Transit Saturn square Sun during war

Few persons face the end of life with transit Saturn at young age. Exception: the young man who killed 7 persons and himself on Queen's Day in The Netherlands. He had transit Saturn opposition Sun. Saturn's transits sometimes pass bye and leave no special marks. But when a person is ill, old or in difficult circumstances this transit certainly doesn't help to make life easier. And that is an understatement. Saturn ends a period in life. And in some cases, life itself. This post is about a nasty example in WWII. I will try to find examples of how Saturn was a benefit, later.

In times or circumstances of war the chance to die young is greater than normal. A sad example of the effect of transit Saturn square natal Sun is the painful story of Pieter Hoppen, a 23 year old victim of a Dutch resistance group during World War II. They had 'convicted' him because of the idea that he was a traitor. He was not, they were deadly mistaken. An 86 year old member of the resistance - Gerrit Gunnink - revealed the story and the place where the body had been burried after Pieter had been shot in the head 7 times.

Pieter Hoppen was born September 12, 1919 in Rotterdam (certificate shown in the documentary that I saw about the case). He died mid 1943 in the rural eastern part of the country. Transit Saturn was square his Sun mid 1943. Saturn rises before his natal Sun. That makes Saturn important in his chart. Without an hour of birth we don't know about other indications (transits or progressions) that lead to this extreme example of bad luck with Saturn's transit in Gemini, square his Virgo Sun.

It seems that the difference in the way of communicating between the city boy and the rural men of the restistance aroused suspicion. He also had the bad luck that a German patrol followed his visit to a farm. Mr. Gunnink recently had to face the fact that his group made a mistake and that he contributed to the death of an innocent person. That is hard to handle, but he also felt relief, because now the family finally knows what happened to míssing Pieter Hoppen.

Chart of Marco van Basten (former coach of Ajax)

Sorry for the inconvenience! I accidently hit 'publish' when I had not finished the job. That will display an unfinished post on Astrodispatch, even without a title. So here is in short my post about Marco van Basten, with the link to the completed post on Astropost.blogspot.com.

A lot of newspapers are analysing Marco van Basten's exit (as the coach of Ajax). Miscommunications, unexplaned decissions and the distant attitude of the coach are often mentioned. There are explanations for this attitude in the natal chart, such as:
- Saturn - symbol of restrictions - in the third house of communications and related to Sun/Moon and ASC/MC
- Mercury conjunct Neptune, the recipe for misunderstandings
- the Moon in Virgo for 'understatement' when emotions are concerned

For the eventual loss of the job I see:
- Progressed Sun inconjunct Jupiter in March (success, but...)
- transit Mars inconjunct Sun last Sunday (losing the match, being the target)
- transit Neptune opposition Mars (disappointment on the job)

See Astropost for the complete post.

Exit Marco van Basten, Saturn, Virgo and inconjunctions

Marco van Basten is no longer the coach of Ajax. There are a lot of analyses in the newspapers. One of the comments about Marco van Basten is that he failed to communicate with the members of the team. Another one is that his decisions were not always understandable and never explained. One of the members of the team says that he was always at distance and did not show emotions. There is an explanation for that attitude in his natal chart. This post is about:
- the influence of Saturn and Virgo on the way that he communicates,
- the conjunction of Mercury and Neptune on the way his ideas are being communicated and understood
- and about the inconjunctions with Mars (transit) and Jupiter (progression), reflecting the loss of his job.

COMMUNICATING WITH SATURN AND VIRGO
The distant communications are reflected by the very important Saturn in the third equal house, on cusp 3 of the Placidus house, by Mercury in Scorpio conjunct Neptune and by the Moon in Virgo.

SATURN IN 3RD HOUSE
Saturn is the symbol of distance and of the official. Saturn is always restricting, limiting and raising barriers. Marco van Basten’s Saturn is important. Saturn is sesquisquare the midpoint Sun/Moon: he is in heart and soul serious, a businessman, the manager, ambitious. Saturn is half semi square the midpoint Ascendant/Midheaven, too. This means that he is 'all in all' cool, ambitious and business. Van Basten’s Saturn is in the 3rd house of communications. So Saturn will limit communications to what is 'necessary' to fulfil the job.

MOON IN VIRGO
The Moon in his chart is not positioned in the most expressive sign for emotions. The Moon in Virgo is a cool moon, a moon for 'understatements' and modest behaviour. But Van Basten is 'the man in charge'.

MERCURY CONJUNCT NEPTUNE
Mercury conjunct Neptune symbolizes misunderstandings. This aspect reflects how his decisions were ‘understood’. I have written about that aspect before in the post about Rudolf Steiner:
.
“MERCURY CONJUNCT NEPTUNE
The final dispositor of the MC, Neptune, is conjunct Mercury. Cafe Astrology describes the conjunction of Mercury and Neptune. It is the aspect that joins facts and fantasy. Also read my blog, where I mention the aspect Mercury-Neptune:
"When you have to invent stories because you are an author, this aspect can be a blessing, but in real life it is not easy. For an example, see the charts of Gerard and Guillaume Depardieu. BTW, Brad Pitt (actor) has Mercury sextile Neptune, tightly. More about Mercury-Neptune on this blog Astropost: about the Friedman case." (i.e. Mercury inconjunct Pluto
)”

LOST JOB: INCONJUNCTION AND NEPTUNE
With transit Neptune opposition Mars and Mars inconjunct his Sun, Marco van Basten's Ajax lost last Sunday (4-0) and the coach gave up his job. Inconjunctions symbolizes loss. Neptune reflects disappointment.

Then he told the team that he left, shook hands and disappeared. Short, cool and without emotions.

JUPITER’S INCONJUNCT
Jupiter was on his side in the summer of 2008, read that post...

The year before that he has progressed Mars trine progressed Jupiter. The progressed Jupiter of Johan Cruijff was on the progressed Midheaven of Van Basten in 2008. The support of Cruijff contributed to his position in Ajax.

Jupiter is of importance in his chart. Jupiter is quindecile his Sun and also quindecile his Ascendant. There are 3 midpoint combinations of Sun, Jupiter and Ascendant. (They symbolise his successes). Jupiter rules his first house (the Ascendant).

In March 2009 the progressed Sun was inconjunct Jupiter. That was when the first polls appeared with results like 'he'd better play football instead'. And that was shortly after Ajax won an important match (from FC Utrecht with 2-0). So he had success (Jupiter), but...(inconjunction)...

The sexuality in Sigmund Freud's chart

Sigmund Freud was born on May 6, 1956 at 18h30 LMT in Freiberg. He is a famous psychologer and psychiatrist. He is most of all famous because of the fact that he attributed a lot of psychological problems to sexuality. Why was sex so important in his life? Because it was in his chart!:) Three times!

1. Pluto is prominent (3 times)
Pluto is the symbol of power, politics, life and death and of sexuality. Pluto rises before his Freud's Son and is angular (on the crucial spot on the Descendant). And Pluto does not make Ptolemaic aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees.
That makes Pluto the most prominent planet in the chart. As Pluto is three times important the effect in his personality will be strong.

2. Venus <> Mars
Sexual activity is symbolised by the interaction of Venus and Mars. Venus is in the sign of Mars (Aries) and Mars is in the sign of Venus (Libra). The placement in each other's sign is called 'mutual reception'. The mutual reception of Venus and Mars is at the end of the MC-routing (Leo, Sun in Taurus, Venus in Aries <> Mars in Libra). That is an indication for the importance of sexual activity in his career.

3. Neptune inconjunct Midheaven
Neptune is ruling the fifth house of procreativity and is placed in the fifth equal house. Neptune is inconjunct Midheaven. Neptune is the symbol of fantasy, dreams and ideologies. The inconjunction points at 'disproportionate' connections. The Midheaven is the symbol of the career (the public function). In the theories of Freud explanations of dreams were very important and they were often 'translated' to sexual desires.

These are three reasons for the importance of sexuality in the theories of Sigmund Freud. There is a fourth one...and a fifth...

4. Mars inconjunct Pluto
According to the reading of Cafe Astrology, Freud should have to be less compulsive and forceful to accomplish things. The use of influence, force and strength is rather misbalanced with Mars inconjunct Pluto. Mars-Pluto afflictions sometimes reflect sexual problems.

5. Scorpio Ascendant*)
The perception and presentation of any human being is symbolised by the Ascendant. You see the world (and the world sees you) through the filter of the Ascendant. Freud has a Scorpio Ascendant. Scorpio is related to Pluto, the most important planet in the chart of Freud. And that explains a lot.

Sigmund Freud's theories seem to be the expression of Sigmund Freud's chart.

*) From the Basics (on my site Astromarkt):
You look nastier. stronger or sexier than you might really be. You are not easy to be approached. The cactus from outside! With bad aspects women are a bitch with this ascendant. You really look brave if you are a man and people might fear you.
Examples? Margaret Thatcher, Grace Kelly, Edit Piaf, Vladimir Putin

For more about the inconjunction, click the label. For Mars-Pluto combinations, see my site Astromarkt.net...

PS One of the interesting ideas of Freud that I found on the internet is: problems with menstruation start in the nose area. They can be treated with cocaine (...).

Soldiers, heroes, Mars and Saturn

Tomorrow, May 4, the victims of war are remembered in my country (The Netherlands). One of those was George Maduro, born July 15, 1916 in Willemstad (Netherlands Antilles) who died in Dachau on February 9, 1945. After the war he was honoured with the highest order, the 'Willemsorde'. He was a hero in 1940 in The Hague, when the Nazi armies conquered Holland. He was a hero in the resistance again.

On the day of his birth Saturn was rising before the Sun, in a wide sextile with Mars and conjunct Sun. Saturn also rises before the Sun on July 15, 1970, the day that Marco Kroon was born in 's-Hertogenbosch. He recently was given the Willemsorde for heroic action in Afghanistan. His Sun is conjunct Mars and there is a sesquisemisquare between Mars and Saturn.

Another man who was honoured with the Willemsorde - shortly after the war in 1945 - was Erik Hazelhoff Roelsema (nickname 'Soldier of Orange', there is a movie about him) has Saturn 'calling' and Mars oriental. He was born in Surabaya, Indonesia, with a military orientation (action first) and duty calling. The day of birth was April 3, 1917. He died not very long ago.

These three men are soldiers. Mars - symbol of the military - has a special place in their natal charts. And so has Saturn, the planet of hierarchy and duty. When Saturn is oriental, duty comes first. Mars and Saturn: to do your duty. And sometimes more than that.

More about the 'calling' Saturn: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/01/when-saturn-is-calling-planet.html.
