The chart of Nelson Mandela day

The United Nations announced that July 18 will be ‘ Nelson Mandela’ day from now on. The 18th of July is his birthday.

BELOVED, ADMIRED: VENUS!
Nelson Mandela is a beloved and admired person. The most prominently placed planet in his natal chart is Venus on the Descendant, conjunct Southern Node, reflecting the admiration. He is very much motivated by the love of the community (midpoint Sun/Moon square Venus and Node) and it is his behaviour (during prison and towards his former enemies) that is one of the most important sources for admiration. Behaviour (presentation, how you do it…) is symbolized by the Ascendant (the horizontal line in the chart). With Venus there, you tend to be nice, polite, a diplomate and sympathic.]

Uranus is a very important planet, too, as you may read in ‘ The theme of freedom’. The announcement of Nelson Mandela-day comes with transits of the prominent Uranus with the prominent Venus (square) and with the vital midpoint Sun/Moon (opposition). Having a day named after you is of course the ultimate pleasant (Venus) surprise (Uranus) and very motivating (Sun/Moon)!

Another reflection of his popularity is the position of Jupiter, ruler 1, in the seventh house. That increases the number of partners and the general idea that it is a pleasure to have company. He is very good at networking (Venus and Jupiter in the seventh house)!

SYMBOL
Nelson Mandela is also a legendary person. Perhaps that is why we see the MC semi square Neptune/Pluto and the natal Sun between Neptune and Pluto. Neptune is parallel with Pluto. Neptune and Pluto are the combination of the secret or hidden force (and they have been hiding him for 27 years...). It is also a combination of discretion, related to the social position.

THE THEME OF FREEDOM
I have written about Mandela and his chart before in a post with the natal chart and transits of the day of his conviction, when he had Saturn opposition Midheaven and Uranus conjunct Midheaven. The combination of Saturn and Uranus is the combination of restricted freedom and of breaking free; in other words Saturn-Uranus is reflecting the theme of limited independence.

The issue of Saturn and Uranus came back on February 11, 1990, the day of his regained freedom. Progressed Ascendant conjunct Uranus and opposition Saturn reflected the moment of ‘ breaking free’ . Progressed Saturn was trine his natal Ascendant.

In the summer of 1994 he got the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Progressed Midheaven was square Saturn and Uranus!

Why are Saturn and Uranus so important in transits and progressions? Maybe it is because Uranus is important.
Uranus is the focal planet in the funnel shape chart and is placed in the third house, ruling the third house of communicatons and in a very telling inconjunction with the Sun: he lost (inconjunction) part of his life and freedom in a rather disproportionate and contradictional way: in order to be free. Sun inconjunct Uranus is also showing that he is unconventional and subject to controversies.

The midpoint Saturn/Uranus is in hard aspect with Moon (opposition, it is a midpoint Yod) and with Pluto. Moon is sesquisquare Pluto. Moon is in mutual reception with Pluto. Pluto is the planet rising before the Sun. He experienced imprisonment, stress and pressure, but he had a strong enough personality to be able to resist, survive and come back to be a President. The Sun is placed on the midpoint Saturn/Pluto, mirroring the ‘ die hard’ . (More about die hards and Saturn/Pluto on Astromarkt).

It is a strange chart for a President and for a man with a day named after him. Mercury ruler MC is conjunct Saturn and parallel Saturn. Saturn is the planet of the administration, ambition, classical studies and management. Pluto is sextile Midheaven, making the strongest Ptolemaic aspect. The combination of Mercury, Saturn and Pluto is the combination of knowing what NOT to say (strategic thinking) that is so often seen in the charts of politicians, like those of the American presidents in the study on Astromarkt.

SUCCESS
But I would have like to see a stronger statement in the chart of Mandela. This chart is reflecting a beloved politician with a ‘ mystic ‘ reputation. Jupiter ruler 1 conjunct Pluto (the planet of orientation), are both rising before the Sun. Jupiter is semi square the ruler of Midheaven and sextile Midheaven, just like Pluto is.

Once you know that this is the chart of a person with a day named after him, you see the combination of successes rising before his natal sun and related to the MC, the Ascendant (by rulership) and the ruler of Midheaven. The charts angels are related to Jupiter and Pluto and they are related to Midheaven. Maybe that is the key to his success.

NELSON MANDELA and Saturn/Uranus

It is Mandela Day...See Astropost: NELSON MANDELA, HIS CHART and the transits on June 12, 1964 and see Twitter.com/Astropost the link to more about Mandela's chart. His life in prison started with transit Saturn opposition MC (for the lowest point in his life) and Uranus close to the MC (for a shocking change). And 27 years later: it is progressed Ascendant conjunct Uranus and opposition Saturn.

Saturn and Uranus together are the symbols of freedom and its limitations. In short:

Natascha Kampusch has Saturn and Uranus sextile Sun. Saturn and Uranus rule 60% of her chart. Jaycee Lee Dugard has Sun/Maan=Saturn/Uranus. O.J. Simpson has Sun conjunct Saturn/Uranus. Al Capone had Sun semi square Santru/Uranus. Amanda Knox's Mars is in aspect with Saturn and Uranus. Her Sun is inconjunct Saturn and 157.5 d (sesquisquare and half semisquare) Uranus.

Remembering the release of Nelson Mandela

Astrodatabank says that there is no hour of birth, because nobody noticed and it was not considered important in those days, when Nelson Mandela was born. Every hour of birth is speculation and is being contradicted by outher sources of information. So let's not have a specific look at the Ascendant, MC, houses or degree of the Moon. Let's have a look at the main information (the Astro ID):

- Pluto rising before the Sun
A strategist in the first place, a politician. Pluto is close to Venus and Jupiter and that combination is a sort of a statement for being loved by the millions.
The combination of an important Sun and Pluto refers to political leadership (coaching others).
- Uranus opposition Quaoar and sesquisquare Mars
Provoking the creation of a new reality by action (a freedom fighter)...

There is more about Mandela on this blog, including more chart readings. See those posts here...

*)More specifics:
The Sun without major aspects within 5 degrees...That is for someone who draws attention, a leader. Unless he is born with a trine with the Moon, like when he is born after 14.00 hours, the Sun is 'calling' in Nelson Mandela's natal chart.

The crisis in Nelson Mandela's chart

When you watch the chart, transits and progressions of Nelson Mandela, the crisis is eminent. It usually takes more than two important transits and progressions to indicate a main event or situation (the rule of three). Astro.com provides a DD-rated chart (which means that the hour of birth is practically unknown). Even without using the Ascendant and Midheaven or Progressed Moon it is obvious that there is crisis going on in the life of the former President of South Africa. This is the list:

  •  Pluto
Pluto is in the 11th degree of Capricorn. That is 165 degrees from the natal Sun of Mandela (26th of Cancer). An aspect of 165 degrees is a quindecile. A quindecile shows an obsessive situation, a strong focus. Pluto indicates challenges, danger and stress. The Sun means life and health. It is the picture of 'health strongly in danger'.
  •  Uranus
Uranus is in the 13th degree of Aries (12d5m today) That is 165 degrees from the progressed Sun of Mandela, now in the 28th of Libra. Again you see the difficult quindecile and the Sun (health). Uranus shows unexpected news, tension and change.

Together, Uranus and Pluto are indications of dramatic or intens change.
  • Uranus is now opposite his Mars.
That is not for the first time and it won't be the last. Complications like sudden fever or infections or accidents and incidents may occur during such a transit.
  • Transit Pluto is going to square his Mars
A new challenge, maybe a dangerous infection.

  • There is help: Jupiter
For the moment transit Jupiter is trine his progressed Sun. Jupiter helps. Jupiter helps you succeed. But Jupiter is often prominently present in the charts of the ill and dying, because Jupiter refers to doctors and to 'the journey' of life or the help 'on the way'. Medications seem to help him, right now, according to his grandson.
(It may also help that he has Pluto rising before the Sun and Moon in Scorpio in the natal chart. Those people don't give up easily.)

The crisis is in the chart. We don't know how this will end. He is very old, but he is also surrounded by doctors. Pluto means crisis, but doesn't give an answer to questions about the result of the stress of a period of life and death. Some survive and conquer the crisis, even at old age. Nevertheless: he is 94! He is facing the final years. Perhaps that is the symbol of:
  • progressed Sun quintile Saturn (creatively ending - a period in- life)

This is the DD-rated chart with transits and progressions:

Zero Aries (Aries Point)

Soon Jupiter and Uranus will be conjunct the first degree of the Zodiac, nick named Zero Aries. It should be Uno Aries, unless you consider the final degree of Pisces to be conjunct Zero Aries, too. Zero Aries or Aries Point is supposed to be the degree that shows you how you are 'known' or what you are known for and how you interface with those outside of your social circle/family. That is said, but is it true? This post offers some material for your study and gives examples. Continue if you are interested..

NELSON MANDELA, HIS CHART and the transits on June 12, 1964

On June 12, 1964 Nelson Mandela was sentenced to life in prison. Here you see his natal chart (source is Noel Tyl: Vocations) with the transits of June 12, 1964. His life in prison started with transit Saturn opposition MC (for the lowest point in his life) and Uranus close to the MC (for a shocking change). Saturn and Uranus together are the symbols of freedom and its limitations*).

When he was released, 27 years later, on February 11, 1990 there was transit Jupiter conjunct Jupiter, ruler 1 - for pure hapiness. But there were hard political confrontations at the same time. They are symbolised by transit Saturnus sesquisquare the Midheaven and progressed MC conjunct Moon and sesquisquare Pluto. This is what made him drive straight towards the head office of ANC on the day and hour of his freedom. Pluto is for a comeback and Saturn certainly did not make it easy.

Oh yes..And of course the combination of Saturn and Uranus is present again: progressed Ascendant conjunct Uranus and opposition Saturn!

In Februari 1994 he was elected president of South-Africa with progressed Moon conjunct Midheaven. Later (in summer) the progressed MC made two squares. One with progressed Uranus and one with progressed Saturn! Is not it typical that at that time he got the Presidential Medal of Freedom?

BTW...notice the position of Pluto, oriental in his chart for the impact of politics, influence, power, strength etc, that made him first of all a politician.

*)More examples of the limited-freedom combination are to be found on the left, Labels, Saturn and Uranus...

Moon, Saturn and hard aspects

Oops, this post flew away before I ended it...Maybe it was high time that it went? I was just thinking out loud about Moon and Saturn.

A day before yesterday (for others yesterday) I wrote about Pat Robertson. I mentioned the Moon in Capricorn conjunct Saturn in his chart (together with his Sun inconjunct Neptune), related to blaming the Haitian victims. Later I spoke to a family member with Moon in Sagittarius conjunct Saturn, on the Ascendant. That makes the aspect important in her chart. She said she didn’t know if Robertson was right or wrong (hesitating). I also saw a comment about a fan of Mr. Robertson, also with Moon in Capricorn conjunct Saturn. It is Moon-Saturn time!
I have a family of Moon-Saturn people and some of them have Moon conjunct Saturn. From this point of view, I see Moon conjunct Saturn as emotions hiding behind a stone wall. There may be door, but the door only opens for close, intimate and trusted happy few persons. You may enter the circle if you are close, but strictly on their terms and once you hurt them, you are out (unless you are needed). Others just face the bricks and hit the wall or a decent, polite smile. When a Moon-Saturn ages, it is obvious that he/she love regularity more than others do. The Moon-Saturn seems to be happier with old age than others are. That might be because rules, limitations and restrictions simply suite them. They are not fond of surprises, big parties and a crowded living room. Consistency in habits, that is what they want, and time schedules. Moon-Saturn people are great at taking care for the elderly, too. Their old fashioned manners are a great help on the job!

WALL
Often those bricks in the wall were built with tears shed in a long forgotten period; most of the time however it is the Moon-Saturn who keeps placing new layers of bricks on the wall. They construct them with the concrete of nasty experiences and fear, felt offenses, and the fear to be rejected. This is even stronger when the Moon and Saturn are angular or rising before the Sun. It takes a lot of smiles and warmth to break the ice around a Moon-Saturn. Those who don’t follow the Moon-Saturn’s rules will never really belong to the inner circle. Rules and traditions and time plannings need to be respected in the house of a Moon-Saturn. They often don’t need a crowd around them and don’t mind being alone for a period of time. That makes it easy to shape a distance.

BAD MEMORIES
For a Moon – Saturn it is easier to remember the nasty and bad events than to have good memories. Ask a Moon-Saturn about a recent party and they start complaining about the food, the waiter and the fact that someone sat on their chair. The aspects of the Moon in a chart don’t show what really happened, they show the response and the memory. It just might be that their company had a splendid night. In a family one child can have Moon-Saturn and the other one Moon-Jupiter and though they had the same parents the first one will remember the difficulties (and feel deserted) and the last one might be the most wanted child and feel great (whatever happened).

BREAKING
It is easier for a Capricorn Moon conjunct Saturn to break up with parents and family than it would be for a Moon Cancer conjunct Jupiter person, even in the same circumstances. With a tight conflict between Moon and Saturn it is also easy to feel guilt and shame about errors of the past. That is why they like to keep a distance, stick by the rules and be as ‘ normal’ and ‘ decent’ as they can be.

KEEPING UP APPEARANCES
Even with an easy trine between Moon and Saturn it is hard not to control feelings and cry in public, for example. Believe me, I know! I have Moon trine Saturn and when I get tears in my eyes, I walk away or put dark glasses on. Of course, with a Moon-Saturn family, it is always been ‘ not done’ to cry (“ why? You are old enough not to cry, aren’t you?”) Moon-Saturns have the feeling that they were thought not to show emotions and that it is better to keep it that way and they pass this message on to the next generation. Why? They don't want to look silly. It is very important for the Moon conjunct Saturn what the neighbourhood or family members might think of them. It is a bit like mrs. Bouquet in ‘ Keeping up appearances’ (the television serie is one of Queen Elizabeth’s favourites☺. But it is not about looking richer than you are, it is about looking cooler than you are.

In general, Moon-Saturn is afraid of personal emotional commitment, to avoid grieve. They start worrying when they have feelings for a person. So it is good for a Moon-Saturn person not to feel close and not to care unless the law or parenthood or feelings of guilt make it a necessity. Is that wrong? Is that hard? Is it cruel? Maybe. And yes, it is hard to hit a wall.

Let me give an example. A Moon conjunct Saturn lady noticed a woman, silenty crying over her food in a senior resident’s restaurant. ‘Oh, there she goes again’ she said with tight lips. ‘Her husband died two weeks ago and she hasn’t been able to stop crying, she says. But when she does, why in the restaurant? Is it just to draw attention…? Why doesn’t she move over to the ladies room when she feels it coming? How can she be so sad about a man who wasn’t even kind to her? You know, she complained about him a week before he died and now she misses him.’ No, she didn’t reach out. A professional did and gave the sobbing lady a handkerchief. ‘Ah’ said the Moon-Saturn, reaching for her bag, ‘ if you need some more, here they are…’. Moon-Saturn is very efficient in supplying what is needed, except when it is about emotions. Often they have had their share in their eyes and that is enough. Imagine that nurses would show and feel emotions all day. It would be unbearable (at least, in a Moon-Saturn’s eye:). They keep a certain emotional distance for professional reasons. Moon-Saturns do it for personal reasons, too.

MORE EXAMPLES

Another Moon conjunct Saturn (in Cancer), lost her mother when she was a young mother herself. She had broken with her mother soon after marriage, but they got together again (Cancer! They need a family). It is very hard for her to get connected to the remaining family members. She is only child and lives miles away from the rest. But, with Moon conjunct Saturn she also never shows feelings or mentions them.

Famous Moon - Saturns? I don’t know many of them, and that is because Moon-Saturn people are rarely popular. Like late Theo van Gogh, murdered because of his sometimes offending opinions by a muslim terrorist: Moon opposition Saturn. And like J.K. Rowling: Moon opposition Saturn. She manages to keep her private life for herself. Amanda Knox has the Moon and Saturn in Sagittarius (and that probably is of influence in the way that people see her; they don’t understand the lack of emotion on her face). George W. Bush has Moon 112.5 Saturn (square + half semisquare!).

And of course there is a seemingly exception: Princess Maxima of the Netherlands, with Moon in Aquarius square Saturn (and Sun conjunct Saturn). People often mention her spontaneous and cheerful ways. Venus trine the Sagittarian Ascendant gives her beauty and charm. That compensates a lot of what is efficient and cool, especially now that she is still ‘young’ and not in function as a queen. (Saturn is rising before her Sun, too: duty, protocol, ambition and status first, always with a charming presentation). It is a so much different style and moods than those of Princess Diana (who also had a late Aquarian Moon, but opposition Uranus.) It is all in control, and when she cried at the wedding it was one tear, caught in a handkerchief, and silent, of course, very decent. Royalty doesn’t cry. Nelson Mandela has a 12th house Scorpio Moon square Saturn. He also has a compensating Venus opposition Ascendant. That makes him a beloved person. See more about his chart…http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/11/chart-of-nelson-mandela-day.html

Final example: Queen Mother Elizabeth (born August 4, 1900 at 00:30 GMT) had Moon in Scorpio semi square Saturn. Read about the relationship with her daughter in law…

CONCLUSION
Is there something good about Moon-Saturn? Yes there is. They are orderly and they are caring parents, though they won’t demonstrate their feelings. They use to stick to the law and the rules and they won’t keep you awake in the middle of the night because they are having a party. When they commit themselves, it is enduring and consistent. That is what I see in a Moon conjunct Saturn. It is just one little aspect in the complete picture of the chart. But when the aspect is prominent (on an angle, oriental) it is very very important for personal relations.

LEO
All about the sunsign Leo, Moon in Leo, planets, Ascendant and MC in Leo

Leo is a fixed fire sign ruled by the Sun himself. So Leo is the sign of manifestations, being a star and being noticed.
Keywords for Leo are: strong will, show, pride and vitality.

You show (and you might sure say SHOW) you are a Lion by':
- wanting to be in the middle of the attention (esp. as a child you can sure draw some attention!)
- wanting to be the boss, the champion or the star
- showing off (sometimes with body building)
- being bossing around (somebody has to be the boss and that might as well be Leo)
- placing honour and honesty above all
- being arrogant
- being expensive
- talking too loud

Examples? Mick Jagger, Schwarzenegger, Fidel Castro

Moon in Leo
Those with Moon in Leo have a sense for status and sometimes they walk around showing off where there in fact is nothing to be shown but fake. It is a position for pretensions. They just have a need to draw attention and look royal (dressed up with 'jewels', 'furs' etc.).

Evita Perron, Margareth Thatcher, Nancy Reagan, Raisa Gorbatsjov and queen Elisabeth have such a moon in their chart.

Mercury in Leo
When you talk all the rest must keep silent (willing or not). You have noble opinions but sometimes you tell them to arrogantly. As a student you hate details. You do a study with all your heart.

Venus in Leo
Loyal is royal. You like to spend money when you love and adore someone to show your pride. Venus in Leo might also mean 'women attracting attention'. Maybe that is why Rubens has this position:)?

Mars in Leo
The managing soldier, fighting openly and proudly. Active as a leader, but as a boss (in trouble or with bad aspects) you are aggressive sometimes!

Examples? Al Gore

Jupiter in LeoSelf confidence! Believing in life itself.

Bill Gates, John Paul II as examples.

Saturn in LeoLimited vitality. The serious side of life and the load of leadership. Respect is very important for you. You always stay correct.

Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, Schwarzenegger, Al Gore

Ascendant in Leo
Whatever you do you will make sure it is noticed! Muhammad Ali is a great example of ascendant Leo, esp. when he shouted: "I am the greatest!". But all that noise might be covering up someone else...

And yes, Mick Jagger, George Pompidou, Charles and Camilla, Marilyn Monroe and O.J. Simpson share this ascendant.

MC in Leo
You want to be the star, the leader or the boss! Or at least be noticed...

Moon in Scorpio september -december

Medaglia d'oro al Valore Militare
There is a Scorpio Moon in 2013 on September 9/10, October 7/8 and on November 3 and 4 (New Moon). The last Scorpio Moon of 2013 is on December 28/29 and there is a Scorpio Moon on November 30 and December 1. Baby's born on those days will have a Moon in Scorpio.

Moon in Scorpio seems to be important for persistence. It is a Moon for the brave and those who dare. It is a Moon for someone with strong needs and ditto personality, some more than others (because there is more in a chart than the Moon).

Sun/Mercury midpoint combinations

In the post named 'Sun/Moon/Mercury midpoint combinations' I referred to being motivated by communications (writing, speaking, or being a messenger by transporting the message). There is another way to look at a Sun/Moon/Mercury combination and that is when you see it as Sun/Mercury with Moon. Sun/Mercury is the midpoint of your mental health and personal ideas. When the Moon mixes with this midpoint, your opinion is influenced by your feelings and what you say is coloured by bias. So in a way, anyone with a Sun/Moon/Mercury combination writes what he feels and is a potential liar, because he colors the facts. Perhaps that is why writers of fiction often have this midpoint combination. However, there is also a strong drive to mention facts and to discuss them. That makes it easier to learn the truth. Sun/Moon/Mercury combinations describe feelings and memories or talk about what motivates them. People with this combination write and speak with heart and soul. But they are not objective, they have feelings for the things that they talk about.

When Sun/Mercury is mixed with Venus grace, style and beauty are added to expressing the opinion or view. You easily get contact with others and this might lead to marrying young. This combination of Sun/Mercury/Venus is very frequent and not all of the persons with this combination in the natal chart will become a writer. But they all communicate in a nice manner.

How different is the Sun/Mercury/Mars-combination! The sharp mind often produces sharp opinions. I know of a comedian with a threefold combination of Sun/Mercury/Mars. His words really 'cut' and 'hit' you when you are the target!

Sun/Mercury/Jupiter-combinations succeed by communicating ideas. When mention some examples of this combination you immediately will see: Sacha Cohen has Jupiter semi square Sun/Mercury. Michelangelo is supposed to have had Mercury conjunct Sun/Jupiter. Can you imagine how prosperous the life of this person as a student might have been?

Sun/Mercury/Saturn-combinations point at the hard sides of student life. Aletta Jacobs was the first Dutch woman allowed to study medicines and she had Sun conjunct Mercury, both square Saturn. It took her a lot of time to get permission and her time as a student was of course not very pleasant.

Galilei had Sun conjunct Mercury/Uranus and you know what he did: he said something very controversial about earth turning around the sun. Sacha Cohen has Sun conjunct Mercury/Uranus, too and what he says raises many eyebrows, too.

Sun/Mercury/Neptune is good for a man like William Shakespeare, because this midpoint combination ads fantasy to words. But in all other cases misinterpretations and misunderstandings (maybe even having the wrong opinion) could confuse communications.

Sun/Mercury/Pluto is the combination of the power and influence of the mind and of the word. Nelson Mandela has Sun conjunct Mercury/Pluto and politician Luia da Silva has Pluto square Sun/Mercury. This combination might also lead to mental stress.

Sun/Mercury/Node shows the opinions of a community or group and people with this combination in their chart might exchange ideas or instruct a group of listeners.

Sun/Mercury/Ascendant is the representation of lively communications, somehow. For example as a teacher.

Sun/Mercury/Midheaven is for the professional writer. J.K. Rowling has Midheaven conjunct Sun/Mercury and she wrote the Harry Potter books.

Sun/Mars midpoint combination

A midpoint is the point in the middle of two positions in a chart. Any object on that midpoint or in hard aspect with that midpoint creates a midpoint combination. This post is about the midpoint combinations with Sun/Mars. Sun/Mars can be the midpoint of the man in your life - in women’s charts: when I had progressed MC conjunct Sun/Mars I met my husband- and provides information about the nature of your energy level and how you manifest your drives.
Monument to the Sun in Croatia, by Andrej Salov

The midpoint combinations with Moon, Mercury and Venus have been published in earlier posts about Sun/Moon, Sun/Mercury and Sun/Venus. New are Sun/Mars/Jupiter, Sun/Mars/Saturn, Sun/Mars/Uranus, Sun/Mars/Neptune, Sun/Mars/Pluto, Sun/Mars/Node, Sun/Mars/AC and Sun/Mars/MC.

Sun/Mars/Moon
"Impatience, action, promotion, drives and energy are being highlighted, sometimes people with this combination actually are ‘in sports’ or activists. In the chart of a female this midpoint combination often highlights the importance of the opposite sex. Anyone with Sun/Moon/Mars-combinations wants marriage and family life to be productive and sees marriage as a sort of a joint venture. They need speed and action to feel alive."

Sun/Mars/Mercury
"The sharp mind often produces sharp opinions. I know of a comedian with a threefold combination of Sun/Mercury/Mars. His words really 'cut' and 'hit' you when you are the target!"

Sun/Mars/Venus
"Sun/Venus in hard aspect with Mars: that is a combination for passion, art and love. Both Paris Hilton and Paul McCartney have Sun conjunct Venus/Mars: that is another way to make a Sun/Venus/Mars midpoint combination."

Sun/Mars/Jupiter
When Jupiter is in hard aspect with Sun/Mars you are likely having success thanks to a lot of energy and drive. Dutch conqueror Piet Hein had Sun semi square Mars/Jupiter. Nelson Mandela has Mars square Sun/Jupiter.

Sun/Mars/Saturn
Sun/Mars with Saturn finds fewer joy in working and being a man with responsibilities, unless the person involved sees his duties as only natural. Mars-Saturn is the aspect combination of discipline and being disciplined. The military is one of the territories of Mars-Saturn. This combination might also reflect mourning. Prince William has Sun/Saturn conjunct Mars. Prince Charles has Sun/Mars square Saturn.

Women might live with a man who is not always there for them or life with (or without) a man can be hard. Michele Martin, the wife of serial killer Marc Dutroux, responsible for the death of two 8 year old girls, has Sun/Mars conjunct Saturn (Sun in 24 Capricorn, Mars 0 Capricorn and Saturn 12 Capricorn).

Sun/Mars/Uranus
The explosive nature of Mars and Uranus is being highlighted by the Sun when there is a midpoint combination of Sun, Mars and Uranus. Sometimes this combination refers to ‘an accident’ (getting pregnant, too) and arrests. The ability of acceleration is the other side of this combination.
Zinedine Zidane has Uranus square Sun/Mars. Osama bin Laden had Sun/Uranus conjunct Mars.

Sun/Mars/Neptune
Sun/Mars and Neptune is more obscure. Someone with this midpoint combination might work in secret business or be involved in ‘an affair’. Another resonation is lost of energy due to poison or drugs or being the victim of aggression…it can’t be all that bad. Rudi Guiliani has Mars conjunct Sun/Neptune, for example.

Sun/Mars/Pluto
Sun/Mars and Pluto intensifies vital male energies. Mars with Pluto is the combination of the drive to win. The sun is highlighting this drive. The ‘strong man’ (in force or in politics) has such a midpoint combination. For example: Lula da Silva (Sun square Mars/Pluto) and Pope Benedict XVI: Sun/Mars semi square Pluto.

Sun/Mars/Node
Sun/Mars and Nodes is the combination of the working community of men, a team of workers and of producing together.

Sun/Mars/Ascendant
Sun/Mars and Ascendant offers opportunities to be active, assertive and/or aggressive. Bruce Willis has Mars semi square Sun/Ascendant.

Sun/Mars/MC
The team leader (the coordinating worker) has Sun/Mars in hard aspect with Midheaven but this combination pops up in the charts of famous women, too. Jane Fonda, Barbra Streisand and Stephanie Grimaldi have Sun/Mars/MC. They are active and energetic. Dutch king-to-be Prince William Alexander also has this midpoint combination.

CALLING PLANETS, or
PLANETS WITH A CALL...
Some explanation

Noel Tyl refers to it as 'peregrination', not making major aspects. He wrote an interesting article about it and refers to it in his 'Vocations' (good book).

CONSPICUOUS BY ABSCENCE
As 'peregrination' is a term used in horary, I prefer to use 'calling' (drawing attention). What I call 'calling planets' are planets not making major aspects in sign. I have written about it on my site Astromarkt, in the article'Conspicuous by abscence...', that is also about missing elements.

A CALL FOR...
In short: 'calling' planets manifest themselves at any level, but always intense. A calling Mercury just HAS to communicate and a calling Jupiter just HAS to convince or travel. It is a sort of an urge. People with 'calling' planets should not disregard their influence and try to give the planet a place in the field of the carreer or in their hobbies. Or else, this planet starts 'screaming'!:) And the calling Mercury will never stop talking, the calling Jupiter will be anoying all company with statements and the calling Uranus will be irritating and shocking whenever there is a chance.

EXAMPLES
I tend to see the 'calling' planet as an indication for a vocation. A calling Sun (like in the charts of John F. Kennedy, Nelson Mandela, Hillary Clinton and Cher Bono Allman, for example) refers to either leadership or show (being the centre of attention). Or how about the calling Venus and Mars of Monica Lewinsky: the passion and male-female contact in her life caused a lot of noise:)!

Eclipses in 2012

Eclipses are part of a cycle named Saros Series. The Saros series numbers of the Eclipses in 2012 are contradicting all predictions of doom for the next year to come. The first eclipse is on May 20 (solar; lunar eclipse on June 4)) 2012. That is in 14 South and that points at success. The second one is in 15 North (solar on November 13, lunar on November 28). According to Bernadette Brady that it is mumber with an atmosphere of joy! So why worry about 2012? Persons born around May 20, June 4, November 13 or November 28: rejoyce! The eclipses are with you. Those who have the Moon, Ascendant or Midheaven (in natal or progression) in 0 or 7 Gemini, 14 Sagittarius or 22 Scorpio: be happy! Good prospects are to be honored! No better news than good news! However...Let's first see what happened last time when there were eclipses in 14 South and 15 North.

SAROS SERIE 14 SOUTH AND15 NORTH IN 1994

In May of 1994 during Saros serie 14 South Nelson Mandela became the President of South-Africa. But after November 1994 (15 North) the Mexican economy was in crisis!

I don't now if there were good or bad events or changes in the lives of people born on May 10, May 25, November 3 or November 18 soon after the eclipses. If you were born on one of these data, please tell me and my readers about it. As far as I know there have never been studies about the supposed to be effects of the eclipses. But given the fact that the saros series of 2012 have a good press, let us wait and see and hope for the best!

LIBRA
All about the sun sign Libra, Moon and planets, Ascendant and MC in Libra

Libra is an air and cardinal sign ruled by Venus. Air is about communication and interaction! Venus is charm.

Keywords for Libra:
Balance and compromise (and to achieve that: diplomacy and charm)

You are a true Sun in Libra when you:
- are proud of your partner
- give in to keep peace and quiet
- became a middle manager or diplomat
- need company
- want to do everything together with another person
- arbitrage in rows
- make things look better than they are
When you are a Libra you do not want to be alone for long.

You would expect perfect examples of nice and diplomatic Libra's, would you?
But here are some:

- Klaas Bruinsma (Dutch criminal, got shot)
- Truman Capote (famous for a book about murder)
- Winny Mandela (not so kind ex-wife of Nelson)
- president Putin (politicians have a lot of influence of Libra, of course)

Moon in Libra
Moon in Libra just cannot decide. Picture yourself a changing shape on a moving balance and you can understand why not. But those Moons in Libra have a nice attitude and know how to be popular and charming. They just NEED company. Mothers with Moon in Libra might pay special attention to the equal division of candy among their children...

George W. Bush and Sylvester Stallone are some having moon in Libra.

Mercury in Libra

Such a pleasant conversation you can have with them. And such a diplomacy. In studies you are very calculating. You want studies to be fun in the first place.

Venus in Libra

Good position for Venus. A diplomatic charming Venus having good taste in choosing a partner. Those people are representative! But for men sometimes a difficult position. They meet so many beautiful women! Like Bill Clinton. And Sean Connery (first James Bond)

Mars in Libra
A difficult position for a marriage for Mars brings aggression and fights. You DO something when you see someone nice so maybe being loyal might not be easy.

But OK, you CAN work on a relationship and you can WORK together. As long as you and your partner have sport together or join in the job it is OK. Until bad times arise...

Bill Clinton and Bill Gates are examples.

Jupiter in Libra
You believe in peace and harmony. If everybody joined you there would be heaven forever. With afflictions you are convinced that all goes well even if you make no special efforts and you might be a little naive.

Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Madonna and Michael Jackson have this position

Saturn in Libra
A heavyweight hanging in a balance just asks for contra weight or else ends up down. Company and partnership is very important for you and sometimes a burden load. You feel obliged to be loyal and like to make contracts to be sure of the other person (and yourself).

Libra ascendant

You do it charming, diplomatically, nicely and like a team player though behind that kind appearance might be a totally different person. You always do it politely and preferably in a nice and well decorated environment. You are beautiful or at least representative and get a lot of compliments.

Who? John Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, James Dean

Libra MC

Your goal is harmony and beauty. Hard working does not really belong to your destiny, you feel. So you will find a balance between work and rest. In your profession diplomacy or beauty is needed.

Princess Diana and Brigitte Bardot had Libra MC in their charts.
