Speculations on abdication Queen Elizabeth II

There is some speculation about the abdication of Queen Elizabeth II in 2014.

1. The idea is following the news about job sharing with her son (here: http://o.canada.com/news/world/queen-elizabeth-prince-charles-job-share-the-throne/ ) There is also a change in activities for Prince William and Prince Andrew.

2. Now a bookmaker suspends betting on the abdication of Queen Elizabeth II of England on Prince Charles 65th birthday: http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2014/01/22/Bookmaker-suspends-betting-on-Queen-Elizabeths-abdication/UPI-44761390368334/

3. On my site Astromarkt.net I published the chart of Queen Elizabeth a few months ago.

I mentioned that Saturn (an important planet in her natal chart) indicated that all things Saturnal (duties, age, limitations) were getting harder in 2013 and that on November 11, 2014 (Charles' birthday)
a. Saturn would be conjunct her Midheaven,
b. Jupiter inconjunct the Ascendant with Pholus and
c. Jupiter trine (progressed) Mars.
Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands abdicated with Saturn and Pluto (see that story).

There has been some speculation before in 2011. I wrote about that, too, at the time (see: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2011/05/speculating-about-king-charles.html ) and then I also thought of 2014.

4. Here is the chart of the Prince of Wales with transits and progressions for his 65th birthday. Transit Uranus is on his Midheaven (tension, change), progressed Sun changing sign (changes life style), Progressed Sun square Jupiter (progress)….
Click for a larger picture

So, maybe it is in the air. We will see if it will land.
But if it isn't, what could those transits and progressions mean?

Saturn and Pholus in charts of Johnny Depp and Steve Ballmer

When you decide to retire, watch the positions of Saturn and Pholus, that is what I wrote before. When Saturn and Pholus join in, you may think that it is time (Saturn) for a turning point (Pholus). The picture above shows how I see it. There are two sides on the decision. One side seems to weigh more than the other does.

Fresh examples this week: Johnny Depp and Steve Ballmer.

Johnny Depp announced to retire from acting and see: transit Saturn square Progressed Sun (soon after T Saturn opposition MC) and transit Pholus opposition Sun. But he didn't stop immediately and they say that more 'Pirates' are to come. He is also 50 (rather young to stop) and rich (rich enough to stop). So when you see important transits and progressions of Saturn and Pholus, to retire may be on your mind, but it takes more to actually quit and say goodbye.

STEVE BALLMER
Microsoft CEO Steven Ballmer announced - last week - that he will retire within 12 months.

There are a few indications in his chart for this. Maybe progressed Ceres conjunct natal Sun might maybe wants to take better care of himself?  And how about Saturn and Pholus?

1. Saturn was inconjunct natal Sun this year (lame duck transit) and
2. Saturn will be square Pholus in a few weeks time (time for a turning point)
3. Pholus is inconjunct natal Venus (selecting a turning point involving giving up)
4. Saturn is about to trine progressed Venus and
5. Saturn was inconjunct progressed Mercury (bye bye with a loss involved)

The first aspect that the progressed Sun (change of life style) will make is an opposition with Saturn.

Here is the chart, transits and progressions.

" A successful (Jupiter) movie (Neptune) star (Sun). Sometimes astrology is easy!:) "

PS Have I told you yet about the pattern of artistic talent in his chart? Here it is:

Moon sextile Neptune
Taurus Midheaven
Venus in Taurus

And then it stops, sorry! It seems that the famous exception in the range of examples of the astrological pattern of professional artistic talent has been found:)!

I also quit my job recently in a period of Transit Pholus conjunct and transit Saturn exactly semi square Sun and MC (together with this Pluto-Mercury transit and Neptune crossing my horizon). There were even more transits and progressions. See http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/07/the-difficult-decision-transit-pluto.html

Saturn, Pholus and Erdogan

Istanbul as seen from the Bospurus, May 2012
Some time ago I wrote about Saturn and Pholus related to retirement. Soon afterwards, Queen Beatrix announced her retirement (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2012/01/pholus-and-saturn-when-you-retire.html)
Pholus marks the turning point (the beginning of it0 and Saturn relates this to age, career or status. As you may see in this chart with transits and progressions of Recep Erdogan, prime minister in Turkey, he  has:

1. Transit Saturn opposition progressed Sun; hard confrontation with reality, facing the facts
2. Transit Pholus sesquisquare progressed Sun; turning point in life, risk of shooting own feet
Saturn is semi square Pholus right now! It is maybe the prelude to stepping back, but Erdogan's political career 'survived' many transits and progressions of Saturn. I wrote about Erdogan and Turkey in 2010, when he had Saturn inconjunct his Sun and the supposed to be Ascendant in the chart of Turkey received hard transits of Uranus and Pluto*).

Here is the chart (no time of birth) with transits and progressions.

In Erdogan's natal chart Sun is square Mars and trine Saturn. That highlights discipline. He is a self made manager.

You may notice that the Turkish' PM has Sun in Pisces and Moon in Sagittarius. The signs are ruled by Neptune and Jupiter. The combination of Jupiter-Neptune and Sagittarius-Pisces is related to religion and believing audiences. See the article on Astromarkt. Some of the people on Taskim square have their doubts about the question if the state will remain secular with PM Erdogan and his party.

Anyway, Saturn and Pholus together seem to be announcing a goodbye in some situations. But as charts should always been seen in the light of age, gender, class, history, situation etcetera, and as the time of birth is unknown (not allowing us to see what the MC does), we will simply have to wait and see if Saturn-Pholus has other means to show that time are about to change.

*)That is why I expected riots in 2012, related to the trial against the military top. However, it didn't happen and as I said in that post: the ascendant is strictly related to the TIME of the birth of the nation. One quarter of an hour difference and all that is left is Uranus-Pluto with Mars (a revolutionary change in the army).

Pholus and Saturn when you retire?

Today it is the 74th birthday of Queen Beatrix and just like every year there is speculation about her possible abdication in favor of her son Willem-Alexander. The previous abdications were with Saturn 'around'. But that doesn't mean that every time that Saturn is of importance in the chart of a queen, she is about to finish her job. For example: you need to be old enough:)!

In http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/06/astrological-signs-of-changing-times.html I mentioned that it takes three or more of the aspects of change (like for example: Sun-Uranus) to mirror a life changing effect. I don’t know if it is advisable to choose a period with hard indications of change to retire, start another career or abdicate, but  it is not a matter of free choice for all.

Changes such as retirements don’t pop up on one day. There is a period of considerations and calculations before the decision is made to step back, on THAT day. Saturn is always there when a function or status or period in life definitely ends. Saturn is also around when a responsibility becomes part of your life. That is why we see Saturn on the meridian of Queens around coronation time and again when they decide to abdicate. Saturn is a ‘must-have’ ingredient for such changes. But as you may see, Pholus is also around.

JULIANA: QUEEN AND ABDICATION

A. Abdication
The chart of Dutch Queen Juliana at the moment of abdication in favor of her daughter Beatrix shows:
  • Transit Uranus inconjunct Ascendant (There were riots in Amsterdam, so a lot of nerves)
  • Progressed Quaoar conjunct Progressed Ascendant (A new perspective on the way…)
  • Progressed Sun inconjunct Descendant ‘sounds’ like sunset.
  • And Progressed Ascendant trine Progressed Moon tells us about a moment of appearance to remember.
  • As it happened on her birthday, the Sun was conjunct her natal Sun so that she was ‘in the spotlights’.

B. Coronation
The picture in the sky is not as spectacular as it was when she became queen. At that time, Pholus made 4 aspects:
. T Pholus inconjunct P Venus
. T Pholus sextile P MC
. Progressed Pholus inconjunct Progressed MC
. T Pholus at the Progressed Descendant
They mark an important change for her as a wife, in her position and in the way that others see her. In the months before progressed Sun sextile Saturn and sextile Quaoar and Saturn on her IC mirrored the ‘duty’ that she faced.
I like the fact that on the specific day transit Sun was conjunct Progressed Sun (it was her progressed birthdayJ).

The abdication of her mother Queen Wilhelmina was with transit Saturn trine Saturn and transit Pholus square Saturn.

So maybe we need not expect ‘spectacular’ and lots of indications for the moment that Queen Beatrix, steps back in favor of her son, Willem Alexander. However, Beatrix is a different kind of woman and more ambitious. It might be harder for her to step back (if she ever does).

BEATRIX: CORONATION
Beatrix became Queen. What did her chart show on that day?

. Transit Pholus (change) was conjunct Progressed Ceres (dynasty)
. Progressed MC was semi square Saturn
. Transit Neptune was on the Progressed Descendant
. Transit Venus was square her Progressed Sun
. Just like her mother, Beatrix had Saturn near the (Progressed) IC.

It was a difficult moment in Dutch history. In church you could hear the people shouting and it was rather dangerous at a certain moment.

WILLEM-ALEXANDER
Every year at Beatrix’ birthday and around Queen’s Day (April 30) there is a lot of speculating about the yes or no abdication of Beatrix. On April 28 this year Beatrix will have
  • transit Uranus exactly square her Midheaven,
  • transit Pholus square Progressed MC and
  • transit Pholus inconjunct Progressed Ascendant,
  • Saturn (again) opposition progressed Sun and
  • Jupiter sextile Progressed Ascendant and
  • Jupiter sextile Progressed Midheaven.
There might be surprising or shocking news and it might well be a 'present' for her sun: abdication. His chart:
  • His MC square Ceres,
  • transit Pholus opposition Sun and
  • transit Pluto square Progressed MC
This, on his birthday might point at change as well. But in fact, there is such a moment of possible change, every year. Next year, for example:
  • with transit Saturn on his Ascendant,
  • Pholus still opposition progressed Sun,
  • transit Uranus on the progressed IC,
  • transit Jupiter trine progressed Mars
2013 might be a better choice, because transit Neptune is still on his midpoint Sun/Moon this year (though I noticed that Neptune was 'there' whenever there was a coronation). His mother will have a solar return with Sun square Saturn and Moon on IC in 2013. So I'd guess that 2013 might be 'the' year, but I wouldn't bet my money on it (maybe a chocolate bar:).
Natal, transits and progressions in 2012
Natal, transits and progressions in 2013

It will be nice to see what choice will (or won’t) be made. Charts of royals and official moments like this are great tools for the study of astrology. Saturn and Pholus seem to mark moments of official change of status. I have such a moment mid 2013 and I am curious! I also wonder if you, reader, had a moment of 'abdication' or retirement and also noticed Saturn (and Pholus) as the keys in your (progressed) chart.

Mohammed Atta, Eris and Pholus

On September 1, 1968 Mohammed Atta, one of the terrorists of 9-11, was born. His Saturn was on the descendant of the moment of the attack, indicating two things: his guilt/responsibility and his end. His Saturn was also conjunct the Midheaven of the President (George W. Bush). Atta was mentioned before on this blog (see  the link) but at the time I didn't use Eris or Pholus. Now I do. See the chart and see the combination of Sun with Saturn, Eris and Pholus for the discord, the turning point, the end...

The confession of Joran van der Sloot

Joran van der Sloot confessed, says the police in Peru. His progressed chart shows a combination of Mercury-Saturn and Pholus. Does this reflect an official (Saturn) self damaging (Pholus) statement (Mercury)? This combination of Mercury-Saturn and Pholus was already there in the natal chart (without hour of birth) and is repeated now.

Following the earlier messages about the birth positions of Joran van der Sloot, and the post about Van der Sloot being a subject again, here is something about his Mercury. Joran van der Sloot is a good liar (he is a poker player). Afflicted Mercuries point at the ability to vary and twist communications and mental state the hard way. (And some professions aquire a tough or flexible mentality or interest). There is a post about Mercury and lying on this blog here…

MERCURY IN BIRTH CHART
In the natal chart of Joran van der Sloot we see an afflicted Mercury exactly square Jupiter and sesquisquare Saturn. There is also a biquintile with Uranus. He can limit (Saturn), change (Uranus) or expand (Jupiter) facts or subjects of conversation. Those are the kind of qualities that a poker player needs, besides a poker face or a cap to hide your expression.

MERCURY IN THE PROGRESSED CHART: aspects combinations repeated!
In the progressed chart of Joran van der Sloot we see that Mercury moved fast. The afflicted Mercury is now exactly sesquisquare Jupiter and exactly square Saturn.
This means that the original nature of his communications are now ‘ triggered’ by progressions and that his mind has strong ups and downs now.

PHOLUS AND MERCURY
In the natal and progressed chart of Joran van der Sloot, Mercury is in aspect with Pholus, the symbol of turning points and 'shooting your own feet'. In the natal chart Mercury is sextile Pholus, but in the progressed chart there is a 105 degree minor aspect. Progressed and natal Saturn are quindecile Pholus. The Mercury-Saturn-Pholus combination of the natal chart is again active in the progressed chart. We could read the combination as the official statement of a turning point or: ' shooting your own feet with lies'.

And now, confronted with the images of the hotel door on video, Joran van der Sloot confessed.

------------------------------------------
PS His progressed Sun is trine Neptune now. See the Sun-Neptune-posts...
' Am I who I think that I am or am I who others say that I am,'
How about the effect of the 'harmonious' trine? Sometimes trines just make it easy to get isolated and lost with Neptune. It seems that he tried to sell information about the whereabouts of the death body of Natalee Holloway and that the FBI knew it. He was living in a false world of poker games, drugs and illusions.

Click 'sextile' to see more examples of the effect of harmonious aspects.
