Sunny Saturn? Rarely (#Michael Glifford, #Sofia Hellqvist, #Princess Cristina)
Michael Glifford plays the guitar in the band '5 Seconds of Summer'. He got too close to fire works and burned his head (see the news ). Mars is the planet of fire. The incident happened on a day with transit Sun square his Mars, Mars square his Mars (too) and transit Chiron square Mars in a year of progressed Sun square Saturn. Those aren't the sunny kind of years. If you want to check it: Michael Glifford was born November 20, 1995 in Sydney.
There are few sunny Saturns.
That is why it doesn't look so good that the Saturn of Sofia Hellqvist is square the natal Sun of Prince Carl Philip, as it means that there are barriers and limitations and restrictions regarding their relationship. She became a Duchess when she married, yesterday. That was the day that Spanish princess Cristina was a Duchess-no-more. Her brother, the king, took her title from her with transit Saturn square progressed Mercury (symbol of brother). They are probably friends no longer... She has to face the judge again because she is suspected of fraud, together with her husband. That started with transit Saturn inconjunct her Midheaven (read it here: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/05/saturn-inconjunct-midheaven-and-lost.html ) which is the equivalent of falling off your pedestal, even though the inconjunct is considered a minor aspect (and some astrologers don't consider the aspect at all).
Back to Sofia Hellqvist and Saturn. There is a minor**) Sun-Saturn aspect in her chart (157.5 degrees), so that she fits in the list of royal spouses with Sun-Saturn aspects in an earlier post. Now she marries the man whose Sun is in hard aspect with her Saturn. She did it with progressed Sun conjunct Jupiter (success) and Venus sextile Neptune in the progressed chart (romance). Here is the chart of her husband with (in transit) the positions on the day of birth of Sofia.
I'm not planning a complete analysis of their synastry or their charts. It is just that Saturn-Sun aspect that caught my attention. Saturn has rings. It seems to have been hard to put the ring on Sofia's finger yesterday. Maybe that was just all:).

When to celebrate your progressed birthday
When the sun is conjunct your sun, it is your astrological birthday. (Your birthday may be on the same day or a bit sooner or later). YOU (Sun) are in the centre of attention (Sun) on your birthday. You are starting a new cycle in life that will begin again next year.
Since a few years, I noticed that when the sun is conjunct my progressed sun, I happened to be celebrating something. It uses to be a nice day. Perhaps that is the same with you? Anyway, now that I know, I do something special on my progressed birthday. Let me explain.
WHY
Why not? It is a reason for celebrating life!
WHAT
Progressed birthday is the day that the sun is exactly conjunct your progressed sun. That is the position of your sun in secondary progression, in the progressed chart. Here is a simple way to find your progressed birthday.
WHEN? (EASY WAY)
You can easily find the progressed birthday like this:
a. start with your birthday
b. add the number of your years in the calendar
c. now you have found your progressed birthday
EXAMPLE
Say: you were born on December 1 and 21 years old, than your progressed sun has the degree of the 22nd of December and your progressed birthday is on the 22nd of December.
Mine is today, at almost midnight.
PROGRESSED SOLAR RETURN CHART
I calculated the chart for the exact moment. That is the moment when the sun is exactly at the same degree and minute as my progressed sun is now. It is a sort of a progressed solar return chart that immediately gives information on the transits with your progressed sun. As you may see, transit Saturn will be square my progressed sun in early November 2014. On March 24 transit Mars will trine my progressed sun again (last time was February 4). The progressed solar return chart is the chart of a mere moment in time. I doubt it there is a special meaning that will last longer than my 'progressed birth day'. The solar return chart is believed to have a meaning for the 'trend' of the year ahead. The difference between a progressed solar return chart and the solar return chart is, that your natal sun has a fixed position and the progressed sun has not. The progressed sun moves about 1 degree each year, so that the progressed solar return doesn't last as long as the solar return does. But let's see… I'll keep this chart in mind.
Now, it will be rather difficult to start a party at midnight in the middle of the week, but maybe I'll light a candle to celebrate my progressed birthday. And have that piece of pie the next morning!:)
PROGRESSED CHART
The progressed chart is calculated for the xth day after your xth year. There is a symbolic relationship between the movement of the earth's axis and the earth's orbit around the sun. In a day and in a year you see the whole of the universe. The progressed chart (movement in one day) gives a view of the year ahead. That is (simplified) the general idea.

Transit Saturn opposition Chiron trine Midheaven
Last night someone I know heard a scream,
saw a man lying on the ground in her street and ran down the stairs in a hurry. That was a. because
she is a nurse and wanted to help; b. because she is a Moon Aries square Mars
and needed to do something about it:). She looked at the man and noticed that he was bleeding but
before she could have a better look, the police already arrived. Then she heard that the man
had been robbed when he delivered food. He had been shot in the chest for a
bit of money! Here is the story in Dutch (maybe you can translate it but pictures speak for themselves). The (probable)
shooter was arrested.
What does a chart say when someone is
suddenly confronted with a crime scene right in front of the house? A lot! The
incident was nasty but she did the best she could. That is satisfying and that
is also being reflected by transits and progressions of Saturn, Pluto, Node,
Chiron and Jupiter. There is a full list for those who continue. But I am
particularly interested in transit Saturn opposition Chiron, because this
transit is 'generational' (shared by a large number of people) and yet descriptive for the situation: the
disadvantages (Saturn) of curing and healing (Chiron) others (opposition). Generational transits have a personal effect when one of the two positions involved are of importance in the natal (or progressed) chart. Well, Chiron is prominent in her chart as he rises right before her natal
Sun and Chiron is exactly trine her Midheaven. Perhaps that is the key to her professional
activities!

Lunar effect, Pholus synastry and Chiron-Ascendant
Scientists have studied the effect of the full moon and they found that there were less births in the weekends:). The old belief that there are more children born when the moon is full, has been proven wrong. In our days, children are born between 9 and 5 from Monday to Friday, if the doctors had it their way. It is more convenient and it can be done without harming the mother or the child, so why not. But now I will never know if there would be a natural tendency for more births at Full Moon (not all, just some more). Maybe it is not so, not even in the middle of the jungle without electricity or doctors.
There is no lunar effect for births and no more murders with full moon...Another myth gone...(but how about wolves, uh?)...Native Americans named the full moon in January 'Wolf moon' because the wolves howled (of hunger). But not in February, I wonder? Questions, questions...
PHOLUS SYNASTRY CASE
Someone asked me about Pholus - Sun in synastry. The question was: who has the Pholus 'effect' on who when one person's Pholus is conjunct the Sun of the other person.
On Astromarkt I wrote about that:
My late sister's Sun was square my Pholus. What does it mean? She was too close to tell you this. There is no 'helicopter view', especially because she died age 49 and thinking about her still hurts. But I know that it means that on and around the day of her birth the Sun was square my Pholus and that was so every one of her birthdays. I was almost 3 years old and I think that it was quite a surpise for me, having a sister. A sudden 'freed' bubble?:)
Last solar transit (you know, the daily motion of the Sun) conjunct my Pholus: that was the day that I died my hair (red). Transit Pholus will be on my Midheaven soon enough to tell you all about what popped out of the bottle (or not). There is less popping out of the pen (or keyboard) lately. Sorry for that (and I think it will be better when Saturn moved to Scorpio). If you want more Astropost, then follow Astropost on Twitter for short messages that might interest you.
CHIRON-ASCENDANT
Speaking of effect: 70% of the answers in the poll about Chiron conjunct Ascendant showed an effect of this transit. 30% not. Is that proof?:) Thank you for giving your answer!

Who cares about the position of the moon, anyway, these days?
I remember that I was on the road at night. I parked and watched a partial lunar eclipse (a cloud hanging before the moon) and I noticed that nobody noticed. They were eating, drinking, checking tires, walking dogs, going to the toilets...but nobody was staring at the sky or pointing at the moon to tell their children about it. They didn't know or didn't care. I notice the full moon when I can't sleep at night, in spite of curtains, and I know of more people who 'notice' but maybe I and those people are wiped out immediately when it comes to statistics, who knows? Time for a poll! There is no lunar effect for births and no more murders with full moon...Another myth gone...(but how about wolves, uh?)...Native Americans named the full moon in January 'Wolf moon' because the wolves howled (of hunger). A doggy story
The natal
positions, transits and progressions of dogs are just as much in line with
‘what happens’ as those of human beings. Today our ‘family dog’ underwent
surgery, a spleenectomy. She is the oldest living dog of her race in the
country and that is why it was difficult to decide what to do. But it was her
lucky day (transit Sun trine her Jupiter; she will have a new basket soon as
she gets home), the tumors have been removed (transit Pluto - sic- trine Progressed
Sun) and now she may recover. However (see the chart) there is an awful lot of
Saturn to remind her of her age.
First she had
Progressed Sun conjunct Saturn and Mars on her Sun during an infection. She had
transit Saturn opposition natal Sun and conjunct natal Pholus. That doesn’t
‘sound’ like an easy period in life. Still she manages to be cheerful. At the
moment she is still asleep…

Double or nothing?
When there is a transit or progression or a synastry between the same planets, lights or angles as in the natal chart, do they have more significance than those aspect combinations that are not like in the natal chart? I mean, for example, when transit Jupiter is trine your Sun, does it have more effect when you have Sun square Jupiter in the natal than when there is no natal Sun-Jupiter? I am sharing my thoughts and give some examples,
There are a number of posts on this blog about the strenght of repeated patterns or aspects (in the natal and in transit or progression). I have mentioned some under 'Links'. As a matter of facts, I have experienced such repeated patterns myself and I can tell you that transits or progressions connecting the same planets/objects as in the natal chart, look stronger than other transits or progressions. Why?
When you have, for example, Sun trine Jupiter in the natal chart, transits of Jupiter will sound harder than in the lives of those who don't have a sun-jupiter natal aspect. And vice versa. It is (astro)logical. Maybe there is a psychological explanation, for example that when you are a positive person with confidence you will likely benefit more when an opportunity is at hand, than when you are less wired for luck. But I can't always find them. Sometimes it is just more like a response to a certain sensitivity, just like seeing an overload of babies when you are pregnant or when you notice your new car on every road. An explanation is not required, of course, when you simply point at some maybe coincidental correspondes. So I continue...
Sun-Jupiter and Sun-Neptune
The 'vice versa' example (no effect) is: the President of the USA, Barack Obama. The polls are strongly against him and it seems to be hard for him to be successful, in spite of the fact that Progressed (or Solar Arc) Sun has been trine Jupiter 6 weeks ago. The transit of Neptune inconjunct Progressed Sun of the past and coming months resonate the Sun-Neptune aspect in the natal chart and the effect is visible: he is the ' fallen angel', the idol who is no longer a hit. How can that happen with a SA Sun trine Jupiter? I think that it is, because the Sun-Neptune effect is stronger (double effect, natal and transit) than the Sun-Jupiter effect (only that one Progressed trine...). Here is the chart:
But of course, there are more examples.
1. My personal example is also Sun-Neptune, tightly sextile in my natal. In my idea, sextiles are the symbols of the easy ways out. I had them! I had P Sun square Neptune and Transit Neptune conjunct Sun when I started wasting time on astrology;). I also experienced Progressed Sun trine Neptune. The conjunction and square were nasty and depressing. I lived in a place where I didn't want to be at all. The trine, however, was in the middle of a rather pleasant period. This aspect was when I started rather Neptune-like blogs (Art&Astrology and Astrology-love-romance) and Neptunic activities like doing a cruise. Maybe Neptune is the less 'active' symbol of them all and maybe Neptune (softly!) opens your eyes for the softer side of life (including imagination, religion, art, romance, dreaming away etcetera). After such a soft example, a harder one is needed....
2 Sun-Pluto
I have Sun tightly trine Pluto in the 6th house. With transit Pluto conjunct my Sun I was confronted with a life threatening illness and a nasty remedy, but at least I survived. I asked about the experiences of someone born on my birthday (but in another year) who also had transit Pluto conjunct Sun (but no aspect in the natal). Nothing happened.
3. A Sun-Saturn example
I have the d.o.b. of an authority with natal Sun inconjunct Saturn and today transit Saturn square Progressed Sun. She had to resign after accusations of abuse of power and lack of integrity. People reacted furiously. The windows have been smashed, her family threatened and for a few years she will not be employed, I guess. She blamed the buro of investigation and they want her to appear before the judge because of that.
That is the hard confrontation, that is Saturn. It looks like the square activating the inconjunction.
4. More Sun-Saturn
http://astropost.blogspot.com/ 2011/07/anders-behring- breivik-and-his-day-of.html
Breivik' Sun-Saturn in the natal chart is corresponding with Sun-Saturn progressions and transits on the day of the killings in Norway:

The charts in the case of the missing Natalee Holloway have a lot of double Mars-Pluto's. There was a lot of interaction with Mars and Pluto in their charts and there were transits between Mars and Pluto on that tragic day.
1. On the day that Natalee Holloway vanished Joran van der Sloot had transit Mars sesquisquare Pluto!
2. Natalee Holloway’s Pluto Mars is afflicting Pluto and square Joran’s Pluto.
3. When she disappeared Natalee had transit Mars semi square Mars and sesquisquare Pluto, activating the dangerous Mars-Pluto connection in her natal chart. - Joran had Pluto conjunct Uranus that day and sesquisquare Venus. He also had T Mars sesquisquare Pluto

One of those days with Uranus
Early this morning the Sun was exactly conjunct my natal Uranus. Last year I accidently dropped my car key between the console and the seat, but I didn't know and couldn't see it because of the colour. This year Uranus surprised me with a complete packet of inconvenience. First, yesterday, I managed to destroy the video card of my MacBook, simply by cleaning the screen too hard. This morning I couldn't find my car key (not surprising when you know that my husband had put it on a table and later dropped some papers on the same spot). It took me 15 desperate minutes, but there I went. I pushed the button to open the car door and instead the alarm went off. Hello, neighbours, did I wake you? When I finally drove off, I noticed that my navigation system changed language (how!?) but this time I smiled (I know that language). In the office a surprise again: it is a hectic day with schedules changing because of ill people. But because of the alarming start of this morning, I have enough adrenaline to deal with it.

Hooray , hurrah for the progressed birthday
Did you ever celebrate your progressed birthday? That is the day when transit Sun is conjunct your progressed Sun (a solar transit with Progressed Sun). You see, your birthday is when the transit Sun is conjunct your natal Sun (usually on or around your official birthday). Add the number of birthdays that you already celebrated (your age) to that day and you found your progressed birthday.
I discovered that day when I was having a very nice brunch with family members, just because I liked to celebrate 'life' with them. When I calculated transits and progressions I noticed that transit Sun was on my progressed Sun: the progressed birthday! It is an especially pleasant party time when Venus and Jupiter join in!
So if you are looking for a good reason to 'party', find out more about your progressed birthday. It is within 0-100 days after your birthday.

Transits (the summary)
![]() |

Transit Uranus was one of the transits in the month of the transits on Astromarkt. If you want to know more, use the label Transits (or just click here). But in short:
Transit Sun = a day for...spotlight on...(tension, with Uranus)
http://astropost.blogspot.com/2011/02/what-is-transit-and-what-is-solar.html (also explaining transits)
Transit Mercury = talking about...(your nex trip?, with Jupiter)
Transits of Mercury are like quicksilver, so I forgot about them soon after they crossed my mind.
That is why I link to CafeAstrology's 'Mercury Transits'.

Daily transits of Midheaven and Ascendant
This post is about the daily motion of the angles of the chart, the transits of Ascendant and Midheaven. Another story about the daily motion is the article about Solar Transits (the daily motion of the Sun) on my site Astromarkt. For example, when the Sun is in the same degree as your natal Sun it is Sun conjunct Sun-day and …your birthday. There will be a spotlight (Sun) on YOU. Fortunately it is almost my Sun-Jupiter day!*)
The planets, Sun and Moon move and keep moving every day. So is the position of the Ascendant and Midheaven. The earth is moving around the axis and that is what makes the world go around. The Ascendant and Midheaven pass trough the astrological zodiac and are in aspect with your natal and progressed positions all day long. The Moon is also a fast mover, but nothing beats the movement of the Ascendant and Midheaven!
It happened to me that I had an accident (without injuries) when the Ascendant of the moment of the accident was exactly conjunct my natal Mars. Of course, that happens all the time and every day! There were other indications for accidents, but this one was exact. This sort of thing makes me aware of the ‘bad moments’ on a day. We have such moments when we drop things, forget about something or loose our patience, or enjoy a view. Nothing special, but still.
One of the best examples of the effect of the movement of Ascendant and Midheaven is giving birth. The Ascendant and/or Midheaven and/or the Moon is very often in aspect with the natal positions of the mother and father. Understandably Mars (pain, cuts) and Saturn (fear, hard labour) but also Venus (joy) and Jupiter (happiness) accompany the moment of birth (the moment that is indicated by the Ascendant and Midheaven or the midpoint of Ascendant and Midheaven. The Ascendant is the Eastern side of the horizon, Midheaven is the ‘sky above’ at the exact place of the event or birth at the exact moment of it! So don’t worry if your mother’s Saturn is on your Ascendant and ask her how it was and what happened at the moment that you were born. Perhaps she suddenly felt tired?

| What sort of time is it? The daily transits show it. |
It seems that when Midheaven changes sign there is more activity around you. For example: people at the door, people on the phone… I don’t have enough time to watch the transit of Midheaven all day long and in fact, nobody has...So can anybody please make an app for that so that we can have a quick look at the positions of Midheaven and Ascendant IF anything happens? BTW somebody fell real hard with transit Midheaven exactly square her natal Saturn. But that might just be coincidence...

Chart of Steve Jobs and the Apple (I-phone) press conference
Today is the press conference of Apple, following the critism about the Apple I-phone 4. Here you see the chart of the conference. The Midheaven is semi square the natal Uranus of Steve Jobs, CEO and co-founder. Uranus is the symbol of nerves and news. But there is more...Transit Saturn is inconjunct his natal Mars and progressed Mercury. This is a combination for a bad news acitvity, mind breaking jobs and headaches*).. Next transit will be Saturn inconjunct his progressed Sun. It means hard times for Jobs. Three times inconjunct Saturn is a lot.
Here are the charts, links to more about Steve Jobs and more about the mentioned aspects and transits.

Paul Gascoigne's accident
This post is about Paul Gascoigne's natal positions, transits and progressions during the accident of June 13, about accidents in general and about the daily motion of the Sun (the solar transits). Some days are just more 'risky' than other days are. Transit Sun in hard aspect with Uranus is one of those days. Gascoigne had T Sun square Progressed Uranus on July 13.
On July 13 there was a car accident and Paul Gascoigne was one of the passengers. The driver (a woman) has been accused of driving under the influence of alcohol. Next July 28 'G8' will have to face the judge for a similar accusation. In February he was arrested for drink-driving. (See the news here...)
There is no hour of birth for Gascoigne's chart. The observations ar just observations of the positions for Gascoigne and time twins. They are not the complete astrological picture, because there is no known Ascendant (symbol of the situation) or Midheaven (symbol of the conditions). The Ascendant is very important in cases of accidents.
ACCIDENTS
It takes more than 3 indications at the time to reflect serious incidents and accidents. Almost always the Ascendant, Mars and Uranus are part of the picture. I noticed that Saturn-Pluto-Ascendant midpoint combinations are related to the traffic accidents described in the famous book of C.E.O. Carter. See the label 'accidents' for more info or go to Astromarkt.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Check the Sun's daily motion trough the zodiac and see how the transits of the Sun make aspects with your natal or progressed chart positions. These transits contribute to a general picture of 'what sort of a day it was'. In this case, the square between transit Sun and progressed Uranus pointed at upheaval, incidents and accidents, nerves, being in a hurry and unpleasant surprises or...accidents. On Astromarkt I wrote this about the transit Sun in hard aspect with Uranus:
Sun with Uranus:
Transits of the Sun with Uranus happen a few times each year, reflecting 'those kind of days'. They usually don't point at a serious accident, unless there are 3 or more serious indications in the chart and in the transits and progressions. 1. Natal chart
. Sun 105 Uranus
. Afflicted Mercury
. Saturn semi square Pholus
. Mars in a wide opposition with Saturn
2. Progressions and transits
. Progressed Sun square Lillith
. Progressed inconjunction of Neptune and Lillith
. Progressed Sun also conjunct Progressed Mercury (the symbol of communications and transportation)
. Transit Node square Eris
. Transit Jupiter and Uranus trine the 'calling' Jupiter (for the 'international' and for 'travelling')
A Jupiter/Uranus combination adds relief to every situation (in whatever way).
. Progressed Saturn conjunct progressed Eris
. On the day of the accident the transit Sun was exactly inconjunct Progressed Neptune and square progressed Uranus. The combination of Uranus and Neptune often indicates lost of consciousness (fainting).

Winter Games: Gold for Sven Kramer
Speed skater Sven Kramer won the Gold Medal yesterday (Winter Games, 5000 meter in 6.14,60). It was the only medal missing in his cupboard:) Sven Kramer is a real champion, the son of skating talents, well trained and skilled. And he also had perfect transits reflecting 'winning' yesterday. It was a day for success and it was a prosperous moment for winning. That and the fact that Sven Kramer is one of the world's greatest speed skaters already, helped him to reach the number one position. The transits were:
a. Transit Sun of February 13 semi square his natal Jupiter/Pluto (midpoint of success) and
b. Transit Jupiter was exactly trine natal Pluto (helping him to win or – if you wish – reflecting the happy winner).*)
And of course the second one is the most important transit.
BORN SKATER
He was born April 23, 1986 in Heerenveen, sun of a skating talent (Yep Kramer, born November 15, 1957). He and his father share:
- An important Jupiter (for travelling, the international and for positivism and confidence leading to success). Sven has Jupiter rising before the Sun; father Yep has a 'calling' Jupiter (without major aspects within 5 degrees).
- Sun in minor and major aspect with Pluto and Saturn (a combination that is useful in the charts of individual sportsmen who have to be concentrated). Sven has Sun opposition Pluto and biquintile Saturn; Yep has Sun half semi square Saturn and binovile Pluto). For more examples of Saturn and Pluto's effect in sport, see this link...Together, father and son share their success and a ‘die hard’ constitution (ignoring pain, consistency when it becomes difficult). Here is the chart of his day of birth at noon (no hob available) with transits and progressions.

3x Saturn in the chart of Ted Kennedy: collapse

3 Times Saturn in the chart of Edward (Ted) Kennedy, reflecting the collapse of yesterday around 14:35 during lunch at Inauguration Day:
1. In the progressed chart Saturn is square ASC (Prg Saturn square prg ASC)
2. Transit Saturn was semi square his natal Midheaven
3. It happened on a Sun-transit-Saturn day
Transit Saturn rules the natal Ascendant (=situation) of Edward Kennedy. Transit Saturn ruled the 8th house of the moment of collapse (with Uranus elevated for the consternation). Saturn is 'calling' (prominent) in the natal chart. That means that Saturn does not make Ptolemaic aspects in orb 5 degrees or in sign.
There are more posts about the senator's condition:
About finding the malignant brain tumor
About the former collapse in May.
Notice that in this post I mention Saturn, too:
"13/14 October 2007 Edward Kennedy had transit Saturn inconjunct Uranus (now sesquisquare). In October 2007 he had surgery to end a blockade..."
These days he has transit Saturn inconjunct progressed Uranus.
Ted Kennedy is expected to leave the hospital today. Above is the progressed chart of Ted Kennedy. Below is the chart of the moment of collapse with the natal positions of Kennedy on the outer side of the circle.
