Mars-Saturn-Pluto synastry (sinester?)

Ten years ago today, movie director Theo van Gogh (born July 23, 1957 at about 12:10 in The Hague, Netherlands) was brutally murdered in Amsterdam. His killer (March 8, 1978) had his Mars on the Midheaven of the victim and his Pluto on the Ascendant of the victim. Ergo, his Saturn was on the midpoint Mars/Pluto of the victim. This midpoint combination of Mars, Saturn and Pluto generally warns for danger. But is that combination always so sinister?

Of course there was more in the case of Van Gogh.
Both killer and victim had an important Mars. The killer's Mars was out of bounds. The victim's Mars was semi square the natal midpoint Sun/Moon and widely conjunct Mercury.

When he died Theo van Gogh had transit Pluto square his progressed Mars and trine natal Mars. He also had the transiting ruler of the 8th house, Venus, conjunct his progressed Mars. This way, the old and new ruler of the 8th house in astrology were active.  On that specific day there was a more than average risk to get hurt or to die.
His killer was born on March 8, 1978 and 26 years old. He had the progressed Sun conjunct his Eris with transit Saturn exactly on his progressed Mars as a manifest of discord with an issue of death (and punishment). He serves life in prison.

There was a double dangerous aspect combination in the synastry.
1. The killer's Mars + Pluto with the angles of the chart of the victim.
2. The killer's Saturn on the victim's Mars/Pluto midpoint.

A few years ago I published a book about midpoint combinations in Dutch and I told the public that Mars-Saturn-Pluto combinations express:
"exhaustion, working too hard. There is a tendency to get into violent situation or to use violence. Wants to win in spite of resistance".
One more example:
Pim Fortuyn, a Dutch politician, was murdered by an activist whose Saturn/Pluto midpoint was semi square his Out of Bounds Mars. His victim had an OOB Pluto and Saturn conjunct MC, close to Mars and Pluto.

A recent third example was mentioned by Dr. Phil a few months back. 6 year old Max fell in a most peculiar way over the balcony at home, riding his little bike. After a period of coma, he died. Two years later his stepmother Rebecca Zahau born March 15, 1979, was found hanging from the balcony, with hands and feet tied. The police still thinks it is suicide and also that the death of the boy was an accident. Now where is the Mars-Saturn-Pluto theme?

The stepmother's chart has Mars opposite Saturn and biquintile Pluto.
Max's chart (June 7 2005) has an out of bounds Moon, Mercury and Venus, with Mars trine Saturn and square Pluto. In 2011 his progressed Sun was opposite Pluto.

Now the synastry: her Sun is conjunct his Mars. Her Sun is square his Pluto and trine his Saturn.
click and open in new window for a larger picture

There is a strange connection between the two lives ended the unnatural way, their charts pointing at the danger of death and the synastry that relates the life of one person with the untimely death of the other.

I am glad that my puppy's Mars/Saturn on my Pluto is the only nasty synastry between us:). Her Venus is trine mine. She bites a bit, though...
Please consider that any Mars-Saturn-Pluto combination is a warning, not an omen that  should be seen in the light of circumstances, characters, situations, genes, culture and all else that is more important than the warning in a chart. The exact time of birth is also very important. Such aspect combinations mirror what sort of thing might happen, but it depends on many factors IF, HOW and WHAT exactly will happen or HOW this combination influences a relationship. Or else, we would all die the same day! It also depends on the prominence of Mars, Saturn or Pluto and on the question if your actions might have a boomerang effect, I guess.
If she bites with those little teeth, again, I will tell her to stop!:)

PS On THEO VAN GOGH THE ARTIST
Van Gogh was a director and an author. Both professions require creativity and style. It also takes the ability to 'direct' to be a director. Those qualities are in the chart:

1. His Sun is 'calling' (no Ptolemaic aspects in sign). That is for drawing attention and leadership.
2. Cancer on Midheaven with the Moon in Gemini for communications.
3. Venus sextile Neptune and in minor aspect (75 d) with the Moon for the pattern of artistic talent, together with Venus semi quintile MC and biquintile IC.
4. Jupiter in between Venus and Neptune for fans and followers
5. Mercury and Mars both connected to Sun/Moon midpoint highlights discussions and the 'sharp tongue'

70 percent of the placements in fire signs show the tendency to take risks. Mercury with Uranus/Pluto mirrors the sometimes radical opinion that was an excuse for the slaughter of a controversial newsmaker who also happened to be a loving father and an artist.

The Kensington Palace house warming party

Like Prince William I am fond of the music of Bon Jovi, the band with the positive sound:). Bon Jovi will play in the garden of Kensington Palace on November 26, 2013. That is when the house warming party of William and Kate takes place.  I have been there in the Orangery, with my husband and had afternoon tea with Debby, an American astrology friend and her husband. Recommended!

I have written about the talent in the chart of Jon Bon Jovi on Art&Astrology.
Quote:

  • Venus in Pisces
  • Cancer Midheaven
  • Libra Ascendant
  • Moon sextile Venus and quintile Neptune
  • Venus exactly trine Midheaven
  • Moon opposition Midheaven
 That is a complete pattern.

Here is his chart for November 26, 2013. That is when Jon Bon Jovi's Ascendant is hit by nice Venus. Jon Bon Jovi's Jupiter is square Prince William's Venus. Venus-Jupiter: such a synastry is OK for a party!

Frederick William II: a Libra loving ladies and art

The love life of Frederick William II of Prussia was rather complicated. He married, had 1 child, divorced, married again and had 6 children. Meanwhile he had 7 children in two morganatic (bigamist) marriages and with Wilhelmine Enke, his official mistress. This is his portrait. It seems that he had a more than average BMI.

Charts show us what we know of people. He was thickset and burly, very clean (body and house). Let's see what his chart says.

ART
The astrological pattern of artistic talent is (as you may see on Art&Astrology) a mixture of aspects between Moon, Venus, Neptune and MC, together with placements of these 4 components in the signs ruled by Moon (Cancer), Venus (Taurus and Libra) and Neptune (Pisces). Frederick William II had Sun in Libra, Moon in Taurus, Venus in Libra, Neptune in Cancer. Venus was square Neptune and inconjunct Moon. The Moon was sextile Neptune. Neptune was sextile MC. That is a complete pattern. He was a talented cellist. Beethoven and Mozart enjoyed his patronage.

WOMEN
Often, the romantic nature of the artist leads to love adventures. The same fantasy, ideals and visions that help an artist to create something that we love, helps him or her to be involved in love affairs. In his chart, symbols of women are of crucial importance. Consider his mighty position as a monarch ...and you know the rest.

1. The Moon is on the Descendant. That is an important position for the Moon in Taurus. It means that his needs were important, too. As the Moon is one of the symbols for women, women are important (according to the chart).
2. Juno is on his MC. Juno is the symbol of the married woman and of marriage. An angular Juno signals the importance of marriage and women in general. MC with Juno links his reputation to his marriages.

Venus square Neptune is one of the 4 aspects that appear to be frequent in the charts of divorced men.

OVERWEIGHT/BURLY
A Taurus Moon square Jupiter (longing for a lot, habit of overeating) and a fanatic Scorpio Ascendant make it harder NOT to eat. In 'Obese and astrology' on Astromarkt I mention these and other astrological factors to blame...but maybe Ceres trine the Ascendant also eases the access to food.
The Scorpio Ascendant is conjunct Pluto opposition Moon and square Mars. This intensifies needs and energy. He had enough of both for all the ladies in his life:).

MISTRESS
He was a Libra born September 25, 1744. Wilhelmine was born on a December 29, 1753.
Here is his chart. The 'transits' are for the day of birth of Wilhelmine Enke. Their charts don't seem to 'match' much.

chart of Friedrich Wilhelm II and position of Wilhelmine Enke

SATURN IN VIRGO
Last but least: Saturn in Virgo rises before his Sun. He was first of all the son of his father, someone with a position in society. Virgo is the clean sign. Perhaps this position of Saturn and the Moon in the sixth house contributed to the need to wash himself, get rid of carpets and keep the air clean?

The pattern of artistic and political talent

When you study the charts of artists and politicians, you may notice that many of them have the same 'trio' in aspect. For art (and entertainment or art craft) I see Moon-Venus-Neptune and for politics Mercury-Saturn-Pluto. Not always, but very often…

ART
My blog Art&Astrology (http://art-astrology.blogspot.com) is completely dedicated to the astrological pattern of artistic talent, shown by means of the charts of dozens of artists, musicians, painters, photographers, directors and singers. What is that pattern?

Venus is the symbol of beauty and style. Venus rules Taurus and Libra.
Moon is the symbol of senses and of moods. The Moon rules Cancer.
Neptune is the symbol of vision and fantasy. Neptune rules Pisces.

All aspects (minor, major, soft or hard) between Moon, Venus and Neptune create the pattern of talent. For example: Moon semi sextile Venus and inconjunct Neptune or Venus trine Moon and square Neptune. Or: Moon novile Venus and Venus biquintile Neptune.
Placements of Venus, Moon or Neptune in the signs that they rule  attribute to the pattern. For example: Venus in Cancer, Moon in Taurus and Neptune in Libra.
The Ascendant or Midheaven in those signs are also a big help.

The MC in aspect with one, two or all three (Moon, Venus and Neptune) links the talent to the public and the career.

Most examples on Art&Astrology have this pattern in the chart. There are always exceptions. Sometimes people are born in a family of artist and find a job there. They were trained from the beginning. In those cases sometimes we see Saturn rising before the Sun or an important Ceres. Example? Bette Davis http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/04/chart-of-exceptional-bette-davis.html#links

POLITICS
There are more of such patterns in charts. I think of the Mercury-Saturn-Pluto combination in the charts of politicians. Aspects (again: major or minor, strong or weak) between Mercury, Saturn and Pluto and placements of these 3 in the signs that they rule (or of the Ascendant or MC) are frequent in the charts of politicians. This is often- not always!- in combination with a Moon-Jupiter aspect.
Start reading the examples by using the label 'politics' and you find:

  • Chavez

Mercury novile Pluto. Mercury/Pluto midpoint in hard aspect with Saturn.
Moon conjunct Jupiter

  • Ed Koch

Quote: Just like most of the American president (and many politicians) there is a Mercury-Saturn-Pluto combinations  for political correct answers and strategic communications together with this Moon-Jupiter aspect.

  •  Bill Clinton

Mercury conjunct Saturn and Pluto; Pluto square midpoint Mercury/Saturn
Moon sextile Jupiter

  • Hans-Rufolf Merz (Swiss politician)

Mercury in Scoprio, biquintile Saturn and square Pluito. That is the signature of the communication strategy (the political mind).
Probably no Moon-Jupiter

  • Angelika Merkel

Mercury semi square Pluto and half semi square Saturn in Scorpio

and more.

There are always exceptions. Barack Obama doesn't have this patter in the natal chart. However, when he won the Elections in 2008 Mercury made very tight aspects with both Saturn and Pluto (square and semi square). Here is that progressed chart of the president who wasn't born to be a politician, but who learned to become the most powerful one.

Chart of the exceptional Bette Davis

My blog Art-astrology.blogspot.com is filled with charts of artists and actors and musicians with a specific pattern in their charts. There is always an exception, for every rule, however. Betty Davis doesn't have the usual pattern for talent, demonstrated by a combination of aspects between Moon, Venus and Neptune, related to Midheaven and the signs Taurus, Libra, Pisces and Cancer. There is only a tight square of Venus and Midheaven, relating her career to entertainment, beauty or diplomacy. Betty or Bette Davis made her way to the top with discipline, passion and hard work.

SATURN for ambition, parents and parenthood
Her Sun/Moon midpoint is semi square Saturn.
Saturn rises before the Sun.
The importance of Saturn shows how serious and ambitious Betty Davis was. She followed her mother's dream… She had classical schooling in drama. That is very Saturn! Sun/Moon with Saturn is motivated to climb in society. Saturn as the orientational planet gave her a serious approach.

MARS for energy and drive
Mars is 'calling' (no aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees) and square Midheaven. She worked hard, I guess. Was she a 'Streber'?  She certainly wouldn't like to fail.

VENUS-MARS-MC: passion for the job
But there is also passion.
There is an out of sign conjunction with Venus that is hard to be overlooked. The Venus-Mars conjunction is related to MC.
(This conjunction is situated in her 7th house of marriage. She married 4 times - Sun square Uranus+Mars sextile Saturn, Gemini Moon and Venus in 7).

SUN SQUARE AND MOON INCONJUNCT URANUS: independence highlighted
The tightest aspect in her chart is Moon inconjunct Uranus, the somewhat unbalanced need for excitement and change.
As the Sun is square Uranus, there is an aspect combination of Sun/Moon/Uranus that is telling us about being motivated by tension and anything new. The Sun-Moon combination with Uranus also speaks of tension in marriage related to being 'different' or 'special' in heart and soul. There is a correspondence with the way Sun/Moon midpoint in aspect with Uranus mirrors independence being highlighted. She was exceptional, not the usual stuff and she showed it.
http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/05/sunmoonuranus-midpoint-combinations.html

The Scorpio Ascendant matches her way to be rude sometimes.

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER
Here is her chart with the transits of the day that her daughter, whom she referred to as 'Hyman' sometimes, was born. Their relationship was bad. Betty Davis disinherited her. May I point at her Ceres (motherhood, genes, heirloom) inconjunct (=loss) the daughter's natal Sun? As she said: ' If you have never been hated by a child, you have never been a parent'. Her Ceres happens to be conjunct her midpoint Ascendant/Midheaven, illustrating the crucial importance of motherhood and ... her own mother, who wanted so much to see her daughter in a theatre or in the movies.

PS The Sun is in the 5th house of games and plays. I suppose that she was born shortly before 9 pm, so that her Midheaven is in Leo and the Sun in the 5th more related to the star on stage.
