Chart of the late Robin Williams

Robin Williams, a talented and beloved movie star, died yesterday. It was:

1. when the progressed Sun had entered the final degree of Virgo (about to change sign).
It means that life or lifestyle is about to change. The period before and just after the changing sign of the progressed sun is an unstable period.

2. when progressed Mars was exactly on his natal MC. Mars is in the natal 8th house of crisis (life and death)
In the natal chart Mars is rising before the Sun. It is a position for an activist, for a do-er, for someone who is not likely to sit back and wait for the good times.

3. with transit Saturn on the midpoint Ascendant/Midheaven and almost conjunct Sun/Moon midpoint. Saturn's crucial and highlighted position marks endings, setbacks, depressions...

4. when the retrograding transit Pluto had been (again) opposition natal Mars and Uranus (and was on the midpoint Mars/Uranus); the Mars-Uranus-Pluto combination is about crisis.

5. with progressed Ascendant semi square the natal Sun/Moon midpoint and highlighted his situation.

6. with progressed Ascendant also quindecile (165 degree aspect) Pluto, for a focus on the planet of stress and crisis

6. when progressed Mercury ruler 8 was moving to an inconjunct with Jupiter. Mercury-Jupiter is the combination of successful decisions, but an inconjunct in between speaks of lost balance and loss.

7. with transit Mercury ruler 8 on natal Midheaven

8. and it happened to be a transit Sun conjunct Pluto day for Robin Williams. Those days are more complicated and dangerous than other days are. (As my site Astromarkt has been hacked, I can't link to the article about solar transits and the nature of the days, sorry.)

9. Progressed MC quindecile Jupiter doesn't seem to fit in the list, but there is often a Jupiter aspect involved when a person dies. Maybe because Jupiter is the planet of the great voyage... See 'Jupiter when you die': http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/08/jupiter-when-you-die.html

10. The important transit of Saturn had been over his Ascendant and was in the first natal house. Transits of Saturn are often depressing and force you to face the facts of life.

Also, the solar return chart for Chicago (place of birth) has Saturn on Midheaven. It might just be coincidence, of course.

On important moments in life, we use to see a lot of transits and progressions. The list above shows the amount of them on August 11, 2014. At least 5 of the above mentioned points are related to the 8th house of death, but still this wouldn't have to mirror the end of life. Astrology, like statistics, doesn't work the other way around. And it takes a natal chart to start with.

Robin Williams' natal chart has an usual pattern of artistic talent compared to the artists on my site Art&Astrology. The sensitive and amorphous Moon in Pisces opposition the planet of art, Venus is in a way (as Pisces is the 'house sign' of Neptune) a variation on the theme Moon-Venus-Neptune. Leo MC is for the star. The culminating Mercury tells us about the importance of communications. He 'quickly mastered dialects', says Wikipedia and Mercury's prominence mirrors that. Mars rising before the Sun and Out of Bounds is in line with the fact that he was called 'hyperactive' when he was young. The inconjunct of Sun and Chiron shows us that there is something wrong and healing was needed (from the start).

Here is the chart with transits and progressions for yesterday.

Mickey Rooney, life, death and chart

Mars-Saturn is one of the symbols of death (and other things*). Transit Saturn was square Mickey Rooney’s progressed Mars and semi sextile his natal Venus when he died, age 93 (!and they didn’t want him to serve in the army because of his heart!). Also transit Pluto was opposite his progressed Moon in 8. More transits and progressions accompanied him on the final journey, like transit Jupiter in 8 square Mercury and Jupiter also trine progressed Ascendant. Jupiter is often visible in the chart of someone who was very old or ill and died (See Jupiter, when you die)
Finally, there was transit Uranus trine Mars to make it fast.

URANUS SQUARE SUN/MOON
Mickey Rooney was an actor. First of all, he had ambition and followed his parents (Vaudeville artists) in their footsteps (Saturn rises before his Sun). In his branche he was exceptional (Uranus square Sun/Moon midpoint) because of his size. Uranus with Sun/Moon is not a guarantee for a long lasting marriage, so it is not surprising (sic…) that he married 8 times.

VENUS CALLING!
Rooney’s chart is a B-rated chart so that the Ascendant, MC and Moon may not be correct and only those transits and progressions in blue are valid (whatever hour of birth). The pattern of artistic talent is mostly formed by minor or major aspects between Moon, Venus and Neptune related to Midheaven. In this chart we see Moon 105 degrees Venus and opposite Neptune but no aspect of Moon-Venus-Neptune with MC. The Midheaven ruler is Mercury in Libra and as Venus is in Libra, too, Venus is the final ruler of the MC. That makes Venus double as important as Venus already is, because: Venus is ‘calling’. Entertainment, love, women, talent, diplomacy and everything nice and pretty would be manifested in his life, somehow, anyhow and at any possible level. Didn’t it?

See http://www.astromarkt.be/mars-in-aspect-with-saturn.html on Mars-Saturn aspects or visit my blog ART&ASTROLOGY for more charts of those who work in the field of art or entertainment.

Jupiter when you die

If a chart, calculated for a time of birth, would give us the time of death, precisely, we wouldn't be happy but scared.  We are lucky that there aren't such charts. Being born on the same day, place and hour doesn't mean you will die on the same day (see that post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2013/02/born-same-day-die-another-day-time-twins.html on time twins).

Charts can be read only in the context of culture, gender, genes, age and condition/situation. Changing the context helps a lot when a chart receives hard transits. That's, by the way,  an encouragement to make the world a better place and to try to have some peace.*)

We expect hard and nasty aspects for a day of death, but the truth is, that there is often a transit of Venus (to make things easier) or Jupiter (to improve a situation). When people say 'it was better for him (or her)…' there is often a Jupiter transit. Jupiter helps. Jupiter is the symbol of the doctor. But Jupiter is also the symbol of a passage, a voyage, moving on…

Yesterday Prince Friso, King Willem Alexander's brother died, age 44, while transit Jupiter was trine his natal Moon (11th Scorpio) and in the 8th progressed house (where the progressed Moon was, too). Jupiter trine Moon is one of the best aspects a person can get. And sometimes Jupiter simply accompanies death. Prince Friso was in coma for 1,5 years following a ski accident.

Here is the progressed (!) chart of Prince Friso, with transits and progression of yesterday.

I like to see Jupiter in the charts of moments of death as the symbol of the assistance (comfort, guiding) of those around and as the symbol of passing away/on.  There are several posts on this subject (http://astropost.blogspot.nl/search/label/Jupiter.%20Life%20and%20death)

There were a lot of heavy transits and progressions on the day of the ski accident. See that post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2012/02/accident-and-chart-of-prince-friso.html
It is a long list of unfortunate transits and progressions for a man who went out in the snow when there was a high risk of avalanches. An accident never comes alone...'

In 'The reflection of difficulties' you read about the transits and progressions with the chart of Princess Mabel, now Prince Friso's widow: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2012/02/reflection-of-difficulties.html
Her birthday was on August 11, one day before her husband died. Her solar return chart has Neptune on the Ascendant and this Neptune is inconjunct ruler 7. This goes together, among other indications, with Progressed Mars inconjunct natal Moon and Progressed Moon + P Ceres square Sun.

The crisis in Nelson Mandela's chart

When you watch the chart, transits and progressions of Nelson Mandela, the crisis is eminent. It usually takes more than two important transits and progressions to indicate a main event or situation (the rule of three). Astro.com provides a DD-rated chart (which means that the hour of birth is practically unknown). Even without using the Ascendant and Midheaven or Progressed Moon it is obvious that there is crisis going on in the life of the former President of South Africa. This is the list:

  •  Pluto
Pluto is in the 11th degree of Capricorn. That is 165 degrees from the natal Sun of Mandela (26th of Cancer). An aspect of 165 degrees is a quindecile. A quindecile shows an obsessive situation, a strong focus. Pluto indicates challenges, danger and stress. The Sun means life and health. It is the picture of 'health strongly in danger'.
  •  Uranus
Uranus is in the 13th degree of Aries (12d5m today) That is 165 degrees from the progressed Sun of Mandela, now in the 28th of Libra. Again you see the difficult quindecile and the Sun (health). Uranus shows unexpected news, tension and change.

Together, Uranus and Pluto are indications of dramatic or intens change.
  • Uranus is now opposite his Mars.
That is not for the first time and it won't be the last. Complications like sudden fever or infections or accidents and incidents may occur during such a transit.
  • Transit Pluto is going to square his Mars
A new challenge, maybe a dangerous infection.

  • There is help: Jupiter
For the moment transit Jupiter is trine his progressed Sun. Jupiter helps. Jupiter helps you succeed. But Jupiter is often prominently present in the charts of the ill and dying, because Jupiter refers to doctors and to 'the journey' of life or the help 'on the way'. Medications seem to help him, right now, according to his grandson.
(It may also help that he has Pluto rising before the Sun and Moon in Scorpio in the natal chart. Those people don't give up easily.)

The crisis is in the chart. We don't know how this will end. He is very old, but he is also surrounded by doctors. Pluto means crisis, but doesn't give an answer to questions about the result of the stress of a period of life and death. Some survive and conquer the crisis, even at old age. Nevertheless: he is 94! He is facing the final years. Perhaps that is the symbol of:
  • progressed Sun quintile Saturn (creatively ending - a period in- life)

This is the DD-rated chart with transits and progressions:

Two executed royals, born November 2

It is November 2, All Souls Day. Time to remember lost loved ones and burn a candle.

Here I take the time to remember two royals, born on a November 2 in history. I noticed - on Wikipedia - that two executed royals were born on November 2 : Edward V, age 12 and Queen Marie Antoinette, age 36.

There is nothing wrong with being born on a November 2. It is only the date of birth that the royals share. The position of the Sun differs 10 degrees as you may see in the picures of the charts. That is because of the difference between the Gregorian and the Julian year. However, they were both born under Scorpio. Edward had an 11th degree Sun and a Leo Ascendant and Pisces Moon. Marie Antoinette had a 21st degree Sun and a Cancer Ascendant and Libra Moon.
Their charts are different, just as different as their characters were. Both were political victims.

Edward was King for a few months. His uncle Richard was the bad guy who had him murdered at age 12, imprisoned in the Tower of London. I had a look at his chart and noticed the importance of Mars (rising before the Sun), Uranus (NA, calling!) and Saturn (the planet in X). This mirrors the risk of sudden (Uranus) blockage (Saturn) of energy (Mars). These planets are also important in the month of his death.
1. Progressed Mars was opposition Saturn and semi sextile Uranus (suddenly blocked energy, resonating the natal chart).
2. Transit Uranus was inconjunct his Sun/Moon midpoint (sudden nerves with a loss involved).
3. Transit Saturn was inconjunct Progressed Midheaven (the 'check mate' or 'lame duck' aspect: ending a period in life and there is a loss involved (inconjunct = losing, giving up)

And there was more bad news from 'above': Progressed Moon on Ascendant and inconjunct Chiron (emotional pain); Progressed Midheaven inconjunct Node (lost position; lost connection). And there is Progressed Venus sextile Ascendant (for mercy).

It is a hard episode in the history of England. With this chart, in that position, in those days, it was not a good chart to be born with. Saturn sometimes ends, too soon. Even if you have an important Sun at the meridian (or, especially when you draw attention with an important Sun).

MARIE-ANTOINETTE
The story of Edward reminded me of an earlier study of the chart of Marie-Antoinette, the executed Queen of France. Marie-Antoinette was also born on a November 2.  She was only 36 when she was decapitated. She had married Louis XVI, she was rich and she was not popular. In those days (after a revolution) that was enough to lose your head.
Watch transit Jupiter square Midheaven on the day of her death. Marie-Antoinette had TBC and probably uterus cancer in the months before she died. Jupiter is seen more often in the charts of ill people when they die, like in the chart of late Paul Newman: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/09/paul-newman-died-with-jupiter-on.html

Charts of Marie Antoinette and husband are also on Astrodomein  (text in Dutch)

Into the wild with Mars TRINE Neptune (Chris McCandless)

Recently I saw parts of the movie 'Into the wild' again. It is about Christopher McCandless (picture above), who got into trouble and died of starvation on a road trip to Alaska, alone. They estimated that he died on August 18, 1992, now 20 years ago. He left a diary and notes and a book was written about his experiences, followed by a movie. I think that much of what happened, happened because of the tightest aspect in his chart, the trine between Mars and Neptune.

Don't get me wrong! I know that there is more! For example: the Sun semi square Saturn and inconjunct Pluto (die hard combination; difficulties and restrictions), Sun biquintile Uranus and semi square Saturn (breaking free), the Sun square Neptune and inconjunct Pluto (the silent force, the mystery), or Sun conjunct Pholus (risk to shoot your own foot; the catalyst).  Sun in Aquarius biquintile Uranus means a creative way to be independent and free. It is a sort of an ultimate Aquarian dream that turned into a nightmare when being different and independent turned into being an alien in a hostile environment.
It is 'Mars trine Neptune' what I like to discuss here, also because of the effect of transit Neptune - Progressed Mars later.  This trine again raises questions about the harmony of trines.
Remember the chart of Sharon Tate (lots of trines) and that of one of her murderers (trines in the synastry and grand trine in chart)? Here is the link: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2009/03/chart-of-sharon-tate-raising-questions.html

IMPORTANCE OF MARS TRINE NEPTUNE HERE
Mars trine Neptune is important in the chart of Chris McCandless. Mars trine Neptune is the tightest aspect. Tight aspects are most important, IMO (if time of birth is important, how couldn't the tightness of aspects be?) Moreover: this aspect is between important planets in the chart. Neptune is important because Neptune rises before the Sun (spotlight on ideals, dreams and illusions). Mars is in Pisces (ruled by Neptune).

The combination of Mars and Neptune is being repeated in the transits and progressions of an important moment: when he left home. In fact: all the while, during his odyssey, the transit was valid! In June 1990 Neptune was in the 14th degree of Capricorn. In december 1990 Neptune was in the 14th degree of Capricorn, again. In september 1991 the retrograding Neptune was in that degree.
I've experienced more than once, that aspects in transit or progressions between the same couple as in the natal chart are very important, even if the distance is different. It is a repeating, resonating theme. The transit or progression fits the natal chart, like the glass shoe fitted Cinderella.

MARS+NEPTUNE
Mars-Neptune is perfect for those things that don't require too much energy. Mars-Neptune stimulates fantasy, artistry and ideals. It is good for people who work with those who are weak or ill and have to use drugs or medication. It is a nice trine for sailors, people who live isolated lives or for people working in a bar. This Mars-Neptune is a trine. I wrote about the hard aspects before:

( Mars square Neptune ) (quote)
" I have a bad example of a count in Holland who was naive enough to believe that he would be spared, but he wasn't. Natal Mars-Neptune opposition. Soon after transit Neptune conjunct Sun (being seen in a negative light, gossip) he was convicted and sentenced to death. Those were the days...a mistake, literally loosing your head... Don't I have a nice Mars-Neptune example? Yes, the chart of Rod Stewart (on Art&Astrology). He has Mars square Neptune and they didn't chop his head off!
Maybe you have some more? If you have Mars square Neptune, what is your experience? I read about a man who kept losing his job because of not 'matching with the expectations'. I have seen examples of people working in or with crime (as a lawyer, for example, fighting crime). It seems that Mars-Neptune makes you 'do it' in another world, the world of imagination or the world that the common people don't see. Perhaps they work with animals, in hospitals, as a volunteer, for their ideals? It is a complicated aspect, very confusing (...)."
It seems that trines and squares between Mars and Neptune are almost one of a kind. They can lead you  into trouble.

FEBRUARY 12, 1968
On February 12, 1968 many more persons were born, like Josh Brolyn (actor), Gregory Charles and Chynna Philips*) (singers). They didn't  go into the wild. I don't know what happened to them, but I know what happened to Chris McCandless when the Mars-Neptune combination reappeared in his chart.  And I know his background. A study of history and anthropology had given him ideas about society. He wanted to leave society and he did, with transit Neptune square progressed Mars. He died after an odyssey with transit Neptune again square Progressed Mars, almost two years later. The period just before he went 'into the wild' was a Neptune-Mars period. In that period he didn't contact his family .

WHEN HE LEFT: T Neptune square P Mars
McCandless was born February 12, 1968 in El Segundo, California and he studied history and anthropology. He left home, after donating all of his money to Oxfam, end of June, 1990. That was with transit Uranus square his Saturn, on a moment of 'breaking free'. See the chart for the other transits and progressions. And see that transit Neptune was square progressed Mars.
Here are the positions on the day of birth with transits and progressions for when he left. Watch transit Pluto trine natal Sun: he was still strong and healthy then and determined to go.

He was last seen alive on April 28, 2012. He disappeared. And when he wanted to come back, it was too late.

DEATH
This is the chart of the estimated day of death. The situation (he couldn't cross the river and was completely alone) caused his early death.
Even when he died there was a Mars-Neptune issue. On August 20, 1992 (two days after the estimated day of death) Mars was inconjunct Neptune in the 17th degree. On the 17th Mars had been inconjunct Uranus in the 15th degree. His progressed Mars was in the 16th degree. Transit Uranus/Neptune was inconjunct transit Mars and square the progressed Mars of Chris McCandless.

When he died, transit Jupiter was opposition his progressed Sun and transit Neptune sextile. The Jupiter-Neptune combination is the combination of belief and faith. These transits may have comforted him in the lonely wild in his final hours. That is why he wrote:
I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD. GOODBYE AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL!"
It looks like an act (Mars) of faith (Neptune).

Mars-Neptune isn't the kind of aspect to help you survive in the wild. It is the aspect for the poet, the dreamer, getting lost...  There is nothing romantic about dying alone, sick, thin and cold, starving. But there is something mysterious about his last years and days that inspired artists to make (Mars) a movie (Neptune) about his walk to infinity. If it is one thing that the trine 'achieved', than it is the fact that his story became a legend.

RIP Steve Jobs

The newspapers say it: Steve Jobs died, a day after the introduction of the Apple I-Phone 4S. He was a brilliant innovator and his ideas will be missed. Here are a few links to posts about him and about his extraordinary talent.

Quaoar is the symbol of creating new worlds and realities (or say: innovation!). Quaoar is exactly trine ruler Midheaven, Mercury in Aquarius, in Jobs' natal chart...
http://astropost.blogspot.com/2010/09/quaoar-and-iphone.html

I wrote about Steve Jobs and Wozniak, the synastry and their roles: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2009/05/famous-partners-steve-wozniak-steve.html
Steve Jobs' 'calling Sun' is a symbol of drawing attention (the star, the leader, or say: being brilliant).

When he stepped back Pholus, symbol of the turning point, was there: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2011/01/progressions-pholus-and-steve-jobs.html

Inconjunctions of Saturn reflected his condition a year ago:
http://astropost.blogspot.com/2010/07/chart-of-steve-jobs-and-apple-i-phone.html

Here is the progressed chart of Steve Jobs. The progressed chart of Jobs has Mars ruler 6th house of illnesses in th eight house of life and death, inconjunct Ascendant now and transit Mars elevated, with transit Pluto trine Progressed Moon and Jupiter on the Descendant. Jupiter's presence is not unusual when suffering ends. Isn't Jupiter also a beautiful symbol for a voyage and passing away or moving on? See the label 'Jupiter life and death' for more examples.

Chart of Buddy Holly, September 7, 1936

Buddy Holly was one of the earliest pop idols and born on September 7, 1936. He died, too young, in an air crash. This blog is about his chart, transits and progressions.

MARS+URANUS: Hurry
There are indications for possible accidents in the natal chart. Transits resonated those indications on his final day, when he was in a hurry, on tour, and decided to take a plane instead of a (slow and old) bus.
Mars and Uranus are the combination of the 'short fuse' and accelerates speed. In the chart of Buddy Holly, Mars and Uranus are prominent. Here is the chart (transits and progressions for the day of his death):

1. Mars
Mars rises before his Sun, is in the 8th house and rules the 4th house.
Mars is inconjunct Saturn (ruler 1)

2. Uranus is 'calling' (not making major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees).
Uranus is square Mars/Pluto.

The importance of Mars and Uranus qualifies the importance of being in a hurry.

MARS-SATURN
A besides about Mars-Saturn: I recently 'survived' transit Saturn inconjunct Progressed Mars. My Mars is 'calling' (my progressed Mars is not). It have been days of a tetanus injection and antibiotics because of infection, and I have seen the doctor more than once, but I didn't die (obviously:). More important: nobody in my family died. Mars and Saturn are trine in my chart (out of sign). They are not related to the 4th or 8th house.

I quote Art&Astrology (blog about the talent in the chart):
On the day of his death, transit Saturn was sesquisquare his Mars (frustrating end of energy) and at the moment of the crash transit Uranus was 75 degrees from his midheaven (a shock), with transit Neptune septile Sun and biquintile Moon (perhaps unconsciousness). These are not uncommon aspects. But in HIS chart Mars happened to be an important symbol of death, being activated too soon.

DEATH
Here above is the chart of Buddy Holly, with transits and progressions for the final day. There are a number of tight aspects. Some are an indication of what happened. We see Mars-Saturn (dead end), 8th house (life and death) and 4th house. Three of those tight aspects are related to the 8th house. Two of them to the 4th house. Mars-Saturn is already indicating a possible end of energy. The combination of Pluto, Mars and Saturn shows the danger of death. There are 4 aspects between planets, lights or objects making aspects in the natal chart, too. Those are strong aspects.

Big events take at leats 3 or more important transits and progressions. Accidents are most often complicated and caused by more than 1 simple mistake or failure. As you see, it takes a lot of transits and progressions to mark the end of the life of a 22 year old artist...And there are at least 4 strong indications of danger. The 3 inconjunctions complete the picture of loss. Here is the list.

  • Transit Neptune is semi sextile Progressed Sun and 15 degrees from Progressed Midheaven. In the natal chart Neptune is in the 8th house of life and death and Neptune is conjunct Sun (also in the 8th house
  • Transit Chiron is square Progressed Midheaven
  • Transit Saturn is within 1 degree orb inconjunct Progressed Ascendant and transit Pluto is inconjunct Ascendant (orb 17 minutes). The midpoint of Saturn and Pluto is square Progressed Ascendant
  • Transit Jupiter is inconjunct IC (cusp 4th house). Jupiter rules the 12th house of undoing and is the symbol of traveling. In the natal chart Jupiter is semi square Midheaven.
  • Transit Uranus is 75 degrees from natal Midheaven. Uranus is in the 4th house (natal)
  • Progressed Sun is semi square Progressed Midheaven. Sun rules the 8th house. In the natal chart Sun is semi square Midheaven
  • Transit Pluto is on the midpoint Mars/Saturn and in the 8th house.
  • And last but not least:Transit Saturn is sesquisquare natal Mars (in the 8th house). Mars is inconjunct Saturn in the natal chart
PHOLUS
One more thing: Pholus is on the Ascendant in the natal chart and Pholus is novile the Midheaven. The midpoint AC/MC is semi square Pholus. Pholus is the symbol of the turning point. He had a turbulent and short life. But he is also a legend. On Astromarkt I wrote about AC/MC with Pholus:
  • AC/MC with Pholus
The importance of polls, looking back and retrospective results

He had a contract in 1956 (transit Neptune conjunct Midheaven and Progressed Sun soon conjunct Venus, progressed Midheaven square Mars, Progressed Ascendant inconjunct Mars and almost opposition Uranus). The prominent Mars and Uranus were 'hit', just like when he died on tour in 1959. Here is the chart, transits and progressions of Buddy Holly for January 1956.

The Mayerling suicide (Prince Rudolf)

Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria was born on a August 21 and he committed suicide. He didn't die alone. Maria Vetsera, his young lover, went with him. His Saturn was on her Midheaven. He was married, but not with Maria and he was very ill (sex related illnesses). He had a lot of difficult transits and progressions except for the trine with Jupiter, ruler 8 (the only chance for a way out: death?). Jupiter sometimes shows up in charts of times of death when the person who dies sees it as a voyage to eternity or a better place or when someone who impersonates Jupiter (doctors, for example) help and comfort a patient. There are even Jupiter-Uranus combinations in the charts of final moments, resonating relief.

There is a romantic choreography about the suicide...Read all about the after all not so romantic story of Mayerling Castle, the synastry and the natal charts here: http://astropost.blogspot.com/2008/11/mayerling-drama-charts-of-prince-rudolf.html

Life of Amy Winehouse and astrology

Amy Winehouse died and a beautiful voice has gone. All we know is her day and place of birth and that is a limitation. There are so many more persons born on her birthday (for example Frostee Rucker). They are not all singing or using drugs and they didn't all die this week. Still, we can see the potential of artistic talent in the chart. Here is more about the most important moments in her career and life. And of course there is also more about the chart of her day of birht. Because the question is: how does this chart (partly) show these major events, if you consider the fact that she was a woman on stage in a world full of drugs? It is fragmental because of the missing hour of birth but in short: the passionate and driven person, living the blues to the max, is in Venus and Mars rising before the Sun, the 'calling' Saturn in Scorpio. And situation and circumstances did the rest. Continue for more about the charts of the debute, marriage, divorce, final day and about the talent in the chart.

Chart, progressions and transits of Betty Ford

Betty Ford died. She was the wife of Gerald Ford, who died in 2006. She died with Progressed Midheaven conjunct Mars, ruler 8th house of life and death and with transit Neptune quindecile (165d) that same Mars. There is also a Jupiter inconjunct Ascendant from the 8th house in her progressed chart. Betty Ford died at age 93. I think that Jupiter/Uranus opposition her Sun was one of the combinations in her chart that contributed to the length of her life.

THE WIFE OF...
Her natal chart shows the importance of the marriage partner, family life and ' the party': Juno is conjunct her Sun and the Moon is important, too (angular and the first large object rising before the Sun). With her Ascendant in Virgo and knowing about her Juno and Moon, you would expect her to humbly serve the family and husband, but...there is Sun inconjunct Ascendant.

Betty Ford is a good example of someone with the Sun without major aspects, a ' calling'  Sun. With such a sun in your chart you are likely to draw attention, somehow, anyhow. She married a President to be...and became the First Lady. Her Sun and Juno are in tight aspect with Midheaven (it was her job to be the 'wife of...'). In that job she had more impact on the American society than her husband had. She also fought for women's rights (see Mars - symbol of the activist - on the Ascendant opposition Moon). And later, when her husband lost the elections, she took over. BTW, it was her second marriage (ruler 1 Mercury is square ruler 7 Neptune and Juno - conjunct Sun- is inconjunct Mars).

Continue for the story of her life related to progressions and transits.

Mars/Saturn/Pluto midpoint combination and Osama bin Laden

Progressions and transits of Osama bin Laden
Early this morning (for me in Europe) I twittered about Osama bin Laden and the progressed Mars quindecile his Saturn. Here is some more about the chart of Osama bin Laden and his reported death. There are three important indications for the issue of violent death in his (progressed) chart right now. There are 3 (there always are 3 to indicate an important event) and they are heavy:
- Progressed Mars quindecile Saturn (already mentioned)
- Transit Saturn/Pluto opposition natal Mars
- Transit Saturn inconjunct progressed and natal Sun
Saturn refers to 'the limit' and 'the end' of a period of life. Mars-Saturn-Pluto mirrors violent or unnatural death threats. Mars-Saturn is the combination of ending energy. Mars-Saturn and Pluto are the trio of untimely death.

We don't know the time of birth of Osama bin Laden, so that is all. But in the case of a fugitive, wanted for already 10 years, with a price on his head, the three progressions and transits in combination with the inconjunction (symbol of lack of balance or lost) were enough to kill the leader of Al Quaida. Here is the natal chart with transits and progressions:
The chart, transits and progressions can't prove his death. Remember Bobby Brown? He lives. See the post about the announcement of his death during transit Saturn opposition Sun and a Mars-Saturn-Pluto combination and even more. He was pronounced death but they managed to bring him back. I don't think that this will happen in the case of Osama bin Laden...
Charts should always been seen in the light of the situation and condition and of the natal chart. When you combine the hard aspects in Osama's natal, transits and progressions with the situation (being under attack instead of in hospital) the outcome just had to be different, even in a year with progressed Sun sesquisquare Jupiter (see the label 'Jupiter, life and death' or 'doping' about the negative side of the positive Jupiter).

PS The fate of Osama bin Laden shows the importance of having a look at your progressed Sun sign. The progressed Sun of Osama bin Laden was in the 13th degree of Taurus (the degree of the Taurus born in the first days of May. I quote the predictions of 2011:

Unfortunately, the Taurus born in the first half of May, must face nasty business. Perhaps there will be an unbalancing end of a situation or period? There is some comfort: it will be so much better mid 2012! But still, it can be difficult until then.

And that was because of Saturn inconjunct this Sun, one of the three fatal transits.

Earlier post (dated March 9, 2008) about the reading of the natal chart of Osama bin Laden...Quote:

MARS-SATURN-PLUTO
The square Mars-Pluto is the first clue to the use of violence. Mars is conjunct the fixed star Algol (for adventures, lying and for the one who litterally or not loses his head). Pluto is conjunct Regulus (the 'royal star'). But that is the fact with many of those of his generation.

See the labels Mars Saturn Pluto and Mars Saturn or Life and death for more examples of these aspect combinations.

Jayne Mansfield's chart

Jayne Mansfield was born April 19, 1933 and she died too young, after a car accident on June 29, 1967. In those 34 years she managed to marry three times, have 5 children and maintain a perfect body. For the number of divorces I 'blame' Venus conjunct Uranus, the situation/circumstances (the artistic scene) and her money.Venus-Uranus falls in love easily. She also has Sun conjunct Uranus (for being independent and finding the wrong guy) and trine Mars (out of sign, man are important), with Venus in Aries (love at first sight, fast marriage). But first of all there is Venus-Uranus, rising before the Sun and making adventures in love and special beauty the focus of her life. Venus-Uranus is quite frequently in an important position and related to the Ascendant/first house in the charts of models.
In Jayne Mansfield's chart, the feminine Cancer Ascendant is quintile Uranus and sesquisemisquare (67.d) Venus. That contributes to her appearance (special beauty - breasts are important- etc.)
natal and progressed chart

When she died, transit Mars was square natal and progressed Pluto and transit Mercury was conjunct natal and progressed Pluto. Transit Pluto is also quindecile Progressed Eris and Mars is very close to an opposition with Progressed Midheaven.Progressed Sun/Moon is conjunct progressed Chiron and trasnit Chiron is conjunct the natal midpoint Sun/Moon. Progressed Ceres is exactly conjunct the natal Ascendant and progressed Jupiter is exactly opposition natal Midheaven.

I like to point at Jupiter's important position opposition Midheaven. Jupiter is also ' calling' (not making major aspects). That is reflecting (relative) successes and the importance of...travelling (and horse power).

BTW Saturn is also without any aspect in the eight house, ruling the 8th house. The 8th house is the house of life and death. Saturn is the symbol of time (untimely, late or too soon).

And notice Moon conjunct Pallas for the female = moon pattern = pallas :)
