The Taurus astrologer in the chart of John Frawley

The combination of the helicopter view is Jupiter-Uranus. Jupiter-Uranus combinations are frequent in the charts of astronauts, modern popes and …astrologers. The chart of British astrologer John Frawley is such a good example! Here it is:

Jupiter conjunct Uranus,
Sun sextile Uranus,
Jupiter sextile Sun
Also, Jupiter and Uranus are in a wider trine with Midheaven in Scorpio.
Jupiter and Uranus are in hard aspect with Venus, too.

That is a lot of Jupiter/Uranus, and it is all connected to Pallas, the symbol of patterns.
Here is his chart, with transits and progressions, the Porphyry way.
Need one know more? Well, John Frawley is a classical astrologer.

SATURN FOR CLASSICS
He teaches traditional and horary astrology and wrote ‘The Real Astrology’ (a satirical approach of modern astrology).
Saturn doesn’t make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. His Saturn is on Midheaven. That is why Saturn is the most prominent planet in the chart. Saturn is the symbol of ‘classical’… and in this chart Saturn is ‘calling’!

John Frawley is a famous astrologer.

JUPITER PLUTO MC FOR SUCCESS
Jupiter and Pluto are in aspect with the MC, promising public success.

There is also a Jupiter-Neptune aspect, connected with the Sun, that explains the dedicated audience/students and the number of fans that he has.

TAURUS WAY
Now how does the sun sign Taurus mirror his life style? It may be in the price of a consultation  Well, isn't Taurus supposed to like making money?:) But there are more ways to demonstrate that you are a Taurus. Earlier I wrote about the correspondence between Taurus astrologers Deborah Houlding and William Lilly:

Because now I have to find out what William Lilly and Deborah Houlding share. I found this site (http://www.skyscript.co.uk/pdf/CA_preface.pdf ) with Lilly's 'Christian Astrology' retyped and with comments of Deborah Houlding. Perhaps that it is the continuity of working on that basic material that demonstrates the fixed and earth side of Taurus?
Now I can add John Frawley (also recommending Lilly's Christian Astrology): Taurus and continuity of working on basic material.

PS
It is his 60st birthday today and there are a 3 transits of Pluto with his natal and progressed chart.
1. Pluto is conjunct Progressed Midheaven,
2. Pluto is inconjunct natal Mercury and
3. Pluto is conjunct natal Ascendant.
Transits of Pluto might be more disturbing if you are not a traditional astrologer, but what if there are 3 of them? This usually means: challenges and stress.
Perhaps that was (only) because of the failing website? On April 21, 2015 he wrote:'My website's come  back to life'. Interesting that Pluto is the symbol of come backs, crisis and matters of life and death...:)

Aquarius astrologer Carroll Righter

On Astropost you find charts of astrologers for almost every sun sign. They tell us about the indications for interest in astrology (or better: for a helicopter view) and they tell us in what way the sun sign of the astrologer is in line with the way that he or she practiced it. Carroll Righter's sun sign was Aquarius. He was an astrologer in the days that astrology was booming and 'The age of Aquarius' was a hit.

What he did was not new. Astrologers have been advising politicians and kings for ages and in some nations, they still do. It is an enormous responsibility and it requires some notion of politics and strategy. I remember a sad case of some years ago of an astrologer /clairvoyabt whose advices left him so poor that one of his famous clients bought him a carpet because he couldn't afford one. Some astrologers give million dollar advices for 100 box! So,  amazing how wealthy Carroll Righter was! (Maybe his Venus ruler 2 in 12 square Pluto ruler 8 helped him? Or maybe American celebs are more generous:).

THE ASTROLOGER'S PATTERN
Astrologers usually have a Jupiter-Uranus 'connection', consisting of a narrow aspect between Jupiter and Uranus, the Sun or Mercury in aspect with both Jupiter or Uranus. a Jupiter/Uranus midpoint combination with Sun, Mercury or Midheaven and/or an Aquarius Sun in aspect with Jupiter (or a Sagittarius Sun in aspect with Uranus). Mostly they have more of these connections, completed with a prominent Pallas (for patterns) and either Jupiter or Uranus in a prominent position. Let's see if Carroll Righter, who was a famous and successful astrologer, had this, too. Here is the chart:
Click and open in new window for a larger picture
There are 4 Jupiter-Uranus combinations.
1. Jupiter is conjunct Uranus
2. Jupiter and Uranus are sextile Mercury
3. Sun in Aquarius -ruled by Uranus- is sextile Uranus in Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter) AND
4. Sun in Aquarius is in a 67.5 degree minor aspect*) with the ruler of the 10th house, Jupiter.
That is more that the rule of 3!

Neptune on IC and the 12th house Pisces Moon square Neptune/Pluto for a famous astrologer? Famous astrological advisors work behind the scenes..,So the combination is a perfect symbol for someone who discretely communicates with celebrities in the paranormal field. See how that Moon in Pisces 12 square Neptune/Pluto is reflecting the 'secret force' and paranormal sensitivity that a lot of people are afraid of? Did he really advice the Reagans?*) Or was it Joan Quigley? Or did they both?

Neptune on IC is a Neptune opposite Midheaven. This position symbolizes a career related to beliefs, ideals/ideology, media and/or mediums or... the movies! Neptune is the symbol of television and all that can't be smelled, seen or touched. It is the symbol of fantasies and what is fake.
His career started when he moved to Hollywood, a very Neptunic place...

Neptune rules his first house (Ascendant Pisces) and is calling (no aspects in orb 5 degrees), just like Saturn is. Midpoint Saturn/Neptune is connected to Midheaven and Sun by means of hard minor aspects. Saturn/Neptune is the midpoint of involuntary detachment  So I found it interesting to read that he hardly ever left his spacious house in the late sixties**). That is also in line with the 12th House Moon and Pisces Ascendant. It takes some study and being alone to study charts:).

Anyway, Carroll Righter had the Jupiter-Uranus 'helicopter view' connection and Pallas in 10 for using patterns as tools to be an astrologer. He had a lot of influence and probably loved the idea (Sun trine Pluto). He made astrology popular, too. With Mars in Aquarius in the 11th house, rising before the Sun and sextile Jupiter, he also had the energy to promote astrology.  This combination mirrors a drive to convince others (just like we see in the charts of the preachers in this post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2010/12/preachers-charts.html).
There is also an important Saturn (no aspects in sign within orb 5 degrees) for an important amount of ambition.

THE GOOD MOMENTS
But it also takes good opportunities and starry moments. Righter had his one with Transit Jupiter trine his natal Sun, when Marlene Dietrich became his devoted client after having ignored his warning for an accident (and breaking her ankle).

A long long time ago, in the year that I was born, Carroll Righter became a columnist. That was with progressed Midheaven and transit Jupiter conjunct his natal Sun AND Progressed Ascendant opposite Jupiter, all that, for a golden opportunity.

NOTES
***67.5 is a minor aspect, a semi sesquisquare

Charts of geniuses Majorana, Perelman and Turing

Dutch professor Kouwenhoven and crew managed to ‘see’ the Majorana particle, an important part of a super computer to be (but maybe you’d better read BBC about it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17695944 )

The Majorana particle was predicted by Ettore Majorana, a genius who disappeared at age 31. His chart and ‘disappearance’ looks like that of Grigori Perelman, a contemporary genius. That is what I found when I remembered the Saturn in Pisces of Grigori Perelman and started looking for more similarities in the chart positions, more specific I had a look at their Sun, Mercury and Saturn. I found that Perelman and Majorana both have Mars rising before the 'calling' Sun and Saturn in Pisces. They share a Mercury-Jupiter aspect. Both dealt with a challenging transit of Pluto when they withdrew or disappeared.

Here is the complete comparison of the charts of three famous scientists: Majorana, Perelman and Turing. These geniuses have/had difficulties. Majorana simply disappeared, age 31. Perelman now lives the life of a hermit. Turing, instead of being honored, suffered from being prosecuted because of his homosexuality and died in suspicious circumstances. What they share is a ‘calling’ Sun (drawing attention at any possible level) and a Mercury-Jupiter aspect. Majorana and Perelman both have Saturn in Pisces. Quoting myself:
The opposite of Jupiter in Pisces, endless mistrust. They seem to feel obligated to suffer, be lonely or their faith is a heavy load to carry. Very few politicians have this positionhttp://astropost.blogspot.com/2008/04/pisces-sun-sign-pisces-moon-planets.html

MAJORANA
Ettore Majorana is the scientist who ‘invented’ the Majorana particle. After that he vanished on March 27, 1938, age 31.

This is his chart (B-rated!) with transits and progressions for March 27, 1938.

His Saturn is in Pisces. Mars rises before his sun. When he vanished it was in a challenging period with lots of stress, apparently, because transit Pluto was sesquisquare his Progressed Sun.

His natal Sun doesn’t make major (Ptolemaic) aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. . I name that a ‘calling’ sun: he will draw attention at any possible level.

Charts of scientists often have a Mercury-Saturn aspect. Majorana’s Mercury is quatronovile Saturn.
Majorana’s Mercury is septile Jupiter.

PERELMAN
Grigori Perelman is a scientist who solved a mathematical problem. He didn’t want to collect the prize and lives like a hermit (see the English Pravda: http://english.pravda.ru/science/tech/28-04-2011/117727-Grigori_Perelman-0/ ) His Saturn is in Pisces. Mars rises before his sun. When he withdrew from society, it was in a challenging period: transit Pluto was inconjunct his Sun.

His natal Sun doesn’t make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. He will draw attention at any possible level.

Charts of scientists often have a Mercury-Saturn aspect, I said, but Perelman doesn’t have it. His Mercury is conjunct Jupiter.

TURING
You don’t need to have a Saturn in Pisces to be a genius. Alan Turing’s Saturn is in Taurus, for example.

His natal Sun doesn’t make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. He will draw attention at any possible level.

Like in a lot of charts of scientists, his chart has an aspect between Mercury and Saturn: the novile.  Mercury is inconjunct Jupiter.

PS PALLAS
Just like in the chart of Einstein, Pallas is important in the chart of Turing. Pallas is 'calling' in the chart of Majorana.

Isn't astrology interesting?

The model in the chart of Gisele Bundchen

Wiki Commons: picture by Gabrielle Marchi
Gisele Bundchen is the best earning model in the world. A composition of 7 indications in her natal chart is resonating this. The nicest one is Sun/Moon (midpoint of motivation, heart and soul) semi square Venus/Jupiter (party, lucky woman, popularity) and Pallas (a female icon). That combination is highlighting the successful female icon that she is. All charts should be seen in the light of culture, genes, gender and  situation. Gisele Bundchen's mother adviced her to become a model, she was trained to be a model. Like many other successful women, Gisele Bundchen has the Moon in Scorpio and this Moon*) is elevated and opposition Pallas: she became a role model, a public person. I read that Gisele bought a hotel and that is one of the other ideas related to a Moon in 10.

Her first picture on the cover of Vogue in July of 1999 was supported by a transit of Jupiter with Pallas, Sun/Moon and Venus/Jupiter (a fortunate transit that stimulated the already nice combination in the natal chart). She also had transit Uranus opposition Sun (change, being in the news), with transit Pholus square Progressed Moon (soon after Pholus conjunct Midheaven: it means a turning point). Here is the natal chart:

1.  Just like other beautiful women, she has Venus in aspect with Saturn and Pluto in her chart (Venus is exactly trine Pluto and square Saturn). See http://astropost.blogspot.com/2010/09/charts-of-beautiful-women-and-venus.html

2.  Her Sun doesn’t make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. This ‘calling’ Sun is the symbol of performance, being a star and drawing attention at any possible level (perhaps even as a leader).

3.  The Sun is angular (on the Descendant), and that again places her in the center of attention of others, but in a distant way (just like models in magazines do).

4.  Her Mars and Jupiter are also ‘calling’. The combination of Sun, Mars and Jupiter in prominent positions mirrors a lot of energy and drive and is a key to success. When Mars is ‘calling’ you tend to be a workaholic or very active (perhaps in sports). Gisele Bundchen first wanted a career in sports).

5.  There is a pattern of artistic talent in her chart: Moon on top, in hard minor aspect with the opposition of Venus and Neptune (connected to the Libra Midheaven = a career in the sphere of style and beauty and balance). She performed in two movies, too, but of course you need to have sense of style, feeling for what the people want and you need to be able to ‘do as if’ if you are a model.
BTW Venus and Neptune are at the beginning/end (on either side) of the bowl figure of her natal chart. Venus-Neptune could be seen as the art (Venus) of photography (Neptune).

6.  Venus/Jupiter=Sun/Moon=Pallas seems to reflect being motivated by a pattern of fortune and fun. Sounds good…

7.  Jupiter quintile Uranus ruler 2 might have attributed to the sudden windfall but is also telling us that she is a creative inventive person.

Those are seven good reasons in addition to the Moon in Scorpio on top, valid for a successful model with feeling for posing, drawing attention, working hard to look good and with other keys to success (like having the energy and enjoying it).

CONTROVERSY
Gisele Bundchen wanted to tell the world how important breast feeding is (see Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gisele_Bündchen) and said that breast feeding should be a world wide law. How interesting that Ceres (symbol of nutrition) is exactly square Saturn (symbol of law, restriction and responsibility) in her natal chart!

Oprah Winfrey's final show

Transit Pluto was on the progressed Moon of Oprah Winfrey, on the day before yesterday, when the final show was made (on television next week). Pluto with Moon intensifies emotions, so I guess that the large amount of hand kerchiefs was needed:). Another sign now is the progressed Sun inconjunct Pallas (symbol of patterns) now that she stops the 25-year range of popular shows on television. Within a few weeks transit Pluto will be on the Sun/Moon midpoint to transform her lifestyle. Of course she decided this a year ago and in the past months there have been many important transits and progressions. For some more about the indications for change in the chart of Oprah (and for the signs of changing times) on this blog, see:

Sun/Moon midpoint combinations with asteroids and dwarf planets

When I found out that I have Sun/Moon conjunct Ceres I got even more interested in the meaning of Sun/Moon midpoint combinations with dwarf planets and asteroids. Ceres is the symbol of nutrition and motherhood (and of the dynasty). That is why Ceres is important in the charts of women who deliver the next king. Cooks also have important Ceres' (see http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/03/astrological-recipe-for-famous-chef.html ), but I am not a cook and I am not a member of a 'dynasty'. I am not on a diet, either...So I still am working on the meaning of Sun/Moon/Ceres for myself. Maybe I will end my life breeding dogs, who knows:) Anyway, I should be motivated by Ceres and the need to nurture, but I am afraid that the picture of Big Mama doesn't suit me much. Though one grows bigger all the time, of course:) If you want to know more about Ceres, go here...
In my opinion the Sun/Moon combinations with Ceres, Pallas, Pholus and Quaoar could sound like this:
  • Sun/Moon with Ceres
Motivated by results (the harvest), roots, genes, motherhood or nutrition. The need to be nurtured or to feed others (with food, ideas or dreams….etc.)
  • Sun/Moon with Eris
Motivated by discord or anger. The need not to be underestimated or forgotten? (Don’t you forget about Eris!
  • Sun/Moon with Pallas
Motivated by seeing patterns and displaying them. The need to arrange things.
  • Sun/Moon with Quaoar
Motivated to create new perspectives. The need to create a new way of living for themselves or for the world
  • Sun/Moon with Pholus
Motivated to cause a turning point (a goal in football, for example). Need to make (immediate) changes

I haven't found examples, yet and if you have, please mention them.

Chart of Alan Turing

BBC reports that the''Turing papers have been saved for the nation". Here is more about Turing and his chart. Alan Turing was a mathematician, logician and cryptanalyst. A lecture about cryptanalystics and spies introduced me to Turing and his fascinating story. We owe him a lot because he broke German ciphers during WWII using the Enigma machine, one of the first steps to computers. However, there was no gratitude of the authorities, since they prosecuted him for being homosexual. He underwent chemical castration. Gordon Brown appologized in 2009 for the way Turing had been treated. His death is named suicidal but his family doubts that. The memorial of Turing pictures him with an apple in the hand (he died after consuming a poisoned apple).

Alan Turing was inventive and a generalist. He had a special kind of chart with 6 'calling' positions in the natal chart (Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune without major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees). Jupiter and Uranus (symbols of the inventive mind) are angular, with Pallas (symbol of patterns)...That means that he is inventive in finding patterns. His death is named suicidal but his family doubts that. Minor aspects between Mars, Saturn and Pluto tell us about the unnatural end of his life. Continue for  the charts (with transits and progressions for the day of death) and the relevant links to the news and the posts.

Charts of beautiful women and Venus-Saturn-Pluto

Attractive modern entertainers and actors, (those males who know and use their appearances), often have the hot planet Venus in a cool sign like Virgo or Capricorn. And they have Saturn in aspect with Venus or the Ascendant. We admire them from a distance. Males with closer contacts with women have more placements in Taurus and Libra. But how about women? I compared the charts of eight women who are considered to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. And I found Venus-Saturn (just like in the charts of men) and Venus-Pluto, together, in 7 of them. But there are exceptions (there always are...): Catherine Deneuve. However... She has Venus 'calling' in the eight house (the house of Pluto) trine the Capricorn Ascendant.

In the post about Britney I mention the professional femme fatale (Venus-Saturn-Pluto: the 'die hard' in cases of love and beauty) in her chart. Maybe that is a way to see Venus-Saturn-Pluto. There is an expression in my country:
If you want to be beautiful, you must suffer.
Just depilate and scrub and you will see how true that is... And how about the challenge (Pluto) of aging (Saturn), a serious problem for the beauty and the charm...?
Suffer for beauty, charm, estetics or vanity....maybe that is exactly what Venus-Saturn-Pluto is about. (However, see this link to an article with movie about the experiment that proves that kindness improves the looks,... of apples...:).
Continue to see the charts and observations and for links to posts about the women....and about apples...

Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen and Pluto

Tomorrow, just a few minutes after posting this (starting on Friday September 10, 2010) there is Magnus Carlsen vs the World on Internet. Here is the link to where you can try to beat him:). ..

Chess prodigy Magnus Carlsen was born on November 30, 1990, just like Antoine N'Gossan, an Ivorian football midfielder and the Swedish football player of Beninese decent, Yosif Ayuba. Tactics and strategy are necessary in chess, football and politics. These qualities are represented by
Pluto.

Pluto is important in the chart of these three men. Pluto is the planet of orientation (the planet that rises before the Sun) on November 30, 1990. It means that tactics and strategy (and winning!) come first...
The importance of Pluto for his career is shown by the progression/transit at age 13, when Magnus Carlsen became a Grandmaster. That was with transit Pluto conjunct Progressed Sun (in a year of transformation and challenges)...

Continue for the other qualities in the chart of November 30, 1990 and see the links to more about Sun-Pluto and another prodigy.

Fergie's money is news again

If Pallas on the Ascendant in the first house really is the symbol of the problem solver*), than Sarah Ferguson probably knows how to deal with the money problem that she is supposed to have (see LA Times...). It is not a small problem. It is about millions. Venus-Pluto on either side of Midheaven are already telling us about the importance of money issues. The combination of (earning) money is also rising before the Sun. And with the Moon inconjunct Pluto there is a tendency to eating disorder and to being submissed to certain needs and habits. It is  a difficult combination for emotions**).  The Moon inconjunct Venus-Pluto could be read as: 'extraordinary (inconjunct) need (Moon) for money (Venus-Pluto).

Progressed Moon square Ascendant sheds a light on her circumstances and situation, while the transit of Pluto semisquare progressed Moon is resonating the natal Moon-Pluto combination and showing us the problem to control needs and habits. Right now we also see transit Uranus inconjunct progressed Midheaven (for extraordinary upheaval) and transit Pholus on the progressed Sun (for a turning point in life). Here is the chart with transits and progressions:

HOW ABOUT YOU?
Venus and Pluto-aspects mark the issue of values (earning money; the price of luxury, love and comfort; difficult choices to make and the danger/challenges of your preferences, etcetera). For more about Venus-Pluto, see Astromarkt...

Astrological mirror of 50 Cent's lost weight

Curtis James Jackson or 50 Cent managed to loose 17 kilos to play the role of a cancer patient. It took him 9 weeks of eating fluid food and walking/running 3 hours a day. Watch the pictures on YouTube... I was curious about the astrological reflection in the mirror! Of course I added Ceres (food) and Pallas (patterns) with Pholus (turning point) to the usual planets and lights when I erected the chart of his day of birth because I expected those objects to be important in the picture.
The results are interesting:

1. Pholus is inconjunct his natal Sun!
That is reflecting a turning point with a lost related to fysics and health.
2. Pluto has been and will again be square natal Pallas (in the natal chart Pluto is also square Pallas). This introduces the theme of changing patterns.
3. The progressed Sun is in the 18th degree of Leo. That’s sesquisquare transit Ceres (frustrated nutrition).

And that is the astrological mirror.

Chart of the Alcoholics Anonymous AA

With Xmas time a lot of alcoholic consumptions are being used, so maybe it is time to have a quick look at the chart of the Alcoholics Anonymous, the AA (gratitude to one of my readers who names Joyce Hoen ‘ Medische astrologie’ as the source for the chart). At least, that is what I thought. I started searching Google and found a few interesting sites with questions about the effectiveness of the AA-therapy. (Links included below!)
Here above is the chart! The chart seems to reflect the purpose of the organisation.

CHANGING HABITUAL PATTERNS
In what way does this chart show that the new founded club fights the abuse and addiction of alcohol? See how the most prominent placement are reflecting the significance of the AA: Uranus rising before the Sun and Pallas close to the Descendant, Moon on top. It is a statement for changing (Uranus) habitual (Moon) patterns (Pallas) with others (Descendant)!
COMMUNICATIONS ABOUT ENDING ADDICTION
Communications is a great part of it. Mercury – symbol of communications - is the sole dispositor, and the final dispositor of MC! Mercury is conjunct Chiron (therapy talk) square Saturn and Neptune (a mental illness or weakness, or discussing it). Maybe Saturn opposition Neptune should be read as follows: ending (Saturn) addiction (Neptune).
DISCRETE SUPPORT IS A CRUCIAL ELEMENT
A crucial element of this chart is the support (Jupiter ruler 1 = AC/MC) and discretion (Neptune/Pluto is square Jupiter and AC/MC).

And so it is still today…? Has the therapy been updated following new studies? I hope so for the estimated 2 million members all over the world...

BACKGROUND INFORMATION (LINKS)
I was just reading the chart and I am not an expert on therapies or alcoholism so please follow the links for more about the effectiveness of the AA therapy:

1.What is good about AA? See Orange Papers
2.And what is wrong with AA?: http://www.orange-papers.org/orange-not_good.html
3.Wikipedia about the effectiveness of the AA

PS Now that I am doing this chart, and the chart is ‘ in the news’ transit Uranus – planet of the news - is opposition the Midheaven of the AA. Also transit Pluto is inconjunct the progressed Sun of the AA. The organisation has just been compared with others and their therapies, I recall.

Alan Turing, the chart of a genius

June is the month of birth and death of Alan Turing. His name was mentioned in a lecture about cryptanalysis and I quickly noted it. Here is his chart. Several sources mention this day, place and hour of birth.

CHART OF ALAN TURING

Alan Turing was a mathematician, logician and cryptanalyst. We owe him a lot because he broke German ciphers during WWII using the Enigma machine, one of the first steps to computers. However, there was no gratitude of the authorities, since they prosecuted him for being homosexual. His death is named suicidal but his family doubts that. It could have been accidental death because he died after consuming a poisoned apple...Or did he know too much?
(Unnatural death cause might be reflected by the minor aspects between Mars and Saturn (75 degrees) and between Mars and Pluto (semi square). Minor aspects are sometimes of great importance. They reveal obscure aspects. Find out more about that on this blog...*)

Posthumous recognition came in 1966. There is now an annual Turing Award given by the Association for Computing Machinery.

PALLAS, JUPITER AND URANUS (inventive patterns)
Turing had Pallas conjunct IC, Uranus on Midheaven and Jupiter on the Descendant. Pluto was rising before the Sun, conjunct Venus and the Sun was inconjunct Midheaven. The prominence of Pallas refers to the prominence of PATTERNS (...). Uranus with Midheaven is not only for being controversial in a disproportionate way (inconjunct Sun). Uranus also refers to techniques and mathematics. Mathematical patterns were of crucial importance.
Turing was inventive. He is one of the persons who founded a basis for computer technology. Jupiter and Uranus (symbols of the inventive mind) are angular, with Pallas...That means that he is inventive in finding patterns.

He had an orientation on Pluto-related affairs: money, influence, power, politics, danger, cases of life and death and sexuality, strongly going together with the earning money and intense sympathies and desires. Venus and Pluto are semi sextile Saturn, reflecting a possible disadvantage regarding the axis of money and love-sex nature. He had to undergo cruel chemical castration as a sort of a punishment for being gay; otherwise he had to go to jail! That was in the year before he died, in 1954.

PROMINENT
It takes a lot of prominent planets to become prominent. Alan Turing had six 'calling' planets (planets with no aspect within 5 degrees and within sign):

Sun without major aspects
Mercury without major aspects
Jupiter without major aspects and conjunct Descendant
Saturn without major aspects
Uranus without major aspects and conjunct Midheaven
Neptune without major aspects

Those are 6 out of 10 planets! This offers many chances and abilities. Jupiter and Uranus are the most important planets. So is Pluto (because Pluto rises before the Sun). Just like in the chart of Igor Stravinsky (see my blog Art&Astrology http://art-astrology.blogspot.com/2009/06/astrology-chart-igor-stravinsky.html), the prominence of the Uranus-Pluto combination lead to an arrest.

INCONJUNCTIONS
There are two inconjunctions: Mercury is inconjunct Jupiter for exaggerating facts. The Sun is inconjunct Uranus for being controversial (different from the rest) in a disproportionate way. Inconjunctions refer to 'lost'. The lost of a dear friend in 1930 (with Venus inconjunct MC in the progressed chart) hurt him deeply. Inconjunctions also refer to a 'but...'. The Mercury-Jupiter combination involves successful communication. But...the inconjunction tells us that he talked too much or...knew too much, just as the title of the book about him (written by David Leavitt) mentions...

PS MC is 157.5 degrees from Neptune/Pluto, Sun is conjunct Pluto (out of sign) and half semi square Neptune. The Neptune/Pluto combination reflects the theme of the silent force, hidden power and the dangerous secrets that is often found in the charts of magicians, and of detectives, too. Neptune/Pluto forces to be discrete. Click to find out more about that...

*) Minor aspects, major impact...

Chart of Tiger Woods (and what he has in common with Sourav Ganguly)

Tiger Woods will be one of the speakers on Inauguration Day, in the morning. Interesting that his Mercury, symbol of communications and dispositor of his Midheaven and Ascendant, is conjunct the MC of the moment of Inauguration...

Tiger Woods is a very successful golf player. Sourav Ganguly is a famous cricket player. The tools are in both cases a stick and a ball (as you may notice, I am not an expert in sports:). In both cases there was a great influence of the father in the career. I wondered in what way their charts would be alike and I found a lot. There is a complete list when you scroll down. But first, the highlights!

You will find that both have an important Saturn, Pallas and Moon. And that they share a Gemini Midheaven. Saturn is the symbol of the parent (and ambition:) and the Moon reflects among other things, education and early years. Sourav an Tiger both have an important Pallas. Pallas is the symbol of patterns and often of importance in the charts of artists. I think Pallas is the symbol of associating (bringing together, linking, to unite ideas and experiences from the past).
Moon and Neptune are important in the pattern of artistic talents that you see on my blog Art & Astrology. They reflect imagination and vision. A golf player has to be able to 'have a vision' of the future routing of the ball. Both have Moon and Neptune close to the meridian. Here are the charts:

And here you see what they share:

1. Gemini Midheaven

2. Prominent placement of the Moon (Sourav on top,Tiger on IC)

3. Prominence of Saturn (Sourav oriental, Tiger 'calling'*)

4. Important Pallas: Pallas sesquisquare ASC/MC and on DESC, square Midheaven (Woods) and Pallas semi square Sun/Moon and conjunct Mercury ruler ASC and MC (Sourav)

5. Both have Moon and Neptune close to the meridian
Moon on ASC/MC for Tiger, Neptune on ASC/MC for Sourav

6. Moon in movable sign

7. They share major aspects between:
- Sun and Uranus
- Moon and Mars
- Mercury and Saturn
- Venus and Saturn
- Jupiter and Pluto

8. Aries Point is involved in a midpoint combination that includes Jupiter and Pluto

Woods AP sq Sun/Moon, opp Venus/Saturn, semisq Jupiter/Neptune, conj Sun/Mars, sesqu Mars/Pluto and semi sq Mars/Jupiter

Ganguly AP sesquisquare Jupiter/Pluto, 157.5 Mercury/Jupiter and Mercury/Pluto, square Jupiter/MC and sesquisquare Pluto/MC and AP square Jupiter

BTW, Jupiter is the symbol of support, joy and a positive attitude. Woods' Jupiter is square Ganguly's ASC/MC, Ganguly's Jupiter is conjunct Woods' Sun/Moon. And this is the picture of the two together.

*) 'Calling' = without Ptolemaic aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. Oriental means: rising before the Sun as first important planet

Astrology chart Tycho Brahe; Ceres and Pallas square Midheaven

Tycho Brahe was an astronomer. He also was an astrologer. It is easy to see how both sides are united in his professional career:

1. Sagittarius Midheaven, ruled by Jupiter in Aquarius, disposed by Uranus in Virgo, disposed by

2. Mercury in Capricorn and Capricorn ruled by Saturn in Sagittarius.

You see the Jupiter-Uranus connection that is indispensable in the charts of astrologers and astronauts and frequent in the charts of modern popes. It is the combination of having a view at things that go beyond earthly matters and matter. This combination is confirmed by Jupiter in connection with Sun/Uranus. Uranus symbolizes a lot and for example the extra terrestial, since Uranus is the first planet that is not visible from earth. In the days of Brahe Uranus had not been discovered yet.

You also see Mercury and Saturn involved. Mercury and Saturn are rising before the Sun of Tycho Brahe. It is the combination of science (respected knowledge) and the oriental placement symbolizes that Brahe was first of all a scientist.

CERES AND PALLAS (Patterns of resources)
Ceres and Pallas are recent additions to the astrologer's vocabulary. And both are strongly related to the Midheaven and conjunct. Ceres is the planet of resources (nutrition, nurturing mother, alma mater, seed) and Pallas is the symbol of patterns. Brahe was searching the sky and Brahe was practising alchemy to find patterns in the basics and origins of life.

FAME: SATURN CONJUNCT MERCURY
In 1572 he found a super nova in Cassiopeia and became famous in the world of astronomy. That was with Progressed Saturn conjunct Mercury! You see the strong scientific symbol that was oriental in his natal chart, in conjunction in progression, announcing the start of a scientific career with status.

LEAVING DENMARK: CHANGING MC AFTER PROGRESSED CONJUNCTION OF SUN AND PLUTO
In 1597 he had conflicts with the new king and the church and left Denmark for Prague when his progressed Midheaven changed sign to Aquarius. In the progressed chart Pluto had become the oriental planet, since in 1596 there was a progressed conjunction of Sun and Pluto (for a life changing challenge).

THE SCAR: PROGRESSED ASCENDANT CONJUNCT MARS
Try and see for yourself how amazingly accurate this chart is. The progressed chart of the days around Christmas in 1566 is conjunct his natal Mars. Mars symbolizes injuries and scars. In those days a fellow student hit his nose in a duel in the dark. For the rest of his life he tried to hide the scar with artificial means. Venus and Pluto with the Ascendant could of course symbolize extreme vanity:)

Day of birth of Pierre Omidyar (Ebay): born to be leading in business

The day of birth of Pierre Omidyar, founder of Ebay, was a special day. On that day, the Sun was 'calling' (no major aspects in sign), Pallas was conjunct the Sun and rising before the Sun, Saturn was the classical oriental planet and finally: Venus and Chiron were connected to Aries Point. The closest aspect on that day (apart from the aspects with the Moon) was Jupiter semi square Uranus. This is the day that a peson could be born who is a:

- leading figure, drawing attention at any level (Sun)
- a person who is focussed on patterns (Pallas)
- a business man, hierarchic, serious, perhaps in science (Saturn oriental)
- inventive (Jupiter with Uranus)
- and know as a nice and alternative person (Venus and Chiron; think of charity).

And we even don't know what time he was born! Within the right conditions and situations the chart offered the possibility and characteristics of a successful business man. The time line produces a progressed square of Mercury and Saturn in 1995, when he started Ebay, the website and business (Saturn) met communications (Mercury) or science (Saturn) met commerce (Mercury). He became rich in short time in 1998, with Mercury still square Saturn in progression, because Mercury had been retrograding.
