True and not true sun signs

Interesting research done by a second date site showed that 2.5 times more members were Capricorns than Sagittarius. It seems strange that the serious Capricorns are more true than the freewheeling Sags but I think that there is more than 1 explanation. Take the horns...for example. Venus and Mars should be considered, too. But, we know that Capricorns mind their status and position and the status quo. When they would like some more adventure, they wouldn't want to risk their mortgage, pay alimony and lose a reputation. That could be a reason to search for a secret date with an odor of 'decency' (instead of sex dates). Long lasting marriages can be boring, of course. Sagittarians would, perhaps, separate sooner.

The second sign on top of the list is Aquarius (adventure, something new) and second last is Scorpio (deeply true). Aries and Taurus are third. Of course, people are not sun signs and stats like these can't be used to accuse any sign of being untrue. There is more in a chart, and much more in a secret dater's chart!

It is an interesting study, because apart from a few famous examples we can't really know who is true, can we?

Blood Moon written in red, pink and orange

Some see an eclipse as a bad sign. Yesterday I watched the movie Noah and that is in a way a movie about a person who believed the bad signs that he (and only he) saw. It was a movie with a colored vision of humanity divided in the good (obedient veggies) and bad (blood thirsty flesh eaters), with the good doing bad things, too. Anyway, 25 euro and a bucket of pop corn later I knew that the movie Noah would be part of my next post. I study astrology since I was 15 (and I won't tell you when that was!). I know that charts don't 'predict' but 'reflect'. So I also know that the upheaval about a blood moon is a sign reflecting the fear and unrest in society more than vice versa. John Hagee is a conservative christian who 'predicted' fundamental change involving Israel in 2007. Nothing happened and now he gives 2014/2015. It sounds a bit like the Maya calendar prophecies of 2012 and indeed: there are a lot of such prophecies (see Exit Mundi http://www.exitmundi.nl ). This is the chart of his day of birth. Although it is a mistake to kill the messenger, it is right to have insight in the visions of a prophet, because what he thinks and what he says might have something to do with his personal ideas and maybe less with your reality. For example, he mentions the tetrades as related to the expulsion of the Spanish Jews, but not that the eclipses occurred AFTER that expulsion, so that it could hardly be called a prophetic eclipse. Yet, people choose to believe what he says. Watch the Sun-Jupiter-Neptune combination of fans, followers and religious beliefs.

I remember how I watched a not moving cloud before the moon on a summer night once. I was the only one interested, on that parking place. Nobody noticed, they watched their burger, their map or their children. In the days before electricity and TV, eclipses may have been spectacular. Today only those interested watch them. And apparently, mr. Hagee is one of them. So are a lot of astrologers. 

This full eclipse of April 15 will not be visible in Northern Europe or in Israel at all. Here is the chart for 'Blood moon' in Seoul.

I don't often write about eclipses (see the posts). This one is rare, says NASA and we are lucky to be able to see it (in America, for example). It is in the saros series 16 South and means 'wasted energy' according to Brady. The chart pictures a lot of nervous energy, like the tight Uranus-Pluto square and the combination of Mars, Eris and Saturn. The chart mirrors the worlds tension (Ukraine, Korea, Syria), but doesn't tell what we didn't know already. There is a threat of escalating aggression all over the world and it is hard for those in charge to avoid war at larger scale. Little we can do about it… 

We aren't Noah and my garden is too small for an ark. It also doesn't help to worry. Last week I felt completely powerless and sad when I found out that the care takers of the elderly home of my mother simply didn't give her her medication because it 'wasn't on a list' even though they knew her medical condition and history. I found out by accident that you can't feel safe and secure and content, ever. Yet, last night, in spite of the near full moon, I slept like a log for 12 hours and I woke up with pink cheeks. I wish you the same good nights sleep and a happy Pink /orange Moon!

Aries astrologer Joan Quigley

It is April 10, the birthday of Joan Quigley, one of the most noted astrologer's in the USA, because she was Nancy Reagan's private astrologer since 1973 (her progressed Midheaven trine her natal Uranus). Astrodatabank mentions that unsuccessfully tried to start a dot.com business in 2001 (with Progressed MC semi square Pluto and progressed Sun square Uranus).  She is 87 now and the transits of Uranus, Pluto and Jupiter all hit her progressed Sun lately.

The importance of the angular Mercury, the angular Jupiter and the 'calling' Uranus*) would already point at the 'helicopter view mind' that is required to study (Mercury) astrology (Jupiter-Uranus), but also shows how important communications (Mercury), techniques (Uranus) and guidance (Jupiter) are in her life, apart from family matters (Ceres).   The Aries Sun shows enterprise and the Leo Moon is for the glamour. Being the advisor of USA's First Lady is of course something to be proud of. The cool Virgo Ascendant is trine Venus, corresponding with the fact that she was pretty. Perhaps Sun in 8 inconjunct Ascendant shows us that she was 'a star' in the eyes of many, but (inconjunct = 'but') exaggerated, or at the cost of her own lifestyle.

Her Pluto is conjunct the Sun of Nancy Reagan, whose Saturn is inconjunct the Sun of Joan Quigley and opposition Quigley's Jupiter. So there is a Sun Saturn side for Nancy Reagan and a Sun Jupiter Pluto side for Joan Quigley, corresponding with the fact that the relationship was a success for the astrologer while people mocked Nancy Reagan for consulting an astrologer (even Barack Obama did).

Well, let's not be sad about the lack of appreciation and let's find the astrology in her chart that you see here with transits and progressions for today, her birthday.

1. Uranus is 'calling' (no aspects in 5 dg orb or in sign) and rising before the Sun + at Aries Point.
2. Jupiter is opposition Ascendant.
So both Jupiter and Uranus are important

Midpoint Jupiter/Uranus is in the 25th degree of Pisces, square Mars in X (and square the Galactic Center)

I also like Neptune/Pluto midpoint semi square Midheaven for the discretion that was required in her position.

I hear her say that she entered the mass market in the early 90's and found that she couldn't deal with it, because there is no mass astrology (very true) and that one day astrology will be recognized (I have my doubts…but I am glad that I did:).

Past the New Moon

Sorry for the delay, but in fact I am in time to point at an important aspect combination during New Moon: Mars opposition Eris and Eris inconjunct Saturn. A Mars-Eris combination was prominent in the chart of Pearl Harbor. And though there are Mars-Eris aspects throughout the year, I believe that the third party (Saturn) warns us to be careful and vigilant. Today I read that there was a fiery conflict (Mars-Eris) between North- and South Korea. There is Ukraine. And there is Syria. As charts are to be seen in the light of the situation and conditions, I think that this combination is more dangerous than it seems to be. Any fiery conflict could explode. With Venus trine Mars and sextile Eris, square Saturn there is a big role for diplomats.

In The Netherlands, Mars and Eris are on the horizon:

The New Moon and the Sun are in aspect with Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto, promissing new inventions and more tension. It will not be a quiet spring. But is there ever a quiet spring? Think of 1968 and the so called Arabian spring... When the New Moon is in Aries and there is a need for action that is not being used to just clean the carpets and sew or buy new cloths, the mood might get fiery. Aries, after all, is the first fire sign and Ares was the god of war. 

For me, with New Moon in the first house, it is time to take care of myself. I did so yesterday, and the day before. After removing the winter cloths and planting colourful flowers, I enjoyed the extremely high temperatures (as if in May) in the garden. Safely:)...

It is Aries time, time for the chart of an Aries astrologer. In 2008 I wrote about the chart of Dane Rudhyar, born March 23, 1895. I mentioned the creative quintiles, the musician and the astrologer in his chart. There is always Jupiter-Uranus in charts of astrologers and they were generous with Jupiter-Uranus combinations when Dave Rudhyar was born. Quoting myself:

a. 157.5 is the well known sesquisquare (135d) + half semi square (22.5). It is a minor, but not to be overlooked aspect.

b. a 'calling' planet is a planet without major (Ptolemaic) aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. These planets show up at any kind of level, somehow and anyhow.

When Mars kicks you

Today I published a new article on Astromarkt.net about Mars in synastry. I mentioned the interview that the Dutch royal couple gave on television. She said that she kicked her husband under the table because he almost told the press a secret about the date of the abdication of his mother, Queen Beatrix. Funny story, also because her Mars is exactly square his Sun. For more about that, and for the ways that Mars will pop up in your business, football or love relationship, see the article.

When someone kicks you, you feel the pain. Mars kicks you when a transit of Mars hits (sic...) your Ascendant or  Sun. They sometimes kick you out of a job when Mars hits your Midheaven. If there are no serious afflictions around, you simply go to the dentist with such an aspect.

Mars is in the final degree of Aries now, exactly at 29Aries12 now that I write this, about to change sign to Taurus. When you have your Sun, Ascendant or Midheaven in the 30st degree of Aries, you might now feel the pain or the kick! Mars is the symbol of the energy that could actually get you into space to Mars and of what it costs you to get there: effort, pain and energy. Sometimes that is just too much for a partnership and then it crashes...

Eris in the chart of a government

Eris is the symbol of discord, disagreement and quarrels. Eris is never peaceful and nice. The story is that she threw a golden apple in a group of Goddesses, saying that it was a gift for the most beautiful woman. Then all women started fighting for the apple...*) This symbol of quarrels is in the 22nd degree of Aries right now. The progressed chart of Charlie Sheen had too many aspects with Eris and see what happened...Eris was prominent in the charts of Pearl Harbor and in that of Mohammed Atta (see the label Eris for these examples).

GOVERNMENT AND ERIS
Eris's other name is Discordia...In the chart of a government, the prominence of Eris doesn't help to maintain an orderly status quo, you'd guess. There is a good example: the government of the Netherlands. Just recently, the PM Mark Rutte and his political partner Geert Wilders shouted 'Take it easy, man!' at each other, in parliament. That is unusual behavior in Dutch politics...Both men have Moon in Aries and Eris is in Aries, too. But there is more Eris in the chart of the Dutch government.

The Dutch government was 'born' with Eris opposition Midheaven and Sun. This year the Prime Minister will have progressed Sun opposition natal Eris. In his natal chart the Sun is semi square Eris. Maybe that is too much Eris...Resonating progressions are louder and this one is about conflicts...Could that mean that the 5th government in a row will end untimely? Or could the 'calling' Venus in the birth chart of this government really help to 'take it easy'?

What does Eris do in that chart? Well, she caused a lot of fuss.. There was a lot of discord even before the new government of The Netherlands was 'born', on October 14, 2010. It took months to come to an agreement and even than members of one of the coalition partners threatened to step out. That would have been the end of the coalition.

Here is the chart of the moment of the photo of the new Dutch government and Queen, right after the establishment of the new team on October 14, 2010. The transits are the positions of the day of birth of the Prime Minister. Watch the position of Eris...

If you have a prominent Eris in your chart (angular, for example or in a very tight aspect with the Sun or Midheaven) you might see more conflicts and be in the middle of it than others do. Do you?

Linda Goodman's chart

Linda Goodman was born on April 10, 1925 and she died in 1995. Linda Goodman was a successful astrologer and there is still a forum with her name, even if she died more than a decade ago. She used to conceal her birth data and that is why I like this chart with Neptune (planet of secrecy) on the Ascendant. This Ascendant is conjunct the midpoint of astrologers: Jupiter/Uranus.


She also was a poet (Venus, Moon and Neptune are in aspect with the Taurus Midheaven and Mercury is 'calling' - without major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees - and in hard aspect with Sun/Moon: communicating at any possible level, that is what motivated her...).


She started with astrology in 1963, with Progressed Ascendant trine Jupiter and Transit Uranus trine Progressed Mercury. That is illustrating prosperity and new interests, but it also happens to be a perfect combination for astrology, those aspects with Jupiter, Uranus and Mercury.


In 1973 her daughter died and Linda Goodman couldn't believe it. When there are more than 2 important transits and progressions, there is often an important event. In 1973:
1. and 2. her progressed Ascendant and Midheaven changed sign (mirroring changing positions, situations and conditions).
3. transit Neptune opposition Progressed Sun caused confusion and 
4. transit Uranus opposition Sun shocked her. Oppositions often point at ' what happens to others' and what is effecting us. 
5. There is also transit Saturn conjunct Progressed Venus and sextile natal Venus. Saturn marks endings, Venus is the symbol of loving relationships. Venus-Saturn sometimes breaks hearts. Saturn-Venus aspects are frequent in the synastry between mothers and daughters. 
6. Progressed Mercury (the most important planet in her chart) is on Midheaven.
7. Transit Pholus is square progressed Sun in that year, resonating a turning point in life (and health).

NATO's birthday today

Today (April 4, 2011*) Nato is 62 years old. Celebration time? The Solar Return Sun is conjunct Jupiter, and opposition Saturn and that is a sort of an astrological ' up and down'. The alliance is involved in Libya and some members don't agree...This is the chart with transits and progressions.

The chart of NATO is perfect for a military organisation because of the prominence of Mars, the tight trine of Sun and Pluto (authority, will to win).

- Mars is rising before the Sun and Venus. Mars is the planet of the military.

- Sun in Aries, ruled by Mars with Moon in Gemini (=commucating about arms)

- Sun trine Pluto is the tightest aspect: there is a will to be strong and the nature is 'defense' and ...politics

- Jupiter inconjunct Saturn shows that there is a somewhat disproportionate hierarchy and that there may be restrictions when it comes to 'growing'

LOOKING BACK...

And that is after all what we know about NATO. There is more in the chart of the first day of NATO, for example the Jupiter-Pholus conjunction (retrospective success; no war for a long time now:). Transit Neptune now opposition natal Saturn resonates the heavy disappointment about the missing consensus about Libya.

Happy New Year!

It is astrological New Year this Sunday (UT 23:20:50). In most of the time zones it will be March 21 when the Sun leaves the astrological sign of Pisces. Then the Sun will be in the first degree of Aries, the first sign of the astrological zodiac and right above the equator, on his way up to the tropic of Cancer (midsummer). Springtime!

We long for warmth and blooming flowers and we are still in the middle of global unrest and tension. The chart is mirroring that. The chart of springtime has the Sun between Mars and Uranus, with the Sun conjunct Uranus. The combination of Sun, Mars and Uranus is the combination of the short fuse, incidents and techniques (or unconventional struggle) at work. We are in an explosive situation in many ways. There is military action in Libya, there is the problem with the nuclear plants in Japan...Here are the charts of springtime in Tokyo and Tripoli and a chart related to the flowers and the bees: the Keukenhof chart. As to be expected, the last one is the most pleasant one.

When the astrological new year starts and people are on their way to the office on Monday, the midpoint of Ascendant and Midheaven for Tokyo is exactly semi square Uranus at Zero Aries, resonating the hectic and nervous situation.

There is a lot to do in the world, but it is springtime, too. And with Mars rising before the Sun I expect temperatures to rise soon (isn't Mars the 'hot' planet?:) One of my country's big attractions is Keukenhof, often visited by tourist from Japan, who now remain in their troubled country. Here is the chart of this attraction, with Jupiter rising before the Sun (indication of the international orientation), conjunct Venus and opposition Pluto on the axis AC/DC...there is a lot of many to earn and a lot of success was promissed from the start. The tightest aspect is Moon trine Venus, for sense of style and beauty. Isn't that the kind of springtime chart we would like to see now?

APRIL 2: MARS CONJUNCT URANUS

On April 2, 2011 there will be a conjunction of Mars and Uranus in the first degrees of Aries. For those born on the 21st, 22nd or 23th of December, March, June or September that is an alert. The Japanese Emperor Akihito (see his chart) was born with the Sun in the first degree of Capricorn and the earthquake was with transit Uranus square his Sun and more difficult transits and progressions. 

It takes more than just this transit, but still it is a warning not to drive too fast, for example. The conjunction of Mars and Uranus might be a 'perfect' moment for surgery, for acting on impulse, incidents and accidents. It is the combination of a shock or surprise (something that makes you nervous or 'wakes you up') and action, getting hurt or starting something new, like your response to the alarm in the fresh new morning. Astrology has a large vocabulary, but Mars-Uranus is supposed to accelerate whatever you do...It is a matter of circumstances, genes, gender and situation (+ the rule of 3) in what way your chart will resonate the present positions of Mars and Uranus. However, the orientational Mars is the symbol of sports, soldiers and activists or activism. It might be a 'hot' spring in many ways. April 2 is a chance for astrology to see if Mars conjunct Uranus has a more than individual effect.

Spring in Tripoli

 In fact, it already is 'hot', because allied forces are attacking the army of Kadafi.
The Spring Chart for Libya, where springtime starts at 2:20:50 a.m. has three prominent positions: Sun and Uranus opposition Midheaven and Pholus on the Ascendant. The angular Sun, Uranus and Pholus together show a crucial flashing change and a turning point on the horizon. Add this to the orientational Mars and you may notice that the most prominent positions in this chart are for Sun,Mars, Uranus and Pholus: turning point (Pholus) and an unconventional (Uranus) war (Mars) going on (techniques and a struggle, like in Japan). Let us hope that Sun conjunct Uranus will free the people (represented by the IC).

The Ascendant of the chart of spring in Libya is opposition the Sun of Kadafi.His desperate attempt to keep his position is reflected by the transit Pluto quindecile progressed Sun. The quindecile is the aspect of obsession and fanatism (the strong focus) and Pluto is the symbol of power, force, money, influence and strategy. Also transit Nessus is opposition his progressed Sun (see http://astropost.blogspot.com/2011/02/nessus-now-opposition-progressed-sun.html). Quote:
(about Nessus:Nessus is a quite recent object in the astrological chart. The myth of Nessus is that of a centaur who assaulted the wife of Hercules. Hercules shot him, but when he was dying Nessus gave his shirt (and blood) to Hercules'wife saying that if she gave it to Heracles, he would never be untrue to her. He wouldn't, because he died.) 

Of course there is more that is reflecting problems, like  transit Pluto quindecile progressed Sun (obsessed survival? danger), for example and progressed Mercury conjunct natal Saturn (that is a symbol of departure of final decission/separation and of hard decissions, too). Unfortunately the hour of birth is unknown and that is limiting the observations.
But let us get back to Nessus.
Quadhafi became Libia's leader on January 15, 1970.That was with transit Jupiter exactly square his natal Pluto (a sign of success) and... opposition Nessus. There he is again: Nessus. Just a quick observation...

Mars-Uranus, sparks and Uranus in (Zero) Aries

Uranus in Aries, 1927/1928 and 2010

This year  May 27 and on March 11, 2011 Uranus will be on 0.0 degree Aries (Aries Point). On April 1, 1927 and on January 13, 1928 Uranus was on 0.0 degree Aries, too. And what happened? I checked the internet and found 3 important events having impact on life on earth today: the independence of Iraq and Saudi Arabia and the invention of the first (primitive) particle accelerator. And how about you? Uranus-Uranus aspects by transit or progression tend to accelerate YOU!

WHAT HAPPENED?
The 1^st automatic record changer was introduced by His Master’s Voice. That is all. On January 13m 1928 Uranus was on 0.0 degree Aries again. What happened in between? What do these facts tell us about Uranus at Aries Point, the starting point of the Zodiac?

It seem that the introduction of Uranus in Aries is not very special for the entire world, at first. But, the final degrees of Pisces offered indepence to Iraq and Saudi Arabia and that was of importance to the inhabitans and to Great (but getting smallerJ) Britain. Now, with Uranus in the last decade of Pisces again, we see the impact of that event. So watch the news and look back after 82 years to see if anything happens now that will be important in 2092.

• JUPITER CONJUNCT URANUS 1928

What does it mean that Jupiter joined Uranus on January 23, 1928 and that that was the day of ‘ Brave Soldier Schwejk’s premiere? On that day Chico  Carrasquel (Baseball Venezuela) was born and so was Jeanne Moreau (actress, Frane). But the world didn’t change much, even though Russia and Japan agreed to allow Japanes fishermen in Russian waters on that day. German Wikipedia mentions

WHAT COULD/SHOULD OR MIGHT IT MEAN? JUST GUESSING...

Sometimes it is easy to draw conclusions about a position in the sky and start associating. Uranus in Aries, what could it be? A fresh new start for astrology? Introduction of new techniques? An incident that awakens the world? And Uranus conjunct Jupiter, shouldn’t that be a sudden windfall for the world united? Looking back in history is sometimes like a cold shower, but it helps to see that relating events to positions is easier when you don’t use exact dates and positions. Or else I could refer to Uranus move to Aries as the prelude to disaster (October 1929, Wall street crash), caused by high expectations in the summer of 1929, but…Uranus had moved about 10 degrees into Aries by then. Or I could name the rise of the Nazi-party, but in 1928 (the period of Uranus at Zero Aries) the party had the lowest possible seats in parliament. The party started growing after the crash! 

CONCLUSION

My conclusion is that the impact of inventions or independence of nations in the period of Uranus move to Aries is visible about 80 years later. And most of us don’t live long enough to witness and understand the impact of the first and the results in the second move to Aries. That is it. Or am I accelerating? 

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Few of us will experience a Uranus return. Some of us will experience a progressed Uranus return (when the retrograding Uranus goes direct in the first 2 or 3 months after birth). Transit Uranus opposition with Uranus is more frequent. I had it in a hectic month and year that changed my prospects. Sort of a midlife crisis, an wake-up call and bit of alarming change, but kicking! Or should I say: accelerating?


PS about the data of Brain History for Iraq and Saudi Arabia:
 The official indepence dates were years later. The British troops didn't immediately leave Iraq, for example. And the 'independence' date of Saudi Arabia is the date of the Treaty of Jeddah (permitting indepence to the King for part of the country). The official natal charts have other data.

READING THE CHART FROM THE START
Would we immediately have considered him to be a stuntman and magician? And if he lives long enough, will he be doing these kind of ‘magical performances’ all of his life? Probably not. So let's get back to where reading charts should start always as we cannot (IMO) make a difference between a person and the job that he does. Not when it is an unusual job like this. Characteristics sometimes lead you to the job that you have. So let us see how the elements, the combination of lights and Ascendant with the tightest aspects, the prominences (Astro ID) and specific midpoints, quintiles or yods lead us to the complete picture of David Blain.

Characteristics:
We see a self promoting active male (Aries Sun and Moon) who is basically expressive (airsigns and firesigns). He does not create things, doesn’t produce matter; no, he expresses or communicates. Still, his activities cannot be done without preparing, imagination and keeping it a secret how he does it (the twelfth house for discretion and vision). It is the kind of man who needs seclusion or being anonymous sometimes.
(And a fact is that he has himself buried alive from time to time)

Conclusion: an expressive, materialist/realistic, self promoter in the field of the anonymous/ amorphous.

MIDPOINTS
- Sun/Moon opposition a planet is what I call a 'midpoint yod' and the planet is the apex of the combination. Again we see Uranus is a prominent position, pointing at the ruler of the tenth equal house, calling! and final dispositor of the MC. This man just has to be special! But there is a certain danger: the combination with the sesquisquare with Neptune...The combination could indicate philanthropy, but it is also a sign for sudden weakness in case of taking the risks that he takes. This combination is dominating the chart of Klaas Bruinsma, the late Dutch top drugs dealer.

- Saturn, ruler Midheaven, square ASC /MC makes us aware of the ambitions of David Blain.

Conclusion: an ambitious, inventive and very special newsmaker!

Total conclusion: the birth chart of David Blain shows an ambitious and special person. We don't know much of his background, but certainly what he does is one of the ways to be very special.

ALTERNATIVE LOOK: THE ESOTHERIC SIDE OF THE CHART
Janduz called the 23rd degree of Capricorn (the degree of his MC) a degree of danger. The 7th of Aquarius (Mars in his chart is there) is a degree of vulnerability. The 8th of Aquarius (Jupiter in his chart) is a degree of inner independence (the book of Koppejan has the picture of a gladiator fighting a lion for this degree). Fifteen of Aries (his Sun) has the picture of a man who is fighting against the danger of drowning and that reminds me of one of his stunts. It is amazing (...) that 4 out of 10 of the positions has an element of danger and courage in it. I think it is amazing and worth pointing at it.

ASTROLOGY CHART OF DAVID BLAIN a most peculiar man with a prominent Uranus part1

On India Divine I found an HOB for David Blain, the illusionist and/or stuntman who has just completed a period of hanging upside down for 60 hours (only interrupted for food, toilet and medical check).
When you consider what he does, it is mostly: impressing the people, stunning them, confusing them in acts and putting his body at risk. It is not supposed to be good for your health to hang upside down, to stay in the water until your skin starts dropping off or to have an icy stay in a cocoon for days. He started as a magician, but now he is performing with his life at risk. He must have an amazing good health. He is different from other magicians or illusionist. His business (Capricorn MC) is to make a living with EXCITEMENT (prominent Uranus square MC) and the amorphous (Neptune, symbol of mysteries). I will explain more about the chart and in a second post I will do a reading from the start to show you how every way leads to controversial adventures.

SUCCESSFUL SELF PROMOTER IN AN AMORPHOUS WORLD
The birth chart of David Blain tells us that he is a self promoting person full of enterprise who needs to get material security. The tightest aspect combination in his chart is with Mars-Jupiter-Neptune, referring to doing a successful job in the world of fantasies and illusions (including religion, movies and chemical industries) and to being happy in spite of wasted energies and infections. In my Dutch book 'AstroTrio' I name two popes as an example of this combination. Popes and actors have in common that they have an audience with vision, fantasy or beliefs. Note that part of the Mars-Jupiter-Neptune combination is on top of his chart! He is above all a man with a lot of energy.

AMAZING!
David Blain is as amazing and exciting as Harry Houdini was in his days. Houdini had Uranus on the descendant. In the chart of Blain, Uranus is 'calling'(not making aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees) and square his MC. Uranus is the symbol of excitement and surprises. So it does not surprise astrologers that he needs to amaze the public and to be different from the rest.

BEING INVENTIVE
Jupiter is on top, with Mars in Aquarius (for technical inventiveness!). Mars is 105 degrees away from Uranus (again the techniques!). Mars, Jupiter and Uranus are prominent in this chart for being inventive in a successful way.

MAGIC AND MYSTERIES
Secrets, mysteries and discrete actions are often related to Neptune and Pluto, like in the charts of Robert Houdin (Neptune oriental), Criss Angel (Neptune oriental) and David Copperfield (Neptune and Pluto tightly connected to the Midheaven). Neptune is semi square Midheaven in the chart of David Blain. Neptune is also sextile Jupiter, 15 degrees from the MC. And Neptune is close to the cusp of the eight house (the house of Pluto). Neptune/Pluto is square Mars (ruler of the Sun and Moon, on top with Jupiter).
Pluto impresses with a biquintile with the Ascendant (creative way to be an authority). He combines a profession that takes secrecy and mystery with a creative way to impress others.

TIMELINE AND ...TODAY
In 1999, when he first started to do stunts, he had progressive Sun square Jupiter. Jupiter promisses growth, success and progression. His solar return chart for this year has Sun, Mars and Jupiter angular. Next year, Uranus will be square his solar return ASC, all the way down in the chart. His progressive Sun is going to be inconjunct his prominent Uranus in the year to come and that is another warning. His will to be someone special in his field (Uranus) might be done with a lot of 'but's'.

Today he has transit Saturn inconjunct the natal Sun. Maybe someone can ask him to take better care of himself? How long can this be going on, taking more and more risks, one performance more impressive than the other? In a few years time his progressive Midheaven changed sign. Perhaps that is a good moment to start another kind of business.

When I had Transit Uranus square my natal MC and progressed Ascendant the surprise (and shock) was that there was a mouse in the living room.

DOG IN HOSPITAL with transit Mars oppositon Sun

Dogs are like family. When a dog has to go to hospital, the family is worried. Chelsea is my son’s dog, but I consider her my 'grandchild':) She is energetic, all Aries (Sun and probably also her Moon), and looks amazingly young (her Venus in Gemini?). And she loves to travel (Jupiter oriental). Lately, in Switzerland, you could watch her smile. She does not like other dogs, except for male hush puppies with deep dark voices. But she just loves children, as all Dogues de Bordeaux do.

And now she is in hospital. Tuesday, early in the morning, my son noticed that Chelsea was unable to move her legs. She was shaking all over. It seems to be polyartritis. This all happens to her with transit Mars opposition natal Sun, so it seems the doctors in the veterinarian hospital are right and there is some infection. The doctor said that Chelsea is in an amazing condition for her age (9, 5 and the average age of a Dogue de Bordeaux is 8, 5), has a strong heart, a good skeleton and bright eyes. She only has that silly arthritis. A quick glance on the Internet tells me that arthritis is usually linked to Gemini. Hmm...Maybe it is her Ascendant, because she is rather intelligent and communicative. Chelsea can communicate by telephone, knows who she is talking to (really!) and expresses joy, sympathy, or irritation. She uses me as an intermediary when her boss does not want to do as she wishes soon enough. I guess we communicate that well because her Mercury is square my Venus.

Wonder why my son wanted her? Her Venus is trine Neptune and both are related to his (and my:) Moon! Moon, that is were her home is. We hope she will be back soon. In the meantime: read all about the signs and your dog on my site Astromarkt:)
