Chart of Boris Johnson and direct communications

Boris Johnson, the conservative Mayor of London, is a Gemini born on June 19, 1964 in New York USA at 14.00 h. He was in the news lately, because he told a protesting cab driver to go away and die. That is maybe a surprising thing to do for a Mayor, but it’s not so surprising when you study his chart. There are a few explanations for the outburst. Mars rising before the Sun is always more aggressive and direct as others are. Eris in a key position doesn’t make it easy not to get mingled in disagreement. Here is the chart:

A list:

1 Mars in Gemini is the first outer planet that rises before his Sun, so that he first of all is direct (Mars) in communications (Gemini) and an activist (using words)

2. Mars is inconjunct the Scorpio Moon (when intents emotions get involved he may be too direct)

3. Eris is on the Descendant (there is always disagreement and discord on the horizon)

4. Eris is inconjunct Pluto (there is an overdose of intensity when there IS disagreement, with a price to pay).

5. Last but not least: Mercury is ‘calling’ (not making major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees). He will communicate somehow, anyhow, and at any possible level… Boris Johnson was severely deaf as a child and quiet. Mercury is exactly trine Pholus, indication of a turning point in communications. He definitely had one!

CAREER

Boris Johnson was first a journalist (Mercury! Later he went into politics. For politics in the chart we see Mercury/Saturn semi square Pluto (the combination of strategic communications that Is almost always there in the chart of a politician). Pluto is sextile his Midheaven. But somehow, anyhow, Boris Johnson remains a man of direct and fast communications.

Astrology chart of Snoop Dogg (dissing Iggy Azalea)

You know that every and any chart should be considered with age, gender, genes, social situation, conditions and culture in mind. Here is the chart of Snoop Dogg, a famous AND notirious rapper. He is the news because he keeps dissing Iggy Azalea (see this link). No surprise, because his Venus inconjunct Eris just loves to create discord!

RAPPER

A rapper is telling his own rhythmic tales. Communications and rhythm is what you need, and it helps to have a difficult background. The astrologic word for communications is Mercury. His Mercury doesn’t make any aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees and that is what I call a ‘calling Mercury’. When you have Mercury calling, you can’t resist to talk, talk and talk, so telling stories is your thingJ.). His Mercury is conjunct Ixion (symbol of ‘the bad guy’) and both are inconjunct Saturn. Mercury and Ixion are at the midpoint Sun/Moon. That increases the motivation to communicate along with a ‘gangsta’ issue (Ixion).

There is also a ‘calling’ Uranus, rising before the Sun. This VIP Uranus is a VIP rebel, like Snoop Dogg is.  But Uranus is also the symbol of rhythm and acceleration.

Mercury (voice, pen), Uranus (rhythm, rebellion) and Ixion (gansta): a recipe for rapping.

CHARACTERISTICS

Libra Sun, Scorpio Moon and an early Taurus Ascendant immediately points at the axis of earning money. Moon conjunct Venus semi square Pluto and Taurus Ascendant inconjunct Pluto.

There is a pattern indicating issues related to making money and values (Taurus-Scorpio-Libra). There is a Moon conjunct Venus for sense of style and what people like. And the mentioned Venus (ruler Sun) inconjunct Eris links the charming Libra to excessive disagreement. Libra likes a good atmosphere, but Venus inconjunct Eris can't resist to throw apples:).

 

Iggy Azalea

Snoop Dogg was born with 5 placements in air signs AND a calling Mercury, so that there is a strong focus on communications and the use of voice or pen. And he happened to know a lot of rappers!

MIDHEAVEN ROUTING

Midheaven’s ruler Saturn in the 2^nd house and the lack of placements in earth signs (except for the AC) tells us about the need to get material security. Because of ruler 10 in 2 this is related to public (10) appearances (2 is 5 of 10). The most narrow aspect with Midheaven is made by Pallas, the symbol of (repeated) patterns.

Venus-Pluto’s mutual reception finally disposes of Midheaven in Capricorn, ruled by Saturn in Gemini in the 2^nd house. That strongly refers to making money, again.

Now we got a person who is involved in public appearances (television, theatre), eager to make money and very capable and motivated to communicate (fast and furiousJ). As he is surrounded by rappers and living in a  ‘gangsta’ culture, it is more likely that he would become a rapper than an author. 

But how did he become famous?

PROGRESSED MOON-JUPITER

When he became known (release of movie April 1991) transit Jupiter was square his Sun/Moon midpoint with Mercury and Ixion, but so was Saturn. There is a Jupiter-Saturn opposition in the natal chart. Such an aspect adds disadvantages to successes and vice versa. There was a progressed Moon trine natal and later progressed Jupiter in that year. That is one of the best progressions a person can have. As there was much exposure, his rap became a success.

I see none of the usual indications for success (Jupiter-Pluto combinations or Mercury-Jupiter), just Jupiter/Neptune with Midheaven (an audience) and Jupiter/Uranus conjunct Venus (sudden artistic windfall). Maybe you do? 

Perhaps the right moment (Moon-Jupiter in April 1991) was enough for a fast and controversial speaking gangsta man with an audience in the best period for rappers.

A lost battle and Mars inconjunct Eris

It is hard to believe today, but on August 30, 1799 a joined force of British and Russian soldiers defeated the entire Dutch fleet and invaded a part of Holland. Eventually, they had to give up and were allowed to leave the country unmolested. Now how did the Dutch chart look that day?

When a war or a battle is concerned, I always look for Mars-Eris combinations as Mars is the symbol of war and competing, while Eris is the goddess of disharmony. I use to find that combination.

Transit Varuna (ruling the seas) was trine Eris (perfect time for a sea battle) but…

Transit Mars in the 12th degree of Virgo was inconjunct natal Eris, which is a perfect statement for a lost war incident.

Transit Eris was inconjunct natal IC (and Saturn inconjunct natal DC).

That completes the rule of 3.  Watch transit Jupiter moving on to make a trine with Midheaven. That is why the victory couldn’t lastJ.]

On October 6 (Battle of Castricum) ended in the unharmed retreat of the British-Russian army, shortly after transit Venus was trine the Dutch MC. Venus is for peace and kindness.

100 years ago World War I started

One hundred years ago today, World War I started when Austria declared war at Servia. Here is the chart of that day (chosen time is noon) with the positions in the sky on November 11, 1918 (when the cease fire ended the tragic years). There is one aspect that I want to mention here: the narrow Saturn-Eris, twice.

When WW1 started, Saturn was square Eris.
When WW2 ended (cease fire), Saturn was inconjunct Eris.

Eris is the symbol of discord. Saturn is the symbol of status quo and decorum. On July 28, 1914 there was an official status of discord (war) and on November 11, 1918, there was an official status of cease fire (inconjunct Eris).

A war doesn't start just like that. The declaration of war doesn't come out of the blue. The murder committed by Princip triggered an already unstable situation. But the official start was today, one hundred years ago. After that: 16 million dead, 20 million wounded.

Putin's grand square and 14th degree of Cardinal signs

There is a Grand Cross in the air: Jupiter in Cancer oppositie Pluto in Capricorn, square Mars in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries. It is like a high speed crossing point with a problem: who is first, who has the right to move first. Vladimir Putin has his Sun at one of the points of the crossing, in 13.9 Libra. He is part of the 'game'.

The 14th degree of cardinal signs includes the 14th of Libra, a degree affected by the transits of Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto at the same time. The Grand Cross means busy days for anyone with the Sun, Midheaven, Ascendant or Moon in a 14th degree of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn...and lots of tension.
The tension in Ukraine seems to mirror the tension in the chart of the Russian leader. Why? Because the charts of leaders (and coaches) very frequently show what happens to the people (or the team).

The 14th degree of Libra is pictured in Zodiac Images. Janduz speaks of a scene with a man and a woman spying on each other like in a play.

Putin was a member of the KGB before he became a politician. Both jobs include strategies. Pluto is the symbol of policy, strategy and power. It is the first (dwarf)planet rising before Putin's natal sun and - if the time of birth is correct -, Pluto is also the planet on Midheaven. That is how important strategy, politics and power are in this chart. 

As Pluto and Midheaven are in the 22/23 degree of Leo there, transit Saturn in the first house is square his Midheaven.  It  could just be personal (he divorced last year) but with Saturn-MC there is always the sense of being alone, being aware of your responsibilities and mistakes, the public fall (of your pedestal or a real fall with consequences). But as his hour of birth could be wrong, I'd like to focus on the 14th degree of his Libra Sun and the Grand Square

OOB MOON CALLING SCORPIO ASCENDANT
Putin's chart has a 'calling' and out of bounds Moon in Gemini (perhaps inconjunct the Scorpio Ascendant). That Moon is a signal for a need to communicate and for needs and at any possible level, with surprising reactions.
So, his Moon is highly unpredictable.

The other side of the calling Moon is that what you need is so important, that sometimes you are overruled by your needs. If this Moon rises before the Sun, the person involved will be lead by needs and emotions.

This important, unpredictable 8th house (!) Moon tells us of his need to keep memories and history alive and to communicate that. The inconjunct with the Ascendant shows overreaction. The sentimental (Moon) journey (Gemini) comes in the shape of a Scorpio Ascendant, defensive by nature. It is what happens and what the Russians say: they feel that they are defending their interests and the Russians in Ukraine and Crimia. A historical after-cold-war mistake now creates tension.

And his Mars is also out of bounds (for the workaholic).

GRAND CROSS DEGREES
The tension of the Grand Square maybe makes him very nervous and stressful, but also brings him success. He (and because of his position: Russia) choose to support Al Assad in Syria and Assad is winning. He invaded Crimia and he is allowed to keep it. There are indications for his successes.

1. In the progressed chart Mars is square Jupiter (and the square is getting tighter)
2. Jupiter and Pluto square his natal sun means midpoint Jupiter/Pluto on his Sun = success
3. Jupiter and Uranus in hard aspect with his Sun contribute to relief and unexpected progress
4. Mars and Jupiter in hard aspect with his Sun help him to move on
5. Uranus and Pluto in hard aspect with his Sun force changes (and rebellion)

The pictures of the Grand Cross degrees are:

1. A man coming out of a wine cellar, toasting, and a dog and a lion looking at each other, rather friendly (14 Aries)
2. A serene sky with a beautiful star above flowers. A crowned lamb nearby, decorated with a star (14 Cancer, a degree for fame)
3. 14 Libra is that degree of the spying couple, acting
4. 14 Capricorn is a degree of a frog playing the harp and means harmony

Now, who's afraid of the Grand Cross in such friendly, starry, harmonic and (OK) spying/acting degrees? The Wine Cellar 14 degree Aries man has Uranus for a surprising taste. The serene sky has Jupiter for even more success. The frog has Pluto (very convenient for the symbol of frogs). Only that Mars in Libra might be a problem, because there will be competition between the spying man and woman.

It is obvious that the Grand Cross brings tension. But, the 14th degree doesn't harm Putin up to now. In fact: he seems to get what he wants. He got the Olympics, he got Crimia. He sees his friend Assad win. And though it's lonely at the top, there must be compensation for that. Here is the chart with transits and progressions for now (click to enlarge):

Meanwhile, how is Obama (leader of the West) doing? The Grand Cross doesn't hit his chart at all. It is Saturn.

OCTOBER 2014 SATURN AND JUPITER
Saturn will be semi square his AC/MC midpoint (again) late in October 2014, when Putin gets transit Saturn square MC. It the same 'coincidence' that occurred in early March, when I wrote about 'Lots of Mars' in their charts and synastry. I have no idea what to expect, but I know that Obama will have Jupiter on his Descendant mid October and that Putin will see transit Jupiter on his Midheaven in November. AC and MC of Putin is less sure than of Obama's!

How to interpret this? Only if you know what happened between now and October you can be certain that it means a successful ending for both. Let's hope that it is a successful ending of the new cold war. BTW:

Horst Tappert (Derrick), Mars, Eris and the Waffen SS

On April 25 this year it became known that the (late) popular actor Horst Tappert (Derrick on television) voluntarily joined the most cruel section of the Waffen SS during World War II. He had been hiding this fact all of his life, just like Gunter Grass. You know that Eris is the symbol of discord (and discord on a world wide scale means war)? The progressed Sun of Horst Tappert, in a new sign for just a few months, is inconjunct Eris.

In the years of the Second World War, Horst Tappert was around 20 years old and his progressed Sun was going to join Mars, the symbol of the warrior. In his natal chart, Mars is 'calling!' (no aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees) and that makes you think about the soldier in the chart of Tappert. However, he wore a gun in Derrick, too!

PS I said it before: with Sun quintile Neptune you will be able to create a 'double' life:)

George W. Bush and Eris on 09-11

On September 4, 2011, National Geographics interviews GW Bush about 09-11's impact. He says that he never wanted to be a President of war. But, on 09-11 his progressed Sun was inconjuct natal Eris, symbol of discord (and the start of fights). The attack of foreign terrorists is one of the ways that Eris migt manifests herself in the chart of the leader of the most powerful nation on earth. 

There were more transits and progressions,  of course . One of those is the aspect that is causing problems for Obama now: transit Neptune inconjunct Progressed Sun. The two joined inconjuctions on 09-11 show the loss of balance and how GWB was being struck by the event. See that post about the charts of the president and his wife on September 11. When I wrote that, I hadn't included Eris, yet. Here is his chart with transits and progressions and... with Eris...

Uranus and Pholus on the Ascendant are reflecting the sudden shocking turning point and his tension. The chart shows only his view and his personal reaction, not a predictable event. Who could have guessed that the USA would be attacked in NY City on September11? Even the fact that the chart of the President has more than 3 difficult aspects within a couple of weeks doesn't mean that it 

a) would happen to others than himself 

b) would happen in NY 

c) would happen on 09-11 (unless the birth time of this AA rated chart would be corrected so that the progressed Ascendant would be exactly square natal Uranus). 

You know, when he had problems with his knee in July of 1995, and had to quit jogging, there were heavy transits of Uranus and Pluto and in the progressed chart the Midheaven was conjunct Uranus. It was shortly after a shocking event in American history. On April 19, 1995 (Oklahoma City bombing) with transit Uranus inconjunct the Sun of G.W. Bush and transit Eris opposition Jupiter.

Mars, Eris and the chart of King Harald V

Transits with the chart of King Harald V are resonating the situation: bombs and shootings in a peaceful country. Mars is inconjunct his natal Mars. Eris in also inconjunct Mars. The midpoint of transit Mars/Eris is inconjunct natal Mars. And there is also transit Mars square his Saturn.  Mars-Eris-Saturn with Mars: it is the combination of a depressing act of aggression. The King of Norway was confronted with this today. See CNN for an impression.


1. MARS INCONJUNCT MARS
'Dreadfully cut up by it' is the translation of a Dutch word ' aangeslagen' a variety of 'aanslag' = attack. I see Mars inconjunct Mars in the chart of the Norwegian King Harald V today and tomorrow. He has been taken to a safe place, out of the palace in Oslo. When Mars hits your natal or progressed Mars there is always the risk to get hurt. If it is not your body, it is your mind...

2. ERIS INCONJUNCT MARS
There is a second indication for the events of today: Transit Eris is inconjunct Mars. Mars-Eris is the combination of an act of war (see the chart of Pearl Harbor). Mars is the symbol of aggression. Eris is the symbol of discord. When they join forces, there is aggressive discord. 

3. MARS SQUARE SATURN
Mars square Saturn is an attack on the status quo and a sometimes deadly combination. In the king's natal chart Mars is exactly trine Saturn. That means that he is a disciplined person, seriously doing his duty and acting with caution. 

Here is the chart of the King of Norway. Like many other royals he has an important Jupiter (angular, on the Descendant and rising before the Sun and Mercury). This is reflecting the international contacts (and traveling) and the privileged position that royals have. Ceres (symbol of the dynasty) is 'calling' and quindecile the angular Moon in Cancer, ruler 1. That seems to be an appropriate discription of the importance of inheritance and genes. There is also an important  Venus square Ascendant, elevated. All pleasant positions for a pleasant kingdom and a beautiful country, now upset by terror.
