BIRTH CHART OF PAUL NEWMAN who has been hospitalized

They say that he is in hospital for a rash and losing hair, but friends say that he is seriously ill (cancer of the lungs). On the 25th of May 2007 he said he would stop acting because he cannot work at the level he wants no more. His progressed Ascendant was opposition Saturn in the year before.
Paul Newman was born 26th January 1925 at 6:30 a.m. in Cleveland and is 83 years old now. His progressed Sun is about to change sign. Today, the progressed Moon is conjunct Uranus (for a sudden change or a moment of upheavel).

Paul Newman is a 'mister nice guy'. He is a great actor. I particulary loved his role in The Long, Hot Summer as Ben Quick, a serie that I saw as a kid:).
As an astrologer you can imagine that he has a prominent Venus and he has. Venus is crucial, placed on the Ascendant, together with Mercury. Another important placement is that of Pluto on the descendant, opposition Mercury and Venus and Jupiter...There are several combinations that point as succes in art, in love, as an artist etc. simply using these prominently placed planets. Also notice the 'calling' Sun (no major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees), pointing at the importance of performing. The show must go on when your Sun is calling. And Paul Newmans' show has been a long one. He did not stop working in 2007. From that moment on he dedicated himself to his restaurant and to seriously ill children. Why?

THE MOON CALLING
First of all I think it is because of the 'calling' Moon in Pisces. Moon symbolises food, caretaking, education, children, needs, cooking, environment, remembering, housing, and...reflecting another person (acting!). The prominence of the Moon lead him to his restaurant, to the children, and to caring and to acting.
He also founded the Scott Newman foundation after his only son Scott died to an overdose in 1978 (notice that the Moon is in Pisces). That was with the progressed Sun changing sign, too (30 years ago), Solar Arc Pluto inconjunct Sun, and with the progressed Midheaven semi square Saturn, the most elevated planet in his chart.

Secondly, I like to point at the crucial Pluto on the descendant. Pluto symbolises a.o. politics (he supported McCarthy against Nixon), prizes (he received some:), influence, and confrontations with life and death.

RACING
There is so much more to tell about Paul Newman. In 1995 (with MC conjunct Venus) he managed to win Daytona at age 70! He started racing in 1969. Do you mind if I attribute that to the 'calling' Uranus in his chart? Uranus can be very stimulating.

BIRTH CHART GENE ROBINSON A bishop who got married

In 2003, when his progressed Sun changed sign, Gene Robinson was elected bishop of the Episcopal Church in the USA. His election caused a schisma. Theological conservatives left the church. He is openly gay and today he proved his noncelibatance by marrying his 80-year old partner. Between 2003/2004 and now there is February 14, 2006. That was when he was treated for alcoholism. Certainly not a dull moment, in the last years...For astrologers it is not surprising to see progressed Sun semi square Uranus right now (for the upheavel and news and BTW: Uranus happens to be his ruler 7), but there is also progressed Sun square Ceres (the planet of heirdoom and seeds). I guess that it refers to a bond that is not 'productive'. Any other ideas?

Look at the positons on his birthday (29th May 1947, near Lexington Kentucky). Venus tightly square Pluto, Mars oriental conjunct Venus. It is a statement for being full of passion.

His theological interests are to be found in the trine of Sun with Neptune and in the 'calling' Jupiter. Jupiter does not make Ptoloemeic aspects in sign or orb (5d). Jupiter is inconjunct Uranus.
Jupiter-Uranus is one of the influences in the charts of modern popes. The other one is Jupiter-Neptune. I was positive that Jupiter or Neptune will be placed on a crucial spot in his personal birth chart or that they are strongly connected to the Midheaven. But I could only prove it with an hour of birth. I found 9:03 a.m. on Astrodatabank. That is with: Midheaven opposition Jupiter/Neptune! A midpoint yod with the combination for acting, believing and followers.

Pluto is crucial in his chart, conjunct the Ascendant. That is a statement for the importance of affairs of money, influence, politics, life and death and ...sexuality. Another thing is the Midheaven position in Aries, in the final degree. There is an out of sign square with Saturn, very interesting in the chart of a clergy man who deals with hierarchy and the possibility of a forced step back that he risked. Pluto's prominence is for courage, too.

Why did not he marry a woman? There are indications for a divorce or for not marrying at all in the chart of a male:
- Moon in conflict with Neptune (Gene Robinson has Moon conjunct Neptune AND semi square Jupiter; a combination for a religious soul)
- Moon in conflict with Saturn (Gene Robinson has a sextile and that is considered to be harmonious)
- Venus in conflict with Neptune (nope)
- Mars in conflict with Uranus (Gene Robinson has a semi square)

Two out of four, that is enough. He did marry, so we should not expect conflicts between the houses 1 and 7, should we? And there are none.

AL GORE OR HILLARY CLINTON?Who will Obama's 'second man'?

Hillary Clinton has given up with transit Saturn sextile Sun and transit Jupiter trine progressed Northern Node. She can still become an important figure in the government (provided that Obama beats McCain).

In april 2008 Obama said that he wanted Al Gore to become his vice president, but Al Gore did not say he would like to be his second man and that he is more interested in the enviromnment. Hillary Clinton has said that she is interested, but it seems that those who favour Obama do not like Hillary. Can he skipp her? I doubt it. But any compromise is possible. And astrology does not provide an answer when it comes to the difference between being a minister or a vice-president. Hillary Clinton has been in the White House before, already and I suppose she was influencial at the time, too.

About Al Gore I wrote before:
"Al Gore was born March 31, 1948 at 12h53 in Washinton. Minor aspects (only) are afflicting the oriental Mercury. Venus is calling, too. We see a communicator with diplomatic talents. The most narrow aspect in the chart of Al Gore is that of Mercury inconjunct Saturn (he should have to stop thinking in doom theories:). Saturn on the midpoint Mars/Pluto in the first house seems to be pointing at the nasty sides of political struggle.

Wikipedia mentions that during the campaign for the presidency of the USA Al Gore said misleading or false things. The same thing is happening now with An Inconvenient Truth. Recently a British judge judged that there are nine mistakes in this famous movie. Mistakes of great importance, I think (the period of time it takes for the sea to rise 20 feet, the facts that no polar bears drowned and no attols were evacuated, the fact that there is no exact fit at all between the graphs of carbon dioxide levels and temperatures over 650.000 years.

Al Gore has an afflicted Pisces Mercury inconjunct Saturn ('doom'theories and fantasies). That is one of the reasons that I doubt his theories just as much as I doubt Nostradamus, the Maya-calendar and the global effect of the position of Pluto conjunct the Galactic Centre, seen from earth. And it is not to be expected (astrologically) that there will be no other doubts. Next April Uranus will square his Progressed MC, Neptune will be inconjunct the Ascendant and Saturn will make hard aspects to both the natal and progressed Sun in the second half of August 2008. Well, time will tell... ">

We will have to wait till then, I am afraid, or throw coines:). We are not certain about birth times. And the messages of today show us that birth times make a hugh difference!
