense desires whose chart tells me that it will be hard to continue this marriage.
2. The chart of a cheat who didn't divorce but lives with his lover has Jupiter in the 8th, a prominent Moon on the IC, Venus on the Descendant and 'calling'(no major aspects), Moon opposition Neptune and sextile Venus (with Venus trine Neptune), Venus inconjunct Saturn (for staying married, but...not true). This man also has Venus conjunct Orcus (in the 7th house). Orcus is the symbol of (broken) promisses.
From those examples you learn that the 4 basic 'trouble makers' are almost always there. But, to be able to cheat, first of all you need to see and contact women. What makes it easier to connect to women?
- Moon in Taurus or Venus in Libra helps to look nice:)You see these indications in the examples above. Many of those indications are part of the pattern of artistic talents (see Art&Astrology), too. So if your man is not an artist and he has more than 2 of those indications, and you want your husband to be true, beware!:)
- Venus in the 3rd house helps you to connect with women, too.
- Aspects between Moon and Venus show the need for love and the love for women (all of them...).
- Venus-Uranus is for adventures with women or just for dancing:).
- Venus-Neptune is for romancing...
- Jupiter in the 8th house contributes to your potential. You have to be strong to have more than one woman:)
How do I know? I studied the charts of Mick Jager, John F. Kennedy (see Astrology&Love) and Bill Clinton, who has Moon in Taurus and Venus in Libra, both in hard aspect with Neptune. I also have the chart of manager with Moon in Taurus, Jupiter in the 8th house, Moon septile Venus and Venus trine Neptune who cheated on his wife more than once.
Why is this study not complete? I don't know if the others were true, always!:)

Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen: similarities
Now that Mel Gibson is in the news again (see LA TIMES), it is time to have a closer look at his chart. The actor has a beautiful 'Golden Yod' of Sun quintile Neptune and Midheaven (and Neptune biquintile Midheaven). The Golden Yod is resonating the creative talent to act and the ability to create another person and a 'double life' or be an idol (just like movie stars use to be). He also has Mercury opposition Uranus and that is an astrological statement for differences of opinion, controversial ideas and 'strange' (sometimes funny) remarks.**). What he said and says causes problems sometimes, but now he is in serious trouble after domestic violence.
Mel Gibson is not the only actor ' in trouble' right now. So is Charlie Sheen. I have noticed the similarities in their charts before and here they are again, with even more similarities...You will probably find even more...
In 2006 and in 2008 I already mentioned the fact that the charts of Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen have a lot in common. So have their lives.
a. They are very rich and
b. they are successful actors.
c. they are very controversial and
d. they are believers in conspiracy theories about 9/11. Together with Charlie Sheen he (= Mel Gibson) supports a movement in the USA that has a complot theory about 9/11. Not the Arab intruders did 'it', it must have been the CIA or even Israel.
e. Fact is that Charlie and Mel slapped their wives.
f. In the movies they act as 'heroes'.
g. Both have addiction problems.
h. Both have problems with women.
Mel Gibson was born January 3, 1956 at 16:45 in Peekskill USA.
Charlie Sheen was born September 3, 1965 at 22:48 hour in New York (both of these data given by Astrotheme.fr).
The actors share:
- Gibson has Sun in Capricorn semisquare Saturn and sesquisquare Pluto. Also Saturn is square Pluto. Charlie Sheen has Sun conjunct Pluto (and Uranus) opposed to Saturn and so Saturn is opposed to Pluto. In both cases there are midpoint combinations with Saturn and Pluto involved. That is the ‘die hard’ combination (see Astromarkt).
-Earlier I wrote about Charlie Sheen and Eris. Eris has an important role in to play in his chart. Mel Gibson’s Eris is sesquisquare Mars (aggressive discord, war*) and square Sun (living with discord). If the hour of birth is correct (it is a B-rated chart!) Eris is elevated in Mel Gibson's chart.
- Mercury square Neptune (a misty mind and fantasy fighting facts). Maybe that is good for actors (they can imagine facts for their job), but not for conspiracy theories.
- Mars in aspect with Saturn: Mel Gibson has Mars conjunct Saturn (both rising before the Sun), Sheen has a trine. That means that they are disciplined or that they use hard measures, like slapping See: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2010/10/mars-saturn.html
- Venus - Saturn: Mel G. has Venus 75d Saturn, Charlie Sheen has a biquintile.
Maybe that is for professional beauty?:)
- They also share the Moon trine Mercury.
It is easy for them to express emotions and to memorize words.
- Midpoint combinations of Jupiter/Neptune (the devoted adience).
Those are about seven to eight similarities in the chart! They mirror each other in many ways. And so do their charts. Here they are with transits:
**) Sarah Palin and Silvio Berlusconi have the same aspect combination of ' controversial communications'. Palin has Mercury quintile Uranus, Berlusconi has Mercury inconjunct Uranus. It seems that a lot of astrologers have this combination, too:).

Prince Charles yesterday
First there were the polls (about the people wanting William instead of him to be the next King) and yesterday the car of Prince Charles and Princess Camilla got stuck in the middle of student riots (see the Huffington Post). You'd expect something (but not too much) in the chart. Nothing really changed, nobody got hurt. That is perhaps the reason why there is only one transit: transit Pholus is on the progressed IC (opposition Midheaven). Pholus-MC is the symbol of the turning point in a status or position, but often in retroperspective. In the progressed chart of Prince Charles the Sun is almost conjunct Pholus. (Transit Pholus is almost opposition the progressed Midheaven of the B-rated chart of Camilla, too.)

Chart of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, 219 years after death
The Astrodatabank-chart of Mozart is a B-rated chart. The source of the hour of birth is a biography quoating his father's letter. This chart has Uranus on the Descendant. In the movie Amadeus you can see how Uranus on the descendant, opposition Northern Node sometimes gave the impression that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was shocking, ‘an idiot’ or just ‘hyper’, different than the rest...That seems to be in line with Uranus. But he was also special, different than the rest of us, extremely talented. What makes his chart so special? What in his chart tells us about his early death? The answer is, that it is not just one thing, it is a combination of impressive indications. I listed 12 of them. For those interested, continue for the chart drawing, the talent in the chart and see how the progressions and transits mirrored his life.

Twins, re: Cumbria massacre and Pieck Brothers
There are always questions about twins, time twins and astrology. These questions rise when there is a serious incident such as in Cumbria.
This post is about the differences and similarities in the charts of twins with the Bird brothers birthday (no hour of birth) and the natal charts of Henri and Anton Pieck as examples. It is a longer post than usual, because it is about four people and three charts.
INDIVIDUALITY
People are individuals, and they are different, even if they are born on the same day. Charts of people who are born on the same day contain the same aspect combinations between the Sun, the planets and the asteroids. Shared aspects in the charts often refer to shared experiences, feelings, preferences and capacities. Twins share those aspects in the same situation and with the same genes. That creates an intense bond. But it doesn't equalize them. One can be a killer of 12 and the other one can be the victim, like in the case of the Bird brothers.
People born on the same day may have different aspects with the Moon, other Ascendants, MC's, angularities and (some of the) midpoint combinations. To calculate the positions of Moon,Ac, MC and find angular positions and midpoint combinations, an hour of birth is required. There is no hour of birth for the Bird brothers. So the chart of the day of birth of the Bird brothers show just pieces of a puzzle. We know that they shared a family matter over money and they shared the same dying day. Some of what they shared can be found in the symbols of the chart of their birth day.
We do know the hours of birth of the famous twin brothers Pieck. They had a different Ascendant and Midheaven sign. Henri spent years in Buchenwald, in prison from 1941 - 1945 and died 15 years earlier than his brother Anton. The differences and similarities in their charts show the differences and similaries in their lives. The differences grow as life continues and the progressed charts reflects how life goes on. The differences are visible in what remains of their art.
Here are some observations.
A. CUMBRIA TWINS
The killer of the Cumbria massacre had a twin brother (who was killed by him on the day that he committed suicide). He faced the payment of tens of thousands on taxes and feared to be left out of the will of his mother. In anger, he killed his brother, his sollicitor and from then on everybody who was in his way.
Twins have the same day of birth (or are born within hours), so this chart drawing below is shared by the murderer and victim, and by all others born on the same day! The chart of the birth day without hour is like an incomplete puzzle; pieces are missing and variations are still possible. However, it is rather easy to find and 'translate' the known themes and issues.
. the taxi driver (prominent planets of travelling: Mercury calling, Jupiter oriental),
. the money-heirloom issues (Ceres* is calling and see combination of money = Venus-Pluto + the present disappointment and insecurity with Venus-Neptune)
. the family matters: Mars in Libra opposition Eris in Aries: the gods of war and discord are in opposition in the signs of cooperations and make it difficult to remain peaceful, especially because of the aspects with the Moon. Derrick killed his business partner, too.
More observations of the chart of the Cumbria twin brothers:
. Sun conjunct Quaoar: living with a new reality, or creating a new kind of life. This could be a positive aspect, of course, but I found a site (Astronova) that gives examples of accidents and injuries with this aspect (see this link to Astronova. Of course, a new reality is born after an accident, too. Transit Uranus and Chiron are in minor aspect with this conjunction now. They are adding sudden hurt and change and complete the picture of unexpected painful new situations.
. The kite figure in the chart is clear to see, connecting Sun, Jupiter, Moon, Eris, Mars, Saturn and Uranus. There is a bunch of so called ‘harmonious aspects’ (trines and sextiles). Often those easy aspects mirror ‘ the easy way out’ and they are frequent in the charts of inmates. (Choose the label ‘sextile’ to see more examples of the effect.)
Kites are known for their driving force (and the force can be used for good things and for crime; a chart is rather neutral).
. Saturn on Antares , a rather unfortunate combination that might be on a crucial spot in the chart of one of the brothers (angular, for example).
. Ceres is important in the natal chart because there is no major aspect in sign or orb 5 degrees (Ceres is ‘ calling’). That makes any aspect or transit with Ceres an important one. Ceres (symbol of genes, motherhood and heirloom is also important in the transits and progressions on their final day, as you can see in the list of progressions and transits. We already know that there might have been a conflict about heirloon.
(Click the label Ceres for more examples of Ceres in charts.)

B. ANTON AND HENRI PIECK
The lives of the twin brothers Anton and Henri Christiaan Pieck didn't end on the same day or in the same year. They were both talented illustrators, but Henri was also a communist spy whose health suffered badly because of years in Buchenwald. And Anton lived 15 more years. Important differences and similarities in their charts in the progressed and natal chart explain the differences and similarities in their lives.
1. On the day that Henri was arrested (June 9, 1941) he had Saturn on the Descendant and Uranus quindecile the Ascendant in the progressed chart. Saturn-Uranus is the combination of limited freedom. Anton, however, had Uranus on the Descendant, for a shocking change and freedom/independece (Uranus) as a key factor in his situation (AC). Saturn (Henri) and Uranus (Anton) are the rulers of their Ascendants (Capricorn and Aquarius).
Henri is unique in the following midpoint combinations: he has Mars opposition AC/MC, Uranus conjunct Saturn/MC and Saturn semi square Uranus/AC plus MC square Uranus/Pluto. Anton doesn't have these combinations. They refer to the limited freedom again, to the importance of action and activism and to a tendency for radicalism and impuls.
2. They had the same talents.
Anton has Venus 'calling' square Ascendant and MC oppostion Venus/Neptune.
Henri's Venus is close to the IC.
Both brothers have Mercury and Mars in mutual reception as final dispositors of the Midheaven (pointing at an abilitity and practical knowledge).
3. Neptune is quindecile the Midheaven of Henri. Neptune is linked to secrets. Read about Mata Hara and Christine Keeler or think of Valerie Plame with Moon in Pisces and Neptune on Aries Point).
4. The MC of Henri is in Scorpio, Anton's was in Sagittarius. Scorpio is the sign of challenges, life and death, research, politics and courage. Scorpio is more in line with the life of a spy, prisoner and political interests than Sagittarius is. Just watch the difference between what Anton created (the joyful picture on the left) and what his brother made (the tragic sketch above).
5. Henri was arrested when his progressed Ascendant had just changed sign (situation change). His progressed chart shows that good times are over (the aspect with Jupiter is past and gone). Saturn is on his Descendant. Both brothers share a delicate period in life: their progressed Sun is exactly on Neptune/Pluto.

Henri died with T Saturn on the IC (when his condition was less than ever). Here are their progressed charts with transits for the day of his arrest. The picture above shows their natal charts.

This post shows two things:
1. you can't judge based upon a chart and
2. hours of birth (and in particular midpoint combinations) make a difference
3. part of the explanations can be found in a chart without hour of birth
Even if the charts are almost similar, individuals will try to BE different. I know a female twin born just minutes apart who behave completely different, in spite of having almost the same kind of chart. One is a long married housewife and working mother, the other divorced twice and can't (or won't) find a job.
Especially when the birth chart shows a drive to be independent and unique and make a difference, the twins will try to walk different roads and choose different hobbies, professions and clothes, just to show their independence and individuality. They will elect different qualities and select another part of the 'packet'. Others go for the same road.

Transits and progressions(see chart)
1. Progressed Sun is quindecile natal Ceres
2. Progressed Ceres 75 natal Sun
This is a double Sun-Ceres conflict with minor aspects. The minor aspects aren’t obvious (like major aspects are). Derrick Bird appeared to be calm and nice until June 2, but there was an underlying conflict and a strong focus on heirloom (Ceres).
3. Transit Jupiter is trine progressed Ceres made it easy to succeed.
4. Transit Neptune opposition natal Venus reveals financial disappointment.
5. Transit Neptune 75 Varuna
6. Transit Pholus inconjunct Varuna
Minor transits with Varuna are like mines sometimes.
7. Perhaps transit Pholus is square progressed Moon
If that is so, in the natal chart the Moon in Aries would be exactly square Orcus, conjunct Eris and square Mars and open the doors to domestic discord. Here is the chart with transits and progressions:
