Chart of the exceptional Bette Davis

My blog Art-astrology.blogspot.com is filled with charts of artists and actors and musicians with a specific pattern in their charts. There is always an exception, for every rule, however. Betty Davis doesn't have the usual pattern for talent, demonstrated by a combination of aspects between Moon, Venus and Neptune, related to Midheaven and the signs Taurus, Libra, Pisces and Cancer. There is only a tight square of Venus and Midheaven, relating her career to entertainment, beauty or diplomacy. Betty or Bette Davis made her way to the top with discipline, passion and hard work.

SATURN for ambition, parents and parenthood
Her Sun/Moon midpoint is semi square Saturn.
Saturn rises before the Sun.
The importance of Saturn shows how serious and ambitious Betty Davis was. She followed her mother's dream… She had classical schooling in drama. That is very Saturn! Sun/Moon with Saturn is motivated to climb in society. Saturn as the orientational planet gave her a serious approach.

MARS for energy and drive
Mars is 'calling' (no aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees) and square Midheaven. She worked hard, I guess. Was she a 'Streber'?  She certainly wouldn't like to fail.

VENUS-MARS-MC: passion for the job
But there is also passion.
There is an out of sign conjunction with Venus that is hard to be overlooked. The Venus-Mars conjunction is related to MC.
(This conjunction is situated in her 7th house of marriage. She married 4 times - Sun square Uranus+Mars sextile Saturn, Gemini Moon and Venus in 7).

SUN SQUARE AND MOON INCONJUNCT URANUS: independence highlighted
The tightest aspect in her chart is Moon inconjunct Uranus, the somewhat unbalanced need for excitement and change.
As the Sun is square Uranus, there is an aspect combination of Sun/Moon/Uranus that is telling us about being motivated by tension and anything new. The Sun-Moon combination with Uranus also speaks of tension in marriage related to being 'different' or 'special' in heart and soul. There is a correspondence with the way Sun/Moon midpoint in aspect with Uranus mirrors independence being highlighted. She was exceptional, not the usual stuff and she showed it.

The Scorpio Ascendant matches her way to be rude sometimes.

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER

Here is her chart with the transits of the day that her daughter, whom she referred to as 'Hyman' sometimes, was born. Their relationship was bad. Betty Davis disinherited her. May I point at her Ceres (motherhood, genes, heirloom) inconjunct (=loss) the daughter's natal Sun? As she said: ' If you have never been hated by a child, you have never been a parent'. Her Ceres happens to be conjunct her midpoint Ascendant/Midheaven, illustrating the crucial importance of motherhood and ... her own mother, who wanted so much to see her daughter in a theatre or in the movies.

PS The Sun is in the 5th house of games and plays. I suppose that she was born shortly before 9 pm, so that her Midheaven is in Leo and the Sun in the 5th more related to the star on stage.

The importance of Mars in the Newtown tragedy

This post is about the tragedy in Newtown and the charts of the shooting and the shooter.

I wrote about charts of shooting incidents before (see: The importance of Mars in shooting charts)
These charts all contain an important Mars.  The chart of the moment of the first shot in Newtown also has an important Mars.  It is not strange to see an important Mars in the charts of shootings and shooters. Mars is the symbol of fire (energy) and in English to shoot a gun is to fire.

Mars is prominent, because Mars doesn't make a major aspect in sign or orb 5 degrees. That makes Mars 'calling' (read: aggression and action at any kind of level taking place). Saturn is elevated. Together Saturn and Mars illustrate the theme of discipline, death and ending energies. With Mars and Saturn prominently in the chart, we are to face difficulties (use link for more on that aspect).

Mars is also prominent in the chart of the shooter. Mars rises before his Sun (and before the inner planets). Mars is the orientational planet. When Mars rises before the Sun, there is a focus on action, producing, activism, using energy, aggression, male issues and muscles. NATAL, PROGRESSIONS AND TRANSITS ADAM LANZA

Here you see the natal and progressed chart of the day of birth of the shooter, Adam Lanza. There is no time of birth available, but it is clear that whoever was born on that specific day has problems right now.
1. Progressed Sun is opposition Pluto. This confronts a person with cases of life and death, threats, danger and authorities. There is stress, there is pressure.
2. Also, there is Transit Pholus with natal Mars. This tells us about a turning point in energy and drives. 3.Transit Saturn quindecile (obsessive 165 degree aspect) with the Sun mirrors an extreme focus on endings, blockades and barriers. It is a very depressing aspect, that makes it hard to see the brighter sides of life.

The combination of the availability of weapons, the tendency to act/do something (Mars rising before Sun) and the times of troubles (Sun-Pluto, Saturn-Sun) were some of the keys to destruction and tragedy for the victims, their parents and family. The individual chart with time of birth might hold more clues.

URANUS-NEPTUNE: the hype
Many astrologers have already pointed at the tight conjunction of Uranus and Neptune in the shooter's natal chart. This so called generational conjunction is square Eris (symbol of discord) and semi square the important Mars. Uranus-Neptune is the combination of the media hype. Maybe the tales about the eve of destruction and doomsday attributed to the events.

The brother of Adam Lanza, who also has Mars rising before the Sun, lost his mother and brother and even was a suspect for a while. When I studied the charts of the moment of the deathly shooting incident in Aurora, Denver and the positions of the day of birth of the shooter (December 13, 1987). I noticed that in both charts there is a narrow aspect combination of Mars-Uranus-Pluto. Also, in both charts Neptune is 'calling'*)! This coincidental correspondence happens to reflect what happened...
There is a quintile between Mars and Uranus in the chart of the shooting in Newtown and Pluto is square Uranus.

Calling planets, more explanation

I just tweeted about calling planets as I noticed that I have to explain a bit more about what it is, what major aspects and what orbs are. I use the term frequently because I find it as important in a chart as a scar is in the face, like a sort of an Astro ID.

WHEN?
Planets make aspects. Aspects are specific distances with other planets or angles in the chart. The major aspects are conjunction 0d) sextile (60d), square (90d) trine (120d) and opposition (180d). An aspect needs not to be exactly the mentioned distance. There is an orb. I use a 5 degree orb (with exceptions). A calling planet doesn't make such an aspect within orb or sign. (I don't say that there is no aspect when there is an aspect within 5 degrees orb, but out of sign. I just use these indications for 'calling planets').

WHAT?
Calling planets tend to present their energy at any kind of level, somehow, anyhow.

HOW?
When it is your Sun that doesn't make major aspects within 5 degrees orb and/or in sign you will draw attention, somehow, anyhow as a leader, performing, showing off, whatever it takes.

CALLING SUN

Sun without aspects: leadership, show, performance (as an athlete, for example), drawing attention at any possible level

CALLING MOON

Moon without aspects attrackts children. Everything related to children (education, care) will be highlighted. The Moon is of importance for memorising, like in history and when you play a certain role on stage, but also for cooks.

CALLING MERCURY

Mercury = seeking for contacts and ways for communication as a writer, reporter, or transporter (delivering messages). 

CALLING VENUS

Venus = seeking for love, kindness and sympathy. Style, beauty, charm and diplomacy will be used in the profession, if possible. Venus is important in the charts of diplomats, stylists, beauties and those working in the field of entertainment and pleasure.

CALLING MARS

Mars without aspects will be strongly dedicated to the job, often in sports, in the military, industry or as an entrepeneur. If Mars is not working, the energy will find a way out in adventures, activism or by showing very high and very low levels of energy and drive.

CALLING JUPITER

Jupiter = seeking for a conviction or religion and wants development. An unaspected Jupiter will be an international, a traveller, someone with a strong conviction, showing the way (sometimes as a coach, sometimes on a trip).

CALLING SATURN

Saturn = seeking for stability and security, status. Of course an unaspected Saturn will be found in the charts of those who work in the government, construction, with the elderly or in any hierarchy. 

CALLING URANUS

Uranus = seeking for sensation, new items and news. That is why the unaspected Uranus will likely be driven to gadgets, the latest findings, technology, inventions and ...news. Journalists, inventors, engineers, computer freaks and technocrats are among those with an unaspected Uranus. Sometimes it is the signature of the outsider or rebel.

CALLING NEPTUNE

Neptune = seeking mystic, romance, rest. All that you can't touch or feel, but smell sometimes is Neptunic, like the perfume industry and chemistry. Drugs, the movies, religion, spirtiuals and spirituality are part of the world of Neptune. 

CALLING PLUTO

Pluto = seeking challenges and influence by using force and authority or values (money). Strong men (with or without muscles) have unaspected Pluto's, but Pluto is also 'calling' those who work in cases of life and death, and where strategy is needed (in politics, for example).

A CALL FOR...

Those planets, Sun or Moon strongly influence your career, because they manifest themselves at any possible level, somehow or anyhow and strongly drive you into a certain direction.

And of course, you can have more than one 'calling planet' or an MC without major aspects (so that your position can reach any level) or a dito Ascendant (a presentation at any level). 

That is the theory. There are examples on this blog. The latest is Betty Ford, who had the Sun without major aspects and who became the nation's First Lady.

Ahmadinejad, Khamenei and Eris (discord)

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has problems with Khamenei, supreme leader and former President of Iran. Ahmadinejad is a chosen politician, the official President in a strictly ruled theocracy in hostile relations with most countries. This post is about Mars-Neptune, Transit Saturn inconjunct Mars, signs of changing times for Ahmadinejad and about Jupiter-Sun and Eris in synastry. The Eris of Khameini is exactly inconjunct the natal Sun of Ahmadinejad and Khamenei's progressed Sun is opposition his Eris and semi sextile the natal Sun of Ahmadinejad. Time for some discord between them?

Politics is complicated. The interaction between two persons is a complicated matter. There is much much more (international issues, family matters...) and a chart should always been seen in the light of circumstances and changing situations. DOB's of Kirsan Iljumzhinov and Muammar Gaddafi, playing chess

He just played chess with Muammar Gaddafi, he claims to have met aliens on his balcony and for almost a decade (since April 12, 1993)  he was the President of Kalmykia (part of the Russian Federation: that is Kirsan Ilyumzhinov (Кирса́н Никола́евич Илюмжи́нов), born April 5, 1962 in Elista at ??? hour. The chart says that he has Sun biquintile Pluto (perhaps illustrating the creative talent to be an authority). With Venus sextile Jupiter he likes the nice sides of life. , but he is first of all a driven person, an activist, a fighter, a promotor (of chess and religion). The fact that he is an Aries with Moon in Aries and is Mars 'calling and rising before the Sun fuels this chart. He is first of all a driven person, an activist, a fighter, a promotor (of chess and religion).He was in Africa to promote chess for Fifa.

Ilyumzhinov is certainly not stupid, see Wikipedia  and he is very rich, too. He benefitted from the rise of the new Russian economy (watch Jupiter/Pluto semi square Quaoar and Venus in Taurus sextile Jupiter). 

MERCURY+PLUTO: mental strategy

What is interesting in his chart is, that there are just a few narrow aspects and mostly minor aspects. Mercury doesn't make any aspect at all. Mercury is the symbol of communications and language. He speaks several languages. Pluto also doesn't make a major aspect within orb 5 degrees. That makes Pluto special. Pluto is the symbol of power, strength, values and intensity or authority. With Mercury and Pluto 'calling' mental strategy is 'calling'. Chess is one of the fields to use that ability.Politics is another one. Don't ask me why he claims to have seen aliens. Maybe that is part of the strategy, too? 

NOT ENEMIES...

Gadaffi (born June 7, 1942) might have the Moon in Aries, too. Lots of friends have the Moon in the same sign (see Astromarkt...). Having the Moon in the same sign makes you feel at home. But...Is this Gadaffi's real day of birth? In that case, the Suns of the men are sextile. Both have Venus in Taurus (they like each other and have the same sort of preferences and hobbies: Venus conjunct Venus). And that explains, perhaps...

Here above you see the possible chart of Gaddafi, for noon of June 7, 1942. If that is the day of his birth, he is now in a period of stress and obsessed survival (Transit Pluto quindecile Progressed Sun; facing issues of life and death) and is about to see a turning point in life (Transit Pholus opposition Natal Sun). The present transit of Uranus trine Pluto makes it easy to make changes and revolutions. Or is it as this site (Horoscopes within) says (quote):

A time during which you reach new levels in understanding life and death

Given the circumstances, that could just be it...

Chart of Mr. Harold Camping's day of birth

Aren't we all happy that Harold Camping was wrong and we all were right about the End of the World? He is happy, too. At least, if you believe that transit Jupiter square Sun and inconjunct Venus is an astrological statement for extraordinary happiness...The fact that is was the wrong idea, that May 21 would be the last (or his lasts) is of minor importance. For that we see Saturn square natal Mercury and Neptune 105 d progressed Mercury. Also transit Pholus square Jupiter turns the happy tides. 

Wether he was right or wrong: he had success! His name is known all over the world. A woman tried to cut her daughters' throats just because mr. Harold Camping predicted the End of the World! What an influence! And what does the chart say about that? This is the chart of the day that Harold Camping was born. It was not 'just one day'. It was also the day of birth of a famous scientist, Rosalyn Sussman Yalow (link to Wiki). Perhaps it was a better day to be born as a scientist then to be than as a prophet...

WATER, MARS-SATURN-PHOLUS, URANUS-PLUTO

First of all: we don't know the hour of birth, unfortunately. So we don't know the degree of the Moon, Ascendant and Midheaven, or the midpoint Sun/Moon or AC?MC. We don't know the angular positions, either. But, we know a few things. He has, for example, the majority of placements in water signs and that makes him the kind of person to 'go with the flow' with a desire to 'be part of it' 'to belong' and ' to be a member' (of the Good ones, of course). 

There is also an applying narrow trine between Uranus and Pluto, the duo of Revolution. There must be (Pluto) change (Uranus) and the trine shows us how fluently this concept of dramatic change is being adapted in the world of mr. Camping (I like that name, I like to go to Campings!:) Then there is Saturn quintile Pluto: a creative die hard! He is not really beaten by the facts of life. Now that his prediction failed, he simply produces the next one! Saturn-Uranus with Pluto makes the dramatic change not a very pleasant one (in his eyes).

Transit Uranus inconjunct progressed Quaoar tells us about sudden new realities causing lack of balance. 

We know that the tightest growing aspect in his chart is Mars sextile Saturn. Mars-Saturn wants discipline and order. The End of the World would be a good way to discipline earth, wouldn't it?  And let's not forget the magic biquintile between Mars and Pholus: the creative fighter. Mars-Saturn with Pholus would make a hard turning point. Mars is the orientational planet: he is an activist (Mars) creating (biquintile) hard turning points. And he just did! Some of his followers learned not to believe so hard.

Mr. Camping's nature is to make propaganda (Mars orientational) and aspects of his character are 'the die hard', 'hard discipline' and 'the way out to dramatic change' represented by Saturn-Pluto, Mars-Saturn and Uranus trine Pluto. He could have tried to become a scientist, but for a number of reasons that we don't know he became a 'prophet'. No astrologer would expect him to predict heaven ever after with this kind of a chart and horoscope. (But I wonder why transit Jupiter provides such a self confidence (and perhaps support) after such a moment.)

Sun/Moon midpoint combinations with Mars

Sun/Moon is quite often in hard aspect with Mars. Maybe also in your chart? Around midnight in the night of 29 to 30 April 2011, Sun/Moon will be conjunct Mars. Sun is in the 10th of Taurus, Moon in the 4th of Aries and right in the middle is Mars in the 22nd degree of Aries. The babies born that (mid)night have a Sun/Moon midpoint combination with Mars!

Sun/Moon midpoint uncovers your motivation. With Mercury, the symbol of the messenger, in hard aspect with Sun/Moon you are motivated to communicate or deliver messages. With Sun/Moon in hard aspect with Venus, the beautiful goddess of love, you need harmony, beauty and style to feel good. Imagine what happens when Mars is in hard aspect with Sun/Moon…Impatience, action, promotion, drives and energy are being highlighted, sometimes people with this combination actually are ‘in sports’ or activists. In the chart of a female this midpoint combination often highlights the importance of the opposite sex. Anyone with Sun/Moon/Mars-combinations wants marriage and family life to be productive and sees marriage as a sort of a joint venture. They need speed and action to feel alive.

Cheating women and their charts

When Venus is calling in a man's chart, he often can't resist the call. When Mars is 'calling' in a woman's chart, she might not be able to resist 'men' and she might have more 'sex drive' than other women have.  

There is an example on this blog of a wealthy German woman with a gigolo with Mars 'calling' (no aspects in sign/5 d orb) and rising before the Sun (orientation on men at any possible level) and an anonymous comment about the ladies body temperature. OK, Mars is the symbol of fire, too:).

There are few famous examples of cheating ladies. The cheating lady that I know happens to have a 'calling' Mars , too, with Venus square Neptune (and no artistic talent that I know of:). She married too young and started cheating. Eventually she found another man and divorced. Venus is in a wide conjunction with Uranus, too. And in her 7th house: Jupiter! (for more than one relationship).

Catherina the Great is of course a great cheat. Her husband happened to die just one week after she took over power. Just like cheating men she had Moon conjunct Venus. In a woman's chart: a need to be loved...Mars was rising before the Sun (another prominent Mars!) and Venus inconjunct Uranus did the rest (it expresses the desire for alteration and adventure and the tendency to fall in love repeatedly in an exaggerated way - because of the inconjunction). 

Whoopi Goldberg, Meg Ryan (for revenge) and Madonna cheated, too. 

Whoopi's Mars in Libra in the 8th house is 'calling' and so is her Venus in Sagittarius on the MC. Her Moon is rising before the Sun (needs first?). And just like my earlier example: Jupiter is in the 7th house.   

Meg Ryan is an exception. No prominent Mars for her, but she has indications for divorce (Venus quintile and Sun square Uranus, square between rulers of 1 and 7) and she had a reason:). And a Mars-Uranus aspect, just like Madonna.

Princess Diana also cheated out of revenge. In her chart. Sun semi square Venus and Uranus (and Venus square Uranus) tells the same story as in the chart of Meg Ryan. 

Women (still) don't have as much 'chance' to cheat as men have and in some countries they are executed even if they were raped. Being true or not depends on the quality of the relationship (and sexlife) but it is also a matter of hormones. 


I think that the 'calling' Venus in the chart of men and the 'calling' Mars in the chart of women indicate that the attraction to the opposite sex can reach any level.
