The final solar return of Ted Bundy

Recently I wrote about the chart of serial killer Ted Bundy and I also wrote about solar returns. Solar returns are  the charts drawn for the exact moment of your birthday. Searching for 'dramatic' solar returns, I tried the birthday chart of Ted Bundy, valid for the year of his execution, to see if the solar return chart reflected what was to follow... It turned out to be a dramatic solar return, indeed!

Here it is:

The Yod, pointing at the 8th house Jupiter, opposition the Sun seems to illustrate that matters of life and death (8th house) would soon be 'trending topics'. The solar return chart of his birthday on November 24, 1988 has:

- 3 (!) inconjunctions with Jupiter in the 8th house of life and death.
The quincunx or inconjunct aspect is the aspect of 150 degrees. This aspect means: losing balance or loss, out of plumb.

- These 3 inconjunctions create a double Yod (Venus-Saturn, Venus-Uranus and apex Jupiter) pointing at the 8th house of death! Venus is the ruler of the 8th house, Saturn of the 4th. Uranus happens to be the symbol of electricity.

- There is also a tight opposition between Sun and Jupiter in the 8th house.

In his situation in death row there was a serious indication of issues of life and death in the year to come, signaled on his birthday. Three inconjunctions (loss) pointing at the 8th house of dramatic change could hardly mean anything else but 'definite transformation'=death, in this situation.

There were of course transits and progressions enough to confirm the message of the solar return...

Transit Saturn opposition Chiron trine Midheaven

Last night someone I know heard a scream, saw a man lying on the ground in her street and ran down the stairs in a hurry. That was a. because she is a nurse and wanted to help; b. because she is a Moon Aries square Mars and needed to do something about it:). She looked at the man and noticed that he was bleeding but before she could have a better look, the police already arrived. Then she heard that the man had been robbed when he delivered food. He had been shot in the chest for a bit of money! Here is the story in Dutch (maybe you can translate it but pictures speak for themselves). The (probable) shooter was arrested.

What does a chart say when someone is suddenly confronted with a crime scene right in front of the house? A lot! The incident was nasty but she did the best she could. That is satisfying and that is also being reflected by transits and progressions of Saturn, Pluto, Node, Chiron and Jupiter. There is a full list for those who continue. But I am particularly interested in transit Saturn opposition Chiron, because this transit is 'generational' (shared by a large number of people) and yet descriptive for the situation: the disadvantages (Saturn) of curing and healing (Chiron) others (opposition). Generational transits have a personal effect when one of the two positions involved are of importance in the natal (or progressed) chart. Well, Chiron is prominent in her chart as he rises right before her natal Sun and  Chiron is exactly trine her Midheaven. Perhaps that is the key to her professional activities!

Transit Saturn: priority time

Recently I saw the effect of transit Saturn opposition progressed Sun in the chart of someone that I know. She is over 80 years old, now that this transit mirrors the end of a period in life and the disadvantages of growing old.  Fysical problems start creating barriers. This woman has always been healthy and wanted to travel again. There will be restrictions from now on and she doesn’t like them (of course). Her age doesn’t help and she sees it. Perhaps this will be the last time, the last big journey...

HOW ABOUT YOU?
Transit Saturn in conflict with (Progressed) Sun happens more than once in life. The effect will be felt more when you are old or poor and when you have a Sun-Saturn aspect in the natal chart. It is often difficult to keep up standards and to keep respecting yourself when there is full view of your disabilities, mistakes and faults. The transit might last and be felt longer when Saturn is retrograding and coming back a few times.

PRIORITY
Is there a positive side on Saturn? Perhaps this: when you learn to deal with your own definciencies and while learning how to control life and life style living with your handicaps, with schedules or deadlines, you may find a way to a more efficient and wise use of your (and others’ ) time on earth. The race againt time and restrictions can’t be won, perhaps, but you see priorities now. The big question is: how to spend time the most economic way…This is me, having a Saturn return today:)!

The Pholus of John J. Sheehan

With Pholus in the air it seems to be easy sometimes to shoot in your own foot, like Pholus did...
Pholus' name looks a bit like phallus. I read somewhere that Pholus works like a strong shot of Pluto. Perhaps that is why this is the second example of sex as the catalyst of a lot of fuss. The first one was John Terry's transit Pholus conjunct natal Sun. John Terry's Pholus transit highlighted his personal sex life. Former general John Sheehan's Venus opposition Pholus was triggered by a Pholus transit(not a conjunction) yesterday. He spoke of the sex life of others. Opposition often deal with 'others' and their effect on you.

Former general John J. Sheehan (with Sun conjunct Mars, Pluto rising before Sun and Venus and Mars semi-sextile Pluto) is a real macho and has his preferences. He is strongly against homosexuals in the army. And he bases that on experience, he said. He attributes the fall of Sebrenica to homosexuals in the Dutch army. Yesterday he told the Senate Armed Services Comity that ‘the Dutch’ also told him so and named one “Hankman Berman" as his source. The former chief of staff Henk van Breemen, denies to have said so. You can see Sheehan and what he said on this video:

Now: was this Pholus (again)? Yes indeed.

Pholus has a prominent position on the day of birth of Sheehan: all alone against all others
…and in strong opposition with the planet of love and preferences: Venus!

Right now transit Pholus is making aspects with 4 positions in his natal chart.
Transit Pholus is now in the 16th degree of Sagittarius (15+) and that is inconjunct the natal Pholus and progressed Pholus and …transit Pholus is the Apex of a Yod with the radix Venus and the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of Sheehan. In the natal chart of Sheehan Pholus is sesquisquare the Sun, opposition Venus and trine Jupiter and Saturn within less than 1 degree orb. So this transit of Pholus hits the Sun (105d), too.

There is an interesting page on Wikipedia dedicated to Pholus (click here). And click the label to see more posts and links about Pholus. Up to now Pholus has been linked to:
- the small start of a major event (like the butterfly and the huricane)
- a turning point (like the first domino stone in a range)
- a situation involving three generations at the time (grandparents, parents, children)
- curing addictions
- something happens that you can't get a hold on and that is escalating (like the first stone in a revolution)
- the catalyst (something that triggers a lot of events)\
I like to add another one, referring to the myth: to shoot yourself in the foot! Sounds good in the military...

As you can see here Pholus is very very small and orbs should be taken equally small.

BTW The (Christian) Dutch Minister of Defense Van Middelkoop said that Sheehan’s words were disgraceful and unworthy of a general. Sheehan said more about homosexuals. For background info, see the article in Army Times

Collaps of Dutch government

The Labour party members of the Dutch government stepped back last night and now there is no government in The Netherlands any more. CNN tells the story short and efficient: there was a major conflict about the troops in Afghanistan and that was the XXth disagreement. It was a television marathon (from drama to slapstick and back). There will be new elections within 3 months.

There are three charts that I like to show you. The chart of the day that this government started, the chart of vice PM Bos (who initiated the fall) and the chart of PM Balkenende (in an earlier post about him being 'a lame duck' with transit Saturn inconjunct his MC when he failed to become the first European President). Transit Saturn is now exactly inconjunct the natal Sun of the government and opposition the Midheaven of Wouter Bos, who has Sun inconjunct Saturn in his natal chart.

CHART OF THE GOVERNMENT
The chart above is the chart of the day that this government started (Monday it would have been 3 years ago). With the knowledge of today (a phrase used a lot in the Iraq discussion:): see the amount of sextiles and trines for the easy way out...! The next government will have to deal with a 35 billion reduction of expenses (or with more taxes) and many other problems that this government failed to solve.

CHART OF WOUTER BOS (Labour Vice PM)
The chart below is that of the Labour vice PM, Wouter Bos, who was the leading figure in the final drama of this coalition.

SATURN
Saturn is the symbol of stepping back, falling down and administrations. Dutch PM Balkenende had his part of Saturn last October, when he didn't become the President of Europe and turned into a lame duck wduring the inconjunction of Saturn. Later there was the report about the political support for the invasion in Iraq. I qoute myself:
There are more transits and progressions, like transit Uranus conjunct Progressed Moon on the Descendant, for a sudden experience and a moment of upheaval. Transit Jupiter inconjunct natal Uranus mirrors a certain relief, but...(there is always 'but' with an inconjunction) with a lot of upeavel.
On March 3 (local elections), transit Uranus will again be conjunct Progressed Moon. The polls are predicting bad results for the members of the present coalition, especially for Labour, but also for the Christian Democrats of Balkenende, who is been named a lame duck after the transit of Saturn inconjunct Midheaven (when he didn't become the first president of Europe). More about that in an earlier post....
The Davids report seems to have a bad effect for British Labour, too. Mr. Gordon Brown’s progressed Sun sign is changing, and in March 2010 transit Saturn will be inconjunct his Midheaven (right after transit Pluto on Midheaven in February).

Floyd Landis and the negative positive Jupiter

Jupiter is the symbol of 'positive' influences. But some people, with Jupiter at hand, are being found positive in doping cases! That is what happened to cyclist Bernard Kohl, athlete Marion Jones, cyclist Rasmusssen, cyclist Beltran and cyclist Floyd Landis. They all had a Sun-Jupiter aspect (minor or major), just like Floyd Landis has. There are links to the posts about them (scroll down).

ARREST WARRANT
Today Floyd Landis is in the news with Uranus trine and Neptune square the progressed Sun. There is an international arrest warrant for him, for data hacking. Here is the chart (no hour of birth) with a tight Saturn square Uranus, the combination of restricted freedom. This arrest warrant will surely limit his freedom... In my files (click to see them) I found this about Floyd Landis, before:
“His Sun opposition Jupiter says that he wants success and it IS a success aspect, but in some cases the opposition might work out as not being honest”
I like to add that an opposition is often related to 'the other side of' (in this case: success).

WHY JUPITER?
Jupiter is the symbol of support, confidence, coaches, doctors, advisors and coaches. Jupiter symbolizes growth, progress and everything that 'helps you on the way' (horses, cars, and sponsors). A conflict with Jupiter makes it difficult to be happy as you are. In some cases it leads to wanting to be prosperous no matter how.

MORE EXAMPLES:
Marion Jones, born October 12, 1975 in Los Angeles: Sun opposition Jupiter. This is the second tight aspect in her chart. It is the same affliction as in the charts of Floyd Landis and Rasmussen (bikers, who did not exactly follow the rules as well). It says that they want to succeed no matter how, and that it might be a success with question marks...

Rasmussen: Sun square Jupiter and opposition Neptune
Beltran: Sun opposition Jupiter

Of course there are more indications leading to the events (as you can see in the posts about the persons involved), but I think that it is amazing that in 5 cases of doping, there was a tight conflict with Jupiter.
Jupiter can be positive in a negative sense, too...

Death of survivor Tsutomo Yamaguchi

Tsutomo Yamaguchi died. He survived the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings on August 6 and August 9, 1945 and lived to be 93, just long enough to see his name added on the official list of those who survived 2 atomic bombs. He was born on March 16, 1916, probably in Nagasaki.

From the progressions and transits on the day of the bombing of Hiroshima we get the picture of a 'lucky' man in extreme danger, in a period of limitations and restrictions. And of a person who has to shape his world all over again. It is the translation of Sun-Jupiter, Pluto with Sun-Mars-Saturn and Saturn-Uranus. And of Quaoar.

QUAOAR
There is an important role for Quaoar in the natal chart, too. Quaoar was at 25d42m Leo at birth. That is inconjunct Sun. Imagine: it means the creation of a whole new way of living, related to lost and misbalance as a consequence of that! Besides the inconjunction with the Sun, Quaoar doesn't make any other aspects. That makes the symbol of Quaoar very important.

JUPITER's TRANSIT AND THE ORIENTAL URANUS
His natal Sun is positioned between in the 26th degree of Pisces and transit Jupiter was at 26.3 degrees Virgo (opposition Sun) in August 1945, reflecting a matter of luck and positivism with quotation marks (opposition). After all: he survived, but many of his fellow citizens and family members died or were hurt, just like he was and they suffered for a long long time, just like he did. The positive thing is that he survived, twice.

PLUTO
Pluto, the symbol of politics, life and death and danger, makes aspects with Sun, Mars and Saturn. That is creating the combination of deadly danger. There is a conjunction of transit Pluto and Mars (a combination that refers to use of violence, self defence). Transit Pluto is sesquisquare natal Sun and 105 degrees from the progressed Sun (that is mirroring 'life in danger' and 'challenges/stress'). Transit Pluto is semi sextile natal Saturn. Saturn-Pluto is the aspect combination of the 'die hard' (see Astromark for more).

SATURN
Transit Saturn is inconjunct Uranus, the planet that rises before his Sun (often a sign of 'being exceptional' like in the charts of those who became very very old). The Saturn-Uranus combination is the combination of limited freedom, restrictions and 'breaking free'.

NATAL CHART
There is no known birth hour (as far as I could see on the web) and that is a pity. Now we don't know where the lights and planets were in the circle of the chart (and in the sky above). Without an hour of birth there is vital information missing. With these limitations, there is still something to see that is corresponding with some of what we know about Tsutomo Yamaguchi.

1. He is a well known person because of his survival (he was the last person alive, who survived two atomic bombs). 2. It took the officials until the year of his death to start believing that he really had been in Nagasaki AND in Hiroshima when the bombs fell.

For this we see:

1. Sun is 'calling' (no Ptolemaic aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees). People with a not aspected Sun tend to draw attention, take the lead or be a 'star' somehow.
2. Mercury inconjunct Neptune. For some reason it is often hard to believe a person with Mercury inconjunct Neptune. They are often suspected of misunderstood. In this case, Neptune is retrograding! It took all of his life to make the inconjunction exact in progression.

JUPITER AGAIN...
The survivor recently had transit Jupiter trine Sun. It is not uncommon to see Jupiter in the charts when people are dying. Jupiter is the personification of assistance, the doctor, good advice etc. But in this case he had a sort of a lucky star in the final year of his life. The officials added his name on the list of persons who survived 2 atomic bombs...

Progressed Sun opposition Pluto

A few days ago the opposition of progressed (Solar Arc) Sun and natal Pluto in my chart perfected. I held my breath for a few days to be able to tell a great story, but...

There was nothing dramatic, no change, noone died (well, some died, but it didn't hurt me because I didn't know them) and I didn't become a grandmother, either. No serieus money problems, a smooth and painless reorganization on the job, health OK...or should the effect have been that the doctor adviced not to be vaccinated against Mexican Flu because of an allergy that I have? My oh my!!!:) She added that the Flu is less scary than the allergy.

OK time is up for Pluto! Perhaps there is something coming (by post, at the office on Monday), but I guess that this opposition simply got bye without effecting me. There are several reasons why I should not feel an effect.

1. It is a progression
That means that I slowly moved on to reach this station and there was a development.
2. The secondary Moon made no aspect, it can stil happen when she does.
3. There was no transit.
That should transfer the moment to November 22/23 when transit Jupiter is conjunct progressed Sun and opposition Pluto.

What could have happened? Brady says that a progressive opposition of Sun with a radix position is indicating that you will be motivated by others to decide. The progressive aspect (progressed Sun opposition progressed Pluto) would show a moment of decission that was more 'by heart'. That moment was a year ago. It didn't change a thing, but...I decided to put more energy in my official job and less in astrology. By the numbers of posts you can see that I managed to lessen the amount by 50%.

Noel TYl writes in Solar ARcs that SA Sun - Pluto's effect is like this: "Illumination of power needs; the need to control; new perspectives confirmed in life." My Midheaven is conjunct Sun, and adding this you get: 'striving for power and control; vocational upset and change to adopt new perspectives; power games with important consequences'. P/MC met Zon geeft volgens hem o.a. 'wanting to spread one's wings and fly', Maybe I don't have wings to fly!:) And maybe MY Pluto has another way to express himself.

Pluto is in my 6th house and rules the ninth house in an equal house chart and the eight house in Placidus. There have been contacts with Pluto before, of course. I rectified what I did wrong with P Sun sesquisquare Pluto, when I wanted to quit school ASAP (and I did one year later, as soon as I was allowed to). With P Sun quindecile Pluto I finished my study to be a teacher. With Sun inconjunct Pluto I got my driver's licence. With Sun biquintile Pluto I got a lovely dog (and started training her). With P Sun opposition P Pluto I did a workshop with Noel Tyl in Lisbon (in fact, this was 2 weeks later than the moment that the aspect was tight, so perhaps in two weeks time, something happens:)

So in my chart, Pluto is related to studies, school and workshops. WOW! I AM doing a workshop at the office right now. Perhaps it is more important than I think...?

Other persons have more important Sun-Pluto progressions. That is when they are important. For example, Hitler. He had Progressed Sun opposition radix Pluto and wrote Mein Kampf. I wrote a short story, just for fun and finished it last week. It is not the same, but Agatha Christie was also writing when she had progressed Sun opposition radix and progressive Pluto. She wrote her autobiography. Pluto is her ruler 3 in 10 in the natal chart and ruler 1 in 8 in the progressed chart. Perhaps she thougth that she had not much more to live (she was already 77) and it seems that she suffered from dementia. I have another example: Tina Turner's progressed Sun oposition radix and progressive Pluto between September 1996 and September 1997. That was during her come back toour after a period of rest for four years. Pluto really intensified life. Marshall Tito was about 4 to 5 when he had Sun conjunct Pluto and was living with his grandfather for no mentioned reason. Seems rather intense to me! In 1934/1935 Salvador Dalí had P Sun conjunct Pluto. That is when he married Gala. They say that he never had sex with a woman before. The conjunction is the symbol of initiating things and Pluto is also the symbol of sex. In some person's charts, it is. In mine it is a training!

Sun-Pluto conjunctions and oppositions

Sun-Pluto conjunctions (and oppositions) are not easy to deal with. The aspect may stimulate you to do what you always wanted to do (because you realize that life is not for ever). And sometimes you are forced to be strong and face the facts of life and death. The positive side of a Sun-Pluto transit or progression is that it makes you aware of what you value most in life. Pluto, in my eyes, is not the illness or the problem itself. Pluto symbolizes the force that you need to overcome them or to boldly face the facts. Pluto is a very small object, a dwarf planet in the darkest corner of our solar system. Only when the light of the Sun is being shed on Pluto, everybody can see it. It is just like with a problem: you need to know the how's and why's to be able to draw the right conclusion and start making the alternations needed to be able to live with the problem or to cut it out of your life or body.

NATAL CHART
Sun conjunct Pluto in the natal chart says that you are likely to be a fanatic and you can make life more difficult for yourself than life needs to be...Sun-Pluto people may be very demanding. It is difficult for you to live with authorities or to be an authority yourself. You want to resist against everybody who wants to change you or influence your lifestyle. Perhaps that was because your father was too severe. Perhaps you judge yourself too much. It seems that life for you is being a tyrant or being disciplined. The main problem is the theme of self esteem. Stress, or the intense way of living might cause health problems or it is the other way around: health problems strongly influence the way that you are living...

Sometimes it seems that the Sun-Pluto person is only happy when there is a problem to deal with. If there is none, they make one. They are the experts, the strong leaders and they want life to be challenging. At a certain moment their lives change in a dramatic or substantial way. But most of all they want to win games. The majority of the football coaches that I know have an aspect between Sun and Pluto. Some women with this aspect choose strong and dominating men as a challenge.

Examples: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Jackson (physical transformation), Achmed Sukarno (politics), Leo Beenhakker and Louis van Gaal (coaches)

PROGRESSIONS, TRANSITS AND SYNASTRY
On my site Astromarkt you find the complete article(click this link) about Sun-Pluto (natal, transits and progressions) with examples like Josef Fritzl, the Pope and Ingrid Betancourt.
