Coco Chanel in love and war

Lisa Chaney writes in ‘An intimate life’ about the relationship of Coco Chanel with a German officer in war time, during the occupation of France. It is not the first time, but again it is news. That might be the reason why transit Uranus is square her progressed Sun now (upheaval). The Sun-Uranus ('Aurora') aspect is also the link between her chart and that of her younger lover, Hans Gunther von Dincklage, born December 15, 1896 (his Saturn square her Sun). Most women who had enemy lovers faced an ordeal after war, but Coco was arrested and soon released (for unknown reasons). She went to Switzerland. She has Jupiter, in the 7th house, rising before her Sun for an international orientation when it comes to partners.

Synastry between Coco and Hans

The famous lady of fashion and the enemy officer were an unusual couple. His Uranus is square her Sun. Her Uranus is square his Sun. I wrote about the Aurora-effect in Sun-Uranus synastry on Astrology&Love:

Natal, transit and progression in 1941

Her chart shows that there is a possibility of an affair starting in 1941. When she met him, in 1941, her Progressed Venus conjunct Midheaven reveals the love theme, but there was more. Progressed Sun square Jupiter and Transit Saturn inconjunct Midheaven and Ascendant show progress (she sold her products to the Nazi’s) and a crucial fault (see: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/article6027932.ece about her in war time). In the Art&Astrology post about Audrey Tautou, who played the role of Coco Chanel once, I wrote about the talent in the chart of Miss Chanel: 

“ Coco Chanel had other kind of talents. She was able to lead a company. She started her career with an affair with a very rich man, while working at a tailoring shop. Maybe that is why Mars (men) is crucial in her chart? Another important planet is Jupiter. Jupiter is the first outer planet rising before the Sun. And last but not least there is Pluto. Pluto does not make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. That makes Pluto important, the 'calling' planet. We see Mars, Jupiter and Pluto prominently placed in her chart. There is one important thing in this chart that points at fashion (or any other branche related to the basic needs of menkind, like clothes, food, having someone to take care of you as a child and edcution). And that is the Moon. The Moon is the first planet that will be 'hit' by the Ascendant on the day of birth. The Moon is standing apart from the other positions in the chart. “

NOT MARRIED

Recently I wrote about bachelors and Virgo. There is no Virgo in the chart of Coco Chanel, except for the ruler of the 7^th house. The Black Moon is on the Midheaven. Funny thing is, that Lilith is the mythical 'runaway bride' of Adam and that she never married. But she may have had a long lasting and late relationship with Von Dincklage. I find it interesting that she never married and yet has Jupiter in the 7^th house. There is no key for marriage or divorce, except that Jupiter in the 7^th house and Sun sextile Mars shows that she is independent enough to be her own 'man'. Jupiter represents the ‘lot of’ , ‘more’, ‘social improvement’ and ‘international’ or ‘traveller’. She went to Switzerland, probably with her German lover. 

In 1956 she returned with transit Neptune conjunct Midheaven (and that is the symbol of isolation). The French didn’t want her back then. But her success in the USA eventually made everybody forget about the war.

All is fair in love and war, they say. Did And Coco Chanel knew all about that?

Naomi Campbell: Saturn hits her Yod

Naomi Campbell is hot news these days. I read that there were false reports about planning to get married to Wladislaw Doronin (a Russian billionaire), that she is getting bold (by traction alopecia or due to the weight of hair extensions, see the pictures...)  and that she is ordered to testify about a blood diamond given to her by Charles Taylor (see the news of Reuters).

I have written about the progessed chart of Naomi Campbell last year (link).
This time transit Saturn hits her Yod of Venus-Neptune-Ascendant (for the art of presenting herself*), reflecting the limitations and restrictions of her image (loosing her hair).

NATAL CHART
The specific astrological positions for the time and place of birth of Naomi Campbell shows the importance of beauty and looks (Venus-Neptune-Ascendant in a Yod; AC/MC = Venus), the international (Jupiter) and women-being a woman with all that includes 'womenhood' like f.ex. fashion, education (Moon calling in 10th house). Her hour and place of birth was perfect for a model to be born... Here is the chart with observations:

1.Success and travelling is prominent in her natal chart

She has Jupiter on top (for the international) and a 'calling'(unaspected) Moon semi square Jupiter (showing the need for expension and success).

2.The art of presenting yourself
*) There is a special combination in her chart. Venus is the Apex in a Yod with Ascendant and Neptune, pointing at the fotogenetic model that she is. Venus-Neptune relates style to the fantasy and is one of the indications of art. The ascendant is the 'doorway' to others (the way you present yourself).


Venus-Neptune combinations also mirror high sensitivity (f.ex. of the skin) and in the charts of men: love affairs (hidden women:).

3.The Moon calls
She has a calling Moon in the 10th house of profession (for fashion, acting... and needs/behaviour at any level). The Moon could have referred to education or children, too, if she didn't have that Yod with Venus in the 5th house of performance.

4.The opposition of Sun and Neptune on the meridian is reflecting the 'double' life of a model. With Sun-Neptune there is always the question of identity (am I who they say that I am?). Neptune is on the MC. Perhaps this Sun-Neptune-Midheaven combination mirrors the fact that she never knew her biological father.

5. Naomi is a prominent person with 5 prominent positions: Sun, Moon, Venus, Jupiter and Neptue...The pattern of a beautiful lady with a public and fans.

6. Watch the Mercury-Saturn conjunction rising before the Sun...She is first of all a business woman with ambition.

7. Quaoar is square Ascendant and elevated.
Quaoar is the symbol of creating new realities and creations in itself. She shows them!

8. AC/MC = Venus
Well, she IS a Venus, isn't she?:)

BTW Venus in Gemini often loves to dance! Naomi's mother was a ballet dancer. I quote myself again:

HOW ABOUT YOU?
Venus makes you feel good, but Saturn tends to put you down whenever your vanity shows up. Saturn is now in the last degrees of Virgo and will soon enter Libra. If your Venus is there or if transit Saturn is in hard aspect with your Venus you might (for a while) feel restricted in pleasures, fun and comfort. Sometimes this is because of a skin or beauty problem. Sometimes you just don't have the money to have some fun. You see the disadvantages of what you have (not). However, you could also use this transit to get formally married (a legal wedding or a contract for marriage). But it takes Jupiter to turn it into a party...

Bobby Brown lives

Bobby Brown is an R&B singer-songwriter, occasional rapper, and dancer (watch the Venus-Uranus opposition for sense of rhythm), the ex-husband of Whitney Houston. The news about Bobby (real name is Robert Barisford) is that he is alive. That is what Seven-sided Cube reports after twitters about Bobby Brown’s death. Fact: he did see the doctor in hospital, there were pictures of him in bed and his representative said that Bobby had a heart attack. Bobby says that he is alive and kicking.

Charts, transits and progressions mirror the actual situation, like the water in the fjord mirrors the hills. There is a difference between the mirror and the real situation (shaped and coloured by other elements than the mirroring water in the picture). Every astrological reflection needs knowledge of the material situation in order to ' read' the possible interpretation in real life. We don't know the hour of birth of Bobby Brown and we don't know all the circumstances. That is why it would have been easy to misjudge the composition of astrological indications in the chart below. It is not an easy going chart. Several serious transits and progressions accompany the news about his supposed death and the interesting thing is that these transits and progression are like a warning. Saturn and Neptune (combination of illnesses) are linked by Uranus and Sun (news/health). Also the Mars, Saturn and Pluto combination is reflecting danger (or fear) of death. Maybe his short stay in hospital helped him understand to take better care of himself, who knows.These combinations don’t imply death or near death. They just indicate the fact that the issue of death and being ill is a very hot item in this period of his life.

Virtually he WAS (considered to be) death for a few hours and his chart could be read as 'supporting' the rumours. As Mars is inconjunct Saturn in his natal chart, the theme of death and hitting too hard already is important. One of the persons he slapped was his wife Whitney Houston. Bobby Brown is the ex-husband of Whitney Houston. His Venus is oppostion her Juno, there Suns are also in opposition and the Moons are inconjunct. More about the match of the famous couple on Astrolgy & Love (link).

Whitney Houston seems to be attractive in the eyes of violent males. Here is part of my reading of Osama Bin Laden's chart:
In August 2006 an 'ex-sexslave' of Osama told the media that he was obsessed by Whitney Houston and even planned murdering her husband. It is astrologically a case of counterparts. Whitney Houston is a Leo and Osama a Pisces (difficult combinations basically). The Moon of Whitney is in Aries and his in Cancer (difficult to live together or to get used to the different habits.) His Mercury is opposed to hers (problems communicating). Her Venus is in a very narrow inconjunction to his Venus (they cannot match preferences). Her Mars is sesqui square his (good for a fight or not longlasting sexual attraction). Her Pluto opposes his Venus and Mercury (that makes the attraction very intense). Check it yourself: Whitney Houston is born 9th August 1963.

Princess Madeleine's ended engagement

Swedish Princess Madeleine had a fiancé, but he had an affair and now the relationship has stopped. There are several transits and progressions reflecting the situation. Some of these indications were there when the engagement was announced (with transit Pholus on the progressed Ascendant, see the second chart of this post). Short lists:
Mercury-Saturn, Pluto-Ascendant, Mars-Saturn, Pluto and Saturn with Juno, Pholus with Venus, and the solar return chart with Saturn ruler 7 opposition Midheaven. There is more about those aspects and transits when you scroll down.

JONAS
Jonas has Mars rising before and conjunct Sun in Aquarius, opposition Jupiter. I think that the transit of Saturn inconjunct his progressed Sun perfectly describes how a mistake had a very unbalancing effect on the continuation of his way of life.

MORE ABOUT THE TRANSITS AND PROGRESSIONS
A keen indication for the separation is 1) transit Saturn square progressed Mercury (combination for a goodbye) and for the revelation in the newspapers: transit Uranus square and Neptune trine her progressed Mercury.
In the natal chart Mercury is in the 7th house of the now cancelled marriage, opposition Uranus in the first house. And that is what the news is about: she opposition her partner.

Also 2) the progressed Ascendant in the 10th of Sagittarius (with fixed star Antares) is semi square natal Pluto, mirroring the difficulties in relationships. 3) In the progressed chart Mars was conjunct Saturn last year and that is one of the 4 signs for separations in the chart of a woman, maybe at the time of meeting her fiance.

Juno is the symbol of marriage. 3) Transit Pluto (ruler 1st house) is now exactly conjunct Juno and recently transit Saturn was square progressed Juno.

Also 4) transit Pholus was opposition Venus for a turning point in love...In the solar return for the coming solar year (after her birthday), Pholus holds a prominent place on the IC. The past year's solar return had Saturn on the IC..
So there is enough reason (3 or more) to expect hard times in love.

The announcement of the engagement on August 11, 2009 was with transit Pholus exactly conjunct the progressed Ascendant, with the Progressed Sun about to square Saturn. Was that the sign of shooting her foot and regret later?

PS One of the less 'fitting' transits is Jupiter opposition her Midheaven. In the natal chart Jupiter is in the equal 12th house and the Placidus 11th. Perhaps she is happy or prosperous in another field than love right now.

Famous couples: King and Queen of Norway

King Harald V and Queen Sonja have a special and rather romantic love story. It took them 9 years to convince the father of Harald that he had choosen the right woman to be the next Queen of Norway. He had fallen in love with her big brown eyes from the first moment that he saw her. That is the effect of Venus in Aries. He has Venus inconjunct Neptune, so for a king to be he has a rather disproportionate romantic nature. He fell in love and didn't want nobody else, even if he tried. Let us see if they match:)

Saturn in relationships

With Saturn in a relationship you know what you (don’t) have. Saturn aspects in synastry usually are considered to be bad. Perhaps these aspects don't make it easier, but one thing is sure: they often reflect long lasting relationship. This does not mean that it is a nice and shiny romantic relationship. It can be any kind of relationship. Saturn is the symbol of business, too.

There may be good reasons for the official marriage to continue or for keeping in touch and sharing responsibilities (obligations - real or imagined -, material security, children, laws or a facade). One of the ways to reflect the Saturnal influence in a relationship is ‘keeping up appearances’. Sometimes this is because of a public function and sometimes just for the world outside. Saturn is the (sometimes two component) glue that keeps a relationship going,even if you would like it to end.

A broken heart on a chain suites this story about Saturn and realtions. It is harder to keep the heart on the right place and it might cost a lot of glue to hold things together. But this is only in the end, of course, when the relationship failed...and if the Saturn influence in relationships was already visible in the natal chart. I have a few examples of couples in politics, royal couples, actors and of not famous (but interesting) couples.

ENTERTAINMENT
A divorced couple in my country (she a song writer, he a singer) has a son who needs to be taken care of because of several handicaps. They fight each other at court, because she is not willing to leave his house. She cannot find a house that is just as large as this and she wants a stable for her horses. What keeps them 'related' even after divorce, astrologically speaking? Saturn! Her Saturn is semi square his natal Sun.

Elisabeth Taylor married again and again and sometimes she married the same person, Richard Burton. She has Venus conjunct Uranus in Aries and that explains her impulsive decisions. This conjunction is inconjunct the Sun and Saturn of Richard Burton. That reflect the disproportionate (inconjunction) relationship.
Her Saturn is trine his Descendant. Burton has Sun conjunct an oriental Saturn and Venus in Capricorn. Liz has Sun semi quintile a 'calling' Saturn.

PRESIDENTS
President Sarkozy married singer Carla Bruni. His Saturn is conjunct her Venus and trine her Ascendant. Should I read it like this: they are together because of her good looks and his position? See the post about this famous couple. Bruni has Sun square Saturn (ruler 7th house of marriage).

Saturn of Bill Clinton is exactly square Hillary's Sun. They did not divorce in spite of their difficulties. Maybe they separated their lives, but officially they are still married. Their relationship stands like a rock. Hillary has Venus square Saturn.

Barack Obama's Saturn is inconjunct Michelle's Sun. Her Jupiter is trine his Sun, however, and that is tighter aspect (see the reading of the famous couple's charts). The composite chart has Sun square Saturn.
What does this couple share with the Clintons?

Both are or have been Presidents of the United States and I presume that their function and status (symbolised by Saturn) has two effects on the lives of their partners. One: they are restricted and limited in a way, by obligations and protocol. It would not be easy to divorce the most important person in the world and the world is watching every step and move to see if something is wrong. The other side is status and a position in society that is strongly related to the husband. His fall is yours, when you are a first lady.

The Kennedy's have a Saturn-connection. Her Saturn is biquintile his Mars. His Saturn is square her Moon. In the composite chart Sun and Moon are square Saturn. John F. Kennedy had several mistresses and affairs in the short period of his presidency. What effect would this have had on their marriage?

ROYAL EXAMPLES
Queen Juliana of the Netherlands was married to Prince Bernhard and they remained married even after serious problems and even though she knew that he had daughters with two of his mistresses. His Saturn is square her Midheaven, her Saturn is conjunct his Mars. The government of those days told her that she had to step back if she divorced. So she could not leave him and she left their bedroom instead. Bernhard had Venus square Saturn.

Saturn of Prince Charles was inconjunct Jupiter ruler 1 of Princess Diana and they divorced, but as she was the mother of the next king to be, there was an important unbreakable tie between them. In their composite chart the Sun is sextile Saturn.

ORDINARY PEOPLE
I could go on and on with these kind of examples. But what if you are not 'famous', royal, not the first lady or the President? 80% of the women in the world depend on the social position of their husband. They don't all have Saturn aspects in synastry. Saturn may create a situation of obligations and mutual responsibilities (as a parent for example).

Example: a couple living apart ‘apart’ but officially married. His Saturn is exactly square her Pluto and Pluto is her ruler 1. When he stepped out of the house, she had progressed Sun opposition Pluto and he had a progressed inconjunction of Venus and Saturn with progressed Ascendant square Saturn. Venus is inconjunct Saturn in his natal chart, too, so this aspect activated the existing 'to say goodbye to your lover, but...'. Her Venus is conjunct Saturn. So they share the aspect of the official marriage (and the disadvantages of it).

Most people divorce when the marriage is over. I know a couple that shared Venus square Saturn (they both had that aspect in their chart) and they divorced. But there remain problems between them because of the child that they have. The relationship did not end with the marriage, because of responsibilities and parenthood. They divorced because their Saturns didn’t aspect a personal planet of the partner.

EVERLASTING...eh...LOVE?
Charts belong to individuals and their specific situations. Individuals discover unique ways to express the astrological symbols. Saturn is the symbol of what is long lasting. But sometimes with Saturn problems, trouble and difficulties together just don't seem to come to an end. Does this mean that you should avoid Saturn-kind of relationships? Even if Saturn is important in relationships, according to your natal chart? Perhaps if that is, you are drawn to serious, secure, long lasting relationships and you might avoid the one night stand pleasures. There is a good side and a bad side about Saturn. The good side is that you know what you have (or not...:)

Famous partners: Steve Wozniak & Steve Jobs (Apple)

Business relationships can be as strong as marriage and produce or create a product like marriage may create a child. My example of today: Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs, the Apple guys. Their charts are connected by strong and tight aspects, they share a success indicating aspect and in their composite chart the beneficial Jupiter rises before the Sun.

MEETING
An oriental Pluto, as Noel Tyl says, is reflecting the importance of 'who you know'. Steve Wozniak knew Steve Jobs, a 5 year younger man who wanted to create a personal computer. Jobs met Wozniak with progressed Sun conjunct Jupiter. You can see that as meeting the man who helps you on the right way. The Jupiter of Wozniak is conjunct the natal Sun of Jobs. PARTNERS
Now look at the interaction of their charts...There charts (and lives) are strongly related!


Steve Jobs'Uranus is exactly conjunct the Moon-Venus conjunction of Steve Wozniak

The strongest interaction is between the Moon and the Descendant and between Jupiter and Sun. Those sort of connections are important in the charts of a couple of a man and a woman and just as important in other relationships.
What they share is an aspect between Jupiter and Uranus. Jobs has the conjunction, Wozniak has the trine. They share 'positive change' and being inventive. Sharing Jupiter-Uranus is sharing sudden success.

MERCURY INCONJUNCT MERCURY
It is very interesting that the men have an inconjunct between their Mercuries. This means that their ideas and ways of thinking just don't match. There can be strong differences of opinion. Or different studies. Or maybe they lost interest in working together. Anyway, the inconjunction promisses 'lost contact', different directions for interest and studies.

But first, TOGETHER they started a company and created Apple. From the interaction between their charts you can see that they strongly influenced each other. Jobs'existence (ASC/MC) was of crucial importance for realising the dreams (Sun-Neptune) of Wozniak). Wozniak had/has great sense of style and his chart says that he is above all inventive (a technician, someone who is to make changes). Jobs is the 'inventor', the leader, and salesman (Mercury on ASC, Saturn oriental). Together they were strong with Jupiter rising in their composite chart and conjoined inventiveness.

A YEAR OF CHANGES: 1980
- WOZNIAK
The prominence of Uranus (elevated) and Pluto (rising before the Sun) in the chart of Wozniak made me think of an arrest or an accident (a sudden and unexpected dramatic change). In 1981 he suffered from amnesia due to a private plane crash during progressed Sun conjunct Saturn (experiencing the disadvantages of the way you live). That was a year after he became very rich with Apple.

In 1980 the progressed and solar return chart promissed pleasure. In his progressed chart the Moon was conjunct natal Venus, Venus was opposition natal Jupiter and the Moon too. Venus was on the Midheaven of his solar return chart. Yes, it was a year of fun and pleasure, followed by a very serious year. He graduated in 1986, when the progressed Sun was conjunct progressed Saturn.

- JOBS
Jobs has an unaspected Sun (for leadership, drawing attention) and he always was more in the centre of attention than Wozniak was, even though Wozniak is a Leo.
Jobs also has Moon and Mercury without major aspects (for sense of study).
Jobs’s progressed Sun changed sign in the year that changed his life, 1980. Also progressed Mercury was conjunct his Sun. He had Uranus on the Descendant of the solar return (another indication for the change in his life).

Famous couple: Josef and Rosemarie Fritzl

On Sternwelten (17 november 2008)I finally found the birth day of Rosemarie Fritzl, the wife of Josef Fritzl and the mother of Elisabeth Fritzl: September 23, 1939. I have always wondered about the contents of her chart. Now that I have a date of birth, this enables me to have a look at the match between her and her husband. My conclusion: there is no match but yes, they shared a life and astrological aspects. They shared a desire for earning money (Venus-Jupiter-Pluto) and they shared deadly danger (Mars-Saturn-Pluto).

Here are the charts of the days of birth (for noon) of Rosemarie, Elisabeth and Josef Fritzl.
ROSEMARIE
I choose not to try to read the chart of Rosemarie Fritzl, without knowing her hour of birth. But, allow me to quote Cafe Astrology about Sun inconjunct Saturn: 'It is easy for you to take on responsibilities that aren't yours while ignoring ones that are.' I think this perfectly reflects the upbringing of the children of her daughter and not having protected her daughter against her abusive husband (and she knew that he was convicted for rape).

Rosemarie educated 10 children: 7 of her own, 3 of her daughter. In 1992 the first foster child was dropped on her doorstep and that was with progressed Sun opposition Uranus: someone else suddenly changed her life. In an interview in 2009 she referred to her sad financial position since the arrest of her husband. She had to give up on 7 houses and a lot of money. Venus-Pluto is the financial axis. Transit Pluto was conjunct progressed Venus when her daughter stepped out of her prison. Progressed Venus is getting closer and closer to Pluto now.

BTW Mars square Saturn is one of the aspects that indicate possible divorce in the chart of females.

Nothing matches. But...

WHAT THEY SHARE...
They share (a combination of) aspects. Josef and Rosemarie share Venus opposition Jupiter: they love to travel, marriage is 'for better'. Both have Venus in aspect with Jupiter and Pluto for earning a lot of money. They were rather wealthy together, having 7 houses.

But most of all: they share 'hard measures'.

SHARING HARD MEASURES
The chart of Fritzl is obviously that of an abusive person or should I say: a person who has the potential to be abusive. Mars, Saturn and Pluto form the combination of severe and hard measures, unnatural death and danger of death. This combination is in the charts of Josef, Rosemarie and Elisabeth.

- Josef Fritlz’ Sun in Aries is opposition Mars and Mars square Pluto. Saturn is opposition the midpoint Mars/Pluto.
- Elisabeth has Mars biquintile Pluto and semi sextile Saturn. Pluto is 157.5 degrees from Mars/Saturn.
- Rosemarie has Mars opposition Pluto and square Saturn. Mars is sesquisquare Saturn/Pluto.

The Mars-Saturn-Pluto connection reflects the fact that they all had part in the dangerous use and abuse of violence, as a victim or as an abuser. And the Mars and Pluto of Josef (use of violence) are the planets connecting their charts!
- Josef's Pluto is square Elisabeth's Mars. His Saturn is semi square her Mars.
- Josef’s Mars is quindecile Rosemarie's Saturn and quintile her Pluto.

ELISABETH
Elisabeth's life changed in a positive way in 2008 and so did her chart. Her progressed Sun changed sign and progressed Venus joined her natal Sun to reflect that. But these days transit Saturn is inconjunct HER Sun since her father's trial and conjunct her Uranus. This is the combination of restricted freedom (Saturn-Uranus-Sun). She is still in a proces of transformation. Her progressed Sun is moving into Gemini, to another lifestyle and another way of living, but not stable yet.

*)They married in 1955/1956, when her progressed Sun was conjunct his natal Mars. In her natal chart there is a trine between Sun and Mars. When she and her husband were seperated, her progressed Sun was conjunct Mars. (I mention this just to show the cycle of life...)

Famous couple: Silvio Berlusconi and Veronica Lario

Silvio Berlusconi and Veronica Lario (pseudo for Miriam Raffaella Bartolini) married on December 15, 1990 (when their Sun sign changed in progression and so did their lives! See the progressed chart below). They have 3 children together, the first one born in 1984. They know each other from the 80s, it is a long lasting relationship.

Veronica seems to communicate with Silvio by means of public letters. In the last one she said that she and her family are the victims of the shameless flirtations of her husband. Silvio Berlusconi chooses 'Misses' to join his government, lately. This post is about the question: Do they match? The answer is NO. So why did they get married? And stay married...
Yes, he impressed her (his Pluto is conjunct her Sun in the seventh house). And: he gave her children (his Mars conjunct her Jupiter). His Moon is trine her Midheaven and his Jupiter is parallel her Ascendant. Those are pleasant indications for supporting her and caring for her position in life. But generally: they don't make a match.

NO MATCHES

Those signs are not naturally understanding each other. See the post about matching signs.... The good thing is that those conflicting positions don't make hard aspects because the orb is too wide.

TO DIVORCE OR TO STAY MARRIED
With so many NOT matching signs, one wonders what brought them together and why they don't divorce. His chart is reflecting a slight potential for divorce (Moon in Pisces in a wide opposition Neptune). Her chart no potential for divorce, but is reflecting upheavel and 'flashlight' in the relationship (Uranus in the seventh house, semisesquisquare Sun/Moon). Does that mean that they have to stay married till ever after, even though they don't match? Perhaps, because they are Roman Catholics. They may not live in one house (and that is very possible with conflicting Moons), but they won't easily get divorced. Besides: on cusp 7 (the house of marriage) Berlusconi has Taurus (and that is one of the signs involved in the pattern of long lasting relationships, see that post).

WHAT THEY SHARE
Sometimes people are involved because they share the same kind of ideas, ways of life, experiences or goals, symbolized by having the same (kind of) aspects between two planets or lights. I have written about that on Astromarkt.
Let us have a look at the aspects to see what they share. They share:

Sun conjunct Mercury (for subjective ideas and thinking of themselves)
Moon in aspect with Neptune (she has Moon sextile Neptune; for romantic/idealistic needs or habits or being sensitive and empathic for each other)
Venus in aspect with Mars (for passion)
Ascendant in aspect with Ceres (he sextile, she square)

STRONG CONNECTIONS IN MIDPOINTS
How is it possible that those aspects kept them together? Ceres! I will explain that later in this post. And:

a. His Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn are in hard aspect (in the 22.5 d range) with her Sun/Moon midpoint.
b. His Pluto is sesquisquare her ASC/MC, his Moon square her ASC/MC and his Sun is sesquisemisquare her ASC/MC.
c. Venus is elevated in the composite chart

That means that love is above all uniting them and that there is a very strong crucial and powerful connection. It would be hard, if not impossible, to finish this marriage. The midpoint connection of her Sun/Moon with four of his positions shows that he represents family life in her eyes in more than one way.

CERES
Charts should always been read with the cultural backgrounds in mind. But in this case there is even more reason to do so. They both have Ceres in aspect with the Ascendant. Roots, genes and the basics of life (nurture for example) are very important for them. Her Ceres, the symbol of motherly love, is at a crucial spot in the chart, below. All that Ceres symbolizes may have been the cement that kept them together. I think tradition is one of those items.

This time however, there are difficulties for both.

SEPARATING TIMES
Lately Veronica had transit Saturn square her progressed Sun. She will have another transit of Saturn this summer. She also has transit Pluto is square her progressed Ascendant. Transit Neptune is inconjunct her Sun and Mercury. It is obvious that she is not in most favorable circumstances. She is down, depressed and ashamed. She means what she writes. Saturn's transit might even cause separation and distance.
But there is good news for her. The progressed Moon and Midheaven are to make aspects with Jupiter this year and progressed Venus is soon to be conjunct Uranus. Perhaps that brings her luck or fun.

Silvio Berlusconi had transit Saturn square progressed Sun, too, lately and this summer he will face another square. Times are hard and his mistakes come to the light. By means of his wife, because in the progressed chart they share transit Saturn square Sun right now. The nasty sides of life are being highlighted.

It is clear that people can have long lasting relationships even if they don't really seem to 'match'. Sometimes people have other reasons to get 'connected'. I like the quintile between her Mercury and his...She sure found a creative way to communicate with the owner of so many newspapers: in a public paper that he does not own:).

Famous couple: Charles and Camilla

Today Prince Charles met the Pope with transit Jupiter square his Sun. That is a good sign for a trip abroad. And now that I mention him, let us see how he matches with Camilla.

CHARLES
Charles married Diana first. In his chart Venus conjunct Neptune shows the possible divorce. He has Sun/Moon in aspect with Saturn and that is a reflection of breaking up a family in our days (it means: a distant family life).

CAMILLA
Camilla married Mr. Parker first. In her chart Sun is semi sextile Uranus, a weak sign for a divorce. But Sun/Moon is 22.5 degrees from Saturn and from Uranus. Restricted and stirred up family life...

MATCH
I like the way that their charts match.
His Sun is trine hers (within 1.5 degrees)
Their Ascendants are close together,just like their MC's

They can easily join lifes, they share the same kind of approach and goals and as the Moons are in agreeable signs, they are able to live together. There are no conflicts, although the signs of Venus and Mars don't match. There is compensation for that: her Sun/Moon is square his prominent Venus. His love and sympathy have an effect on her family life and is what she wants most of all. How romantic.

Her Descendant is inconjunct his Saturn and that reveals some of the problems. Is "a disproportionate (inconjunct) delay (Saturn) of marriage (Descendant)" a good translation of the astrological message, perhaps?

Guess chart for Michelle Obama

I agree with Cafe Astrology about the importance of Sun/Moon midpoint in relationships. My husband's Sun is exactly square my Sun/Moon, for example.

When I was looking at the relationship between the charts of the Obamas, I thought of that.
Now say that Michelle Obama's Moon is on her Ascendant, opposition Venus of Barack Obama. That would make her Sun/Moon midpoint opposition his Sun. And the Saturn-Uranus inconjunction in his chart, connected with her Sun, would be mirrored by the combination of Sun in Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) and Moon in Aquarius (ruled by Uranus).

This results in an hour of birth of about 8:52 a.m. It would place Ceres on the Midheaven, and does not this suite a first lady (a female icon)? Her special style and fashion is already famous. In the chart above Moon and Venus are on the Ascendant to illustrate the importance of sense of style, art and good manners.

Michelle has her Sun, Mars and Jupiter without Ptolemaic aspects. The combination of Sun, Mars and Jupiter is the combination of successful action at any possible level. The success in her chart and life is evident. And with Ceres, Moon and Venus on the corner stones of her chart this would (also) be 'as a woman' (or a lady:).

It remains speculation, of course...But with this chart (or any chart half an hour sooner or later) Barack Obama and Michelle would share the aspect Moon-Jupiter (for a need for success and a lot of popularity). He has the trine and she has the semi square.
And...they married in October 1992. With this hour of birth she would have Ascendant conjunct Jupiter in the progressed chart for her wedding day. And Jupiter is the planet for a celebration.
And...in 1998 they had their first daughter. That was with Moon on the IC of her solar return chart (for a changing status, for becoming a mother).

Famous couple: Barack and MIchelle Obama

The most famous couple in the world of politics are the Obama's. Why are they together? Michelle Obama is a Sun Capricorn and Barack Obama is a Sun Leo. Their Suns are a quindecile apart for a strong focus on each other. Their sunsigns don't match, however. Capricorn and Leo Suns are both the kind of persons who want to be in charge.

Barack Obama is a Leo and in his progressed chart Saturn (ruler of Capricorn) is on top right now. This shows leadership and responsibilities.
Michelle's Sun in Capricorn (the sign of responsibilities, government and ambition) does not make Ptolemaic aspects: she is drawing attention and wants to be in the centre of it at any possible level.
So both have the qualities of a leader. Who's in charge:)? She is very encouraging and supporting him (Jupiter trine his Sun; their successes connect them) and he respects her (Saturn conjunct her Sun; responsibilities and ambitions connect them).

OBSERVATIONS
1. Natal charts and divorce
There are no aspects that indicate divorce in their charts.

2. Synastry
Saturn of Barack is conjunct Sun of Michelle.
Uranus of Barack is inconjunct Sun of Michelle.
Saturn of Michelle is inconjunct Mars of Barack.
Her Neptune is square his Ascendant.
Her Mars is trine his Moon.
But the tightest aspect is: her Jupiter trine his Sun (support and trust).

3. Shared aspects
There are no shared aspects (but see the next post about Michelle's guess chart).

CONCLUSION
The synergy promisses stability. The tendency in the president's chart to almost desperately stick to old patterns (Saturn inconjunct Uranus) is strongly connectd to Michelle's Sun.

Barack and Michelle Obama are both strong personalities and Michelle is a great support for Barack Obama. She has faith in him (her Jupiter and Neptune are involved). But...there is also the Mars-Saturn inconjunction. It is not a pleasant aspect. It is one of the indications in a woman's chart for an untimely end of a relationship with a man (perhaps through divorce). Famous couple: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Rumours say that the marriage of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is in a difficult period right now. Newspapers say that Angelina Jolie caught Brad Pitt with a nanny. There are other rumours, too: about the couple getting married!

NEPTUNE (desillusion, gossip and isolation)
Right now, Neptune is close to the progressed Descendant of Jolie and at the same time close to the Ascendant of Brad Pitt. Neptune was also opposition MC in his solar return chart. Neptune is his oriental planet, so very important. Neptune often confuses and causes desillusion or isolation. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are living apart right now because of their jobs (making movies in different places).
The other side is, that Neptune causes gossip too:) Sometimes it is amazing how newspapers and magazines manage to know exactly what Brad Pitt told Angelina Jolie...

MARS SQUARE MARS (cooperating or ...fighting each other)
The reported fuss and anger are not surprising, however. Her Mars is exactly square his Mars. I have seen that before. It was so in the charts of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow, see the post with links to the charts of other examples, like:
- Paul McCartney and Heather Mills with Mars inconjunct Mars
- Ike and Tina Turner with Mars square Mars
- Diana and Dodi, with Mars square Mars
- Andrew and Sarah, also Mars square Mars

It is clear that when Mars in a man meets Mars in a woman there is sexual attraction and competition (very stimulating when you are working together, although there may be a differant approach and method). But Mars is also the planet of aggression and anger...

The conflict between Mars and Mars is not the only astrological conflict. There are more difficulties to overcome in this relationships. For example, his Mercury square her Saturn, that will not make communications easier. Or his Pluto inconjunct her Moon, stressing the domestic situation that she needs. Mercury opposition Uranus on the horizon of the composite chart speaks of differences in opinion.

PS
Jolie's Venus square Uranus, ruler 1 square ruler 7 and Sun sesquisquare Uranus aren't exactly signs for a 'living happily ever after'. She divorced twice!
Brad Pitt is an atractive man. He has Moon conjunct Venus; he likes women. He has Venus sesquisquare Uranus for 'adventures' related to women. And there is that unaspected Sun in 1, drawing attraction at any level. And a romantic Neptune rising before the Sun. It won't be easy to be a faithful father under those circumstances. He divorced Jennifer Aniston.

Famous couples: chart of Carla Bruni and her men

Carla Bruni is the first lady of France. She is first of all an artist and she has a strong personality. She also has 3 indications in her chart for having difficulties with long lasting relationships. See her chart:

Of course, with these aspects, she didn't marry a John Smith who wanted 4 children and a housewife. She has been spotted with Mick Jagger, for example. There is strong attraction (his Mars - her Sun/Moon), but the inconjunction between their Suns must have caused serious problems. Who's star is shining, ehm? Another lover was Eric Clapton. Her Venus is sesquisquare his Mars and that promisses passion. But it didn't last. Their Suns didn't match, but worse is that their Saturns 'collided'. Perhaps age difference was a problem. Anyway, Saturn square Saturn causes separation in the end.

Now Carla Bruni is with Nicolas Sarkozy. They seem to be able to create a modus vivendi for the fact that both draw atttention (Sun semi quintile Sun) but living together in one house might be a problem (Moon qd Moon). His Jupiter on her Ascendant tells us that he will support her. In her presence he feels great:)
This relationship really has a good chance to survice, as it seems at first site. But what is that Uranus - symbol of controversy - on the Ascendant of the combine chart doing? And why is Neptune - for romance and the possibility of desillusion - on the IC of the combine chart? Time will tell...

CONCLUSION
When there are 2 or more indications for divorce in a chart, it won't be easy to find mr. Right. Carla Bruni is sensitive (as an artist) and she has a strong personality. She will easily be disappointed in her romantic ideas about love, with Venus conjunct Neptune in Scorpio. This and her ruler 1 conjunct Pluto could mean that she may want 'all or nothing' in love. Her chart doesn't show a compromise or sitting back and dream away watching romantic movies. She has Sun square Saturn (conjunct Midheaven) and is ambitious, also about partners. Saturn rules her 7th house.

Right now transit Uranus is inconjunct her progressed Ascendant and trine natal Ascendant. Uranus is conjunct the combine chart Ascendant. This transit might activate the combine chart, like a test for the relationship. Perhaps indepence (or upheavel) is an important issue in her relationships with others right now. Rumours say that Sarkozy is impressed by another beauty -Christine Kelly - and that he wants her to become part of his government. Newspapers speak of 'competition' for Bruni.

Famous couple: Elvis and Priscilla Presley

Elvis Presley and Priscilla both have Sun trine Neptune and both have Neptune on top of their charts. Sharing Sun trine the elevated Neptune gives them a sort of a romantic view of life and of each other. He was of course her idol... But her Neptune is inconjunct his Moon and so there is the risk of a lost and no balance in the romantic needs. And did they match? No, they did not.

NO MATCH
Her Sun is in Gemini and his in Capricorn. Venus in Aries (hers) does not easily go with Venus in Capricorn. Her Mars in Aries is opposition his in Libra.

BUT:
- Her Sun is square his Moon. It is a usual Sun-Moon combination. She was the realization of his romantic needs.
- His Sun is trine her Jupiter. When she met him, her progressed Sun was square Jupiter: her life style improved, she was starting to be a success (and his progressed Venus was conjunct his Moon - he fell in love).
- His Sun is square her Mars. Her disproportionate drive to grow and make life better is linked to his life. She stimulated and activated him. His Sun and her Mars were in aspect. Her Sun is semi square Mars - a sign for possible divorce -. This relationship seems to have been 'ment to be'. Just like Sarah and Andrew they seem to have been made to divorce each other:).
- His Mars-Ascendant combination is in aspect with her Uranus and his natal Mars is biquintile his Uranus (a sign for a possible divorce). The relationship was a flaslight relationship that offered the chance for him to be a 'free man' even while married (he had to work:). She was often alone (re: Saturn in the 7th).

Often, when people with indications for possible difficulties in a partnership come together, they have found the right kind of person: the one that offers the opportunity to marry twice, to divorce or to remain alone for the rest of their lives.

PRISCILLA
Priscilla never remarried (but instead she had a long lasting relationship). She has Sun semi square Mars (one of the indications for divorce ub teg cgart if=. Saturn is in her 7th house, trine her Moon ruler 7. She married once. There have been other relationships, but she never married another man. Her Venus (in Aries) and Jupiter are 'calling' (not making major aspects) and they are a biquintile away from each other. This combination expresses a creative way to make more fun. Venus is 105 degrees from Pluto. The Venus-Jupiter-Pluto combination tells us about earning or gaining a lot of money and sympathy. Of course, Priscilla Presley started her own career after the death of Elvis. (That was on August 16, 1977 with transit Pluto trine Priscilla's progressed ASC, followed by progressed Moon opposition Saturn.)

ELVIS
Elvis had two indications for possible divorce: Venus sesquisquare Neptune and Mars-Uranus biquintile. The latter might be indicating that he was creative enough to find another way to be a 'free man'.

CONCLUSION
They didn't match, but they found each other in sharing the same dreams and romantic illusions in the beginning...She married her idol and he married his fan. It could not last for ever. It was their first marriage and both have indications for divorce and/or difficulties in marriage in their natal charts. Her Uranus on his descendant says enough: it was a flash light exiting relationship. And the batteries ran out of power.

Famous couple: John & Jacqueline Kennedy

The marriage of Jacqueline Bouvier and John F. Kennedy ended with the death of JFK. This post is about the astrological relationship of the charts of this famous couple.

Jacqueline Bouvier was born with Venus and Jupiter in Gemini. Jupiter was in the seventh house of marriage. She married twice. In an earlier post about double bodied signs and Jupiter in the 7th you will find more examples of people who married more than once. They also had Jupiter in the 7th and/or Venus in a double bodied sign. Jacqueline Bouvier has a chart that tells us that there is a great possibility of marrying more than once. And the marriage with John F. Kennedy was her first marriage...

Apart from a wide quintile of Venus with Uranus, there are no indications for divorce.

JOHN F. KENNEDY
John F. Kennedy has a chart that shows the leader.
1. The Sun does not make Ptolemaic aspects and is square ASC/MC. He was the crucial centre of attention at any possible level. More about his Astro I.D.:
2. Neptune and Pluto do not make major aspects either (for idealism and politics, discretion and ‘the silent force')
3. Saturn on top is conjunct Sun/Moon (government, management, ambition, ...possible divorce)

Indications for the way that he ended his young life are:
1. The 8th house with Sun, Venus, Jupiter (importance of danger, challenge and power)
2. Mars inconjunct Ascendant (disproportional acts or aggression)
3. Uranus inconjunct MC (unbalanced sudden changing status)
4. Saturn, ruler 4, conjunct MC (public end)
5. Saturn semi square Mars/Pluto (possible unnatural death)
6. Vulcanus semi square Mars/Pluto (possible public use of power and force)
And yes, just being a president is dangerous, too.

John F. Kennedy married only once but he had several 'relationships' while married. It is said that he hired a dozen of prostitutes once and a while. Moon square Venus in double bodied signs reflects the need for women. And Jupiter is in his 8th house (of sex) and not in the 7th (of marriage). Had he still lived and stopped being a president, he would likely have had a divorce. There are two out of four indications for a divorce: Mars is square Uranus, Venus is semi square Neptune.".

But of course, he married her, and why?
1. He shared a Mars-Pluto aspect with Jacqueline (he has the semi square, she has the sextile). His Mars is sextile her Pluto! His Mars is inconjunct his Ascendant and opposition hers. (It crosses my mind that this looks a lot like the Mars-Pluto relationship in the Holloway case, click to see that post.)

2. His Moon is exactly trine her Northern Node (for emotional relationship, taking care together)

3. in the composite chart there is Sun conjunct Moon, a strong indication for creating a family life

4. His Venus -ruler 1 - is conjunct her Sun/Moon and that is a fine end of this story. Sun/Moon is family life, heart and soul. And Venus is sympathy and love. So at a particular moment in time his love was joining her wish to have a family life.

Famous couple: Woody Allen and Mia Farrow

Mia Farrow married Frank Sinatra. I wrote about their marriage last week. About the artist in the chart of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, see Art&Astrology.

She also had a long lasting relationship with Woody Allen. They even have a child together. But it seems that they never lived in the same house. They had a living apart together- relationship. Their relationship ended in fighting each other. When there is a very tight aspect between the Mars of two persons, that is often the way the relationship ends, see the examples below. Mia Farrow's Mars is exactly conjunct the Mars of Woody Allen. They fought over the fact that he married her foster child. The intensity of this legal fight is mirrored by Mars opposition Pluto in Woody Allen's chart exactly on the meridian of Mia Farrow.

When people become partners, they often share experiences or goals and that is demonstrated by sharing aspects. (See my site Astromarkt.net for more about this...)

Mia Farrow and Woody Allen share:
- Sun-Jupiter aspects (she biquintile, he conjunction)
- Venus-Pluto aspects (she trine, he square)
- Moon-Venus aspects (she square, he trine)

They both have sense of style and art, they both want to earn a lot of money and they both are successful. Sharing this didn't make their partnership a great success, however. The Mars-Mars conjunction perhaps made a fresh and fast start in the beginning and/or sexual attraction started the affair. But the position of Neptune opposition Midheaven of the composite chart maybe says enough. Romance cannot be romance without drama. Even when their is a Sun conjunct Venus in the composite, too.

Chart of divorcing Ingrid Betancourt and Luis Elado Pérez

Now that she filed for (her second) divorce, the almost former husband of Ingrid Bétancourt accuses her of 'adultery' with a fellow hostage, Luis Elado Pérez Bonilla, born 7 December 1953 in Pasto. I wonder how, given the circumstances, but I know that Ingrid Bétancourt's (former) best friend Clara Rochas has a child with one of the FARC-members, so there was interactions between the sexes (and it were long years without television:).
Let us have an astrological look at the relationship. Apart from the possible mutual connection between Sun and Moon, they share four combinations of aspects and two of them are activated by transit or progression right now. Often shared experiences make a bound.

FOUR SHARED COMPONENTS
They shared circumstances and characteristics:

1. An important Saturn
Luis's Saturn is the first outer planet rising before the Sun. This 'oriental' Saturn reflects ambition, responsibilities and the manager (all that is related to respect, age and status). Ingrid has a 'calling' Saturn, which is a Saturn without major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. Both HAD a status as a politician. And according to the memoires of the American hostages, there was a sort of a hierarchy among the hostages that perhaps separated them from the rest.

2. Saturn-Uranus: being in prison and broken free
Ingrid has Saturn inconjunct Uranus. Luis has Sun square Saturn/Uranus. They were in prison together and there was in fact a limited choice in friends.

3. Mars-Uranus (activated today)
He has the square, she has the trine for sharing an adventure and a fight for freedom.Ingrid has Transit Mars opposition natal Uranus today. Luis has transit Uranus inconjunct Mars today. Both have an 'explosive' nature, too. BTW: there is often simple friendship when Mars-Uranus is involved in relationship (like in communities of men or fighters).

4. Mercury-Pluto (the power of the word, nervous problems, activated now)
This year she has progressed Mercury (progressed ruler 1) inconjunct Pluto (progressed ruler 5) and he has Mercury opposition Pluto in his progressed chart. In the natal chart she has Mercury trine Pluto and he has Mercury square Pluto. And his Pluto is sesquisquare her Mercury. Difficult - perhaps poliical - decissions are on their way.

SUN-MOON
Luis probably has his Moon conjunct the Sun of Ingrid and her Moon is trine his Sun (they were attracted to each other or felt at ease with each other)

SECOND DIVORCE
It is not the first broken marriage of Bétancourt. Sun conjunct Mars and ruler 1 (Venus) 105 degrees from Pluto (ruler 7) + Neptune on the Descendant are signs of a possible not long lasting marriage. As Ingrid's Uranus is square Perez's Venus I wonder if THIS relationship will be everlasting love. This also because her progressed Sun will be inconjunct his Uranus (and his Uranus is square his Mars) within a year from now.

PLUTO TRANSIT
It is not easy to be a saint or an angle when you are a living person. And it is even more difficult with transit Pluto conjunct Sun (when you live the intense way). Her Pluto is disposing of the 7th house of marriage, so that the problem that comes to the light with Pluto on the Sun is a relational problem.

ROMANCE
Also transit Neptune is conjunct her progressed Venus and Venus-Neptune is the combination for love affairs. Today transit Venus is conjunct progressed Neptune as well, to make it is difficult day with a romantic issue.
